New Keis Heated Bodywarmer with UltraFlex

New heated mid-layer designed from the ground up, using specially selected textiles and an enhanced heating system.

Keis Apparel, the UK’s leading provider of heated motorcycle clothing, has launched the next generation of its heated garments, incorporating UltraFlex technology.

Featuring tried and trusted micro carbon fibre heating panels, the new Heated Bodywarmer has a luxurious, elasticated outer shell, for maximum comfort and superior heating efficiency. The unique UltraFlex material provides generous elastic 4-way stretch, moulding the garment to the wearer’s body contours for a snug fit, without restricting movement.

Keis developed UltraFlex specifically for motorcycle mid-layers, so that riders can enjoy riding safely in colder environments;

  1. For maximum efficiency, heated clothing needs to be pressed gently against the body. Too tight and it can cause sores, too loose and it is less effective.
  2. Motorcycle mid-layers need to be flexible, so they don’t restrict movement on the bike or create tight spots, affecting blood flow.
  3. The fabric should not be bulky, so it takes up minimal space under riding jackets.

The unique fabric technology is created from a combination of 85% Chinlon and 15% Spandex. Commonly used in activewear, Chinlon is a synthetic, lightweight material known for its strength and durability. Combining a smooth, soft texture and an ability to wick away moisture, it is an ideal choice for clothing that needs to be breathable and comfortable. Adding Spandex creates exceptional elasticity, so the garments fit snugly, but without pressure.

With heating panels in the chest, back, and collar, the Keis UltraFlex Heated Bodywarmer produces 41W (3.4A) of heating power – almost three times more than previous models.

It is designed to be powered direct from a motorcycle battery and a wiring loom is included.

Available in all sizes from 2XS up to 3XL, the Keis B601RP UltraFlex Heated Bodywarmer retails for £180 (including VAT) and is currently supplied with a free Keis Power Controller, worth £38.

Keis offers a lifetime warranty on the heating element within all its heated garments and a two-year warranty on all clothing products. For more information, please visit keisapparel.com

Ducati Multistrada V4 RS, when Superbike meets touring

In the fourth episode of the Ducati World Première 2024 web series Ducati presents the new V4 RS the sportiest, most sophisticated and exclusive Multistrada ever created by the Bologna based manufacturer. Produced in a numbered series, the Multistrada V4 RS is the latest addition to the family which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year and is equipped with the Desmosedici Stradale engine, derived from that of the Panigale V4.

Thanks to the V4 equipped with desmodromic distribution, the Multistrada V4 RS offers unique performance and riding sensations, maintaining the balance that has always distinguished the family. The experience is made memorable by the unmistakable sound  of the Desmosedici Stradale with dry clutch and Akrapovič silencer, and by the spirited and exciting power delivery. Sensations also guaranteed by the chassis of the sportiest Multistrada in the family, thanks to Öhlins suspension, single-sided aluminium swingarm and forged rims.

The most demanding motorcyclists will appreciate the technical and stylistic details that make it a unique motorcycle in personality and substance. The RS logo, which becomes a real characterising element of the model, was designed by the Centro Stile and is shown in the livery, on the key and in the dashboard graphics. The slim and streamlined tail, designed exclusively for this bike, helps to make it even sportier.
The Multistrada V4 RS is a model in which every component, every detail – from the electronic package equipped with radar technology to the very light titanium rear frame – was chosen with a single objective: to create the sportiest touring motorcycle ever. The most exciting Multistrada ever created by Ducati.

Sporty style
The Ducati Multistrada V4 RS combines the unmistakable Multistrada line, elegant and dynamic, with technical solutions that recall the technologies used in racing, typical of Borgo Panigale’s super sports bikes. The name RS has exactly this meaning, recalling another motorcycle in Ducati history – the Monster S4 RS – born according to the same inspiring principles.

The various carbon fibre components such as the front mudguard, the hand guards (designed specifically for this model), the heat shields and the front “beak”, create a play of contrasts with the Iceberg White livery, enriched by various references to the colour of the Desmosedici MotoGP.

The slender and lightweight techno-polymer tail integrates the passenger handles and defines a sporty, sophisticated and unmistakable side view. The titanium seat support frame is a component of great technical elegance which accentuates its sportiness and allows a weight saving of 2.5 kg compared to the standard one.
The Ducati Multistrada V4 RS is produced in a numbered series. The number is shown on a black anodised aluminium plate, embellished with the Italian flag, applied to the triple clamp.

Superbike engine
The Multistrada V4 RS is the only one in the family to adopt the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale engine. To combine the smoothness and regularity typical of the Multistrada with the personality and sporty characteristics of the Panigale and the Streetfighter, Ducati has intervened on the V4 obtaining a fluid and regular power delivery curve at low revs and at the same time, thanks to desmodromic distribution, exciting near the limiter. A personality that is also expressed thanks to the exhaust tone, which is deep at low levels and exhilarating like on Superbikes during acceleration at high rpm.

These objectives were achieved by adopting the air filter from the Panigale V4 R, which is more permeable and sportier, and an exhaust system with Akrapovič silencer developed specifically for the Multistrada V4 RS.

In this configuration, Euro 5+ homologated, the Desmosedici Stradale engine develops a maximum power of 180 hp, with limiter at 13,500 rpm. This value was chosen to guarantee sporting performance while maintaining the balance that has always distinguished the Multistrada V4 since its first version.

To make the most of the performance of the road Desmosedici, sportier and characterised by greater acceleration, the final ratio has been shortened while keeping the gear ratios unchanged.

Finally, as on the Panigale V4 SP2 and Streetfighter V4 SP2, the Multistrada V4 RS also features a STM-EVO SBK dry clutch made from billet aluminium, with a specific configuration of springs and slipper ramps. This component, which smooths out riding during braking and engagement phases, also contributes to enriching the exhaust sound with its typical metallic timbre when the clutch is disengaged.

Among the benefits of the dry clutch, we highlight the possibility of increasing performance by using Ducati Corse Performance Powered by Shell Advance oil, the result of the collaboration between Ducati Corse and Shell in Superbike and MotoGP.

To improve the thermal comfort of the engine, the Desmosedici Stradale has been designed to deactivate the rear bank when the bike is stationary, in neutral and with the engine temperature above 70°. Again to offer greater comfort, on the coldest days the upwashes, the ducts that channel fresh air to the rider’s legs, can be closed.

The maintenance interval for checking valve clearance on the Multistrada V4 RS is every 30,000 km.Electronics
The Multistrada V4 RS is equipped with the advanced and sophisticated electronic package of the Multistrada V4 S, which includes, among other features, standard radar technology on both the front and rear, which enables the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) functionality and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).

The electronic equipment of the Multistrada V4 RS, thanks to the information obtained from the Bosch inertial platform, is made up of 4 Power Modes (Full, High, Medium, Low), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up&Down.
All these systems have been calibrated for the characteristics and intended use of the model and integrated into four Riding Modes, namely Race, Sport, Touring, Urban.

On the V4 RS, the Full Power Mode (associated by default with the Race Riding Mode, characterised by a chequered flag above the name) is introduced for the first time in the Multistrada family; this delivers maximum power in all gears, with a prompt response from the throttle. The other Power Modes have been calibrated for use on the Multistrada V4. In particular:

  • High (associated by default with Sport Riding Mode) offers maximum power in 4th, 5th and 6th gear with a slight reduction in torque in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with prompt throttle response.
  • Medium (associated by default with Touring Riding Mode) also offers maximum power in 4th, 5th and 6th gear, with a slight reduction in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but with a sweeter throttle response.
  • Low (default in Urban Riding Mode) with power reduced to 84 kW (114 hp) and a smooth throttle response.

The Multistrada V4 RS is also equipped with EBC (Engine Brake Control) adjustable on three levels, which allows the rider to customize the engine braking depending on riding style and context.

The greater sportiness of the electronic package of the V4 RS is highlighted by the new graphics of the dashboard, which presents a control panel on the main screen with functionality similar to the Infomode Track of the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4. This drop-down menu displays the levels set for DTC, ABS and DWC in the selected riding mode. Furthermore, the intervention of Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control is highlighted by a flashing of the corresponding drop-down element and the lighting of the upper right corner of the dashboard.

The TFT dashboard with 6.5″ screen, characterised on the Multistrada V4 RS by dedicated graphics, enables you to view the map navigator thanks to Ducati Connect, which allows you to mirror your mobile device. Precisely to support this functionality, the smartphone compartment has forced ventilation, to cool the phone during intensive use of the navigation functions and while charging.Chassis and ergonomics
The chassis of the Multistrada V4 RS is developed around the 17″ front wheel, which ensures great precision and reactivity in sporty riding. This choice led to the choice of a monocoque aluminium frame different from the Multistrada V4 S and Rally to obtain a different inclination of the steering head (25.75° compared to 24.5°) defining the trail and wheelbase values in function of the greater sportiness of the bike, similar to what has already been done on the V4 Pikes Peak.

The Marchesini forged aluminium wheels, 2.7 kg lighter than those of the V4 S, make the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle more effective. Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres, in the 120/70 front and 190/55 rear sizes, offer excellent grip during acceleration and a strong sensation of contact with the ground in the centre of the curve.

The choice of Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspensions goes in the direction of guaranteeing the best performance in sporting use thanks to the use of an “event based” system, as on the Panigale V4 S and Streetfighter V4 S, which self-adjusts based on individual riding style. The system, already used on the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak, has been recalibrated to obtain the best balance between comfort in relaxed riding and support in sporty riding.

In particular, in the Touring and Sport Riding Modes the calibrations of the dynamic system have been modified to improve comfort during relaxed riding and at the same time support when having fun on mixed mountain terrain. Furthermore, to improve riding dynamics even at full load, hydraulic braking has been increased when the rider selects higher damping levels in the various Riding Modes, in the various Load Modes with luggage and passenger.

The braking system derives directly from that of the Panigale V4. At the front, the system includes 330 mm diameter discs and Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers, similar to the Multistrada V4 S, to which are added the pads of the Panigale V4. At the rear the system includes a single 265 mm diameter disc on which a Brembo floating caliper works. The control, with regressive kinematics, has a smaller pumping element, thus improving power and modulation. The system is managed by the Bosch-Brembo 10.3ME Cornering ABS system.

In addition to the carbon fibre and titanium elements, a small battery has been adopted to further reduce weight. In this way, 3 kg are saved compared to the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.

The new V4 RS offers sportier ergonomics than the Multistrada V4, with higher and further back footrests to increase the maximum lean angle. The handlebar, rigidly fixed to the plate to improve the riding feeling, is lower, narrower and has a less accentuated curvature. The new, softer grips have a sportier design.

This ergonomic combination translates into a better feeling in sporty riding, while maintaining a good level of comfort at the same time. Comfort has in fact been the subject of great attention, to maintain the best synthesis between sport and tourism of the Multistrada V4 RS.Accessories
The Ducati Performance catalogue offers various accessories to enhance the characteristics of the motorbike and make it unique from an aesthetic point of view. Motorcyclists who want to increase the versatility of the Multistrada V4 RS will find various luggage options, from plastic or aluminium side cases to tank and passenger seat bags and various oversized windshields.

To emphasise its sporting personality, the catalogue also offers billet aluminium parts such as levers, footrests, brake and clutch reservoirs or fuel tank and oil filler caps. There are also many carbon fibre details to lighten and make the image of the Multistrada V4 RS even more aggressive.

Colours and availability
The motorcycle will be available in dealerships in the Ducati network starting from January 2024 in a single version, which includes front and rear radar as standard in the Iceberg White livery.

As on all models of the Multistrada family, on the Multistrada V4 RS Ducati also offers the exclusive “4Ever Multistrada” warranty, valid for 4 years with unlimited mileage, guaranteed by the entire network of dealers of the Bologna-based company on European territory.

2024 Honda SH125i

The SH125i is of Europe’s most popular scooters for many reasons: its rich specification includes a four-valve eSP+ engine with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Idling Stop, sleek signature SH style with flat floor design, LCD dash, full LED lighting, 28L storage space, USB Type-C socket and Smart Key operation.

For 24YM the new SH125i Vetro headlines the broad line-up, which also includes a new colour and five new colour combinations to maintain its premium desirability.

  1. Introduction

Part of the million plus selling SH family whose founding member, the SH50, went on sale in 1984, the four-stroke Honda SH125i first hit the market in Europe in 2001. Ever since, it has quietly and consistently gone about its mission to provide stylish, fun and fuss-free transport – becoming one of the continent’s favourites along the way.

That first machine laid down the blueprint for success: a frugal-natured but lively engine tied to nimble, sure-footed handling underpinned by the stability that large diameter 16-inch wheels deliver – all wrapped in elegant, premium styling.

Fuel injected with PGM-FI in 05YM, over the last 19 years the SH125i has come to represent the ultimate in urban transport with the perfect balance of style, reliability, economy and downright usability.

And of course, its story is one of constant, careful evolution reflecting the developing needs and expectations of owners, and Honda’s desire to keep on giving them an even better version of their SH. In 13YM it gained Honda’s eSP (enhanced Smart Power) low friction engine and Idling Stop, boosting both power delivery and fuel economy. And in 17YM the look was refreshed with more chiselled design lines, and LED front/rear lights and Honda Smart Key added.

In 20YM the SH125i – manufactured at Honda’s Atessa factory in Italy – was, effectively, a brand-new scooter. Standing squarely on the shoulders of its forbears it instantly became faster, even more stylish, comfortable, convenient to use and as cost-effective as ever to own and run.

24YM sees the arrival of a new colour, five new colour combinations and a very special celebration of Honda Italia Industriale that adds extra desirability to one of Europe’s favourites two wheelers.

  1. Model Overview

The SH125i is built for life and features plenty of ever-useful storage space plus a USB socket. The rear suspension geometry is optimised for comfort, 16-inch wheels roll smoothly, while stylishly simple bodywork and front signature define and reinforce the SH125i’s presence. Full LED lighting and crisp LCD dash are premium finishing touches.

The EURO5+ compliant four-valve eSP+ engine produces 9.6kW @ 8,250rpm power, 12Nm torque, returns 45.7km/l (WMTC mode) and features Idling Stop technology. HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) to manage rear wheel traction is also a bonus for an owner’s peace of mind.

Five configurations are on offer:

Standard SH125i without accessories

SH125i with Smart top box

SH125i with Smart top box, knuckle guards and windscreen

SH125i with standard top box

SH125i with standard top box, knuckle guards and windscreen.

For 24YM SH125i will be available in the following colour options:

Pearl Falcon Gray with NEW blacked out wheels and details

Matt Pearl Cool White with NEW blacked out wheels and details

Matt Pearl Pacific Blue with NEW blacked out wheels and details

Pearl Nightstar Black with NEW blacked out wheels and details

Two sportier colour schemes are also available with additional black detailing around the controls and front and lower fairings. Red stitching on the seat and bold new graphic, add further contemporary appeal:

**NEW** Matt Pearl Cool White – with red SH logo on side fairing and large white Honda logo on a black lower fairing

Matt Coal Black Metallic – with red SH logo on side fairing and a NEW large red Honda logo on the lower fairing

The new 24YM SH125i Vetro is available in the following colour option:

Vetro Green with Shadow Black lower fairing – with silver SH logo on the side fairing and a large white Honda logo on the lower fairing

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Stylish, SH signature flat-floored design
  • 28L total under seat storage capacity, with USB socket
  • All lighting LED with LCD instrument dash
  • New range-headlining SH125i Vetro

Smooth and solid describe the sleek, unified body style, with the tension between the two reinforcing a premium presence. And the SH125i’s ‘face’ sets it apart – the fairing-mounted headlight (almost an LED ‘H’) features a central main beam splitting dual dip beams, while position lights reside above on the handlebar nacelle.

The elegant looks are matched to effortless practicality. The overall compactness, flat floor and upright riding position (essential for ease-of-use and visibility in busy town traffic) are conspicuous hallmarks of the SH look. Less obvious is the 28L of underseat storage, capable of holding a full-face helmet. A USB charging point is also included.

The flat seat provides plenty of support and room to move around and its carefully contoured shape, plus slim floor width, makes reaching the ground easy. As many journeys around town involve a pillion there’s plenty of room for two; retractable aluminium pillion footplates tuck away when not in use and provide a stable platform – especially under braking – when needed for the passenger.

The rear light is LED with a chrome surround, matching the front, and the LCD dash presents all warning lights – including Smart Key, HSTC/ABS and Idling Stop operation – neatly around a central digital speedo/odometer display. All operations on the dash are carried out via A/B buttons on the left handlebar.

The SH125i Smart Key resides in the rider’s pocket and does away with the need to constantly insert and withdraw a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. It has two switches: the smart function on/off and ‘answer back’, which flickers the indicators for identification from a distance.

With the Smart Key present one push of the machine-mounted main switch powers it up and makes it possible to turn, giving the rider control of the ignition and steering lock, and, via two rocker switches, the fuel cap and seat. It also illuminates when pushed – or from the answer back function of the Smart Key – with a blue light.

For 24YM the SH125i Vetro (meaning ‘glass’ in Italian) is a celebration of the craftmanship and technical skills of the team at Honda Italia Industriale’s factory in Atessa on Italy’s Adriatic coast, and a model unique in the marketplace.

Production of the Vetro’s distinctive semi-transparent unpainted green fairing panels produces 9.5% less COemissions over a year of production compared to those of the ‘standard’ colouring schemes – a new way of reducing environmental impact.

The SH125i Vetro also features a black front mudguard and black lower fairing with a bold white Honda logo. A silver SH logo also appears on the upper fairing.

3.2 Engine

  • Four-valve eSP+ engine produces 9.6kW peak power and 12Nm torque
  • First Honda engine to meet stronger EURO5+ emissions regulations
  • Also employs Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
  • Idling Stop and low-friction technologies

The SH125i’s lively 125cc liquid-cooled four-valve enhanced Smart Power+ (eSP+) engine produces peak power of 9.6kW @ 8,250rpm with 12Nm torque delivered at 6,500rpm, and is the first Honda engine to meeting the stronger EURO5+ emissions regulations.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is technology to boost rider confidence in wet conditions and works in the background to deftly manage rear wheel traction. An indicator flashes on the dash when HSTC is actively reducing wheelspin and the system can also be turned off completely.

Bore is set at 53.5mm with stroke of 55.5mm; compression ratio is 11.5:1. The compact engine is a masterpiece of mass centralisation. The radiator, rather than being mounted at the front of the machine is built into the engine itself for a simple, light layout. Its highly efficient core allows for the use of an ultra-compact, light cooling fan.

Low-friction technologies are employed internally; the cylinder sleeve uses minute splines on its outer surface to keep oil consumption low and improve cooling and the cylinder is offset to keep frictional losses to a minimum. Rolling resistance within the transmission is kept in check by the use of three main bearings, all designed to deal with the loads they each individually receive. The result of all these measures is an outstanding fuel economy (without Idling Stop activated) of 45.7km/l (WMTC mode).

Another key fuel-saving technology incorporated into the SH125i is Idling Stop. It’s operated via a switch on the right handlebar and, when enabled, automatically stops the engine running after three seconds at idle and re-starts it instantly when the throttle grip is twisted.

It is seamless in use, thanks to a swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake, and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance due to compression. The ACG starter also generates electricity, doing away with a conventional system’s motor and gears.

3.3 Chassis

  • High-tensile tubular steel underbone frame
  • Optimised rear suspension geometry ride comfort
  • 16-inch front and rear wheels deliver sure-footed confidence

The high-tensile tubular steel underbone frame sites the 7L fuel tank under the floor beneath the rider’s feet, which frees up 10L additional space. Wheelbase is set at 1,350mm with rake and trail of 26°/85.2mm and turning radius of 2.05m. Seat height is 799mm with wet weight of 133.9kg.

For ride comfort the engine hanger link angle and rear suspension angle are optimised to reduce rotational load toward the engine link, making for supple bump absorption and control.

Lightweight 16-inch aluminium die-cast wheels have always been key to the SH125i’s sure-footed handling ability and stability on a variety of road surfaces and mount Michelin City Grip tubeless tyres sized 100/80-16 front and 120/80-16 rear.

The rear shocks feature 5-step preload adjustment with 83mm axle travel. The 33mm telescopic front forks, with 89mm of travel, ensure excellent road holding and are tuned to give a compliant, yet controlled ride. ABS is fitted as standard; both front and rear discs have a 240mm diameter; the front caliper is a two-piston design, the rear a single.

2024 Honda SH Mode 125

Honda’s fashionable SH variant received a full refresh in 2021. Updates included a LED headlight, next-generation enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (eSAF), enhanced Smart Power Plus (eSP+) four-valve, water-cooled SOHC engine, and wheels fitted with fuel-saving tyres. Included in the specification is a glovebox with USB Type-A socket, generous under-seat storage and Smart Key operation.

For 24YM the SH Mode receives two new contemporary colours to maintain its appeal and desirability with European riders.

  1. Introduction

Since the arrival of the original SH50 in 1984, the enduring popularity of Honda’s SH scooter series has earned it the status of a brand within a brand, relied upon by people all over Europe as an integral part of their daily lives.

During that time, the SH family has constantly grown and evolved, with sales totalling over 1.2 million units produced since its introduction thanks to excellent engine performance and fuel economy plus nimble, sure-footed handling and reassuring stability – from 16-inch wheels – on rougher roads.

On sale in Europe since summer 2014, the SH Mode 125 has broadened the appeal of the SH family to a younger audience. It’s proved a smart scooter in every sense, very much of the moment, with its deft combination of on-trend style, confidence-inspiring performance and low running costs.

In 2021, a brand-new SH Mode 125 was unveiled. Designed to reflect the evolving aspirations, desires and expectations of an ever-growing audience of young Honda riders, for 24YM the SH Mode 125 benefits from two new contemporary colours for heightened visual appeal.

  1. Model Overview

A chic refresh enhanced the SH Mode 125 in 21YM, led by an attractive LED headlight for its distinctive face. Underneath, the SH Mode 125 benefitted from a new, lighter steel ‘enhanced Smart Architecture Frame’ (eSAF) and more powerful (and fuel efficient) enhanced Smart Power Plus (eSP+) four-valve, water-cooled SOHC engine and new aluminium wheels wearing fuel-saving tyres.

Practically was also improved. Storage space was increased under the seat and a handy glovebox was installed on the left inner fairing, with a USB Type-A socket for charging duties. Smart Key operation of ignition and seat – from the rider’s pocket – was the premium finishing touch.

For 24YM, the SH Mode 125 receives two new contemporary colours that join the classic Pearl Jasmine White and Mat Techno Silver that carry over from last year.

The 24YM SH Mode 125 will be available in the following colour options:

**NEW** Candy Luster Red

**NEW** Matt Galaxy Black Metallic

Pearl Jasmine White

Mat Techno Silver Metallic

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Wide, flat floor for ample leg room
  • LED headlight for sharp front look
  • Generous storage under the seat, USB charging socket in the glovebox
  • Smart Key operation of ignition and seat as standard

The elegant 2021 update added more appeal and desirability to the SH Mode 125, with a sharp LED headlight elevating road presence. Practical enhancements were not overlooked, with an extended flat floor giving more generous leg room.

The 765mm seat height and other specifications are unchanged for 24YM. The glovebox on the left houses a USB Type-A socket for charging a smartphone. The 18.5L under-seat storage compartment includes luggage hooks for load security.

The SH Mode 125 uses a Smart Key. Kept in a pocket, it controls both ignition and seat locking, adding genuine convenience in support of busy urban life.

The meter panel is laid out so all the most important information is instantly easy to read. A large, dial-style central speedometer is surrounded by Idling Stop indicator and turn signal warning light. A fuel gauge is located to the centre and the odometer, trip meter and clock are housed in a central LCD display; buttons control information displayed.

The main stand is carefully sited at just the right contact area on the ground for the rider’s foot, making it easier to use. In addition, a side stand is standard equipment. Passengers are not forgotten, either. They have a comfortable space plus folding footplates and grab rails integrated into the large die-cast aluminium rack.

3.2 Engine

  • eSP+ four-valve, water-cooled SOHC engine
  • The engine features Idling Stop
  • 50km/l fuel efficiency

The SH Mode 125’s enhanced Smart Power Plus (eSP+) four-valve, water-cooled SOHC engine delivers 8.4kW@ 8,500rpm, with peak torque of 12.1Nm @ 5,000rpm. Bore and stroke is set at 53.5 x 55.5mm, with compression ratio of 11.5:1.

The flat linear torque curve from low rpm is perfect for urban environments and riders with diverse riding experience. And, thanks to the engine’s fuel efficiency of approximately 50km/l, (WMTC mode) and 5.5L tank, range is approximately 275km between fill ups.

Honda’s eSP low-friction technologies are found throughout the engine; clever packaging of items like the oil pump (which is built in to the crankcase) help to further ensure efficiency. A compact combustion chamber and PGM-FI fuel injection optimises burning velocity and cooling performance.

An offset cylinder reduces friction caused by contact between piston and bore, efficiently transmitting combustion energy to the crankshaft. A ‘spiny’ cast-iron sleeve – with tiny surface extensions – keeps in check any distortion of the inner bore diameter. This design lowers tension in the piston ring, reducing friction.

A high-efficiency radiator – integrated into the exterior of the right-side crankcase – employs a small, light fan reducing frictional losses and lowering drag. Rolling resistance within the transmission unit is reduced by the use of three low-friction main bearings, all designed to deal with the loads they individually receive. The drive pulley features a fin design that lowers air resistance and the follower pulley reduces pressure on the drive belt, cutting transmission losses.

The electronically controlled, brushless ACG starter is an integrated component mounted directly on the end of the crankshaft, serving as starter motor and alternator. It spins the engine directly, eliminating any noise from gear engagement or meshing.

Idling Stop automatically stops the engine running after three seconds at idle when the scooter is stationary and the brakes applied, and re-starts it instantly when the throttle grip is twisted. It’s seamless in use thanks to ACG and the swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake, and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance from compression. It has the functionality to ‘read’ the battery charge and turns itself off to avoid excessive drain.

3.3 Chassis

  • Light enhanced Smart Architecture Frame
  • Tyres reduce rolling resistance and improve fuel efficiency

The SH Mode 125 features an enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (eSAF) Constructed from lightweight pressed steel it offers good handling feel, with enhanced stability, ride comfort and durability.

Rake is set at 26° 30’, with 69.5mm trail and wheelbase of 1,305mm (from 27°, 68mm and 1305mm). Overall dimensions are compact: (LxWxH) of 1950mm x 670mm x 1100mm, with a ground clearance, at 150mm. Combined with a kerb weight of 118kg, the overall result is an outstandingly agile and user-friendly city scooter.

The telescopic forks feature 89mm travel, the rear suspension – with 5-stage adjustable spring preload – has 75mm travel. The 16-inch cast-aluminium front wheel mounts an 80/90-16 tyre, the 14-inch rear wheel a 100/90-14; with tyres designed to reduce drag and improve overall fuel efficiency.

Up front the 220mm hydraulic disc brake links to a rear 130mm drum via CBS, ensuring smooth and evenly distributed braking force at all times, including hard and emergency stops.

  1. Accessories

A range of genuine Honda accessories are available for the SH Mode 125 including:

A TIMELINE OF THE ULTIMATE CAFÉ RACER
The winning Sixties
While its Bonneville roots can be traced back to the Fifties, the Thruxton was born as a limited-edition racer in 1964. An instant success in endurance races, the exclusive Thruxton aptly earning its biggest accolade by claiming all three podium places at the 1969 Thruxton 500-mile race. With success at the Isle of Man TT following shortly after, the Thruxton became the first production motorcycle to lap the Mountain Course at over 100mph. The Thruxton’s uncompromised racing style, handling and performance was a must for those protagonists of the traffic light Grand Prix, the world over.

The thoroughly modern Thruxton
In 2016 the first 1200cc Thruxton, the R, hit the showrooms, creating a new performance benchmark in this fast-growing category. Three years on, the Thruxton RS took the genre into new territories. Increased power, improved handling and a specification like no other ensured the 2019 Thruxton RS had peerless performance and the looks to match.

The final evolution
The absolute pinnacle of Thruxton development, celebrated with the exclusive and exquisite Final Edition. Hand-painted perfection, and available for just one last production run.

“The Rolls-Royce” of the motorcycle world, heads to auction

The 1935 Brough Superior 11-50, having been owned by a single owner for 57 years, is set to sell for an estimated price of £60,000- £70,000 at H&H Classics’ auction on 15 November at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.

George Brough, a racer, designer, and showman who crafted the 1935 Brough Superior 11-50, secured permission from the distinguished automobile manufacturer to describe his machines as ‘The Rolls-Royce of motorcycles’. He earned this distinction by assembling each machine twice, rigorously testing them, and personally certifying them. Later, in the mid-90s, the celebrated craftsman Robin James undertook its restoration.

This 1935 Brough Superior 11-50 motorcycle is a rare find, with only 47 produced that year. It has a unique history, having served with the Nottinghamshire Police Force and bearing the registration BAU 9 when dispatched from the Haydn Street factory in 1935. After its police duty, it made its way to the North Cumbrian fells, where it spent time sheep herding on a farm with its owner, Mr. Bird, before being bought by its current keeper in 1966 for the sum of £22 and 10 shillings.

Ian Cunningham, motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, added: “This 1935 Brough Superior 11-50 stands out as exceptionally distinctive. The seller has cherished it for over half a century, using it on many events including the Alpine and Norwegian Rallies. The restoration work carried out by Robin James in the mid-1990s has preserved its authentic character while providing a great riding experience. Additionally, its historical connection with the Nottinghamshire Police Force adds to its unique appeal within the community.”

Interested buyers have the option to engage in the auction through in-person attendance at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull on 15 November or via remote means using online or telephone bidding.

New Yamaha Ténéré 700 Extreme

Yamaha strengthens its class leading Adventure line-up

Since its launch in 2019, the Ténéré 700 has become one of Yamaha’s best-selling models. Powered by Yamaha’s outstanding 690cc high torque CP2 engine and equipped with a versatile chassis with premium suspension systems, the Ténéré is the most successful bike in its category.

Yamaha is always looking to offer customers a diverse choice to match their different lifestyles and needs. So for 2024, the brand’s class-leading Adventure range will be further strengthened and diversified with the introduction of the Ténéré 700 Extreme.

Ténéré 700 Extreme– Hardcore off road performer
The bike’s name says it all – this is a hardcore off road performer with extended long travel suspension and a wide range of special chassis components designed to further enhance its go-anywhere essence.

For class-leading off-road handling with lightweight agility on rough terrain, the Ténéré 700 Extreme features premium fully adjustable KYB suspension systems with 20mm extra travel at the front and rear (compared to the Ténéré 700). For super-smooth front suspension action, the forks are treated with a durable Kashima coating that helps to eliminate stiction at lower speeds – and the gold coloured fork inner tube finish also underlines the bike’s overall feeling of quality.

The fully adjustable KYB suspension can be set up to work effectively with a variety of rider physiques and different riding styles, making the Ténéré 700 Extreme a serious hardcore performer. Aimed at riders with motocross or enduro experience who want added performance for the most challenging off-road terrain, this latest Ténéré adds an exciting new dimension to the Adventure category.

Factory-equipped with lightweight titanium footrests, as well as an aluminium radiator protector and chain guide, this high specification Adventure bike is ready to prove itself in a wide range of extreme conditions. Its two-piece front fender assembly consists of a colour matched high level enduro-style fender and a separate lower section to protect from dirt and debris – while a flatter one-piece rally seat enables quick and easy bodyweight shifting.

Its vertical 5-inch TFT meter features 3 separate themes, including a Rally Raid roadbook-style display for effective navigation in the back of beyond. Other exclusive features on this exciting new addition to the Ténéré family include lightweight competition type titanium footrests with 35% greater surface area for reduced pressure on boot soles – and to handle the most inhospitable surfaces the bike’s ground clearance is increased to 260mm.

Race-proven performance and class-leading durability
The Ténéré’s outstanding off road performance has been highlighted by Yamaha factory riders Alessandro Botturi and Pol Tarrés who have victoriously ridden their bikes in the world’s toughest Rally Races.

After creating history at the TransAnatolia rally raid with an epic 1-2 podium, Tarrés and Botturi will debut the 2024 Ténéré 700 Extreme at the last stage of the Italian Motorally Raid TT championship taking place in Olbia from 20th October.

With its premium long travel KYB suspension, high quality chassis components and upgraded TFT meter, the Ténéré 700 Extreme is a remarkably capable machine that can take adventurous riders into the wilderness and further to the Next Horizon.

New LS2 Flip-Front Helmet

Major update for LS2’s best-selling, dual-homologated flip-front helmet.

LS2’s best-selling flip-front helmet gets a complete makeover for 2023/2024, bringing serious specification and everyday-practicality with serious value for money.

Updates start with the Strobe II’s redesigned outer shell, which is now made from KPA (Kinetic Polymer Alloy), a blend of polycarbonate and space age thermoplastics specifically formulated by LS2. KPA Offers ultra-light weight and high penetration resistance, but with enough flexibility for energy dispersion. This special formula meets ECE 22.06 requirements and the whole helmet weighs just 1550 grams.

Unlike many modular helmets, the Strobe II is Dual Homologated, so is legal to use in both the open and closed positions. It transforms from a full to an open face in seconds, and the chin bar and visor move as one, for quick and easy operation.

The visor is scratch and UV-resistant, comes Pinlock-ready, and features an intuitive release mechanism, for fuss-free removal and refitting. Behind it is a handy drop-down sun visor, to bring instant relief from the sun’s glare.

Ventilation ports front and back, and internal channelling, provide a cooling flow of air when the temperature rises. The breathable and hypoallergenic comfort liner can be removed and washed. Neat touches like a Chin Curtain, to help reduce wind noise; the built-in breath guard; and the quick release Micrometric Metal Buckle fastener, add to the day-to-day usability.

Like all LS2 helmets, the Strobe II’s shell is designed with a ‘long-oval’ shape to follow the natural contour of the head. Combined with Laser-Cut Foam inserts, it gives a snug and reassuring fit. There are three outer shell sizes, for the closest fit in each of the seven sizes, and to keep weight to minimum.

The LS2 Strobe II is available in sizes XS to 3XL, in four solid colour options priced at just £99.99, and four graphic schemes costing only £119.99.

Pricing and availability of 25th anniversary Hayabusa announced

Suzuki has announced that the special edition Hayabusa, launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the legendary hyperbike, is available in dealerships now with an OTR price of £18,599, and will also be available on 2.9% APR finance on PCP or HP.

The anniversary edition, launched to celebrate a quarter of a century of an icon after the first generation Hayabusa changed the game in 1999, comes in a head-turning glass blaze orange and glass sparkle black, and with a list of standout features including: special anniversary logo on the fuel tank and laser-etched into the twin exhaust mufflers, gold-anodised brake disc carriers and drive chain adjusters, raised Suzuki lettering on the fuel tank, a standard-fit single seat cowl in addition to the pillion pad, and new gloss black trim.

Underneath, it packs the same torque-rich, 1340cc inline four-cylinder engine as the current third generation Hayabusa, which produces more cumulative power and torque than any of its predecessors. Thanks to a heavily redesigned engine for 2021 – with new pistons, conrods, crankshaft and camshaft – the latest iteration of the Hayabusa is the fastest-launching one yet.

Helping that cause is a comprehensive suite of electronics that features three launch control settings, 10 traction control modes, and three power modes, plus lean-angle sensitive ABS, three levels of engine brake settings, cruise control, hill hold, low RPM assist, and easy-start.

Launched in 1999 the original Hayabusa stunned the motorcycling world and gave birth to the hypersport category. Taking its name from the Japanese for Peregrine falcon – famed for feasting on blackbirds – it delivered unrivalled performance, was immediately recognisable thanks to its now-iconic silhouette, and went on to develop cult status.

The launch of the second generation Hayabusa in 2008 boosted capacity and power, while a mid-term update in 2013 added Brembo monobloc calipers and ABS. The third generation was launched in 2021, after 200,000 units had been sold worldwide.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, said, “There aren’t many – if any – motorcycles that can boast the same sort of history, legacy, and standing that the Hayabusa does. It’s not hyperbole to call it an icon, or game-changing, or legendary; it is all of those things. It really is in a class of one, and moving into its 25th year, customers can own a piece of history with this special edition, and to make it even easier to do so we’re pleased to be able to launch it with a low finance rate of 2.9% on PCP or HP.”

BMW Motorrad presents Vario luggage system for the BMW R 1300 GS

Innovative luggage solution with electrification and infinitely variable volume adjustment.

The BMW GS with its original flat-twin boxer engine has stood for universal motorcycling pleasure for more than 40 years. Be it for touring or travelling long distances, dynamic country road riding or for travelling off the beaten track – a BMW GS and above all the new BMW R 1300 GS is always the perfect companion. Even when it comes to exploring the remotest corners of our planet.

For extended tours and long-distance trips with plenty of luggage, BMW Motorrad now offers an advanced and innovative Vario luggage system for the new R 1300 GS, consisting of two Vario cases and a Vario top case.

The design of the Vario cases and the Vario top case has been completely revised. Anodised aluminium trims on the outside of the cases as well as on the outside and lid of the Vario top case not only offer robust reliability, but together with the black plastic housing also blend into the design of the new BMW R 1300 GS harmoniously.

Vario case and Vario top case with integrated charging option and lighting as well as integration into the radio central locking system for maximum comfort.
In terms of technology and functionality, the new Vario luggage system sets the standard once again. Another highlight is the luggage system is now electrified. From now on, electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets or laptops can be charged in the luggage compartment of the left Vario case. There is a USB-A charging port there that enables charging via the on-board network with a charging power of up to 15 W (5 V / 3 A). Another USB-A port is located in the top case. In addition, the integrated lighting in the Vario cases and in the top case makes loading and unloading at night very comfortable.

Another new feature is that the Vario cases and the top case are integrated into the standard radio central locking system of the new BMW R 1300 GS. In addition, the Vario luggage system also includes mechanical keys with which the cases can be opened and closed. For example, if the radio key is lost.

Infinitely variable volume adjustment to make the best used of all storage space.
The volume adjustment of the Vario cases and Vario top case can now be infinitely adjusted by handwheel (previously two steps) to make the new BMW R 1300 GS only as wide or as high as necessary in view of the required storage space.

In total, the new Vario luggage system offers up to 97 litres of capacity. Expanding the Vario cases increases the luggage compartment volume from approx. 49 l by a maximum of approx. 5.5 l each. The storage volume of the top case increases from 28 to a maximum of 36 litres.

Further luggage can be stored on the cases and top case using practical lashing eyes.
The Vario luggage system can for example store the BMW Helmet 7 (Vario case left and Vario top case) and the BMW Helmet GS fits in the Vario top case. The maximum load per Vario case is 10 kg per side, the maximum load of the Vario top case is set at 6 kg. A total load of 26 kg can therefore be loaded.

In addition, you can also stow luggage on the outside of the Vario cases and on the Vario top case. Up to 1 kg can be attached to the side of each Vario case and a further 2 kg to the Vario top case. Tension straps are recommended for securing additional luggage. Lashing eyes are fitted on the lid of the Vario top case for this purpose. There are also lashing eyes on the sides of the Vario cases.

Practical Vario inner bags for Vario cases and Vario top cases available as original BMW Motorrad accessories.
As part of the original BMW Motorrad accessories range, additional Vario inner bags are available for the Vario luggage system of the new BMW R 1300 GS, both for the Vario cases and for the Vario top case. The volumes of the inner cases are:

– Left case: 21.5 – 28.9 l.

– Right case: 21.3 – 26.8 l.

– Top case: 24.8 – 33 l.

For each Vario case there is a large main inner bag and a smaller additional bag that can be placed loosely on top of the main bag in the case. The additional bag can also be used as a small handbag, for example for stopping by at a café. The main bag for the left
Vario case has a padded storage compartment for electronic devices with cable outlet to the USB charging port. The Vario top case inner bag consists of a large main bag with up to 33 l of volume.

The maximum permissible speed for riding with the Vario luggage system is 180 km/h. The new Vario luggage system is not suitable for previous models such as the BMW R 1250 GS and others.
