Dainese Settantadue launches Dunes at Bike Shed London

Dainese Settantadue returns to The Bike Shed London and unveils Dunes, the brand-new collection of garments inspired by desert races in the heroic years, pieces that give the Paris-Dakar legend a modern twist.

Dainese Settantadue renews its partnership with The Bike Shed and presents its brand-new Dunes collection during the London event. The clothing line recalls those garments worn by the stars of African motorcycle marathons during the last century.

Dunes retains the key principle of Dainese Settantadue, namely the desire to offer all motorcycle fans iconic garments with a modern twistDunes conjures up images of passion, courage and a desire to challenge oneself, values that guided racers in battles that took them to the very limits of what is possible. Challenging nature and themselves, their only support their mechanical vehicle and their equipment, the jacket the most symbolic and representative piece.

Dunes draws inspiration from these ideas to create garments that associate modern technologies with an unforgotten style. Dunes injects all this into a collection capable of recalling the emotions of the desert and that stand-out African race in its pioneering period, when racers had nothing but a compass and a map.

Jackets are once again the main stars of the Dunes collection. Garments such as Alger, Kidal and Kayes are a modern take on the colours and lines that would race on sand tracks, rutted with sweat and tears, more than three decades ago. Jackets that carry the legendary names of places that have marked Dakar stages, each with its distinctive characteristics and identity.

Kidal is the famous three quarter length four-pocket leather jacket. Alger is in fabric and mesh, and stands out because of its patches, inspired by the race garments, and its front asymmetry, conceived by Dainese back in the day to leave room for a competitor’s race number. Kayes is a fabric garment characterised by classic lines, colourful and slanting, on the chest. There are also jackets for the female customer, such as Djanet and Kiffa, in leather and fabric.

Against the unique backdrop of London’s Tobacco Dock, Bike Shed 2019 will exhibit the Dunes collection, which includes also a full line of accessories such as gloves, shoes, boots, t-shirts and bags.

The Dunes collection is clearly inspired by that age of explorers who would take on challenges like the Paris-Dakar. More than average racers, they would ride their motorbikes in the direction of open and uncontaminated spaces, immersed in nature and guided by it. Dunes is a line of exclusive garments that brings a touch of adventure to the daily ride.

Dainese Settantadue: Speed Leather – Make Your Own History

We entered the Dainese vault and got inspired: there’s so much history there! Dainese Settantadue is our contemporary interpretation of the history of riding wear.” – Cristiano Silei, CEO of Dainese

The Speed Leather range focuses on the importance and love of the leather jacket; jackets that hark back to the racing suits that Dainese produced at the start of its journey. Staying true to Italian heritage, the jackets are the epitome of style, beauty and effortless elegance – while incorporating the latest safety technology.

Freccia 72

The arrow (Freccia) is a time-honoured symbol that almost everyone can relate to. More than just a graphical symbol used to point or indicate direction, multiple arrows (such as those on the back of Agostini’s suit or on Freccia 72) traditionally stand for speed.

Combined with Dainese’s twin horizontal bands and vertical stripes down the sleeves, the Freccia 72 is made from superior quality cowhide leather and features removable integrated Pro Armor protection. The printed cotton liner reproduces historical Dainese racing suits, a reminder of the Freccia 72’s origins.

Available in Red/White, Blue/White and Black, the Freccia 72 has an RRP of £449.95, in UK sizes 34 – 50. The Freccia 72 is also available in a cut expressly tailored for women in UK sizes 6 – 20.

Toga 72

Channel your inner 70s soul with the Toga 72 leather jacket and re-live some of Dainese’s history.

Combining past and present with unique details, distinctive cuts and removable Pro Armor protection for shoulders and elbows, the Toga 72 takes the design of the very first of Dainese’s racing suits and recreates it with today’s materials and technologies.

With an RRP of £529.95 the Toga 72 is available in White/Red or Black, in UK sizes 34 – 50.

Rapida 72

Celebrate the DNA of the two-piece leather suits of the 70s with the Rapida 72, the stars of an era gone by that’s timeless. Created to reference the uncompromising spirit of Dainese’s racing history, Rapida 72 combines Dainese functionality with advanced technology.

Crafted in soft Sol cowhide with Pro Armor protection for outstanding safety, comfort and style the Rapida 72 features elegant drawings of Dainese’s history on the interior liner.

Available in black with red and white details on the sleeves, Rapida 72 carries an RRP of £499.95, in UK sizes 34 – 50.

Dainese Exhibits At The 2018 Motor Bike Expo

Dainese Exhibits At The 2018 Motor Bike Expo With A Booth Dedicated To The New Dainese Settantadue Brand

The style of historic garments meets latest-generation technology: the Dainese Group’s new brand presents outerwear from its Speed Leather, Archetypes and Demon Flower lines at the Verona event.

Following the success of 2017, Dainese returns to the Motor Bike Expo and presents Dainese Settantadue, the Group’s new brand. Dainese Settantadue resurrects the history of motorcycle clothing in the glory years and gives it a Contemporary Heritage twist, with garments that combine elegance and technical solutions able to satisfy today’s safety requirements.

Art Director Renato Montagner explains the guideline that led to the birth of the new brand: “The main thread of Settantadue lies in its interpretation of Dainese’s origins and 45 years of experience, always at the forefront of innovation. The traditional processing of the leather, the attention paid to details recreated especially for each piece, the integration of Pro-Armor protectors without distorting shapes or equilibriums: a fusion, rather than a revisiting of past garments. Just as history is not only made up of heroes, style does not only belong to champions. This is why we’ve also taken inspiration from the every-day biker, who finds the bike to be a form of expression and keeps the spirit of this passion alive. For example, models like the Toga and the Chiodo were not linked to prominent figures in the past but have always represented a clearly recognisable image”.

The leather jacket is the star of the first Dainese Settantadue collection, a timeless garment that unites generations of motorcycle lovers. Lines include: Archetypes, Speed Leather and Demon Flower. All created with meticulous attention to detail, they are inspired by key stylistic elements from the past. Archetypes focuses on cult products such as the Chiodo, the classic leather jacket much loved by bikers, rockers and travellers in the 60s and 70s. Speed Leather brings jackets like Toga72 and Rapida72 to the attention of the public, jackets that hark back to the racing suits that Dainese produced at the start of its journey. The Demon Flower line presents Patina72, with its unique lining created for Dainese Settantadue by New York artist Othelo Gervacio and enhanced with a hand-finished treatment of the drum-dyed leather.

From 18 to 21 January, the entire collection will be on show in Hall 4, stand 14I.

The Dainese Settantadue brand narrative continues online with a dedicated website and social profiles that express the genuine passion for this original and authentic lifestyle day after day.
