Italian Volt Set to Create Buzz at Goodwood Festival of Speed in UK Debut
The exclusive, hand built Lacama can be ordered in a number of different specifications and styles including Roadster, Café Racer or Scrambler. Each machine from the Milanese brand is created in a bespoke way with input from both the customer and a professional designer. To showcase this unique process, different variations of the machine will be built ‘live’ at the event for visitors to see first-hand.
The Italian Volt project began after company founder Nicola Colombo rode a prototype electric bike from China to Italy, securing a Guinness World of Record in the process. The 7691 mile journey through 12 countries earned the team a Guinness world record for the longest journey by electric motorcycle. The journey highlighted what could be achieved with an electric bike and the challenges they overcame, spurred the Italian Volt company into action.
The 15kWh Li-ion battery gives an approximate riding range of 200km/124 miles and is ready to go, fully recharged within three hours (or with an 80% charge in 40 minutes using a fast charge CCS charging station).
Only the highest specification equipment has been used to create the Lacama, with Öhlins suspension front and rear, matched to a Brembo brake system for high-performance handling and braking. A TFT touch screen dashboard with GPS and App compliant software interfaces with sensors including ‘Park Assist’, with a forward and reverse motor.
Orders for the Lacama are being taken now, with UK road legal models available later this year.
Italian Volt Owner Nicola Colombo commented; “We are really excited to visit Goodwood to see the reaction from the British public to our machines! We have spent a long time in R&D and the design process to create a machine which not only looks fantastic, but offers great performance and battery life; for a real world ‘biking’ experience, so the time is right to launch it to the public.”
