Swifty Releases First and Only UK Road-Legal E-Scooter

Swifty Releases First and Only UK Road-Legal E-Scooter
Swifty Scooters, a leading British scooter manufacturer, is proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking product that marks a significant milestone in British transportation history. Introducing the Swifty GO GT500, a revolutionary e-scooter that has received official approval for road use in the UK, setting a new standard in urban mobility.

Unlike traditional e-scooters, the Swifty GO GT500 has achieved certification as a Stand-On Moped within the L1e-B category by the DVSA, underscoring its compliance with stringent safety and regulatory standards. This distinction positions the Swifty GO GT500 as a pioneering force in the e-scooter industry, demonstrating a commitment to both innovation and safety.

With transport being the largest contributor to harmful emissions, and two-thirds of car journeys being less than 5 miles long, Swifty’s vehicles offer a clean, accessible and fun solution for urban and suburban travel.

“If we’re going to convince people to swap car journeys for micromobility, vehicles need to be safe to ride, have cargo capacity, safe battery technology and be able to be easily serviced and repaired. The GT500 is easy to ride and extremely low-cost to run. It delivers on all points.” Co-founder Camilla Iftakhar

Leading the way in battery safety

The Swifty GO is the only e-scooter to be powered by Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) a technology that recently won the company ‘Best Start-Up 2023’ at the influential Micromobility Industries Summit in the USA. LFP, the battery chemistry also used by Tesla, not only contains no harmful heavy metals like Nickel and Cobalt, but importantly, LFP is not prone to thermal runaway, making the Swifty GO battery one of the safest on the market.

The 15Ah LFP battery powers a 500W motor, can be fast-charged, and provides 25 miles of range. This makes the Swifty GO GT500 probably the cheapest mode of transport at only £0.006 per mile.

“The introduction of the SwiftyGO GT500 signifies a pivotal moment in British transportation history. We take great pride in being the first company to manufacture a road-legal e-scooter in the UK. We are confident that this milestone of innovation will influence the future of sustainable transportation, both in the UK and beyond.” Co-founder Jason Iftakhar

What’s the current legal status of e-scooters in the UK?

Privately owned e-scooters are not legal to ride on UK roads. The GT500 is the first and only Stand-On Moped available in the UK (L1e-B category) and is available to pre-order now for summer delivery.

Tromox MC10 Grabs Attention at EICMA 2023

Tromox MC10 Grabs Attention at EICMA 2023 with its Focus on Sustainability, Environment, and Urban Traffic Management.

Tromox is making heads turn at the EICMA (International Cycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition) 2023 taking place currently in Milan, Italy, thanks to its new MC10 electric bike. The first e-bike in the off-road segment from the globally acclaimed manufacturer, MC10 has been designed to drive sustainable transportation, reduce environmental pollution, and improve urban traffic conditions.

Tromox, a leading manufacturer of electric motorcycles, is going great guns at the ongoing EICMA (International Cycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition) 2023. The company’s latest innovation MC10 electric bike is gaining a lot of attention at the motorcycle industry’s largest trade fair because of its emphasis on sustainability, protection of the environment, and enhancing traffic conditions in urban areas. The first ever off-road electric motorcycle from Tromox, MC10 has all the attributes of becoming a game changer in the electric mobility industry.

As the need for a greener future continues to gain momentum, policymakers worldwide are advocating the implementation of sustainable transportation. This drive calls for a mode of transportation with a positive environmental, economic, and social impact on the world. Compared to all their traditional counterparts, electric bikes have the potential to revamp the automobile industry with their eco-friendly features.

e-bikes are widely accepted as the future of sustainable transportation primarily because they reduce the carbon footprint of commuters. Unlike scooters and motorcycles that emit carbon dioxide into the environment, electric bikes have almost zero emissions because they don’t use any fossil fuel. According to a study by the European Cyclists Federation, even compared to just 150 grams per mile for an electric car, an electric bike releases a negligible 2.5 to 5 grams of carbon dioxide per mile.

A recent research by climate scientist Tom Lent found that compared to electric cars, electric motorcycles are 10 to 30 times more efficient at fighting climate change. Also, compared to a 30 mpg gas car, an e-bike emits 40 to 140 times fewer pounds of greenhouse gases. The same study also found that 30 to 100 times more miles can be traveled per pound of battery by e-bikes than by an electric car.

Tromox has been playing its part in the worldwide movement to protect the environment and its MC10 electric motorcycle safeguards the environment and its resources in multiple ways as summarized below.

  • According to recent reports, fossil fuels account for 95% of the world’s overall demand for transportation energy and approximately 28% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. This over-reliance on fossil fuels and high emission of carbon dioxide can be reduced significantly by taking electric bikes mainstream.
  • By reducing emissions, MC10 electric bikes can not only help counter global warming but also reduce major urban issues such as air pollution, smog, etc. This is critical to ensuring a healthier environment for humans as well as animals.
  • MC10 users can help address the global power crisis by charging their batteries at off-peak hours. This minimizes their energy consumption while significantly reducing the load on the power grid.
  • The longer-lasting batteries of MC10 electric bikes contribute far less waste compared to traditional ones. These lithium-ion batteries don’t contain harmful contaminants such as lead and are recyclable.

With its all-new MC10 e-bikes, Tromox also hopes to improve urban traffic conditions around the world. By providing an alternative mode of transportation and alleviating traffic congestion, it looks to ensure a smoother flow of traffic and shorter commute times for all. MC10 riders can not only save on fuel costs, insurance expenses, and parking fees, but they will also benefit from lower operational and maintenance costs.

“Transportation is the largest contributor to greenhouse gasses across the globe and electric bike riding is one of the most effective avenues as we work toward becoming carbon neutral by 2050. This is where our new MC10 electric bike comes in. We are confident that the futuristic design of MC10 can redefine the concept of urban mobility by delivering a more environmentally friendly and convenient way to travel,” said a senior spokesperson from Tromox.

Some of the most compelling features of MC10 electric motorcycles include

  • Lightweight body and optimized front fork angle provide effortless control for off-road fun
  • SC-Heart’s high-performance mid-mounted electric motor
  • SC-Heart’s high-performance mid-mounted electric motor delivers a peak power of 11kw and a top speed of 90km/h.
  • An intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) provides protection against temperature, over current, short circuit, overcharge, over-discharge, voltage, and MOS fault.
  • Front and rear wheels equipped with highly durable and resilient wire-spoke hubs provide exceptional shock absorption for a more comfortable off-road experience.
  • The TR-3C (Comfort, Control, Cross) rear suspension system for precise steering control and mitigation of ground impacts.
  • Equipped with 30+ sensors, featuring 4G and Bluetooth communication for high-precision and responsive data transmission between the vehicle, owner, and backend systems.
  • The M-Space 3.0 Intelligent System leverages network collaboration and data intelligence to digitize the physical actions of riding.

Yamaha’s new PW-XM flagship eMTB drive unit

Yamaha’s new PW-XM flagship eMTB drive unit: Marking thirty years as the pioneer of the e-Bike system.

In recent years the global demand for eBikes has expanded dramatically as bike manufacturers have fully embraced the latest drive unit technology and introduced stylish new models offering increased range and performance. The eBike segment now accounts for a significant proportion of the total bicycle market, and this quiet and economical form of transport is the fastest-growing sector in zero emission personal mobility.

Yamaha Motor pioneered the first e-Bike back in 1993. It mounted the first iteration of the company’s signature Power Assist System (PAS), in which an electric motor is used to provide an assistive force to the pedalling power of the rider in a manner that feels natural and in tune with human perceptions. Simply named the “PAS” after its headline feature, the bicycle was hailed as the first of its kind in the world and enjoyed a successful market debut.

Key factors behind the worldwide success of Yamaha’s range of compact, high torque drive units include class-leading electronic control technology that provides instant power with a seamless and natural feeling – as well as high quality, outstanding reliability, and a first-class global backup.

New PW-XM: Yamaha’s new ultra-light flagship eMTB motor

The new PW-XM is the lightest drive unit in the range, and its launch 30 years after Yamaha invented the eBike underlines just how far this zero-emission technology has progressed.

Aimed at the high-end eMTB market, the PW-XM features a specifically-designed magnesium housing that keeps its overall weight down to just 2.6 kg. Yamaha has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of specialist magnesium components for its 1,000 cc R1M Supersport motorcycle, and this knowledge has been used in the construction of the ultra-light PW-XM.

With the reduced weight and the improved heat dissipation, this flagship motor is able to produce consistently strong torque even when under high loads for long periods.

As well as standing for ‘Magnesium’, the ‘M’ in PW-XM is also a reference to the motor’s assembly place in Morimachi, Japan – a bike-centric city famous for its mountain biking and cycling tourism, making it the perfect place for the birth of this new flagship eMTB drive unit.

Highest torque-to-weight ratio

With a maximum torque figure of 85 Nm and weight of just 2.6 kg, the PW-XM has the highest torque-to-weight ratio in the Yamaha range, making it an ideal drive unit for eMTB applications. It is also fully compatible with Yamaha’s existing PW-X3 and PWseries S2 drive units, enabling manufacturers to create three different eBikes using the same chassis design.

Yamaha Pure Ride: Ideal mountain biking power delivery

With its minimal external dimensions combined with Yamaha’s highest torque-to-weight ratio, the PW-XM is designed specifically for the premium eMTB market. Its compact layout offers greater freedom to bike manufacturers in their next generation chassis designs – and the powerful torque ensures strong performance on Alpine tracks, steep hills or sandy trails.

Pure Ride is how Yamaha describes the unique power delivery of the new PW-XM. Using state-of-the-art sensing electronics including Automatic Assist Mode, tuning detection algorithms and Zero Cadence Technology, the PW-XM rider will experience strong, seamless and natural feeling power at all times.

Displays and batteries

The new PW-XM can be paired with any of the company’s displays and batteries, best in conjunction with the minimalistic and highly technical Interface X.

PW-XM Product Highlights

  • All new premium eMTB drive unit, designed for extreme off-road challenges as well as sporty trail rides.
  • Best in class riding experience: 85 Nm and 2.6 kg – Yamaha’s most powerful and lightest design, with the highest torque-to-weight ratio.
  • Magnesium housing, manufactured in house using Yamaha Motor’s motorcycle technology, ensures highest quality look and feel.

Powerstage RR Limited Edition: The first carbon-framed Ducati e-MTB

The e-MTB range for 2024 expands with the introduction of the Powerstage RR Limited Edition, Ducati’s most exclusive e-enduro model developed to tackle the most extreme off-road conditions. The name Powerstage, in fact, recalls a new type of special stage recently introduced in the e-enduro circuits which consists in tackling, in addition to the classic downhill stages, a technical uphill route, testing both the skills of athletes competing in the races and the performance level of the vehicle.

Powerstage RR Limited Edition is a concentration of technology and advanced components, defined by eliminating compromises with the aim of offering maximum performance.

The “full carbon” frame has undergone lengthy testing on the toughest routes with a single goal: to guarantee maximum performance in the enduro field. The choices on the arrangement of the carbon layers and on the types of fibre intertwining are the result of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) which allows to identify the points subject to greater stress, which therefore require greater strength. More attention to stiffness has been given to the steering area, the rear chain stay and the engine area reinforced by two ribs (T-Ribs).

On the frame there are many other high-quality functional details, such as the passage of internal cables, protected by a steering stop system (T-Stopper), bearings on the joints, in direct contact with the carbon without the use of bushings and an asymmetrical rear chain stay, which in addition to a captivating design offers better responsiveness and uphill traction.

The geometric solutions adopted make the Powerstage RR extremely fast and stable on the roughest routes. The verticalised 78° seat tube angle allows the rider to assume an optimal position in the saddle on technical uphill sections, and a slack 64° head tube angle helps to overcome any obstacle at top speeds.

The new Shimano EP801 drive unit represents a benchmark for the category and maintains the native characteristics of the EP8: 250 Watts of nominal power and 85 Nm of torque, always delivered with the utmost fluidity and naturalness over a wider cadence range than ever before. The new system features two preconfigured assistance profiles: “long ride”, to favour autonomy on long tours and “fast ride”, to enjoy maximum performance on shorter outings. By means of the “Fine Tune” mode present on the Shimano “E-Tube Project” app, it is possible to create your own profiles thanks to the extensive possibilities for customising the electric assistance. The removable 630Wh Shimano battery is positioned inside the “verticalised” downtube in order to lower the centre of gravity, improving the balance of the bike.

The Öhlins RXF38 m.2 air fork (180 mm travel) and the Öhlins m.2 spring shock absorber with TTX technology (170 mm travel) are fully adjustable in both rebound and compression, at high and low speeds, ensuring precision riding and stability.

The SRAM GX AXS 12-speed wireless rear electronic shifting provides immediate and precise gear-shifts at all times. The Braking First brakes with customised Ducati Corse levers and 203 mm thick 3 mm discs are among the most powerful currently on the market.

The Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels with differentiated format (29” front, 27.5” rear) with variable thickness carbon rims help to further improve steering precision, guaranteeing an excellent weight/strength ratio. The tyres are Pirelli Scorpion Enduro S on the front and Pirelli Scorpion EMTB-S on the rear to offer maximum grip and adherence.

The equipment is completed by a telescopic seat post, a Renthal carbon handlebar and a Fizik saddle with special integrated tool holder.

Giorgio Favaretto, Head of e-Bicycle Business – “Ducati’s pedal assisted bicycle project took shape with the launch of the MIG-RR, the first e-mtb produced in collaboration with Thok E-Bikes. In 2022 the range of E-Bikes has been made even more complete and performing. Today, with the new Powerstage RR, Ducati strengthens its presence in the premium-range e-mountain bike segment, aimed at even more demanding bikers.”

The livery designed by Aldo Drudi in collaboration with the Centro Stile Ducati is inspired by the Desmosedici GP23 of the official MotoGP team, enhancing the unique character of this e-mtb produced in a limited edition of 230 numbered units, a figure that recalls the denomination of the racing bike.

The new Powerstage RR Limited Edition will be previewed in the paddock area during the upcoming German Grand Prix at Sachsenring and can already be ordered from the Ducati dealer network and online at www.ducati.com.

The Borgo Panigale manufacturer is gearing up to welcome all enthusiasts from 21 to 25 June at Eurobike (Frankfurt, Pavilion 8, stand I03) with the 2024 e-Bicycle range.

Following the company’s recent announcements regarding the new NEO’s electric scooter as well as the introduction of the Moro 07, Wabash and Crosscore eBikesthe launch of these innovative and stylish new BOOSTER models underlines Yamaha’s ongoing commitment towards establishing itself as one of the major brands in the European 2-wheel EV market.

Initiated at the beginning of 2022, Yamaha’s Switch ON strategy represents the beginning of an exciting new era in the design and production of the next generation of electric vehicles. Many commuters are now actively seeking zero emission personal transportation, and the growing range of electric Yamaha models offers a clean, reliable and efficient solution for commuting, leisure and sporting applications.

Created with Yamaha’s 30 years of EV experience

Yamaha introduced the world’s first production eBike in 1993, and now, 30 years later, the premium Japanese brand is at the forefront of the development, design and manufacture of zero emission 2-wheel electric scooters, eBikes and pedelecs. Yamaha is also a key manufacturer of drive units that power many brands of eBikes produced by other manufacturers. At the same time as being a major producer of zero emission vehicles that help to contribute towards a cleaner environment, Yamaha has also accelerated its programme to become a carbon neutral manufacturer by 2035.

BOOSTER Easy

New BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER

Yamaha’s new BOOSTER Easy eBike and BOOSTER S-pedelec electric have been developed in Europe to meet the rapidly increasing demand for clean, quiet and accessible urban transport. A few decades ago, Yamaha’s legendary BW’s scooter – along with the best-selling MBK Booster – captured the imagination of a generation of younger riders who were looking for fun and freedom on two wheels. Powered by a class-leading Yamaha drive unit and featuring a rugged and timeless chassis design, the new electric BOOSTER models are designed to offer the today’s urban dwellers an easy, enjoyable and affordable way to move around their towns and cities with zero emissions.

BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER: What’s the difference?

Yamaha’s new BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER look virtually identical and are technically very similar, sharing the same lightweight chassis design. The difference is in their performance: BOOSTER Easy is an eBike with a maximum pedal assisted speed of 25km/h, while the BOOSTER is an AM licence S-pedelec or electric moped that can power to a maximum pedal assisted speed of 45km/h.

Contemporary and minimalistic design

Fun to ride, simple to maintain and accessible to an extremely wide and diverse range of customers of all ages and backgrounds, the BOOSTER models are the spiritual successors to the original ‘fat tyre’ 50cc Yamaha and MBK scooters that played a big part in the lives of thousands of European teenagers growing up in the 1980s and 90s.

The contemporary and minimalist design features an exposed diecast aluminium front frame as well as spoked wheels with fat 20” x 4” tyres, and a classic U-frame configuration that makes getting on and off so easy.   Driven by an ultra-compact and lightweight Yamaha PW-S2 drive unit that delivers seamless power, the new BOOSTER models are ready to make every part of the metropolis easily accessible to the new generation of riders who live, work and play in the city.

BOOSTER Easy

Exclusive Yamaha body components

The BOOSTER models benefit from a range of exclusive chassis components that add extra fun and functionality to the look and feel of these new zero emission vehicles. The front end of the bike features Yamaha-exclusive fork covers, a front plate cover and front mudguard as well as a Supernova headlight to give a sleek and coordinated look.

Cables are hidden away behind ducts for cleaner lines, and a chain cover and engine covers underline the BOOSTERS’ high quality of finish. The rear carrier provides plenty of carrying space, and both models feature an adjustable Royal Orbis seat and Integrated Koso LED taillight.

Comfortable and agile, perfect for urban mobility

The BOOSTER models represent the next generation in urban mobility and are amongst the most accessible powered two wheel models available today. Riding comfort is assured on uneven road surfaces thanks to the fat 20” x 4” tyres that offer excellent grip on different road surfaces. The adjustable seat height enables riders of varying sizes to find their ideal riding position – and, together with the shock absorbing high-profile tyres, the smooth front suspension soaks up the bumps. As well as offering easy ingress, the strong and simple U-frame design with its unique diecast aluminium front section ensures a low centre of gravity for Easy agility, making this zero emission 2-wheeler the smarter way to move.

Smooth and reliable Yamaha power

Yamaha has 30 years worth of experience in the design and manufacture of high-tech eBike drive units, and the BOOSTER models are equipped with the very latest PWseries S2 motor that is one of the most sophisticated designs in the class. Developed with the philosophy that ‘less is more’ the quiet-running PWseries S2 drive unit is extremely light and compact, weighing just 2.85 kg.

Producing 75Nm, the PWseries S2 has one of the highest torque-to-weight ratios in its class, giving the BOOSTER smooth and natural acceleration. In addition to its seamless power delivery, this reliable high-tech design also benefits from a number of class leading electronic control technologies that deliver an enjoyable and refined riding experience. Yamaha’s Zero Cadence technology provides instant assistance as soon as pedalling input is sensed, and the Automatic Support Mode provides additional power assistance when necessary – such as on hills or into headwinds – to ensure an easier and enjoyable riding experience.

Riders can also select the Zero Mode that completely disengages the drive unit and solely uses pedal power – and the Walk Assist Mode makes pushing the vehicle easy in situations such as pedestrian only zones where riding is not permitted.

BOOSTER S-pedelec electric

630 Wh 36V Yamaha battery

Both the BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER are equipped with a 630Wh 36V battery that provides the PWseries S2 drive unit with an instant and reliable supply of power. The quickly detachable unit is located centrally for easy access as well as centralising mass for agile and responsive handling – and battery charging can be carried out both in-situ and remotely if the unit is removed.

Performance and range

BOOSTER Easy has a top assisted speed of 25km/h to comply with European eBike legislation – and riders can select the Zero mode for faster pedal-only riding on downhills. Five modes are available – +ECO, ECO, STD, HIGH and AUTO, enabling the rider to choose the appropriate setting to suit the local terrain and their individual range requirements.

The torque ratio supplied by the Yamaha drive unit is set at 50% for +ECO mode and goes up to 280% in HIGH mode, and the typical range with a 75 kg rider is up to 120 km in +ECO mode through to 60 km in HIGH mode.

BOOSTER is being classed as an electric moped (L1e) riders requires an AM licence and the appropriate insurance. The +ECO, ECO, STD, HIGH and AUTO modes can be selected by the rider to match the conditions, and a range of 110 km(+ECO mode) up to 50km (HIGH mode) can be achieved with a 75kg rider.

The torque ratio supplied by the Yamaha drive unit starts at 60% in +ECO mode and increases to 400% in HIGH mode, giving this electric moped a drive unit assistance reducing at 40km/h and stopping before 45km/h.

Intuitive user interfaces

BOOSTER is equipped with the latest centrally located Yamaha Display C user interface featuring a large 2.8″ full colour dot matrix TFT display and a separate control switch. Information displayed includes battery capacity, riding speed, assist mode, range, clock, trip distances, cadence, calorie consumption and time. A range of fitness and navigation apps can be accessed by connecting a Smartphone via Bluetooth® to enhance the overall riding experience.

BOOSTER Easy features Yamaha’s simple to read Display A interface that’s equipped with a 1.7″ LCD screen. Its basic design features integral buttons, and ‘always on’ information includes speedometer, battery capacity indicator and assist mode, as well as selectable trip meter, odometer and range.

Omnichannel: a seamless buying experience for Yamaha BOOSTER customers

To ensure that every customer experiences the highest levels of satisfaction from their initial enquiry right through to the purchase and delivery of their new BOOSTER Easy and BOOSTER, Yamaha has developed an Omnichannel distribution system that delivers a seamless buying experience from start to finish.

The heart of the system is a new e-commerce platform working in partnership with the new network of eBike Experience Centres operating within Yamaha’s existing European PTW network. The key advantage of the Omnichannel system is that customers can visit a Yamaha eBike Experience Centre to see and feel the eBike, take a test ride and seek advice from the fully trained dealer personnel before placing their order with confidence.

Once they have chosen their new BOOSTER the customer can go online to confirm their purchase and arrange home delivery (only for BOOSTER Easy) or pick up at the dealer. This new industry-leading system is designed to offer customers the best combination of on site and online services – and Omnichannel removes the uncertainty that is sometimes associated with a purely virtual sales experience where there is no physical element or human interaction.

Motul Now Available For Cycle Enthusiasts

MOTUL is using its high level of expertise in the lubricant and vehicle care sectors to enter the bicycle market for the first time – with eight new consumer products – as the launch of its new global Bicycle programme.

For 170 years, Motul has built up a unique reputation for quality and innovation with automotive enthusiasts and, on two wheels, with the most demanding riders. Becoming the top selling lubricant brand in the country for Motorbikes has come through its products being renowned for both performance and protection. This has come about through a passion for excellence and a willingness to confront some of the biggest technological challenges.

Everything this embodies has now been put into Motul’s new range of Bicycle products. For example, two different chain lubricants use innovative ester technology – originally developed for motor sports – to guarantee exceptionally long-lasting lubrication with a particularly stable molecular structure.

The Bicycle market is not only booming, it is also a fantastic mix of enthusiasm and embracing a very modern, efficient way to travel, to move, to exercise, and much more. Cycling today is a mix of tradition, technology and passion.

The new Motul Bike line comprises a highly effective and environmentally friendly range of products. Each has been specifically designed with the benefit of Motul’s expertise and experience for two wheels and four. The range is the first ever to be distributed across the globe with both a high performance and sustainable offer:

“We wanted to be the experts for performance and sustainable products – to mix both,” explains Callum Goodland, Motul UK Country manager. “Some of our competitors are really good on the performance side of bicycle products but are lacking in sustainability. Others are strong in sustainability but not on performance. So, we see that sweet spot as a good market for us, as we offer both qualities.”

All Motul Bike Care products are sustainably produced and packaged, employing biodegradable care and maintenance fluids, which are contained in 100% recycled packaging or made from bio-source plastic.

The Cleaners have been developed with the best materials for great performance, yet are specially formulated not to damage either the health of the user or, indeed, of the planet itself. Therefore, on the packaging, there are no pictograms warning of dangerous chemicals, because the formulas are clean, solvent-free and water-based. This is also why Motul doesn’t have any aerosols in the range.

The results are unique formulas, making use, in the case of the range’s Chain Lubes for instance, of Motul’s experience with Ester technology – which Motul introduced to the automotive world, having seen its benefits in aircraft lubrication – to offer the highest protection and optimal chain functioning, whatever the conditions.

Motul product manager Rebecca Ramos explains: “The idea came about two years ago. We saw a big increase in demand for bicycles due to Covid, and also people switching to new types of mobility that are healthier and more environmentally friendly. We thought it was a good opportunity as it’s a growing market and allows us to get into more diverse products. After our market research, we decided to target hobby cyclists, especially people who are really passionate about their bikes and want to gain some efficiencies. That’s why we developed our chain lubes with esters, for example. We tried to match what we’re doing with engine oils.”

This new range answers the four most important and essential needs for bicycle users: degreasing, cleaning, lubricating and providing preventive maintenance. Delivering the best in performance and protection is rooted deep in Motul’s core, as is the drive to explore new areas to expand the brand’s reach with enthusiasts, and the desire to be part of all types of mobility – both current and as new forms develop.

This new range initially comprises eight products:

Cleaning: Motul Frame Clean, Motul Dry Clean, Motul Chain Clean, Motul Brake Clean

Lubrication and Prevention: Chain Lube Dry, Chain Lube Wet, EZ Lube, Tubeless Tire Sealant

Always being one step ahead of the competition is already in MOTUL’s DNA. “With our chain lubricants, for example, we rely on a variation of the innovative ester technology used in our engine oils. But the extra effort in production certainly pays off later on,” explains Motul UK Technical Specialist, Has Tahier. “Lubricants with ester technology retain their excellent lubricating properties even after a long period of use and pro- vide optimal protection, especially for the hardest-working components such as gears, chains, or sprockets. This means they surpass the performance of existing chain lubricants, such as those which use PTFE. All bicycles are ideally protected against wear with these new products, no matter whether it’s a road bike, mountain bike, or even an e-bike,”

“We are very well known in Powersport, for example motorbikes, and, of course also in Motorsport. We see a lot of synergy between these arenas and bicycles,” comments Motul UK General Sales and Marketing Manager, Andy Wait. ‘For example, professional riders and race drivers invariably train on bicycles. These products are for really passionate people who love using their bikes, and who also look after them well. Motul Bike Care is a significant and entirely logical extension of Motul’s commitment and ambition. The first feedback, internationally, has been fantastic. I’d recommend that anyone who cares about their bicycle gives Motul Bike Care a try, as they’re good for your bike and good for your conscience!!”

The Ducati E-Bikes range is updated for 2022

The Ducati E-Bikes range is updated for 2022 and extends into the e-road segment with the new Futa.

The eighth episode of the Ducati World Première 2022 web series was dedicated by the Bologna-based manufacturer to the presentation of the Ducati powered by Thok E-Bikes family.

For the 2022 season, the big news is the Futa: the first Ducati racing bicycle with pedal assistance, which will also be available in a Limited Edition. The Ducati E-Bikes range is also updated with an evolution of the MIG-S and the presentation of the TK-01RR Limited Edition.

Giorgio Favaretto, Head of Ducati E-Bikes business –  “The Ducati E-Bikes project was born in 2019 and immediately set itself the goal of offering pedal-assist bicycles with which to live unique and memorable experiences. The updates to existing models and the presentation of the new Ducati Futa give a further push in this direction, making up an even more complete and higher-performance range of E-Bikes for 2022. In particular, the inclusion of the Futa allows us to welcome new enthusiasts of this world into our family”.

The Ducati MIG-S  is an agile, high-performance and fun All Mountain, born to tackle any trail and ensure maximum fun in any condition. For 2022, the electric mountain bike is renewed in its aesthetics with a brand-new sporty livery which, as in all models in the range, was designed by Aldo Drudi in collaboration with the Centro Stile Ducati. The MIG-S also takes an important evolutionary step from a technical point of view by welcoming the more high-performance Shimano EP8 engine together with updated components.

The new Shimano EP8 drive unit represents a benchmark for the category. It is an exceptionally light engine (2.6 kg in weight), capable of delivering up to 85 Nm of torque with a maximum servo assistance ratio of 400%. In this engine the torque is always delivered with fluidity and naturalness to ensure excellent control of the vehicle. Thanks to the Shimano E-tube Project App, it is also possible at any time to adapt the character of the motor to your needs even via your smartphone wirelessly, by adjusting maximum torque and assistance timing.

The Ducati MIG-S can explore any path, ensuring excellent handling for the rider. The handling of this e-mtb is made possible by the high-level components it is equipped with.
The new suspensions (RockShox 35 RC fork and RockShox SuperDeluxe shock absorber) are adjustable and have a travel of 150 mm at the front and 140 mm at the rear, ideal for tackling any type of path in safety. The 12-speed SRAM transmission is even more precise and reliable, while the brakes are the powerful 4-piston SRAM Guide T with 203 mm discs. The 29″ front and 27.5″ rear THOK e-plus wheels are equipped with Pirelli Scorpion Enduro S tyres at the front and Pirelli Scorpion EMTB-S at the rear to offer maximum grip and traction on the most demanding stretches and at higher speeds. The 630 Wh Shimano battery is positioned externally, under the downtube, ensuring an extremely low centre of gravity and maximizing stability.

In 2022 the range expands also with the presentation of the new Ducati TK-01RR Limited Edition, an even more exclusive version of the Ducati e-enduro with which to tackle off-road challenges. This limited edition is a concentrate of technology that confirms the key features of the TK-01RR version, but is enriched with more advanced components, with the aim of further improving performance, especially in difficult downhill sections.

The Öhlins DH38 dual-plate motorcycle-style air fork (180 mm travel) and the Öhlins TTX spring shock absorber (170 mm travel) ensure incredible control of the vehicle downhill, while still maintaining great efficiency on uphill stretches. The 11-speed Shimano Di2 XT rear electronic shifter always provides fast and precise shifting, while the Magura MT7 brakes with 220 mm discs at the front and 203 mm at the rear are also of motorcycle derivation and are among the most powerful available on the market.
The differentiated format Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels (29″ front, 27.5″ rear) with variable thickness carbon rims help to further improve riding precision, guaranteeing an excellent weight / strength ratio. The set-up is completed by a Renthal carbon handlebar, a Fizik saddle with a special integrated tool holder, and finally a carbon battery cover and skid plate.

The most important Ducati powered by Thok news for 2022 is called Ducati Futa. The name derives from the Futa Pass, the road that crosses the Italian Apennines connecting Bologna to Florence, well-known and much-appreciated by many Ducatisti. The Ducati Futa is a performing e-road, for those who want to train, have fun and pedal to their maximum even over long distances and when covering the most demanding climbs. A light E-Bike that embodies the Ducati spirit by focusing on design, innovation and fun in a perfect combination of comfort and performance.

The carbon fibre monocoque frame features a sport endurance geometry, but with technical choices oriented to aerodynamics and speed. The compact rear triangle, with lowered seat-stays, makes the E-Bike comfortable, while generating less aerodynamic drag. The rear frame is stiff laterally, precisely by virtue of the choice of stays positioning and favours a better transmission of power to the wheel, as well as increasing the responsiveness of the bike. Top tube, downtube, seat post and fork blades are expertly profiled, and their reliefs are highlighted by the play of colours of the livery, which sees grey and black as the main colours with accents in Ducati Red.

The engine, located on the rear hub, is the FSA System HM 1.0 with 250W and 42Nm of torque which boasts a fluid and natural delivery in all conditions and is among the lightest and most compact in its category (3.98 kg). This engine is equipped with 5 assistance levels that can be selected via the Garmin control on the handlebar, which allow you to manage the desired level of support. The FSA app, available for iOS and Android devices, allows the rider to view statistics, system status, remaining battery life and charge status quickly and intuitively. Through the app it is also possible to download any software updates and communicate with FSA service centres around the world.

Thanks to its low weight (12.4 kg in M size) and to an almost imperceptible engine resistance, exceeding 25Km/h*, the Ducati Futa is always responsive and fast on flat stretches. The standard FSA K-Force WE group set features an exceptionally smooth and fast 2×12-speed wireless electronic shifting, powerful 160mm disc brakes with adjustable UD carbon interchangeable levers and crankset with pedal arms in carbon.
The Vision AGX30 wheels with carbon rims are fitted with 35 mm Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLR tyres, which guarantee smoothness, comfort and grip, combined with considerable strength. The 250 Wh FSA battery is integrated in the downtube and an optional 250 Wh range extender is available to cover even longer distances.

The new Futa will also be available in a Limited Edition: available only in 50 numbered units, created for those looking for an e-road with even more sophisticated standard equipment that makes the bike even lighter (12.2 kg).

The Futa Limited Edition has an exclusive livery inspired by Ducati Corse racing universe. This special model maintains the features of the Futa, but integrates them with top-of-the-range components to offer maximum riding comfort and top performance in any situation. Standing out among these components are the Campagnolo Super Record EPS electromechanical groupset, a benchmark model in terms of performance built with quality materials such as carbon, titanium and ceramic bearings, the Vision Metron 40 SL wheels with carbon rims, at the top for weight-aerodynamics ratio and the highly aerodynamic Vision Metron carbon fibre handlebar with integrated stem and cables.
The Ducati Futa Limited Edition is equipped as standard with the 250 Wh range extender and Garmin Edge Explorer GPS bike computer with customized handlebar mount, which provides dedicated maps and functions for road cycling.

The models that make up the new Ducati E-Bikes powered by Thok range can be ordered from the Ducati dealer network** and online at ebike.ducati.com.

CAKE Announces The – Work Series

CAKE announces the :work series – electric mopeds and motorbikes optimized for mobile workforces.

CAKE (www.ridecake.com), the Swedish maker of premium lightweight, electric motorbikes, today announces the launch of CAKE :work; a new series of powerful and durable electric utility vehicles designed and developed for professional applications such as delivery drivers (food and parcel), craftsmen, and service professionals.

With the launch of the :work series, CAKE will speed up the transition to sustainable cities and facilitate significant cuts in emissions by offering solutions and opportunities for businesses striving to develop environmentally sustainable and more efficient services and logistics. The new series of professional-grade electric two wheeled vehicles addresses several urgent challenges facing metropolitan areas worldwide.

Globally there are two billion fossil fuel-driven vehicles on the road that emit five gigatons of CO2 annually

“The CAKE :work series offers the immediate potential of moving last-mile deliveries and mobile workforces away from traditional solutions for urban transportation, clearly exceeding the efficiency of both cars and bicycles, making this initiative our single most important contribution to date in speeding up the process towards a zero-emission society”, says Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of Cake. “Any industry that handles large volumes of short-haul transportation of both people and goods understands the daily struggle with traffic jams, parking fines, and the need to find both economical and sustainable fossil fuel-free vehicles. At CAKE, we truly believe that the future for last-mile deliveries will be electric and run on two wheels.”

CAKE for professionals
Designed and developed in close collaboration with different professional user groups, the new :work series builds upon CAKE’s three existing platforms: Kalk (high performance off road), Ösa (modular utility bike), and Makka (urban commuter). Optimizing power, reach, efficiency, and capacity, the adjustments and reinforcements specific to the :work series include an increased range that allows the bike to run for the full working day, and power support which enables workers to power electronic tools or regulate the temperature of food delivery boxes, for example. Additionally, :work has an increased towing capacity as well as a more compact design, such as narrower handlebars, allowing riders to more easily weave between cars. CAKE is also offering a wide range of purpose-built accessories that will allow riders

The :work series is built to endure the demands of the working professional, offering a low total cost of ownership and, as a result, increased profit margins. Additionally, much like the other series, they are designed to have minimum impact on the environment. This makes it an ideal solution for last-mile deliveries (an industry which is expected to be worth over $200 billion by 2027), the e-commerce delivery sector (growing by more than 78 percent in 100 of the world’s largest cities), and food deliveries, which are predicted to grow by 60 percent.

The bikes
Makka :work – the lightweight and agile urban shuttle comes in two new models (45 km/h and 25 km/h). Now with more peak power, up to 110 km range and new accessories to carry more loads. The new Makka model comes with external power outlets, allowing users to supply off-grid power to electric gadgets as well as heavy-duty power tools like grinders, drills, and more.

New Stealth Electric Bikes Off Road And Homologated 2022 Range

Stealth Electric Bikes, the leading company in the field of high-performance electric vehicles presents its new 2022, off road and homologated range.

After signing strategic partnerships earlier this year with C-Creative of San Marino for the design and development of its new vehicle platforms and also Vmoto Soco Italia for the synergic development of the sales and after-sales network in Italy, Stealth’s new products are set to change the way we think about light weight personal mobility and off-road recreation.

Technology, reliability, and performance are the key areas on which the company has focused its attention to create a mechanically perfect product and to make the riding experience even more exciting.

Technical improvements have been made in several areas, from CrMo monocoque chassis, to the high torque direct drive hub motors.

The frame and swingarm on the H-52, F-37 and B-52 models have been completely redesigned with updated geometries and improved ergonomics to improve high speed stability with provide a more comfortable cockpit for the rider.

Handling over rough terrain has also seen a significant improvement with updated suspension and the wheel diameters increased from 24” to 27.5” across the board.

Stopping has not been forgotten with the company dropping the traditional MTB braking systems in favour of motocross derived brakes and 250mm rotors ensuring shorter stopping distances, more precise lever control and no chance of brake fade on the gnarly downhill trails

The high torque, direct drive hub motors used on the H-52’s, F-37’s B-52’s have all undergone a number of optimisations with improvements in cooling provided by a combination of circumferential heat transfer fins and ferro-magnetic cooling technology.

Throttle mapping and power delivery have also been improved to provide operators with more control and a much smoother ride.

On both of the H-52 and B-52 variants, the most powerful in the range, NCM battery technology has been improved to increase energy density and overall capacity and range by up to 25%.

HStealth Electric BikesThe latest generation Stealth B-52s, (available in Q1 of 2022) will no longer use the traditional Suntour 9 speed Vbox and will be replaced by Stealth’s proprietary Hex Box transmission. Tougher than ever, the Hex Box’s oil bath transmission provides new B-52 pilots with 6 pedals speeds, all controlled by a new electromechanical gear shifting mechanism. Doing away with the old fashioned cable operated gear shifter simplifies the system and has it’s own in-built in power source which will allow pilots to continue to shift gears even after the main traction battery has been depleted.

The off-road range currently consists of the following versions: P-7, P-7R, F-37 and H-52 which wil all be available from the beginning of December from Stealth dealers across the world and will be followed up by the B-52 which will come online early in 2022.

As an extension to the family, Stealth will be introducing L1eB homologated variants known as the H-52S, B-52S and F-37S which fall into the same registration category as most 50cc motorcycles/scooters across Australia, Europe and the UK. The new “S” models will benefit from all of the technical improvements made to the off road models with the addition of lights, indicators, mirrors, mudguards and license plate in order to meet the registration requirements of the vehicle.

The homologated variants will be available at Stealth dealers from March 2022

We look forward to seeing you at EICMA, Hall 22 stand Q20, to see the new Stealth Electric Bikes live with Giovanni Castiglioni and Adrian Morton at your disposal to show you the this first step of Stealth’s future mobility strategy.

Braih, Spanish technology and design in the creation of the new category of ebike

● Braih Super e-Bikes are more than bikes, halfway between normal e-Bikes and motorbikes. Unstoppable and versatile machines, with great stability, comfort and one of the highest ranges on the market, 184km (114mi) under the R200 certification.

● Entirely handmade in Spain, handcrafted and with an exclusive design, the Super e-Bikes are presented today to the market with a limited edition launch.

● They are designed based on three clear pillars: exclusivity, performance and technology.

● Braih thus responds to a demand from users who are looking for different riding sensations from an e-Bike, valuing a ground-breaking aesthetic and superior comfort and stability compared to other bikes.

Braih Bikes presents today its first bike, the Super e-Bike, an electric bike handmade in Spain, with a torque of up to 160Nm (114Nm in the 250W versions), a range of 184 km and a groundbreaking design, clearly inspired by off-road motorcycles.

The Starting Line Edition is a limited launch edition of 150 units, in which you can find exclusive and numbered Super e-Bikes that leave no one indifferent thanks to their eye-catching design, high quality features and the careful attention to detail typical of the first edition.

The RC1 250 and RC1-R 250 are the launch models, approved under the EPAC cycle and limited to 250W and 25km/h. Both models come with high quality standard features, such as a 1,254Wh battery, a Bafang MM G510 central motor, limited to 250W, and 6082-T6 aluminium backbone chassis handmade in Barcelona (with 185 mm of rear travel) and mono-link swingarm, inspired by manufacturing solutions in the motorbike world.

“We have made accessible to users a different electric bike, with its own personality, which combines the riding sensations of an off-road motorcycle with the sporting experience of a bike. All this is the outcome of our great passion for the world of motorbikes and bikes, and the result of our many years of industrial experience leading the manufacture of components for trial and racing motorcycles”, says Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, CEO of Braih.

Braih has also developed for their Super e-Bikes a unique solution in the industry, implementing Bluetooth connectivity to the charging system. This solution allows to protect and extend the life of such a critical element as the battery, reducing the number of cycles and the stress produced by full charges. With this technological application, all the models in the range have an Intelligent Charge Management System through the Braih APP, which connects to the e-Bike and allows 3 different charge levels to be set, depending on how the battery is going to be used:

  • Storage, for when the bike is not going to be used immediately.
  • Daily use, charges to about 80% and offers enough range for most routes.
  • Full charge, only for when you need to use 100% of the e-Bike’s great range.

Braih will sell their Super e-Bikes exclusively online through their e-commerce, however, unlike other online D2C brands, Braih offers physical and mobile workshops, which are part of BraihTec, their international network of technical services, and where maintenance, repairs and warranty management of the bikes can be carried out.

The brand has opened the pre-order form for the first Super e-Bikes in stock, on their website https://en.braihbikes.com/ The bikes will be ready to be delivered to the first customers on the 1st of December. Available from €6,590.

About Braih Bikes

BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY

As a completely new concept between bicycle and motorbike, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY taps into fresh possibilities for the innovative, urban mobility of the future. It is one of five different concept vehicles that the BMW Group will use at the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich to showcase its vision of individual mobility in and around the urban setting.

Under the common umbrella of electric mobility, digitalisation and sustainability, these five pioneering concepts form a versatile and sustainably conceived mobility mix on two and four wheels that comprehensively addresses a highly diverse range of mobility needs.

BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and BMW i Vision AMBY.
AMBY stands for “Adaptive Mobility”. The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and the BMW i Vision AMBY (see BMW i Vision AMBY press release) interpret the fundamental idea of adaptive urban mobility on two wheels based on differing facets. Both vehicles are electrically powered with three speed levels for different types of road. The drive allows up to 25 km/h on cycle paths, up to 45 km/h on inner-city roads and up to a top speed of 60 km/h on multi-lane roads and out of town. A helmet, insurance licence plates and the relevant driving licence are required to be able to travel at higher speeds, however. While the BMW i Vision AMBY as a high-speed pedelec requires constant pedalling in order to gain assistance from the electric drive, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY is accelerated using the throttle grip and has footrests instead of pedals, as is typical of a motorcycle.

The modes available to the rider are stored in the app on the smartphone that connects to the respective AMBY vision vehicle.

Manual selection of the speed level is conceivable, as is detection of the road by means of geofencing technology, thereby allowing automatic adjustment of the top speed. As there is currently no legal basis for such a vehicle with a modular speed concept, the idea behind the AMBY vision vehicles is to prompt legislation that will enable this kind of set-up. In this way, the BMW Group is demonstrating that it will continue to be involved in providing mobility options in big cities in the future and offers innovative solutions.

New stimuli for emotional mobility on two wheels.
“The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY takes us into new territory. For us, the focus is on user behaviour – the question is: how will customers want to get around in the future? What will they expect their vehicle to be capable of? This was precisely the starting point of our deliberations. Our aim was to develop an extremely emotional vehicle for smart mobility in and around the city that offered maximum freedom. The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY really does enable our customers to experience urban life in a whole new way, cover distances more flexibly and “break free” of the city from time to time, too. At the same time, BMW Motorrad is consistently pursuing its electromobility strategy for urban conurbations. It’s a fascinating introduction to the world of BMW Motorrad that also promises maximum riding pleasure,” explains Edgar Heinrich, Head of Design BMW Motorrad.

The design – the DNA of BMW Motorrad.
The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY defies all existing categories: visually akin to the world of bicycles, it is a motorbike at heart. Its slender proportions promise ruggedness and adventure, while its design suggests clear echoes of the expressive style and layout of an BMW Enduro motorbike. With chunky treads on both the 26-inch front wheel, which has a thinner tyre, and the 24-inch rear wheel with its more rounded tyre, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY clearly shows that it is both willing and able to go anywhere. The firmly integrated seat with a height of 830 mm is just as typical a motorbike feature as the fixed footrests.

The seat also acts as a design element over the flat, rising upper frame section, creating a striking flyline. This produces a completely new, fresh look for BMW Motorrad – a link between the e-bike and motorbike world.
The large energy storage unit and drive unit form a dark graphic block at the centre of the frame.

The large-dimensioned bicycle fork on the front wheel features protectors and gives the entire front section a more massive, powerful look. A small headlight with the U-shaped BMW Motorrad light signature is a clear reference to the roots of the concept, as is the double LED element as a tail light. Another BMW Motorrad feature is that the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY is accelerated from the handlebars, as is customary on a motorbike.
With a total weight of just 65 kg, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY is significantly lighter than other motorbikes, ensuring it offers excellent manoeuvrability and agility.

Colour and material concept featuring depth and unexpected details.
As compared to a conventional combustion engine, the concept of the electric drive in the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY means there is little in the way of visible mechanics.
For this reason, its technical heart is deliberately disguised and showcased in a striking machine-like style. This accentuates the highly elaborated colour and material concept, which goes well beyond the traditional dark underlying colour scheme and use of white highlights.

In its use of materials, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY cross-references two other concept vehicles that will also see their world premiere at the IAA Mobility 2021: The BMW i Vision Circular and the BMW i Vision AMBY. The trim material used on the energy storage unit – known as “floating grey polymers” – is also used in the bumper of the BMW i Vision Circular. It consists of recycled plastic and can itself be fed back into the material cycle at the end of the product lifecycle. Meanwhile the material used for the seat is also to be found in the saddle of the BMW i Vision AMBY and in the tyres of the BMW i Vision Circular. Based on recycled plastic granulate and sporting a fascinating terrazzo look, it demonstrates how several materials can be given a second life with a new form and function.

Asymmetrical design of the sides of the vehicle.
In keeping with the unexpected, self-assured character of the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY, its two sides have deliberately been designed distinctively. On both sides, the white “AMBY” lettering catches the eye above the light-coloured drive unit, making a striking statement as a stylised graphic on the trim of the energy storage unit. While the lettering on the left gains additional visual depth from a colourfully shimmering, iridescent drop shadow, the inscription on the right appears deliberately without a drop shadow. Below the energy storage unit there are two iridescent elements that add a further accentuation.

On the right-hand side of the vehicle, three small turquoise blue tubes visibly emerge from the silhouette, clearly alluding to the electric heart of the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY. Next to this is a quote by Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad: „Electro-mobility will be very significant for the future of motorcycling. We foresee a slew of upcoming products with a focus on electric propulsion, particularly in the field of urban mobility. And I’m not only thinking of classic scooters here, but also of alternative modern, emotional products. Electro-mobility on two wheels needs to be really fun and adventurous and BMW is committed to developing corresponding products.”

On closer inspection, the interplay between the technoid pixel font with the classic serif font reflects a great attention to detail at several points: together these bridge the gap between the past and the future – just like the vision vehicle itself. The coordinates on the right are a reference to the BMW Motorrad Design Studio in Munich, where the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY came into being. On the opposite side, the letters “AMBY” also appear in Morse code, but with dashes visualising the dots. In their perfect interplay, all these carefully conceived details create a unique graphic and a highly contemporary sense of style.

The smartphone as the key.
The specially developed app enables the user to activate the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY for riding, read in their stored driving licence classes and make use of the appropriate insurance cover on an on-demand basis as required. In this way, the app performs the classic key function while also making use of the customary identification options provided by the smartphone such as Face ID. Basic functions and status queries (e.g. current charge status) are available as in the BMW App. Further developments and adjustments to the software can be provided to customers at any time via over-the-air updates.
The smartphone shown in the vision vehicle charges inductively on the magnetic holder in the rider’s lower field of vision. These connectivity options would also allow anti-theft protection and the freely programmable immobiliser to be offered as basic functions.
And the answer to the question “Where is my BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY?” would be just a click away on the smartphone, too.

Geofencing as a key technology.
Instead of choosing the riding mode yourself, geofencing technology combined with the detailed HERE map service could provide the required parameters for automatically adjusting speed levels (25/45/60 km/h) and the matching insurance cover. This technology enables the vehicle to detect the type of road, cycle path or slow-traffic area currently being used so that the maximum permitted speed can be automatically adjusted. In this way, the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY would transform from a vehicle similar to an S-pedelec to something that is more motorcycle-inspired. The user cannot override the mode. The required licence plate takes the form of an innovative display surface, so the mode selected at any given time can be easily recognised and read by other road users.

Additional technological innovations are conceivable for the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY, too: an optimised ABS system could further increase safety, as could an automatic high beam or brake light assistant, as well as daytime running lights. A tyre pressure monitoring system such as the one already available as an optional extra in BMW Group motorcycles is also conceivable. Finally, potential safety features could also include a distance radar with a range of up to 140 m to provide a visual and acoustic warning in the app when there is a vehicle approaching from behind.

The BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY shows one possible manifestation of what the modern, urban mobility of tomorrow might look like. It is intended as a blueprint to drive forward conversations about future-oriented travel in cities.
