Kawasaki unveils a trio of 2021 twins

Kawasaki Versys 650

Following the announcement of new season colours for the popular Vulcan S, the remaining three models in the 2021 twin-cylinder 650cc range have been unveiled.

Each a standout bike in its class, Kawasaki’s venerable water-cooled, cassette gearbox equipped 650 twin engine once again powers new iterations of the Ninja 650, Versys 650 and Z650 for the coming season.

That means for riders who prefer mid-weight ‘All Roads, One Bike’ style machines, the Versys will now be available in Candy Lime Green / Metallic Spark Black, Pearl Blizzard White / Metallic Spark Black or Metallic Moondust Gray / Metallic Spark Black.

Equipped with distinctive long travel suspension, the Versys is ready to tackle the city, its suburbs and any distance demanded thanks to a confidence inspiring upright riding position and the ability to add clean mount 56l accessory panniers that utilise a single key operating the ignition, fuel cap and seat lock too.

Kawasaki Ninja 650

Comfortable attacking not simply corners but carving a niche for itself in the hearts of many sporting riders, the Ninja 650 will arrive on showroom floors with an equipment package that includes LED headlamps, a colour TFT meter and an assist and slipper clutch.

The machine’s narrow, lithe profile is an ideal confidence boost for newer riders while the angular Ninja cowling is great to tuck behind for more experienced riders enjoying the full sporting potential of this mid-capacity Ninja. For 2021 the colour options are Metallic Spark Black, Lime Green / Ebony / Pearl Blizzard White or Metallic Spark Black / Pearl Blizzard White.

The Sugomi presence of the hard edged yet supremely rider friendly Z650 will be accentuated in 2021 with machines offered in Metallic Spark Black / Metallic Flat Spark Black, Pearl Blizzard White / Metallic Spark Black or Metallic Spark Black; this underpinned with dual throttle valves, LED lighting and a trellis type tubular chassis echoing that of the mighty Z H2.

Offering outstanding performance in terms of newbie-friendly power delivery and responsive chassis compliance, each of the “trio of twins” can also offer a lusty mid-range and accomplished top end rush ready to satisfy even the most time-served rider.

Add the narrow profile and sleek outward appearance of the twin cylinder engine and the only decision to make is the family; Ninja, All Roads, One Bike or Z Naked – whatever the choice these three Euro5 compliant mid-weights approach 2021 ready, willing and able.

TOMTOM Rider 550 Review

TOMTOM Rider 550 – review by Laramoto.

Why bother buying a dedicated sat nav like the TomTom Rider 550 when your smart phone will do? It’s exactly the question I asked myself before my 10 day tour around the Pyrenees. When we got stuck in the mountains and my mates smartphone had failed to find signal and cooked itself, I knew I’d made the right choice.

You’ll want the Rider 550 because its the latest dedicated motorcycle sat nav that TomTom has to offer and it includes worldwide mapping and pre-loaded motorcycle Points of Interests (POIs). Like any sat nav, you’ll need to consider how to mount it on your bike – look no further than the premium pack. It will remain on and charged and docks/undocks with a single click. You can fit the anti-theft system but I find it easier to take with me. The unit is totally weatherproof and has sufficient touch sensitivity, even through gloves.

The best bit about the TomTom 550 is the ‘Plan A Thrill’ feature. Select a destination and then adjust how wiggly or how hilly the route should be. The Rider 550 gets creative and takes you down anything but a motorway or dull A roads. I have found superb routes across the country that only a local would know exist, just add some common sense when you’re about to go green laning on your S1000RR.

It has regular speed camera updates and you can get your phone to talk to it through a dedicated TomTom app called MyDrive, but only via WIFI. The Rider550 syncs with a bluetooth headset too, but this is sometimes hampered by bluetooth connection issues. In summary – hassle free navigation wherever you are in the world. Reliable, weatherproof and with succinct instruction, you’ll find superb biking roads when you fit a TomTom 550.

Triumph Rocket 3 Review

Triumph Rocket 3 Review. Is the worlds highest torque motorcycle for you? Cruiser or sports bike?

If you cant see the above click here to watch on Youtube

Review by MrDarcy & the Ol’Man

We review, at long last, the Triumph Rocket 3 motorbike.

This is the worlds most torquey production motorcycle! Is it too hot to handle or is it for you? We find out.

We look at the handling, brakes, acceleration, ride modes and find out what it is like to ride. Is it stable? Is it good in the corners? Is it big or small? How does it fit different rider sizes and heights? Is it too heavy?

Does it handle like a sports bike or a cruiser. Rake and Trail – we give you the correct info. We tell you the mpg, fuel economy, and range on a full tank.

This beautiful, modern design may not be for everyone, but if you watch our videos, you will at least be able to make an informed decision.

A big thanks to Webbs Motorcycles of Peterborough for lending us their bike https://www.webbsmotorcycles.co.uk

iXS Underwear Shirt and Pants 365

Always stay at the perfect temperature – cools in the summer and heats during the winter because they are made of efficient functional fibres using special knitting technology. The extremely low weight and the surprising capabilities of particularly fast moisture removal make the Underwear Shirt & Pants 365 from iXS really stand out.

Moist skin soon becomes cold. Therefore underwear, which takes moisture away from the skin, is one of the most important factors in keeping warm. Underwear Shirt & Pants 365 from iXS were specially developed to offer the best possible comfort for sports activities with your motorbike. The base layer directs moisture away and will always keep you warm and dry. It is therefore perfectly suited to use all year round.

The unbelievably light material that is soft to the touch is extraordinarily stretchable and fits snugly to the body. This creates unlimited freedom of movement so that you can concentrate fully on riding your motorbike. The shirt and trousers are made using 3D knitting technology without any seams and therefore provide a soft, pleasant fit on the skin without any pressure points, giving maximum wearing comfort.

The high functionality is also a factor that is relevant to safety: The removal of moisture to the outside prevents your jacket and trousers sticking damply to your skin. This additional layer of movement protects your skin against undesired forces. The energy that occurs with a fall is therefore not directly transmitted from the outer material to the skin. The intermediate layer supports the rapid reduction in energy.

The mix of black-grey colours combined with red applications at the closures make them look appealing. You can therefore take off your motorbike jacket in a restaurant without any problems and you will still be well-dressed. Thanks to the neutral colour selection, the iXs  & Trousers 365 go well with everything.

A Limited Number Of Fans Allowed For Indy Round

The MotoAmerica Superbikes At The Brickyard Event Set For October 9-11

MotoAmerica has announced that Indianapolis Motor Speedway will welcome a limited number of fans to the Racing Capital of the World for the MotoAmerica Superbikes at the Brickyard round of the 2020 MotoAmerica Series, October 9-11, per approval from the Marion County Public Health Department.

The massive facility will provide a spectator zone in the Turn 1 grandstands of the oval, offering strong sightlines of the road course. Fans will not be permitted into any section of the IMS infield, VIP areas or the MotoAmerica paddock, and all fan activities have been eliminated, including the Steve Nace-promoted flat track that was slated to take place in the IMS infield.

Strict health and safety rules will be in place at the Speedway, including the following: Face coverings must be worn throughout the property at all times; all fans will receive temperature screenings before gate entry; grandstand seats will be marked for distancing; attendees must use pre-assigned gates and remain in their designated zones.

“We’re happy to open our gates to motorcycle racing fans eager to see two-wheeled action at the Racing Capital of the World for the first time in five years,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. “Superbikes at the Brickyard will be a fun weekend featuring non-stop action from the top motorcycle road racers in North America.”

IMS has adopted a health-and-safety plan, developed in consultation with state and local health officials, that includes each attendee receiving a mask and a bottle of hand sanitizer upon entering the track.

Six classes of MotoAmerica competition will race on the IMS road course – HONOS Superbike, Supersport, Stock 1000, Twins Cup, Liqui Moly Junior Cup and Heritage Cup.

This will be the first motorcycle race at IMS since 2015, when MotoAmerica supported the MotoGP World Championship during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. Motorcycle racing has a strong heritage at the Brickyard, as the first motorsports ever at the track was a series of seven motorcycle races August 14, 1909 on the 2.5-mile oval. MotoGP raced at IMS from 2008-15.

Tickets are available at IMS.com for the event, which features multiple classes of MotoAmerica motorcycle road racing.

Motorcycle racing fans also will see a host of facility improvements at the Speedway during the event weekend, including more than 30 new LED video boards, refreshed concession stands and restrooms, and 5G wireless connectivity throughout the facility.

BMW Motorrad presents the new BMW G 310 GS

With the BMW G 310 GS, BMW Motorrad is creating a new experience in the displacement segment below 500 ccm since 2016. Extremely compact, robust and highly versatile in design, it immediately established itself as a genuine BMW GS – especially for newcomers. Four years after its début, BMW Motorrad now presents the new BMW G 310 GS. Versatile, safer and more dynamic.

BMW Motorrad presents the new BMW G 310 GS.
Even more dynamic introduction to the BMW GS experience.

Munich. Versatile, safer and more dynamic – whether in everyday traffic, during pleasure rides on country roads or off-road in easy terrain.

Single-cylinder engine according to EU-5 homologation with automatic idle boost and electromotive throttle controller.
The heart of the new BMW G 310 GS is still the reliable 313 ccm liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts and electronic fuel injection. The cylinder inclination to the rear and the cylinder head rotated by 180 degrees with intake at the front and exhaust at the rear remain the design characteristics. This arrangement follows the logic of optimal combustion air ducting and results in a particularly compact vehicle architecture. With an output of 25 kW (34 HP) at 9 500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7 500 rpm, the single-cylinder engine of the new BMW G 310 GS is the ideal partner for dynamic motorcycling pleasure, including in the current EU 5 homologation.

For use in the new BMW G 310 GS, the engine has been equipped with a so-called “electronic throttle grip” (electromotive throttle controller) and now offers an even more sensitive throttle response. Automatic idle speed increase when starting also prevents a possible sudden stalling of the engine. The self-boosting anti-hopping clutch is also new. It reduces engine drag torque and provides a significant increase in driving safety – particularly during braking manoeuvres involving simultaneous downshifting. It also offers significantly reduced operating forces at the clutch lever.

New LED headlight and LED flashing turn indicators – seeing and being seen optimally.
Whereas the BMW G 310 GS was already equipped with brake lights in LED technology, the new BMW G 310 GS now has a full-LED headlight for even better visibility at night and LED flashing turn indicators for increased visibility in traffic. The new LED headlight not only ensures particularly bright and homogeneous illumination of the road. Due to the modified connection, distracting vibrations of the light cone are a thing of the past. The three light functions high beam, low beam and, depending on the country, daytime driving light can be conveniently operated using the left handlebar controls.

Hand lever adjustable in four stages for brake and clutch.
Both, the clutch lever and the handbrake lever are now adjustable in four stages. It thus now provides ergonomic benefits – particularly for people with small hands. Stage 3 of the brake lever adjustment corresponds to the grip width until now. In the 1st position the brake lever is 6 mm closer to the handlebar.

Gently revised design with an attractive basic colour and two exclusive style variants.
GS is a promise at BMW Motorrad. It stands for absolute functionality, reliability and robustness. Accordingly, the new BMW G 310 GS can be recognised at first glance as a genuine BMW GS. With its characteristic windscreen, high front fender, striking flyline and short, high rear end, it has the main elements of the large BMW R 1250 GS models – and has an even more aggressive and dynamic appearance from the front thanks to the new LED headlight.

Its colour concept also reflects that it is part of the BMW GS family. What all three colour variants of the BMW G 310 GS have in common are the engine housing covers for the alternator, clutch and water pump, now painted in metallic titanium grey.

In addition to the typical GS colours in white with the basic colour plain polar white and tank side panels in grey, the new BMW G 310 GS has a very sporty appearance in Rallye style. The frame painted red and Kyanit blue metallic for the tank centre cover and front emphasise the off-road talents and give the motorcycle an extremely dynamic appearance.

As the “40 Years GS” edition, however, the BMW G 310 GS is based on a famous historical model from the BMW GS history – the R 100 GS. Accordingly, it is in black and yellow – with the basic colour cosmic black and yellow graphics on the tank side panels. Just in time for the anniversary, BMW Motorrad is also presenting a new rider equipment collection.

All new features of the BMW G 310 GS at a glance:
• Single-cylinder engine according to EU-5 homologation with electromotive throttle controller and automatic idle speed increase.
• Self-boosting anti-hopping clutch.
• New LED headlight and LED flashing turn indicators.
• Hand lever adjustable in four stages for brake and clutch.
• Engine housing covers of alternator, clutch and water pump painted titanium grey metallic.
• Gently revised design with an attractive basic colour and two exclusive style variants.

The new BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure.

The BMW GS models are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2020 and BMW Motorrad is presenting the new R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure just in time for this.

“Inspiring performance, an impressive range of equipment, an incomparable riding experience and an almost unshakable confidence of GS customers in their motorcycles contribute significantly to the success of the BMW Motorrad brand That was an incentive and at the same time an obligation with the new R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure.”
Patrick Gürlich, Project Manager, and Reiner Fings, Product Manager

The new BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure: Even more sophisticated and innovative for off-road, touring and adventures.

The BMW GS models are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2020 and BMW Motorrad is presenting the new R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure just in time for this. Even more sophisticated, more innovative and more fascinating – due to numerous new features and an extended range of optional equipment and Original BMW Motorrad Accessories. Even more so than before, they are the perfect companions for discovering even the most remote corners of our planet by motorcycle.

Like to date, the legendary two-cylinder boxer engine ensures a superior and cultivated drive. It still has a displacement of 1,254 cm3 and with the current EU5 vehicle type approval it also still has a capacity of 100 kW (136 HP). Due to BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve control timing and valve lift on the intake side, it provides superior power across the entire speed range, extremely smooth and quiet running and outstanding consumption and emission values.

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and new “Eco” riding mode as standard. Pro riding modes with riding mode preselection and dynamic engine brake control as optional equipment.

The Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) ensures a high level of driving safety by best possible traction as standard. With the new standard “Eco” riding mode the rider is encouraged to drive as efficiently as possible.

As optional equipment ex works, the new R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure can be equipped with the Pro riding modes option. With the new riding mode preselection, the rider can have an individual selection of riding modes provided at the riding mode button. The dynamic engine brake control is also a new component of the Pro riding modes. It can be used to safely avoid unstable driving conditions, which can occur in coasting overrun mode or when downshifting due to excessive brake slip at the rear wheel.

New BMW Integral ABS Pro as standard.

The R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure are the world’s most popular touring enduros, in their latest edition with BMW Integral ABS Pro as standard. This is a brake system that provides even more safety when braking, even in inclined positions, and thinks even further ahead, so to speak. The additional expansion of the riding mode concept results in more new functions. For example, the advanced adaptation of the ABS control characteristics to the respective riding mode.

Hill Start Control Pro (HSC Pro) with advanced function as optional equipment ex works.

The Hill Start Control drive-off assistant is standard in both models and enables convenient stopping and starting when driving uphill. Hill Start Control Pro (HSC Pro) goes beyond the Hill Start Control comfort system and noticeably improves the starting performance in all conditions.

New full-LED adaptive headlights, new lighting function, cruising light and function-integrated turn indicator bulbs as optional equipment ex works.

The standard full-LED headlight already illuminates the road with an unmatched bright and clear light. A newly developed headlight with swivel function goes one step further. With the optional “adaptive headlight” equipment, the low-beam headlight of the standard full-LED headlight is turned into the curve depending on the inclined position. Curves are almost fully illuminated this way because the light is where the motorcycle is moving.

The new lighting functions make the experience with the R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure even more intense and practical at the same time. In future, the welcome light (“Welcome” function), the “Good bye” function and the “Follow me home” function for orientation will be available as optional equipment. With the optional cruising light equipment, the two front turn indicator bulbs are operated so that they are permanently dimmed simultaneously. In the case of the multifunctional rear indicator lamps, the standard rear LED flashing turn indicators are replaced by LED flashing turn indicators (depending on the market), which can emit yellow flashing light and red brake light or rear light simultaneously.

Vehicle voltage and USB sockets as standard. Seat heating for rider and passenger for increased travelling and touring capability as well as handlebar risers by 30 mm as optional equipment ex works.

The new BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure already have two different sockets as standard. A 12 V vehicle voltage socket and a USB-A socket with 5 V power supply. A seat heating for rider and passenger as optional equipment ex works also provides a significant increase in comfort at low outside temperatures. A new operating concept enables particularly easy handling. In addition to the different rider’s seats and footrests available as optional equipment or Original BMW Motorrad Accessories, the handlebar height can now also be adjusted with the optionally available handlebar risers.

The new R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure: Travelling, off-road and adventure expertise, each in an attractive basic colour and the two triple black and Rallye style variants. “40 Years GS” anniversary edition.

Suzuki releases new colours for GSX-S750

Suzuki has released two new colour options for its popular GSX-S750 naked, which includes a new blue and black edition with fluro accents as well as a grey and black version with striking blue wheels.

A reimagined blue and black livery sees a black tank, mudguard, seat unit, and belly pan complemented by blue radiator shrouds and side panels, all offset by standout fluro accents around the headlight and on the belly pan, plus the 750 graphic on the seat unit and rim decals.

Retaining the same black elements is a variant that swaps the blue to a subtle, classy grey, which is finished with blue details and blue wheels.

Adorning the tank and radiator shrouds of both models is a large GSX logo, reminiscent of the SUZUKI logo on the firm’s GSX-R machines.

The GSX-S750 produces 114PS from it’s GSX-R-derived engine, which is tuned for more street-focussed performance. It features a three-mode traction control system, plus Suzuki’s practical easy-start and low rpm assist aids.

And currently available with £750 off it means the GSX-S750 comes with an RRP of just £7249, and with a £2000 deposit or trade-in can be ridden for £60.30 per month on a three-year PCP deal.

KTM Lifts The Covers On The Special KTM 350 EXC-F WESS Machine

As a special model for 2021, the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS is being launched by KTM as a tribute to the thrilling WESS Championship. Featuring WP XACT air forks for the first time on a KTM EXC, along with an impressive list of extra components, this limited-edition machine is ready for the hardest tests and the most challenging trails across the globe.

Based on the incredibly versatile KTM 350 EXC-F, which has become a favorite among Enduro fans worldwide, the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS features a celebratory livery that pays homage to the diverse challenges of WESS competition. With Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Manuel Lettenbichler enjoying success aboard the KTM 350 EXC-F on multiple occasions, the reigning WESS Champion also unveiled the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS in a special video that is now available on KTM’s digital platforms.

The KTM 350 EXC-F is a highly desirable solution for offroad riders of all ages and backgrounds that combines the agility of a smaller-cylinder machine with the power and torque of a far larger bike. Its advanced 350 cc fuel-injected DOHC engine that weighs less than 28 kg works with the state-of-the-art chromoly steel frame to offer the perfect balance between power and handling.

Using the key elements from KTM’s best-selling 4-stroke competition Enduro machine, the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS augments the serial production model’s package by including factory wheels with hubs anodized in orange, a radiator fan and protectors, CNC machined triple clamps in orange, a plastic skid plate, and a grippy Factory seat.

The biggest enhancement on the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS is seen with the inclusion of WP XACT 48 mm air fork technology for the first time on a KTM Enduro machine. Specifically designed for high-performance offroad use, the latest innovation from WP allows for easy and quick adjustments via the air pressure valve for preload (on the left) or the easy-access clickers for damping (on the right), optimizing suspension settings for different tests or the changing conditions of a long riding day. In addition, the WP XACT fork introduces big weight savings compared to the alternative systems.

Built for those looking for the ultimate 4-stroke race machine, the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS comes with further additions in the forms of a floating front disc with guard, a solid rear disc, a Supersprox stealth rear sprocket, an orange oil plug, grey ODI grips, and a standard map select switch. The all-new WESS graphics and orange frame make this unique machine stand out with a close-to-factory look regardless of the depth of the rut or the size of the rocks.

Joachim Sauer, KTM Senior Product Manager Offroad: “There is exclusivity with each one of our special edition machines and with the KTM 350 EXC-F WESS we set out to provide hardcore Enduro fans with a technical upgrade that will help them thrive on in competition or further enhance their general feeling while riding. With the addition of the WP XACT fork technology for the first time on a KTM EXC, the bike is a fantastic tribute to the skills we see in the WESS championship. For WESS fans and Enduro riders that want unique looks and class-leading 4-stroke performance then this is another unmissable offroad bike that we at KTM are really proud of.”

The new KTM 350 EXC-F WESS will be available at authorized KTM dealers internationally from October 2020 onwards.

Suzuki’s popular £1 per cc offer will return this autumn, which will see customers able to enjoy savings of up to £1000.

Buyers of the British Superbike and Superstock race-winning GSX-R1000R – with its MotoGP-derived variable valve timing system and comprehensive suite of electronics – as well as the GSX-S1000, GSX-S1000F, and the new Katana will benefit from a £1000 saving.

Meanwhile there is £750 to be saved on the GSX-S750, plus a £650 discount on the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT, SV650, and SV650X.

In addition, all models are available on both PCP and Hire Purchase finance with no deposit required, making it even easier to make the switch to a new Suzuki.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, commented, “Our £1 per cc saving has proven popular in the past, and means customers can save serious money on the purchase of a new Suzuki. What makes switching even easier is the ability to not only save on the retail price, but also take out a finance agreement with an APR of just 5.9%, with the potential for no deposit. Adventure Awaits on Africa Twins From £28 Per Month With New Finance Packages

Honda has revealed finance packages to help true adventurers realise CRF1100L Africa Twin ownership with bite-size monthly payments, which can be taken advantage of on all variants of the flagship model, from the CRF1100L Africa Twin right up to range-topping, DCT-equipped, Adventure Sports with Electronic Suspension and ‘Plus’ edition which adds a full range of Genuine Honda Accessories, including a choice of all-new Aluminium or Plastic Luggage boasting a combined storage capability (Top Box + Panniers) of 112L or 128L respectively.

A combination of a larger deposit and reduced interest rates on financed purchases of a CRF1100L, results in monthly instalments more common to 125cc motorcycle rather than a full-blooded adventurer.

The new finance packages provide aspiring tourers and adventurers a route to ownership of an Africa Twin, afforded by a deposit, with a contribution of up to £1,000 pounds on selected models, followed by 11 monthly instalments and a final payment. For example, a buyer of a CRF1100L Africa Twin would place a deposit of £5,524.50, with a £1,000 deposit contribution, before making 11 (monthly) payments of £27.67. After the year term has elapsed, the final payment is £6,524.50.

Similar financial mechanics apply across the full Africa Twin line-up so you can ride a DCT Adventure Sports with Electronic Suspension ‘Plus’ Edition away from a Honda dealership for £42.73 per month. This top of the range model has electronically adjustable suspension at the flick of a switch, a myriad of rider modes and a comprehensive infotainment system, boasting Apple CarPlay.

Reincarnated in 2015 the “new era” Africa Twin was overhauled in 2020. Lighter, more powerful and shot through with technology, the icon can take on any adventure in one of its various forms to tackle rugged off-road terrain or endlessly tour in total comfort.
