Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail

An off-road soul, pure Leoncino style. Benelli introduces Leoncino 800 Trail, a motorcycle with a distinct off-road spirit, brought out by the double exhaust in a raised position and the 19” front wheel. This model extends the range of the Pesaro-based manufacturer and is designed to bring out the authenticity of the Leoncino line concept. This “modern-classic” two-wheeler is sporty and dynamic, an all-round evolution that shares state-of-the-art technical and style features with its road sister, the 800.

The 754-cc twin-cylinder, four-stroke engine is liquid cooled and now is Euro 5 approved. It unleashes 76,2 HP (56 kW) at 8500 rpm and a torque of 67 Nm (6.8 kgm) at 6500 rpm, in order to ensure pure fun and performance off-road. It features double overhead camshaft timing with 4 valves per cylinder and the double throttle body of 43 mm diameter. The wet anti-slip clutch and 6-speed gearbox are also worth mentioning.

The chassis was revised in order to better tackle off-road terrains, where uneven surfaces are the currency. The frame is a tubular trellis with steel plates, the same as the road version, which ensures easy and nimble handling on the road. In turn, the suspensions have been upgraded: the Marzocchi up-side down front fork with 50 diameter legs, with adjustable rebound, compression and pre-load, has longer travel, from 140 mm in the road model to 148 mm in the Trail one. The same upgrade took place on the rear, with a single, central swinging arm with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping, whose travel was also increased (140 mm). As consequence, the seat was raised from 805 mm in the road model to 834 mm in the Trail one.

The knobby tires, 120/70 19” in the front and 170/60 17” in the rear, complete the set of technical upgrades. The Brembo braking system, the same as Leoncino 800, is exceptionally safe thanks to the double 320 mm diameter semi-floating disc on the front and four-piston radialmount mono-block calliper, and a 260 mm diameter disc on the back with a doublepiston calliper.

Leoncino 800 Trail stands out for ambitious and sophisticated style elements in a perfect off-road fashion, such as the high headlight fairing located right above the full-led front light, featuring the well-known Leoncino series arc. The new double exhaust in higher position defined the bike silhouette and gives it a rally spirit. The exhaust was developed specifically for the Trail version, as well as the number plate holder and the heat shield on the side, which also bring out the off-road inclination of this model. The muscle, carved-out lines of the steel tank are in common with Leoncino 800; designed to bring out the power and dynamic appeal of this motorcycle, it features the distinctive arc, this time matched with two bumpers on the tank guard. Moreover, the Trail version features latest-technology TFT instruments on a dashboard that stands out for its modern and authentic design. The seat is envisioned to always ensure great comfort even on the toughest terrains. Underneath the seat, consistently with Leoncino 800, there is an aluminium panel thought to display the Leoncino logo. On the mudguard, the unmistakable symbol of the range: a Lion.

As for the road version, to expand the offer and ensure greater choice for users who want to have this two-wheeler, for some markets Benelli has decided to add to this model also a new version equipped with suspension system and braking system designed by Benelli, while maintaining style, functionality and performance unchanged.

Leoncino 800 Trail will be available in all Benelli dealerships starting from spring 2022, in grey, brown and green colors. The price of both proposals has not yet been defined.

For some European markets, the 35 kW version is also available.

Benelli Leoncino 800

The unmistakable DNA that distinguishes the modern-classic of the Pesaro company finds its most concrete evolution in the new Leoncino 800.

A two-wheeler with an authentic style, characterized by essentiality and a balanced mix of classic and modern styles, which finds its maximum expression thanks to the new 754cc beating heart, the most advanced in the Benelli range. In Leoncino 800 the shapes become harder and more sculpted, thus enhancing its power and dynamism: in the pure elegance of its lines and in the modernity of its style, this two-wheeler is able to express all its essence and uniqueness, while maintaining what are the elements iconic pieces of the Leoncino range. In fact, even in the 800cc version we find the stylistic element of the arch, which is faithful to both the headlight and the tank, keeping the family feeling unchanged.

The beating heart of Leoncino 800 is the 754cc, liquid cooled, four-stroke, twin cylinder engine; dependable and reactive, now Euro5 approved. It delivers well on the throttle with a power of 76.2 HP (56 kW) at 8500 rpm and a torque of 67 Nm (6.8 kgm) at 6500 rpm. Finally, the double overhead camshaft timing with 4 valves per cylinder, as well as the double throttle body of 43 mm diameter, wet anti-slip clutch and 6-speed gearbox, complete the picture for a safe and state-of-the-art engine transmission assembly.

The frame is a brand new tubular trellis with steel plates, which matches perfectly with the design while ensuring easy and nimble handling on the road regardless of the rider’s skills, without any prejudice to an absolutely fun experience. The care for details and genuine materials are the hallmarks of Leoncino 800. The angled and modern-looking tank is made of steel and spots the Benelli logo, as tradition commands. The Leoncino logo appears under the seat on a sleek aluminium side panel, which flows dynamically from the tank creating a simple, yet sophisticated style element. The headlight, which recall the modern lines of that of Leoncino 250, is full LED with an authentic and sophisticated design, brought out by the arc and Benelli Leoncino logo at the centre. This version features latest-technology TFT instruments on a dashboard that stands out for its modern and authentic design. The seat ensures the utmost comfort for the rider and the passenger alike; moreover, it perfectly matches the overall lines of the bike, much like the modern and balanced exhaust design. The Lion has a special place standing proudly of the front mudguard, like on our historic motorcycles and the rest of the Leoncino range.

The suspensions consist in a front upside-down Marzocchi fork with 50 mm diameter legs, adjustable in rebound, compression and preload, a guarantee of comfort, stability and effectiveness throughout the entire 140 mm travel of the front suspension. On the back there is a swinging arm with central adjustable monoshock in the spring preload and rebound damping. The Brembo braking system is exceptionally safe thanks to the double 320 mm diameter semi-floating disc on the front and four-piston radial-mount mono-block calliper, and a 260 mm diameter disc on the back with a double-piston calliper. The 17” aluminium alloy tubeless spoked rims mount 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 tyres. The tank has a remarkable 15-l capacity and brings out the muscular nature of this bike.

To expand the offer and ensure greater choice for users who want to have this two-wheeler, for some markets Benelli has decided to add to this model also a new version equipped with suspension system and braking system designed by Benelli, while maintaining style, functionality and performance unchanged.

Leoncino 800 will be available in all Benelli dealerships starting from spring 2022, in grey, brown and green colors. The price of both proposals has not yet been defined.

For some European markets, the 35 kW version is also available.

Benelli Leoncino 125

Pure style and fun, concentrated in an easy, accessible and extremely contemporary motorcycle.

This is the concept behind the new Leoncino 125, a motorbike that was created to meet the needs of the latest generations of motorcyclists and fulfil their desire for freedom and independence. A bike that expands the current Benelli Leoncino range and stays faithful to the family’s feeling, able to bring out both its heritage and contemporary character. Leoncino 125 is also a bike designed for those who are new to the motorcycling world, guaranteeing maximum ease of handling and agility on the road and offering an exciting ride from the start, all without extremely low operating costs.

The beating heart of the Leoncino 125 is the new single-cylinder four-stroke liquid cooled 125cc engine, a first for the quarter-litre models currently in the range. The timing features single overhead camshaft with 4 valves per cylinder, electronic injection with 28 mm diameter throttle body, wet clutch and 6-speed gearbox. This new engine has a power output of 12.8 hp (9.4 kW) at 9500 rpm and 10 Nm (1.0 kgm) at 8500 rpm. One of the bike’s strengths is certainly its low consumption of 2.2 litres per 100 km.

Developed for maximum agility and handling on the road, the Leoncino 125 has an excellent chassis. The frame is a traditional steel trellis frame designed to integrate perfectly with the bike’s #design, sharing the style and character of the quarter-litre of the Leoncino range. The tank features a mix of classic and modern lines and balanced surfaces capable of giving the bike a unique, unmistakable look. The all LED headlight is high end, with an elegant, sophisticated #design.

The instrument panel is digital and clearly visible in all conditions. Like the rest of the Leoncino range, the stylised lion proudly stands out on the front mudguard, recalling the history of this model.

The suspensions of the Leoncino 125 consist of an upside-down fork on the front with 35 mm diameter legs, while the back end has a swinging arm with central monoshock and travel of 53 mm. As for the braking system, on the front there is a single 280 mm diameter floating disc with three-piston calliper, and on the back a 220 mm diameter disc with two-piston floating calliper. CBS present. The 17″ aluminium alloy rims mount 110/80-R17 and 130/70-R17 tyres respectively, ensuring maximum road safety.

Leoncino 125 will be available at all #benelli dealers starting from spring 2022 in grey and green.

Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition

A year after its launch on the market, Aprilia RS 660 is already celebrating its first important sports milestone.

The medium-sized Italian sport bike made this achievement in the United States, dominating the 2021 edition of the Twins Cup, the prestigious American championship dedicated to medium engine capacity twin-cylinders within MotoAmerica, the premier motorcycle racing series in the States.

In celebration of this victory, at EICMA 2021, Aprilia introduces a numbered special edition of 1500 units of RS 660, characterised by a brand new stars and stripes livery inspired by the American flag. A colour scheme closely derived from the special graphics on the bike that the Twins Cup champion, Kaleb De Keyrel, rode in the race at Vallelunga for the final round of the Aprilia RS 660 Trophy, where Kaleb had been invited to participate as a reward for his important victory on American soil.

Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition also boasts a standard equipment package that includes some of the racing content from the competition version that proved to be unparalleled in the Twins Cup, taking 10 wins out of the 13 races held.
The sporty personality of Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition is highlighted by the single-seat tail-fairing cover, which eliminates the passenger seat, enhancing the sleek design of the rear. The passenger’s seat comes with the bike, which is still approved for two-up riding.
The oversized top fairing ensures greater protection for the rider against the wind, both on the road and on the track, and it also has the software that lets you set up the quick shift gearbox in upside-down configuration. This means that, depending on your needs, you can configure the gearbox entirely on your own, without replacing any parts on the bike, in street or upside-down version – ideal for the occasional track day.

A badge located on the fuel tank bears the progressive number of the bike and indicates the limited edition of 1500 units.

Aprilia RS 660’s winning streak in MotoAmerica
Just a few months after making its début in the U.S.A. on an American track that is one of the most iconic in the world, the Big Sur circuit in California – ridden by Pikes Peak record holder astride an Aprilia Tuono V4, Rennie Scaysbrook – Aprilia RS 660 was the immediate protagonist of a thrilling sports story. Approved just in time for the beginning of the 2021 Twins Cup, the Italian twin-cylinder took the top three spots straight away in the opening race on the Road Atlanta circuit. It was a blinding start, and in some ways unexpected, followed by a winning streak: 10 total wins out of 13 races held, plus another 16 podiums (9 second places and 7 third places) and 6 pole positions. That first, extraordinary one-two-three was followed by others, on the historic Laguna Seca circuit and in both of the races held in New Jersey.

Five of the 10 total wins were achieved by Kaleb De Keyrel, crowned Twins Cup 2021 champion astride his Aprilia RS 660 prepared by the Robem Engineering team. The other victories were credited to Jody Barry, Cory Ventura, Anthony Mazziotto (two wins) and Tommaso Marcon. The Aprilia RS 660 therefore confirmed its status as a versatile bike, able to win on extremely different circuits and with riders who have different riding styles.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory

The Factory versions of Aprilia sports bikes have always been flagship products, dedicated to the most demanding and skilled riders, who can appreciate the quality of the most sophisticated outfitting.

And now, the Factory trim is also available for the Tuono 660, which makes for a Tuono with unparalleled dynamic qualities, the most efficient and fun to use on the road and a true generator of emotions, accessible to everyone. All this, while respecting the Aprilia 660 project that promises bikes with a sensational weight/power ratio that are lightweight, high-performance, and built around the brand-new latest generation Aprilia parallel twin.

With respect to Tuono 660, already widely recognised and appreciated by the public and critics for its outstanding chassis qualities, Tuono 660 Factory boasts more sophisticated suspension, better suited to sports riding. The Kayaba fork with 41 mm stanchions is fully adjustable in its compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load, while the Sachs shock with separate reservoir is also adjustable in its compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load.

There is an even better weight/power ratio, one of the main goals for all new Aprilia 660 models and already outstanding on the Tuono 660, thanks to the adoption of a light lithium battery that contributes to reducing the overall weight by roughly 2 kg (the kerb weight is now 181 kg) and also better engine performance.

A compact and lightweight latest-generation engine, the 660 cc forward-facing twin with DOHC timing and four valves per cylinder is the result of experience gained with the very powerful engine that equips RSV4, from which the construction philosophy and basic concepts derive. The engine has a load-bearing function and houses the aluminium swingarm in its rear section. Combustion is asymmetric and offset by 270° to obtain irregular combustion which translates into performance and sound similar to that of a V-twin. The maximum power is upped from 95 HP with the Tuono 660 to 100 HP with the Tuono 660 Factory. The engine boasts even more drive in acceleration, thanks to the use of a shorter final drive, with a 16-tooth pinion gear, one less than Tuono 660. The maximum torque remains unchanged, with 67 Nm at 8500 rpm, 80% of which is available from 4000 rpm, or 90% on reaching 6250 rpm.

Tuono 660 Factory offers a full suite of APRC electronic controls with a Ride-by-Wire electronic accelerator and six-axis inertial platform as standard. The latter, thanks to the accelerometers and gyroscopes it contains, is able to recognise the bike’s condition with respect to the road, recording and processing the inputs that result from riding and sending the data to a control unit that intervenes to optimise the control parameters. The Tuono 660 Factory APRC includes ATC (Aprilia Traction Control), adjustable traction control characterised by high-performance intervention strategies; AWC (Aprilia Wheelie Control), the adjustable wheelie control system; ACC (Aprilia Cruise Control) to maintain a steady speed without using the throttle; AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift), the electronic gearbox that allows for very rapid shifting without closing the throttle or using the clutch. It is also equipped with the downshift function, to allow for clutchless downshifting; AEB (Aprilia Engine Brake), the adjustable system to control engine braking when closing the throttle; AEM (Aprilia Engine Map), with different mappings via which to alter the engine’s character and delivery.

Tuono 660 Factory also benefits from multi-map Cornering ABS. With its extremely contained weight and dimensions, the system is able to optimise braking and ABS intervention through the corners, thanks to a specific algorithm that constantly monitors various parameters such as lateral acceleration, the pressure applied to the front brake lever, and the lean, pitch and yaw angle, modulating the braking action in order to optimise the ratio between deceleration and stability.

As with the Tuono 660, there are five customisable Riding Modes (three for road use and two for track use) to simplify life on-board. The rider needs only to choose the Riding Mode that best interprets his or her riding needs in order to automatically obtain the best settings in terms of traction control, wheelie control, engine brake, ABS and the other managed parameters. Adoption of the inertial platform has also allowed for activation of the “bending lights” function, incorporated into the front LED light cluster complete with perimeter DRL (this pair of additional lights illuminate the entire corner, increasing visibility when leaning).

With its reduced surfaces effectively highlighting a dynamic, sports character, the bike’s design stands out for the innovative double fairing that serves as an aerodynamic appendage. The pressure of the air channelled between the two walls contributes to optimising stability at high speeds and, at the same time, increases rider comfort by protecting against direct air flow, also deflecting the hot air extracted from the engine. The Tuono 660 Factory version is further enhanced with the aggressive and sporty Factory Dark graphics and the presence of the single-seat tail fairing , painted in black and red and supplied as standard together with the passenger seat and footpegs. These pegs, like those of the rider, are the same as those of the Aprilia RS 660.

Aprilia SR GT

Aprilia uses EICMA 2021 as the stage on which to present an innovative product on the compact GT scooter landscape, as it unveils Aprilia SR GT.

Aprilia SR GT is the first “urban adventure” scooter by Aprilia, designed to re-inject the fun into everyday riding in the city, but also over long distances and less travelled paths, thanks to equipment inspired by the enduro world that makes it the ideal companion in every situation.

The Aprilia SR GT expands the Aprilia Urban Mobility range, a line of extremely functional vehicles that trace the evolution of urban mobility and are designed to make everyday trips increasingly safe, simple and exciting, but with that pure Aprilia spirit. The Aprilia Urban Mobility line already includes the eSR1 and eSR2 electric scooters and Aprilia SXR 50, the small-engine urban scooter with content usually reserved for higher-end vehicles.

With the Aprilia SR GT, an active riding position and motorcycle-inspired wide, naked handlebar offer ultimate control, while long-travel suspension and increased ground clearance ensure any obstacle is easily surmounted when riding in the city. And the tyres, with their generous cross-section and “all terrain” tread design, allow the rider to adventure on any surface, from asphalt to cobblestones and white roads.

All of this is combined with the unmistakeable Aprilia sports design, the latest 125 and 200 cc i-get engines complete with Start & Stop system for top-class performance, and comprehensive equipment that includes full LED lights, LCD instrumentation and the APRILIA MIA connectivity system (optional).

A unique style, with sports lines and a nod to the motorcycle world
The versatility of Aprilia SR GT is immediately clear from its style details, with strong references to the racing character of Aprilia sports bikes, but also the off-road world.

Side-on, Aprilia SR GT is compact, with reduced overhang and taut, dynamic lines that emphasise its sports nature. As well as housing the tank, the central tunnel serves to connect the front and rear, giving SR GT the appearance of a motorcycle. Added to this is the licence plate, which is positioned on the rear wheel to leave a slimmer tail section. Perfectly integrated into the design, the passenger grab handles and full LED rear light cluster complete with turn signals also make an impression.

With the focus firmly on fun, the Aprilia SR GT riding position is less rearward and more “active” with respect to a traditional compact GT scooter. But the rider can adopt a different position, with their feet further forward on the footpegs, for a more relaxed riding style that is less tiring over long distances. This is possible thanks to an ergonomic footpeg, the external part of which resembles the shape of the protective plates on off-road bikes.

Standing out at the front is the full LED three-element light cluster, typical of Noale sports bikes, as well as the double fairing that emerges to the sides of the shield, but there is also a clear enduro influence, with the suspended windscreen and wide, naked handlebar that contributes to a sense of total control, particularly when manoeuvring at low speed in city traffic. The handlebar is fixed to the vehicle with a refined die-cast aluminium riser that bears the Aprilia logo, while the ergonomic and intuitive handlebar control sets are clearly motorcycle-derived.

The instrumentation is fully digital, the large LCD display providing all vehicle data, as well as a wide range of travel information, which can be selected with the MODE button on the left-hand control block. If the APRILIA MIA connectivity system (available on request) is present, once a smartphone is connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth, the instrument panel will also display notifications regarding incoming calls and messages. The system also enables call management using the specific connectivity button on the right-hand control block and the use of vocal commands to make calls or play music, by activating a playlist.

Unstoppable in the city and ready for adventure
A joy to ride, Aprilia SR GT is designed to make any trip a thrill. Know-how in the frame field is fully exploited by Aprilia technicians in creating the chassis, a guarantee of precise dynamic behaviour. A double cradle frame in high-strength steel tubing is paired with brand-new long-travel suspension developed specifically for this model.

The front boasts a Showa fork with 33 mm stanchions and 122 mm of travel, 22% more than that of its closest competitor, while the rear features two double-acting Showa shock absorbers with coil spring and five-position adjustable pre-load, and travel equating to 102 mm, which is 7% more than the competition. This particular configuration, combined with specific suspension calibration, boosts control, comfort and safety, especially over uneven surfaces, but without impacting on the riding pleasure.

With its sophisticated chassis, a weight of just 144 kg with a full tank (148 kg for the 200 version) and light alloy rims – 14” at the front and 13” at the rear – with wide cross-section tyres (110/80 and 130/70), Aprilia SR GT offers excellent agility and handling in traffic, but is also stable at more sustained speeds. The braking system uses a 260 mm petal front disc. Lighter and better able to dissipate heat, this makes for better performance, while the rear features a 220 mm disc (petal-shaped on the 200 and 125 Sport versions).

The Aprilia SR GT also stands out for its minimum ground clearance of 175 mm, a never-before-seen value for traditional compact GT scooters. This allows the rider to easily surmount any bumps in the road and descend from any altitude. All these characteristics, together with “all-terrain” tyres with a slightly knobby tread, make Aprilia SR GT extremely flexible and suited to any type of use. Unstoppable in the city, where obstacles such as cobblestones, tram lines, manhole covers, potholes and uneven asphalt are common, SR GT is also ready for exciting journeys, during which the rider can even leave the asphalt and venture onto white roads.

So covering long distances is no problem at all, thanks also to a generous tank, its 9-litre capacity translating into a range of roughly 350 km.

A 25-litre under-seat compartment can accommodate a full-face helmet, while additional accessories ensure the Aprilia SR GT is always ready to travel, one example being the strong and very roomy 33-litre aluminium top case.

Latest generation i-get engines, for top-class performance
Aprilia SR GT also makes a mark on the compact GT scooter segment with its engine power and efficiency. Belonging to the i-get family, this pair of very modern Euro 5-approved units with electronic injection, four valves and liquid cooling are the product of know-how at the Piaggio Group R&D centre for scooter engines, the most important in Europe.

Alongside the 125 cc i-get single-cylinder, accredited with maximum power of 11 kW at 8750 rpm and torque that reaches 12 Nm at 6500 rpm, the Aprilia SR GT 200 introduces the brand-new 174 cc single-cylinder, which boasts 13 kW of power at 8500 rpm and 16.5 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm. Values of absolute reference, which ensure elasticity, rapid pick-up and a smooth ride in all conditions.

Results that are achieved with meticulous work across a large number of components, with the aim of optimising the thermodynamic performance. In particular, the new 200 cc engine adopts an aluminium cylinder with Nikasil coating (a motorcycle-derived solution), a new piston with updated crown geometry, and a new head that contributes to optimising the combustion efficiency.

Better engine performance also calls for more efficient heat extraction, while the CVT transmission complete with larger clutch is revised in order to suit the engine’s new power curve.

All models in the Aprilia SR GT range are equipped with the Start & Stop system known as RISS (Regulator Inverter Start & Stop System). The system does away with the traditional starter, which is replaced with a brushless electrical device installed directly on the crankshaft. There are many advantages, not least a quieter startincreased lightness and reliability, and lower fuel consumption. The Start & Stop system automatically switches off the engine 1 to 5 seconds after the scooter has stopped (depending on whether the engine has reached its correct operating temperature or not). A slight twist of the throttle is enough to instantly re-start the engine, in total silence, as there is no traditional starter.

All of which translates into engines that are extremely frugal in their fuel consumption, with a WMTC cycle distance of 40 km/l for SR GT 125 and 38.5 km/l for SR GT 200.

A gritty Sport version joins the range
As well as a more classic version, Aprilia SR GT also offers a Sport trim, which boasts grittier, more sports-oriented graphics and finishes.

Aprilia SR GT is available in three colours, Aprilia BlackStreet Grey and Infinity Blue, each paired with silvery grey footpegs, sides and passenger grab handles. The wheels are black, the saddle black with grey stitching.

The Sport version comes even closer to the typical liveries of Aprilia sports bikes, offering Street GoldIridium Grey and Red Raceway matte colour schemes, which are combined with red painted wheels and a two-colour black and grey saddle with red stitching. The silvery grey footpegs feature Aprilia lettering, while the central tunnel and sides are matte black, with passenger grab handles to match the vehicle. A large ‘a’ for Aprilia features at the sides of the shield.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia D’onore

It was the post WW2 era when the Cuirassiers’ Regiment, the special Carabinieri unit responsible for the honour guard and security of the President of the Italian Republic, chose Moto Guzzi as its first motorcycles.

From that moment on, the guards of the Head of State have always ridden bikes made in Mandello del Lario, creating a historic combination of style, loyalty, and prestige which has become one of the best known and most beloved symbols of “Italianism” in the world.

The Eagle brand manufacturer celebrates this important collaboration, which has lasted uninterrupted for 75 years, presenting the Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia d’Onore at EICMA 2021. This is a special, numbered limited edition of its highly popular classic travel enduro which, precisely in Moto Guzzi’s centennial year, joined the Cuirassiers’ Regiment’s motorcycle fleet. In fact, with a presentation ceremony to President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella on 20 May 2021, two Guzzi V85 TT units joined the California 1400 Touring bikes already used by the Cuirassiers.

Just like the V85 TT bikes delivered to the Head of State at the Quirinal Palace, the V85 TT Guardia d’Onore features the typical black livery with white graphics that characterise the Cuirassiers’ Moto Guzzi machines. The white decorations run along the front mudguard, continuing onto the fuel tank and the side panels and they are also picked up on the oversized Touring windscreen. The latter is part of the standard equipment package, along with the centre stand, the engine guard bars and the supplementary LED lights. The pair of side panniers dedicated to this model are available on request.

The Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia d’Onore will be produced in a limited edition of 1946 units, a number reminiscent of the first 75 years of partnership between the Mandello Eagle and the Cuirassiers’ Regiment, as well as a tribute to the year the Italian Republic was established. To further highlight the exclusive nature of this particular version, the progressive number of the unit is engraved on the handlebar riser, from 1 to 1946.

Everyone who purchases this special version of the V85 TT will also receive a valuable celebratory case which includes a brochure with the history of Moto Guzzi bikes used by the Cuirassiers and the stamp collector’s folder containing the postmarked stamp issued on the occasion of the Moto Guzzi Centennial.

The Cuirassiers and Moto Guzzi: 75 years of history
The long history that binds the Cuirassiers’ Regiment to the Eagle from Mandello has its roots in the second post-war period when modern cars began to be favoured over the outdated royal carriages for institutional travel involving the President of the Italian Republic. Consequently, the escort unit made up of select – and extremely tall – elite Carabinieri needed a means of transportation more suitable than horses to follow the motorised vehicles.

Confirming years of collaboration with the Italian armed forces, the choice fell almost naturally to Moto Guzzi, a true source of national pride, partly because of their countless victories achieved in motorcycle racing since the ’20s.

The need to quickly motorise a unit that had been strictly equestrian until then led the Cuirassiers to adopt 4 different Moto Guzzi models in just over 5 years. And so, the Alce, military bike par excellence, the Superalce, the Astore and its direct evolution, the Falcone Sport joined the regiment’s fleet.

However, it was only from the Astore that the bikes were specially outfitted to adapt to the needs of the Cuirassiers, including those connected to their specific height (in fact, the minimum height requirement to join the regiment was 190 cm).

As the nineteen-sixties approached, it was still the Falcone Sport (with electric starter from 1959) that escorted the President of the Republic and the various foreign Heads of State visiting Italy. In line with the technological evolution in the motorcycle field, the first true change in the Cuirassiers’ motorcycle fleet came in 1968. With the V7 Special units, the single-cylinder was definitively surpassed to embrace the new Moto Guzzi era and the revolutionary transversal V-twin, destined to become the manufacturer’s calling card.

In 1975, one of the most innovative Moto Guzzi models arrived on the market – the V1000 I-Convert. With its increased engine capacity that reached 1000 cc and its unprecedented integrated braking system, the I-Convert went to work straight away escorting the President of the Republic, paving the way for the next 40 years of maxicruisers from Mandello destined for this role.

The mid ’80s marked the start of the long relationship between the Cuirassiers and the various Moto Guzzi California models, increasingly more muscular and with increasing engine capacity. Displacement went from the 948 cc of the California II used in 1985 all the way to the 1380 cc of the segment monarch, the California 1400 Touring, which cut a fine figure in the Cuirassiers’ parades and in presidential transfers from 2007.

In May of this important year, which marks Moto Guzzi’s one-hundredth birthday, the Eagle brand presented the current President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, with V85 TT units which joined his personal escort fleet.

The brand new bikes feature a livery created specifically for the occasion, chromatically reminiscent of the California 1400 units already used.

The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Is Exclusively Unveiled At EICMA

In marking its centenary in 2021, Moto Guzzi does not just celebrate a milestone but rather a starting point, a base on which to construct the future. The beginning of a new century in which Moto Guzzi will continue to produce magnificent motorcycles, authentic and strong in character.

Oozing with charm and cutting-edge technology, these modern bikes will be proudly made in Italy, as ever, at the Mandello del Lario factory that will continue to be the epicentre of Moto Guzzi passion.

The eagle’s nest will also benefit from a new look, the result of an ambitious project to reconstruct, expand and develop over the coming years. The factory will be opened to the public, becoming a place in which to meet and share the love for motorcycling. This brand-new industrial vision, based on the concepts of environmental sustainability and the efficient use of resources, will serve to promote a totally unique technical and cultural heritage by carefully balancing tradition and innovation, engineering and design.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello, a first step towards 2121
“100” as in the history written during its first century, one of passion, skill, innovation, and success, both sporting and commercial. “100” as in the second century that has just begun. “100” to indicate, as is Moto Guzzi tradition, the displacement of the very modern new engine, the basis for a family of new generation motorcycles that will come to light in the future.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello will mark the start of a brand-new chapter in the Moto Guzzi story. A bike that refuses to conform or fit into just one category, it will combine dynamic flair with the travel vocation that lives in the soul of every Moto Guzzi.

A never-before-seen Moto Guzzi then, one characterised by cutting-edge technology, as the brand paves the way towards the future with innovative technical solutions and aerodynamics.

V100 Mandello will also present an innovative design which, as with all Moto Guzzis, focuses on showcasing the unique and inimitable twin engine. Lines that are far from nostalgic and that offer a modern take on the very cornerstones of Moto Guzzi style. This is clear to see in the shapes of the tank, which appear to be moulded directly to the muscular engine heads, in the under-seat side panels, the slots of which are a clear reference to the legendary 1976 Le Mans, and in the top fairing, a tribute to the 1981 Le Mans 850 III. A 21st century bike, in its style and technology, that embodies the character and authenticity typical of all Moto Guzzis.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello will represent a turning point in the brand’s history, the project introducing some very important technological innovations. It will be the very first motorcycle to offer adaptive aerodynamics, and the first Moto Guzzi to be equipped with advanced electronic solutions such as the six-axis inertial platform, cornering ABS, semi-active suspension and the quick shift, to cite just a few of the most important features.

And it will be the first Moto Guzzi to be powered by the new “compact block” engine, with its sophisticated technical characteristics. Tradition is respected with the 90° transverse V architecture of the twin, which guarantees that unique torque delivery and inimitable Moto Guzzi sound, but the project is in fact all new.

An innovative design has allowed for the development of an extremely compact and lightweight engine, which is 103 mm shorter than the V85 TT small block. The new twin stands out from all the engines recently built in Mandello del Lario for its cylinder heads, which are rotated by 90°, a decision that increases on-board comfort and rationalises the positioning of components in the intake and electronic injection systems.

Its actual displacement equates to 1042 cc, while timing involves a double over head camshaft with finger followers and four valves per cylinder, which are chain driven. It also flaunts a wet sump lubrication system, a liquid cooling system, and a hydraulically-controlled wet clutch.

Performance is second to none, with power in excess of 115 HP and torque of more than 105 Nm, with 90% already available at 3500 rpm and the limiter set at 9500 rpm. Data that effectively showcases the character and power of the new engine, gutsy and with real drive already at low speeds, and able to offer a riding experience worthy of the Moto Guzzi name.

The shaft drive employs a long aluminium single-sided swingarm, now positioned on the left. The drive shaft exit position, much lower with respect to previous Moto Guzzi engines, does away with any suspension reaction owing to the transfer of torque, with no need for linkage on the swingarm. This makes for a smooth ride during both acceleration and release, similar to that offered by a chain drive, but with the typical advantages of the shaft, so less maintenance and greater cleanliness.

The sports character of V100 Mandello does not just have to do with the performance of the new engine, but also the qualities of a compact and manageable chassis, which offers excitement through the turns and fast sections but also real stability over more long-range trips, with that inimitable front wheel feeling, synonymous with fun and riding pleasure. This is also thanks to the steel tube frame with 1486 mm wheelbase, fruit of a first-rate Moto Guzzi construction culture and ideal for showcasing the bike’s agility.

Its touring attitude is boosted thanks to the significant comfort that the generous saddle and active, relaxed riding position afford. The adoption of a single variable-section aluminium handlebar is in line with the philosophy of the model, perfect for ensuring control during sports riding while also offering a higher and more relaxed riding position when touring. Two-person travel is at the base of the project, the passenger able to count on a significant, well padded portion of saddle and practical grab handles, with a posture that ensures a relaxing trip. The comprehensive, dedicated accessories catalogue also includes a set of bike cases, which do not require any additional supports for assembly and contain both the side bulk and weight of the bike. Moto Guzzi technology also contributes to increasing both comfort and air protection, with the world-first adoption of an adaptive aerodynamic system that automatically adjusts the position of deflectors on the sides of the 17.5-litre tank depending on the speed and selected Riding Mode. The fully raised aerodynamic appendages reduce air pressure on the rider by 22%, which brings V100 Mandello close to the level of air protection afforded by more voluminous and less sporty tourers, thanks also to the protection provided by the top fairing, the height of which can be electronically adjusted.

This system contributes to what is a first-rate electronics package, comprising the Ride by Wire electronic accelerator for precise performance and consumption control, the advanced Marelli 11MP ECU, the six-axis inertial platform for effective management of the electronic controls, cruise control, and Cornering ABS to ensure active safety when braking through the turns.

Four Riding Modes are available, namely Travel, Sport, Rain and Road. Each of these manages three different engine mappings, four levels of traction control, three levels of engine brake and (in the version that introduces them as standard) also calibration of the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension , which can adapt automatically, minute by minute, to suit the type of riding and the road conditions, for the best possible bike behaviour in any situation.

As ever, Moto Guzzi technology does not only aim to ensure a safe and exciting ride, but also facilitate life on-board. The rider need only select the Riding Mode that best suits their riding requirements in order to benefit from the best automatic adjustment of the electronic parameters, which can also be personalised so that every rider can find their preferred settings. Also included as standard is the 5″ colour TFT instrumentation, full LED lighting with DRL and the “bending lights” system with a pair of additional lights that illuminate the entire corner, increasing visibility when leaning.

V100 Mandello is available in two versions, which differ in terms of their trim. The more comprehensive version includes Öhlins semi-active suspension as standard, but also the quick shift, heated hand grips, and the Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform that allows a smartphone to be connected to the instrumentation via Bluetooth to extend its functions. Moto Guzzi MIA includes both the infotainment system for management of the voice assistant, phone calls and music via the intuitive handlebar controls, and the GPS function, which allows the rider to view directions directly on the instrument panel once a destination is set on the smartphone.

Expand Your Hunting Ground On The 2022 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT

As one of the torquiest motorcycles in the segment, one could argue that the 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT doesn’t move across the earth – it simply spins the ground beneath it to help you reach your destination…

In a segment that necessitates comfort and the ability to cover ground effortlessly, the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT rewrites the rulebook. Designed to offer riders a unique Grand Touring experience, but engineered to be a true Sports bike underneath the touring parts, the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT covers ground unlike any Sports Tourer on the market.

Thanks to its EURO 5 rated, 175 HP, 141 Nm KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R-derived, 1,301 cc V-twin engine, this is the class leader when it comes to punching a hole in the atmosphere or hauling in the horizon. But it’s not only forward momentum where the long-distance BEAST is true to its namesake.

The WP APEX semi-active suspension on the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT works with a specific logic. The design approach to preload adjustability of the rear shock has been geared for the long-distance tourer and is very intuitive. The logic allows riders to set the suspension up according to four different real-life riding situations, namely: RIDER, RIDER & PILLION, RIDER & LUGGAGE, or RIDER, PILLION & LUGGAGE. On top of that, an anti-dive function is fitted as standard.

A new 7 inch-TFT display allows for quick and easy ride adjustment on the fly, thanks to a newly designed layout striking the perfect balance between information and style. The set-up is completed by the new robust switchgear that not only feels premium but also allows for intuitive interaction between the rider and the dash itself.

The wheels on the 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT have been lifted from the latest KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R. These boast a weight saving of 1 kg of unsprung mass over the old set of rims; this not only improves the overall handling but also sports a more aggressive wheel design.

These all-new lightweight wheels are wrapped in new rubber, namely Continental ContiSportAttack 4. The ContiSportAttack 4 boasts a sportier and a more stable riding experience, delivering on the demand for a sportier tire to match the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT’s versatile abilities.

The KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT will also debut an all-new navigation system called Turn-by-turn PLUS that will further enhance the touring experience. TBT+ will be available via KTMconnect. This allows navigation instructions to be projected directly on the new 7-inch TFT display, helping riders navigate more effectively. Turn-by-turn PLUS (TBT+) will be launched on the 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT, with roll-outs to other models in the near future.

Powered by SYGIC®, TBT+ can also operate offline, allowing riders to plan their journey and adventure from remote locations, with the NAVIGATION feature using industry-standard mapping to guide riders to their destination of choice. There’s also an advanced search feature, and a diverse range of POIs (including gas stations, restaurants, rest stops), while the system lets you select one of your pre-saved destinations directly from the TFT dash. All the above features can be accessed directly from the new 7-inch TFT dash, while the rider no longer needs to remove their phone from the jacket pocket, making it more convenient and efficient for those quick on-the-fly changes.

The new system also allows for waypoints to be skipped without prompting a turnaround. The system will merely recalculate and find the next available route to get you back on track. Also, the last 10 destinations searched are automatically saved and available directly on the dashboard.

Benelli TRK 800

A new and exciting adventure is about to begin. Benelli presents the TRK 800, the brand new adventure bike from the manufacturer based in Pesaro, designed to take on any type of trip, guaranteeing maximum comfort and fun both on and off the road.

A bike born in the Benelli Style Centre and developed by the R&D department of the House of the Leoncino in Pesaro, where the headquarters and the heart of the company are located. A bike launched on Benelli’s 110th anniversary, representing the beginning of a new chapter in the Italian brand’s history. A motorcycle that further extends the TRK range, joining the Pesaro-based manufacturer’s best-seller, the TRK 502 X, offering the user a new agile and manageable motorcycle with a modern and refined style, powered by a 754cc engine.

The design of the TRK 800 features fluid, sinuous and strongly contemporary lines, which combine with elegant and refined surfaces as if to emphasise the growing emotions that this bike is able to offer, adventure after adventure. Keeping the family feeling of the TRK range, this new adventure evolves in style with the intention of making some of the elements present in the 500 version iconic, such as the front end and the front mudguard, which here are more tapered and dynamic, the double-arched headlights, which in the TRK 800 we find full LED with DRL, and the muscular nature of the bike, which is expressed here with a new proportion of volumes.

The 754cc twin-cylinder, four-stroke engine is liquid cooled and is the same as the one mounted on Leoncino 800, with 76.2 hp (56 kW) at 8500 rpm and a torque of 67 Nm (6.8 kgm) at 6500 rpm, in order to ensure pure fun and performance in any conditions. It features double overhead camshaft timing with 4 valves per cylinder and 43 mm diameter dual throttle body. The torque-assisted wet slipper clutch and 6-speed gearbox are also worth mentioning.

The chassis is based on a tubular trellis frame with a high-strength steel plate, designed to ensure the rider maximum agility and comfort in all conditions without ever getting tiring, even on long journeys. The bike’s ergonomics have been carefully considered down to the smallest detail, to easily accommodate both rider and passenger even with side and top cases, ensuring a comfortable, intuitive riding position.

The suspensions on the front ensure maximum comfort whether on or off the road thanks to a Marzocchi upside-down fork with 50 mm legs – adjustable in rebound, compression and spring preload – and 170 mm travel, and on the back an aluminium swinging arm with central monoshock adjustable in the spring preload and hydraulic rebound damping and a travel of 53 mm (171 mm at the wheel). Great care has been taken with the aerodynamic protection thanks to a large adjustable fairing, hand guards and baffles, which provide perfect protection for both rider and passenger. Maximum attention was also paid to comfort, thanks to a slim, spacious seat, the comfortable, sturdy crown passenger grab handles and standard central stand. Generous fuel tank capacity of 21 litres. This new motorcycle also features an easy-to-use, intuitive dashboard, equipped with a high-resolution 7’’ colour TFT display.

The performance of the Brembo braking system is ensured by the double 320 mm diameter semi-floating disc on the front and four-piston calliper, and a 260 mm diameter disc on the back with a single-piston calliper. The 19” front and 17” rear aluminium alloy rims respectively mount 110/80-19 and 150/70-17 tyres.

Benelli TRK 800 will be available at all Benelli dealers starting from the second half of 2022. The price is yet to be determined.

THE MAIN NEW PRODUCTS FROM THE PIAGGIO GROUP AT EICMA 2021

Aprilia Tuareg 660
This bike on the Aprilia 660 platform is a true off-roader with a name introduced by Aprilia in 1985 that has become legendary in the off-road segment, so evocative that its destination can be immediately identified. The Tuareg 660 has been designed, developed and built as the ideal synthesis between mono-cylinder enduros and mid-range adventure bikes, two antithetical worlds until now. The Tuareg 660 raises the level of off-road riding to adventure bikes while making the most of its personality as a tourer, thanks to its impeccable performance on the road, premium technical content, the capabilities of its 80 hp twin-cylinder engine and a dry weight of just 187 kg. An innovative concept and an innovative design where the focus is on practicality, with the elimination of all superfluous elements. The frame has been developed for heavy-duty use on challenging off-road terrains. Structural solidity is guaranteed by the six anchor points fastening the engine to the frame, to turn the engine into a stressed member. The very long-travel suspensions are fully adjustable and ideal for overcoming any off-road obstacle while ensuring rider and passenger comfort on the road. The 18-litre tank is heavily tapered in the leg area; its vertical development means the fuel remains close to the barycentre without affecting riding dynamics. The measurements of the tubeless aluminium rims indicate the strong off-road vocation of the Tuareg 660: 2.5 x 21” for the front wheel, 4.5 x 18” for the rear wheel. Both are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, measuring 90/90 and 150/70 respectively. The instruments are cutting edge, with a suite of APRC electronic controls, including traction control, cruise control, engine brake and customisable engine maps. The ABS can be deactivated on both channels for particularly challenging off-road riding. The parallel twin-cylinder engine, a highly compact lightweight latest-generation unit, was designed specifically for use on this type of motorbike; its specific modifications deliver 80 hp and 70 Nm, with 75% of torque already available at 3,000 rpm, to guarantee immediate response to the throttle at the lowest revs. The bike comes with a wealth of accessories and special clothing.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory
With respect to Tuono 660, already widely recognised and appreciated by the public and critics for its outstanding chassis qualities, Tuono 660 Factory boasts more sophisticated suspension, better suited to sports riding. The Kayaba fork with 41 mm stanchions is fully adjustable in its compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load, while the Sachs shock with separate reservoir is also adjustable in its compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load.
There is an even better weight/power ratio, thanks to the adoption of a light lithium battery that contributes to reducing the overall weight by roughly 2 kg (the kerb weight is now 181 kg). The maximum power of the 660 cc twin is upped from 95 HP with the Tuono 660 to 100 HP with the Tuono 660 Factory. The engine boasts even more drive in acceleration, thanks to the use of a shorter final drive, with a 16-tooth pinion gear, one less than Tuono 660. The maximum torque remains unchanged, with 67 Nm at 8500 rpm.
Tuono 660 Factory offers a full suite of APRC electronic controls with a Ride-by-Wire electronic accelerator and six-axis inertial platform as standard, as well as the AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift), the electronic gearbox that allows for very rapid shifting without closing the throttle or using the clutch. It is also equipped with the downshift function, to allow for clutchless downshifting.
The design is further enhanced with the aggressive and sporty Factory Dark graphics and the presence of the single-seat tail fairing, painted in black and red

Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition
Little more than a year after its market launch in October 2020, the Aprilia RS 660 is already celebrating its first major sports victory: the Italian mid-range sports bike dominated the 2021 Twins Cup, the fiercely fought US championship for mid-range twin-cylinder models and part of MotoAmerica, the United States’ premier motorcycle road racing series. To celebrate the victory,

Aprilia is presenting a special numbered edition of 1,000 RS 660 two-wheelers, featuring an original stars and stripes livery inspired by the US flag and unique features including a one-seater tailpiece cover, large-size front shield and software to invert the quick-shift configuration. This means, depending on the rider’s needs, the shift can be independently configured for road riding or inverted, ideal for track riding.

Aprilia SR GT
The first urban adventure scooter from Aprilia, to re-discover the pleasure of riding in an urban setting on a daily basis, as well as over longer distances or on lesser known roads and trails, thanks to features inspired by enduro bikes that make this two-wheeler the ideal companion in any situation. On the new Aprilia SR GT the active riding position and broad motorcycle-style naked handlebar optimise control, while the long-travel suspensions and greater above-ground height mean any obstacle encountered during city driving can be easily overcome; the broad all-terrain tyres support any type of surface, from asphalt and paving stones to dirt roads. The Aprilia SR GT is also a leader in terms of engine power and efficiency, with two state-of-the-art Euro 5 electronic injection, 4-valve, liquid-cooled units from the i-get family. In addition to the mono-cylinder 125 cc i-get engine, with a top power of 11 kW at 8,750 revs and torque of 12 Nm at 6,500 revs, the mono-cylinder 174 cc makes its debut on the Aprilia SR GT 200, delivering 13 kW at 8,500 revs and torque of 16.5 Nm at 7,000 revs. Benchmark values that guarantee elasticity, lively acceleration and smooth riding in all conditions, with highly efficient fuel consumption.

2022 Honda Forza 125

Model updatesHonda’s premium sports/GT Forza 125 scooter maintains its place in the spotlight with new colour options for 22YM. Standard specification includes HSTC, electric screen adjustment, USB Type-C socket, storage space for two full-face helmets, full LED lighting and Smart Key operation.
  1. Introduction

Honda’s Forza 125 was designed specifically for discerning European customers who demand the very most out of their scooter in every respect. And right from its introduction in 2015 it has met and exceeded all expectations, evolving year on year in response to owner feedback, and selling over 80,000 units to date.

Straight out of the crate the Forza 125 hit the ground rolling, proving an instant sales hit thanks to its comprehensive mix of sporty and ‘GT’ elements wrapped up in a distinctive design package. A lively new four valve version of Honda’s eSP  (‘enhanced Smart Power’) engine, compact dimensions, sports-oriented attitude and handling ability provided traffic-busting agility around town, while its sit-in comfort, wind protection and strong top end power made easy work of longer-range highway commuting. Add in plenty of storage, premium features front to back, a new sharp-edged design aesthetic and Honda build quality, and the reasons for its immediate popularity are clear.

Fittingly, it’s never stood still, either. In 18YM – maintaining a steep development curve – the Forza 125 received a complete, sporty re-style and rider-focused upgrades that included full LED lighting and electric screen. 21YM saw the addition of enhanced desirability and practical functionality.

22YM HONDA FORZA 125
  1. Model Overview

For 21YM, cosmetic updates were applied to the front and side fairings, mirrors, rear side panels and engine covers to refresh the Forza 125’s styling, creating a sleeker overall look, and improving aerodynamics. The re-shaped electric screen adjusted with an extra 40mm travel to maximise wind protection. And a USB socket replaced the ACC charger.

The chassis remained unchanged, but the four-valve water-cooled SOHC engine received Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) to maintain rear tyre grip. It also gained EURO5 compliance.

For 22YM, two striking new colour options add further desirability and style.

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Electric screen adjusts through 180mm,
  • Room for two full-face helmets under the seat; new USB charging socket
  • Smart Key operation of ignition and (optional) 45-litre top box
  • Emergency stop signal function (ESS) warns other road users of sudden braking

The Forza 125’s lines flow back from its electric screen (controlled by a switch on the left handlebar) which adjusts through 180mm. It’s designed to provide wind protection, with airflow directed around and over the rider’s head, and reduce wind noise.

Stability and comfort at higher speeds – and long distances – can be instantly exchanged for a greater sense of freedom around town, by lowering the screen. For comfort at higher speeds a larger front air duct manages negative pressure in front of the rider, reducing the natural effect of the wind pushing the rider back.

Sculpted for both style and aerodynamic efficiency, the Forza 125’s sharp design lines give a clean, smooth modernity, creating an impression of energetic sportiness and premium desirability. The styling team’s key words of ‘aggressive, technical and powerful’ find expression in a new spoiler-type surround below the headlight, refreshed fairing side panels with a distinctive ‘Z’ design line, and a steeply descending character line for the rear side panels that create a forward-looking, purposeful aesthetic.

Handlebar width remains 750mm as does mirror height of 1125mm, the perfect dimensions for slipping through congested city streets. Seat height is also unchanged at 780mm; there’s plenty of room for two and the riding position cups the rider securely. All lighting is LED.

Two full-face helmets can be stored under the seat, and it’s also possible to partition the storage area to house a helmet and/or rain gear and A4-sized bags. The front left inner fairing pocket is lockable and its internal space can be arranged for the rider’s convenience to hold a phone and water bottle, for instance. A USB socket replaces the ACC 12V charging point.

The Forza 125’s Smart Key – as well as controlling the main ignition switch knob and compartment locking – also manages the optional 45L Smart top box. With the Smart Key in the rider’s pocket the box is unlocked, and automatically locks when the rider walks away. It can also be locked from the key. To maintain the internal volume of the box the actuator mechanism is located in the rear body of the machine.

Instruments present analogue speedometer and rev-counter (with redesigned dials) flanking a digital display that can switch between 3 modes: 1) odometer, range remaining and current mpg, 2) trip meter, average mpg and timer and 3) ambient temperature thermometer and battery sensor.

The 22YM Forza 125 will be available in the following paint options:

Pearl Falcon Grey **New for 2022**
Mat Pearl Pacific Blue **New for 2022**
Pearl Nightstar Black
Mat Cynos Grey Metallic
Mat Carnelian Red Metallic

22YM HONDA FORZA 125

3.2 Engine

  • 125cc engine puts out 11kW peak power with 12.2Nm torque
  • The engine features Honda’s eSP technologies, plus Idling Stop
  • 7km/l gives range of nearly 500km between fill-ups
  • Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) increases rider confidence

The Forza 125’s enhanced Smart Power (eSP) four-valve, water-cooled SOHC powerplant delivers 11kW@ 8,750rpm, with peak torque of 12.2Nm @ 6,500rpm. Bore and stroke is set at 53.5 x 55.5mm with compression ratio of 11.5:1.

From a standing start the Forza 125 accelerates rapidly (0-200m is covered in just 13.3s) while sharp mid-range makes for responsive roll-on performance in the typical 40-60km/h around-town speed range. It will cruise happily around 90km/h and V-max is 108km/h.

Honda’s eSP low-friction technologies are found throughout the engine. A compact combustion chamber and PGM-FI fuel injection – fed by 4.7-litre airbox and 26mm diameter inlet duct – optimise combustion velocity and cooling performance. Clever packaging of items like the oil pump (which is built in to the crankcase) help to further heighten the efficiency.

An offset cylinder reduces friction caused by contact between piston and bore, efficiently transmitting combustion energy to the crankshaft. A ‘spiny’ cast-iron sleeve – with tiny surface extensions – keeps in check any distortion of the inner bore diameter. This design lowers tension in the piston ring, reducing friction.

A high-efficiency radiator – integrated into the exterior of the right-side crankcase – employs a small, light fan that reduces frictional losses and lowers drag. Rolling resistance within the transmission unit is reduced by the use of three low-friction main bearings, all designed to deal with the loads they individually receive. The drive pulley features a fin design that lowers air resistance and the follower pulley reduces pressure on the drive belt, cutting transmission losses.

The electronically controlled, brushless ACG starter is an integrated component mounted directly on the end of the crankshaft, serving as starter motor and alternator. It spins the engine directly, eliminating any noise from gear engagement or meshing. The redesigned engine cover and swingarm for 21YM, complement the new bodywork.

Idling Stop automatically stops the engine running after three seconds at idle when the Forza is stationary and the brakes applied, and re-starts it instantly when the throttle grip is twisted. It’s seamless in use thanks to ACG and the swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake, and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance from compression. It has the functionality to ‘read’ the battery charge and turns itself off to avoid excessive drain. The battery is a long-life YTZ8V unit.

One of the original aims of the Forza 125 is that the trip to the fuel station should happen just once a week for the average user, and a near 500km tank range is possible thanks to the engine’s fuel efficiency of approximately 42.7km/l (WMTC mode) and 11.5-litre tank.

The engine is homologated for EURO5, which from January 1st 2020 introduced significantly stricter engine emissions standards compared to EURO4. These requirements include substantial reductions in permitted carbon monoxide emissions, an over 40% decrease in total hydrocarbon emissions, tougher misfire detection and the introduction of a particulate matter limit.

An additional technology to boost rider confidence in wet conditions is the inclusion of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which works in the background to deftly manage rear wheel traction. A ‘T’ indicator flickers on the dash when HSTC is actively reducing wheelspin, and the system can be turned off completely.

22YM HONDA FORZA 125

3.3 Chassis

  • Steel frame, 33mm telescopic forks and preload adjustable twin shocks
  • Wet weight of just 161kg aids agility and ease of use
  • Cast aluminium wheels, front and rear disc brakes, ABS fitted as standard

Unchanged for the 22YM year model, the tubular steel frame that underpins the Forza 125’s chassis provides the necessary rigidity and strength for the broad variety of riding conditions it will face. Sturdy 33mm telescopic forks are matched by twin rear shock absorbers – adjustable through 7-stage spring preload – working through a 1-piece aluminium swingarm.

The Forza 125’s light weight, just 161kg, makes it easy to manage at walking speeds, and easy to park. A wheelbase of 1,505mm provides stability; the steering geometry – 26.5° rake and 89mm trail – delivers nimble steering.

The cast aluminium 15-inch front wheel is fitted with a 120/70-15 tyre while the 14-inch rear wears a 140/70-14 tyre, offering maximum traction and ride comfort. A large 256mm single disc performs stopping duties up front, mated to a 240mm rear, with the benefit of ABS for extra braking control on slippery surfaces.

2022 Honda SH125i

Model updates: The SH125i is one of Europe’s most popular scooters for a reason: its rich specification includes a four-valve eSP+ engine with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Idling Stop, sleek signature SH style with flat floor design, LCD dash, full LED lighting, 28L storage space, USB Type-C socket and Smart Key operation. Two new paint options for 22YM add further appeal.
  1. Introduction

Part of the million-selling SH family whose founding member, the SH50, went on sale in 1984, the four-stroke Honda SH125 first hit the market in Europe in 2001. Ever since, it has quietly and consistently gone about its mission to provide stylish, fun and fuss-free transport – becoming one of the continent’s favourites along the way.

That first machine laid down the blueprint for success: a frugal-natured but lively engine tied to nimble, sure-footed handling underpinned by the stability that large diameter 16-inch wheels deliver – all wrapped in elegant, premium styling.

Fuel injected with PGM-FI in 05YM, over the last 14 years the SH125i has come to represent the ultimate in urban transport with the perfect balance of style, reliability, economy and downright usability.

And of course its story is one of constant, careful evolution reflecting the developing needs and expectations of owners, and Honda’s desire to keep on giving them an even better version of their SH. In 2013 it gained Honda’s eSP (enhanced Smart Power) low friction engine and Idling Stop, boosting both power delivery and fuel economy. And in 2017 the look was refreshed with more chiselled design lines, and LED front/rear lights and Honda Smart Key added.

In 20YM the SH125i – manufactured at Honda’s Atessa factory in Italy – was, effectively, a brand-new scooter. Standing squarely on the shoulders of its forbears it instantly became faster, even more stylish, comfortable, convenient to use and as cost effective as ever to own and run. Of course, it could never be anything else. It is an SH, after all.

For 22YM, two stylish new colour options make the SH125i even more desirable.

22YM HONDA SH125i
  1. Model Overview

Making the SH125i better was no easy goal for the 20YM update – it is one of Europe’s favourite scooters for a reason. But more power, torque and improved fuel-efficiency from a EURO5-compliant four-valve eSP+ engine was a good place to start. The addition of HSTC was also a bonus for any owner’s peace of mind.

A redesigned frame allowed extra and ever-useful storage space (plus inclusion of a USB charger) and optimisation of the rear suspension geometry enhanced comfort. And premium new bodywork and stylish front signature redefined and reinforced the SH125i’s presence, with full LED lighting and crisp LCD dash.

Five configurations are on offer:

Standard SH125i without accessories
SH125i with Smart top box
SH125i with Smart top box, knuckle guards and windscreen
SH125i with standard top box
SH125i with standard top box, knuckle guards and windscreen.

Two brand-new colours add contemporary appeal for 22YM and the SH125i will be available in the five following options:

Mat Pearl Cool White **NEW**
Mat Rock Gray **NEW**
Pearl Nightstar Black
Timeless Gray Metallic
Pearl Splendor Red

22YM HONDA SH125i
  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Stylish, SH signature flat-floored design
  • 28L total under seat storage capacity, with USB socket
  • All lighting LED with LCD instrument dash

Smooth and solid were the two words that led the design direction for the sleek, unified body style with the tension between the two reinforcing a premium presence. And the SH125i’s ‘face’ sets it apart – the fairing-mounted headlight (almost an LED ‘H’) features a central main beam splitting dual dip beams, while position lights reside above on the handlebar nacelle.

The elegant looks are matched to effortless practicality. The overall compactness, flat floor and upright riding position (essential for ease-of-use and visibility in busy town traffic) are conspicuous hallmarks of the SH look. Less obvious is the 28L of under seat storage, capable of holding a full-face helmet. A USB charging point is also included.

The flat seat provides plenty of support and room to move around and its carefully contoured shape, plus slim floor width, makes reaching the ground easy. As many journeys around town involve a pillion there’s plenty of room for two; retractable aluminium pillion footplates tuck away when not in use and provide a stable platform – especially under braking – when needed for the passenger.

The rear light is LED with a chrome surround, matching the front, and the LCD dash presents all warning lights – including Smart Key, HSTC/ABS and Idling Stop operation – neatly around a central digital speedo/odometer display. All operations on the dash are carried out via A/B buttons on the left handlebar.

The SH125i’s Smart Key resides in the rider’s pocket and does away with the need to constantly insert and withdraw a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. It has two switches: the smart function on/off and ‘answer back’, which flickers the indicators for identification from a distance.

With the Smart Key present one push of the machine-mounted main switch powers it up and makes it possible to turn, giving the rider control of the ignition and steering lock, and, via two rocker switches, the fuel cap and seat. It also illuminates when pushed – or from the answer back function of the Smart Key – with a blue light.

3.2 Engine

  • Four-valve eSP+ engine produces 9.6kW peak power and 12Nm torque
  • Also employs Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
  • EURO5 compliant, with Idling Stop and low-friction technologies

The SH125i’s 125cc liquid-cooled four-valve enhanced Smart Power+ (eSP+) engine produces peak power of 9.6kW @ 8,250rpm with 12Nm torque delivered at 6,500rpm.

Fuel economy (without Idling Stop activated) is 45.7km/l (WMTC mode). And just as important to owners and for a machine that will spend most of its time in an urban environment, the SH125’s engine is EURO5 compliant; the allowable limits for exhaust tailpipe pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrous oxide specified by EURO5 are drastically lower than those of EURO4.

Technology to boost rider confidence in wet conditions is Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) that works in the background to deftly manage rear wheel traction. An indicator flashes on the dash when HSTC is actively reducing wheelspin and the system can also be turned off completely.

Bore is set at 53.5mm with stroke of 55.5mm; compression ratio is 11.5:1. The compact engine is a masterpiece of mass centralisation. The radiator, rather than being mounted at the front of the machine is built into the engine itself for a simple, light layout. Its highly efficient core allows for the use of an ultra-compact, light cooling fan.

Low-friction technologies are employed internally; the cylinder sleeve uses minute splines on its outer surface to keep oil consumption low and improve cooling and the cylinder is offset to keep frictional losses to a minimum. Rolling resistance within the transmission is kept in check by the use of three main bearings, all designed to deal with the loads they each individually receive.

A key fuel-saving technology incorporated into the SH125i is Idling Stop. It’s operated via a switch on the right handlebar and, when enabled, automatically stops the engine running after three seconds at idle, and re-starts it instantly when the throttle grip is twisted.

It is seamless in use, thanks to a swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake, and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance due to compression. The ACG starter also generates electricity, doing away with a conventional system’s motor and gears.

22YM HONDA SH125i

3.3 Chassis

  • High-tensile tubular steel underbone frame
  • Optimised rear suspension geometry ride comfort
  • 16-inch front and rear wheels deliver sure-footed confidence

The high-tensile tubular steel underbone frame sites the 7L fuel tank under the floor  beneath the rider’s feet, which frees up 10L additional space. Wheelbase is set at 1,350mm with rake and trail of 26°/85.2mm and turning radius of 2.05m. Seat height is 799mm with wet weight of 133.9kg.

For ride comfort the engine hanger link angle and rear suspension angle are optimised to reduce rotational load toward the engine link, making for supple bump absorption and control.

Lightweight 16-inch aluminium die-cast wheels have always been key to the SH125i’s sure-footed handling ability and stability on a variety of road surfaces and mount Michelin City Grip tubeless tyres sized 100/80-16 front and 120/80-16 rear.

The rear shocks feature 5-step preload adjustment with 83mm axle travel. The 33mm telescopic front forks, with 89mm of travel, ensure excellent road holding and are tuned to give a compliant, yet controlled ride. ABS is fitted as standard; both front and rear discs have a 240mm diameter; the front caliper is a two piston design, the rear a single piston.

  1. Accessories

Alongside the standard top box are the redesigned screen and knuckle guards for enhanced weather protection. The Smart top box – which operates together with the Smart Key – and opener kit can also be retro-fitted.

2022 Honda Forza 350

Model updatesHonda’s mid-size sporty/GT sit-in scooter benefitted from increased engine capacity for 21YM and with it faster top speed and improved acceleration. The enhanced Smart Power+ (eSP+) engine also became EURO5 compliant. Standard specification includes HSTC, electric screen adjustment, USB Type-C socket, storage space for two full-face helmets, full LED lighting and Smart Key operation. As an option, the Forza 350 can wirelessly connect its rider to various smartphone functions via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. A new colour option adds fresh appeal for 22YM.
  1. Introduction

The Forza name has long been a powerful force in Honda’s two-wheeled line-up. Its history as a premium, mid-size scooter goes back to the year 2000: the first model set the template, delivering a lively ride, plenty of storage room and an innovative combined braking system. It was well received throughout Europe, where owners found its multi-role capability useful in every aspect of daily life.

While retaining its trademark mix of sporty and GT character, the Forza 300 has constantly evolved, aiming to exceed owners’ expectations with every upgrade. In 04YM it gained Honda’s S MATIC electronically controlled CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a theft-deterring Smart key, highly efficient PGM-FI fuel injection for the engine and space for two full-face helmets under the seat.

05YM saw the addition of ABS brakes and, in 08YM, luxurious touches like an audio package and speakers plus upgraded S MATIC (with phased auto shift mode) and Combined ABS brakes were added. In 16YM it moved on again, as the Forza 300 with a new ‘sit-in’ design large enough to carry two people in total comfort, even at highways speeds.

18YM marked the unveiling of a radically revised Forza 300 – lighter, smaller, sharper and sportier – following in the hugely successful wheel tracks of its little sibling, the Forza 125, while retaining all the best attributes of its ‘GT’ nature. A ‘Limited-Edition’ model with Grey/Gloss Black colour scheme and matching Smart top box added an exclusive choice in 2020.

In 21YM it was time for another advance – the Forza 350. Faster, even more useful – with new features like Bluetooth connectivity and Honda Smartphone Voice Control system – and, of course, stylishly desirable with it.

Mechanically unchanged for 22YM, a premium new colour option adds further appeal.

22YM HONDA FORZA 350
  1. Model Overview

Developing 21.6kW and 31.9Nm, the Forza 350’s 330cc engine is strong all the way through its rev-range, delivering crisp acceleration and a top speed of 137km/h. It’s also EURO5 compliant.

Alongside the new engine, in 21YM, cosmetic and aerodynamic updates were applied to the front fairing sides, mirrors, rear side panels and engine cover for a sleeker overall look with even more premium appeal. The chassis was unchanged but connected to a lighter swingarm, and the adjustable electric screen gained an extra 40mm travel to improve wind protection.

The instrument panel was also refreshed, with the Forza 350 rider having the possibility of linking to their smartphone via Bluetooth via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system which is available as an option from new.

A USB Type-C socket provides convenient charging, with room for two full-face helmets in the under seat storage compartment.

The 22YM Forza 350 will be available in the following colour options:

Mat Carnelian Red Metallic **NEW**
Mat Pearl Pacific Blue
Pearl Cool White
Matt Cynos Gray Metallic
Pearl Falcon Gray

22YM HONDA FORZA 350
  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Electric screen adjusts through 180mm
  • Room for two full-face helmets under the seat; USB charging socket
  • Smart Key operation of ignition and (optional) 45-litre top box
  • Emergency stop signal function (ESS) warns other road users of sudden braking

The Forza 350’s lines flow back from its electric screen (controlled by a switch on the left handlebar) which adjusts through 180mm.

Sculpted for both style and aerodynamic efficiency, the Forza 350’s sharp design lines give a clean, smooth modernity, creating an impression of energetic sportiness and premium desirability.

Two full-face helmets can be stored under the seat, and it’s also possible to partition the storage area to house a helmet and/or rain gear and A4 sized bags. The front left inner fairing pocket is lockable, and its internal space can be arranged for the rider’s convenience, to hold a phone and water bottle, for instance. It also houses a USB socket. All lighting is premium LED.

Keeping its rider fully connected, the Forza 350 also has the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system available as an option from new, which links the rider to their smartphone while on the move and allows voice management of phone calls and music. A helmet-mounted headset is needed and the smartphone connects via Bluetooth; management of Honda Smartphone Voice Control System is from the left switchgear and dash.

The Forza 350’s Smart Key – as well as controlling the main ignition switch knob and compartment locking – also manages the optional 45L Smart top box. With the Smart Key in the rider’s pocket the box is unlocked, and automatically locks when the rider walks away. It can also be locked from the key. To maintain the internal volume of the box the actuator mechanism is located in the rear body of the machine.

The front and rear indicators of the Forza 350 have an auto-cancelling Emergency Stop Signal feature. Once the ABS modulator detects sudden braking, the rear indicators flash at high speed to warn other vehicles.

Instruments present analogue speedometer and rev-counter flanking a digital display that can switch between 3 modes: 1) odometer, range remaining and current mpg, 2) trip meter, average mpg and timer and 3) ambient temperature thermometer and battery sensor.

22YM HONDA FORZA 350

3.2 Engine

  • 330cc engine puts out 21.6Kw peak power with 31.9Nm torque
  • enhanced Smart Power+ (eSP+) technology ensures fuel economy of 30km/l (WMTC mode)
  • EURO5 compliance

The Forza 350’s eSP+ engine achieves both high environmental performance and strong output characteristic through comprehensive adoption of technologies for friction reduction.

Liquid-cooled the 330cc, fuel-injected SOHC four-valve unit produces peak power of 21.6kW @ 7,500rpm, with maximum torque of 31.9Nm @ 5,250rpm. Top speed is 137km/h and, from a standing start, the Forza 350 will cover 200m in 10.4s.

Bore is set at 77mm with stroke of 70.7mm; compression ratio is set at 10.5:1. Roller-type rocker arm, plain journal crank bearings and sealed crankcases deliver long-term reliability together with strong performance. To enhance piston cooling, an oil jet, as used on the CRF450R, sprays oil right to the back of the piston, advancing ignition timing and improving combustion performance. Oil capacity is 1.8 litres.

Air is supplied via a 5.5 litre airbox which feeds a 36mm throttle body. The intake port draws air efficiently, utilising a ‘tumble’ flow within the cylinder for more consistent fuel combustion. Exhaust gases are expelled via a straight exhaust port and, to reduce exhaust gas resistance, the muffler consists of two distinct chambers.

Internal friction is reduced through a 5mm offset cylinder, a hydraulic cam chain adjuster and the use of a scavenger pump. Used on high performance machines, the pump lowers the internal pressure within the engine, reduces oil agitation and decreases pumping losses and internal rotational friction. A balancer shaft further reduces vibration and contributes to a smooth enjoyable ride.

An automatic centrifugal clutch works a V-Matic transmission (with ratios set for fast low speed reaction and smart acceleration) and belt final drive.

The Forza 350’s engine is equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The system detects any difference between the front and rear wheel speeds, calculates the slip ratio and then controls engine torque via the fuel injection to regain rear wheel traction. HSTC can be switched ON-OFF via a switch on the left handlebar. A ‘T’ indicator in the digital display flickers when the system is working to manage grip.

Fuel economy is a frugal 30km/l (WMTC mode); the 11.5L tank capacity gives a potential 340km+ range.

22YM HONDA FORZA 350

3.3 Chassis

  • Short wheelbase with sharp steering geometry
  • Compact body dimensions paired with a practical seat height
  • Both wheels cast aluminium; 14-inch diameter rear and 15-inch front

A sturdy, yet lightweight, tubular steel frame is at the heart of the Forza 350’s reassuring feel on the road. Wheelbase is 1510mm, rake is 26.5° and trail 89mm. The radiator is located in front of the fuel tank for better cooling performance, and the battery is found between the fuel tank and the under-seat storage area, focusing mass to the centre. Wet weight is 184kg.

Seat height is 780mm and the riding position naturally upright, promoting excellent all-round visibility. Handlebar width is 754mm, with front width of 580mm and mirror width of 860mm; compact dimensions that make slipping through traffic-heavy streets easy.

Rigid 33mm telescopic forks are matched by twin rear shock absorbers – adjustable through 7-stage spring preload – working through 1-piece aluminium swingarm.

The cast aluminium 15-inch front wheel is fitted with a 120/70-15 tyre while the 14-inch rear wears a 140/70-14 tyre, offering maximum traction and ride comfort. A 256mm single disc performs stopping duties up front, mated to a 240mm rear, with the benefit of 2-channel ABS for braking control on slippery surfaces.

2022 Honda CBR650R

Model updates: Honda’s versatile middleweight sports bike continues to carve out a strong following. Specification includes 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston USD forks, high-revving four-cylinder engine, HSTC, assist/slipper clutch, underseat USB Type-C socket and LCD display. Both paint options receive visual updates for 22YM.
  1. Introduction

Honda’s fully faired CBR650F, launched in 2014 alongside the naked CB650F, provided a healthy slice of four cylinder middleweight performance, very much at the sporty end of the ‘sports touring’ spectrum. In 17YM it received sharper styling, highlighting the engine more, plus a peak power boost, Showa Dual Bending Valve front fork and revised Nissin brake calipers.

For its 19YM evolution the CBR650F became the CBR650R. The upgrade from ‘F’ to ‘R’ indicating an even more potent shot of sporty ability designed to be explored, used and enjoyed on the street.

In the process of its transformation the CBR650R became, deliberately, a rare breed: a four cylinder sports bike that provides similar pleasure, enjoyment and adrenaline to an RR machine, yet with enough practicality – and sensible running costs – to make it a viable option as day-to-day transport in addition to weekend fun.

It’s a direction that’s been well received. In its 19YM debut year, the CBR650R was the second best-selling sports bike in Europe. For 21YM, continued its development curve with user-driven detail improvements and a major upgrade for the front suspension.

For 22YM, the CBR650R – the best selling sports bike in Europe in 2021 – gains updates to both colour options.

  1. Model Overview

The CB650R received a significant refresh for 21YM. The major news was application of 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SSF-BP) USD forks – high quality suspension that really elevates the bike’s handling ability.

EURO5 compliance for the engine was achieved with no loss of top end power; other detail improvements included improved visibility for the LCD display and USB Type-C charging socket under the seat. The headlight reflectors, side panels and rear mudguard were all also updated.

The 22YM CBR650R will be available in two colour options:

Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic – with new orange highlights
Grand Prix Red – with updated graphic treatment

2022 HONDA CBR650R
  1. Key Features

3.1 Chassis

  • Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks
  • Four-piston, radial-mount front brake calipers and floating discs
  • 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 front and rear tyres

The CBR650R’s steel diamond frame uses pressed swingarm pivot plates and twin elliptical spars with a rigidity balance specifically tuned (stiffer around the headstock and more flexible in the spar sections) to deliver balanced handling characteristics, with high levels of rider feedback. Rake is set at 25.5° with trail of 101mm and wheelbase of 1,450mm. Kerb weight is 208kg.

Showa’s Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) 41mm USD forks offer high-quality reaction. A pressure separation damper in one fork tube and spring mechanism in the other deliver high damping performance and lighter weight. Together with the use of a larger sized piston the result is increased feel, bump absorption and control. Adjustable for 10-stage spring preload, the single-tube monoshock operates directly on the curvaceous gravity die-cast aluminium swingarm.

Four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers work 310mm wave-pattern floating discs, and are paired with a single-piston rear caliper and 240mm disc. The ABS is a two-channel system.

Cast aluminium wheels mount 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 front and rear tyres.

3.2 Styling & equipment

  • Minimal panels and rear mudguard/number plate mount
  • LCD display easy to read
  • USB Type-C socket under the seat

With its four-cylinder power unit clearly on display the CBR650R’s wrapping ramps up the pure sporting appeal; dual LED headlights emit a penetrating, uncompromising stare and the upper and lower fairings blend muscularity with slim lines and angles.

The seat unit, too is compact and truncates the rear of the machine, adding to the hard-edged sense of purpose. Trim side panels accentuate the minimalism, as does the steel rear mudguard/number plate mount.

The aggressive riding position starts with clip-on handlebars that mount beneath the top yoke, matched to rear set footpegs. There’s also a USB Type-C socket located under the seat, for easy charging of a mobile device. Seat height is set at 810mm.

Stylish, easy-to-read LCD instruments include Shift Up, Gear Position and Peak Hold indicators.

2022 HONDA CBR650R

3.3 Engine

  • 70kW peak power, 63Nm peak torque with 35kW A2 licence option
  • Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
  • Assist/slipper clutch
  • Full EURO5 compliance

The 649cc, DOHC 16-valve engine is tuned to create the purest, most enjoyable mid-sized four-cylinder performance possible, with the classically fast ‘pick-up’ through the rev range and hard-hitting, high-revving top-end for which Honda’s in-line’s fours are renowned. Peak power of 70kW arrives @ 12,000rpm with peak torque @ 63Nm delivered at 9,500 rpm. An easy 35kW conversion is available for A2 licence holders. EURO5 compliance required revisions to the ECU, cam lobes, intake timing, exhaust pipe, catalyser and silencer, as well as the addition of a crank pulsar.

Direct cam actuation makes for a compact cylinder head; bore and stroke is set at 67mm x 46mm with compression ratio of 11.6:1. Iridium spark plugs are employed and twin air ducts – either side of the fuel tank – feed the airbox and produce a throaty intake roar.

Asymmetric piston skirts minimise bore contact and reduce friction. Ferrous spines on the outer surface of the cylinder sleeves reduce oil consumption (and friction) with improved heat transfer and a silent SV cam chain reduces frictional losses by using a Vanadium coating on its pins. Internal water channelling from cylinder head to cylinders does away with most of the exterior hoses.

The engine uses a compact internal architecture, stacked six-speed gearbox and starter layout with the cylinders canted forward 30°. An assist/slipper clutch eases upshifts while managing rear-wheel lock up under hard braking and rapid downshifts. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) manages rear wheel traction; it can be turned off should the rider choose.

Fuel consumption of 20.4km/l (WMTC mode) gives a range of over 300km from the 15.4L fuel tank.

2022 Honda MSX125 Grom

Model updatesHonda’s pocket-sized funster rides into 22YM with its retro-cool style, quick-detach body panels, LCD dash and EURO5-specification air-cooled engine driving through a five-speed gearbox. A fresh new colour – Pearl Queen Bee Yellow – sweetens the deal.
  1. Introduction

Easy to use, fun and functional, the original leisure motorcycle was defined by Honda in 1963 with the iconic, small-wheeled Monkey bike and carried on – redefined for each respective generation – with the Dax, Ape and the Monkey, itself reborn in 18YM.

The formula has found resonance with the new breed of young riders. Known as ‘Generation Y’ in the USA, ‘Dek Neaw’ in Thailand and ‘Street-Kei’ in Japan, they have grown up in the borderless internet age, and share a culture, outlook and spirit that defies convention.

Instinctively drawn to motorcycling, they need their first two-wheeled transport to be exciting but not unduly challenging, with a design that sets them apart and a reasonable price tag. In 13YM Honda introduced the MSX125 (Mini Street X-treme 125) to cater specifically for such young riders.

A truly global product the MSX125 (known as the ‘Grom’ in Japan and USA) has been a hit across the world. In its first sales season the MSX125 joined the CBF125 in the ranks of Europe’s top 5 best-selling 125cc motorcycles. And, over the last few years, it has established itself as a firm favourite, whether used for simple urban transport or as a heavily customised style statement by its target market.

After 6 years of quiet success and several small styling evolutions, with an eye on the next wave of young riders, 21YM saw a new MSX125 hit the streets with an even cooler direction of travel, and a new name – the MSX125 Grom. For 22YM, a new colour sees it remain Honda’s little machine that continues to brim with big dreams.

  1. Model Overview

21YM’s completely redesigned bodywork gave the MSX125 Grom a new design language: fresh and fun, and also easily removed ready for an owner’s creativity to get to work. The LCD dash was also updated to include a rev-counter and gear position indicator.

A new air-cooled engine maintained usable, real-world performance but added a fifth gear to help longer-range riding. And the chassis – tried and tested – offers the same small-bike dimensions with big-bike suspension, braking and handling qualities.

The 22YM MSX125 Grom will be available in the following colour options:

Pearl Queen Bee Yellow **NEW**
Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic
Gayety Red

22YM HONDA MSX125 GROM
  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Bodywork injects fresh individuality
  • Easy custom potential; all four panels attach with just six bolts each side
  • LCD dash includes rev counter and gear position indicator

There’s a cool kind of quirkiness about the MSX125 Grom’s bodywork; a distinctive individuality that mixes the modernity of sleek LED headlight, pared-down seat unit and subframe with the retro of the super-compact side panels and tank covers. And, influenced by customers’ ongoing efforts to make their bike unique, the MSX125 Grom is designed around the concept of adaptability and easy customisation – all of the bodywork attaches with six bolts each side, a detail highlighted by large bolt surrounds for another unique design touch.

The gold finish to the USD front forks, and yellow shock spring stand out in bright contrast to the blacked-out engine, exhaust, wheels and swingarm. Easy to read for its compact size the LCD digital dash includes a rev-counter and gear position indicator, alongside the speedometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and clock. Resetting of the trip meters and clock, or alternation between odometer and trip meter, is managed by the switches either side of the display.

3.2 Engine

  • 125cc, air-cooled fuel-injected two-valve engine; 7.2kW peak power/10.5Nm torque
  • Five-speed gearbox for higher-speed cruising
  • EURO5 compliance

The MSX125 Grom’s 125cc, two-valve air-cooled engine uses a 50mm bore and 63.1mm stroke, with compression ratio of 10.0:1. Peak power of 7.2kW arrives at 7,250rpm, with peak torque of 10.5Nm at 5,500rpm.

It packs a perfect blend of zippy roll-on performance with useful, accessible all-round ability. Really, this unit all about the fun of twisting a throttle; the five-speed gearbox amplifies the pleasure (and usability) and allows top speed of 94km/h.

Manual clutch operation imparts a full-sized motorcycle experience, while the 15T gearbox sprocket, 38T final drive sprocket and 12-inch wheels deliver lively around-town response plus the ability to travel slowly in a high gear – perfect for threading easily through tight traffic.

It’s also economical, returning 66.6km/l (WMTC mode) by using low-friction technologies, such as an offset cylinder and roller-rocker arm for the valve gear. Sophisticated PGM-FI guarantees highly efficient combustion, and works in conjunction with both air intake and exhaust to deliver an involving experience at the throttle. A large, 2.5L airbox and panel-type, wet paper filter provide reliable and quiet airflow; the filter itself has a life of 10,000 miles. The exhaust downpipe and muffler are two separate parts.

The MSX125 Grom is homologated for EURO5, which from January 1st 2020, introduced significantly stricter engine emissions standards compared to EURO4. These requirements include substantial reductions in permitted carbon monoxide emissions, an over 40% decrease in total hydrocarbon emissions, tougher misfire detection and the introduction of a particulate matter limit.

3.3 Chassis

  • Steel mono-backbone frame provides central strength; 761mm seat height
  • Quality suspension performance from 31mm USD forks and rear monoshock
  • 12-inch wheel rims and hydraulic disc brakes front and rear

The MSX125 Grom’s well-proven chassis was essentially unchanged during its 21YM makeover, and the original priorities of design remain relevant: provide the base for a practical bike that new riders could use – and park – with ease in an urban environment, but be just as useable and enjoyable out of town, and also readily accept a pillion.

A steel mono-backbone frame ensures the MSX125 Grom’s core strength. Its rigid, square-section tube joins the headstock directly to the swingarm pivot plates and every other part in effect hangs visibly from the frame, greatly contributing to the minimalist look. Specifically tuned vertical/horizontal rigidity and flex in the swingarm pivot and engine hanger plates provides the perfect balance of comfort and confidence.

The frame structure also enables efficient storage of PGM-FI-related components and electrical parts inside the tank cover and fuel capacity is increased (6.0L). Wheelbase is a snug 1200mm, with rake and trail of 25°/81mm. Kerb weight is reduced to 103kg. A low 761mm seat height makes the MSX125 Grom very manageable; its size also ensures that motor home owners find it easy to load/unload, transport and use.

Suspension front and rear delivers ‘beyond class’ quality. The 31mm USD fork reduces unsprung weight and, thanks to the pistons’ greater pressure-bearing area (compared to a standard telescopic fork) offers improved damping feel throughout the stroke. The top and bottom yokes are full-sized, further enhancing handling and rider feel while a lightweight and robust single rear shock operates a simple and tough H-shape, 50mm x 25mm steel box section swingarm.

Fundamental to the MSX Grom’s form and function are its 5-spoke (re-styled) 12-inch cast aluminium wheels, which feature wide 2.5-inch rims. Front 120/70-12 and 130/70-12 rear tyres also inject dynamic looks and performance. Hydraulic dual piston front (finished in gold) and single piston rear brake calipers work front 220mm and rear 190mm discs. The ABS system operates through an IMU.
