Can-Am Challenges The Cost Of Motorcycling At Motorcycle LiveCan-Am is challenging conventional thinking about the cost of life on two wheels at Motorcycle Live by showcasing the cost-saving potential of owning the Can-Am Origin and Can-Am Pulse on stand 3B12.

With big savings on both fuel and maintenance, riders can potentially save up to £2,700 over five years compared with a petrol-powered motorcycle.

With fuel and maintenance costs continuing to influence motorcycle ownership, Can-Am is highlighting how the move from petrol to electric puts money back into the the pocket of the rider.. The savings show that energy and maintenance costs for a petrol-powered motorcycle come to £3,900, compared with just £1,200 for an electric alternative, a potential saving of £2,700.

The figures underline the importance of looking beyond the initial purchase price and weighing up the long-term cost of ownership, as lower day-to-day running costs will make electric bikes an increasingly attractive option for riders looking to get more out of every journey.

The EV bikes on show include the Can-Am Pulse, which has been developed by the R&D team for city riding. Its compact design makes it nimble and the perfect bike to make easy work of city traffic. The bike also has four different riding modes: Normal, ECO, Rain and Sport+, which riders can switch between depending on the location, personal preference and weather. The Pulse also comes with BRP’s Active ReGen system, which provides the rider with enhanced control and smooth deceleration, while providing power back to the battery.

Also on show is theCan-Am Origin, which has been developed to be equally at home on tarmac or on the trails. Its lightweight design incorporates the battery in the frame, resulting in less weight and greater agility on every ride, no matter the terrain. The Origin has six drive modes that adjust the throttle response, traction control, and ABS depending on the ride, and within the six modes, there are two off-road modes that help the bike seamlessly slip from road to off-road so the toughest terrains are made easy.

Alongside discovering more about Can-Am’s approach to electric motorcycles and how the technology is evolving, visitors will also have the opportunity to see a selection of the models from its three-wheel range. These include the easily customisable Can-Am Ryker, which has been designed to make riding accessible to everyone, and the Can-Am Spyder F3-S and F3 Limited, which provide riders with a powerful combination of luxurious comfort and racing performance in a bold and muscular design.

Mike Loach, district commercial manager, BRP says, “The Origin and Pulse offer a fresh approach to life on two wheels. We want to open up the conversation on EV bikes so riders are fully informed about whether to make the switch from petrol or are simply curious about what electric motorcycling has to offer. We want to show them the potential benefits of Can-Am EV bikes, from lower running costs to an exciting new riding experience.”

Who are Can-Am
Can-Am is a Canadian brand of powersports vehicles owned by Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), based in Valcourt, Quebec. The company produced off-road motorcycles from 1972 to 1987. In 1997, the company was reformed and began production of ATV vehicles as well as the Can-Am Spyder three-wheeled motorcycle. In 2024 Can-Am released two new electric motorcycle models.
