2024 Arai Limited Edition IOM TT Design Unveiling

The Isle of Man TT Races just keeps getting better, and bigger every year. The spectacular celebration of motorcycling, raced over 37.73 miles of real roads, draws competitors and fans from around the world.

It’s also an event that for decades has run through Arai’s DNA. Many of the TT racers wear Arai for the performance, protection and comfort at high speeds that the brand’s helmets offer, while we put great effort into supporting all Arai wearers in the Isle with service and spares.

The recently renewed style of the Isle of Man TT Races has proven to be great inspiration for Aldo Drudi’s stunning new design, which draws on the key colourways with sleek racing stripes. As ever, the key components always present are the Triskelion (three legs of man) unified by a bold ‘double’ TT logo on the sides, subtle chequered flag motif and Ellan Vannin (Isle of Man in Manx) neatly placed on the bottom.

Underneath this spectacular new design, we always try to find something to improve. It’s our Priority for Protection: a relentless pursuit for more gains in protection in addition to meeting required safety standards. That is why we continue to evolve head protection by making steadfast improvements wherever possible, building on our unbroken seven decades of foundation in our three-generation family company. We do this with a rounder, stronger and smoother outer shell that excels in Glancing Off (impact energy management) at the core of every Arai helmet. After all, what we are seeking to protect is priceless.

Akihito Arai, Arai Helmet (Europe) B.V. Managing Director:
“Wow. This is always a special moment for all of us at Arai Helmet and the 2024 RX-7V Limited Edition EVO IoM TT is absolutely amazing. Drudi Performance has excelled and created something so fresh, yet with all the elements of the design that fans and collectors expect. We had no idea when we started 15 years ago how important every year’s special TT helmet would become to so many people. All I can say now is – roll on next year’s TT!”

Metzeler appointed as the Official Tyre of the Isle of Man TT

Metzeler will be the sole Official Tyre of the most iconic motorcycle road race until 2027.

The Metzeler tyre brand has been selected by the Department for Enterprise of the Isle of Man as Official Tyre with a sponsorship contract for the TT Races for the five-year period 2023-2027.

Paul Phillips, Head of Motorsport – Isle of Man Department for Enterprise
“Metzeler are a welcome addition to the line-up of official sponsoring brands for this year’s Isle of Man TT Races. Our commercial objective is to work collaboratively with our Official partners to add value to the TT experience for everyone involved in the event. Metzeler is already integrally associated with the TT and is the tyre of choice for many teams competing in the event, with a proven performance track record. We are sure that this will be a successful partnership that will grow in strength over the years to come.”

Francesco Pietrangeli, Motorcycle Marketing Director Metzeler brand
“The Isle of Man TT is one of the oldest and best known motorcycle races in the world and has a unique and timeless appeal. Metzeler tyres have been involved in Road Racing for some time and over the years have contributed to the successes of many riders by supporting them and making our RACETEC RR tyres available to them. We are very delighted with the agreement which represents the natural evolution of our commitment to Road Racing and it is also the best way to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the birth of our brand”.

The Tourist Trophy has been run since 1907 on the road circuit of the Snaefell Mountain Course, a 60.720 km track on the Isle of Man. Over the years it has become an iconic competition characterised by charm, tradition, glory, passion and adrenaline, values also shared by those choosing Metzeler tyres, a brand that boasts a history of over a century and a half full of motorsport successes and technology.

The Metzeler RACETEC RR tyres already used by the riders have been developed thanks to Metzeler’s experience in Road Racing competitions which, as is known, do not take place on circuits but on roads which are open to the public throughout the year and where all the situations that any motorcyclist may have to face on a daily basis can be found. And it is precisely for this reason that road racing has always been the testing and development ground for Metzeler tyres. Thanks to its participation in Road Racing activities and to the acquired know-how, Metzeler tyre range has enriched by giving life to successful tyres, not least the sporty SPORTEC M9 RR.

Honda Racing UK and Motul – a brand-new partnership

Honda Racing UK and Motul – a brand-new partnership in BSB and on the Roads
Honda Racing UK and Motul – a brand-new partnership in BSB and on the Roads.

Honda Racing UK is pleased to announce a new sponsorship agreement with Motul, as they challenge the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, as well as making their long-awaited return to the Roads at the International North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT Races in 2022.

This year presents huge milestones for the Honda Racing UK team, one of which is the 30th Anniversary of the iconic Fireblade, which is represented on the livery of the teams’ CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP machines, as well as the rider leathers throughout the BSB and road racing season.

This is the first time Honda Racing UK and Motul have worked together in both the British Superbike Championship, as well as on the roads for the NW200 and the TT, which this year sees Motul brand ambassador John McGuinness return to Honda machinery and celebrate his 100th TT race start.

The team is busy preparing for the start of the season, with the first official BSB test set to take place at Snetterton on 25-27 March, but for those who can’t wait that long, the 30th Anniversary livery will be making its debut at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show (11-13 February), where it will be on display on the Honda stand.

Havier Beltran, Honda Racing UK Team Manager:
“2022 is an exciting season for the team across both BSB and the Roads; we have Tom stepping up into the Superbike class, John back on Honda machinery, Glenn finally making his TT debut, as well as celebrating 30 years of the Fireblade and we’re welcoming Motul as a new sponsor, which is the first time for us in the British Championship. Motul have a great pedigree on the Roads, as well as numerous successes across two-wheel motorsport, and we’re looking forward to getting the season underway and working with the team there.

Günter Steven, Head of Sales Export Motul Deutschland:
“As one of the leading motorbike manufacturers in the United Kingdom, Honda trusts our premium range of high-performance lubricants and motorcycle care products as well as our sales concepts for their dealer network – we are very pleased about this and it is a solid basis on which we will build a successful cooperation. The fact that we also share the same values on top of that, as well as a great commitment to motorsport, offers both of us the perfect basis for a long-term partnership.  We can’t wait to merge our collective knowledge and experience in both trade and motorsport to create a great synergy together.”

Neil Fletcher, Head of Motorcycles, Honda UK:
“We are delighted to announce a new working partnership with Motul this year. They have a wealth of success across many motorsport series around the world and I have been impressed by their passion and professionalism. It’s great to form a new partnership together in such an important and special year as the Fireblade celebrates its 30th Anniversary in both BSB and the Roads. We have a busy few months ahead with testing starting soon, the BSB championship on the near horizon and we can’t wait to head back to Northern Ireland for the NW200 and then quickly on to the TT with Glenn making his first start and John his 100th!”

Suzuki remembers Mitsuo Ito

Mitsuo Ito, the first and only Japanese rider to win at the Isle of Man TT, has passed away at the age of 82.

Born on 1 January, 1937, Ito san was a lifelong Suzuki employee and made his Grand Prix debut in 1961. Two years later he won the Ultra-Lightweight TT on his Suzuki RK67, and he remains the only Japanese rider to win around the famous 37.73-mile course. In 2008 he returned to the Isle of Man with Suzuki GB to celebrate his achievements.

Ito’s TT win also helped establish Suzuki as a global brand, taking the Japanese firm from domestic manufacturer to worldwide motorcycling powerhouse. It also paved the way for a golden era of Suzuki successes in Grand Prix racing.

During his own racing career he finished fifth in the 50cc world championship four times in consecutive years, between 1962 and 1965. His final win, fittingly, came at the Japanese Grand Prix in 1967.

Following his retirement from competition he continued to work on Suzuki’s racing activities – including a brief foray in car racing – working with both the machines and personnel, including the 1993 world champion Kevin Schwantz.

After his experiences at the Isle of Man TT, he also helped design Suzuki’s famous Ryuyo test track, where all new Suzuki machines are still tested and developed today.
He was inducted into the Motorcycle Federation of Japan (MFJ) Motorcycle Sport Hall of Fame last December for his achievement at the 1963 Isle of Man TT.

Suzuki GB director, Paul de Lusignan commented, “It was an absolute pleasure to know and spend time with Ito san. He had time for everybody, and made an effort to get to know and speak with dealers and staff alike during his visits to Suzuki GB and on our trip to the Isle of Man together in 2008. He was also very warm and welcoming when I had the pleasure of visiting his home in Japan. He was very highly thought of by everyone at Suzuki, and also members of the media throughout the years who had the good fortune to meet and work with him. All of our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.”
Mitsuo Ito’s funeral will take place on Saturday in Hamamatsu, Japan.
