The new Langen LightSpeed steals the show at Motorcycle Live

Langen Technology Limited (Langen), one of the leading automotive engineering and development companies, specialising in hand built, limited production motorcycles, unveiled its new LightSpeed at Motorcycle Live at the NEC Birmingham this week.

The stunning new hypersport bike from Langen, Britain’s most exciting motorcycle manufacturer, was a big hit with visitors to this year’s show. In a specially created presentation experience inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama the assembled media and visitors were treated to an up close and personal view of the LightSpeed. A number of customer curated 2Strokes were also on display along with a chance to speak with Langen founder Christofer Ratcliffe and his team about the finer details of the machines and how the LightSpeed came into being.

The unique, class leading machine boasting a power to weight ratio of 1,000 bhp per tonne not only attracted the crowds but also had some reaching for their wallets to secure a build slot and VIN number, as only 185 of the Launch specification motorcycle will be available – each build individually commissioned for its owner. Whilst targeted for registration on UK roads, the LightSpeed is appealing to a global audience of enthusiasts and collectors of special automotive machines, with reservations being made from around the world.

Christofer Ratcliffe Founder and CEO of Langen comments: “I am overwhelmed with the response to the LightSpeed, in a show full of ‘off the peg’ bikes, to be able to offer something truly unique to our discerning customers with a range of personal options to make each LightSpeed as individual as the customer, it has made all the hard work over the last 12 months’ worth while. I can’t wait to see this pre-production prototype develop further as we move towards delivering the first builds to customers at the start of 2025”.

The New Langen LightSpeed Breaks Cover at Motorcycle Live

Langen Technology Limited (Langen), one of the leading automotive engineering and development companies, specialising in hand built, limited production motorcycles, will be proudly presenting their new Langen LightSpeed 1200 (LS-12) at Motorcycle Live 2023 at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham between the 18th and 26th of November 2023.

Following the huge success of their first production motorcycle – The Two Stroke, Langen’s latest offering continues to demonstrate the company’s ability to build achingly beautiful, high- performance motorcycles using the very best components, fuelled by the team’s passion to combine innovation with emotion.

The LightSpeed is a truly awesome motorcycle with a power to weight ratio of 1,000hp per tonne, built into a head turning street bike – the likes of which have never been seen before.

The machine incorporates carbon fibre bodywork wrapped round a high tensile steel tubular space frame, Ohlins front forks and rear shock absorbers and Hel performance callipers grabbing 320mm twin floating front discs.

The beating heart of the LightSpeed is a liquid-cooled, transverse 72-degree V-Twin, Rotax engine bred on the racetrack. Manufactured by Buell Motorcycles and developed by Langen to deliver 185hp @ 10,600 RPM at the crank.

The UK launch edition will be limited to just 185 units homologated for the UK and as with the Two Stroke, will offer customers a range of bespoke options including paintwork, a choice of handlebars, wheels, and other unique finishing touches. Build slots can be reserved from today with delivery expected in early 2025.

Worldwide type approved models will be available in limited numbers from 2026.

Langen HQ have reported that some existing Two Stroke customers have already placed deposits ‘off plan’ for the Lightspeed without even seeing the bike.

Christofer Ratcliffe Founder and CEO of Langen comments: At Langen we believe that “cars move the body, yet motorcycles move the soul” – it demonstrates the intangible and unmatched human experience of riding and owning a Langen. When you throw a leg over the LightSpeed you soon realise that it’s not just another motorcycle but a heart-pounding, soul-stirring symphony of power and style.

Kawasaki UK announces Motorcycle Live Ninja 400 winner

Last year, Kawasaki once again partnered with the annual Motorcycle Live show to give one lucky visitor a chance to win a brand-new Ninja 400.

With the competition closing in February, Kawasaki is pleased to announce Jason Evans as the winner, collecting his new bike from Drayton Croft over the weekend.

The multiple-choice question saw thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts enter for their chance to win the championship-winning Ninja 400, including first registration fee, 12 months road tax, a number plate and insurance worth up to £250, courtesy of Kawasaki Insurance.

The winner was then picked at random from the correct entries, with Jason Evans being the lucky recipient! Having ridden for 32 years, this will be Jason’s first Kawasaki and he is excited to be joining the Ninja fold this summer. “I still can’t quite believe I was so lucky! I’ve been riding since I was 17 and this is going to be my first time owning a Kawasaki myself – although my wife has a Z650 and my dream bike growing up was a Ninja, so I’ve always been a fan.

I remember entering the competition after visiting the show last year, but I’ll be honest, I really didn’t think I would get lucky. So much so, that I still wasn’t completely convinced when Craig Watson, the Sales & Marketing Manager from Kawasaki first told me I was the lucky winner! It’s incredible to win such a stunning bike and it’s a fantastic addition to my garage.

I’m going to be using it throughout the summer for sure. I’ve got a fair bit of riding planned, including a trip to the Isle of Man TT, MotoGP at Silverstone and hopefully some British and World Superbike races too.”

Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing & Racing Department at Kawasaki UK:
“We had an amazing response to our Motorcycle Live competition, and it was fantastic to offer one lucky winner the chance to get their hands on a new Ninja 400. It’s great that Jason has already started making plans on how he will use the bike, and we look forward to hopefully seeing him at an event later in the year!”

BSA Motorcycles unveil the new generation model

BSA Motorcycles is delighted to officially reveal their first new model on Saturday 4 December at Motorcycle Live, NEC Birmingham.

The new BSA Gold Star is classified as a modern classic motorcycle, and its form is instantly recognisable as a BSA. A design icon of its era redefined to reclaim its glory in the current times, the new BSA Gold Star’s design is a befitting evolution of the brand’s most successful motorcycle.

Announcing the reveal of the new motorcycle, Mr Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, commented:
“BSA reigned supreme during the golden era of British motorcycles, renowned for their spirit and impeccable workmanship. We’re incredibly honoured to be showcasing a new model that captures the DNA of such a legendary brand, which stamped an undeniable mark on the world of motorcycling. The next chapter in the brand’s history is going to be an exciting ride.”

Set to rekindle memories of the past, the new Gold Star is pure and retains the essence of its predecessor, such as the round headlamp sitting neatly below the signature twin pod instruments – keeping the same proportions intact. Another notable feature is the chromed fuel tank with pinstriping and a dominating BSA Gold Star logo, which was inspired by the coveted ‘Gold Star’ pin won by Wal Handley in 1937, when he lapped the Brooklands circuit at over 100mph on a BSA Empire Star. Add to that the engine cover that harks back to the BSAs of the past, the distinctive kink in the exhaust pipe and silencer design, rear fender with the trademark stays, and it’s clear that everything remains true to the iconic Gold Star design.

Mr Ashish Singh Joshi, Director of BSA Company Ltd., added:
“For us, the new BSA Gold Star is not just a motorcycle but an emotion and we pursued the journey of bringing BSA back with utmost passion. To stay authentic to its roots, the new Gold Star was designed and engineered in the UK. The new motorcycle incorporates BSA’s DNA and stays a Gold Star that is true to its lineage.”

BSA Motorcycles are attending Motorcycle Live, held 4-12 December 2021 at NEC Birmingham. They are exhibiting in Hall 4, Stand 4D10.

British Legend BSA Motorcycles returns

Brand-new model set to launch at the beginning of December.

BSA Company Ltd. has announced the return of the iconic British motorcycle brand BSA Motorcycles, with a brand-new model set to launch at the beginning of December.

The all-new modern classic motorcycle will be unveiled to the public at the Motorcycle Live show on 4 December 2021. Further details about the new model will be revealed at the show, which means BSA afficionados will have to wait just a little longer to lay their hands on the much-anticipated motorcycle.

Standing for Birmingham Small Arms Company Ltd, BSA was founded in 1861, for the production of firearms. The brand’s motorcycle division was set up in 1903, and the first motorcycle was introduced in 1910. The brand went on to become the largest supplier of motorcycles to the Allied Forces during the Second World War. By the 1950s, BSA was the world’s largest motorcycle maker, with one in every four motorcycles sold worldwide sporting the BSA badge. The company also enjoyed phenomenal success on the race track, with notable victories at Daytona and Santa Catalina.

Over the course of the century, BSA carved out a hallowed name among motorcycle enthusiasts, with legendary nameplates such as the Golden Flash, Bantam, Lightning, Firebird and Gold Star becoming cult favourites.

While operations ceased in the 1970s, BSA Company Ltd. was given a new lease of life in October 2016, when the BSA Motorcycles brand and the rights to the motorcycle business were acquired by the Mahindra Group, a renowned automobile manufacturer.

The new petrol-engine motorcycle is now ready to hit the roads, and will be officially launched at the Motorcycle Live show, held between 4-12 December at NEC Birmingham, Hall 4, Stand 4D10.

Earlier this year, BSA Company Ltd. was also awarded a £4.6 million grant by the UK Government for the development of zero-emission motorcycles, as part of the low-carbon automotive initiative.

About BSA Company Ltd.
BSA Company Ltd, trading as BSA Motorcycles, is a motorcycle manufacturer acquired in October 2016 by Classic Legends Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group. Their vision is to build motorcycles that retain the DNA of the original Birmingham-based BSA brand.

Stuart Higgs, Bennetts British Superbike Championship Series Director, adds: “Motorcycle Live has traditionally been the final event of the year for the motorcycle industry, so we are delighted that there will once again be a day dedicated to all things Bennetts BSB. The 25th anniversary season didn’t disappoint with an incredible rollercoaster that went down to the closest finale since 2010, which poignantly ended with Tarran Mackenzie celebrating the title, we look forward to reliving that and look ahead to an exciting 2022 season during BSB Day.”
