The third edition of the Custom Rumble contest has its winner

The Scrambler 1100 FT customized by Italian Marco Graziani of CC Racing Garage is the winning bike of the third edition of Custom Rumble, the contest organized by Scrambler Ducati dedicated exclusively to custom bikes.

The live streaming award ceremony, presented by Scrambler Ducati Ambassador Dominika Grnova, was attended by 16,000 users. The jury of experts, composed by the actor Nicholas Hoult, the riders Chaz Davies and Andrea Dovizioso, the founder of BikeShed Dutch Van Someren and the Italian customizer of Officine Rossopuro Filippo Barbacane, chose the winning custom motorcycle by voting among the five finalists.

The bike customized by Marco Graziani of CC Racing Garage is part of the Bully category, the one dedicated to the Scrambler Ducati 1100, without any restrictions on the type of bike or style. The Italian customizer started from a Scrambler Ducati 1100 Special of which he customized the color, graphics, exhaust and seat. Instead he decided to keep the headlight, the rear and the tank similar to the original as he considers them as the key elements of a Scrambler Ducati.

The Scrambler 1100 FT had received the highest number of votes even during the qualification phase, when almost five thousand users of the Scrambler Ducati community voted on Scramblerducati.com.

As a prize the winner will receive a Beta workbench including the complete tool kit, a valuable and functional tool to continue to transform production bikes into something unique.

Custom Rumble: voting is open for the best-looking Ducati Scrambler custom bike

The Ducati Scrambler based specials created by participants in the Custom Rumble, the contest that every two years rewards the best-looking customized Ducati Scrambler, are ready to be voted on Scramblerducati.com.

The contest, registrations for which closed in December 2019, has arrived at a total of 74 completed bikes, divided into the five categories renewed for this third edition. To leave room for reinterpretation and creativity, each customizer was able to choose between four categories dedicated to Ducati Scrambler 800 and Sixty2 and a specific one for the Ducati Scrambler 1100:

  • Rocker: motorcycles inspired by the culture of the legendary café racers that in the 60s gave birth to a revolution in the world of two wheels
  • Cut-down: bobber-style motorcycle in which every element not strictly necessary is eliminated for an essential look
  • All-Terrain: Enduro-style Scrambler, perfect for any terrain and equipped with off-road-inspired components
  • Outsider: designed for those who do not want to limit themselves to one category, but unleash their creativity
  • Bully: the special category dedicated to the Ducati Scrambler 1100, without any restrictions on the type of bike or style

Site users can vote for their favourite bike by March 15, thus determining the five finalists (one per category) who will fly to Bike Shed London 2020 for the final on May 23, 2020. The prize for the best custom Ducati Scrambler will be awarded by a jury of experts.

Bike Shed London is one of the top European events for fans of custom and post-heritage motorcycle culture, and is open to all. It takes place 22-24 May at Tobacco Docks, a stunning, grade 1 listed, riverside dock, over two huge floors, converted into a modern exhibition complex. Ducati Scrambler, with the Custom Rumble contest, whose aim is to stimulate the imagination and creativity of builders, fits perfectly into this context which includes the exhibition of more than 250 curated motorcycles.

All the participating motorcycles can be viewed on Scramblerducati.com, as well as on the official Instagram page of Custom Rumble.

Custom Rumble: the international contest for Ducati Scrambler specials is back

Custom Rumble, the two-yearly competition for the best customised Ducati Scrambler, is back. The second edition, which culminated in the final prize-giving at World Ducati Week 2018, involved 132 international participants competing in the Dealer, Customer, Customizer and Rookie Rumble categories.

With the aim of providing even more freedom for personal reinterpretations, for this third edition the categories are increased and updated, there are in fact 4 categories dedicated to the Ducati Scrambler 800 and Sixty2 and one specifically for the Ducati Scrambler 1100.

The 5 concepts to take as a starting point for creating the custom motorcycle are:

  • Rocker: bikes inspired by the culture of the legendary café racers which, in the 1960s, started off an authentic revolution in the world of motorcycles
  • Cut-down: bikes in bobber style where all elements that are not strictly necessary are eliminated, for a really essential look
  • All-Terrain: enduro-style Scramblers, perfect for any terrain and equipped with elements inspired by off-road riding
  • Outsider: conceived for those who don’t want the restrictions of a particular category but prefer to give free rein to their creativity
  • Bully: the special category dedicated to the Ducati Scrambler 1100, with no restrictions as to the type of bike or style

Registration is already open and will close on 30 December 2019. The participating customised bikes must be ready and uploaded to the dedicated section on the Scramblerducati.com website by 30 January 2020. Visitors to the website will vote for their favourite motorcycle online by 15 March 2020, and these votes will determine the winning bike which will be rewarded in May 2020 at a dedicated event with a jury of carefully selected experts.

Participants in the Custom Rumble competition can share images and contents of their work-in-progress on their own Instagram and Facebook profiles with the #customrumble hashtag so as to be shared on the official Scrambler Ducati and Custom Rumble pages.

Custom Rumble, 2nd edition: four best Ducati Scrambler custom builds selected

The second edition of “Custom Rumble”, the biennial competition to find the most eye-catching customized Ducati Scrambler moves into its final phase. After months of meticulous, passion-driven craftsmanship, this edition will now see the four finalists battle it out for ultimate victory.

Divided into four different categories, “Best Dealer” (reserved for all official Ducati dealers), “Best Private Customizer” (for all specialised custom workshops), “Best Customer” (for Ducati Scrambler customers) and “Rookie Rumble” (for under-35 enthusiasts who have customized a Scrambler Sixty2), participants received votes directly on scramblerducati.com. In all, no less than 200,000 votes were cast.

The 132 participants offered up a vast array of styles and original interpretations: from Café Racer to Bobber, and even an electric version (the D-EV Project) built by a Thai participant.

The four finalists are:

  • Best Dealer: “ESG Rumble 400”, entered by Ducati Poland;
  • Best Private Customizer: “The Batass” built by Piotr, Poland;
  • Best Customer: “Black Ant” built by Sumalpan, Thailand;
  • Rookie Rumble: “Aree”, designed by Tanapol, Thailand.

All Custom Rumble contestants started working on their bikes last September; on-line voting began at the end of October and continued until March this year. This coming July, during World Ducati Week (WDW) – the world’s biggest gathering organised by Ducati from 20 to 22 July 2018 at Misano Adriatico for all motorcycle enthusiasts – the most beautiful of the four Ducati Scrambler custom bikes will be awarded.

Final victory will be assigned by a jury of experts – designers, motorcyclists and customizers – and the builders of the best bike will win a trip to California for two.
Of course, the four finalists will be showcasing their eye-popping creations at WDW 2018. They can also be admired on-line at scramblerducati.com or on the dedicated Instagram page @customrumble.
