A simple and effective security measure, the Wunderlich Keyless Fob Case with RFID Blocker helps keep your bike’s keyless fob protected against sophisticated hacking techniques employed by criminals.
As convenient as keyless operation is for owners, it can leave their machines vulnerable to theft. Thieves use an electronic relay device to intercept the keyless fob’s signal, and ‘trick’ the bike’s on-board computer into disarming the alarm and/or immobiliser, allowing it to be started and ridden away.
This can happen while the machine is parked on the owner’s property, with the key inside the house; the thieves don’t have to touch the machine or key, they simply need to be close enough to intercept the fob’s signal.
Wunderlich’s Keyless Fob Case contains an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) Blocker, which stops the fob’s signal being broadcast and also radio waves reaching it, preventing unauthorised access and use.
There are no programming requirements or complex operations to learn – whenever the keyless fob is in the case, it is protected.
Built to last and shield the key from everyday threats, like damage from being dropped or knocked, the Wunderlich Case is made from water-repellent and super tough fluorocarbon-impregnated Cordura® 1000 fabric.
It has a handy, integrated metal ring to attach the fob and is secured using Velcro for quick access.
As an added bonus, it makes the fob a lot easier to find in luggage or pockets.
The Wunderlich Key Case retails at £39- including VAT, and would make an ideal Christmas gift for unprotected biker friends. It is available from the UK’s #1 BMW accessory specialist www.nippynormans.com

Speedo Angels, market leaders in motorcycle dashboard protection, are celebrating their fifth birthday. The company sell over 120 different styles of screen protectors, and stock standard screen protectors, as well as Nano Glass and Tempered Glass options, plus water-resistant and anti-fog wing mirror kits.
The concept of Speedo Angels was born in the summer of 2015 when Company Director Matt took delivery of a Ducati 1199 Panigale. He was soon disappointed that the TFT dashboard had several light scratches and marks. After searching online to find a screen protector to fit, Matt found that he couldn’t buy a screen protector for his bike, and after more research, discovered that there was an incredibly small range of screen protectors available for motorcycles in general. Matt quickly set about creating his own and five years on, the company fulfil around 4,000 orders a month, sending screen protectors to motorcycle owners and suppliers all over the world.
Speedo Angels have built a reputation for selling a quality product at an excellent price, with free worldwide shipping.
To celebrate their fifth birthday with a bang, Speedo Angels have teamed up with R&G to offer one lucky winner £50 worth of R&G’s new Gleam Clean products, plus one product of their choice from the Speedo Angels range. To enter, simply visit @speedoangels on Instagram and follow the instructions there.
Why bother buying a dedicated sat nav like the TomTom Rider 550 when your smart phone will do? It’s exactly the question I asked myself before my 10 day tour around the Pyrenees. When we got stuck in the mountains and my mates smartphone had failed to find signal and cooked itself, I knew I’d made the right choice.
You’ll want the Rider 550 because its the latest dedicated motorcycle sat nav that TomTom has to offer and it includes worldwide mapping and pre-loaded motorcycle Points of Interests (POIs). Like any sat nav, you’ll need to consider how to mount it on your bike – look no further than the premium pack. It will remain on and charged and docks/undocks with a single click. You can fit the anti-theft system but I find it easier to take with me. The unit is totally weatherproof and has sufficient touch sensitivity, even through gloves.
The best bit about the TomTom 550 is the ‘Plan A Thrill’ feature. Select a destination and then adjust how wiggly or how hilly the route should be. The Rider 550 gets creative and takes you down anything but a motorway or dull A roads. I have found superb routes across the country that only a local would know exist, just add some common sense when you’re about to go green laning on your S1000RR.
It has regular speed camera updates and you can get your phone to talk to it through a dedicated TomTom app called MyDrive, but only via WIFI. The Rider550 syncs with a bluetooth headset too, but this is sometimes hampered by bluetooth connection issues. In summary – hassle free navigation wherever you are in the world. Reliable, weatherproof and with succinct instruction, you’ll find superb biking roads when you fit a TomTom 550.

Faulty batteries are the number one cause of vehicle breakdowns in the UK* but jump-starting a motorcycle with a flat lithium battery can do more harm than good and should not be attempted under any circumstances. That’s the stark warning from OptiMate, the battery-saving experts.
Manufacturers are increasingly fitting new motorcycles with lithium (LiFePO4) batteries, because they take up less space than the regular lead-acid equivalent. However, they tend to be smaller capacity (a lower Ah rating) and so discharge more quickly. A deeply discharged lithium battery needs to be recharged very carefully, but a high-voltage shock, like you get with a jump start, could cause severe damage, and even make it explode or catch fire.
Recovering the battery using a lithium-specific charger – such as the OptiMate Lithium 0.8A – is the safest way to bring a ‘dead’ battery back to life. It starts off charging slowly, to avoid overheating, balancing the four 3.2V cells inside the battery in the process, ensuring it is returned to peak condition.
The OptiMate Lithium 0.8A retails for £64.99 – considerably less than a replacement lithium battery.
Of course, prevention is better is better than cure – connecting a bike to a smart charger when not in use will keep it fully charged. Prices start at £42.99 for the OptiMate 1 Duo, which will charge both lead-acid and lithium batteries thanks to its microprocessor controlled software.

Auritech, the specialist hearing protection manufacturer, have opened their first studio, in Guildford, offering custom fit filtered ear plugs to motorcyclists and participants in other loud activities.
The Surrey based company had planned to open the studio in March, but understandably put the project on hold in light of the coronavirus crisis. This weekend the facility finally opened its doors, following Covid-19 protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with those used by audiologists, including masks and face shields for staff, as well as mandatory face coverings for clients during the quick and painless fitting process.
Auritech opened the studio to meet demand for their custom fitted ear protectors, which feature a patented ceramic filter to reduce harmful high frequency sound while allowing speech and vital ambient sounds to be clearly heard. By ensuring a perfect, bespoke fit, Auritech’s Custom Fit ear plugs offer maximum comfort and sound attenuation for the wearer.
Motorcyclists have traditionally been fitted for custom fit ear plugs at motorcycle shows, but with the pandemic effectively ruling those out in 2020, the new studio allows customers to visit the Surrey studio, close to the biking hotspots at Box Hill and Newlands Corner, and receive their bespoke protectors through the post, approximately 21 days after fitting.
The first customer through the door was Henry Allen, 32, who rode over two hours from Rushden in Northamptonshire to get fitted for a new set of custom fit ear plugs. The Triumph Sprint ST rider said: “I’ve ridden motorcycles from the age of nine and I have used other universal fit ear plugs in the past, but they become uncomfortable after a while. So, after reading the numerous positive reviews of the Auritech custom fit biker ear plugs, I decided to get my own.”
Mr Allen continued, “I like that they have a smaller profile as it reduces the discomforts I’ve had when using other products. Overall, the experience at Auritech’s new custom fit studio was great and the team were very accommodating, and I’m now eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new ear plugs.”
Marielle Duggan, director at Auritech added: “We’ve been looking at opening a studio for quite some time now, to allow us to offer our custom fit product away from shows, but understandably this was not possible due to the lockdown restrictions in place. We opened at the weekend, putting stringent hygiene measures in place and ensuring that our staff and customers are wearing appropriate PPE, in the same way they would in an audiologist clinic or in a barber’s shop.
“The process itself is quick and painless. Our qualified technician injects a specialist moulding paste into the ear canal to take an accurate impression and create a mould, which is sent to our laboratory and used to create a set of custom fit earplugs for the client, who can choose from a soft medical-grade silicone or a harder, UV-treated material with hypoallergenic coating. Each plug is fitted with one of our patented acoustic attenuation ceramic filters, which are tuned to block out harmful high pitched frequencies caused by wind noise, while allowing deeper tones, such as the bike’s exhaust note, sirens and speech to be clearly heard.”
In a world where PPE has become part of the ‘new normal’ Auritech is urging motorcyclists to remember to wear hearing protection while riding. Previous research has shown that wind noise can generate as much as 95dB at 62mph, enough to cause permanent hearing damage after just 15 minutes of riding without hearing protection. At 74mph, damage can be done after just seven minutes, yet recent research conducted by Auritech has concluded that nearly 30% of riders risk damage as they never wear earplugs, in many cases citing a dislike of solid foam plugs, which indiscriminately block out all sounds.
Fitting for Auritech’s custom fit earplugs is by appointment only, and can be arranged via email at info@auritech.co.uk or by calling 01483 516434. Weekends appointments are also available. Custom fit earplugs cost £119 for a pair. They are available in a wide range of colours and come with a dedicated carry case and a free cord and clip if required.
In addition to the custom fit ear plugs, Auritech’s Universal Fit range is available over the counter. Universal Fit Auritech Biker plugs are available on the company’s website – www.auritech.co.uk and from retailers throughout the UK. They utilise the same patented ceramic filter as the Custom Fit plugs, in a tri-sectional reusable hypoallergenic plug designed to offer high levels of comfort and sound attenuation in ears of all shapes and sizes.
Auritech Biker Universal Fit were last year awarded the prestigious RiDE Best Buy award and are priced £19.95.
For more information on the full range of Auritech products, including hearing protection for activities including shooting, work, travel and music, visit www.auritech.co.uk

The fast-charge battery recharges 30% faster than its predecessors. A full charge of the unit happens in just an hour so your 50 series is ready to go in as little as 20 minutes for up to three hours of Mesh communication or five hours of Bluetooth intercom.
Voice activation
The 50 series lets you keep your concentration firmly on the road without lifting a finger. Functions can be selected by voice commands, including entering Open Mesh or answering phone calls. The 50 series supports multi-language voice commands, responding to English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. However the most powerful upgrade is the new direct access to Google or Siri digital assistants through your smartphone.
Brand New App
Alongside the updates to the units, Sena have also created a new mobile app to provide riders with an intuitive way to get the most out of their 50 series intercoms.
Two designs
There are two designs to choose from in the 50 series, offering different control options. The 50S has a tried-and-trusted jog dial design, while 50R has a sleek three-button layout . Both retail for £309- in a single pack and the dual pack sells for £549- (including VAT).

Before venturing out on the road for the first time after an enforced lay-up, there are five essential pre-ride checks to make, often referred to by the acronym POWER:
Petrol – check the gauge or the tank to make sure you have enough fuel for your journey
Oil – check the sight glass or dipstick to make sure the engine oil level is correct
Water – if your bike is water cooled, check the level in the reservoir or radiator
Electrics – make sure your battery is fully charged and the lights, indicators and horn are all working
Rubber – check your tyres are the correct pressure, tread depth is legal and there is no damage (from tears, punctures or perishing)
Most of these steps involve a simple, visual check, but making sure a battery is fully charged and working as it should is a little more complicated.
Fortunately OptiMate offer a range of monitors that make it easy to keep an eye on the condition of a bike’s 12v battery while it is parked for an extended time and chargers that will keep it in peak condition.
Unlike app-based monitors, OptiMate produces plug-and-play devices, designed to draw almost zero power from the bike’s battery. Charge level is indicated on an easy-to-read LED display panel, and when the motorcycle is started, the OptiMate monitor confirms whether the vehicle charging system is delivering the correct charge voltage. The O-125 monitor pictured sells at £19.99 inc VAT.
OptiMate’s battery chargers also feature easy-to-understand status indicators, and automatically monitor, charge and maintain batteries. They are fully automated – no input is required once connected – and the range covers most battery types found on motorcycles:
OptiMate1 Duo (RRP £39.99 inc VAT) is ideal for charging and maintaining batteries under four years-old, automatically recognising whether they are lead acid or Lithium Ion.
OptiMate3 Global (£59.99) is designed with a wide range input (100-240V, 50-60Hz) that works with mains electricity around the world. It diagnoses, charges, tests and maintains all types of 12V lead-acid batteriesand will even recover sulphated batteries with almost zero charge remaining.
OptiMate 4 (£72.99) features all the proven functions that earned OptiMate the recommendation of virtually every major motorcycle manufacturer, plus unique keyless connectivity for CanBUS-equipped bikes;
OptiMate Lithium 0.8A (£62.99) is specifically designed to safely monitor and maintain lithium batteries, and will reset the internal BMS (Battery Management System) so that charging can begin.

OptiMate, the original battery-saving charger, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019, and in that time, has saved millions of batteries from being thrown into landfill sites around the world.
Reducing waste plays an important part in the drive to protect the environment and, looking ahead to the next quarter century, the team at OptiMate warn that the move to lithium starter batteries for motorcycles creates fresh challenges.
Light, compact and powerful, Lithium Ion (Li-ion) batteries are increasingly being fitted as standard to premium motorcycles, such as Honda’s popular Africa Twin. Many riders are also choosing to upgrade old lead acid starter batteries with more modern lithium (LFP) versions.
Although lithium batteries offer significant advantages to lead acid designs, they are also more easily damaged; discharging (running flat), over-charging, short-circuiting and jump-starting can easily ‘kill’ an LFP battery,
This situation is made worse by the fact that LFP batteries have a smaller capacity than traditional lead-acid models and are likely to run out of charge faster.
Although motorcycle batteries are described as 12 volt, in fact lead acid batteries can accept a higher charge than LFP, so a regular ‘12V charger’ could easily over-charge an LFP battery and destroy it. While it is important to use a charger/maintainer when your motorcycle is not in use, to prevent the battery from going flat, it is essential to use a charger specifically designed for lithium batteries, to avoid over-charging.
Fortunately, OptiMate have thought of this, and offer a range of lithium chargers, including a fast 5A charger for motorsport use, a regular 0.8A version for home use and now an entry-level model, the Duo, which automatically detects whether a battery is lead acid or lithium and charges it accordingly.
BikeTrac has today confirmed its partnership with global security services provider, Securitas, in a bid to offer customers even greater chances of recovery when Police resources are stretched.
Despite BikeTrac offering one of the best recovery rates in the business – an impressive 94% in the last 10 years, Police resources are more stretched now than ever, with serious crime pushing forces up and down the country to the limit. Securitas, with its national network of mobile security officers, aims to galvanise BikeTrac’s proven success rate.
BikeTrac Sales and Marketing Director, Bill Taylor, explained, “We are extremely proud of our recovery rate, which is very much down to the great support we have had and still have from police forces across the UK. While the support is still generally very good, there are occasions where we cannot get an officer on scene as quickly as we’d like, which is where Securitas will step in.
“Thanks to their expertise and national network, should such a situation arise now, we will be able to despatch a CRB checked Securitas Protective Services Officer to the scene, to quickly confirm the stolen bike’s location and secure it pending arrival of police or the owner.”
On top of this additional service, which will be free to existing customers, BikeTrac’s partnership with SOS Motorcycle Recovery means a discounted rate is also available for collection from the scene too if required.
Securitas spokesperson, Richard Field, Sales Director, Mobile added “In Securitas we make a promise to our clients to keep their people, property and assets safe. Our promise, when combined with our core values of integrity, vigilance and helpfulness, help us create a safer society for everyone.
“Bike Trac share the same values as Securitas, and we’re proud to be working in partnership to help protect their client’s most valuable assets.”
BikeTrac customers benefit immediately from this new service by Securitas – another reason to choose the longest established dedicated motorcycle tracking device on the market.
BikeTrac, the leading and longest established dedicated motorcycle tracking company has announced a new 0% finance offer as part of its 10 year birthday celebrations.
Launched in 2009 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts working in automotive technology, BikeTrac was the first truly dedicated tracking system for motorcycles, with its feature-rich technology proven still ten years on thanks to a recovery rate still above 90%.
Celebrating this important milestone, the Silverstone-based company has announced a unique 0% finance offer, making it now even easier for riders to protect their machines with what has become renowned as one of the most effective security solutions available.
BikeTrac’s Bill Taylor commented, “When we launched in 2009, tracking technology was seen as somewhat of a luxury and more of a gadget. Ten years on and we are extremely pleased to see such wide adoption of the technology thanks to the great products on the market not only from ourselves, but our competitors too. The statistics speak for themselves, with BikeTrac responsible for recovering over 1000 machines with a value of over £9m.
“While general adoption of tracking is far greater now, the price point of the technology can still be considered as a barrier, and so we are absolutely delighted to be able to offer a 0% finance offer via participating dealers, making it the easiest it’s ever been to protect your pride and joy”.
Being rolled out across BikeTrac’s dealer network, customers will be able to spread the cost of the unit, fitment and subscription over the 0% finance offer, for 12 months. Monthly payments can be as little as £39.
Officially rolling-out across participating BikeTrac dealers this month, customers can find their nearest dealer by visiting the dealer finder area at www.biketrac.co.uk, while also able to select from the authorised list of mobile installers too.
