Test ride a new Suzuki this bank holiday

Suzuki has announced a bank holiday test ride bonanza, with dealerships nationwide participating in a weekend of activity on 27-29 May, that will see all of the firm’s new models available to test ride.

The all-new GSX-8S will be available, as will the equally new V-Strom 800DE, with both models using Suzuki’s new 776cc parallel twin engine, with it’s 270° crankshaft design and punchy character.

Additionally, the new-for-2023 V-Strom 1050DE and V-Strom 1050 models are also available. Both get a comprehensive suite of electronics, including a six-axis IMU.

Other models in the Suzuki range will also be available to test ride, including the legendary Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GT – last year’s best-selling sports tourer – the GSX-S1000, SV650 and SV650X, and the Burgman 400 maxi scooter.

Test rides run from 27-29 May. Customers can find their nearest dealer at bikes.suzuki.co.uk/dealers.

Team Classic Suzuki announces Webb and Fagan to race GSX-R1000 at Paul Ricard

Team Classic Suzuki will field Danny Webb and Alastair Fagan at this weekend’s opening round of the European Endurance Cup.

The duo will race the team’s new GSX-R1000 K1 in a four-hour endurance race around the famous Paul Ricard circuit.

Webb boasts a long history with Team Classic Suzuki, and has raced both XR69 and RG500 machinery for the outfit at the Classic TT on the Isle of Man. He’s also no stranger to endurance racing – with much EWC experience – or classic endurance racing – having raced for Team Classic Lincs Suzuki around Spa Francorchamps on a GSX-R750.

His teammate for the weekend will be experienced former British Superbike racer Alastair Fagan, standing in for an injured Bob Collins, who was set to make his debut for the team before suffering an injury at Castle Combe.

Fagan, too, is no stranger to Team Classic Suzuki, having ridden the team’s Katana at a previous event.

Danny Webb said, “I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s going to be quite an experience riding a GSX-R1000 K1 around the incredible Paul Ricard circuit. The team’s done another awesome job in preparing the bike and it really does look mint as well. We’ve got a good team around us, and the aim is to get a good setting in the bike on Friday ahead of the race. Of course, the goal is to win if we can and I think we’re in with a shout, but this is endurance racing and we all know that anything can happen.”

Alastair Fagan said, “I’m obviously gutted for my mate Bob but, at the same time, I’m honoured to have had the call to replace him on the Team Classic Suzuki GSX-R1000. When you get a call for this gig you don’t say no. I’ve never raced at Paul Ricard but I know the team and I know the bike will be more than up for the job, and I’ll be doing everything I can to help the team get a result.”

Team manager Nathan Colombi added, “I think we’ve got a strong lineup for this weekend’s event. Obviously we know Danny very well, he’s done a lot with us before, his CV speaks for itself, and he’s got a lot of experience. Alastair is joining us a bit last minute, as he’ll be deputising for an injured Bob Collins, but again, we’ve worked together before, he’s a fast, reliable, safe pair of hands with lots of experience on a range of bikes. It’s obviously the first proper outing for the bike so we’ll have a bit of work to get through in practice, but I don’t think we’ll be miles away in terms of setup. There are a lot of good, professional teams in this championship and a lot of fast riders, but hopefully we can have a good race, manage our pit stops well, and come away with a strong result.”

Team Classic Suzuki reveals GSX-R1000 K1 racer

Team Classic Suzuki has revealed its latest race bike build; a first generation GSX-R1000 built to contest European Endurance Cup rounds, the series the team first entered with its Katana in 2017.

Despite enjoying success with the Katana – including a class win for John Reynolds and Pete Boast at Oschersleben in 2018 – recent rule changes have opened the class up to the first GSX-R1000 K1.

The Team Classic Suzuki machine is dressed in the immediately recognisable livery that is already donned by a number of other race bikes in the team’s stable. Underneath, a freshly-rebuilt GSX-R1000 engine gets a performance boost from a set of Yoshimura cams, which is allowed to breathe more freely thanks to a full titanium Yoshimura exhaust system.

The standard frame is mated to a swingarm from a factory GSX-R750 endurance racer, wheels are from OZ, the rear shock is from K-Tech, while K-Tech internals sit inside a set of Team Classic Suzuki in-house forks. Stopping power comes from Brembo.

Team Classic Suzuki’s Nathan Colombi said, “We enjoyed racing the Katana at a number of endurance events in Europe, and also at the Classic TT, however, once the rules opened up to allow GSX-Rs in, we had to get involved and build our own. To be honest it came together quite quickly and we’re still finalising our plans for the season, but it’s great – if a bit terrifying that so much time has passed – that GSX-R1000s can go classic racing now.

“We’ve obviously used a lot of performance parts in the build, but we’ve been able to use Suzuki’s Race Parts Programme when we’ve needed genuine components, which will be of use for anyone else racing a GSX-R in this series, club racing, or at national level.”

Team Classic Suzuki will confirm its racing plans for the season in due course.

Get ready to ride this summer with a new offer on Suzuki 650 twins

Get ready to ride this summer, with a new offer on all of Suzuki’s 650 V-twin models that includes a £500 off test ride incentive, a two–year free service plan, plus low-rate, 4.9% APR finance available on PCP or HP for up to four years with no deposit required.

The offer, which runs until 30 June 2023, covers the SV650 – the bike that defined the middleweight twins category – plus its café racer-styled SV650X stablemate and the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT adventure machines.

All four models use Suzuki’s iconic, tried and trusted 645cc V-twin powerplant that boasts a quarter of a century of development and delivers incredibly smooth, linear power in both the SV and V-Strom models, with strong acceleration from the very bottom of the rev range and a stirring soundtrack. Reworked and redesigned over the years, in the very latest SV650 it produces 73PS and 64Nm of torque, all while meeting the latest Euro5 emissions regulations.

With £500 off, the SV650 comes with an RRP of £6,499, and even with no deposit, on a four-year PCP deal it can be ridden for £91.70 per month. The V-Strom 650XT, with its spoked wheels, handguards, traction control, low RPM assist, and easy-start system, can be had for just £101.96 per month as part of a four-year PCP deal, with just a £500 deposit.

Jonathan Martin, Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, said, “Our 650 V-twin is a motorcycling stalwart and represents one of the most-loved, and most-purchased engines in motorcycling. It has powered, and continues to power, models that combine an engaging riding experience with exceptional value. We are now adding even more value by offering money off, low-rate finance with no deposit required and a two–year free service plan which includes parts and labour.”

The two years’ free servicing includes the initial 600-mile first service, the first annual or 7,500-mile service, and the second annual or 15,000-mile service*.

Bag a ‘Busa for less with new Suzuki offer

Suzuki’s Hayabusa is now available with just 2.9% APR representative over three years, on both PCP and HP agreements, with just a £1,000 deposit.

Better still, the iconic hyperbike also comes with two years’ free servicing.

Running from now until 30 June 2023, the offer means the third generation Hayabusa – complete with its jaw-dropping 1340cc inline-four cylinder engine, that produces an abundance of power across its entire rev range, and its comprehensive suite of electronics that includes power modes, lean angle-sensitive traction control and ABS, launch control, and a bi-directional quickshifter – is available for £240.15 per month, with the minimum £1,000 deposit on a three-yearPCP deal.

And with two years free servicing, customers can continue to save, making it even easier to own a legend. The two years free servicing includes the initial 600mile first service, plus the first annual or 7,500-mile service and the second annual or15,000mile service*.

The latest iteration of the iconic hypersport machine is still unmistakably Hayabusa, with a silhouette that pays homage to the original while adding new angles and accents that present a thoroughly modern, classy look. Class extends to the clocks, too, with two big analogue dials also nodding to the original, while flanking a colour TFT dash displaying a plethora of information.

The electronics package enhances the performance from the proven motor. Still nothing comes close to a Hayabusa powerplant, with its turbine-like power delivery, which is housed in a twin-spar aluminium frame, while fully adjustable KYB forks, Brembo Stylema calipers, and specially designed Bridgestone tyres deliver a sporty-yet-plush ride.

Find out more about the Hayabusa, here.

*The second annual service must take place no later than two years after date of registration. Terms and conditions apply.

Get £500 off Suzuki 125s and a free service plan with new Burgman 400

Both Suzuki’s GSX-S and GSX-R125 machines are available with £500 off the RRP from now until the end of June, while the Burgman 400 is available with a complimentary two-year service plan.

As a result, the GSX-S125 street bike costs £4,199, with its racier sibling costing £4,499.

Both bikes produce an L-plate-friendly 15PS to adhere to UK and EU licence laws, but with a DOHC design the single-cylinder powerplant revs cleanly and freely to its top end. Allied to a featherweight chassis – the GSX-S weighs just 135kg, wet – both bikes are sporty and agile, as well as being easy to manage.

Suzuki’s easy-start system features on both, and a neat LCD dash displays all the information the rider requires, while the GSX-R125 also uses a keyless ignition system.

The smart commuter choice for the discerning rider, buyers of a new Burgman 400 will benefit from free servicing for two years. This includes the initial 600-mile service, followed by the 4000 and 7500-mile services, and covers all parts and labour.

The Burgman 400 – the original maxi scooter – embodies style and practicality. Recently updated with a new twin-plug cylinder head, revised cam profiles, and new 10-hole injectors, it produces strong low-down torque and pulls to higher top speeds than before, all while delivering over 70mpg.

A new traction control system adds a safety net in slippery conditions, as does an updated – and lighter – ABS unit, with practicality coming from 42 litres of under seat storage and two enclosed storage compartments up front, with one housing a 12V socket. Suzuki’s easy-start function also features, there’s a handbrake for use when parked, a centre stand comes as standard equipment, and LED lighting all round.

Suzuki launches Service Activated Warranty

Suzuki has launched a new Service Activated Warranty, which extends a motorcycle’s warranty period after the initial three years through regular servicing at authorised Suzuki dealerships.

The Service Activated Warranty is offered once the motorcycle reaches the end of its manufacturer warranty period of three years, and is booked in for its next scheduled service within the Suzuki Dealer network. This warranty then stays in place until the next qualifying service. It is then simply renewed again, up to a maximum vehicle age of seven years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The Service Activated Warranty is offered to customers completely free of charge.

All major components are covered, and should the machine be sold between services and within the seven-year qualifying period, the warranty will simply be transferred to the new owner.

The Service Activity Warranty can also be enjoyed by owners of secondhand machines, even if any original warranty has expired and if there is a gap in the service history. Providing the new owner has their motorcycle serviced at a Suzuki dealership and goes through a Suzuki Motorcycle Health Check in the first instance, it will benefit from a fresh, one-year warranty.

For these customers, the Service Activated Warranty will begin 30 days from the date the authorised Suzuki Dealer service has been completed.

Denis Houston, Director Aftersales at Suzuki GB, said, “At Suzuki, customer experience and retention are paramount, the launch of Service Activated Warranty will certainly enhance this for the future, ensuring our customers get the best levels of service, fitment of genuine parts and avail of the expertise within our dealer network rather than going to a non-franchised repairer once their manufacturer warranty expires. Offering Service Activated Warranty is free of charge to owners, is unique, and we are very proud to offer this as a strong message in support of our customers.”

Get £650 off Suzuki 650s until the end of March

Suzuki is offering customers a £650 test ride incentive on its four 650 V-twin models: the SV650 and SV650X, and the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT.

Between now and the end of March, 2023, customers can save themselves some extra cash simply by trying before they buy.

It means the SV650 – arguably the twin-cylinder machine that kicked off the affordable middleweight segment back in 1999 – can be had for just £6,349, while its café racer-inspired stablemate, the SV650X, is available for £6,849.

Powered by the same 90° V-twin, the adventure-ready V-Strom 650XT drops to £8,149 after the £650 saving, and the V-Strom 650 is reduced to £7,349.

The SV650, SV650X, and V-Strom 650XT are also currently available on Suzuki’s 4.9% APR offer, available on either PCP or HP, over four years with no deposit required.

Suzuki confirms withdrawal from the British Superbike Championship

Suzuki has confirmed its withdrawal from the British Superbike Championship, ahead of the 2023 season.

Aligning with its global racing strategy – which saw the termination of its MotoGP project as well as a scaling back of factory support in the Endurance World Championship – and following the departure of the current GSX-R1000R model from European markets, Suzuki has suspended its official involvement in the premier domestic superbike series.

Over the past six seasons – in partnership with Hawk Racing – the Suzuki GSX-R1000R has won superbike and superstock races with the likes of Bradley Ray, Richard Cooper, Sylvain Guintoli, Kyle Ryde, Gino Rea, Tim Neave, Billy McConnell, and Charlie Nesbitt behind the ‘bars. And in 2019 Cooper also helped steer Suzuki and Hawk Racing to the National Superstock 1000 Championship title.

There has also been success on the roads, with Cooper taking podium finishes at the North West 200, while Michael Dunlop raced the GSX-R to victory in the 2017 Senior TT, the bike’s first appearance at the prestigious Isle of Man TT races.

Suzuki would like to thank the riders and fans for their support, and especially Steve and Stuart Hicken and everyone at Hawk Racing for their hard work and dedication over the last six years, without which none of those historic results would have been possible. Everyone at Suzuki wishes the team well for the future.

Suzuki will continue to support racers campaigning GSX-R machinery at all levels via its Race Parts Programme.

Suzuki GSX-S1000GT top-selling sports tourer in 2022

While everyone’s attention turns to a new year, Suzuki is reflecting on a successful 2022 that saw the GSX-S1000GT end the year as the top-selling sports tourer, despite only going on sale in April.

Final figures for the year saw 781 bikes registered, with the forecast for more than 1,000 units to be sold before the end of March 2023, which would mark 12 months on sale.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, said, “Of course, we’re delighted with the popularity and success of the GSX-S1000GT. It was launched to high praise in the autumn of 2021, and we were seeing a huge number of reservations and orders before the bike had even arrived in dealerships. Despite that, and though it presented challenges, we managed to keep up with demand and we’re on course to top 1,000 sales by the end of its first year on sale, which is a fantastic achievement and something we’re all pleased with and proud of.”

The GSX-S1000GT seamlessly blends sports and touring capabilities, with a flexible, torque-laden inline-four cylinder engine producing 152PS peak power and 106Nm of peak torque, making it equally adept at motorway cruising as it is rev chasing on sportier runs.

That sportier performance is also enhanced by a bi-directional quickshifter and slipper clutch, while five traction control settings can be used to dial in the desired level of interference, depending on the road and riding conditions. The same is also true for three selectable power modes, while cruise control makes long distance touring a doddle.

All of that information, plus smartphone connectivity for calls, messages, and navigation, is displayed via a 6.5”, full-colour TFT screen, with day and night modes.

There’s a twin-spar aluminium frame, superbike-derived swingarm, and fully-adjustable forks from KYB and a rebound and preload adjustable shock, while angular and aggressive bodywork creates a fresh look for faired Suzuki machinery as well as having the benefits of extensive wind tunnel testing.

Available in dealerships now, the best-selling sports tourer can be had for £12,499, while £13,599 gets you the GSX-S1000GT+, which comes complete with two 36-litre panniers as standard.

Or, on a four-year PCP deal, the GSX-S1000GT can be ridden away for £149 per month, with a £2,641.55 deposit.

Suzuki Live set for Cadwell Park

Suzuki is set to welcome owners and enthusiasts to Cadwell Park on Friday 10 June for Suzuki Live, where the Japanese firm will celebrate both new and old models alike.

The day will bring together track sessions for bikes of all ages, test rides, special guests, classic bike displays, and a special parade lap for five of Barry Sheene’s iconic race bikes, recently restored by Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme.

Among others, celebrity special guests will include three-time British Superbike champion John Reynolds and World Superbike and EWC champion and MotoGP test rider-extraordinaire Sylvain Guintoli, and Danny Webb, who will be out on the RG500 he campaigned at the Classic TT for Team Classic Suzuki.

Key models from Suzuki’s on-road product range – including the new GSX-S1000GT sports tourer, GSX-S1000 naked, and third generation Hayabusa – will be available to test ride on the day on the stunning roads surrounding Cadwell Park. Those wishing to take a test ride must present a valid licence and produce a DVLA check code or National Insurance number.

A classic bike display will comprise a 1985 GSX-R750F, the TL1000s built brand new by the Vintage Parts Programme in 2014, a 1991 GSX-R1100L, and the Team Classic Suzuki Katana endurance racer.

Split into three groups, there are 111 track day spaces available on the day, costing £135 per person. However, access is free to those wishing to watch the action and the parades, or take a test ride.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycle marketing, Ian Bland, said, “It’s going to be a great celebration of Suzukis of all ages and at a circuit that is a firm favourite with many riders. Suzuki track days have been a regular feature of our events calendars in the past, however, for obvious reasons, they’ve been more difficult over the last couple of years. But this is shaping up to be a great event, with some great bikes and special guests too. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone and enjoying the action.”

Riders will be split into three groups on the day, based on their level of experience and the bike they are riding: Classic Novice for those new to track days or riding older classic machines, Classic Intermediate for those more familiar with track days or riding a classic model, and Open Advanced for the experienced riders on the latest Suzuki machinery.

Suzuki’s Hayabusa leads a summer sales campaign that sees seven of the brand’s key models available on a 2.9%, low-rate finance offer, available over three years with no deposit required. Customers can choose from a PCP or Hire Purchase agreement.

The third generation Hayabusa headlines the offer, with its inline four-cylinder motor packing an abundance of power and creamy midrange thrust, plus the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) suite of electronics which includes traction control, launch control, cruise control, wheelie control, lean angle-sensitive ABS, selectable power modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter.

Joining the Hayabusa are six of Suzuki’s punchy V-twin models: the V-Strom 1050XT flagship adventure bike, which also comes with SIRS and includes cruise control, traction control, power modes, and linked brakes with lean angle-sensitive ABS, hill hold, load and slope-dependent control, and the V-Strom 1050XT Tour, which adds three-piece aluminium luggage to the 1050XT’s comprehensive standard specification.

The middleweight V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT adventure bikes, SV650 naked and café racer-inspired SV650X are also included.

It means the Hayabusa can be ridden for £109 per month on a three-year PCP deal, with a £4,077.92 deposit or trade-in. The SV650X can be had for just £69 per month over the same period with a £1,761.47 deposit.

The offer runs from 1 April to 30 June 2022.

Suzuki summer test ride roadshow announced

Suzuki has announced dates of a summer test ride roadshow, which will take place at a variety of dealerships from April to September with a number of key models in the range available to demo, including the new GSX-S1000GT and the third generation Hayabusa.

Starting on April 9 at Completely Suzuki in Hinckley, Suzuki will be bringing a fleet of test ride bikes to each event – with individual dealerships also bolstering the number of bikes available with their own demo machines – that includes the V-Strom 1050XT adventure bike, GSX-S1000 naked, the newly-launched GSX-S1000GT, and the Hayabusa hyperbike.

With models such as the GSX-S1000GT in high demand the events will give prospective customers the chance to secure a test ride on the model they’re most interested in, and also sample many other bikes in Suzuki’s range

Suzuki GB’s head of motorcycle marketing, Ian Bland, commented, “We’ve had two years of uncertainty around events so it’s nice to be able to announce this roadshow and we’re looking forward to getting out on the road again. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet and spend time with customers, and provide more opportunities for them to test ride many of our most popular models. 2022 is set to be a great riding season, especially with our range of new bikes and current offers.”

Those wishing to book a test ride should contact their local participating dealership, and must ensure they are able to provide their driving licence and a DVLA check code, or their National Insurance number on the day.

Akrapovic silencers form Performance accessory pack for Suzuki Hayabusa

Suzuki has launched a new Performance accessory pack for its Hayabusa hypersport machine, which comes with an RRP of £2,599, representing a saving of £1,112 over the cost of the individual items.

The standout accessory in the kit is a pair of titanium Akrapovič silencers, which save a total of 4kg and boost power by 2kW, as well as enhancing the soundtrack. Capped with a carbon fibre tip and featuring a carbon fibre heat shield, the silencers are finished with a classy, laser-etched Akrapovič and Hayabusa logos.

Billet aluminium brake and clutch levers replace the original items, with extra style coming from a colour-coded pillion seat cowl, an accessory seat with Hayabusa logo and red stitching, plus a tank pad also adorned with a Hayabusa logo in a choice of gold or red, to suit the bike’s colour.

The Performance accessory pack can be fitted at the time of purchase, meaning it can also be incorporated into any finance deal, spreading the cost monthly, and benefits from the same three-year-warranty.

With an RRP of £16,499, the third generation Hayabusa uses a heavily redesigned engine – including new pistons, conrods, crankshaft, and camshaft – specifically aimed at producing enhanced performance in the lower to mid rev ranges, making it the fastest-launching Hayabusa yet with more cumulative torque than its predecessor.

It gets Suzuki’s most advanced suite of electronics ever, with 10 lean angle-sensitive traction control modes, lean angle-sensitive ABS, three power modes, a bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control and a speed limiter, and three stages of launch control, all controlled via easy-to-use switchgear and managed through a neat colour TFT display, nestled between two analogue dials reminiscent of the original Hayabusa’s clocks.

Design cues from the original also extend to the bodywork, which is sharper and more angular but nonetheless immediately recognisable as Hayabusa.

Get the Winning Balance – Save £600 on Suzuki RM-Z range this winter

Suzuki has scrubbed £600 off the RRP of its RM-Z range, with the Arenacross championship-winning RM-Z450 available for £6,399, and the RM-Z250 now costing £6,299. The offer runs from December 2021 until the end of March 2022.

The RM-Z450 boasts five Arenacross titles to its name, including winning the last running of the UK indoor series in 2020 thanks to SR75 World Team Suzuki. The team also took one to the podium at this year’s Skegness Beach Race, with Neville Bradshaw behind the ‘bars.

Bradshaw also contested the famous Weston Beach Race aboard a stock RM-Z250, devoid of modifications such as enlarged fuel tank and against more powerful 450 machines, finishing 24th from 1000 starters.

The RM-Z450 was completely redesigned for 2018 with a whole new chassis and more power from its 450cc motor, with the RM-Z250 benefitting from similar treatment a year later. Both bikes use Suzuki’s holeshot assist control and traction management systems.

Suzuki GB marketing manager, Ian Bland, commented, Both the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 are competitive in MX1 and MX2 competition, with a plethora of Arenacross titles to back it up and exceptional performances in other events. They are now even more competitively priced ready for the 2022 season, making it a perfect time to make the switch to a new RM-Z this coming season.”

Suzuki has pulled the covers off its Euro5 GSX-R and GSX-S125 machines, with the new learner-friendly models available in dealerships next summer.

In 2022 the GSX-R125 – which has become the weapon of choice in the Freetech 125 Endurance Championship having won the title two seasons in a row – is available in the signature MotoGP blue with the bold, white SUZUKI graphic adorning the fairing, as well as a black and grey take on the trademark design, offset by red wheels.
