Get the most out of your sportbike with GIVI

The transalpine motorbike and rider equipment company shows exactly how you can add more load capacity to your sport or naked bike without compromising on aesthetics.

Sometimes when you think of motorbike accessories there is a conception that they are large aluminium panniers that take away from the natural aesthetics of the bike. This can seem like a drawback for all sport bike owners who need to add some cargo capacity to their machine. But for 45 years, GIVI has been making motorbike gear fit all types of bikes. It’s done this by designing different product ranges to suit every type of bike. In this case, GIVI has created a set of bags for those who appreciate speed and dynamism, which contribute to comfortable sport riding thanks to their compact and aerodynamic design and high load capacity.

GIVI works to offer greater comfort and practicality to the rider both on long and everyday journeys, without neglecting the aesthetics of the bike. An example of this is the Sport-T range, designed for all sport bike owners who want to add cargo capacity without sacrificing the style of their machine.

The bags in the Sport-T range are made to withstand sports riding. For this reason, they are thermoformed and made of high-quality materials that comply with Reach regulations, such as 1200D polyester, high strength PVC, PU and thermoformed EVA coated with anti-scratch PU, ensuring durability and protection of your belongings.

ST611

To gain load capacity in an easy and comfortable way on a sport bike we can look to a tank bag. The Sport-T rangeincludes the ST611+ with 6-litre capacity and Tanklock attachment system, which allows you to easily attach and remove it from the bike. It also features a rain cover, a window with a smartphone pocket, a carrying handle and reflective print for increased visibility.

It is equipped with the Seatlock system, which, like the previous one, allows you to put it on and take it off easily and comfortably. It has a waterproof cover, an ergonomic handle, an adjustable shoulder strap and reflective elements for greater visibility.

ST609

When it comes to taking longer journeys on a sport bike, the GIVI ST609 expandable side bags ensures the highest load capacity, with a capacity of 25 litres each. Their aerodynamic design, together with thermoformed material construction make them ideal for carrying your belongings safely. Their rigid yet lightweight construction and Easylock fastening system allows for quick attachment and detachment from the bike, while the water-resistant heat-sealed liner keeps it waterproof. It also includes internal elastics for load stability, a secondary compartment in the inner lid, a handle for manual carrying and an internal mesh pocket. These expandable side bags are the perfect choice for the sport bike enthusiast looking for functionality and style on the road.

A good companion for everyday use or for carrying a small amount of luggage in a sports car is the ST606 backpack, with a 22-litre capacity and a thermoformed lid. This backpack combines a sleek design with great stability even at high speeds. Features include two side pockets, one of which can hold a 1-litre bottle, side zips with reflective covers, a breathable padded backrest, a side strap for carrying a helmet, and chest and waist straps for extra stability.

ST608+

Finally, there are the leg bags, one of the most used accessories by bikers, as they are both versatile and functional. Within the Sport-T range there is the ST608+, with a capacity of 3 litres. This bag is attached by means of an adjustable and removable waist strap, with the option of attaching it directly to the trousers, along with other straps on the leg that are elastic and adjustable, with a closure that prevents the bag from turning during the ride. GIVI celebrates its 45th anniversary in style at Motorcycle Live Show and EICMA

Once again the transalpine brand had a considerable presence at both fairs this year, where it showcased its new products.

GIVI turned 45 years old this year and wanted to celebrate it in style at two of the most renowned events in the world of two wheels: the Motorcycle Live Show and EICMA. It pulled this off through an incredible stand, in which it has exhibited all its products, among which there are some remarkable new items that will be available next year. And on the occasion of this important anniversary, it launched a special edition of its top-of-the-range top case, the Maxia 5, with white covers, symbolising the brand’s bright future, which EICMA visitors were able to see for the first time.

GIVI was founded in 1978 by motorcycle racer Giuseppe Visenzi. Visenzi’s great passion and determination for the motorbike industry were reflected in the careful and meticulous design and manufacturing of the brand’s accessories from the very beginning. This resulted in the transalpine firm rapidly expanding nationally and internationally, to become one of the most influential and innovative producers on the current scene, with a catalogue of high quality products that adapt to the needs of all motorcyclists. It boasts of a list that continues to grow with different newbies this year, which were presented at some of the most important events in the world of two wheels: the Motorcycle Live Show and EICMA.

For a long time, the Italian brand has been participating each year in the Motorcycle Live Show, a fair held in Birmingham, which took place this November, from the 18th to the 26th. It was more than a week during which two-wheel enthusiasts, as well as professionals from the sector, specialised journalists and even internationally renowned riders, were able to see first-hand what’s new in the industry for 2024. As usual, GIVI had its own stand, decorated with 45th anniversary motifs, where some of the new products that were also taken to EICMA were exhibited, with the Maxia 5 being the chief protagonist.

Visitors were also able to enjoy an extensive display of the brand’s helmets, including some of the new graphics that will be available next year. This was a huge attraction, along with several fully equipped motorbikes on display, such as Honda’s CRF300 Rally and a Honda Transalp, as well as a specific space for the bike range.

GIVI at EICMA
The Italian brand chose this important trade fair in Milan to begin the celebration of its 45 years in the industry. It was a commemoration that revolved around its top of the range top case, the Maxia 5, as a symbol of the evolution of its cases through all its years of experience. To this end, they presented a new version with different coloured top cases and a special anniversary edition in white.

What’s more, its spectacular stand decorated with 45th anniversary graphics showcased its latest launches, complete with an eclectic selection of products designed to meet all the needs of motorcyclists, which are the result of years of experience and research. Among its new products are the softbags which form the X-Line range, the XL09, the T525 top bag for carrying pets on a motorbike, the Arena top case and all the new graphics for its models of helmets.

GIVI Explorer, the perfect place to enjoy motorbike adventures

The transalpine company’s project offers tips, first-person experiences, advice, routes and everything you need to share your passion for two wheels through its updated website

GIVI, the transalpine motorbike and motorcyclist equipment company, has been making life easier for two-wheeled users for 45 years, accompanying and inspiring them at all times. They do this not only through their accessories but also other actions, such as GIVI Explorer, a specific project for the most adventurous riders. This initiative, which was born 10 years ago from the “Explore. Enjoy” philosophy with the intention of paying tribute to everything that makes a motorbike trip so special, is being renewed in 2023 with a redesign of its website.

GIVI Explorer was born out of the “Explore. Enjoy” philosophy, with which the transalpine firm wants to inspire all bikers to travel, explore, cross evocative landscapes and share its passion for motorbikes. All this went into the first GIVI Tour that took place in 2013 in Patagonia. Since then, the brand has worked hard to offer the best motorbike experiences and showcase them on its website. To celebrate their tenth anniversary in style this year, they have taken a trip through the incredible Dolomites with a stop at the legendary Stelvio Pass, the iconic mountain pass recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as completely overhauling their website.

Get to know other riders’ experiences
The GIVI Explorer website has a section that narrates and highlights the experiences lived by other two-wheel users. What’s more, each of them includes a map with all the places they visited, the equipment they were carrying and a multitude of photos, so that others can enjoy the same experience.

In addition to all of this, there is a section within the platform called Are you an explorer?” Through that, all users can share their experiences riding motorbikes to be part of the trips that appear on the website. GIVI Explorer also offers the opportunity to send projects that motorcyclists have in mind so the transalpine firm can help make them a reality.

Top travel tips
Another great advantage of the GIVI Explorer is its extensive tips section for all types of locations and trips on two wheels. This section is divided into three main groups. The first includes tips on how to deal with different situations that may arise on the road, from having to lift the bike, to crossing a river, to riding on dirt roads. The second features recommendations on what equipment to take on the motorbike depending on the place you are going to visit. And the third is advice for each destination, ranging from what documents to carry, what vaccinations to have, whether you need specific health insurance, information on the safety of the countryyou are visiting, fuel tips, the best dates to travel and even options for renting motorbikes at your destination.

Choose your route
When travelling to a foreign country that you don’t know so well, it can be difficult to choose the right route. With that in mind, GIVIhas designed a section with different itineraries created around the world that can be downloaded to facilitate the adventure for all bikers. These guides are accompanied by comments from other travellers who have done them, along with the equipment they have used, as well as photos and videos.

Two GIVI Looks for the Yamaha Ténéré

The transalpine motorbike and rider equipment company has everything you need to equip this adventure bike.

GIVI has 45 years of experience in designing equipment. And this experience can be seen in its extensive range of products which meets all the needs of two-wheeled enthusiasts, whatever their ride may be. What’s more, it also has a wide range of accessories specifically designed to fit perfectly with the best-selling motorbikes in their specific sector. One of the benchmarks in the trail/adventure market is the Yamaha Ténéré, for which the Italian brand offers two looks.

The combination of good value for money, elegant design, a good engine and a great chassis make the Yamaha Ténéré 700 one of the dominant bikes in the trail world as well as one of the best sellers in our country. Keeping the owners of this amazing bike in mind, GIVI has made a multitude of accessories available that fit the bike like a glove, such as side cases and rear boots that have specific attachments, tank bags, saddlebags and even screens.

A look for off-road adventures
The best companions for the Yamaha Ténéré on road trips are hard cases. Among all the models in GIVI’s extensive range, the best fit for this bike is the Trekker Outback. This set consists of a top case, available in two sizes (58 litres or 42l.), and side cases, which also  come in two versions (37l. or 48l.). They have an aluminium structure and internal reinforcements in profiled aluminium. They are also equipped with the new MONOKEY® CAM-SIDE fastening system, a fastening mechanism made of die-cast aluminium and reinforced technopolymer inserts, which offers extra safety.

To complete this look, the Italian brand suggests adding the XL01 and XL03 extensible soft bags, which can be attached by straps on top of the panniers. They are made of polyester, nylon, TPU and an external material highly resistant to UV rays. Its base features an anti-slip coating, which makes them water resistant. That’s not all – they include an external top pocket separate from the main compartment, carry handles and reflective print for increased visibility, among other features.

The ultimate off-road package
The Ténéré is an ideal bike for off-road riding, an activity you don’t want to do unless you are well equipped. For this, GIVI has the Canyon range of bags that are specifically designed for off-road riding and are a perfect match for this Yamaha model. The GRT720 saddlebags, which both have a capacity of 25 litres, are equipped with a Security Lock and feature adjustable top and bottom straps with buckle snap closure to maintain tension. Another option is the GRT723 top bag, which features a capacity of 40 litres, and offers great practicality even during stops, thanks to the ergonomic front handle, which makes it easy to grip and carry.

GIVI Dives into the World of Electric Motorbikes

The Italian firm offers a wide range of products to meet the needs of any electric motorbike user, whatever their style.

The world is increasingly turning towards a sustainable, environmentally friendly and electric future. And the two-wheeled sector is no exception. GIVI has joined this new mobility trend that believes in a responsible lifestyle, offering storage solutions for all types of scooters and electric motorbikes, to make life easier for all riders who choose to reduce their emissions, whatever their means of travel.

GIVI, the transalpine firm of motorbike and motorcyclist equipment, is constantly working to offer solutions to two-wheeled users. In this case, they have focussed on those who choose to be environmentally friendly. Having listened to their specific needs, it has put together a complete range of modern accessories that transform and enhance electric mobility through the relentless pursuit of aesthetics, performance and innovation.

Electrifying urban style
The area where electric mobility has made the biggest inroads is the urban environment. More and more people are opting for electric scooters to get around town. For this reason, GIVI has made a selection of products to equip the main models on the market.

To add load capacity to electric scooters, GIVI has a multitude of top cases. Of these, the B32 BOLD stands out – a top case with a 32-litre capacity, equivalent to a modular helmet, which features a MONOLOCK® system and universal attachment system, which allows it to be mounted on almost any motorbike.

The transalpine firm also has a wide range of different helmets to suit the most urban tastes. One of this year’s new products, the X.25, is perfectly suited to the needs of everyday city riders. It’s a jet helmet with premium features such as the smoked inner visor and its ventilation system. An electric adventure
For all enduro enthusiasts with an electric motorbike, GIVI has a series of accessories in its catalogue to meet their needs. Such as the GRT719 backpack, with a 3-litre capacity and integrated hydration bag. This bag is specially designed for offroad use. There it boasts details such as a perfect adherence to the rider’s body, a chest strap with integrated whistle and a quick release strap to facilitate the removal of the backpack from the shoulders.

The transalpine firm also has a helmet specifically designed for these styles, the 60.1. It’s made with the latest technology, the best materials and has meets the new European homologation ECE 22R06 standards. Its interior is made of hypoallergenic, removable and washable fabric. What’s more, it has an adjustable visor, a “Double D” strap closure, which provides greater safety, and front and upper air intakes and in the chin guard, together with a rear extractor.

Electrify your route
Motorbike touring enthusiasts who have embraced electric mobility can count on GIVI to offer a wide range of products to meet their specific needs. Like its new top case, the Riviera E46, made of thermoformed plastic using a system of embossed moulds, which makes it more rigid, without renouncing the clean, rounded lines that favour aerodynamics. In addition, it has a high level of waterproofing that has been assessed in numerous tests.

For all touring users GIVI has a wide range of modular helmets, including one of this year’s new models: the X.21. It incorporates aventilation system consisting of 2 air intakes and a rear extractor, as well as a micrometric strap, lift-up chin guard, windshield, removable nose guard and removable and washable interior. In terms of safety, it has been certified with a double P/J homologation in accordance with the ECE 22R06 standard.

Speed makes no noise
GIVI has always paid attention to the needs of the most sporty motorcyclists in order to satisfy them through the constant search for aesthetics, high performance and innovation in their accessories. An example of this is their top of the range helmet, the 50.9, which is approved according to the ECE 22-06 standard, the most recent and the most demanding to date. Correct air circulation is guaranteed thanks to its three front air intakes and two rear extractors. What’s more, the interior is completely removable and washable and is made of hypoallergenic fabric.

To meet the needs of load capacity without having to add anything to the electric sports bike, GIVI has a large selection of reinforced soft bags to suit all tastes. Without a doubt, the one with sportiest style is the ST606, a backpack with a thermoformed lid and capacity of 22 litres. It’s specifically designed to be used on sports bikes, offering perfect stability even at high speeds. It doesn’t end there: it’s made with side zips covered with reflective materials to deflect air and prevent it from opening unexpectedly.

Café racer style and electric innovation
For motorbike enthusiasts with a unique and timeless style, GIVI accessories are also suitable for electric models. This is the case with the 10.7, a demi-jet helmet with a compact size that allows it to be stowed in the small spaces under the saddle. It also has has a lightness – it weighs less than one kilogram – which makes it stand out. Its standard features include a strap with micrometric closure, removable interior and pads and a ventilation system with rear extractor, something unusual in this type of helmet and a feature which sets it apart from the competition.

A practical and different option to increase the load capacity on a classic motorbike is a tank bag. In the GIVI catalogue you can find a model specifically designed for these motorbikes, the CRM103, which is fixed by 4 removable magnets that attach to the tank, together with 4 additional straps.

These, and many more GIVI items, provide a boost for motorcycle trips and make any journey on two wheels a more comfortable experience. For more information about this product or any other accessories for your motorcycle visit www.givi.co.uk or call 01327 706220.

Get ready for the holiday of a lifetime with GIVI

The new 50.7 full face helmet is perfect for the getaways and long trips that are just around the corner.

GIVI, the Italian motorbike and motorcycling equipment company, which celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2023, presents its new 50.7 model helmet. With a thermoplastic shell and ECE 22.06 homologation, which guarantees maximum safety, this helmet also features an advanced ventilation system that ensures rider comfort. This makes it the ideal choice for two-wheeled enthusiasts who are planning routes and trips during the warmer months of the year.

PHOBIA

In 2002 GIVI, the transalpine brand, launched its first helmet with the aim of continuing to make everyday life easier for motorcyclists all over the world. Now, in the midst of celebrating its 45th anniversary, the firm has just presented its new full-face model, with both a sport character as well as one suited to touring: the 50.7. It’s a helmet conceived and designed for those who find their home on the roads and enjoy long routes and even journeys of hundreds (or thousands) of kilometres.

Rebel

The GIVI 50.7 has a thermoplastic shell, available in two sizes, a stainless steel micrometric fastener, and is certified according to the ECE 22.06 European standard, the most recent and demanding standard to date. This means the helmet has passed impact tests with 12 new points, as well as high and low speed tests and the oblique impact test, confirming it as one of the safest helmets on the market.

Rebel

Rider comfort is also guaranteed, thanks to the incorporation of an elaborate ventilation system, consisting of three air intakes (two at the top and one in the chin guard) and two rear extractors, which allow for correct air circulation and, therefore, temperature regulation. It also features a removable nose pad and a specific windshield, as well as a hypoallergenic, removable and washable interior. What’s more, it has an anti-scratch visor and is also prepared for Pinlock® (not included) to ensure perfect vision at all times and in all conditions.

On the outside, it’s sporty, but not as aggressive as the GIVI’s racing models, with a design featuring elegant and sophisticated lines. For now, it’s available in three different graphics (Solid Color – matt black or glossy white, Rebel – black, with details in grey and turquoise or red, and Phobia, black with geometric lines in fuchsia or red and in grey with the lines in black), which will appeal to not only the user with classic tastes, but to those also seeking a more daring design.

Solid

The GIVI 50.7 helmet is available in sizes ranging from XS to 2XL, for 132.90 £ (Solid Color) or 139.90 £ (Rebel and Phobia).

These, and many more GIVI items, provide a boost for motorcycle trips and make any journey on two wheels a more comfortable experience.

A GIVI graphic for each of the best-selling off-road bikes

The Italian firm adds three new versions to the 60.1 helmet, bringing the number of colour variants to 13 which will suit the tastes of all bikers.

GIVI’S first off-road helmet, the 60.1, was born less than a year ago. It was the result of countless hours of research, laboratory tests and various competition tests carried out by Simone Cristini, a World Enduro rider who worked with the transalpine firm on the helmet’s design. The multitude of graphics and variants available on this model mean it is sure to match with any of the best-selling enduro bikes currently on the market. Two new versions of its already well-known Invert graphics as well as the Gloom, a completely new design which features an innovative and rogue aesthetic, are new for 2023.

GIVI is a benchmark in the motorbike and motorcyclist accessories sector, partly due to its highly developed R&D department. Throughout the design process at its Brescia factory, GIVI believes it’s essential to listen to its users’ needs. For this reason, they have expanded their helmet catalogue to a total of 17 different models in recent years, with a multitude of graphics to adapt to the official colours of the main brands on the market, and to cater to the tastes of all two-wheeled enthusiasts. This is the case with the 60.1, of which there are three new versions in 2023.

This full-face helmet has more than 13 multicolour variations that are in line with current trends. They are divided into three graphics. The latest and most daring is the Gloom, a mix of black and red details imitating a skull, as well as a design with a splash effect. The selection doesn’t end there. The Invert, with straight and aggressive lines and a sportier style, also adds two new colours to its range this year: one in red, white and black, which is a perfect match for the GasGas EC 350, and another which boasts a more restrained design, which comes in different shades of black for the more discreet bikers. These new models, together with all its previous variants, allow the 60.1 to perfectly match the official colours of the best-selling off-road bikes.

The 60.1 has been thoroughly developed with the latest technology, the best materials and under the new European ECE 22R06 homologation. This means the tests it has passed include impact tests at different speeds – on screens, rotational, on inclined surfaces or by particles at high speed – and are more comprehensive and demanding. What’s more, all its accessories, such as the visors, also have this certification.

Its shell is made from technopolymer and features hypoallergenic fabric on the inside, designed with an attractive camouflage finish, which is detachable, removable and washable. It also includes an adjustable visor, a “Double D” strap closure for greater safety, and front, upper and chin guard air intakes, together with a rear extractor. It’s available in sizes XS to XXL at £145.90.

Click here to see Simone Cristini put the GIVI 60.1 to the test.

And click here if you want to know more about the 60.1 from a host of GIVI specialists.

These, and many more GIVI items, provide a boost for motorcycle trips and make any journey on two wheels a more comfortable experience.

Welcome to MyGARAGE

GIVI launches its new virtual meeting point between the Italian brand and two-wheel users with a wide range of advantages.

Often when we buy something for our motorbike, it can be difficult to understand the instruction manual to mount it, to know what accessories we can add to it or even to manage its warranty. In a bid to offer the best solution to any of these problems, GIVI, the renowned transalpine brand of motorbike and motorcyclist equipment, is betting on the latest technology, both in the design of its products and in dealing with its customers, to create its new platform, MyGARAGE. It’s a website designed for lovers of two wheels where we can find goodies of all kinds, like extensions of up to two years of warranty on GIVI items, video tutorials on the assembly of its accessories, instruction manuals for accessories, recommendations for the bike, wish lists and even a summary of all the GIVI materials we have. It’s an exclusive club that meets the requirements of even the most demanding bikers.

MyGARAGE is a new way to connect all GIVI customers. Imagine it as a kind of spokesperson for the brand. Through a direct exchange of information between the manufacturer and the user, this platform will be beneficial for both. Consumers will be able to offer feedback on the brand’s products and influence product updates or upcoming product launches, allowing the company to know and offer solutions to all the needs that motorcyclists may have. At the same time, those same motorcyclists will receive special treatment and exclusive opportunities.

The platform is simple to use. It can be accessed on the GIVI website, where we can register in MyGARAGE, filling in our details and disclosing the model of our motorbike. Once we have logged in, we will find a desktop where the vehicle we selected when we registered will appear. On this screen we can add the GIVI products we already have, extend their warranty for 2 years by filling in a short form and access their instruction manuals. What’s more, there is a section where we find some items recommended for our bike, or that might interest us according to the accessories we already have.

It also has a gallery classified by categories where we can find anything, from interviews with members of the LCR MotoGP Team, to videos showing the new products, tutorial videos or different experiences of other lovers of two wheels. It’s an interesting section for those who want to know a little more about the brand and everything they do.

The platform also allows us to create a wish list in which we can include all the brand’s products that we would like to have on our bike and see their price at that moment. Finally, we have a section where we can access all the catalogues of the Italian brand. And that’s not all. If you access the GIVI website once you have logged in to MyGARAGE, you can add references to both the wish list and the list of accessories you already have on your bike. In addition, this website has personalisation options, allowing you to change elements such as the cover photo, profile image or user name.

GIVI has taken a step forward, not just in technology and innovation, but also in its relationship with the customer. Through MyGARAGE, and the safety of its products, it’s offering the best attention to its users and a perfect solution to any need that may arise on the motorbike.

GIVI MAXIA 5: welcome to the future

This high-end top case leads the way in its range with 58 litres of capacity, making it the perfect choice for everyday use as well as for long journeys.

After years of evolution achieved through constant hard work, innovation and active listening, GIVI launches the fifth version of its MAXIA – an elegant top case, with futuristic touches and the latest technology, which responds to one of the main needs of motorbike users: storage capacity. The versatility of this modern top case makes it the perfect companion for long routes, as well as the ideal ally for everyday life.

GIVI, the Italian motorbike and motorcycling equipment company, launched the first version of the MAXIA top case, the E50, in 1991. 32 years later, the essence of that first top case has been maintained, with which the brand sought to solve the need for extra space of those who get about on a motorbike or travel longer distances on it. But everything else has evolved into a high-end product with the latest technology, a top case whose versatility makes it an unbeatable option for urbanites as well as for those who enjoy long trips on two wheels.

The versatile fifth version of this iconic suitcase is a complete redesign, where elegance and sophistication are still present, but with a futuristic character. Thanks to the application of the Innovative Molding process, the MAXIA 5, features an optimised weight of 5.4 kilos and boasts a greater strength than its predecessor. Its total capacity is 58 litres (the size of two modular helmets), making it the largest plastic top case from GIVI in its sector. In addition, its bottom is covered with a mat to prevent objects from sliding around and it has a cover to store documentation.

It’s also equipped with a Security Lock (double hook lock for greater security) and opening and closing is much easier than the previous model, thanks to the incorporation of comb-type hinges with end stop. As a result, it’s only necessary to exert light pressure on the lid to close it. What’s more, the adhesion between lid and bottom has been improved, thus increasing the case’s anti-theft security.

The MAXIA 5 top case features four customisable aluminium-coloured overlaps (which improve the aforementioned resistance), a red reflector that runs along the entire front of the lid and two chrome-plated trims on the front of the bottom.

GIVI also offers a range of optional accessories for this model, including a black foam backrest, a document holder in technical fabric and a specific inner bag.

The MAXIA 5 top case is available from £355.83 + VAT. To know a little more about it, watch this video.

GIVI: half a life of experience and innovation in its helmets

The great evolution of the transalpine company has led it to achieve the greatest comfort, style and safety in head protection on a motorbike.

GIVI, motorcycle and motorcyclist equipment brand, has been working for more than 20 years in the design and manufacture of top level helmets. Two decades in which, through innovation, active listening and constant effort, it has achieved that its products reach the highest levels of quality and safety, becoming one of the first manufacturers to launch models on the market that have passed the tough and demanding tests of the ECE 22-06 standard.

1920 marked the beginning of the technical evolution of motorcycling helmets with the first soft leather models derived from the world of aviation. Thirty years later, jet helmets appeared and in the 1970s the first full-face helmet was developed. It was around this time – in 1978 to be precise – that GIVI was founded by Giuseppe Visenzi as a manufacturer of motorbike accessories. But it was not until 2002 that the transalpine company began its journey in the world of helmets, with the 10.1 jet. Two decades have passed since then, a time in which it has continued to produce and improve its products to the point it has become a reference in a sector that has recently seen the approval of a new and demanding regulation: ECE 22.06.

With the 10.1, the Italian brand managed to catch up with its rivals. Despite marking GIVI’s beginning in the sector, the jet included a removable visor and adjustable air intake – features on a par with the competition’s models.

Their first modular, the X.08, came out in 2008 with the same features as most helmets in the industry, with two different sizes of thermoplastic shells depending on size and a synthetic polyester foam liner. What’s more, there was a micrometric quick release fastener to speed up putting the helmet on and taking it off.

In 2013 it launched its first full-face model, the X.01. Made of thermoplastic with an EPS interior and a synthetic polyester fabric lining bonded with polyurethane foam, it more than met the standards of the time. It also had a ZSP Micro 01 micrometric closure with a polyester strap, features and materials that, although they have improved over the years, are still present in GIVI helmets.

GIVI’s path in this sector wasn’t an easy one. They had to carve out a niche in a sector filled with brands and specialists who boasted years of experience. It wasn’t enough for them to have earned a leading position in the production of motorbike and scooter accessories. So they set up an in-house laboratory with state-of-the-art technology and specialised engineers and technicians. Here they carry out crash tests and recreate all possible riding situations, taking into account atmospheric conditions and simulating the tests that the helmet has to pass in order to achieve certification. All this is what has made the difference, allowing the brand to quickly catch up with its competitors.

All the helmets mentioned above, as well as the rest of the previous GIVI ranges, have been tested under the ECE 22-05 standard since its inception as a helmet manufacturer. Therefore, the enormous trajectory of its R&D department, together with its experience in carrying out the tests required by this standard, has led to the production of increasingly safer helmets. And with the incorporation of the ECE 22-06 homologation, their adaptation to it has been much quicker, simpler and more efficient.

Thanks to their long history of developing and testing these products, last year GIVI launched models with the new standard. Their first off-road helmet, the 60.1, together with the 50.9 and 50.8 full-face helmets, presented at EICMA 2021, were the first with ECE 22-06 homologation, demonstrating had successfully anticipated its obligatory nature. From that moment on, the new GIVI helmets are produced under this standard and work is already underway on the homologation of all its previous models that are still on the market.

With this, GIVI proves it’s at the forefront, not only in the motorbike accessories sector, but also in the motorbike equipment sector. This is the perfect end to 20 years of history as a helmet manufacturer, and the road ahead is full of innovation and quality.

These, and many more GIVI items, provide a boost for motorcycle trips and make any journey on two wheels a more comfortable experience. For more information about this product or any other accessories for your motorcycle visit www.givi.co.uk or call 01327 706220.

The start of a new year is here, full of opportunities, plans, trips and, of course, countless motorbike journeys. With the aim that all users of the market are prepared for 2023, GIVI, the transalpine firm of motorbike and motorcyclist equipment, offers a selection of 4 essentials within its extensive catalogue which are ideal for all tastes and styles. These range from choices based in adventure riding to those more in tune with racing, touring and even café racers and the classics.
