THE MAIN NEW PRODUCTS FROM THE PIAGGIO GROUP AT EICMA 2021

Aprilia Tuareg 660
This bike on the Aprilia 660 platform is a true off-roader with a name introduced by Aprilia in 1985 that has become legendary in the off-road segment, so evocative that its destination can be immediately identified. The Tuareg 660 has been designed, developed and built as the ideal synthesis between mono-cylinder enduros and mid-range adventure bikes, two antithetical worlds until now. The Tuareg 660 raises the level of off-road riding to adventure bikes while making the most of its personality as a tourer, thanks to its impeccable performance on the road, premium technical content, the capabilities of its 80 hp twin-cylinder engine and a dry weight of just 187 kg. An innovative concept and an innovative design where the focus is on practicality, with the elimination of all superfluous elements. The frame has been developed for heavy-duty use on challenging off-road terrains. Structural solidity is guaranteed by the six anchor points fastening the engine to the frame, to turn the engine into a stressed member. The very long-travel suspensions are fully adjustable and ideal for overcoming any off-road obstacle while ensuring rider and passenger comfort on the road. The 18-litre tank is heavily tapered in the leg area; its vertical development means the fuel remains close to the barycentre without affecting riding dynamics. The measurements of the tubeless aluminium rims indicate the strong off-road vocation of the Tuareg 660: 2.5 x 21” for the front wheel, 4.5 x 18” for the rear wheel. Both are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, measuring 90/90 and 150/70 respectively. The instruments are cutting edge, with a suite of APRC electronic controls, including traction control, cruise control, engine brake and customisable engine maps. The ABS can be deactivated on both channels for particularly challenging off-road riding. The parallel twin-cylinder engine, a highly compact lightweight latest-generation unit, was designed specifically for use on this type of motorbike; its specific modifications deliver 80 hp and 70 Nm, with 75% of torque already available at 3,000 rpm, to guarantee immediate response to the throttle at the lowest revs. The bike comes with a wealth of accessories and special clothing.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory
With respect to Tuono 660, already widely recognised and appreciated by the public and critics for its outstanding chassis qualities, Tuono 660 Factory boasts more sophisticated suspension, better suited to sports riding. The Kayaba fork with 41 mm stanchions is fully adjustable in its compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load, while the Sachs shock with separate reservoir is also adjustable in its compression and rebound damping and spring pre-load.
There is an even better weight/power ratio, thanks to the adoption of a light lithium battery that contributes to reducing the overall weight by roughly 2 kg (the kerb weight is now 181 kg). The maximum power of the 660 cc twin is upped from 95 HP with the Tuono 660 to 100 HP with the Tuono 660 Factory. The engine boasts even more drive in acceleration, thanks to the use of a shorter final drive, with a 16-tooth pinion gear, one less than Tuono 660. The maximum torque remains unchanged, with 67 Nm at 8500 rpm.
Tuono 660 Factory offers a full suite of APRC electronic controls with a Ride-by-Wire electronic accelerator and six-axis inertial platform as standard, as well as the AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift), the electronic gearbox that allows for very rapid shifting without closing the throttle or using the clutch. It is also equipped with the downshift function, to allow for clutchless downshifting.
The design is further enhanced with the aggressive and sporty Factory Dark graphics and the presence of the single-seat tail fairing, painted in black and red

Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition
Little more than a year after its market launch in October 2020, the Aprilia RS 660 is already celebrating its first major sports victory: the Italian mid-range sports bike dominated the 2021 Twins Cup, the fiercely fought US championship for mid-range twin-cylinder models and part of MotoAmerica, the United States’ premier motorcycle road racing series. To celebrate the victory,

Aprilia is presenting a special numbered edition of 1,000 RS 660 two-wheelers, featuring an original stars and stripes livery inspired by the US flag and unique features including a one-seater tailpiece cover, large-size front shield and software to invert the quick-shift configuration. This means, depending on the rider’s needs, the shift can be independently configured for road riding or inverted, ideal for track riding.

Aprilia SR GT
The first urban adventure scooter from Aprilia, to re-discover the pleasure of riding in an urban setting on a daily basis, as well as over longer distances or on lesser known roads and trails, thanks to features inspired by enduro bikes that make this two-wheeler the ideal companion in any situation. On the new Aprilia SR GT the active riding position and broad motorcycle-style naked handlebar optimise control, while the long-travel suspensions and greater above-ground height mean any obstacle encountered during city driving can be easily overcome; the broad all-terrain tyres support any type of surface, from asphalt and paving stones to dirt roads. The Aprilia SR GT is also a leader in terms of engine power and efficiency, with two state-of-the-art Euro 5 electronic injection, 4-valve, liquid-cooled units from the i-get family. In addition to the mono-cylinder 125 cc i-get engine, with a top power of 11 kW at 8,750 revs and torque of 12 Nm at 6,500 revs, the mono-cylinder 174 cc makes its debut on the Aprilia SR GT 200, delivering 13 kW at 8,500 revs and torque of 16.5 Nm at 7,000 revs. Benchmark values that guarantee elasticity, lively acceleration and smooth riding in all conditions, with highly efficient fuel consumption.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello
With the V100 Mandello, Moto Guzzi takes its first step into its second century, during which it will continue to produce magnificent motorcycles with a powerful personality. The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello opens a completely new chapter in the company’s history; it eludes conventional categorisation, combining brilliant performance with the vocation for travel that lies at the heart of every Moto Guzzi two-wheeler. This is a Moto Guzzi like never before, whose cutting-edge technology and innovative technical and aerodynamic solutions open the door to the future of the brand. The V100 Mandello is an innovative bike starting with the design which, as always, enhances the unique, inimitable twin-cylinder engine. Lines that eschew nostalgia, offering a modern take on the key points of the Moto Guzzi stylistic idiom. A watershed in the brand’s history, the bike introduces many important technological innovations: the first two-wheeler with adaptive aerodynamics, the first Moto Guzzi model to feature advanced electronic solutions such as the six-axis inertial platform, ABS cornering, semi-active suspensions and a quick shift, to name just the most important. It is also the first Moto Guzzi bike powered by the new compact-block engine with sophisticated technical characteristics. Tradition is maintained by the 90° V-twin architecture, which guarantees Moto Guzzi’s unique torque delivery and inimitable sound, but the project is completely new and offers impressively brilliant performance: power of more than 115 hp and torque of more than 105 Nm, 90% already available at 3,500 rpm. The sporty character of the bike is complemented by a compact manageable frame, while the high level of comfort provided by the generous saddle and active extended riding position confirms its aptitude for touring. Moto Guzzi technology enhances comfort and protection from the air with an electrically adjustable windshield and, a world-first, an adaptive aerodynamic system for automatic regulation of the position of the air deflectors on the sides of the fuel tank, depending on speed and the riding mode selected. The top-of-the-range electronic equipment includes an electronic ride-by-wire accelerator for finely tuned performance and consumption management, the Marelli 11MP advanced control system, the 6-axis inertial platform for optimal management of the electronic controls, cruise control, and ABS cornering for active safety when braking on bends. Four riding modes are available: Viaggio, Sport, Pioggia and Strada, each offering 3 different engine maps, 4 levels of traction control, 3 engine brake levels and (in the version where they are standard features) calibration of the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspensions, with automatic moment-by-moment regulation of the hydraulics to the riding style and surface conditions, to optimise performance in any situation.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia d’Onore
Moto Guzzi is celebrating 75 years of uninterrupted collaboration with the Corazzieri Regiment, with the presentation of the Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia d’Onore, a limited numbered special edition of its highly regarded classic travel enduro, which in the manufacturer’s centenary year has joined the motorcycle fleet of the regiment that provides the guard of honour of the Italian Head of State. Just like the V85 TT motorcycles recently delivered to the Quirinale Palace, the V85 TT Guardia d’Onore features the black livery with white graphics of the Corazzieri Moto Guzzi bike. The white stripes run along the front mudguard over the fuel tank and side panels, and also appear on the extra-large Touring windshield. The windshield is a standard feature, together with the central stand, engine shield bars and supplementary LED lights. A pair of side panniers are available for this model on request. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia d’Onore will be produced as a limited series of 1946 motorcycles, a number referring to the first of the 75 years of collaboration between the Mandello Eagle and the Corazzieri Regiment. An additional indication of the exclusivity of this model is the application of each bike’s serial number, from 1 to 1946, on the handlebar riser.

Piaggio 1
The Piaggio 1 combines the winning features of an up-to-the-minute e-scooter – lightweight agility for urban commuting plus essential lines and practicality – with the quality and reliability of Piaggio scooters.
This means safety first of all, thanks to a robust frame intended to ensure riding pleasure, as well as an attractive design, top-level comfort, and impressive technological features that include a digital colour instrument panel, full LED lights and a keyless system. The Piaggio 1 is also the only e-scooter in its category to provide a roomy underseat compartment, with space for a full-jet helmet. The Piaggio 1 is powered by an electric motor incorporated in the rear wheel: the moped version (Piaggio 1), with a speed of 45 km/h, delivers an output of 1.2 kW, while the motorcycle version (Piaggio 1 Active) has a 2 kW unit.
In both versions, the battery, housed below the seat, can be easily removed in seconds and carried into the home or office for recharging.

Piaggio 1 Feng Chen Wang
The collaboration between Piaggio and Feng Chen Wang, one of the most experimental and innovative stylists on the international scene today, has produced a personalised special edition of the Piaggio 1, the brand new Piaggio two-wheeler for electric urban mobility. The Feng Chen Wang special edition is distinguished by an exclusive livery where the stylist and designer, who was born in China’s south-eastern Fujian province, known for its breathtaking landscapes, combines Chinese tradition with vibrant London-style creativity.
The watercolour visually combines the natural elements of water and the symbol of the Phoenix, which in Chinese mythology represents virtue and grace, and is drawn by hand using the traditional Chinese brushstroke technique, while the colour green, also used on the seat cover and wheel rims, is a reference to Chinese native flora and universal values such as health, prosperity and harmony. Piaggio’s collaboration with Feng Chen Wang has also produced a special helmet and a capsule collection of unisex streetwear.

(VESPA ELETTRICA)RED
The partnership between the Piaggio Group and (RED), the non-profit organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver, sees the creation of (VESPA ELETTRICA)RED and its presentation at EICMA 2021 dressed entirely in red. The iconic red colour is more than just a bold statement – every purchase of the (VESPA ELETTRICA)RED will trigger a donation to support the Global Fund, one of the world’s largest funders of global health, to support the fight against pandemics with (RED).

(RED), named for the colour of the emergency, was founded in 2006 to turn companies into a cavalry to fight the AIDS pandemic. Today, the cavalry is also fighting the urgent threat of COVID and its devastating effects in communities where pandemics hit hardest.
Following the (VESPA 946)RED in 2017 and (VESPA PRIMAVERA)RED in 2020, the (VESPA ELETTRICA)RED is the third exclusive product to result from this longtime partnership, embodying more effectively than any other the common values of commitment to global health and respect for the environment and planet.

THE PIAGGIO GROUP CONFIRMS ITS POSITION AS EUROPEAN LEADER OF THE
SCOOTER SEGMENT

At 30 September, the Piaggio Group had a 13.2% share of the overall two-wheeler market, and was the leading player in the scooter segment with a share of 23.1%. In Italy, the Group’s overall market share is 17.9%, rising to 27.3% in the scooter segment.

Yamaha Racing Heritage Club Launched at EICMA

Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to announce the formation of the Yamaha Racing Heritage Club, which was launched officially during the 2021 EICMA show in Milan, Italy in November.

Designed to protect and share with younger generations Yamaha’s racing history, the Yamaha Racing Heritage Club (YRHC) will bring together selected collectors from around the world who count some of the iconic racing machines from Yamaha’s storied racing history amongst their collection.

The YHRC will be open to owners of bikes from every discipline. From Grand Prix racing the club will admit machines raced between 1955 and the end of the two-stroke era in 2003, while registrations from World Superbike and the Endurance World Championships will be open to machines raced in any of the production classes from 1987 until 2009. From the off-road world the YRHC will be open to motocross bikes raced before 1998 and Paris Dakar machines that raced in Africa prior to 2007.

Collectors will be able to register their historic Yamaha machinery with the YRHC, gaining access to technical information and support from the engineers who were involved in either the development or maintenance of these bikes when they were racing, or who currently work within Yamaha’s racing infrastructure.

YRHC members will also enjoy discounted access to genuine Yamaha parts, and assistance with identifying suitable replacements when genuine Yamaha parts are no longer available due to the age of machinery.

But the YRHC is about much more than just the machinery, it will also bring together those riders that wrote Yamaha’s name large in the history books, reuniting them with the machines on which they achieved their greatest successes.

The collectors and riders will be ambassadors of Yamaha’s Racing Heritage, guardians of the racing history that started at the Mount Fuji Ascent Race just 10 days after the company was established by Genichi Kawakami on July 1st 1955, and which remains an essential part of Yamaha Motor’s corporate culture.

The YRHC will also involve Yamaha’s current crop of racers from all disciplines, providing an opportunity for both them and their army of fans to experience Yamaha’s racing history and the people who made it first-hand, rather than through the pages of a book.

Through a number of exclusive events held throughout the year, the YRHC will bring together collectors and riders, both past and present, to showcase Yamaha’s storied racing history and to share the passion and determination that established Yamaha at the forefront of racing across all disciplines.

For collectors looking for more information on registering for the Yamaha Racing Heritage Club, please email yrhc@yamaha-racing.com.

Paolo Pavesio: Director, Marketing and Motorsport, Yamaha Motor Europe
“We have founded the Yamaha Racing Heritage Club not just to commemorate Yamaha’s rich and storied racing history, but also to safeguard it and to bring it alive for future generations to enjoy in person. We want these bikes to be seen and heard once again, not just to sit idle in a collection, which is why supporting collectors to restore and maintain their bikes is one of the primary objectives of the YHRC. Another objective is to relate the human side of Yamaha’s racing heritage, telling the stories of the riders who raced these iconic machines and the people who both developed and worked on them. We want to share our racing heritage with as wide an audience as possible, which is why the YRHC will attend a number of events each year to showcase these historic bikes, bringing them together with riders both past and present to keep our heritage alive.”

World-First Hybrid Battery-Powered NAWA Racer E-Motorbike To Debut At EICMA

NAWA Technologies (NAWA), pioneers of revolutionary 3D nano-technology to unleash efficient, green mobility, will be showing its NAWA Racer electric motorbike at the world’s biggest two-wheeled show, EICMA 2021 in Milan, from 25-28th November.

NAWA Racer is a zero-emission motorbike concept that illustrates how NAWA’s next-gen nano-based ultracapacitors, called NAWACap, can be applied to a real-world electric vehicle (EV) powertrain, by combining them with conventional lithium-ion cells to create a hybrid battery system.

Optimising both energy sources, the innovation opens up new possibilities for all e-powertrains, greatly improving efficiency, reducing the size of the lithium-ion battery as well as charging times, potentially doubling range and extending entire system life. Entirely modular and scalable, the system is perfectly suited for two-wheelers but also applicable to any electric vehicle.

For the initial design of the NAWA Racer concept, NAWA Technologies was supported by expert design and engineering services provider Envisage Group – based in Coventry, UK. To develop a fully functioning prototype, NAWA has had the support of InnoEnergy, the innovation arm of the European Innovation Institute, assembling an expert consortium of French partners consortium comprised of NAWA itself, AKKA Technologies, Pronergy, FAAR and YSY Group. NAWA will bring the next evolution of this concept to EICMA 2021 (Booth B79 – Pavilion 18).

Intended to turn heads as well as offer a ground-breaking electric powertrain, NAWA Racer can reach a range of up to 300 km in an urban environment. NAWA Racer brings a modern twist to its retro looks with simple, smooth lightweight composite panels and rear arm and an in-wheel motor. NAWA Racer will also focus on customisation with multiple ways to tailor and futureproof its striking design.

Pascal Boulanger, Founder of NAWA Technologies, and CTO said: NAWA Racer is our vision for the electric motorbike of tomorrow – a retro café racer-inspired machine, but one that is thoroughly modern. It is lightweight, fast and fun, perfect for an emission-free city commute that will put a smile on your face. But thanks to its revolutionary electric powertrain, which combines NAWA’s ultracapacitors with lithium-ion, it also lays down a blueprint for the future.”.

Ducati Scrambler at EICMA 2019 with a new version and two original concepts

The 77th edition of EICMA, the International Motorcycle Exhibition, is now in full swing: every year, enthusiasts and operators gather here from all over the world for a preview of trends and models for the new season.

The latest releases, concept bikes, live music and a captivating atmosphere: all available from the Ducati Scrambler Land of Joy in Hall 15, booth N20. The highlights of the “yellow” area are without any doubt the two new concepts designed by the Ducati Scrambler Brand Unit and manufactured by Centro Stile Ducati, presented to world fans for the first time here at EICMA – a testimony to free expression and customisation as the brand core values.

The “Motard” concept is a stylistic evolution of the Ducati Scrambler 800. Inspired by the supermotards of the 1980s, it is a race-style offshoot of the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. It comes with slick tyres with SCR grooves for road use. The front number plate is shaped like the iconic Scrambler headlight. The new brushed sheet metal tank is located under two covers that enhance its teardrop shape.

The other Ducati Scrambler evolution model is called “DesertX” and was inspired by the iconic racing models of the 1990s’ rally raids such as the Paris-Dakar. Its retro-tech, functional style, combined with clean design lines, makes this a timeless, evergreen concept.

The new Ducati Scrambler version is also in the spotlight at EICMA – designed to ideally reflect the essential nature of this iconic motorcycle: two wheels, wide handlebars, a straightforward engine design and lots of fun. Named Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark, it is the entry-level model to the “800” range. Featuring a characteristic “Matt Black” colour tank and mudguards, this model is the perfect starting point for creating personalised vehicles, choosing from the many original accessories available in the Scrambler world.

The Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark joins the Ducati Scrambler Icon and the Full Throttle, Desert Sled and Café Racer versions. The Ducati Scrambler 800 and 1100 ranges will be on display at EICMA 2019 with all models fitted with accessories from the original line and the two “Motard” and “DesertX” concepts.

Ducati presents a series of exciting new bikes for 2020

Ahead of EICMA 2019, to be held at the Milano-Rho Trade Fair Centre (Fiera) from 7 to 10 November, Ducati has unveiled the greatest and latest bikes and Ebikes for 2020. A complete, updated range, ready to set new standards in style, performance and technology.

The Ducati World Première 2020 was the final act of the Global Dealer Conference, an event bringing together key Ducati dealers – more than a thousand people – representing 71 countries. Streamed worldwide on the internet, the event was held on Wednesday 23 October, on the stage of the Palacongressi di Rimini, and it was Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, who personally unveiled the new 2020 range.

“For the Ducati World Première 2020 we have chosen to remain in the Motor Valley, a territory that unites a series of extraordinary brands – unparalleled in the world – of which we are proud to be a part”, stated Claudio Domenicali as he opened the Ducati World Première 2020. “Today we are unveiling a number of dream bikes, but also three new Ebikes that will complement the Ducati MIG-RR, presented last year. The MIG-RR Limited Edition represents the top of the range and has truly excellent components, such as carbon rims and electronic gearshift, and it can also be customized with the customer’s name and a dedicated suspension setting. The MIG-S has premium equipment but a more affordable price and, finally, there is also a City Bike for the Ducati Scrambler world.
Moving on to motorcycles, there are new colours for the Diavel and Ducati Scrambler, the special Grand Tour version for the Multistrada 1260 S and three absolute novelties. First among these is the Panigale V2, our super-sporty twin powered by the 955 cc Superquadro engine, the middle-weight superbike new both in its aesthetics and its performance.
We also present the new version of the Panigale V4, which for the second year in a row was the most sold sports bike in the world. We have collected and analysed the feedback and data from our passionate customers and the specialized press, and for 2020 we have made the Panigale V4 easier, less tiring to ride and more repeatable in performance even on uneven surfaces. It is faster on the stopwatch, and this improvement is greater the smaller the potential of the rider, therefore higher for an amateur than for a professional rider. The Panigale V4 is a bike that, when ridden by Michele Pirro in fully standard configuration, including the homologated exhaust and apart from the slick tyres, is capable of obtaining a chronometric response of just 3 seconds higher than its own record made on the Vallelunga circuit with the Superbike version of the bike.
Last to take the stage is the long-awaited Streetfighter V4, an extraordinary bike for which we have applied what, at Borgo Panigale, we like to call “The Fight Formula”: we took the Desmosedici Stradale 1,103 cc engine, added the latest-generation electronic package of the Panigale V4, lightened it to obtain a dry weight of 178 kg, added a tall and wide handlebar, removed the fairings and obtained 208 hp of power @ 12,750 rpm.
A high-performance motorcycle with great attention to comfort, thanks to relaxed ergonomics, a well-padded seat and suspension set for road use. A safe bike, like all new-generation Ducatis, thanks to a very complete electronic package that has the first objective of increasing riding ease and safety.”

Following the success of the Ducati MIG-RR, presented at last year’s EICMA, for 2020 Ducati is offering nothing less than a range of Ebikes. The first major development takes the shape of the Ducati MIG-RR Limited Edition, of which just 50 will be made; assembled in Italy, these feature Ohlins suspension, carbon rims, electronic gearbox and are enriched by special Ducati Corse graphics, designed by Aldo Drudi’s D-Perf. Then there’s the Ducati MIG-S, a decidedly sporty All Mountain bike designed for those who want all-terrain agility, performance and fun. Completing the range is a third variant, the E-Scrambler, a ‘Trekking’ version with high-end components; equally at home on city streets or country roads, the E-Scrambler is for those with a taste for freedom – all in inimitable Ducati Scrambler style.

The first motorcycle to take centre-stage was the new Icon Dark, the 800 cc “Land of Joy” entry-level model from the Ducati Scrambler range, together with two concept bike sketches created by the Centro Stile Ducati for EICMA 2019. Next up was the new Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour, a special version of the 1260 S designed for those who want to eat up the miles without giving up on comfort. Following the Multistrada were two Diavel 1260 bikes, sporting new 2020 colour schemes, namely Dark Stealth (available for the standard version) and an all-new Ducati Red with white trims (for the S version), both of which enhance the sportiness and the power-cruiser spirit of this unique bike even further.

The first of the all-new Ducati bikes for 2020 was the Panigale V2. The twin-cylinder Panigale has a completely new look, as well as sophisticated Inertial Platform-based electronics and, thanks also to a comfortable seat and its suspension set-up, it offers better yet safer sports performance while making road riding more enjoyable and user-friendly than ever. It is powered by a 955 cm³ Superquadro engine with a maximum power of 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 Nm at 9,000 rpm (Euro 5 compliant).
Built around the monocoque frame, the chassis set-up is embraced by a new, sports-style design. The extensive fairing hugs the mechanics, highlighting the compactness of the Superquadro twin-cylinder engine to create a bike that is visually compact.

Other key Panigale V2 features include the single-sided swingarm and an exhaust with extremely compact under-engine silencer and single-side tail pipe. The clean lines typical of Ducati superbikes are enhanced by the traditional Ducati Red livery and black wheels.

Another major EICMA 2019 preview took the form of the Panigale V4. A series of refinements for 2020 make for a more user-friendly, less fatiguing ride while simultaneously making the bike faster not just on individual laps but over entire timed sessions.

Ducati and Ducati Corse engineers have crunched the feedback/data numbers from customers all over the world and Superbike World Championship events. Their analysis has led to a series of aerodynamic, chassis, electronic control and Ride by Wire mapping changes: designed to increase stability and turn-in speed, these changes make it easier to close corners and ensure riders enjoy more confident throttle control.

The Panigale V4 is now equipped with content taken from the V4 R, starting with the aero pack (aerofoils, Plexiglas screen, nose fairing and larger lateral fairings, more efficient side vents for radiator through-air). This provides better airflow protection and improves overall vehicle stability, enhancing confidence. Completing the update is the Front Frame, with modified stiffness to give better front-end ‘feel’ at extreme lean angles. Thanks to a new ‘predictive’ control strategy, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2 significantly improves out-of-the-corner power control; Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2, instead, shortens up-shift times, allowing sportier high-rev gear shifts (over 10,000 rpm) and boosting shift stability during aggressive acceleration and cornering. The bike also features specially-developed Ride by Wire system mappings with several different torque delivery control logics. Powering the Panigale V4 is the 1,103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale: a MotoGP-derived 90° V4 with Desmodromic timing, a one-of-a-kind engine with a counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order. The engine can deliver 214 hp at 13,000 rpm and a torque of 12.6 Kgm at 10,000 rpm, making for extremely satisfying road riding.

Another ‘star’ of the Ducati World Première 2020 was the new Streetfighter V4, the super-naked long awaited by enthusiasts worldwide and a prime candidate for the title of “best looking bike of EICMA 2019”.

The foundation of the Steetfighter V4 is a Panigale V4 stripped of its fairings and equipped with high, wide handlebars. Weighing 178 kg, it is powered by a 1103 cc Desmosedici Stradale engine, its 208 hp kept under control by biplane aerofoils and a latest-generation electronics package: a combination of factors and modifications that Ducati calls the “Fight Formula”. The result is an over-the-top naked Ducati, modern and technological, with an assertively eye-catching design. A bike that does nothing to hide its segment-leading performance, but which also ensures practicality and full-on fun during everyday rides.
The minimalist full-LED headlight with its V-shaped DRL captures the spirit of the Streetfighter V4 perfectly. On the one hand, it recalls the front of the Panigale V4 and, on the other, evokes the crazy grin of the Joker (the comic strip character from which the Ducati Style Center drew inspiration for this new Bologna-built naked).

On the Streetfighter V4, the Front Frame and Desmosedici Stradale engine take centre-stage. Only partially screened by superstructures that have been cut to a bare minimum, their sharp lines create a clean, essential whole.

Such powerful design demands a powerful engine, and the 1103 cc 208 hp Desmosedici Stradale fits the bill: for a naked, it packs an impressive punch, yet dedicated engine mapping lets the rider control the power with confidence. The engine – combined with a kerb weight of 178 kg (“S” version) – boosts the power/weight ratio to an impressive 1.17. Performance can be further improved by mounting the full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovič, which raises power to 220 hp and reduces weight by 6 kg.
The feisty performance of this bike is stabilised by sophisticated electronics lifted directly from the Panigale V4 and the ‘biplane’ aerofoils developed by Ducati Corse aerodynamicists. Brought forward to maximise their effect, the aerofoils generate 28 kg of downforce at 270 kph, attenuating front wheel ‘floating’ at high speed and the tendency to wheel-up. They also boost stability during braking at the turn-in point and through the corner. On the road, this dynamic behaviour instils confidence. On the track, instead, it boosts performance by limiting electronic control intervention and allowing delayed braking.

The latest-generation electronics package on the Streetfighter V4 is based on a 6-axis inertial measurement platform which instantly detects the bike’s roll, yaw and pitch angles. The electronics oversee every part of the ride: some controls manage start, acceleration and braking, others handle traction, while some lend a helping hand on corners and out-of-the-corner stretches. Safety, performance, and bags of personality: the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 has arrived!

With dream bikes set to thrill thousands of visitors and accessories and apparel oozing style and originality, Ducati is all set to welcome the public to the 77th edition of EICMA (Fiera Milano-Rho, 7/10 November 2019 – Hall 15 Stand N06), confirming the unique role this iconic brand plays on the international motorcycling scene.
