Major update for LS2 Stream Helmet

Complete refresh for LS2’s popular sub-£100 full-face helmet.

Completely redesigned, with a new shell and fully approved to the latest ECE 22.06 standard, the LS2 Stream II represents even more value for riders on a budget.

Updates start with an all-new KPA (Kinetic Polymer Alloy) shell, which offers high penetration resistance and energy dispersion for real peace of mind. It comes in three external shell sizes, to give the smallest possible profile in each size range. This also helps to reduce average weight to just 1550 grams.

Alongside the low weight, aerodynamic-shaping helps keep the head stable. Its long-oval shape and laser-cut foam inserts follow the natural contour of the head, for a snug and comfortable fit.

Dynamic Flow-through Ventilation – with intake ports at the forehead and chin, internal channels and exhaust ports – allows a cooling breeze when needed. The hypoallergenic liner adds a luxury feel, and is removable and washable.

To help reduce misting, a breath deflector is fitted and the 3D Optically Correct visor is Pinlock MaxVision-ready. A drop-down sun visor – easily operated with a gloved hand – also features.

Secured with a micrometric buckle, the Stream II is available in sizes XS-3XL and comes in a choice of solid colours (RRP £99.99) and eye-catching graphic finishes RRP £119.99). All models come with a handy carry bag and reflective stickers.

New LS2 composite flip-front helmet

Dual-homologated, 180-degree flip-front with a lightweight HPFC shell.

LS2’s Advant X is versatile, lightweight and has a host of practical features to make life on the road a breeze, whether riding in town or on the open road.

New for 2023, the Advant X has a High Performance Fibreglass Composite shell, which is strong, flexible and keeps weight down to just 1600 grams – very light for a helmet of this type. It’s also tested to the latest ECE 22.06 safety standard.

Two helmets in one, the Advant X is fully certified P/J for use in the open and closed position, and transforms from open to full face in seconds. The opening mechanism holds the chin bar close to the face, so there’s less leverage on the neck and head when opening and closing. It also automatically lifts the visor with the chin bar, for hassle-free operation.

The visor itself is made from scratch and UV-resistant 3D Optically Correct Polycarbonate for maximum clarity. It’s Pinlock Max Vision-ready and features an intuitive release mechanism for quick and easy removal and refitting. Behind that is a drop-down sun visor for instant relief from the sun’s glare.

Ventilation ports at the chin and forehead, internal channelling through the EPS liner; and large exhaust ports at the rear, offer a cooling flow of air when the temperature rises. Inside there’s a breathable and hypoallergenic comfort liner, which can be removed and washed. The shell is designed with a ‘long-oval’ shape to follow the natural contour of the head. Combined with Laser-Cut Foam inserts, it gives a snug and reassuring fit.

Practical touches like a chin curtain, to help reduce wind noise,  the quick release Micrometric Metal Buckle and Emergency Release System cheek pads, add to the day-to-day practicality.

The LS2 Advant X is available in four solid colour options and four eye-catching graphic schemes. It comes – as standard – with a Pinlock Max Vision insert, Helmet Bag, Carrying Rucksack and Air Bag Support, for easy cleaning and maintenance. Prices start from just £299.99.

New ultra light LS2 Carbon Helmet

Accessibly-priced, premium spec, full carbon road/touring helmet.

New for 2023, the Vector II Carbon brings the race-helmet technology of a 100% full carbon shell, with the comfort and practicality required for the road; all at a refreshingly accessible price.

100% CARBON SHELL
The Vector II Carbon’s premium spec starts at the outer shell, which is made from multiple layers of LS2’s 100% High-Grade Wide Weave carbon fibre. It offers high penetration resistance and energy dispersion, yet weighs in at just 1350 grams [± 50].

Designed and developed in LS2’s European HQ in Barcelona, it’s produced in six outer shell sizes for the smallest outline and closest possible fit in each size range.

It’s also aerodynamically optimised to help keep the head stable at speed and ease fatigue.

CRYSTAL CLEAR VISION
Up front there’s a 3D Optically Correct A-Class Polycarbonate visor, which sits in a wide aperture to maximise all-round vision.

It features an ingenious quick release system, for hassle free removal and fitting – just press on the two release tabs and it’s free.

The visor itself is UV, scratch and fog resistant. It’s also ready to accept tear-offs, and comes with a Pinlock Max Vision Anti Fog System as standard. Behind it sits a flip-down sun visor.

A breath deflector also features, to help channel moisture away and keep the view ahead crystal clear.

OPTIMISED AIRFLOW
A two-step ventilation port on the chin bar, twin intakes on the forehead, and a large exhaust port at the rear allow plenty of airflow, when needed.

Air is directed through internal channelling in the EPS liner to maximise cooling.

All three intakes are easy to open and close with gloved hands, so the wearer can tailor the airflow to suit the conditions.

FIRST CLASS COMFORT
Inside is a breathable hypoallergenic liner, which is removable and washable for year-round freshness.

The shell’s long-oval shaping follows the contours of the head for a natural fit and feel. Combined with Laser-Cut Foam inserts, it gives a reassuringly snug fit.

A Chin Curtain also comes as standard, helping to reduce wind noise; another real bonus on longer rides.

ECE 22.06 CERTIFIED
As you’d expect the Vector II is fully certified to the latest ECE 22.06 safety standard, for complete peace of mind.

Alongside its carbon fibre shell, Multi-Density EPS helps cushion the head from impact. An Emergency Release System allows first responders to remove the cheek pads with minimal movement of the wearer’s head and neck.

Safe and secure fastening is provided by the Reinforced Chin Strap and Micrometric Steel Buckle. It’s anchored firmly to the shell by LS2’s signature triangular Metal Security Plates.

The LS2 Vector II Carbon is available in a solid carbon finish priced £259.99, and five eye-catching graphic options retailing at just £289.99 – serious value for a full carbon road helmet.

Each one is supplied with a high quality storage bag, Pinlock MaxVision insert, reflective stickers and a handy Air Bag Support for maintenance and cleaning.

LS2 Explorer Plus Helmet Review

Maja Kenney of Maja’s Motorcycle Adventures reviews the LS2 Explorer Plus (Off-Road) Helmet.

Having ventured into the world of adventure motorcycling I needed a new helmet to match the activity and of course, my new adventure bike, too!

The first impression was a very positive one even before I took the helmet out of the box. The packaging itself is well thought out, with good design. The helmet itself is packed in the usual drawstring bag and as a bonus, it also comes with a carry bag. That’s my flight carry-on sorted. It also comes with an inflatable helmet ring for when you are fitting the comms to the helmet, removing the peak or the visor and generally storing it.

The helmet also comes with a pinlock and a set of blanking plates to use when the peak comes off. I love that about the helmet, I can use it with or without the peak depending on the type of riding I want to do. The removal of the peak is very easy, you need an allen key that comes in the box with the helmet and a Phillips screwdriver (you have to use your own) to remove the screw holding the peak in place at the top of the helmet. It took me 10 minutes to remove it the first time because I took a while to figure out how to take out the blanking plate at the top without breaking it (it just snaps in and out of the mount) but subsequent times the whole process took only a few minutes. I really like the sturdiness of the mounts and that you need to screw the visor in place, it feels much easier and not as flimsy as it does with the plastic systems on some other helmets.

The only thing I have noticed after using the helmet for a few weeks is that the rubber that seals the visor at the top seems to be rubbing against the pinlock when you open and close the visor. My pinlock now has visible markings at the sides. This is more of a cosmetic annoyance as it doesn’t impair the vision itself.

The look itself is quite aggressive, with the chin piece coming up very high and this does mean I had to slightly tilt my head down to see the bike’s dials (compared to the road helmets I have). However, it comes with a very wide side view which helps with the periphery vision.

With every new helmet, I know to expect it to be tight for the first few rides, some take a while to ‘bed in’ and stop giving me a tension headache. I was delighted to find out that the fit is excellent and even after wearing it for a good three hours on the first ride, I’ve almost forgotten I am wearing a brand new helmet.

The LS2 Explorer fits perfectly around the crown of my head and it squeezes my cheeks in place. There is plenty of space around the lower jaw and chin area which makes it easy to talk to your riding buddies if you are connected with intercoms or just to sing out loud happy tunes. Some helmets can make me feel a little bit claustrophobic if they are too tight around the chin area, especially on long rides. I love the LS2 fit because even after a full day’s riding I don’t feel confined in the helmet and at the same time I feel very safe.

The foam in the helmet is laser cut, and the inside is hypoallergenic and breathable. The liner is washable and the helmet comes with a chin curtain for the colder rides to keep the wind away from your neck. As per my previous point, even with the chin curtain the movement of my jaw is not restricted.

The helmet is made out of carbon fibre composite and weighs 1400 grams which is very light indeed. It is ECE 22.06 compliant and DOT certified and is manufactured in 3 shells to ensure a good fit across different sizes. The sizes range from XS to 2XL and it is a long oval shape.

There are several vents to help keep you cool, a chin vent, two at the top of the helmet and two side vents or exhaust ports. Thanks to their design, they are super easy to open/close with a gloved hand.

To ensure good protection the chin strap is reinforced, and it fastens with the double D Ring. Personally, I really like the colour and the finish of the D Rings, too. The helmet also comes with an emergency release system.

The visor is scratch resistant and the helmet also comes with an internal dark sun visor. I wish the sun visor would drop down a little lower to give you fewer lines in your field of vision  This is especially important for me as I have to wear spectacles when riding and the rims of my specs already clutter the view.

Having worn the helmet on three long days of green laning I am very pleased with the fit, the comfort and the look. Equally on roads, it handles the wind really well, the peak doesn’t pull your head backward when you look up. It is fairly quiet although not the quietest one I’ve ever tried. There is minimum lining covering the comms speakers which I like because I can hear the sound much better than in some other helmets.

I had the opportunity to take the helmet on a trip to Spain for three days and as I was hiring a street bike, I left the peak at home. The performance of the helmet was impressive in 25-degree Celsius weather where the many vents really made a big difference to my comfort. You can feel the air coming into the helmet from the vents on top and that helps keep your head cool. I found it quite easy to take the helmet off and back on at stops.

The best bit is that, as mentioned before, the helmet comes with a carry bag which made for the perfect carry-on bag on the flight. The helmet itself is light and the bag is big enough to allow me to fit inside my cameras to record the rides, a book, glasses and a few other bits and pieces for the flight.

Overall I find the LS2 helmet delivered more than I expected from a brand I wasn’t very familiar with. It offers great value for money with all the safety features and certification and the real bonus is the superior build and finish quality of the helmet. At £320 mark this helmet definitely feels more premium than its price tag.

New LS2 All Terrain Adventure Glove

Flexible, breathable and designed for comfort on highways and byways, LS2’s versatile All Terrain Gloves are a must for adventure-seekers.

All Terrain use goat skin in their construction because it is tough enough to resist abrasion from tarmac, yet soft and supple enough to allow plenty of feedback from the controls when riding on tracks. It’s double layered on the palm and other key areas, for maximum durability.

For added protection there are Level 1-certified TPU protectors over the knuckles, and padded sections at the base of the hand and over the vulnerable scaphoid area. As you’d expect, the gloves are fully certified to the latest CE safety standard.

The rest of the All Terrain’s shell is a lightweight, flexible textile containing neoprene and lycra for flexibility and breathability – a must for demanding days off-road. The goat skin sections are also perforated to help heat and perspiration escape.

Stretch panels at the finger joints and lycra sections between each finger help with precise operation of the controls – crucial when tackling loose surfaces and a silicone print on the palm improves grip on the bars.

The short cuff design sits easily under riding jackets, and has hook and loop closure for a snug and secure fit. There’s no need to remove the gloves to operate devices either, as both index fingers are touchscreen compatible too.

LS2 All Terrain Gloves come in both men’s (sizes S-2XL) and ladies’ (XS-L) versions, in four colourways: Black, Black/Blue, Grey/Red and Black/Hi-Vis Yellow. All retail at only £49.99 including VAT.

Up front, the extra wide aperture gives plenty of peripheral vision, and the visor is Pinlock-ready, with an anti-fog shield included as standard. A drop-down sun visor also features, operated with a hidden slider.

LS2 Helmets for high-flying champions

LS2 Helmets are now officially supporting 2019 FMX champion, youngest ever FIM Freestyle Motocross World Champion, nine-time world record holder and Red Bull Athlete, Luc Ackermann.

The 22-year-old extreme sports athlete from Thuringia in Germany has worn LS2 helmets for many of his daring tricks and records, and from now will be officially backed by the brand.

Announcing the new partnership, LS2 Germany Sales Manager Rainer Hullmann said: “Luc has, after all, been relying on our helmets for several years now. That we are now also official partners, we are immensely pleased! Luc is a super guy and one of the best in his discipline. He’s a perfect fit for our brand!”

At the age of just 12 Ackermann set his first record, with the ‘youngest motorcycle backflip of all time’.

In March 2013, he was one of 18 FMX riders who simultaneously jumped a backflip at the Nitro Circus movie premiere in London and entered the Guinness Book of Records.

Another world record – ‘youngest motorcycle double backflip’ – came in 2017. This was followed in 2018 by the first double backflip in the FIM FMX World Championship Contest and saw Ackermann becoming the youngest FIM European Champion in the history of ‘Night of the Jumps’.

In 2019, he jumped the first dirt-to-dirt contest double backflip and became the youngest FIM Freestyle Motocross World Champion ever.

In 2020, Luc broke a 12-year-old world record set by FMX legend Travis Pastrana with 10 backflips in 30 seconds.

Ackermann currently wears the LS2 MX700 Subverter Evo. One of LS2’s most popular motocross helmets it’s perfect for the extreme riding Luc undertakes, because it is incredibly lightweight, thanks to the exclusive Kinetic Polymer Alloy shell. It also features multiple ventis and channeling around the head to allow plenty of airflow and comes with Emergency Release System cheek pads, enabling first responders to remove the Subverter Evo with minimal movement of a fallen rider’s head and neck.

The MX700 Subverter Evo comes in sizes XS-3XL and retails at just £119.99 in solid colours, and £139.99 for the graphic options.

For 2021 it is available in seven new colour options: ‘Solid White’ and ‘Solid Matt Black’ for those who prefer a subtle scheme; the eye-catching Black/Fluo/Orange ‘Rascal’ and Cobalt/Hi-Vis Yellow or White/Orange ‘Astro’ for those who want to stand out; while the ‘Cargo’ in Matt Military Green or Matt Blue/Fluo Orange both offer a more contemporary look.

Fully ECE 22.05 certified, it’s legal to wear on the road in the UK and carries the ACU Gold sticker for off-road sport.

Fresh look for LS2 flip-front helmet

Form meets function with LS2’s FF902 Scope flip-front helmet, which comes in two fresh contemporary colour options for 2021.

Both the ‘Arch’ graphics – White/Titanium and Matt/Titanium/Pink – complement the modern shape of the Scope helmet, perfect for riders who want stand-out style, with the comfort and practicality a flip-front provides.

Offering premium specification at an accessible price, the Scope is made using High Pressure Thermoplastic Technology, which meets the latest safety standards and keeps weight low – just 1650 grams.

It comes in three outer shell sizes, for the smallest possible outline in each size range, and a chin curtain also features, to help keep the weather out, and reduce annoying and distracting wind noise.

The quick-release visor has a wide aperture, offering maximum peripheral vision – a must have for tackling traffic. A Pinlock anti-fog shield is included as standard, and there’s a handy drop-down sun visor.

Dynamic Flow-through Ventilation – with intake ports at the chin and crown, internal channels and exhaust ports to the rear – helps keep the rider cool and comfortable. The hypoallergenic lining is removable and washable for season-long freshness.

An oval shell shape and laser-cut EPS and foam cheek give a reassuringly snug and comfortable fit. A quick-release, micrometric buckle fastening holds the Scope firmly in place and makes getting in and out at stops a doddle.

The LS2 Scope retails for £129.99 in new Arch graphics; solid colours sell for £119.99.

New look for LS2 Valiant flip-front

The UK’s favourite 180-degree flip-front helmet – LS2’s Valiant II – is set to find even more fans, with three fresh colour schemes for 2021.

The eye-catching white/silver ‘Hub’; the subtle and stylish ‘Citius’ white/blue option; and the space-inspired matt black/blue ‘Stelar’ all complement the Valiant II’s futuristic shape and offer three distinctive looks for any rider.

The latest version of the popular Valiant II is the smallest, lightest – it weighs only 1700g – and easiest to use in its class.

It features a 180º swing-around chin bar and is doubly certified as both a full-face and open-face helmet – so it’s legal to ride in open-face mode.

The self-up visor mechanism automatically opens the visor when the chin bar is lifted and it also has a quick-release mechanism, for easier removal and refitting. A Pinlock anti-fog shield is included as standard.

The Kinetic Polymer Alloy outer shell features redesigned aerodynamics, with two intake and three exhaust ports, for enhanced ventilation.

The Valiant II is also LRP 3 Bluetooth ready, for wireless connectivity on the move.

The LS2 Valiant II comes in sizes XS-XXL in solid and graphic colour options. Graphics retail at just £269.99, while prices for the solid colour options start at £249.99.

Each one comes with a helmet bag that converts into a rucksack, so it’s easy to carry the Valiant II when you reach your destination.

It’s fully certified to the ECE 22.05 standard – so is legal to wear on the road in the UK – and comes in three outer shell sizes for the smallest, lightest possible helmet in each fitment range.
