Ducati and Shell renew their global technical partnership

Ducati and Shell renew their global technical partnershipDucati and Shell renew their global technical partnership with a development focus on high-performance engine lubricants.

Ducati and Shell Lubricants announce the renewal of their global technical partnership for another 3 years and will continue to collaborate in the design of lubricants for high-performance engines, with the aim of enhancing the performance of Ducati motorcycles and giving emotions to Ducatisti. Shell will also maintain its role as supplier of engine oils for the first refuelling of all motorcycles produced in the Ducati factories in Bologna (Italy) and Rayong (Thailand) and for the Ducati dealer network in Italy, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Benelux , Spain, Portugal, United States, Canada, China, Japan and Australia.

As part of the partnership agreement, Shell will supply the Ducati dealer network with Shell Advance Ducati engine oil and Ducati Corse Performance Oil powered by Shell Advance. The latter, launched in 2023, is a perfect example of the success of this collaboration. Born from the experience acquired in racing competition, Ducati Corse Performance Oil Powered by Shell Advance can be used on the Desmosedici Stradale and Desmosedici Stradale R engines of the Panigale V4, Streetfighter V4 and Multistrada RS, which adopt a dry clutch as original equipment or as a Ducati Performance accessory. This lubricant can be used starting from the first oil change, offering gains of up to 3.5 horsepower at maximum power.

Francesco Milicia, VP Sales and After Sales Ducati Motor Holding: Our Company firmly believes in the transfer of knowledge and technologies from the world of racing competition to production motorcycles. The partnership with Shell, which has been successfully at our side for more than 20 years, also follows this approach. The renewal of the agreement allows us to continue working together on increasingly high-performance products, with the aim of enhancing the performance of our motorcycles, as recently happened with the Ducati Corse Performance Oil Powered by Shell Advance.

Aysun Akik, Vice President New Business Development and Global Key Accounts at Shell Lubricants: “The extension of our collaboration is testament to the strength of our 25-year relationship with Ducati, and will see us continuing to take the learnings and innovations from the racetrack to deliver better road-going products for the benefit of Ducati and Shell customers around the world.

Ducati and Shell began their collaboration in 1999, with Shell alongside Ducati Corse in the Superbike World Championship, before extending it four years later into the MotoGP World Championship. The technical partnership is one of the most recognizable and successful in motorsport. All the bikes used by the Ducati Team in MotoGP and by the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team in Superbike use special Shell Advance formulations.

Suzuki offers 4.9% finance and £0 deposit across the range

Suzuki has announced an attractive low-rate finance offer across a huge selection of models from its sport, street, and adventure bike classes, with no fewer than 18 models available with 4.9% APR finance over three years, with no deposit required. Running until 30 June 2024, customers can also choose between PCP or HP.

Available with the new low rate of finance are the newly-launched GSX-S1000GX and the pannier-equipped GSX-S1000GX+, and the new-for-2024 GSX-8R, V-Strom 800RE, and V-Strom 800RE Tour, all of which use Suzuki’s new 776cc parallel twin engine.

Also included is the iconic flagship hyperbike, the Hayabusa, along with the 25th anniversary special edition model, as well as the GSX-S1000GT and GSX-S1000GT+, which match superbike performance with all-day comfort. Street bike customers can choose from four models: the Katana, GSX-S1000, GSX-S950, and the award-winning GSX-8S.

Alongside the V-Strom 800RE – and the Tour variant – from the adventure bike stable, customers can also choose from the V-Strom 800DE and V-Strom 800DE Tour, the latter equipped with full aluminium luggage as standard, plus the V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050 Tour, as well as the V-Strom 1050DE and V-Strom 1050DE Tour.

Suzuki GB’s head of motorcycles, Jonthan Martin, commented, “We’re still operating in a world of higher interest rates, so we’re really pleased to be able to offer a fabulous rate of finance across most of our product range. It helps keep those monthly repayments down for our customers and, allied to the fact that there’s no need to find a lump sum for a deposit, it makes owning a new Suzuki – including brand new tech-laden models like the GX or the 25th anniversary Hayabusa, or bikes built on our new, award-winning 800 platform like the GSX-8R and GSX-8S – even more affordable this spring.”

Reservations now open for DRE Adventure 2024

Reservations now open for DRE Adventure 2024: a fascinating new location in Umbria will host the four events of the season.

After seven years of success, the DRE Adventure format returns in 2024 with four events included in the Ducati Riding Academy calendar. The DRE Adventure is a course dedicated to adventouring enthusiasts who wish to refine the secrets of on and offroad riding, experimenting with the qualities of Ducati motorbikes in charming Italian scenarios and combining instruction with a complete immersion in the Italian reality of culture, art, territory and relaxation.

For 2024 all DRE Adventure events will have as their base a new location situated among the wonderful scenery of the Umbrian hills, the Park Hotel ai Cappuccini. The structure, a former 17th century convent located in the centre of Gubbio (Perugia, Italy), offers also the opportunity to spend some days relaxing together and to explore the area and its traditions.

The course takes place on Multistrada V4 S, Multistrada V4 Rally and DesertX bikes, to which is added the new DesertX Rally already the protagonist of the third episode of the Ducati World Première 2024.

The new DesertX Rally is the ideal Ducati bike for those who love rallies or the world of Adventouring and know how to appreciate the benefits of professional components, capable of enhancing the skills of both novice and expert riders. The DesertX Rally pushes the spectrum of Borgo Panigale’s proposals towards offroad, completing the range of Ducati adventure twin-cylinder motorbikes, which is already strong with the Multistrada V2 and the DesertX. The latter is designed for those looking for the best balance between Ducati road performance and the ability to tackle any terrain.

The DRE Adventure format is characterised by an extensive program which sees  moments of riding instruction combined with a charming tour surrounded by greenery where it is possible to appreciate the dynamic characteristics of Ducati motorcycles on different terrains. Thanks to a pool of top-level instructors, the course provides motorcyclists with the opportunity to discover the secrets of the Adventouring world: from the correct riding position, to learning the most effective offroad riding techniques, up to technical advice and logistics in preparation for the trip and the management of unforeseen events that may arise during the journey. Furthermore, thanks to the extensive customisation possibilities for the saddle and suspension, with different raised and lowered solutions, each of the motorbikes used in the DRE Adventure courses can adapt to the characteristics of each participant.

The DRE Adventure program is divided into two days. The first day takes place at Villa Benveduti, an elegant eighteenth-century villa surrounded by the greenery of the Gubbio countryside, and is dedicated to getting to know the motorbike and carrying out technical exercises to gain the right confidence in offroad riding in the school camps set up for the purpose. The second day includes a tour with both on-road and offroad sections, which immediately puts motorcyclists in a position to put into practice what they learned in the school camps and continue to learn further riding techniques.

There are four appointments for 2024: the first two in June (11-12 and 13-14 June) followed by another two in October (30 September – 1 October and 2-3 October).

The team of excellent instructors has always been one of the strong points of the DRE formats. The DRE Adventure is in fact part of the Ducati Riding Academy programme, an activity which has reached an unparalleled complete offering in the two-wheel panorama, and which in twenty years of activity has trained and involved over 30,000 enthusiasts. Also in the case of the DRE Adventure the team, led by Matteo Graziani (professional rider, winner of 59 Italian Motorally championships and protagonist of around 30 international rallies), is made up of experienced riders especially in the Adventure sector.

For more information on the riding courses, the program and registration, you can visit the DRE Academy section of the Ducati.com website or contact DRE Customer Support: dre@ducati.com.

V-Strom 800RE Tour joins Suzuki lineup

Suzuki has added a V-Strom 800RE Tour to its lineup, which comes with 112 litres of aluminium luggage and a saving of £706.94.

Buyers can choose from either silver or black three-piece luggage, comprising a top box and panniers, and with an OTR price of £11,199, customers will save £706.94 over equipping the standard V-Strom 800RE with the individual accessories.

Available in blue, matt steel green, or black, the V-Strom 800RE Tour expands Suzuki’s V-Strom 800 range to four models, all of which use the firm’s new 776cc parallel twin engine with its 270-degree crankshaft design, delivering an abundance of smooth low-down drive and midrange thrust.

The 800RE models come with 19” and 17” cast aluminium wheels and Nissin radial calipers. Aluminium, rubber-covered foot pegs are set 14mm further rearward and 7mm higher than the V-Strom 800DE, and aluminium tapered handlebars are 13mm lower and 23mm further forwards. They’re also 15mm narrower. Like the DE, suspension comes courtesy of Showa, but with a focus on superior on-road performance there is 150mm of travel front and rear.

A bi-directional quickshifter comes as standard, and there are three selectable power modes and three choices of traction control settings, which can also be switched off. All the information is displayed via a colour TFT dash, nestled behind a large, wind-cheating screen.

Triumph Unveils Trident 660 Special Edition

Triumph Motorcycles has launched a striking new special edition Trident 660, featuring a dynamic, contemporary graphic scheme designed to appeal to new Triumph fans, and extra technology including Triumph Shift-Assist.

New for 2024, the Trident Triple Tribute celebrates Triumph’s legendary triple engines and will be available for one year only. This hugely popular naked roadster is now available with a distinctive graphic scheme, which is a contemporary take on Triumph’s iconic ‘white, blue and red’ racing scheme and features the distinctive ‘67’ number graphic, which once adorned the most famous Trident in history, ‘Slippery Sam’.

The Trident’s characterful and unique triple engine performance and celebrated handling will be even more enjoyable with the addition of Triumph Shift Assist adding to an already impressive specification and list of equipment for its class. Included as standard, the colour matched fly screen and belly pan add even more unique character to the Trident’s distinctive style, showcasing the exceptional standard of fit and finish that is synonymous with Triumph.

Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer, Triumph Motorcycles said: “Since its launch in 2020, this middle-weight roadster has reinvigorated this highly competitive category, selling more than 35,600 units worldwide.

“It’s triple engine and premium detailing at a great price, has been successful in bringing younger and new riders to Triumph, and just as ‘Slippery Sam’ once inspired a generation, we believe this special edition has the iconic style, extra technology and dynamic performance to appeal to today’s Triumph fans.”

UNIQUE TRIPLE TRIBUTE EDITION DESIGN SCHEME

The Trident Triple Tribute has a stunning, modern design, inspired by the most celebrated Triumph triple bike of all time, ‘Slippery Sam’, which is the only motorcycle ever to win five TT production races in five consecutive years, from 1971 to 1975. The white, blue and red scheme with colour-matched fly screen and belly pan, stands out from the clean, minimal lines, beautiful silhouette and confident poise of the Trident. `

The distinctive tank design with number 67 race graphic surrounds the signature knee cut-outs, complementing the flowing seat line. With an impeccable attention to detail, the Trident 660 features high quality Triumph badges in both the headlight and taillight, and logo touches on the fuel filler cap, handlebar clamp and instruments, plus an inset aluminium Trident badge with diamond machined detailing. Body coloured radiator cowls, aluminium yokes & heel guards, body coloured fork protectors, tapered aluminium handlebars and teardrop shape mirrors, with five-spoke, black, lightweight, cast aluminium wheels, complete the eye-catching look.

TRIPLE ENGINE PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGE

Featuring a dedicated Trident tune, the popular 660cc triple engine was developed to deliver the character and performance benefits of a triple to riders in the middleweight sports naked category, providing the perfect balance of low-down torque, mid-range and top end power. A distinctive deep triple soundtrack is provided via a compact and minimal single sided silencer, with a premium stainless-steel finisher.

Fully Euro 5 compliant, the engine gives 81 PS peak power @ 10,250 rpm with a progressive, smooth and linear delivery, as well as 64 Nm peak torque @ 6,250 rpm. An accessory fit A2 conversion kit is available in Europe, including the A2-specific APS twist grip and a unique engine tune, which restricts peak power to 47 PS, or 35kW, and peak torque to 59 Nm. The bike can be de-restricted at the dealership, once the rider has completed their full licence.

The Trident’s smooth six-speed gearbox, with gear ratios and final drive that are optimised to make the riding experience easy and fun, is further enhanced by the addition of the Triumph Shift Assist, included as standard for this special edition. This quickshifter enables clutchless changes up and down the ratios, with an autoblipper on downshifts for fast, seamless changes.

CLASS LEADING HANDLING

Renowned for its agile, sporty and confidence-inspiring feel on the road, the Trident has an accessible 805mm seat height and a low wet weight of 189kg. It is already leading the class, with a high specification of branded equipment including black Showa upside down forks delivering 120mm front wheel travel, and Showa preload adjustable monoshock RSU with linkage, which delivers 133.5mm rear wheel travel.

For great stopping power, the Trident has two-piston Nissin brakes with twin 310mm discs and Michelin Road 5 tyres, giving the rider confidence in all weathers.

The Trident has its own dedicated chassis with tubular steel construction, lightweight tapered aluminium bars and lightweight 17” cast aluminium sports wheels which combined with the high specification equipment, delivers a light steering weight and agility that’s really confidence-inspiring and easy to control.

HIGH SPECIFICATION TECHNOLOGY

The Trident 660 provides all LED-lighting*, ABS, Road and Rain riding modes, switchable traction control and a ride-by-wire throttle, for crisp, precise throttle response, as well as a practical, multi-functional, colour TFT screen, integrated with a ‘white-on’ black’ LCD display. For enhanced security, an engine immobiliser is built into the key.

* Items are market specific

60 years of KYMCO celebrated with unmissable offers

KYMCO UK’s positive outlook for 2024 coincides with the Taiwanese manufacturer’s 60th anniversary year, with attractive offers on key models in time for the recently launched ‘24’ registration plate – and the new biking season bringing better spring weather that invites tens of thousands of motorcyclists back on the roads.

The key models on offer that are part of KYMCO’s 60th birthday celebrations, include the Agility City+ 125 scooter and VSR 125 motorcycle, which have both had their limited time offers extended until further notice.

The Agility City+ 125 is a comfortable, safe and agile scooter, with an RRP of £2,559. It’s now offered with free on-the-road (OTR) fees within list price, as well as a free SHAD 29-litre Top Box – saving customers an average of £230.

The VSR 125 is a stylish and well-equipped naked bike for the learner or entry level motorcycle rider, with an RRP of £2,559. It’s now equipped with a sporty soundtrack, thanks to its free Delkevic performance exhaust with carbon silencer – worth around £200.

The Agility City+ 125 and the VSR 125, along with every other new petrol-powered KYMCO motorcycle or ATV are also equipped with two forms of Datatool security free of charge. Datatool’s Stealth Tracker (subscription required) and DNA Security Marking System are both included – saving customers around £400. This is part of the both companies’ commitments to tackling the increasing problem of motorcycle and ATV theft in the UK.

Neil Keeble, National Sales and Marketing Manager at KYMCO UK, said:“We are optimistic about the future growth of KYMCO as a motorcycle manufacturer in the UK, as several competitive models with attractive offers serve as a tempting low-cost alternative to rivals.

The Storm is Coming Triumph Unveils Two New Rocket 3 Models

Twenty years after the first record-breaking Rocket III burst onto the motorcycle scene as the ultimate muscle roadster, a new generation of Rocket has been revealed, delivering more performance, better handling and a dark, moody colour scheme.

It even has a new name, the Rocket 3 Storm, to match its muscular style and spectacular riding experience.

Featuring the world’s largest production motorcycle engine with a capacity of 2,458cc, the new Rocket 3 Storm R and GT gain 15PS peak power, now delivering a massive 182PS at 7,000rpm.

Torque has also been increased by 4Nm, reaching a new peak of 225Nm at a low 4,000rpm. This flat, rich torque curve with maximum torque all the way through the mid-range gives explosive acceleration and effortless response in any gear.

The Rocket’s 16-inch rear and 17-inch front wheels have been updated with a sportier ten-spoke cast aluminium design, reducing unsprung mass. This reduction has a positive impact on steering response while on the move, improving the Rocket’s already impressive agility. The strong and lightweight aluminium frame, first introduced in 2019, uses cast and forged elements for an exceptional torque-to-weight ratio.

Following the sales success of recent special edition Rockets which featured blacked-out components, the new Rocket 3 Storm models feature a dark, moody colour scheme and an impeccable level of quality detailing.

The large 18 litre tank features the new Storm name, and each model has three distinctive two-tone colour options. The R is available in Carnival Red with Sapphire Black, Satin Pacific Blue with Matt Sapphire Black and Sapphire Black with Granite. The GT is available in the same colours, but the split of the tank is reversed, providing a distinctive, high impact look and consistent colour choice across both models. The Rocket 3 Storm also comes with high-quality black finishes throughout.

Also new for 2024, the Rocket 3 Storm now exceeds the latest Euro 5b requirements, featuring liquid cooling, low emissions and excellent fuel efficiency.

Paul Stroud, Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Known around the world as the ultimate muscle roadster, the Rocket has already achieved global sales of more than 18,000 since the 2.5 litre engine was introduced in 2019. By listening to feedback from our customers, we know they love the Rocket’s muscular presence and heart-stopping performance. We also know that riders desire even more.

“That’s why the new Rocket 3 Storm R and GT have been given an impressive power and torque increase, even greater agility and an even darker, moodier style and presence on the road.”

EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING

Harnessing the Rocket’s impressive performance to deliver a controlled and compliant ride, is a Showa monoshock RSU and piggy-back reservoir, fully adjustable for rebound and compression damping and preload. The forks are large 47mm Showas, adjustable for rebound and compression damping.

Exceptional stopping power is provided by top-specification radial Brembo Stylema brake calipers with twin 320mm discs. These lightweight, compact, and high performing calipers offer great airflow for pad cooling during spirited riding. The Brembo M4.32 4 piston radial monobloc rear caliper and 300mm rear disc is bigger and more powerful than the front brake setup on many bikes, helping to provide massive stopping power. The Rocket 3 Storm retains full optimised cornering ABS functionality.

DISTINCT ERGONOMICS

Each Rocket offers a distinct feel and personality, due to key differences in their ergonomics. The Rocket R’s roadster rider position and handlebar placement is designed to provide optimum power and control, to create a relaxed and engaging ride. The GT has a slightly more swept back set-up with a 125mm difference in grip position versus the R, for a more upright riding position.

Each model also gets its own dedicated seating set-up, each with premium black painted cast aluminium seat finishers. The Rocket 3 Storm R has a roadster rider and pillion seat with a 773mm seat height, offering comfort, low-speed confidence and manoeuvrability. The GT has a sculpted touring rider seat with a more generously padded pillion seat and an adjustable pillion backrest. The seat height for the GT is just 750mm, further improving comfort for the rider.

The biggest difference between the two models is the footpeg positions. The R has mid-foot controls, with two settings that offer 15mm of vertical adjustment, to cater for every size of rider, delivering a natural and sporty riding position. The GT has feet forward foot controls giving a laid-back custom bike feel, with three horizontal position settings offering 50mm of adjustment, to provide the most comfortable position for long rides. Both R and GT models have innovative, neat, blacked out, retractable pillion footrests.

BLACKED OUT STYLE

Flawlessly engineered with unparalleled attention to detail, the Rocket 3 Storm sets the benchmark for premium finish. From the black powder-coated intake cover to the hydro-formed exhaust headers, the materials used throughout the Rocket 3 Storm have been carefully chosen with an unmatched attention to detail, to deliver blacked-out attitude.

On top of that, Rocket 3 Storm also comes with high-quality black anodised finishes throughout; rear frame forging, swingarm guard, forks lowers and yokes, risers and handlebar clamps, RSU Rocker, seat finisher, footrests & hangers for rider and pillion, brake and gear pedals, levers, and side stand.

Amplifying the bikes’ aggressive stance and attitude, both Rocket 3 Storms have twin LED headlights with the Triumph maker’s mark triangle and signature shaped daytime running lights (DRL)*. There are LED indicators, rear light and number plate light, delivering a really distinctive light signature.

RIDER FOCUSED TECHNOLOGY

From lean-angle sensitive ABS and traction control to switchable throttle maps and intuitive cruise control, rider-focused technology allows riders to confidently exploit the Rocket 3 Storm’s epic performance potential.

Ride-by-wire enhances rideability, safety and control, while the Rocket’s high-performance gearbox is engineered with helical cut gears to transmit the huge torque to the rear wheel smoothly. The Torque Assist clutch helps riders shift up and down the six-speed box with satisfying speed and smoothness, while a Quickshifter is available as an accessory fit for both models.

Both models feature optimised cornering ABS and traction control for enhanced stability, improving both straight line and cornering, acceleration and braking. Hill Hold prevents the bike rolling backwards and applies the rear brake until sensing the rider is starting to move off. Both come equipped with four riding modes, road, rain, sport and rider-configurable, which adjusts the throttle map and traction control settings.

The electronic cruise control system is fitted as standard as well. Activated by a single press of the button, the speed can be set and adjusted up or down in 1mph increments, as well as be resumed with just one touch.

Both models feature a high functionality full colour TFT set-up with a five-way back-lit joystick. This has a minimal stylish design with two information layout design themes, and the adjustable instrument angle set-up provides optimum visibility for every height of rider. The rider can even personalise the start-up screen message with their name.

Adding extra security, both bikes have standard fit keyless ignition and steering lock, which can be disabled. The key fob can also be turned off to prolong battery life and increase security. There is also a USB charging socket in a dedicated compartment under the seat, where devices can be kept safe and dry while charging.

MAKE THE ROCKET 3 STORM YOUR OWN

With over 50 Genuine Triumph Accessories to add comfort, practicality, style and security, riders can customise their Rocket to make it truly bespoke. Customers can choose from interchangeable R and GT foot controls, rider and pillion seats for tailored ergonomics, plug and play technology for greater convenience, styling parts to customise the look and luggage solutions for longer rides. Designed hand-in-hand with our motorcycles and manufactured to the same exacting standards, all Triumph accessories have the same two-year unlimited mileage warranty as the bikes themselves.

ON THE ROAD

The new Rocket 3 Storm R will be available from £23,195 OTR, while the Rocket 3 Storm GT will be £23,895 OTR. Customers can find out more at triumphmotorcycles.co.uk or place an order with their local Triumph dealer, with bikes arriving in dealerships from April 2024.

Yamaha Motor Europe announces 2024 YRE and commitment to the future of the R1

Over the last decade, the global motorcycle market has seen significant changes as the needs of riders have evolved in line with external circumstances.

On top of these changes, emissions regulations have become more stringent.

The evolution of the Supersport category is undoubtedly among the most noticeable of these changes.

Staying true to its brand origin and DNA, Yamaha Motor Europe remains committed to the road going Supersport segment in the future and is confident the product line-up in this sector – based on platform models like R125, R3 or R7 – will continue to excite and exhilarate customers both on the road and the track.

In line with the change in demand and customer needs, Yamaha Motor Europe has taken the decision that the future of its track-targeting Supersport models will be dedicated solely to track use from 2025 – with the R1 following the same route taken with R6 in 2020.

This is not to say it is the end for the iconic R1; far from it. Global production of the R1 will continue in 2025 and beyond, as will the development program that has seen the bike secure world titles in both the FIM Superbike and Endurance World Championships in recent years.

The R1 remains a popular choice for riders and teams looking to secure a competitive and cost-effective package for both casual track day use and racing, from the grassroots club level to national and international race series.

It is for this reason that Yamaha has consistently invested in making available to customers a range of GYTR® Performance parts for the R1, leveraging the experience of the same engineers responsible for the development of the R1 WorldSBK campaigned this year by six-time World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea.

Yamaha Motor Europe and its distributors have also set-up a dedicated network of GYTR PRO SHOPS to support riders looking to get the most out of any of its R-Series Supersport models on track.

Each GYTR PRO SHOP is run by a Yamaha dealer with a wealth and passion for motorcycle racing, who are actively involved in racing themselves and in direct contact with the Yamaha Road Racing Technical Service. Examples include Crescent Motorcycles, who operate Yamaha’s official WorldSBK team, the GRT Yamaha WorldSBK team, who recently opened their GYTR PRO SHOP at the Misano World Circuit, the Yamaha Austria Racing Team, the reigning EWC Champions, and Ten Kate Racing, the most successful WorldSSP Team ever.

While the R1 as standard is ready for the track, many track-focused customers transform their R1 from a road-going machine to a purely track-focused weapon. With the R1 moving to a track-focused model from 2025 and beyond, this step will be simplified allowing more opportunity for customers to access the performance-enhancing GYTR parts.

Throughout 2024 the road going homologated R1 and R1M will still be available through all Yamaha dealers and to emphasise their current commitment to the segment, Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed the popular and prestigious Yamaha Racing Experience event.

Taking place at Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto on 3rd and 4th July 2024, the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary owners and 2024 R1M owners are invited (free of charge) to join this immersive racing experience, which offers a broad program of riding, plus the presence of the legendary Yamaha Brand Ambassador and R1 GYTR owner Valentino Rossi, the Pata Prometeon Yamaha WorldSBK team and other Yamaha Official riders.

Racing is in Yamaha’s DNA; and no matter what challenges may be faced in the future, Yamaha is committed to retaining this vital part of its identity, moving forwards through the continued development of the entire Supersport range both on track and on road, its GYTR strategy and the unique bLU cRU program dedicated to its racers.

2024 Honda CB125R

Honda’s uniquely styled Neo Sports Café 125cc machine receives fresh styling touches and a new full 5in colour TFT meter – inherited from the CB1000R – which is controlled by all-new switchgear. Four new colours for 24YM further enhance the appeal and presence of the CB125R, the gateway to Neo Sports Café ownership. Top level standard specification includes single-cylinder DOHC 4V engine, high-quality 41mm Showa ‘Separate Function’ Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks, radial-mount four-piston front brake caliper operating with floating disc, plus IMU-controlled ABS.

1. Introduction
When embarking on a two-wheeled career, there are certain fundamentals that every rider looks for from their first motorcycle: an easy-to-ride chassis, with engaging real-world engine performance, and super-agile handling. Wrap those fundamentals, however, in distinctive, classy styling and add a host of premium specifications, and the result can be an extra special machine with which to begin a life on two wheels.

It was for new riders looking for this kind of package that Honda introduced the all-new CB125R in 2017. The smallest member of Honda’s minimalist, bare-boned ‘Neo Sports Café’ family, the CB125R was launched alongside the CB300R and the flagship CB1000R, and represented a bold new, premium addition to the ranks of Honda’s entry level machines.

In 21YM the CB125R received a brand-new, 4 valve engine and major front suspension upgrade, keeping it at the head of a competitive field, and at the top of many young riders’ wish list.

For 24YM, the CB125R is compliant with new EURO5+ emissions targets and the addition of an all-new 5in full colour TFT display, all-new switchgear and four new colours heighten the appeal even further.

2. Model Overview
The attention-grabbing style of the CB125R is a real standout feature among its peers and sets it apart from the homogeneous crowd.

Peppy and fun to rev, the EURO5+ DOHC 4V engine delivers a healthy 11.0kW power with 11.6Nm torque. And 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks bring big-bike suspension quality to a small bike. Braking is equally impressive: a 296mm floating front disc is worked by a radial-mount, four-piston caliper with ABS controlled by Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). For 24YM a new 5in full colour display and new switchgear add further appeal.

The 24YM CB125R will be available in the following colour options:

  • **NEW** Matt Cynos Gray Metallic with Black sump guard and shrouds
  • **NEW** Pearl Cool White with Matt Cynos Gray Metallic sump guard and shrouds
  • **NEW** Reef Sea Blue Metallic with Matt Cynos Gray Metallic sump guard and shrouds
  • **NEW** Pearl Splendor Red with Matt Cynos Gray Metallic sump guard and shrouds

3. Key Features

3.1 Engine

  • Single-cylinder, DOHC 4V, liquid-cooled
  • 11kW peak power, 11.6Nm peak torque
  • EURO5+ compliant

The CB125R uses its very own EURO5+ compliant 125cc, DOHC 4V engine design which produces 11.0kW @ 10,000rpm and 11.6Nm @ 8,000rpm. Top speed is 105km/h, with 0-200m covered in 11.3s. The gearbox is six-speed.

The 24YM CB125R features a new, catalyser in the exhaust system, with no loss in performance.

Bore and stroke is set at 57.3 x 48.4mm, with compression ratio of 11.3:1. PGM-FI fuel injection feeds cleanly through the inlet duct, air cleaner connector tube and resonator. The exhaust is underslung and exits through a dual-chamber muffler.

The new EURO5+ emissions targets, which will become a legal requirement at the end of 2024, sees the introduction of new ‘on-board’ monitoring of the catalyst, the lowering of the threshold for identifying a fault and therefore warning the owner earlier, stricter noise restrictions and improving long-term exhaust emissions.

3.2 Chassis

  • 41mm Showa’s Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks
  • Radial-mount 4-piston caliper and hubless 296mm floating front disc
  • ABS works through Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)

Underpinning the CB125R’s minimalism is its tubular and pressed steel construction lattice-style frame. The swingarm is manufactured from steel plate, irregularly shaped in cross-section. Both are designed to achieve high longitudinal rigidity and control torsion from wheel deflection without excess rigidity or weight.

The chassis’ core strength is anchored by the pressed steel swingarm pivot plates and swingarm, allowing the frame to deliver agile handling with stability and feedback; rake and trail are set at 24.2°/90.2mm.

A 51.5% front/48.5% rear weight bias provides a positive feel for front-end grip and easy steering which is also helped by the low, 130kg wet weight and compact 1345mm wheelbase. Fat bar-style handlebars turn through 40° and the 2.3m turning circle guarantees easy passage in jammed city traffic. Seat height is 816mm.

41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks use a pressure separation damper in one fork tube and spring mechanism in the other deliver high damper performance and lighter weight. Together with the use of a larger sized piston the result is increased feel, bump absorption and control. The rear monoshock is non-adjustable.

The rest of the running gear comprises a 296mm hubless floating front disc, gripped by a radial-mount Nissin four-piston caliper, the rear 220mm disc a single-piston caliper. Both are modulated by 2-channel ABS. The high specification system works through an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) to give precise front to rear distribution of ABS operation depending on the vehicle behaviour. A 150/60R-17 radial rear tyre is matched to a 110/70R-17 radial front.

3.3 Styling & equipment

  • New 5in full colour TFT meter inherited from CB1000R
  • New left switchgear
  • Industrial minimal styling with four new colours and new ‘big logo’ graphics for a bold visual impact
  • Full LED lighting
  • 10.1L fuel tank gives 460km range

The CB125R’s styling is unique to the machine, following the unmistakeable ‘Neo Sports Café’ design language of the CB1000R – minimalist retro styling with a very modern twist – and injects a harder-edged attitude to Honda’s entry level range. For 24YM, this styling has been enhanced with the addition of an all new 5in full colour high-visibility TFT screen inherited from the CB1000R. The screen offers three types of speed/rpm display – analogue or bar, according to rider preference – as well as fuel gauge/consumption, gear selected and customisable shift-up point on the rev-counter. Management is via the new left switchgear, which is both stylish and intuitive.

The cutaway tail unit is compact in the extreme and holds the rear mudguard mount. Both rider and pillion footpeg hangers are aluminium.

Full LED lighting – including indicators – adds a further premium feel and contributes to mass centralisation. The headlight uses a dual bar light signature, upper for low beam and lower for high beam and the taillight remains thin and stylish.

The 10.1L fuel tank is hidden underneath an angular cover and shrouds and houses an aircraft-style filler cap. With fuel economy of 45.5km/l (WMTC mode), the CB125R can cover over 460km from full.

The 24YM CB125R features colour matched big CB125R logos on the radiator shrouds, and negative coloured Honda Wing logos on the tank. The only exception is the Matt Cynos Gray Metallic colour scheme, which is unique in the line-up, with gold CB125R and Honda Wing logo on shrouds and tank respectively.

4. Accessories

A full range of genuine Honda accessories are available for the CB125R and include:

  • 5 stage heated grips with memory function
  • 15L rear seat bag, expandable to 22L, complete with rain cover
  • 12V ACC socket

The CB125R receives four new colours

The CB125R receives four new colours, a new full colour TFT meter and EURO5+ classification for 24YM.

Ever since its introduction, the CB125R has been a bike that has stood head and shoulders above its peers. Powered by its fun and peppy 125cc engine, the CB125R has been the gateway for many into Honda Neo Sports Café ownership, all of whom have benefitted from rich specifications and minimalist retro styling presented with a very modern twist.

Together with the additional premium touch of a new 5in full colour TFT meter inherited from the CB1000R, the CB125R gains four striking new colour schemes for 24YM that ensure it will continue to stand out from the crowd for years to come.

The new screen offers the rider a choice of three types of display for speed and rpm, and clearly shows information on fuel consumption and gear selection; it also features a customisable shift-up point on the rev-counter. The screen is paired with an all-new left switchgear, which is both stylish and intuitive.

The 24YM CB125R will be available in four new colours: Matt Cynos Gray, Pearl Cool White, Reef Sea Blue Metallic and Pearl Splendor Red with colour matching rear fairing. All feature colour-matched big CB125R logos on the radiator shrouds, and negative-coloured Honda Wing logos on the tank. The only exception is the Matt Cynos Gray Metallic colour scheme, which is unique in the line-up, with gold CB125R and Honda Wing logo on shrouds and tank respectively.

For 21YM, the CB125R gained 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks from its Neo Sports Café sibling, the CB650R, bringing real ‘big-bike’ suspension quality to a 125cc machine. It also received an all-new engine that delivers a healthy 11.0kW power with 11.6Nm torque, which for 24YM, is homologated for EURO5+.

At its heart is a powerful 799 cc parallel-twin DOHC engine. Tipping the scales at 52 kg dry, the engine offers a peak power output of 105 hp with its reliability and efficiency guaranteed by innovative technologies that extend service intervals to 15,000 km and ensure an extremely low fuel consumption.

The pairing of its lightweight engine and frame gives the Svartpilen 801 a perfectly balanced power-to-weight ratio, resulting in a consistently agile and exciting ride. A Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC) system maximises traction under hard acceleration and prevents instability under hard braking, with an Easy Shift providing seamless gear changes. Adjustable WP APEX suspension offers 140 mm of fork travel and 150 mm of shock travel for assured comfort and handling both in and out of town. Pirelli MT60 RS tyres – fitted to 17” wheels – provide a high level of grip and feedback.

The minimalist look of the Svartpilen 801 is achieved by premium details such as the LED lights and aluminium handlebars, coming together to create a unique and eye-catching street machine. Slimline ergonomic bodywork finished in dark tones wraps neatly around the engine and frame, with a two-piece seat offering a high level of comfort and unrestricted movement.

State-of-the-art electronic aids improve the rideability of the Svartpilen 801, with an optional Dynamic Pack taking the street riding experience to an even higher level. In addition to adjustable Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) and ABS, Street, Rain and Sport ride modes are pre-set options as standard. The Dynamic Pack introduces Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) for controlled deceleration with the Anti-Wheelie mode limiting the maximum wheelie angle for extra safety.

A best-in-class technology package provides ease of use and maximum performance for every rider. The J.Juan brake system delivers exceptional stopping power thanks to the corner-sensitive Bosch ABS system. For advanced riders, a Supermoto ABS mode can be engaged by those looking for a heightened level of braking feel and a closer connection with the road.

Versatility and safety are enhanced by premium electronic features, including a 5” TFT dashboard and Connectivity Unit as standard. Pairing the unit with the Ride Husqvarna Motorcycles app allows for clear Turn-by-Turn navigation to be activated, as well as the ability to control telephone calls and music selection. A Hazard Warning system is also integrated into the handlebar controls while anti-theft protection is provided via the immobiliser.

Zero Aims To Save UK Car Commuters A Week A Year In Congestion

Zero, the leading EV motorcycle producer, is aiming to save UK car commuters from wasting two weeks sitting in traffic.

Recent data from the UK Government shows that the average commuter spent 1hr 17 minutes per day sat in traffic in 2023, that’s equivalent to 14 days per year and up 6% from 2022.

With the average commute standing at 19.5 miles each way, commuters having to commute into the city fared worse, with London particularly bad. City of London commuters are delayed an enormous 2 hours and 22 seconds per day. That’s the equivalent of 837 hours a year, or over thirty-four days. Average speed was also the lowest at 13.6 mph, down from 14.3 mph in 2022.

However, there is a solution – motorcycles. It’s estimated that on average, motorcycles take approximately 16-46% less time to cover the same trip through congested traffic than a car. That’s a saving of almost a week over the course of a year.

There is a significant cost benefit in going from four wheels to two – especially when it is an EV, such as Zero. Cutting costs on tax, fuel, ULEZ, and congestion charges is yet another benefit to avoiding the rising levels of congestion.  As an approximate saving, a Zero rider travelling into London five days a week will save £120 per month on fuel, £250 on ULEZ charges, and £300 on congestion charges.

For that reason, Zero have launched their ‘Own Your Commute’ campaign which seeks to encourage more riders to make the simple switch to electric motorcycles. With just a simple CBT (Compulsory Basic Training), completed in a day, the world of two-wheeled commuting is unlocked, and sitting in congestion a thing of the past. For just £9,995, car drivers stuck in traffic can make the switch to effortless and affordable commuting.

Dale Robinson, UK Country Manager at Zero Motorcycles, said: “We live in a world where time is precious. Lost minutes can have a huge effect on your productivity, attitude, and even as far as your mental health. Being able to maximise your time on the things that truly matter is of huge importance.

“Think about the last thing you did with a bank holiday weekend. Spent time with the family? Went to the beach? Took a long weekend away with a partner? What I can guarantee you didn’t do was sit in a traffic jam from the very beginning to the bitter end.

“When the cost benefit and the time benefit are unrivalled by going onto two wheels, I challenge you to find anyone who wouldn’t want a shorter journey that costs less.”
