KTM’s smartphone connectivity platform, KTM MY RIDE, is now available on a wide range of Street models increasing Phone, Music and Navigation functionality with turn-by-turn directions, keeping you headed in the right direction.

KTM MY RIDE with Music and Phone comes equipped for activation on the KTM 125 DUKE, KTM 390 DUKE, KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R, KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S and KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R models and requires an optional hardware upgrade for the KTM 790 DUKE.

KTM MY RIDE Music

With a paired Bluetooth helmet headset, KTM MY RIDE lets you take control of a smartphone’s music player while riding. Using the left handlebar-mounted menu switch, the rider can toggle between tracks and control the volume, while the track’s information is displayed on the bike’s TFT screen.

KTM MY RIDE Phone

Stay connected. Pair your smartphone to the bike with KTM MY RIDE and never miss a call. The TFT display details the identification of incoming calls and allows you to accept or decline using the menu switch. For safety reason, accessing the phone’s address book and making outgoing calls is not possible.

KTM MY RIDE Navigation

New for 2018, turn-by-turn navigation has been introduced as standard for the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S & R. Accompanied with the new KTM MY RIDE app (available for Android and iOS, UK PRICE £7.99), visual guidance is transmitted via Bluetooth to the TFT display to show the pre-planned route.

To save on mobile data, maps can be downloaded and used offline. For KTM ADVENTURE riders who like to stray from the beaten path, up to 128 waypoints can be added to a route when planning, to help you stay on track and achieve your desired ride.

In addition, audio guidance in English, German, Spanish, Italian or French can be enabled when paired with a Bluetooth helmet headset.

KTM MY RIDE Navigation uses a separate screen next to the speedometer display and details.

R&G Captures 70S Spirit With New Z900RS Range

Freddie Spencer To Head ‘Year Of The Legends’ Celebration At Castle Combe

Three-times World Champion, Freddie Spencer, is set to headline at the West Country’s biggest motorcycle race meeting, the Castle Combe Grand National, which takes place at the Wiltshire track on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2018.

Regaled as one of the greatest ever Grand Prix riders, ‘Fast Freddie’ returns to Castle Combe by popular demand having visited for a first time earlier this year, and the American will lead the ‘Year of the Legends’ celebrations which will also include former 500cc Grand Prix racer and British Champion Steve Parrish amongst a host of other stars set to be added.

In addition, there is a packed programme of racing organised by NG Road Racing Club, and featuring a number of major championships over the weekend. With some of the best club race action in the country which always leads to packed grids, Race Director Steve Bostock and his team will once again deliver an end of summer feast which last year included 20 fast and furious races over the weekend.

In addition, and having not featured over the past couple of seasons, 2018 sees a welcome return of the ACU/FSRA British F2 Sidecar Championship to Castle Combe meaning the cream of British crews will be in action. Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley took this year’s crown in the Super F2 class whilst combining their duties at British Championship level whilst up against the likes of TT winner Conrad Harrison and British F1 front-runner Sean Hegarty.

The established mix of modern and classic racing combined with the ever-popular rider parades and off-track attractions means it’s a weekend in Wiltshire not to be missed already!

Quick-Change Communication With Sena Multicom

Quick and easy to transfer between helmets, Sena’s new SMH5 MultiCom communication system is ideal for training schools, tour operators or riders who own more than one helmet.

Communicating at a noisy riding school or guided motorcycle tour can be a challenge, so the SMH5 MultiCom provides four-way intercom functionality, helping to keep a leader or tutor connected to the group. Should things need to be simplified, the static boom microphone can be quickly removed, so riders/pupils can only hear instructions from their coach or tour group leader.

The SMH5 MultiCom comes with Sena’s simplest attachment system yet, the Quick Clamp, which allows the unit to slide onto or off a helmet shell in seconds.

Suzuki announces new partnership with Motul

Suzuki GB has announced a new partnership with Motul, which sees the French oil brand become the officially recommended lubricant supplier for the Japanese manufacturer.

The two firms already enjoy a close working relationship in the racing world, and recently celebrated success together at this year’s Isle of Man TT, while Motul also supports Suzuki’s MotoGP effort. Motul has also helped power the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team to multiple world titles, and celebrated the 2005 World Superbike Championship title with Alstare Suzuki and Troy Corser.

From 2018, Suzuki will use and recommend Motul in its range of production machines. Motul will also become the recommended supplier across Suzuki’s four-wheel, ATV, and marine divisions.

Michael Le-Flay, Suzuki GB’s aftersales marketing manager, said of the partnership, “We chose Motul as our preferred oil supply partner as we recognised that both companies share a common commercial architecture, along with a passion and enthusiasm that sees each company excel in their respective fields. Scottoiler extend BMW partnership for F750GS and F850GS models

Following the success of their collaboration on the existing F700GS and F800GS models, the BMW Motorrad automatic chain lubrication system will be available in early 2018 as an optional accessory for the new BMW F750GS and F850GS models.

Glasgow-based chain lubrication systems experts, Scottoiler, have announced an extension of their successful partnership with BMW Motorrad with the launch of a new co-branded chain oiler.

Following the success of their collaboration on the existing F700GS and F800GS models, the BMW Motorrad automatic chain lubrication system will be available in early 2018 as an optional accessory for the new BMW F750GS and F850GS models.

Project Manager Matthias Ennen said: “We have been working with BMW over the last few years to integrate the Scottoiler systems into their new chain driven models and we are very excited to finally see the finished product hit the market.

“The Scottoiler chain lubrication system will blend seamlessly with the F750GS and F850GS and automatically take over users’ chain maintenance regime.”

Scottoiler systems are designed to remove the messy and time consuming task of manually lubricating the motorbike chain whilst offering increased chain and sprockets life in addition to improved final drive efficiency.

The system, which comprises an oil reservoir, vacuum controlled valve and dispenser assembly to gravity feed lubricant onto the rear sprocket, maintains the final drive transmission automatically during riding.

Fiona Scott Thomson, Managing Director of Scottoiler, stated: “Scottoiler is widely recognised as the leading expert on chain maintenance and this relationship with BMW Motorrad highlights our expertise, the quality of our products and the importance of proper chain maintenance with an on board system.”

Installation of the chain-lubrication system will be performed by BMW Motorrad technicians ensuring that the product installation is of the highest possible standard. The new chain oiler product will be available exclusively through the BMW Motorrad worldwide dealer network.

In addition, customers will have a choice of two oils, Scottoil Standard which is designed for average daily temperatures of 0-30°C (32-86°F), and Scottoil Super which is designed for average daily temperatures of 20-40°C (68-104°F). Unlike traditional chain care products Scottoil is designed to be used specifically with Scottoiler automatic chain lubrication systems.

Z900RS CAFE displays True Spirit at EICMA show debut

Eagerly anticipated following sight of the Z1 inspired Z900RS at the Tokyo Motor Show, Kawasaki targeted the EICMA show to debut another model in the line dubbed the Z900RS CAFE.
Taking the modern classic style of the highly received Z900RS in a new and imaginative direction, the Z900RS CAFE can also trace is roots back to the Super Four model Z1 of 1972 but adds a twist to proceedings with a bold approach to colour and graphics plus a more focussed riding position thanks to its drop-style black finish handlebar.

A step away from standard, the low handlebar creates a sporty body position matched well by a bikini cowling and stylish seat complete with racer inspired rear hump. Making sound sense, the exhaust system is Kawasaki’s first tuned specifically for tone and fits the overall attention to detail of the Z900RS CAFE perfectly with its subtle brushed satin finish.

Multi-spoke cast wheels give the appearance of traditional wire spoked items while the meticulous attention to detail manifests itself with clever engine details and a clean overall appearance uncluttered by poorly routed hoses and cables.

As with the legendary Z1, the heart of the machine lays with its formidable engine. In the case of the Z900RS CAFE this is a unit equipped with KTRC traction control and an assist and slipper clutch. Contained in a lightweight tubular trellis frame and matched to 41mm inverted front forks and horizontal back link suspension, handling and performance are totally up to date.

Lighting the way a distinctive LED headlamp is mated to a Z1 style elliptical LED rear unit while the traditional speedometer and rev counter assembly is complemented by a central LCD information panel covering the vital functions of this confident arrival on the modern classic scene.

Of course for some riders the Z900RS CAFE will be merely the starting point for further personalisation and a wide range of Kawasaki genuine accessories will be available to personalise the vintage lime green machine.

2018 model year Kawasaki Ninja ZX‑10RR revealed

From its race preparation-ready cylinder head and performance focused single seat to its lightweight specially forged Marchesini wheels plus KQS quickshifter, the Ninja ZX-10RR was quickly adopted by race teams and committed track day enthusiasts from across the globe after its 2017 launch.

The 2018 model Ninja ZX-10RR features two updates for the coming season, both of which involve colour changes to components: the reservoir canisters behind the lower part of the front fork legs change from a red appearance to silver and at the top of the fork leg, the fork top cap is now green where it was previously also red.

Suzuki to unveil SV650X at Tokyo Motor Show next month

Suzuki Motor Corporation will unveil the SV650X at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show – which takes place from 27 October to 5 November – an evolution of the SV650 Rally concept shown at last year’s event.

The original concept was designed to pay homage to the tarmac rally cars and bikes of the 1970s. ‘Neo-retro’ design sees the SV650X get a newly-styled bikini fairing and tinted screen, fog lamps, clip-on handlebars, with a tuck-roll – already available as a genuine accessory on the SV650 – completing the look.

The Japanese firm is currently assessing market reaction and customer feedback before confirming production plans.
Suzuki GB general manager, Paul de Lusignan, commented, “The SV650 Rally concept generated a lot of interest at last year’s show, with retro-styled machines proving very popular among riders. The SV650X is an evolution of that concept, and shows how that would translate to a production machine. Currently we cannot confirm a production schedule. We will first assess reactions to the SV650X before finalising plans.”

Suzuki will confirm it’s 2018 model plans before the end of the year.
