New Peugeot Speedfight 125
Peugeot’s best-selling Speedfight scooter is now available powered by a new 125cc motor. More than half a million Speedfights have been sold since its launch in the mid-1990′s, but this is the first time that Peugeot have produced it in this engine size – the most popular in the UK market (37% of all new motorcycles were between 51-125cc last year).
Peugeot created the sport scooter sector with their original 50cc Speedfight and the new 125 sticks to the same principles, combining sharp styling with performance parts. Its compact wheelbase (1290mm), light weight (114kg) and low centre of gravity (the 7.5 litre fuel tank is beneath the floor pan) provide responsive handling. This is enhanced by 32mm upside down front forks and 13” wheels fitted with sports profile 130/60 section tyres.
The efficient 125cc 4-stroke engine has been tuned for mid-range torque, while braking power is delivered by a 215mm shuricane brake disc with four piston radial calliper at the front, backed up by a 196mm rear disc with twin piston calliper.
Attention to detail is apparent throughout the Speedfight 125, with its fully digital dashboard, stainless steel bar end weights and dual function 12V socket, for charging accessories on the move. Twin optical headlights light up the road ahead and the crystal indicators use micro-bulbs for durability. The spacious dual-texture sport seat is big enough to carry rider and passenger in comfort and there are retractable aluminium footrests to improve pillion comfort. Beneath the seat is a lockable luggage bay that is sufficient to store a full face helmet.
Prices start at £2299 for the Speedfight 125, which will be available in a choice of Sapphire Blue or Dragon Red. Visit www.peugeotscooters.co.uk for information.
