Exchange your full face helmet and receive £100 towards a new Ducati Arai helmet

Ducati UK has launched a new helmet replacement campaign from now until the end of December 2017.
A helmet is one of the most important pieces of safety equipment we wear, however, as time goes on helmets become loose and the effectiveness of the protection can be reduced.
Customers can bring an old full face helmet to selected Ducati dealers and trade it in (it does not need to be a Ducati branded helmet) for a new Ducati helmet by Arai and receive a £100 contribution towards the new one.

Valentino Rossi dedicates his AGV helmet to a Grand Sporting Champ!

,

IN WHAT HAS NOW BECOME A TRADITION, THE AGV PISTA GP R HELMET OF ROSSI FOR THE SATURDAY MORNING QUALIFYING SESSIONS FOR THE ITALIAN MOTORCYCLE GRAND PRIX HELD IN MUGELLO, SPORT SPECIAL CELEBRATORY DESIGNS. DESIGNER ALDO DRUDI TRANSFORMS THEIR HEARTFELT TRIBUTES TO THE LATE NICKY HAYDEN AND TO ITALY INTO ART.

Bright colours, the green turf of a football field, the blue eyes of the Champion of Tavullia who, in a brand new footballer version in a light blue jersey of the Italian national team bearing number 46, exclaims “Mo’ je faccio er cucchiaio” (the “cucchiaio” or “spoon” being a specific type of penalty kick), as he stands, ready in front of the goalkeeper to score a goal. This expression, spouted in an unmistakeable Roman dialect, reveals Rossi’s sporting dedication to Francesco Totti, the icon Italian football player who played the very last match of his fantastic career with the team A.S. Roma last week. With the Italian flag in the background, the tribute continues on the back of the helmet where, under the 58 of Marco Simoncelli, the phrase “One captain… There’s only one captain!” appears, another iconic quote taking directly from the chants dedicated to Totti by his Roman fans. A plaster drawn on the front is an attempt by The Doctor to poke fun at himself, a funny reminder of his misadventure during training a few days ago which put his participation in the Italian GP at risk.

On the sides of the chin strap, the number 46 is joined by 69, the number of the great Nicky Hayden forming a single, dual-tone 469. The AGV shield, which has accompanied Valentino for more than 20 years in each of his wins, is positioned on the side and completed by the words “Mugello 2017”.

A perfect combination of protection, performance and comfort, the Pista GP R is the result of AGV Extreme Standards, an innovative integrated design protocol that revolutionises the design process, allowing for a significant and demonstrable improvement in helmet performance in terms of its protection against impact, peripheral vision, compact design, reduced weight, aerodynamics, ventilation and ergonomics. The innovative AGV Extreme Standards process raises the bar in terms of technology in helmet research and development, and represents a milestone in head protection systems.

The replica helmet (in limited edition of 2500 pieces) will be available from December 2017 as a Pista GP R model, priced at £1100 SRP . Now available to order, refer to your local AGV dealer for more details.

The limited edition will bear the same graphics as Valentino’s helmet, with the exception of other sponsors’ logos and the visor components and accessories.

The Pista GP R, an evolution of the innovative Pista GP, the MotoGP helmet, is the most protective helmet ever to be developed. Thanks to the introduction of Race 3 Max Pinlock®, a Class 1 Optic visor with 100% Max Vision Pinlock® (120), and the patented Visor Lock System (VLS) fastening, the full carbon AGV Pista GP R helmet offers an unbeatable field of vision. The new wind-tunnel-tested “Biplano” spoiler, guarantees optimum aerodynamic performance, while comfort levels benefit from a patented interior structure and an Integrated Ventilation System IVS). Revealed Arai RX-7V IOM TT 2017 Ltd Edition Helmet

Without doubt the Isle of Man TT races are the most iconic road races ever and the matching world famous three-legged symbol (known as the ‘’Triskelion’’) is together with the TT lettering, easily the most recognizable ‘’logo’’ in the racing world. Arai is therefore rightfully proud, as preferred helmet supplier, to use the official TT logo as part of our exclusive IOMTT Limited Edition design.

For many years Arai and the Isle of Man TT races have been partners and also for 2017 Arai will be the official helmet supplier of the IOMTT event. Part of this agreement is the massive presence of Arai at the TT paddock. The ‘’Arai Village’’ has been a familiar and highly appreciated sight there, offering Arai presentations, helmet showrooms and (free) helmet and racing service. More information on the activities in the Arai Village will be informed later towards the event on our special website page dedicated to the RX-7V 2017 IoM TT Limited Edition.

Every year a new design is introduced, especially for the TT races. Every year the helmets are made on one production run, no backorders are possible making the IOMTT helmets truly limited editions.

Part of this tradition is also that the IOMTT Limited Edition helmets are designed by Italians best known designer Aldo Drudi. And again he has made the 2017 edition a beautiful piece of helmet art, integrating all the famous TT elements in an up to date new design. The Arai top of the range RX-7V helmet is used as base for the new IOMTT 2017 helmet.

The very first IOMTT 2017 helmets will be available in the Arai Village from the first TT practice day on 27 May 2017 at the Isle of Man paddock.

AGV Limited Edition – Mind the Sharks

Valentino Rossi arrived at his home track of Misano Adriatico leading the standings. During qualifying, the “Dottore” wore a special edition version of his AGV Pista GP helmet which featured a marine theme reminiscent of the Adriatic Riviera.

Aldo Drudi who has been designing Rossi’s helmets for many years commented: “Marine setting and cartoon style this time for Vale’s helmet. The little fish is Valentino, he’s not afraid but is doing his best to run away. (…) The idea is to show a Valentino who is fully committed but under a lot of pressure”. So, the expression of the face of the little fish Valentino isn’t one of fear or panic, just concentration and determination to get away.

“Mind the sharks!”: obviously refers to his situation at that time in the 2015 MotoGP Championship standings. In the cartoon, Valentino sees himself as the little yellow fish, complete with earring and determined look, being chased by “sharks” who symbolise his rivals and the pressure he’s under in the Championship, but more importantly, he also shows he has no intention of letting them catch him in front of “his” public.

A message on the left of the helmet says “via, via, via!” (go, go, go!) in case of approaching rivals, while the back of the helmet bears his classic battle number 46 and a big 58. The back also features his lucky pet dogs Cesare and Cecilia along with his cat Rossano who, for the occasion are also wearing masks and snorkels to tackle the swim in the Adriatic alongside the Dottore.

A Corsa replica model will be available from June and will cost £699 SRP . Orders are now being taken at your usual AGV retailer. This limited edition will reproduce the graphics on Valentino’s helmet except for other sponsor’s logos and visor components and accessories.

The Corsa originates from AGV Extreme Standards Helmets, an innovative process that revolutionises the helmet design method to measurably and demonstratively improve impact protection, compact design, field of vision, aerodynamics, lightweight, ventilation and ergonomics. AGV have set higher safety standards for their helmets. The AGV Extreme Standards method sets homologation protection standards that are even higher than the legally required ones and checks the results with virtual and laboratory tests.

*Please note that the MONSTER logos will not be on the final design of the helmet*

AGV K-5 Helmet Obtains Sharp Four Star Rating

The Safety Helmet Assessment Rating Programme (SHARP) recently awarded the 4-star rating to AGV K-5, the best-selling helmet from AGV’s 2015 collection. The programme certifies the safest helmets in the world, with only 361 models having earned the four-star rating thus far. This award follows last season AGV’s GT Veloce for its rating.

The SHARP programme was started in 2007 by the UK Department of Transport with the aim of providing all motorcyclists with an independent safety assessment of many of the helmets available on the market. Research carried out by this department indicates that the use of safe, SHARP-approved helmets could save 50 lives every year.

The AGV K-5 achieved this award thanks to the revolutionary AGV Extreme Standards design process. AGV design protocol, based on the “human engineering” concept, starts from the components that are in direct contact with the head and gradually progresses to the outer shell. As a result, the structural shapes imitate the area of contact, thus providing greater safety and smaller overall dimensions. AGV Extreme Standards helmets – including the K-5 – are designed using Finite Element Analysis (FEM) to set new benchmarks for safety, comfort and ergonomics.

The result of over 60 years of AGV expertise in the worlds of Sport and Racing, the K-5 features the best technological innovations, including the IVS ventilation system and the ability to accept the SHARE communication system.

The AGV K-5 is available in a single-color version at €319.95 and in a multicolour version at €359.95. For more detailed information, to see available graphics and to purchase a K-5 online, visit http://k-5.agv.com

We presented the helmet with our 2015 TT visor stickers, themed on the new red, white, blue and striking gold design. Sepang, a winter helmet for Rossi

Winter graphics with snowflakes, reindeer and snow clad trees for Rossi’s special helmet at the tests in Malaysia.

The first meeting of the season gets under way at Sepang for the Teams competing in MotoGP 2015. Valentino Rossi took the words “winter testing” to heart and, despite the fact that the weather was far from cold in Malaysia, he turned up at Sepang with a woolly winter hat complete with snowflakes, reindeer and snow clad trees). After keeping it on for a couple of happy snaps with other members of the team but possibly above all, to poke fun at the tropical weather conditions, Vale also “took” it on track in the form of special graphics on his AGV Pista GP helmet.
Valentino didn’t let his fans down either – the nine times World Champion chose a great new two-coloured design with his usual fluorescent yellow and blue colour scheme. His number 46 seems to have been embroidered onto both sides and stands out loud and clear.

A Corsa model replica will be available from July and will cost SRP £699.

This limited edition will faithfully reproduce the graphics on Valentino’s race helmet except for other sponsor’s logos and visor components and accessories.

The K-5 is most highly anticipated helmet of the 2015 AGV collection, and is now available

Made from carbon and glass fibres, that guarantees resistance and is extremely lightweight, the new AGV K-5 arrives on the market with clear intent of becoming the top helmet for sports and road use.

Its optimum fit with 3D linings and the fanatical attention to detail such as the small spoilers that integrate perfectly with the overall shape of the shell, it can help reduce turbulence and improve the Cx (coefficient of aerodynamic penetration) the slim, aerodynamic chin guard also ensures that the AGV K5 is highly stable even at high speed. These features contribute to make the AGV K-5 the best for comfort.

The K-5 belongs to the AGV EXTREME STANDARDS family. The structural components of the helmet were specifically designed to offer excellent performance standards while minimising dimensions and weight. The K-5 in MS size weighs 1390g (+/-50g). Also the bottom side profile was specifically designed to reduce potential damage to the collarbone in the event of a fall.

The K-5 was designed using the FEM (Finite Element Method), which allows impacts and helmet resistance to be simulated before the moulds are actually made. This sophisticated and costly method allows AGV to create a light, compact helmet with improved energy absorption properties. In this context, the K-5 provides safety margins that far exceed those set by ECE2205 standards.

The IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) features ducts that are hollowed into the shell for improved, more efficient air circulation inside the helmet. The K-5 features three front intakes, two side and one central (which is positioned strategically high so that the intake still flows air even if the sunvisor is in the “up” position), integrated in the shell profile, which provides a constant flow of fresh air inside the helmet. Rear extractors with a new ON/OFF system remove hot moist air. The design has been ‘wind tunnel tested’ to optimise ventilation.

The helmet also features two outer and four inner shell sizes. These inner EPS shells are made of foam from 4 different thicknesses to guarantee the rider a perfect fit. Each EPS inner shell has 4 different densities, to always guarantee the best safety and lightness combination. During the helmet design stage, vision is now significantly wider than on a traditional helmet thanks to the special shape of the bottom side edge of the aperture.

The helmet can fit two different visors depending on shell size to ensure a perfect seal with the shell.

The K-5 also has a new “easy-op” micro-opening system; you can open the visor in small amounts by using a button on the chin guard. This locks the visor in a slight open position for better ventilation. The compact visor opening and closing mechanism has the XQRS system, for quick visor removal without using tools.

The K-5 comes with an internal smoked anti-scratch sun visor that can be removed without tools for cleaning or replacement, plus removable and washable Dri-Lex® liners have been specially treated to prevent bacteria from forming.

The new AGV K-5 has a “Double-D” retention system and is “SHARE SYSTEM READY*” for the AGV communication system that allows the rider and passenger to talk as well as use a mobile phone or Sat Nav via Bluetooth®.

The Share system also helps decrease the emission of electromagnetic waves.

The RRP for the AGV K-5 is €339 for the Multi version and €299 for the Mono version

The AGV K-5 is also available through D-Store online at the following link:

NEW AGV Corsa Misano – Available for pre order

MISANO GIVE US A HAND VALENTINO’S SPECIAL HELMET FOR THE RECORD NUMBER OF HOME GP’s

During FP3 of the TIM Italy San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix, Valentino Rossi wore a special helmet with highly coloured personalised graphics as he always does for his home race.

Just a few miles from Tavullia, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli has a special place in Valentino’s heart both for the reception he gets from his fans plus the fact that he knows every bump and bend on the track where he first started racing.

Valentino has always had a very strong connection with his home and so decided to include some distinctive images of his affection in the graphics on his helmet.

On the chin guard of his carbon fibre PistaGP are the words taken from a famous Italian advertising jingle that went on to become a motto: “Misano, ci dà una mano”.
Misano gives us a hand’ The yellow number 46 and AGV logo sit above the nape of the neck. These two symbols have accompanied Valentino throughout his incredible career. The number 58 is a posthumous dedication to his great friend Marco Simoncelli.

The sky blue background enhances the other brilliant, fluorescent colours. The colours are exhilarating on this helmet and almost resemble a children’s game. This only goes to show that despite now being 35, the “Dottore” can still play. The hand prints on the helmet belong to the skilful hands of the Team Movistar Yamaha MotoGP mechanics who are, as ever, ready to help Vale in this his home race with their experience and expertise . The “usual suspects” are still there: the paw prints of Valentino’s dogs, Cesare and Cecilia and those of his cat Rossano. There are also lipstick kisses from the women in his life – his Mum Stefania and his girlfriend Linda. The fingerprint on the helmet is of his friend and designer Aldo Drudi, who is his constant companion in these creative adventures.

Following his podium finish at Misano, Valentino said: “Different hands touch my bike every day, hands that work with me, the hands of engineers or of Galbusera; but there are also other hands like those of my mother and my girlfriend, and these spur me on just as much”. A home Grand Prix is always important for a rider where he has the opportunity to shine in front of his own fans and this “helping hand” can often make a huge difference. In this race, he got that hand and there was no doubt about it. A limited edition Corsa replica will be available from February with an SRP of £799.99.

One of the Safest Helmets in World

The AGV Pista GP has been awarded with a 5 Star SHARP rating and is confirmed to be one of the safest helmets in the world.

On August 29th the AGV Pista GP helmet was awarded by the influential UK certification board SHARP (Safety Helmet and Assessment Rating Programme) a 5 star rating.

Being part of the larger AGV “Extreme Standards Helmets” family, the Pista GP is now listed among the 331 safest helmets in the world.

The 5 SHARP Stars are defined by the United Kingdom Department of Transport, and are the highest mark achievable in terms of safety. SHARP assigns this important rating by means of an independent evaluation system, where helmets are subjected to safety criteria tests without involving the manufacturers.

In fact, the UK Department of Transport has confirmed that using helmets that received a 5 star rating could save 50 lives per year.

The AGV Pista GP obtained this important award thanks to the revolutionary “Extreme Standards Helmets” process, an innovative design system that defines new standards in terms of safety, ergonomics and comfort. Indeed, the Pista GP design process starts from the components that are directly in contact with the head and works outwards to the final carbon fibre shell.

AGV K3 SV Rossi Replicas – Available Now

AGV are pleased to announce the launch of the brand new AGV K3-SV Rossi pack.

Available exclusively in the UK are the new Rossi Winter Test 2012 blue (this graphic up until now has not been available on any other production helmet) and the Gothic 46 black, possibly the most recognisable of all of Rossi’s helmets.

The K-3 SV was developed with the experience gained during the design process of the Pista GP, Corsa and GT Veloce. Thanks to the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEM), the technical department developed a benchmark product in terms of comfort, aerodynamics and safety. The K3-SV has a wide appeal and is suitable for all riders looking for comfort and high performance characteristics.

Thanks to Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis and wind tunnel testing, the integrated ventilation system provides maximum airflow to the head (through three front vents, chin vent, and two extractors at the back of the helmet), and the
aerodynamics minimize drag, lift and noise, and ensure stability even at racetrack speeds. Two shell sizes and four EPS sizes give the K3-SV a generic fit that is both plush and incredibly comfortable (plus AGV’s unique solution of offering both specific MS and ML sizes).

The new AGV communication system AGV SHARE has been designed to fit directly into the K3-SV and is available at an SRP of £129.99.
