New FIM approved helmet from LS2

LS2’s full-carbon FF805 Thunder is now available with FIM approval for racing at the highest level. It is currently being worn by riders such as John McPhee in Moto3 and Michael Rinaldi in WorldSBK, as well as Jack Kennedy (pictured) and many others in all classes of the BSB Championship.

Road and track
LS2 now offers riders two versions of the Thunder – one with full FIM certification for international racing, and a regular option, made to a similar specification, for road use. Both are ECE 22.05 approved and carry the ACU gold sticker for UK-based track events.

FIM homologation is obtained when specific high performance and quality standards are met by the manufacturer. The Thunder’s 100% carbon fibre shell offers high penetration resistance and energy dispersion, yet weighs just 1400 grams. The outer shell comes in three sizes, for a safe and snug fit across each fitment range. Should the worst happen, an Emergency Release System allows first responders to remove the cheek pads without disturbing the head and neck.

Optimised vision
The wide 3D optically-correct visor features an ingenious quick release system, designed to help it stay intact during a crash. It’s also ready to accept tear-offs, and comes with a Pinlock Anti-Fog System as standard.

Cool and comfortable
Ventilation ports at the chin, forehead and crown, internal channeling through the EPS liner and large exhaust ports at the rear, offer superior venting – keeping the wearer cool and comfortable when the temperature rises. The internal comfort liner is breathable and hypoallergenic, as well as being removable and washable, for year-round freshness.

Fully equipped
LS2 include plenty of useful accessories with the Thunder, supplying a helmet bag, helmet holdall, Pinlock, pack of tear-offs and helmet-support cushion with each one.

Prices for the LS2 FF805 Thunder start from just £379.99 for the solid carbon option; three eye-catching graphic designs sell for £419.99.

The Thunder FIM is produced in solid carbon for £499.99 and comes with a race pack that includes a dark visor, as well as other exclusive accessories.

Tackle all terrains with LS2 gloves

New from LS2, All Terrain Gloves are lightweight, breathable and comfortable for long days on tarmac and trails, with the reassurance of CE-approval.

All Terrain gloves feature goat skin in their construction, because it’s tough and durable, as well as soft and supple, for maximum feedback and feel from the controls. It’s also double layered at the palm and other key areas.

Level 1-certified TPU protectors feature over the knuckles, and there are padded sections at the base of the hand and over the vulnerable scaphoid area too.

Comfort is key for long days in the saddle, so the All Terrain boast lightweight, flexible textile, neoprene and Lycra in their outer shell; offering dexterity and high breathability. The goat skin sections are also perforated to help heat and perspiration escape.

Stretch panels at the finger joints – and comfort Lycra sections between each finger – maximise movement and feel, as well as aiding precise operation of the throttle, clutch and front brake: crucial when tackling loose surfaces.

A silicone print on the palm increases grip on the bars – also handy when the going gets rough.

The short cuff design sits easily under riding jackets, and has micro adjustable hook and loop closure for a snug and secure fit.

Index fingers are touchscreen compatible, so there’s no need to remove the gloves to operate devices.

LS2 All Terrain Gloves come in both men’s (S-2XL) and ladies’ (XS-L) versions, in four colourways: Black, Black/Blue, Grey/Red and Black/Hi-Vis Yellow.

LS2 Helmets for high-flying champions

LS2 Helmets are now officially supporting 2019 FMX champion, youngest ever FIM Freestyle Motocross World Champion, nine-time world record holder and Red Bull Athlete, Luc Ackermann.

The 22-year-old extreme sports athlete from Thuringia in Germany has worn LS2 helmets for many of his daring tricks and records, and from now will be officially backed by the brand.

Announcing the new partnership, LS2 Germany Sales Manager Rainer Hullmann said: “Luc has, after all, been relying on our helmets for several years now. That we are now also official partners, we are immensely pleased! Luc is a super guy and one of the best in his discipline. He’s a perfect fit for our brand!”

At the age of just 12 Ackermann set his first record, with the ‘youngest motorcycle backflip of all time’.

In March 2013, he was one of 18 FMX riders who simultaneously jumped a backflip at the Nitro Circus movie premiere in London and entered the Guinness Book of Records.

Another world record – ‘youngest motorcycle double backflip’ – came in 2017. This was followed in 2018 by the first double backflip in the FIM FMX World Championship Contest and saw Ackermann becoming the youngest FIM European Champion in the history of ‘Night of the Jumps’.

In 2019, he jumped the first dirt-to-dirt contest double backflip and became the youngest FIM Freestyle Motocross World Champion ever.

In 2020, Luc broke a 12-year-old world record set by FMX legend Travis Pastrana with 10 backflips in 30 seconds.

Ackermann currently wears the LS2 MX700 Subverter Evo. One of LS2’s most popular motocross helmets it’s perfect for the extreme riding Luc undertakes, because it is incredibly lightweight, thanks to the exclusive Kinetic Polymer Alloy shell. It also features multiple ventis and channeling around the head to allow plenty of airflow and comes with Emergency Release System cheek pads, enabling first responders to remove the Subverter Evo with minimal movement of a fallen rider’s head and neck.

Fully ECE 22.05 certified, it’s legal to wear on the road in the UK and carries the ACU Gold sticker for off-road sport.

LS2 Subverter Now With MIPS

Updated for 2020, LS2’s popular Subverter motocross helmet now comes with MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) technology.

The latest innovation in helmet safety, the MIPS Brain Protection System is designed to protect against rotational brain injury – caused by movement between the brain and skull when the head suffers an impact.

MIPS is a low friction layer that sits between the helmet’s EPS liner and fabric lining, allowing the head to move 10-15mm relative to the helmet in all directions. This redirects energies and forces otherwise transferred to the brain, reducing the risk of damage to brain tissue due to rotational motion.

Light, bright and cool, the Subverter is one of LS2’s most popular motocross helmets. The outer shell is made from LS2’s exclusive Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA), a super strong material rivalling high-end composites, which offers flexibility for energy absorption and high penetration resistance, yet remains lightweight at just 1300 grams.

ECE 22.05 certified, it’s legal to wear on the road and carries the ACU Gold sticker for off-road sport. It comes in three outer shell sizes for the smallest, lightest possible helmet in each fitment range.

Emergency Release System cheek pads enable first responders to remove the Subverter with minimal movement of a fallen rider’s head and neck.

Multiple venting and channelling around the head allow plenty of airflow, while the breathable, hypoallergenic lining is removable and washable, so it can be kept fresh and clean all-season.

The long peak is adjustable and a wide aperture offers plenty of all-round vision and can accommodate most styles of motocross goggles.

The Subverter comes in sizes XS-3XL, in a choice of two solid and 10 eye-catching graphic finishes, including exclusive ‘Chrome’ and ‘Max’ options. Solid colour versions retail at £149.99; graphic versions sell for £179.99; Chrome and Max options cost £199.99.

LS2 have enlisted Carl Fogarty to unveil their new Challenger helmet to the UK public at Motorcycle Live.

Developed by LS2’s design team in in Spain, working with supported riders from MOTOGP, MOTO2 and MOTO3, the Challenger is their most innovative helmet to date. Its HPFC shell is a carefully layered blend of fiberglass weave and organic resin that weights just 1385 grams (+/- 50 g).

Track-inspired features include a 3mm flat visor with tear-off mounts and emergency release system cheek pads. Road riders are catered for with a Pinlock anti-fog insert, advanced venting system, drop-down sun shield and quick release strap.

The hypoallergenic lining is removable and washable and the Challenger also features Emergency Release System cheek pads, which can be slipped out so the helmet can be taken off with minimum movement of the fallen rider’s head.

Adding to the excitement, LS2 have appointed Carl Fogarty MBE as brand ambassador, and have commissioned two Foggy replica helmets, which will be available in Spring 2019.

“LS2 have done a fantastic job in bringing two of my classic helmet designs into the modern era” says the 7-times World Champion.

“Next year marks the 20th anniversary of my last World Superbike title so we thought this would be the perfect time to recreate that winning helmet. And 2020 will be the 30th anniversary of my Formula One and Senior wins at the TT, wearing another iconic design. These are top of the range helmets which combine a winning performance and design.”

Available in sizes XXS-3XL, retail prices start at just £249.99 for solid colours; graphics cost £269.99 and the Foggy replicas will be £299.

A first edition of 50 of each of the Foggy Replicas will be available for sale at Motorcycle Live (17-25 November) complete with a signed number certificate. Visit LS2 Helmets on stand 4A26 for details.
