SW-Motech kit out Africa Twin

SW Motech have introduced some of the first model-specific accessories for Honda’s much-anticipated CRF1000L, so owners can start to tailor their big Twin to their needs.

CARRYING CAPACITY
A spacious and versatile luggage system is a priority for any traveller, and now Africa Twin owners can have all their kit close to hand with the Quick Lock EVO Tankbag system and Bags Connection Tail Packs.

With a comprehensive range of bags, and the unique click-on-ride-off tank ring system, Quick Lock EVO Tankbags give quick and easy access to travel documents, maps, mobile phones and other essentials. They come in a variety of styles and capacities, so the rider can choose what’s right for the journey:

Expandable from 2.5-5L and with a cable port and rain cover, the Micro Tank Bag (£56.32) is the perfect solution for short hops.

The Daypack (£80.08) holds between 5-9L of kit, perfect for the longer rides and when larger items like a rain suit need to be close to hand. It also has rain covers, cable ports and carry handles for use off the bike.

For the real explorers, the GS Tank Bag (£136.39) carries up to 22L when fully expanded. It has three outside pockets and inner compartments to keep everything organised, as well as a rain cover, shoulder straps, cable ports and much more

EVO tank rings have a slim design, so all bags sit closer to the tank, and an improved four-point mounting, so they’re held securely and can be clipped on and off in seconds. Purchased separately from the bags, the EVO ring adaptor for the Africa Twin costs £24.64.

For those needing additional carrying capacity, there’s also a complete range of Tail Packs suitable for the Honda; capacities range from 13-90 litres and all are made from tough 1680 Ballistic Nylon, with secure and stable four-point attachment. Compression straps, expanding sections and waterproof inner bags and zips also feature.

COMFORT
Riders can also benefit from Handlebar Risers, providing a more upright and relaxed riding position. The kit raises the Honda’s bars by 30mm, helping to take the strain out of the wrists, forearms and neck on longer runs. No modifications to the Africa Twin’s cables, wiring or top yoke are necessary and the kit is compatible with the original bars. Prices start from £40.70.

GPS and Mobile Phone mounts, and Mirror Extenders are also now available for the Africa Twin. More accessories will be announced soon.

SPIDI – Tank

Tank motorcycle jacket is a mix of tradition and innovation that expertly combines style with functionality; the name comes from the jackets used inside of the allied tanks, from which it takes the concept and the short cut.

To fit perfectly with the motorcycle use, were then introduced all the concepts of SPIDI Motorsport Lifestyle, blending ergonomics, protectiveness and style. For this reason, prime quality full Italian cowhide has been carefully selected by SPIDI’s artisans, whom have then applied a peculiar wax treatment so to make this product really unique.

“This is our place. Here we can be free. We are the one in power. This is it, this is what we ride for.”
Wearing the Tank jacket is indeed not just a simple pleasure, but a real discovery of an ancient world, made of sensations, touch and scents; those same sensations of a masterfully tailored cloth, the same touch of a fine felt liner and the same scents of a naturally tanned cowhide.

Nonetheless, Tank jacket is equipped with top-notch EN1621-1 certified Forcetech and Multitech protectors on shoulders and elbows and comes ready to be equipped with SPIDI’s EN1621-2 Lev.1 and Lev.2 Warrior back protectors.

Each Zero 2 glove is made from goat leather, with kangaroo leather on the palm, Pittards digital goat on the palm overlay and knuckles and an OutDry® waterproof membrane bonded directly to the inside. OutDry® prevents the build-up of water between the outer and inner layers, often experienced with traditional waterproof inserts, and seals stitching and joins too.

And that’s not all! To qualify for a licence to use OutDry®, every single glove must be waterproof-tested before leaving the factory, so that any faults are found at source. Representatives from OutDry® recently visited the factory and conducted random testing on the Zero 2 production line. Their inspection showed a minute 0.008% failure rate – proving the ultra-high production quality.

As an added barrier against rain, TPR blades are injected onto the 600D Cordura on the top of the hand to help divert water off the glove. Combined with the Zero 2’s 115g Primaloft Gold insulation and a Bemberg polyester micro-fleece liner, it helps keep the wearer warm and comfortable. There’s also a TPR visor wipe on the left thumb, for clearer vision, and silicon prints on the end of the first two fingers, giving increased grip on wet levers.

Should the worst happen, patented Knox Dual Compound SPS Scaphoid Protection System, provides abrasion resistance and shields the vulnerable bone in the wrist.

Box construction and accordion stretch panels on the fingers and thumb offer increased flexibility and dexterity, while the low profile cuff section, with waterproof zip, helps Zero 2 fit quickly and easily under jacket cuffs.

Zero 2 OutDry® gloves are available in black, sizes S-XXL, at a recommended retail price of £129.99 including VAT. Call 01900 825825 or visit www.planet-knox.com

One lucky person will even be able to try out the 570S personally by entering an incredible raffle at the company’s stand throughout the four-day show.

The Midlands-based firm is the first hire company in the country to have a McLaren 570S on its fleet and the car is sure to turn heads and give the winner a day to remember. The mid-engined 562bhp 570S is the latest model from McLaren, and is capable of sprinting from 0-60mph in just 3.1sec while 0-100mph is dispatched in 6.3sec.

BMW M4 GTS

The Performance Car Show presented by Landsail Tyres in association with Autocar and PistonHeads.com will host the public debut of the Zenos E10 R, a road-legal British trackday car delivering 500bhp/tonne. Avatar
Autosport International 2016 hosts the worldwide launch of new British mid-engined sports car, the Avatar. At 700kg the Avatar is lighter than a Lotus Elise, and the base model boasts 250hp from its 2.0-litre Ford Ecoboost engine, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 333bhp per tonne.

There’s also an uprated 350bhp option powered by the impressive 2.3-litre version of the Ecoboost engine that will feature in the new Focus RS.   Beneath the Avatar’s composite body, the engine is longitudinally mounted for excellent balance and the absence of driver aids gives a pure, authentic and
adrenaline-fuelled driving experience. Head to Stand 19215 in The Performance Car Show to see the new Avatar in the metal.

BAC Mono
BAC’s 2016 Model Year Mono, featuring an all-new 2.5-litre Mountune four-cylinder engine producing 305bhp – that’s up 25bhp on the previous 2.3-litre Cosworth engine. Metro 6R4
The Metro 6R4 is headlining a star cast of more than 60 rare and collectable road and racing cars going under the hammer with Coys live at Autosport International. This particular model is one of the lowest mileage examples of its kind, having covered just 3,100 miles since it was built in 1985. Its pristine condition is down to the fact that, unusually, it has never been raced or rallied, as it was the original Rothmans show car.

Instead, it was mainly used as a display car at shows, although it was used for the occasional demonstration. As a result, it is a perfect, almost box fresh example of the iconic 6R4.

Radical RSX Spyder
Powered by a 3.5-litre Ford V6 EcoBoost Turbo engine and fitted with carbon bodywork. It is expected to be a big attraction when it is officially revealed on the morning of Thursday 14 January. Further details are due to be announced on the opening day, so ensure you are there to see it live.

Alongside the new Radical will be a very special version of the company’s SR3 sports racer – chassis number 1000.
