R&G Expands Aero Crash Protector Range

The iconic R&G Aero Crash Protectors have protected thousands of motorcycles worldwide, and the Hampshire-based brand is pleased to announce it is expanding the range further with the addition of applications for the 2024 KTM 1390 Super Duke R (EVO) and 125 Duke and the 2024 Kawasaki ZX-6R.

Unlike other products on the market, the stylish R&G Aero Crash Protectors are created using high-tensile steel bolts, which are designed to bend rather than shear or snap. This absorbs the impact and provides even greater protection in the event of a drop or fall. Brake Line Upgrade for KTM Duke 125

UK-made, Venhill braided brake hose kits for KTM’s lightweight Duke 

Venhill’s new KTM Duke 125 Front and Rear Brake Hose Kits are a quick and easy way to boost stopping power, as well as improving feel and feedback.

Venhill hoses are precision made in their UK factory around a DuPont® Teflon® core. Highly heat-resistant, it won’t soften, expand or lose shape when it gets hot. Combined with a smooth, consistent bore it delivers more efficient fluid flow to the callipers, increasing braking force and feel at the lever and pedal.

Stainless steel braid is wrapped around the core, to stop further pressure expansion during hard braking. For a long life and lasting finish, a waterproof PVC jacket is then bonded on to the braid.

Simple to fit, the kits are tailor-made for the Duke and feature corrosion-free, stainless steel swivel socket nuts at both ends. These make them much easier to position than hoses with the fittings crimped onto the end.

For complete peace of mind, every set that leaves the factory is pressure tested to 1500psi.

Front and rear kits are available for all 2013-2023 Duke 125s. They come in a choice of 11 colours – including orange, to match up with KTM’s signature shade. The kits will also fit the 200cc and 390cc versions of the Duke.

Pizza Pilgrims use custom sidecar for second expedition

Vespa-powered sidecar outfit built in Britain by Watsonian for James and Thom Elliot, founders of Pizza Pilgrims

Following their first pizza pilgrimage in a three-wheel Piaggio Ape van in 2011, restaurateurs Thom and James Elliot decided to embark on a new adventure last year, to celebrate the 10th birthday of their first UK pizzeria.

The brothers visited Watsonian Sidecars and asked them to build an outfit that could carry a passenger, but also convert into a working pizza kitchen when parked.

“Since the company was founded in 1912 we’ve built thousands of tradesmen’s outfits for all sorts of jobs, including ice cream sellers, milkmen and even firemen” says Watsonian Managing Director Ben Matthews. “A tiny pizzeria is definitely a first and something totally unexpected.”

An Italian Vespa GTS300 scooter – already a popular choice with sidecar customers – was selected to provide the power. The development team at Watsonian started by attaching their Platform Chassis, then fitted the Grand Prix sidecar bodyshell, which is similar to the design supplied for filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Next, they set to work adapting the sidecar body to fulfil the brief; a tubular steel rack was engineered, to sit behind the scooter and carry a Gozney restaurant-grade portable pizza oven. To transport ingredients, a specially designed box was CNC-machined from HDPE thermoplastic and precision fitted over the sidecar boot.

Solid oak worktops were then fitted on top of the box. These fold out over the passenger cockpit, providing plenty of workspace when cooking.

Finally, bespoke carriers for the pizza peel and cutter were bolted onto the sidecar.

First of Pyramid’s practical add-ons for the new BMW R1300 GS

British motorcycle accessory specialist Pyramid now offers two of their trademark accessories for the new BMW R1300GS – a front mudguard Extenda Fenda and rear-end Spray Cover. Both filling gaps where the bike’s standard equipment is lacking.

Extenda Fenda
A must-have for any GS owner, Pyramid’s popular Extenda Fenda offers much-needed protection for the exposed painted surface of the front engine casing, exhaust downpipes and oxygen sensors.

Styled to look as much like an OE part as possible, it’s hardly noticeable on the bike yet adds 140mm of length to the front mudguard. The extra surface area stops water, tar, mud, stones and other debris being thrown up at the bike by the front tyre.

Made from durable ABS it can withstand a lot of abuse, and it’s super quick and easy to mount. Owners have two options: plastic rivets for mechanical fitment or a sheet of specially sourced ‘Stick Fit Pads’ for those who would prefer not to drill their front mudguard.

Splash Plate
Another simple addition that makes a significant difference, Pyramid Splash Plates reduce the amount of grit and grime thrown up by the back wheel.

Manufactured from aluminium and powder coated in a textured matte black finish, the Splash Plate creates an extension below & beside the number plate.

Designed specifically for the BMW R1300GS, it fits neatly beneath the number plate, without any modification to the bike, and comes with fittings and instructions.

Akrapovic Launches All-New Exhaust for BMW’s Latest GS

Akrapovič’s latest addition to its range of exhausts for BMW Motorrad motorcycles is a completely new system for the all-new BMW R 1300 GS.

This new Slip-On Line (Titanium) exhaust has been developed exclusively for the BMW R 1300 GS and encompasses the extensive understanding that Akrapovič has acquired from years of experience working with the BMW GS range and its boxer engines. This knowledge dates back to the first exhaust system that was developed for the 1999 BMW R 1150 GS, and it has been built upon through the subsequent editions of this iconic BMW series since then.

The double-flow muffler is constructed from lightweight titanium with a handmade carbon-fibre end cap, resulting in a weight saving of 9.3% over the standard stock version. It has been created for improved performance and enhanced sound silencing, which mitigates the impact on the environment while delivering a deep, full sound. An all-new special profiled surface on the muffler adds strength and durability, and an engraved Akrapovič logo creates a quality finish that is pleasing on the eye. This Akrapovič exhaust system will also be available in a black version as an alternative to the titanium finish, giving customers a choice for their motorcycle.

Performance is an important attribute of the Slip-On Line (Titanium), with power and torque increases of 1.4 kW (1.9 hp) at 7,600 rpm and 4.5 Nm at 2,300 rpm, respectively. These figures were obtained in back-to-back runs on the Akrapovič dyno against a BMW R 1300 GS using a standard stock exhaust. With EC/ECE type approval, the exhaust is a simple plug-and-play installation with no remapping required. Once installed, the system is fully compatible with BMW Motorrad’s side cases.

New XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders

The choice of numerous championship-winning race teams, renowned for their incredible ability to absorb the energy from high speed crashes saving damage to the chassis, GBRacing has redesigned and re-imagined the Bullet Slider for the street bike rider.

The new XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders offer the same incredible impact absorption technology with a larger puck for the ultimate in street bike chassis protection.

The XL also uses a reinforced version of the intelligently engineered mounting bush pioneered by the original Bullet Slider that effectively concertinas to absorb the energy of a direct impact.

This bush is also designed with a ‘sacrificial’ weak point. This means should the bike slide into a kerb, it will snap, preventing the slider from digging in, causing the bike to flip and subsequently sustain more damage.

This design also overcomes the age-old, traditional ‘crash bung’ problem of a long bolt bending in a frame at best, tearing threads out or even damaging engine mounts at worst. By using a short bolt that sits close to the bolt socket (5mm) the chance of the bolt bending and causing more (totally avoidable) damage is all but eliminated.

These larger, XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders are ideal for road riders looking for a more substantial looking crash puck to protect against accidental drops and road-speed spills.

For racing and track applications, the original Bullet Frame Sliders remain the recommended option, with proven performance at the very highest level of production racing.

Akrapovič and Ducati to Extend Partnership with New Off-Road Collaboration

Akrapovič and Ducati already enjoy a successful relationship in the commercial and racing worlds. Now this alliance is expanding to off-road racing with the announcement that the Slovenian company will supply the official exhaust of the Ducati Corse Off-Road team.

Akrapovič has a strong bond with Ducati Corse, and this partnership witnessed Ducati riders Francesco Bagnaia (MotoGP™), Álvaro Bautista (WorldSBK), and Nicolò Bulega (WorldSSP) win 2023 world championship titles while using Akrapovič exhausts. As part of preparations to defend those titles this season, the official presentation of the 2024 Ducati Lenovo Team and the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team was held at the Campioni in Pista 2024 event in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. It was during this prestigious launch that the Ducati Corse Off-Road team also unveiled its plans for the forthcoming season, including that the team will be using Akrapovič exhaust systems.

The Ducati Corse Off-Road programme has been working intensively on the 450 prototype, with nine-time MX World Champion Antonio Cairoli recently joining the team as a high-performance test rider to apply his talent, speed, and experience to provide important feedback and direction for the development of the new motorcycle. The bike will be equipped with an all-new Akrapovič exhaust and will make its debut in the 2024 Italian Motocross Championship. Alessandro Lupino, eight-time Italian Champion and 2021 MXoN winner, will be onboard to validate the technical solutions and development of the bike within the demands of a racing environment.

The new off-road division of Ducati Corse will deal with the management and organization of the Bologna-based manufacturer’s sporting programme, which will see participation in the MXGP World Championship and the AMA Supercross Championship in the next few years. With an emphasis on high-performance, lightness, and components that can be pushed to the extreme, with an engine supplying a broad power delivery curve, the Ducati Desmo450 MX prototype will use an Akrapovič exhaust system specially designed for the bike that fits these criteria. The use of lightweight titanium and a durable design will ensure the system meets the harsh demands of off-road racing. This bespoke exhaust has been developed with close cooperation between Ducati Corse and Akrapovič engineers to optimize the character of the Ducati’s unique powerplant, while at the same time ensuring the exhaust is compliant with FIM noise regulations.

Akrapovič has taken its wealth of knowledge and experience from racing since its inception in 1991 – which has seen the company celebrate 175 world champions in road and off-road racing – into this programme, and it has utilized its extensive know-how and state-of-the-art technology to produce a high-performance exhaust system for the Ducati Desmo450 MX prototype.

SW-Motech Tank Bags and Protection for BMW R 1300 GS

Tank Ring, Tank Bags and Engine Bars are first in range of accessories for the new 1300 GS

SW-Motech are quick off the block, with a range of practical accessories for the latest incarnation of BMW’s best-selling adventure sport bike.

Number one on the list for most riders is luggage capacity and the PRO Tank Ringmakes carrying handy items easy.

The proven system features a magnetic guide – developed by Fidlock – which steers the bag into position on the tank ring for uber-quick mounting. The locking mechanism then clicks firmly into place, for a fuss-free fit every time; it can even be done one-handed. Removing it, for refuelling and at stops, is just as simple.

The Tank Ring is fully compatible with all PRO Tank Bags, including the PRO GS Tank Bag. Designed specifically for adventure bikes like the BMW R 1300 GS, with its steeply sloped fuel tank, the GS Tank Bag has a sturdy EVA plastic base that maintains its shape even when packed full. The factory-fitted upper ring guide rail allows for the tank bag to slide backwards and forwards to suit the ergonomic needs of the rider and shape of the tank. Only the PRO tank bags offer this flexibility.

This stable tank bag offers a generous 20 litres of storage, making it the perfect companion for long journeys. Crafted with durable ballistic nylon, the PRO GS is built to withstand the elements. The laminated EVA top adds a distinctive shape and provides a secure platform for your smartphone or tablet holder, thanks to the integrated MOLLE system.

There are two external pockets, mesh compartments in the interior to keep things tidy, cable feed-through inlets on the front and rear and a rain cover for use in adverse conditions.

SW-Motech’s engineers have also been quick off the mark with Upper and Lower Crash Bars for the new GS.

Made from heavy-duty steel tubing, they form a protective barrier around the fuel tank, fairing and the Boxer Twin’s vulnerable cylinder heads.

Each set is tailor made in SW-Motech’s European factory, and fixes to existing points on the bike – no drilling or additional brackets needed. They add minimal width, so they won’t affect handling or cornering.

The bars are powder coated to prevent corrosion and blend in with the Beemer’s styling. Surface finishing is carried out in SW-Motech’s own state-of-the-art facility in the Czech Republic, to guarantee quality and consistency.
