Bridgestone to become sole tyre supplier to the Hawkers European Talent Cup

A three-year agreement sees a new era begin for one of Dorna Sports’ most successful talent promotion projects

The Hawkers European Talent Cup will begin a new era in 2021 as the Cup gets ready to race on Bridgestone tyres. A new agreement sees the world-renowned tyre manufacturer come on board for three seasons, becoming a vital part of one of Dorna Sports’ most successful talent promotion projects.

The HETC began in 2017, a vital new facet of the FIM CEV Repsol on the Road to MotoGP™. The Cup has already created Grand Prix podium finishers and seen riders move up the ladder to the Moto3™ World Championship thanks to its cost-effective, close racing. Creating the perfect environment for young riders to hone their craft, the HETC has become one of the most established steps towards young talent being able to begin their careers as professional motorcycle racers.

Now the HETC will begin a new era with Bridgestone, with the tyre manufacturer bringing on board their Grand Prix experience – including as the single MotoGP™ tyre supplier from 2009 to 2015 – and an amazing history of worldwide success across an array of different motorsport disciplines. The HETC can look forward to at least three more seasons of action-packed, scintillating racing in one of the world’s most experienced and expertise-driven pair of hands.

Nico Thuy, Head of Motorcycle at Bridgestone EMIA: “We are proud to partner up with Dorna Sports for the Hawkers European Talent Cup and to become part of the network to train future Champions.  Motorsport is part of our heritage and we are looking forward to the new season to bring Bridgestone’s cutting-edge tyres and new talent together to make a great match.”

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director of Dorna Sports: “The HETC has been such an incredible success since inception and we’re delighted to welcome Bridgestone on board for the next three years. This will be the beginning of a new era for the Cup, creating more Champions of the future, and Bridgestone will be a vital partner in continuing the HETC’s incredible success in finding and honing the Grand Prix talent of tomorrow.”

Bridgestone introduces new tyres at INTERMOT

At the International Motorcycle, Scooter and E-Bike Fair – held on October 1-5, 2014 in Cologne, Germany – the world’s largest tyre manufacturer will be presenting a full range of products, including three brand new additions to Bridgestone’s motorcycle family.

A tyre for every rider
Bridgestone will be presenting the full extent of its motorcycle ranges showcasing the variety of riding styles it caters to.

The test-winning(1) Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO will be presented, whose extended rear tyre wear life and improving handling and cornering grip at high camber angles makes it one of the top products on the market. The Battlax Racing V02 will also be shown on the booth. This tyre gives superbike riders faster lap times and longer tyre life thanks to Bridgestone’s latest MotoGP construction and compound technology. Also presented will be the Battlax BT45 touring bias, the low rolling resistance Battlax SC Ecopia for radial scooters, the Exedra Max for custom and the Battlecross X30 for motocross bikes.

New products
INTERMOT will also be the occasion for Bridgestone to showcase three brand new products. Indeed, on the stand you will be able to discover the latest additions to the Battlax range in the touring, racing and adventure segments. Make sure you don’t miss out on them!

Exceptional bikes
The booth will not only put the focus on tyres. Two exceptional bikes will also be displayed.

Proving that green doesn’t mean slow, the Saroléa SP7 electric superbike will be put forward on the Bridgestone booth. The agile electric machine shifts from 0 to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds, on its way to 250 kph at full throttle. To harness this power, Battlax V02 racing slicks were fitted to the bike and a technical partnership was struck up. The Saroléa superbike participated in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (IOM TT) in the electric race coming in 4th – a great feat considering it was the first time this bike was ridden to such an event!

The legendary Suzuki GSX-R Special edition will also be presented on the booth fitted with Battlax S20 EVO tyres).

Rossi rides the Bridgestone Battlax S20 EVO

When developing the S20 EVO, Bridgestone called on the expertise of its Motorcycle Tyre Adviser, nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi to help it transfer the technology it uses in MotoGP into a road tyre that everyone can use.

When it comes to using the combined MotoGP experience of Bridgestone and Valentino to produce the ultimate road tyre, Rossi said that “When pushing to the limit you learn a lot about everything. Yourself. The bike. The tyre. Sharing my experience, feelings and knowledge from the racetrack is important to those around me, it keeps the technology evolving”.

With Valentino’s help, Bridgestone’s S20 EVO has managed to deliver a tyre that improves upon the class-leading performance and safety of the S20, with the added bonus of greater durability and stability. We’re happy to say that the best got even better!

As you can see in the promotional film and photos for the S20 EVO, Valentino had some fun while testing as well, putting the tyre through its paces on a Yamaha YZF-R1. If you ride a motorcycle yourself and would like to try out the latest tyre to get Valentino Rossi’s personal stamp of approval, check out the Bridgestone Europe website.

Bridgestone – the number one tyre and rubber manufacturer in the world – has formed a technical partnership with Saroléa, the Belgian motorcycle brand and designer of the Saroléa SP7 electric superbike, revealed for the first time on 26th April at the Mettet circuit in Belgium during the Speed Trophy. Under the deal, Bridgestone will provide technical support and tyre expertise for Saroléa’s track testing and ambitious racing plans which debut in 2014.

To harness this power Bridgestone will fit the SP7 with Battlax V02 racing slicks, constructed with its latest “GP belt” technology. Saroléa’s 2014 racing agenda includes the TT Zero Challenge at the Isle of Man TT series, the world’s most prestigious motorcycle races, and the FIM eRoadRacing world cup series.

The partnership initiative is seeded from Bridgestone’s commitment to a future with sustainable mobility. This is underpinned by the Corporation’s long-term environmental vision which focuses on ecological conservation, resource conservation and reduction of CO2 emissions.

“This Bridgestone partnership is an exciting opportunity to combine our MotoGPTM experience with our vision of sustainable mobility. The Saroléa superbike is blazing a trail for electric motorcycles and e-racing” says José Enrique Gonzales, Director Marketing, Bridgestone Europe.
