Qooder, at Eicma the largest offer of electric scooters in the world

Tuesday 5 November, at 9, 20 minutes, 15 seconds, with the typical Swiss precision, Qooder will present the largest range of electric scooters in the world at EICMA 2019 (Fiera Milano-Rho, Hall 11 – stand E 47). Three battery-powered models, two of which are new, are part of the broader “Advanced Mobility Solutions” strategy, which includes the simultaneous launch of four other models, for a total of seven new features.

The anticipated battery-powered scooters are the eQooder four-wheeler, the three-wheeler QVe and Oxygen, with monthly instalments ranging from 50 to 450 euros (and a total price range from 4 to 20 thousand euros). We are talking about an absolute novelty in the entire panorama of the industry: these are the most powerful electric vehicles in their category: 60 Hp for eQooder and 46 Hp for QVe with record torque points (110 and 106 Nm respectively). Not to mention the enormous work done on the weight since there is little difference between thermal and battery models on the scale: just 5% more for eQooder and 3% for QVe, but the engine power is practically double. Reverse gear and regenerative braking debut on both models, while in terms of range, eQooder scores 150 km and QVe 110.

The squadron of other innovations includes the debut of the “second act” of the Qooder model, the off-road version of xQooder, the new QV3 and Nuvion.

In short, a clean break from the past, in the form of many initiatives, starting from the product. And for the first time in almost 10 years, the Swiss company has changed its skin, with a revised style, a range of electric scooters and two new product lines, Xqooder and Nuvion.

“The company – explains Paolo Gagliardo, CEO of the Swiss company – is ready to define new mobility horizons while maintaining the goal of designing, engineering and creating products of excellence in the global technology landscape. This is the basic strategy behind this maxi product offer”.

An offer that is the deepest expression of an innovative concept of urban and suburban mobility and that is part of the basic strategy of the Swiss company that aims to facilitate travel through the development of advanced solutions aimed at exciting, overcoming the stress caused by daily commuting and ensuring stability and comfort on the road. This is also why Qooder has announced its international landing in the US, ASIA and UAE markets with its flagship vehicles, capable of attracting a sophisticated and at the same time innovative audience. In short, a revolution that deserves further study, model by model.

NEW QOODER

The second act for Qooder, the world’s only 4-wheeler that combines the best of the world of cars with that of motorcycles: the Swiss company’s flagship. Its characteristics include the dual-rear-wheel drive with mechanical differential and an all-wheel braking system on 4 wheels. The new Qooder features the innovative electronic hydro-pneumatic suspension system eHTS™ -Electronic Hydraulic Tilting System- that allows a simultaneous tilt of all wheels while maintaining perfect adherence to the road. Thanks to the new electronic version, during stops or parking, the tilting system can be blocked by a simple electronic button, at any leaning angle, as long as the scooter is stationary.

From a design point of view, the entire style of the front and rear is a new feature, with technical and qualitative improvements. In short, much more than just a simple makeover. The fact that it can be driven with a car license remains the outstanding feature.

NEW EQOODER:

eQooder is the first and only vehicle in the world with four tilting wheels and zero-emission, powerful and sporty. eQooder an autonomy of up to 150 km, with recharging of the batteries in less than 6 hours (which can be connected to any standard 220V power outlet), with reverse gear and regenerative braking. The vehicle features a powerful 45 kW engine with a 110 Nm torque. It is also equipped with the eHTS -Electronic Hydraulic Tilting System- and the Californian motor technology of Zero Motorcycles, a company specialized in the 2-wheel electric vehicle industry for over twelve years. eQooder is ideal for city-centre travel and daily commuting, with the possibility of choosing between 3 driving modes: Eco, Sport and customizable. It also features a 5.6-inch LCD screen and LED headlights. On the eQooder there are all the aesthetic innovations of the new Qooder range and, just like its thermal brother, you can drive it with a car license.

NEW XQOODER

After the “prototype” version debut at the last EICMA, the xQooder is presented in the standard version. It guarantees the same level of stability as a traditional Qooder but, at the same time, enhances its fun features, in a more “extreme” version, optimal for off-road. A design that revises the ergonomics of the vehicle specifically enduro with off-road steel guards: motorcycle-riding position, with saddle, handlebars and footrest that allow you to adapt the ergonomic triangle according to the type of driving. The front has a protective line to accommodate the eHTS™ -Electronic Hydraulic Tilting System- with Multi-road technology, present on the front and rear. The system ensures better performance on typical dirt tracks. The back has a high tail that gives the vehicle lightness and dynamism. Note the tank moved from the rear to the centre, for greater stability, even in standing driving.

NEW QV3

The same numerous changes in style incorporated in the Qooder, offering the classic family feeling, have been also placed on the 3-wheeled new QV3.With a renewed design, it is the lightest among its competitors and has a low centre of gravity for smoother driving. The new QV3 is unique on the market, it is equipped with the largest wheels in its class – 14″ and 15″ wheels – with a full braking system on 3 wheels and features an under-seat compartment that can comfortably accommodate two helmets. This vehicle is also equipped with the newly revised eHTS™ -Electronic Hydraulic Tilting System-.

NEW QVe

New to this edition of EICMA, the Qve, the only 3-wheeled electric tilting vehicle in the world market, created from the same Californian Zero Motorcycles technology as the eQooder, combined with the architecture of the Swiss product. Qve has a 110 km range and can be connected to any 220V power outlet. It has a powerful 34 kW engine with 106 Nm torque, a reverse gear, regenerative braking and the eHTS™ -Electronic Hydraulic Tilting System-.

NEW NUVION

Also debuting is the Nuvion, the lightweight and compact 3-wheeler that you can drive with a car license. Nuvion has an extremely compact size and weight, just consider that the power-to-weight ratio is at the same level as the “best-in-class” 2-wheeled scooters.  This small 3-wheeler makes compactness and fluidity its best qualities. It has a very low and very spacious saddle, well suited for women and smaller people, and can comfortably hold two helmets.  It has a 29 Hp 300cc engine, dual Led headlights, both front and back, and two 4.3-inch LCD displays, side by side, in the classic position. Again, the suspensions are electronic, with the new eHTS™ -Electronic Hydraulic Tilting System- version.

OXYGEN

Lastly on display at EICMA 2019 is the electric Oxygen. The vehicle is very light, weighing only 93 kg, including batteries, and has an 80 km range, equipped with a 4-inch LCD display and featuring combined double-disk braking. Characterized by a particularly bright range of colours, the newborn Oxygen comes with 2 removable “swap” batteries with fast charging in less than 6 hours, which can be connected in the garage, home or at work. The zero-emission vehicle has free access to restricted traffic areas, historic centres and islands.

Suzuki announces new V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050 at Eicma

Suzuki has unveiled two new V-Strom models today, with a new V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050 announced at Eicma in Milan, Italy. Developed to the design concept of ‘The Master of Adventure’, main features include:

Design heavily influenced by Suzuki’s iconic DR-Z desert racer and DR Big, with a new vertically stacked rectangular LED headlight and distinctive ‘beak’.
New Euro5 version of the flexible and characterful 90° V-Twin engine producing 107.4PS (79kW), a 7% increase over the previous generation.
New ride-by-wire throttle with three selectable engine modes and a three-mode traction control system.
The flagship V-Strom 1050XT gets new Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) which features a full suite of electronics including an inertial measurement unit (IMU), lean-angle sensitive ABS with two settings, linked brakes that can detect and adapt to load and inclines, plus hill hold control and cruise control.
The new V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050 were designed and built to allow any rider to maximise their own adventure, wherever it may take them.

V-Strom 1050XT
Electronics
The V-Strom 1050XT is equipped with a comprehensive electronics package and uses the new Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), which is aimed at enhancing everything from rider comfort to performance and practicality.

A new ride-by-wire throttle delivers a natural and linear feeling, while slow speed riding is aided with a more stable idle. The ride-by-wire throttle is part of a wider Controller Area Network (CAN); an interconnected information network that replaces standard wiring, with the benefit being fewer wires and faster data transmission. Also part of that network is a new six-direction inertial measurement unit (IMU) from Bosch. This compact unit monitors pitch, roll, and yaw based on lean angle and acceleration.

Information from the IMU helps govern Suzuki’s updated Motion Track Brake System, which includes lean-angle sensitive ABS. The system also automatically applies pressure to the rear brake to help controlled deceleration when front brake pressure rises to a certain degree. The system supports the rider, should they suddenly brake mid-corner, helping them to continue on the intended line with minimal kickback at the lever.

Riders can select from two ABS modes, depending on the surface and riding conditions.

The V-Strom 1050XT’s Motion Track Brake System also includes slope-dependent control, which optimises pressure across the front and rear brakes to maintain control and avoid rear wheel lift under heavy braking downhill, and load-dependent control, where the ABS unit constantly learns changes in deceleration through the input of hydraulic pressure as the load increases or decreases, when riding with luggage or with a pillion. The system remembers the optimal relationship between the deceleration and hydraulic pressure.

The system also features hill hold control, which means the brake is automatically applied when stopped on an upward slope to prevent roll-back and aid easier starts, especially when laden with pillion and luggage, and rider comfort during long-distance touring is further taken care of with the addition of cruise control.

A three-mode traction control system replaces the previous two-mode system. It can also be turned off. Riders can also select from one of three engine modes, which alter throttle response while still delivering the same peak power. The new V-Strom also gets the latest versions of Suzuki’s low RPM assist and easy-start function.

Styling
While unmistakably V-Strom, the new design is a thoroughly modern take on the styling of the legendary DR-Z race bike and DR Big production machine. The beak – now synonymous with adventure bikes – was first seen on the DR-Z, and the new design further highlights the association but with a more aggressive and standout image. The shape of the fuel tank, too, apes the design of the DR-Z.

The colour options of the V-Strom 1050XT in particular pay further homage to the ‘desert express’ and highlight Suzuki’s rich racing and adventure heritage. It comes in a similar orange and white to the original DR Big, while a yellow version links to Suzuki’s motocross and off-road pedigree.

The handguards, which come as standard, are re-designed and are more angular and rugged, while the mirrors are also new.

Careful thought went into the finish of the V-Twin engine, with new bolts completing a look that sees the cylinder heads, clutch cover, alternator cover, and water pump case finished in a classy bronze.

Completing the striking new look is a new vertically stacked rectangular LED headlight plus LED tail light and LED indicators.

Engine and performance
The new Euro 5-compliant 1037cc, 90° V-Twin engine in the V-Strom 1050XT puts out more power than the outgoing V-Strom 1000, with peak power up by 7% to 107PS, while it maintains its easy-to-use, flexible character and strong linear drive.

This is achieved with reprofiled intake and exhaust cams, with increased lift duration and less overlap. Twin-plug heads remain, along with lightweight three-ring-type forged pistons. A new radiator increases cooling capacity by 15%, and there is a new oil cooler. A slipper clutch aids smoother downshifts and lighter lever action.

Chassis
The V-Strom 1050XT’s chassis – a twin-spar aluminium frame mated to an aluminium swingarm – is lightweight, compact, and narrow, making it easy for riders to manage in all situations. It’s slim design allows riders to get their feet down comfortably when stationary, and contributes to the V-Strom’s agile handling.

It is suspended by 43mm fully-adjustable, upside down forks from KYB. The rear shock is preload and rebound damping-adjustable. Front brakes are radially-mounted Tokicos, biting twin 310mm discs for dependable stopping power.

A tapered handlebar is rigid and lightweight, with ergonomic considerations taken into account when riders are both sitting and standing. New footrests have a tougher design and make it easier to stand when off-road.

Wheels are lightweight DID aluminium, wire-spoked rims, with a 19” front and 17” rear for dependable performance on a variety of surfaces and in different riding conditions. They wear Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 radial tyres.

Utility
Careful consideration was given to practicality during development of the V-Strom 1050XT. There’s a height-adjustable seat (plus a lower option available as an accessory for further adjustment), and an extensively wind tunnel-tested height-adjustable screen that can be adjusted without the need for tools to one of 11 settings. A new multi-function instrument cluster presents all required information on a full LCD screen using a clear and intuitive layout. A USB outlet, situated on the left of the instrument cluster, allows for easy charging of electronic devices plus a 12V DC outlet is located under the pillion seat.

Further aiding practicality is the slim fuel tank with a 20 litre capacity, giving a range of over 250 miles (400Km) between fill-ups based on the official WMTC fuel consumption of 57.65mpg (4.9L/100Km)*.

A centre stand, handguards, and engine bars, plus integrated luggage mounts that make for easy fitment and removal of panniers, add even more practicality as standard to the V-Strom 1050XT.

V-Strom 1050
The V-Strom 1050 shares many of the features of the flagship V-Strom 1050XT but with some differences to enable a lower price. The V-Strom 1050 shares the same engine and chassis platform as the XT model but replaces spoked wheels with cast aluminium items. Whilst keeping the same three-mode traction control system and three selectable engine power modes, the V-Strom 1050 loses the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System and its cruise control and Motion Track Brake System with linked brakes, hill hold, slope and load control and switchable ABS modes.

The DR-Z-inspired design is finished in either white and black or grey and black colour schemes, the LED taillights are finished with red lenses instead of the clear finish of the XT, and the LED indicators are swapped for more traditional items. The mirrors are changed, also.

It also loses the standard-fit engine bars, centre stand, handguards, and lower cowling of the XT.

Genuine accessories
A comprehensive catalogue of genuine Suzuki accessories will be available for both models, including heated grips, side stand extender, aluminium and plastic luggage kits plus two tank bags, sump guards and engine bars, fog lamps, mirror extenders, and decal kits.

Availability
The new V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050 are due to arrive in authorised Suzuki dealerships in the spring, with pricing to be announced.

*Data resulting from tests made by Suzuki in compliance with WMTC. Fuel consumption may vary depending on your riding style, how you maintain your vehicle, weather, road conditions, tyre pressure, the presence of accessories, the load, the weight of the crew and many other parameters.

Honda’s Rome R&D Centre proudly unleashes the CB4X at EICMA

For the fifth successive year, Honda will use the ‘Design Studio’ area of its EICMA stand as the backdrop to showcase something totally new – in this case, the bold CB4X Concept.

The experimental machine – developed under the theme of ‘fun seven days a week’ – blends elements of Sport and Touring with a healthy dash of Crossover. It’s a design from the imaginative pen of Valerio Aiello, and his team of young designers, and is born from the desire to explore – and push – existing boundaries.

The CB4X features dynamic, yet compact lines, engineered to enhance the contrasting personality of a motorcycle that’s born to use every day on urban routes, but with which a rider can have fun on weekends carving mountain bends or devouring long journeys.

Its engine is a classic inline four-cylinder powerplant – the essential signature of the Honda Wing. The fuel tank hunches forward, like a cobra ready to attack its prey, while the screen is fully adjustable and integrates into the fairing. And the headlight is set like a diamond, injecting aggressive sophistication alongside the Daytime Running Lights (DRL). A beautiful aluminium subframe underpins the short, sharp tail while the 17-inch front wheel maximises steering precision.

The Honda CB4X is an idea dedicated to those riders who live for sports riding – but don’t want to give up the possibility of relaxing, two-up travel experiences whenever or wherever.

KYMCO Introduces at EICMA 2018 SuperNEX Electric Supersport Motorcycle

At EICMA 2018 KYMCO announced the launch of KYMCO SuperNEX, a fusion of “supersport” and “electric” that delivers everything modern supersport riders dream of.

“While people have no doubt that the next era of personal transportation is electric,” said Allen Ko, KYMCO chairman. “Many are still pondering over the profound implications of electric in the world of supersport motorcycles.” The quiet nature of the electric motor troubles motorcycle enthusiasts for the absence of the familiar roaring sound. Without the gratification of gear shifting, the simple twist-and-go interaction feels more utility-oriented, and sometimes even toy-like. Also, most electric motorcycles today lack the sustaining thrill of acceleration to the top-end after the initial rush. As a result, many sport bike lovers fear that supersport might lose its charm in the impending new electric era.

Delivering on Supersport Riders’ Dreams

By expanding on the insights of what people truly want, KYMCO has architected the most compelling direction for the era of electric supersport motorcycles. These design philosophies come to life in five tangible approaches:

  • Shifting is the art of motorbike riding
  • The best acceleration feels like a completion of a thought
  • Excitement comes from exploring limits with confidence
  • The sound is the voice of the machine
  • A great vehicle elevates the rider’s every occasion

Fusion of Electric Motor and Sport Transmission

First and foremost, SuperNEX was designed around the philosophy that shifting is the art of motorbike riding. Hence, the electric supersport bike has the most advanced 6-speed transmission that allows riders to enjoy every minute of their skill-honing endeavors. It comes with clutchless upshift and downshift features.

The slipper clutch further helps smooth out the ride on normal downshifting.

Motorcycle riders are often looked up to by others for their skills in commanding the full potential of the vehicle. They master the timing of shifting to utilize different power bands of the motor. They are driven by the improvement of their own skills and the pursuit of self-realization. To motorcycle riders, perfect gear shifting is a statement of status, exclusivity, and pride. The gears make motorcycle riding timelessly fascinating.

With the gears, SuperNEX provides the human-machine connection that all sportbike riders can’t live without.

Endless Acceleration through All Speeds

An unfortunate shortcoming of today’s electric motorcycles is that the inherent characteristic of the electric motor has a power curve that reaches maximum horsepower at midrange and then declines thereafter. As a result, on a single gear electric motorcycle, once it reaches a certain speed the surge of acceleration starts to fade noticeably. Moreover, this lack of power is most often felt at high-speed riding, which supersport riders enjoy the most.

SuperNEX is a totally different story. The 6-speed transmission allows riders to make use of the most optimal power band of the motor to extract the full potential of the vehicle. The gears help improve not only the efficiency and responsiveness, but also the acceleration and top speed. As a result, SuperNEX can go from 0 to 100km/hr in 2.9 seconds, from 0 to 200km/hr in 7.5 seconds and from 0 to 250km/hr in 10.9 seconds. Such insane performance at any speed is simply irresistible.

When acceleration feels like a completion of a thought, the SuperNEX experience is simply irresistible.

Full Engagement Performance

The capabilities of today’s supersport motorcycles exceed the skills of most riders. Therefore, to allow all sport bike lovers to confidently engage in the quest of the next level of skills, KYMCO created KYMCO FEP – KYMCO Full Engagement Performance – an advanced performance management system that allows the rider to engage the full potential of the vehicle.

With FEP, riders can always perform a perfect launch. During hard acceleration, FEP ensures there is no wheelie or wheel slippage. During hard braking, FEP prevents rear wheel lifting. When riding through uneven or wet surfaces, FEP provides maximum traction. Moreover, the degree of FEP engagement can be adjusted to riders’ preference.

KYMCO wants to extend the privileged pursuit of the ultimate thrill of supersport to a larger group of riding enthusiasts. FEP empowers all sportbike riders to enjoy the full potential of SuperNEX.

Active Acoustic Motor

The electric motor is born to be quiet by nature. This becomes an issue on a supersport bike because without sound, the character, sensation, and passion of the machine are lost. It becomes just a means of personal transportation, not an object of fiery desire. SuperNEX, on the other hand, offers the world’s first Active Acoustic Motor, which is designed to convey the heartbeats of the machine. The motor has a multi-frequency acoustics generator that reconstructs the dynamic sounds of the motor with great authenticity. It delivers the iconic supersport thrills and messages that every sportbike rider needs. The sound can be further tuned to rider’s liking for its character and volume.

On a supersport motorcycle, the sound is one of the most important media for the human-machine connection. The sound communicates the rpm level and the load condition of the motor. It constantly gives the rider situation awareness, so riders can determine their timing for shifting the gear and applying the throttle.

And, with the rpm rising and the speed climbing, riders hear the surge of the sound one crescendo after another. It is one of the most intense sources of thrill for the sportbike riders.

The sound also declares the unique character of the machine. Whether it is vrooming, roaring, rumbling, or screaming, every supersport bike has its own distinct sound that is different in tone, intensity, texture and delivery. It is not only a discrete projection of each machine, but also an outward declaration of the owner. The sound is the most important source of emotional engagement with a supersport motorcycle.

The sound is the voice of the machine. Active Acoustic Motor gives riders the sound that speaks not only for the heart of the vehicle, but also for the soul of the rider.

Adaptive Machine Personalities

Today’s supersport motorcycles let riders set certain electronic functions, but what’s lacking so far is the true personality changeover of the machine to follow the mood of the rider and the different aspects of the rider’s life. A departure from the conventional electric motorcycles, SuperNEX offers four modes of vehicle personality:

Poised, which turns off the world around you as you glide through the neighborhood, quietly projecting your inner strength.

Assertive, which turns on the attitude switch. Life is a perfect balance between power and civility.

Bold, which puts immense might under your grip, ready to release anytime in synchrony with your heartbeat.

Extreme, which means the beast is out, the desire is on fire, and others can only be seen in the rearview mirror.

Sportbike riders aspire to enjoy every riding occasion to its fullest. Sometimes riders want to be wild, but often they choose to be civilized. At certain occasions it is fulfilling to go all out, but in other situations they choose to be reserved. Being in total control is the norm, but riders also like the option to live on the edge.

This is the first time riders are given the freedom to tune the emotion of their supersport bike to create a diversity of vehicle personalities. Sportbike riders will have many ways to enjoy SuperNEX that truly reflects the diversity in their lives.

“With SuperNEX, KYMCO marks the beginning of the next era of supersport,” said Allen Ko. “We believe electric opens up a new era of boundless opportunities to win the hearts of the most discerning riders all over the world.”

Street or CAFE – Kawasaki adds to the W legend at EICMA

One of the most enduring and identifiable Kawasaki motorcycle families, the Kawasaki parallel twin, air-cooled W stable will house two more thoroughbreds in 2019 bearing the names W800 Street and W800 CAFE.

Having little in common with previous iterations, the newly born Euro4 compliant twins are “90% new” with a whole host of styling, technical and practical changes, many of which are, at first, hard to detect.

Sharing a completely new chassis, each machine has powerful new brakes – including a rear disc for the first time on a W – as well as ABS and, in another nod to contemporary riding, LED lighting.

Celebrating the fact that “original never goes out of style” both the stripped for action 773 cm3 bevel driven camshaft W800 Street and W800 CAFE can trace their roots back over half a century to the original 1966 W1 650; at the time the largest capacity four stroke machine manufactured in Japan.

Fully A2 licence compliant and with a targeted maximum power of 35kW*, the authenticity, classic style and seductive good looks of the new W800 Street and W800 CAFE are sure to attract new riders… as well as tempting existing licence holders who appreciate classic style and carefully considered simplicity of form and function.

Highlighted as 2019 arrivals Kawasaki made the initial announcement of the new W800 Street and CAFE at EICMA with full information to be released at the beginning of 2019.

Dainese To Unveil The New D-air® Range At EICMA

The Dainese Group is heading to EICMA to present the third generation of the D-air® airbag, a line of racing and road products that is now available for women as well. The Vicenza-based brand will also showcase Explorer, the collection designed for Adventure and Road touring. AGV will present the new AX9 helmet and the new graphics for the Legends line.

The 2019 D-air® range marks the debut of the third generation of the Dainese airbag, which possesses improved ergonomics and efficiency. The bag and algorithm were specifically designed according to use, taking into account the different ways it can be activated and the most exposed areas of the body. For the track, there’s now the new Misano 2 D-air®, the professional suit made of leather. The airbag is also making its debut in some of Dainese’s most iconic road products, from the Avro D-air® suit, to the leather Racing 3 D-air® jacket and the Carve Master 2 D-air®, the Gore-Tex garment dedicated to sport touring. The Tuono D-air®, the top-of-the-line, completes the collection. A number of garments are now also available for women, like the Misano 2 Lady D-air®, the first professional leather suit for women equipped with an airbag, the Avro Lady D-air®and the Racing 3 Lady D-air®. The products from the Lady line faithfully reflect the features of the airbags present in the men’s line, such as the bag, which possesses internal microfilaments protected by 27 patents.

These microfilaments are the distinctive feature of the D-air® bag, which forms the heart of the system. It’s the key feature that prevents it from losing its shape and guarantees controlled inflation along with even pressure and protection over the entire surface. Thanks to ongoing research and the analysis of more than 2,000 activations, the bag in the D-air® system is designed to only cover the areas of the body that actually need protection, allowing it to strike a perfect balance between safety and ergonomics, ensured by a system that is 37% lighter than the previous version. The completely invisible airbag is now better integrated into garments and guarantees comfort equal to that of a traditional jacket.

Dainese is also unveiling at EICMA Explorer, the new collection that is the fruit of research conducted in conjunction with MIT to develop space suits by analysing, studying and mapping “lines of non-extension”: areas of the body along which body movement causes neither stretching or contraction. The result of this knowledge is unbeatable lightness and comfort. The pieces in this collection were created to protect drivers and passengers from the most extreme climates and adverse weather conditions. The Antartica suit is the key piece of the Explorer collection and marries protection, comfort and style for the Adventure world, offering exceptional isolation from the outside temperature and atmospheric agents. The Antartica suit is joined by the Gran Turismo, which was designed for road touring and long days on the bike, keeping steering as easy as possible thanks to its superior fit.

Alongside Explorer will be the unveiling of the AGV AX9, the new helmet that, together with SPORTMODULAR, completes the AGV touring range. The AX9 helmet is designed for long trips, fulfilling the need for top-of-the-line comfort with its high quality interior and advanced ventilation system. The fibre composite shell makes the AX9 one of the lightest helmets in its segment. The Pista GP R and Corsa R, at the top of the racing range, in addition to two new Legends X3000 and X70 liveries, will also be showcased, together with the touring line.

All of the new Dainese Group products being introduced at EICMA 2018 will be on display in Pavilion 15, Stand I06.

Ducati presents exciting new motorcycles for EICMA 2018

The Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer has just presented – from a spectacular stage – the bikes that will soon enthral visitors at EICMA 2018 (Milan-Rho Trade Fair, 8 – 11 November).

The Ducati World Première 2019 was the final act of the Global Dealer Conference, an event uniting key Ducati dealers – about a thousand people – representing 734 dealers in 91 countries. Streamed worldwide on the internet, the event was held on the evening of Sunday 4 November at Milan’s Linear Ciak theatre. Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, unveiled the new 2019 range personally, illustrating company goals and celebrating a thrilling 2018 race season.

“Ducati has achieved a striking degree of maturity”, stated Claudio Domenicali on opening the Ducati World Premiere 2019. “It is a global flag bearer of some of the best aspects of Made in Italy excellence. Based on core values of Style, Sophistication and Performance, our company now offers a range as broad as it is state-of-the-art. This year sees the first major overhaul of the entire Scrambler range since its inception, plus a complete renewal of the Diavel and Hypermotard, two bikes that are firm favourites with Ducatisti. Today, safety and rider-friendliness have hit new heights, yet the brand’s sporting soul is as evident as it has ever been. The Panigale V4 R, in fact, is the most powerful factory motorcycle ever built by Ducati. We’re also delighted with our on-line presence, an area that has enjoyed excellent growth, thus confirming the extraordinary appeal of the entire Ducati product range.”

To get the show under way, the bikes already presented ahead of the Milan fair were illustrated: the new Ducati Scrambler range, with 4 new motorcycles spanning from the Icon version to the more distinctive Cafè Racer, Full Throttle and Desert Sled, and the Multistrada 1260 Enduro.
The new Ducati e-mountainbike, the MIG-RR, also played a major role in the presentation and will have its own special area on the Ducati stand at EICMA 2018.

Ahead of the unveiling of the all-new motorcycles, the Première also saw presentations of the new versions that will join the 2019 range. These include the Monster 25th Anniversary, first seen at WDW2018, and the new Monster 821 stealth that features matt black livery and red graphics, quick shift system, adjustable fork and nose fairing.

Another exciting 2019 bike is the new Multistrada 950 S. A major upgrade of the smallest Ducati ‘multibike’, this latest Multistrada features cutting-edge technology to boost safety and riding enjoyment: electronic Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS), Ducati Quick Shift up & down (DQS), full-LED headlight, 5″ colour TFT display, Hands Free system, Cruise Control and backlit switchgear controls. From a styling viewpoint, the new Multistrada 950 inherits the side ‘wings’ from its bigger 1260 counterpart, making the front even cleaner and more streamlined. It also features hydraulic control and, above all, Bosch ABS Cornering, which increases active safety.

The first of the all-new motorcycles in the Ducati 2019 range is the Hypermotard 950, now racier, more adrenalin-packed and rider-friendly. The Ducati ‘fun bike’ par excellence has been given a full-blown makeover: the new look takes its cue from the supermotard race world, the completely overhauled ergonomics ramps up the fun and riders can now count on an ultra-advanced chassis set-up and electronics package.
A full 4 kg lighter than the previous model, the new Hypermotard 950 mounts a renewed 937 cm³ Testastretta 11° engine with a more muscular 114 hp, combining greater pulling power with new electronics to ensure smoother control.
The Hypermotard 950 electronics package includes Bosch Cornering ABS with the Slide by Brake function, Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO (as standard on the 950 SP version and available as an accessory on the 950).
Now even higher-performing and with racing overtones, the Hypermotard 950 SP features a flat seat, increased-travel Öhlins suspension to ensure an acuter lean angle (+3°), Marchesini forged wheels and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO.

Another major development, unveiled during the Ducati World Première 2019, is the new Diavel 1260. Unconventional, unique and absolutely unmistakeable: as soon as it was launched at EICMA 2010 the Diavel stunned with its personality, design, sport naked handling and thoroughbred engine.
The second-generation Diavel 1260 remains faithful to the original spirit of that incredibly special bike, drawing on its key styling elements and putting a decidedly more contemporary slant on them: it now offers more assertive outlines and higher performance, is more fun on mixed-road routes and offers greater comfort for rider and passenger alike. Its sport naked soul is evident in the Testastretta DVT 1262 engine, capable of delivering 159 hp (117 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm (13.1 kgm) at 7,500 rpm. An immensely satisfying torque curve ensures both breath-taking acceleration and a low-rev smoothness that’s ideal for everyday riding or touring. An upgraded chassis set-up makes the Diavel 1260 more responsive on mixed-road routes while top-drawer technology and electronics provide braking performance on a par with that of a sport bike (and does so safely, thanks to Bosch Cornering ABS) and user-friendly engine performance control. The excellent riding position and ‘power cruiser’ ergonomics that helped make this motorcycle so successful remain unaltered: what has changed is the chassis set-up, characterised by a new tubular steel Trellis frame that goes perfectly with another Diavel hallmark, the 17″ inch rear wheel with its 240 mm wide tyre. The outcome? Superb handling, surprising lean angles and outstanding comfort.
A sportier S version of the Diavel 1260 is also available: features include fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at both front and rear, dedicated wheels and an even higher-performance braking system. Moreover, the S version mounts Ducati Quick Shift up & down Evo (DQS) as standard to allow clutchless shifting.

The new livery on the Panigale V4 S Corse aroused enthusiastic interest. Created using official Ducati MotoGP team colours, it mirrors the special version with the exact same colour scheme that Michele Pirro rode to victory in the Race of Champions at WDW2018. That bike and the other 11 variants that competed in the race were won by twelve lucky enthusiasts in a global auction that attracted record-breaking bids.

Nevertheless, the undisputed star of the Ducati World Première 2019 – and aspiring candidate for the title of ‘best-looking bike of EICMA2018’ – was the Panigale V4 R.

Compared to previous R versions, the Panigale V4 R is now even more specialised and bristles with technology taken directly from MotoGP. The modifications extend far beyond the engine and suspension set-up: they also include the fairing, designed and developed by Ducati Corse in close collaboration with the Ducati Style Centre to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The new fairing also incorporates the aerofoil appendages developed for the MotoGP prototypes. Made of carbon fibre, they increase stability throughout the ride, to allow for reduced reliance on electronic controls, boosting confidence for the pinnacle of rider performance
The Panigale V4 R is, to all intents and purposes, a road-legal WSBK category competition bike and constitutes the technical foundation for the official Ducati Superbikes that will compete in the World Championship as from the 2019 season.
The Desmosedici Stradale 1103 cm3 engine has been replaced with the 998 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale R to comply with displacement limits set by WSBK rules. Unlike the larger V4 – designed to provide fluid power delivery and excellent low-rev pulling power for optimal road use – the 998 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale R offers more extreme performance as power delivery has been designed with the track in mind. Moreover, it’s characterised by lighter internal components (which reduce overall bike weight by 2 kg compared to the Panigale V4S, bringing kerb weight down to just 193 kg). Greater air intake efficiency allows faster engine ‘rev-up’ and shifts the rpm red zone higher to ensure improved acceleration. The result is 221 hp (162 kW) of power at 15,250 rpm (EU homologation values), 2,250 rpm higher than the point of peak power on the 1103 cm3 V4. These impressive figures can be taken even higher by fitting the full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovič, which boosts maximum power to 234 hp (172 kW) at 15,500 rpm. In short: the most powerful Ducati factory motorcycle ever!

Solid and successful – with dream bikes of unparalleled design and eye-catching accessories and apparel that faithfully reflect their style and originality – Ducati looks forward to welcoming the public to the 76th edition of EICMA (Hall 15 Stand N06) and continuing the pivotal role this iconic brand plays in the international motorcycle industry.

An exclusive Ducati e-mtb ready for its debut at EICMA 2018

On Sunday 4 November 2018 the Ducati World Première in Milan (streamed live worldwide on www.ducati.com starting at 19.00) will unveil, in addition to the latest Ducati models for 2019, the new Ducati e-mtb, the MIG-RR, an enduro born out of close collaboration with Italian company Thok Ebikes.

E-mountainbikes let cyclists take on climbs that, without the motor boost, wouldn’t be possible and, at the same time, they allow everyone to live the off-road on two wheels in total freedom. E-mtbs sales are booming worldwide. Ducati has now entered this market segment relying on the experience of a specialized company, Thok Ebikes, born from the passion of the BMX and Down Hill champion Stefano Migliorini.

The Ducati MIG-RR, which will make its public debut on the Ducati stand at EICMA 2018 (Fiera Milano Rho, 8-11 November), is a true high-end e-mtb developed by Thok Ebikes specialists in close collaboration with Aldo Drudi’s D-Perf and the Ducati Design Center.

While the new Ducati e-mtb is an offshoot of the popular MIG series produced by Thok, it features some unique technical solutions: wheels with different diameters and suspension set-ups with different degrees of wheel travel (29″ and 170 mm at the front, 27.5″ and 160 mm at the rear) make it a true enduro that meets the needs of even the most demanding rider.

With high-level components such as FOX Factory Kashima suspension, carbon fibre Renthal handlebars, Mavic wheels, 4-caliper Shimano Saint brakes and an 11-speed Shimano XT gear set, the MIG-RR features a Shimano Steps E8000 motor – which puts out 250 Watts with a torque of 70N – powered by a 504 Wh battery.
The battery is positioned underneath the down tube. The resulting low barycentre makes the Ducati MIG-RR an easy-to-ride yet precise bike even on the toughest terrain.

The Ducati MIG-RR will be distributed throughout Europe via the Ducati dealership network starting from spring 2019.

It can also be ordered online at www.ducati.com from January 2019 onwards.

CB4 ‘Interceptor’ Concept Adds Futuristic Extra Dimension to Honda’s EICMA Line-up

The 2017 Honda stand at EICMA will again feature a Design Studio area show-casing the design work of Honda’s R&D facility in Rome.

This year’s exhibit is the CB4 ‘Interceptor’ – the result of ongoing research around the ‘Neo Sports Café’ design theme which first bore fruit in the ‘CB4 Concept’ shown at EICMA in 2015. The new concept model adds an evocative ‘Sport Endurance’ tone to the original design language of the CB4 Concept, creating a new perspective on the world of the Café Racer, on which the series is based.

The colour scheme is “total black”, combining elegance and sportiness while leaving room for a futuristic technology integrated into the flowing design lines. The front of the bike features a fan used to convert the motorcycle’s kinetic energy to power the touch-screen located on the tank. The screen provides constant connectivity, to allow the rider to follow the road through digital maps, make emergency calls or simply to connect devices.

Suzuki SV650X revealed at Eicma

Suzuki SV650X revealed at Eicma 1Suzuki has revealed its new SV650X for 2018, pulling the wraps off the café racer-inspired V-twin middleweight today at Eicma, in Milan, Italy.

Taking design cues from the SV650 Rally Concept – which the Japanese firm showcased at the Osaka Motor Show in 2016 – the SV650X follows the same concept with a design that pays homage to the tarmac rally cars of the 1970s. The ‘neo-retro’ styling sees the SV650X get a new bikini fairing and tinted screen, clip-on handlebars, and a tuck-roll seat.

The SV650X utilises the same punchy V-twin engine as the standard SV650, and gets Suzuki’s low-rpm assist and easy-start system. There are also new, preload adjustable front forks, which will feature across the SV range for 2018.

Suzuki GB marketing manager, Rob Cooper, said, “The SV650 is a hugely popular machine in the middleweight sector of the market, and it has been ever since the launch of the original in 1999. Thanks to its characterful and punchy V-twin engine and capable chassis, it combines a fun, sporty ride with affordability and practicality. The SV650X builds on that proven platform and brings retro styling to the range, with clip-on handlebars that not only add to the look, but create an even sportier feel. Preload adjustable forks will further enhance performance, with riders able to adjust to suit their own riding style and use, and that will apply across the SV range for 2018.”

The new SV650X will be on display at Motorcycle Live, which takes place from 18-26 November at the NEC in Birmingham, alongside the rest of Suzuki’s 2018 model range, including the award-winning GSX-R1000R and new GSX-S125 and GSX-R125 machines.

Z900RS CAFE displays True Spirit at EICMA show debut

Eagerly anticipated following sight of the Z1 inspired Z900RS at the Tokyo Motor Show, Kawasaki targeted the EICMA show to debut another model in the line dubbed the Z900RS CAFE.
Taking the modern classic style of the highly received Z900RS in a new and imaginative direction, the Z900RS CAFE can also trace is roots back to the Super Four model Z1 of 1972 but adds a twist to proceedings with a bold approach to colour and graphics plus a more focussed riding position thanks to its drop-style black finish handlebar.

A step away from standard, the low handlebar creates a sporty body position matched well by a bikini cowling and stylish seat complete with racer inspired rear hump. Making sound sense, the exhaust system is Kawasaki’s first tuned specifically for tone and fits the overall attention to detail of the Z900RS CAFE perfectly with its subtle brushed satin finish.

Multi-spoke cast wheels give the appearance of traditional wire spoked items while the meticulous attention to detail manifests itself with clever engine details and a clean overall appearance uncluttered by poorly routed hoses and cables.

As with the legendary Z1, the heart of the machine lays with its formidable engine. In the case of the Z900RS CAFE this is a unit equipped with KTRC traction control and an assist and slipper clutch. Contained in a lightweight tubular trellis frame and matched to 41mm inverted front forks and horizontal back link suspension, handling and performance are totally up to date.

Lighting the way a distinctive LED headlamp is mated to a Z1 style elliptical LED rear unit while the traditional speedometer and rev counter assembly is complemented by a central LCD information panel covering the vital functions of this confident arrival on the modern classic scene.

Of course for some riders the Z900RS CAFE will be merely the starting point for further personalisation and a wide range of Kawasaki genuine accessories will be available to personalise the vintage lime green machine.

“We were delighted at the worldwide acclaim for the Z900RS when it was launched just a few weeks ago”, commented Director of Kawasaki Motors Europe, Morihiro Ikoma.

“The Z900RS CAFE widens the appeal of the new RS offering and personifies the True Spirit model tag line. Kawasaki took its time to enter the modern classic scene but the wait was worthwhile. The Z900RS CAFE and Z900RS have a unique heritage and an authenticity that sets them apart as the genuine article.”
