Auritech Custom Fit Ear Plugs – A Review by Laramoto

Auritech Custom Fit Ear Plugs – A Review by Laramoto

Ever wanted a pair of ear plugs that are so comfortable that you forget you’re wearing them? Look no further than the Auritech custom fit earplugs. They fit snuggly inside the ear canal with a twist and push, totally filling your ear hole with your favourite customised colours. Did you know that your ears change as you age? The plugs you bought about 5 years ago are now well out of date. The fitting on my old ones wasn’t quite right and I knew I need an upgrade.

With my new Auritech custom plugs, I’ve certainly noticed the deadening of the right sounds and I feel protected, yet I can still have a decent conversation and hear what I need to hear on the road and track. I can still hear my Ducati burbles and the pop on the R6 of course. The moulding process is well, a hassle, but for custom plugs its the only way to go. Getting to a bike show is the most convenient way to get it done and Auritech have a studio in Guildford where they do free fittings. However there are many ear specialist stores local to you that will create your moulds and send them over to Auritech for manufacture.

The best bit? Zero risk of being pulled out when you pull your helmet over your face. Let’s be honest, the folded ear problem is real and made so much worse when perfectly placed earplugs dislodge and you’ve got to restart the neck scarf, ear plug and helmet positioning faff. No more issues with that thanks to the Auritech team!

The Auritech Custom Plugs are pretty small compared to the plugs I was using, my previous ones filled the space around my ear canal which helped a little when I was trying to get my greasy motorbike hands around them. The Auritechs are a little less easier to handle and easier to lose, so always keep your ear moulds for easy remanufacture. They come with a little bag to assist in not losing them.

I asked for some funky red white and black plugs to match my branding. They are unique to me in colour and design, plus the red and blue internal bore helps with reminding me which one is for the right or left ear. Inserting them into my ear felt uncomfortably deep but you do get used to it. The Auritechs comes with a handy wax scoop but you’ll be pleased to know I’ve saved those photos for my private collection. With years of motorcycle riding ahead of you, you’ll be grateful you invested in Auritechs.

You can use your equity release for custom-fit earplugs that are perfect for you. They can be a little pricey, but they’re worth the cost because they absorb sound better and fit more securely than traditional foam or silicone versions.

Auritech helps you protect the gift of hearing this Christmas

PPE, or personal protective equipment to give it its proper title, has been one of the buzzwords of 2020. Keeping ourselves and others safe has become our national duty during the Covid-19 pandemic and as we look towards happier times in 2021, specialist ear protection company Auritech is asking that we don’t forget to look after our hearing in the new year, when hopefully our favourite activities will start to return to normality.

Auritech recently conducted a survey among the British public, which has revealed that almost half of those interviewed have changed their opinion on personal protective equipment (PPE) since the start of the pandemic. The survey found that 48% of all respondents now had a more positive attitude towards wearing PPE and now Auritech is urging the public to ensure that they also consider protecting their hearing too.

Auritech’s range of earplugs are all equipped with a precision tuned filter to protect wearers from the damaging noise generated by activities while enabling them to hear essential surrounding sound such as conversation, in many cases enhancing the experience of the activity. Manufactured in the EU and CE certified, the range contains seven specifically tuned universal fit earplugs designed for particular activities, and all make a practical stocking filler for your loved ones this Christmas.

Auritech Intelligent Hearing Protection range

Biker: tunes out harmful high frequency wind noise, while still allowing the motorcyclist to hear traffic noise, engine tone and conversations through intercom systems.

Sleep: Promotes healthy sleep by softening background noise, including snoring, while allowing important sounds, like fire alarms, crying children and door bells to be heard clearly.

Travel: pressure regulating filter reduces risk of ear pain caused by pressure changes, removing disturbing background noise while allowing normal conversation to be held on aeroplanes and underground trains.

Shoot: Reduces gun blast noise while allowing wearers to hear conversations and nature sounds, enhancing shoot safety and experience.

Work: Reduces machine and tool noise while allowing the wearer to maintain communication and concentration, which can be a problem when wearing foam earplugs for sustained periods.

Music: For musicians and gig goers, the filter in Auritech Music plugs enhances the sound of the music while reducing overall volume, which would usually be above safe decibel limits.

Water Sport: Regular water contact inside the ear can cause bacterial build-up, irritation and damage. Protecting the middle ear and ear drum from water contact with hearing protectors is recommended.

All Auritech universal fit ear plugs are fully reusable, being constructed from easy to clean medical grade, silicone free hypoallergenic thermoplastic. They come in a stylish aluminium storage tube, which doubles as a keyring, all for £19.95 a pair.

Auritech open Covid-secure custom fit studio for bespoke ear protectors

Auritech, the specialist hearing protection manufacturer, have opened their first studio, in Guildford, offering custom fit filtered ear plugs to motorcyclists and participants in other loud activities.

The Surrey based company had planned to open the studio in March, but understandably put the project on hold in light of the coronavirus crisis. This weekend the facility finally opened its doors, following Covid-19 protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with those used by audiologists, including masks and face shields for staff, as well as mandatory face coverings for clients during the quick and painless fitting process.

Auritech opened the studio to meet demand for their custom fitted ear protectors, which feature a patented ceramic filter to reduce harmful high frequency sound while allowing speech and vital ambient sounds to be clearly heard. By ensuring a perfect, bespoke fit, Auritech’s Custom Fit ear plugs offer maximum comfort and sound attenuation for the wearer.

Motorcyclists have traditionally been fitted for custom fit ear plugs at motorcycle shows, but with the pandemic effectively ruling those out in 2020, the new studio allows customers to visit the Surrey studio, close to the biking hotspots at Box Hill and Newlands Corner, and receive their bespoke protectors through the post, approximately 21 days after fitting.

The first customer through the door was Henry Allen, 32, who rode over two hours from Rushden in Northamptonshire to get fitted for a new set of custom fit ear plugs. The Triumph Sprint ST rider said: “I’ve ridden motorcycles from the age of nine and I have used other universal fit ear plugs in the past, but they become uncomfortable after a while. So, after reading the numerous positive reviews of the Auritech custom fit biker ear plugs, I decided to get my own.”

Mr Allen continued, “I like that they have a smaller profile as it reduces the discomforts I’ve had when using other products. Overall, the experience at Auritech’s new custom fit studio was great and the team were very accommodating, and I’m now eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new ear plugs.”

Marielle Duggan, director at Auritech added: “We’ve been looking at opening a studio for quite some time now, to allow us to offer our custom fit product away from shows, but understandably this was not possible due to the lockdown restrictions in place. We opened at the weekend, putting stringent hygiene measures in place and ensuring that our staff and customers are wearing appropriate PPE, in the same way they would in an audiologist clinic or in a barber’s shop.

“The process itself is quick and painless. Our qualified technician injects a specialist moulding paste  into the ear canal to take an accurate impression and create a mould, which is sent to our laboratory and used to create a set of custom fit earplugs for the client, who can choose from a soft medical-grade silicone or a harder, UV-treated material with hypoallergenic coating. Each plug is fitted with one of our patented acoustic attenuation ceramic filters, which are tuned to block out harmful high pitched frequencies caused by wind noise, while allowing deeper tones, such as the bike’s exhaust note, sirens and speech to be clearly heard.”

In a world where PPE has become part of the ‘new normal’ Auritech is urging motorcyclists to remember to wear hearing protection while riding. Previous research has shown that wind noise can generate as much as 95dB at 62mph, enough to cause permanent hearing damage after just 15 minutes of riding without hearing protection. At 74mph, damage can be done after just seven minutes, yet recent research conducted by Auritech has concluded that nearly 30% of riders risk damage as they never wear earplugs, in many cases citing a dislike of solid foam plugs, which indiscriminately block out all sounds.

Fitting for Auritech’s custom fit earplugs is by appointment only, and can be arranged via email at info@auritech.co.uk  or by calling 01483 516434. Weekends appointments are also available. Custom fit earplugs cost £119 for a pair. They are available in a wide range of colours and come with a dedicated carry case and a free cord and clip if required.

In addition to the custom fit ear plugs, Auritech’s Universal Fit range is available over the counter. Universal Fit Auritech Biker plugs are available on the company’s website – www.auritech.co.uk and from retailers throughout the UK. They utilise the same patented ceramic filter as the Custom Fit plugs, in a tri-sectional reusable hypoallergenic plug designed to offer high levels of comfort and sound attenuation in ears of all shapes and sizes.

Auritech Biker Universal Fit were last year awarded the prestigious RiDE Best Buy award and are priced £19.95.
