New Aprilia RS 125 And Tuono 125

The new RS 125 and Tuono 125 are the latest heirs to the Aprilia tradition of making best-in-class 125 motorcycles, strictly built in Italy. Bikes designed for absolute fun, for the youngest riders and born out of the unique experience accumulated by Aprilia Racing which, in the 125 class alone, boasts 10 Rider World Championships, 10 manufacturer titles and 151 wins.

Bikes that have always stood out for their ultra fine chassis architecture, aggressive design and powerful engines. Aprilia has a true vocation for building eighth-litre bikes with which many riders, both current and from the recent past, have launched their careers to become champions.

The range of Aprilia 125 sport bikes has been entirely revamped. Painstaking work has been done on the RS 125 and Tuono 125 to improve performance, trim, safety, perceived quality and standard equipment.

Aprilia RS 125

The front end design on Aprilia RS 125 and Tuono 125 draws inspiration from that of the brand new RS 660 and Tuono 660, among the most highly anticipated and popular bikes with an aggressive and original look, emphasised by the iconic triple front light assembly. For both bikes, the lighting system is full LED with the front turn indicators built into the headlamps.

The dimensions of the front part on Tuono 125 have been entirely revisited to make it more compact, although still ensuring that protection from the air typical of all Tuono versions, just as the under cover dimensions have been reduced, now more tapered. Both models have new fully digital instrumentation with a wealth of useful trip information (including the fuel gauge, instantaneous and average consumption, and residual range). The instrument cluster is backlit with the rider’s choice of two colours (white or light blue) and installation ready for the Aprilia MIA multimedia platform; this lets you connect your smartphone to the vehicle via Bluetooth, turning it into a full-fledged on-board computer.

Tuono 125

RS 125 and Tuono 125 also stand out for their new, advanced, two-channel ABS,  developed in collaboration with Bosch and featuring a tip-over system in the event of emergency braking. Stability and grip on turns increases thanks to the new Michelin tyres, with the rear now widened to 140 mm. The work done to improve perceived quality is clear: the aluminium frame on RS 125 now boasts a higher quality paint job, as do the engine, the footpegs and the fork yoke on both models.

RS 125 and Tuono 125 are the only eighth-litre bikes on the market made in Italy and fitted with an aluminium frame made of die-cast aluminium spars with crossed reinforcement ribs, the result of Aprilia’s proverbial know-how in building superior chassis architectures, capable of ensuring maximum stability and handling levels, both on the road and on the track. Rounding out the superior-level chassis architecture are the upside-down fork and the monoshock mounted on the asymmetric swingarm.

The braking system is also derived from higher category bikes, counting on a radial calliper (connected to the master cylinder using a metallic braid line) that grips a 300 mm steel disc: the combination of these technical choices and the new ABS system make it the best in class.

Tuono 125

RS 125 and Tuono 125 boast the highest capacity fuel tank in the category (14.5 litres), a more spacious under-seat compartment, large enough for an 8″ tablet (with optional USB charging port) and they are the only ones with an electronic quick shift gearbox (optional).

The semi-handlebar on the RS 125 is now mounted in a position 18 mm higher to the advantage of riding comfort, but without compromising its well-known qualities in the most sporty riding situations.

RS 125

Making its début on both models is the new single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with four-valve timing, entirely revamped in the thermodynamics area, with a new head for the redesigned combustion chamber, new intake and exhaust ducts and a new iridium spark plug. The cam axles with more aggressive valve control are also new, whereas the entire intake line was redesigned and now has a brand new air filter. The throttle body is now located in a higher position in order to make the intake air flow to the head more direct. The exhaust line has been entirely redesigned and now has a new exhaust system with a new and more efficient catalysis system. The torque curve is now even more robust and maximum power is developed at lower revs which, among other things, allows for lower fuel consumption, thanks in part to the more refined electronic management guaranteed by the new Marelli MIUG4 ECU.

To exploit as much engine power as possible, the ratio of the final drive (featuring a chain with O-rings) has been increased, adopting a 58-tooth sprocket. On the road, this translates into more responsive performance when the throttle is twisted, providing more fun in sport and easier handling in city commutes.

Aprilia RS 125

Aprilia RS 125 is available in two liveries: Aprilia Black, characterised by the spectacular combination of black and red, and Sintesi Blue, distinguished by brighter colours. RS 125 is also available in the GP Replica version with graphics extremely similar to those of the Aprilia RS-GP MotoGP bikes and it comes standard with the electronic quick shift gearbox and the single-seat tail fairing to cover the passenger’s seat.

Aprilia Tuono 125 is available in three liveries: Aprilia Black, characterised by the combination of red and block; Lightning White with attractive matt white and grey colours, as well as the more sombre Arrow Grey, with glossy grey and black colours.

Aprilia Tuono 125

Aggressive, sporty, expressing dynamism and lightness with a unique and unmistakable style. 125 cc of pure fun in a true great Aprilia.

Designed, developed and built in Italy, Aprilia Tuono 125 offers the youth market and also fans of small engine capacities, the very best in design, build, components and technical equipment.

An exaggerated line
The line is unequivocally inspired by that of the Tuono V4 1100, the record-setting Street Fighter, the crown jewel of Noale production along with the highly decorated RSV4 from which it was derived.

A sporty look on the fairing, a futuristic frame underlined by the new black graphics, and a top performance engine: the new Aprilia Tuono 125 is the synthesis of a supersports bike without the fairing. It is a bike with an extremely strong personality, a true naked but with an aggressive spirit, capable of providing top performance on flowing rides and unattainable handling thanks to the riding set up, also effected by the wide and high handlebar.

The line of the Tuono 125 is distinguished by the headlight which, like its big sister, the Tuono V4, gives the bike a decidedly original and attractive look, improves active safety for night riding and makes the bike immediately visible during the day.

The details of the Aprilia Tuono 125, available in new Red Hero and Dark Warrior colours, are also special: The 14-litre petrol tank offers exceptional range and, thanks to its design, allows perfect integration between rider and motorbike. The storage compartment, spacious enough for a 6” tablet, is the largest in its segment. A practical USB port can also be mounted to conveniently recharge your smartphone or any other compatible device.

A benchmark chassis
The Tuono 125‘s frame, with a new and aggressive black colour, is a work of art inspired by speed and total control of performance. Made entirely of aluminium, this is exclusive to Noale’s new 125 ‘scallywag’. Designed on the basis of Aprilia’s experience on the track, the spectacular perimeter frame consists of die cast aluminium spars with crossed reinforcement ribs. The result is a lightweight structure, capable of providing high torsional rigidity in order to guarantee top performance.

The solid upside-down fork, completely redesigned and the rear suspension with monoshock secured to the asymmetrical swingarm, ensure top level performance, safety and comfort. The design of the 6-split-spoke wheels emphasises the gritty character of the Tuono 125. This configuration that also ensures superior lightness and speed when cornering, guaranteed by Michelin Original Equipment Tyres.

The braking system mounts a four-piston radial calliper on the front wheel, assisted by Bosch ABS, that grips a 300 mm diameter steel disc. On the rear, the new J.Juan calliper grips a 220 mm disc and has a tone wheel to guarantee anti roll over protection. The asymmetric swingarm ensures the greatest possible torsional rigidity, a technology clearly derived from racing. This delivers maximum performance and safety at every turn, and is something the new Tuono shares with its sister RS 125.

Ergonomics, total control and comfort on the road
While still boasting content of a supersport bike, APRILIA Tuono 125 was developed privileging rider and passenger comfort: a riding position that is not extreme, handlebar positioned to guarantee comfort and, at the same time, maximum control and complete control over the vehicle, rider footpegs designed not to fatigue the rider, rubber inserts on the rider and passenger footpegs to improve vibration damping.

Aprilia Tuono 125 is the only naked bike in its class to have a half-fairing attached to the tank, for greater rider comfort. The generous twin seat is integrated in the tail fairing, so as not to disrupt the bike’s clean and essential line; the passenger sits comfortably on the Tuono 125, with its wide and amply padded seat.

The tail fairing, another element that is closely derived from the Tuono V4 1100, optimises aerodynamics, mounts the practical passenger grab handles and provides a spacious, locking storage compartment.

Racing instrumentation
Compact and extremely lightweight, the new instrument panel offers all the functions of a real racing machine: from the analogue rev counter, to the multifunction digital display complete with speedometer, trip master (I,II), top speed, cooling circuit temperature gauge, fuel reserve light, OBD light and ABS malfunction light. The APRILIA MIA system control unit is also available as an accessory, to connect your motorcycle to your smartphone.

Motor
At the heart of the Aprilia Tuono 125 is a modern and technological 125 cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, with electronic injection and four valves: reliable and generous, it is equipped with particularly sophisticated technologies such as DOHC distribution. With ultra-modern conception and design, lightweight and compact, it has allowed development of a refined chassis. Its power, optimally calibrated, guarantees responsiveness even at low revs. Vibrations are reduced to the minimum by a balancing countershaft. Euro 4 homologated, it guarantees maximum performance while respecting the environment.

The Tuono 125 is installation-ready for Quick Shift, the innovative gear shifting system that Aprilia has used and perfected on tracks all over the world. Just like with its big sister, the Tuono 1100, the electronic system manages torque interruption for the engaged gear change, based on how far the throttle is open and the engine revs, allowing the rider to upshift while holding the throttle open and without using the clutch.

The exhaust, which is unmistakably racing inspired, is completely integrated within the lower part of the fairing. A solution with a strong aesthetic impact that effects the dynamic performance of the vehicle, based on the centralisation of the masses.
