Tackle all terrains with LS2 gloves

New from LS2, All Terrain Gloves are lightweight, breathable and comfortable for long days on tarmac and trails, with the reassurance of CE-approval.

All Terrain gloves feature goat skin in their construction, because it’s tough and durable, as well as soft and supple, for maximum feedback and feel from the controls. It’s also double layered at the palm and other key areas.

Level 1-certified TPU protectors feature over the knuckles, and there are padded sections at the base of the hand and over the vulnerable scaphoid area too.

Comfort is key for long days in the saddle, so the All Terrain boast lightweight, flexible textile, neoprene and Lycra in their outer shell; offering dexterity and high breathability. The goat skin sections are also perforated to help heat and perspiration escape.

Stretch panels at the finger joints – and comfort Lycra sections between each finger – maximise movement and feel, as well as aiding precise operation of the throttle, clutch and front brake: crucial when tackling loose surfaces.

A silicone print on the palm increases grip on the bars – also handy when the going gets rough.

The short cuff design sits easily under riding jackets, and has micro adjustable hook and loop closure for a snug and secure fit.

Index fingers are touchscreen compatible, so there’s no need to remove the gloves to operate devices.

LS2 All Terrain Gloves come in both men’s (S-2XL) and ladies’ (XS-L) versions, in four colourways: Black, Black/Blue, Grey/Red and Black/Hi-Vis Yellow.

Both mens and ladies versions have an RRP of just £40.99 per pair, including VAT.

A special motorcycle as a tribute to Troy Bayliss

A special motorcycle as a tribute to Troy Bayliss: the Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary.

21 has been a magic number for Ducati ever since Troy Bayliss sculpted it with his victories in motorcycling history. Precisely in 2021, twenty years after winning the 2001 Superbike World Championship, Ducati is paying homage to the legendary career of the Australian rider by dedicating to him a special motorcycle, produced in a numbered series, which celebrates the first of the three World SBK titles won by Bayliss: the Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary.

The bond between Bayliss and Ducati Corse in the Superbike World Championship is one of the most fascinating stories in the motorsport universe. The results of this beautiful adventure are 52 victories, 94 podiums and three world titles (2001, 2006 and 2008) won with three different bikes: the twin-cylinder 996 R, the 999 R and the 1098 R. Troy Bayliss is the only motorcycle racer in history capable of winning in MotoGP and World Superbike in the same season (2006) and his achievements in the race have indelibly imprinted the Australian’s name in the hearts of all Ducatisti. Now the winning chemistry between Ducati and “Baylisstic” is rekindled with the creation of this celebratory motorcycle, the name of which was chosen directly by the rider, who also actively contributed to the creation of the graphic concept.

Made starting from the base of the Panigale V2, the “Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary” version is characterized by its special livery , whose graphics are inspired by that of the 996 R which in the 2001 season powered Bayliss to the conquest of his first world title, revisiting its colours and cuts. Ducati red is the main colour of the bike, and it joins green and white in a tribute to the Italian spirit of the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer, while the iconic #21, Troy Bayliss’ race number, and the Shell logo, which visually strengthen the link with the racing bike, stand out on the sides and front. Troy’s autograph is reproduced on the fuel tank, while the billet aluminium triple clamp shows the name of the bike and the progressive numbering of this unique model.

To make the motorcycle even more effective in track riding, Ducati has chosen to equip the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary with Öhlins components . The NX30 front fork and TTX36 rear shock absorber guarantee maximum smoothness and are designed to achieve the best performance on the circuit, with a set-up that makes the bike more precise and offers the rider greater feeling and greater support in all riding phases. The steering damper, thanks to the adjustments it is equipped with, allows you to customize its calibration by adapting it to riding style and the characteristics of the track.

Compared to the standard version, the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary is also 3 kg lighter, thanks to the adoption of a lithium-ion battery and the choice of the single-seater configuration that explicitly recalls the look of the racing bike (passenger seat and footrests are available in the equipment supplied).

The equipment is completed by the sport grips, the silencer outlet cover in carbon fibre and titanium and the rider seat made by combining two different technical materials with double red stitching. Troy’s number 21 is embroidered in white on the saddle and, together with the green and red bands, makes up the Italian flag. The motorcycle is also equipped with self-cleaning brake and clutch pumps with smoke grey oil tanks.

The Panigale V2 is the super-mid of Ducati sports bikes and represents the entry model to the Panigale family. It is powered by the 955 cc Superquadro twin-cylinder unit (Euro 5 compliant), with a maximum power of 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The chassis is based on the monocoque frame, while the elegant and sporty design is inspired by that of the Panigale V4.

The electronic package, dedicated to active safety and vehicle dynamics control, includes the “cornering” function applied to Bosch ABS, the electronic quick shift that also works when downshifting and traction, engine brake and wheelie controls (Ducati Quick Shift, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control). All the controls are integrated into the three Riding Modes (Race, Sport and Street) that can be modified using the 4.3″ colour TFT dashboard with graphics and interface designed to make menu navigation and settings adjustment intuitive, as well as immediate identification of the selected Riding Mode.

The bike was officially presented by Ducati in a special episode of the Ducati World Première (here the link to see it ) made at the Ducati Museum, on the track and at Troy’s home in Australia. Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, Ducati Corse Team Manager Davide Tardozzi, who was alongside Bayliss throughout his career in Ducati, Director of the Centro Stile Ducati Andrea Ferraresi and Ducati Head of Product Communications Giulio Fabbri all contributed to the presentation of the characteristics of the bike and the storytelling of the incredible relationship between Ducati and Bayliss. Troy himself took part in this video, sharing with Ducatisti his most indelible memories and emotions experienced on the bike.

The World Superbike universe will also pay tribute to Bayliss’s career during Round 5 of the season, scheduled for the weekend at the Assen track. On Friday 23 July at 13.00, the Australian champion will be the protagonist of a virtual press conference at the Paddock Show together with Ducati Corse Sporting Director Paolo Ciabatti, in which the most important stages of the victory of Troy’s first title, won on the Dutch circuit, will be remembered. On Sunday 25 July at 12.05, after the SuperPole Race, the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary will complete a lap of honour on the track, ridden by Aruba.it Racing – Ducati factory rider Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who competes in WorldSBK with the same number as Bayliss.

The twentieth anniversary of Troy Bayliss winning his first title with Ducati is being celebrated in Borgo Panigale with a temporary exhibition in the Ducati Museum entitled “Troy Story: The Legend of a Champion” which exhibits the bikes with which Troy was able to write some memorable chapters in the history of motorcycle racing. The exhibition can be visited until 19 September 2021 (here more information on visits to the Ducati Museum).

The Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary will be available in UK dealers starting from October 2021 at a dealer price of £17,995

Dunlop develops GT503 tyre for the new Harley-Davidson Sportster S

The new Harley-Davidson Sportster S is one of the most anticipated new motorcycle launches of 2021. It’s one of the most powerful models in the Harley-Davidson range and Dunlop was tasked with developing an advanced new tyre designed specifically for its needs. The Dunlop GT503 features a new tyre construction and compound to provide great performance for riders, while the aggressive look of the tread pattern matches the dynamic appearance of the Sportster S.

The new GT503 provides its riders with many advanced features. The radial construction features a Steel Jointless Belt (JLB) technology, which delivers more responsive and consistent handling while also providing a compliant ride. The tread pattern on GT503 has been developed to maximise the contact patch and provide Sportster S riders with high levels of dry grip, whereas the long tread grooves enhance riding confidence on wet surfaces. With the newly developed compound, GT503 provides not only excellent grip but also offers high mileage potential.

The tyre features the Harley-Davidson logo on the sidewall emphasising the bespoke design and the strong partnership between the two brands. Luca Davide Andreoni, Dunlop Marketing Manager Europe, said: “We are proud that Harley-Davidson has chosen Dunlop for the Sportster S. It is exactly 40 years since Dunlop was asked to develop specific tyres for the original Sportster. Since then, Dunlop has supplied over 10 million original equipment tyres to Harley-Davidson, highlighting the close partnership. With the Dunlop GT503 Dunlop continues that relationship in developing innovative tyres to meet the demanding requirements of the manufacturer and their customers.”

GT503 will be available in front: 160/70R17 and rear: 180/70R16 sizes. The wide front tyre size provides the custom bike look but has been tuned by Dunlop’s experts to deliver the light handling expected of sports bikes.

Details that shine with their own light

GIVI launches the new E198 courtesy interior light accessory for aluminium cases.

The Italian company, specialists in the development and manufacture of motorcycle accessories, have developed a small, highly functional detail for users of their aluminium top cases. In their quest to make life riding on two wheels easier, GIVI’s R&D department are always coming up with new solutions that make the brand the gold standard in their sector. The E198 courtesy interior light is the latest addition to a series of accessories for those who pay attention to smallest details.

GIVI have been marketing some of the best motorcycle gear for over 45 years, and in recent times its development team have gone to great lengths to bring some of their most successful ideas to life. Now the brand has produced a comfortable courtesy light for the interior of their aluminium top cases and suitcases. Powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, the E198 light can also be removed and used as an emergency flashlight.

Especially when travelling on a motorcycle at night or in winter, a lack of light can make it difficult to quickly locate a specific item amongst the luggage or belongings that are carried inside a side or rear case. To solve this problem, the leading firm in the development of motorcycle and scooter equipment presents a light which turns on automatically through the use of a gyroscope, which is activated when the lid is opened, and can be placed inside the case. A lithium battery, rechargeable with the included USB cable, gives it the power for operation.

Offering tremendous functionality, GIVI have made it so that it is possible to remove the accessory if necessary, for use as an emergency flashlight. This great idea, turned into reality, is available for a price of £15.42 + VAT retail.

The customisation of aluminium cases and top-cases is part of GIVI’s DNA; their range of optional accessories expanded over the years and today it features a wide range of items. Along with the courtesy light are backrests, luggage racks, additional handles, a trolley base, a stainless steel water bottle and its holder, extendable internal bags and folding backpacks, straps, internal covers, elastic storage nets and much more.

which everyone at Triumph is incredibly excited to be part of. We are 100% committed
to making a long-lasting impact in this highly competitive and demanding world, with a single-minded ambition to deliver a winning motorcycle line-up for a whole new

Ricky Carmichael:
I am thrilled to announce that I am joining the Triumph family and even more excited to be a part of their new endeavour into the off-road product category.

This is an incredible opportunity for me to join this historic brand, and I am honoured and humbled to be a part of the development and release of their off-road motorcycles. Building something from the ground up is something that really is intriguing to me at this stage of my career. What is impressive to me is Triumph’s dedication, and passion to develop a top of the class product. Everyone that I have been involved with in this project from the engineers, design groups, R&D dept., etc., have shown extreme passion for what they are doing and that is a recipe for success and something that I love being a part of.
We all share that same passion, and that’s to be the best.

If you are familiar with the Triumph brand, you already know the quality of craftsmanship is top shelf, and the off-road models will follow suit to their past!

Not only are these exciting times for me, but it’s an exciting time for the off-road industry to be adding another brand to the mix and the opportunities that lie ahead for all off-road consumers.  I can’t wait to see the reactions when these models hit the dealer’s showroom floors.

Ivan Cervantes:
I have loved Triumph motorcycles right from being a small kid, seeing them in films and on television. So to be working with Triumph from the beginning of this project, is an amazing opportunity for me, not just because it is working with one of the world’s greatest motorcycle brands, but also for being part of building something from zero.  It is a dream come true for any racer!

Like me, everyone I am working with at Triumph is focused to make the bikes the best they can be.  I cannot wait to see the bikes competing at a world level, but I also look forward to when I can stand in a Triumph dealer and know I was part of this very special project.

Ducati Dragons

The first Ducati Dragons weekend brought together over 30 women from across the UK, all with a shared passion for delicious Ducatis. The Dragons filled the car park of Eastwood Hall in Nottingham from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th of June 201 with the rip roaring noise of Ducati twins; the Monster and SuperSport certainly the most popular choice. Sunshine and smiles all round.

Women came from all over the UK to be part of this unique event, instigated by Gillian Riddell, an avid Ducati enthusiast. Gillian is part of the Ducati Owners Club (DOC GB). Gillian regularly attends the DOC outings and despite having several women members, she often ends up being the only one attending the events. She is keen to encourage more women to attend mixed events and by creating an event where women can meet face to face will help make new connections and get more women out together to other events too.

Upon arrival, the Dragons came together for the first time and made new connections, making time for each other before checking in. We chatted to the UpRight Motorcycle Road Safety Campaign team who came to support. Some were able to try different bikes, provided by Martin of Ducati Manchester who had kindly brought some Scramblers and Supersports for test rides. We were even interviewed for BIKE Magazine with lots of posing for photos, it made us feel like celebrities to mark the occasion!

Grabbing a quiet bite to eat before the pre-ride briefing, we set off at 1300 on Saturday on a very unique ride out. We were escorted by Tom from @UpRightDerbys (Insta) on his Police Bike which was very useful for clearing junctions! It was immensely awe inspiring to be out on the road with so many women who have a passion for Italian machines. After the first hour, we split off into different routes to enjoy the Peak District and ensure the well deserved ice cream and cake breaks where we could.

The Dragons returned back to the hotel late afternoon for some quick refreshments and a turnaround for the delicious 3 course dinner. The raffle prizes kept us applauding, especially to the winner of the exclusive Ducati jacket provided by Ducati Manchester and the gift voucher for Maja’s Motorcycle Adventures. The disco endured well into the night, topped off with fantastic goody bags provided by Verity. The Scottoiler discount and T-shirt was a superb donation, along with the Bike Sure 10% off discount offer and merch. The Muc Off Dry Lube and bike cleaner was an ideal addition to all of our garages, topped off with Ducati hats and pens, perfect!

Ready for a fresh morning in the sunshine, the Dragons left the hotel to do some more exploring in the Peaks before making their way home. Everyone who attended made a new connection with a friend in the biking world and a reinforcement that there are plenty of women out there who don’t need much of an excuse to just get out and ride!

Auritech Custom Fit Ear Plugs – A Review by Laramoto

Auritech Custom Fit Ear Plugs – A Review by Laramoto

Ever wanted a pair of ear plugs that are so comfortable that you forget you’re wearing them? Look no further than the Auritech custom fit earplugs. They fit snuggly inside the ear canal with a twist and push, totally filling your ear hole with your favourite customised colours. Did you know that your ears change as you age? The plugs you bought about 5 years ago are now well out of date. The fitting on my old ones wasn’t quite right and I knew I need an upgrade.

With my new Auritech custom plugs, I’ve certainly noticed the deadening of the right sounds and I feel protected, yet I can still have a decent conversation and hear what I need to hear on the road and track. I can still hear my Ducati burbles and the pop on the R6 of course. The moulding process is well, a hassle, but for custom plugs its the only way to go. Getting to a bike show is the most convenient way to get it done and Auritech have a studio in Guildford where they do free fittings. However there are many ear specialist stores local to you that will create your moulds and send them over to Auritech for manufacture.

The best bit? Zero risk of being pulled out when you pull your helmet over your face. Let’s be honest, the folded ear problem is real and made so much worse when perfectly placed earplugs dislodge and you’ve got to restart the neck scarf, ear plug and helmet positioning faff. No more issues with that thanks to the Auritech team!

The Auritech Custom Plugs are pretty small compared to the plugs I was using, my previous ones filled the space around my ear canal which helped a little when I was trying to get my greasy motorbike hands around them. The Auritechs are a little less easier to handle and easier to lose, so always keep your ear moulds for easy remanufacture. They come with a little bag to assist in not losing them.

I asked for some funky red white and black plugs to match my branding. They are unique to me in colour and design, plus the red and blue internal bore helps with reminding me which one is for the right or left ear. Inserting them into my ear felt uncomfortably deep but you do get used to it. The Auritechs comes with a handy wax scoop but you’ll be pleased to know I’ve saved those photos for my private collection. With years of motorcycle riding ahead of you, you’ll be grateful you invested in Auritechs.

You can use your equity release for custom-fit earplugs that are perfect for you. They can be a little pricey, but they’re worth the cost because they absorb sound better and fit more securely than traditional foam or silicone versions.

Battle flat tyres with the Desert Fox

Ultra compact, light and powerful enough to inflate a motorcycle tyre in just 90 seconds, the Desert Fox Mini Compressor is a robust go-anywhere 12-volt pump.

Available exclusively through BMW motorcycle accessory specialist Nippy Normans, Desert Fox Pro Rider Gear was established in South Africa in 2011, but is new to the UK. Their products are developed, tested and refined by high mileage overland travellers to ensure they are of the highest quality, meet the exacting needs of motorcycling, and can be totally relied upon.

The Mini Compressor is no exception and is built to deal with the most challenging conditions, with a die-cast aluminium compressor, aluminium con rod with bearings – standard pumps have plastic rods and no bearings – and stainless steel valves. It’s also fully sealed against dust.

Quick and easy to use, it operates on DC 12 Volt and has a cigarette/Hella/BMW plug for multiple power options, so you just plug and get inflating. It’s also supplied with crocodile clips, for attaching directly to the terminals of any 12V battery.

Inside there’s direct drive technology for consistent and reliable air delivery; the compressor can inflate a BMW R1200 GS rear tyre to 2 Bar in just ± 90 seconds, allowing the rider to get back on the move and out of potentially dangerous roadside positions quicker. It has a maximum capacity of 8 Bar, and can run continuously for 8 minutes.

The flexible hose allows for easy access to tricky tyre valves, and the built in pressure gauge – which also has aluminium fittings, not plastic – features both Bar and PSI readings for an accurate pressure every time.

Although designed for those who ride where there is no access to recovery services, the Mini Compressor is equally useful for tourers and commuters, reducing reliance on often inaccurate garage forecourt pumps.

Measuring just 16cm x 5cm wide – not much bigger than a small energy drink can – and supplied with a handy carry bag, it can be stashed under a seat or in the bottom of luggage and forgotten until needed.

The Desert Fox Mini Compressor is available from Nippy Normans – the UK’s No.1 for BMW motorcycle accessories – at just £49- including VAT.

Touratech parts for KTM 1290 Adventure

Touratech already has an extensive range of accessories in stock for the brand new KTM 1290 Super Adventure, and numerous other parts are being developed to make this big travel enduro even fitter for touring and offroad use.

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure not only lives up to its name, it positively challenges its rider to join it in the search for great adventures. This robust V-twin offers more than enough power for long distances, while the riding modes help to ground the power safely in offroad terrain. The “R” version adds a long-stroke suspension with large 21/18-inch spoke wheels that’s just as convincing on dirt roads as it is on gritty trails – and just as capable when it comes to sporty road riding.

Riders who accept the Adventure’s challenge obtain the parts needed for unforgettable adventures, in everything from everyday life to expeditions, from Touratech.

Protector equipment for tough rides
When riding on adventurous trails, solid protector equipment is indispensable. This is why KTM has equipped the R version of the 1290 Super Adventure with a crash bar as standard; for the standard version, this robust product is available as a factory accessory. Touratech goes one better and offers an extension that also provides protection for the fairing in even the toughest conditions.

A solid engine guard is also a must for offroad riding. The tried-and-tested “Expedition” protector made of folded ultra-robust aluminium sheeting, which, thanks to the distinctive plastic rails on its underside, acts as a skid plate that makes even rock-strewn slopes lose their terror, is also available for the Super Adventure.

For the KTM 1290 Super Adventure as well, the essentials in terms of protection also include headlight protectors and hand protectors, which are of course available from Touratech in the best quality. As an option to the proven hand protector made of unbreakable plastic, the 1290 can also be fitted with the high-end Defensa protector. In this case, a super-robust, forged aluminium bracket is responsible for protecting your handlebar fittings and hands – which can be upgraded with plastic shells and spoilers to provide suitable weather protection for touring.

Protective elements for the ABS sensor and the rear brake fluid reservoir round off our range of protectors.

Luggage systems – at home on any trail
Thanks to its enormous long-distance capability, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure is predestined for epic trips. To enable the rider to stow even a large amount of luggage securely whatever the terrain, Touratech has adapted the ZEGA Evo X aluminium pannier system, which has been tried and tested ten thousand times over, to the Adventure. This “special system” makes particularly effective use of the space available by cleverly fitting the rack and panniers around the rear silencer, combining maximum volume with minimum overall width. Otherwise, everything is as before: indestructible racks made of 18-millimetre-thick stainless steel tubing, panniers made of 1.5-millimetre-thick aluminium sheet, equipped with what is probably the world’s most robust one-hand fastening system. A system with a straight standard rack is already being developed.

Even really fat rack packs, such as those used by long-distance travellers on their month-long trips, sit securely on the aluminium and stainless steel luggage rack.

And the Touratech developers have also kept those travellers in mind who appreciate the comforts of a topcase. There is a tailor-made support for the ZEGA Evo Topcase with a volume of 38 litres for the 1290 Super Adventure. Smaller items can be stowed in the Ibarra handlebar bag for easy access, or in the Ambato tail rack bag.

And of course, there is also a version of the proven Ambato EXP Rallye tank bag, adapted to the big KTM.

And last but not least, the indestructible, waterproof soft luggage solutions of the “Extreme Edition by Touratech Waterproof” series also harmonise perfectly with the new 1290 KTM

Perfect ergonomics for optimal performance
Lengthy rides also put the rider’s physical condition to the test. To prevent any sign of your performance dropping, even after many hours of riding, individually adapted motorcycle ergonomics are essential.

The biggest step forward for Adventure riders, when it comes to long-distance capability, is the Touratech one-piece comfort seat. The high-quality foam won’t sag even under continuous use, and the ergonomic design distributes the load precisely, so that strain on the rider is minimised. Currently, seat variants in three different heights are being developed.

You can achieve perfect posture and balance when standing, by combining the handlebar riser with the wide long-distance foot pegs. The Pivot Pegz articulated foot pegs provide you with additional freedom of movement on your motorcycle. The brake lever extension ensures reliable deceleration even when wearing clunky enduro boots.

Small parts, big effect
Although at first glance quite inconspicuous, it’s all the small parts, into which decades of Touratech offroad experience has flowed, that offer the decisive advantage out on the tracks. When the going gets tough, the folding, length-adjustable mirror proves its worth just as quickly as the kick stand support extension (only “R”), the stainless steel chain guard fin, the folding brake lever or the carefully assembled set of professional tools.

And so much more…
The above-mentioned products mark the beginning of the Touratech accessories range for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure. Numerous other parts are in development or already being tested.

Following the Government’s announcement that most lockdown restrictions will be lifted from 19th July, organisers of the popular Ardingly Summer Classic Bike Show & Autojumble have confirmed that the event will go ahead as planned on Sunday 25th July, with some additional measures to keep visitors and exhibitors safe.

Held at the South of England Showground in Ardingly, with easy access from the M23, the venue is deemed ‘Good to Go’ by Visit England.

“Following our previous successful events at Ardingly, which ran without any hitches, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors and exhibitors back” says organiser Julie Diplock. “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the show in a safe and relaxed environment, so we’re following government advice and ask people to wear masks in the exhibition halls. We’ve increased space between stands indoors and there will be hand sanitiser stations around the halls, as well as a one-way system, to aid social distancing,”

Now is its 15th year, the show offers visitors an opportunity to see a huge variety of classic motorcycles displayed on club stands, plus individual entries for pre-1980 machines, spread throughout four large airy halls. An all-motorcycle autojumble and trade stands offer visitors a vast array of new and used parts, accessories, clothing, tools and more.

A new outdoor display area – centrally located, between the two large autojumble halls – provides plenty more space to browse in comfort.

As well as the autojumble, specialist dealers and service providers exhibit at Ardingly and BikeMart returns, where members of the public can display complete, running machines for sale.

Gates open to the public from 10am on Sunday 25th July and tickets cost  £7- for adults. Accompanied children under 16 get in for free.

For serious bargain-hunters, Earlybird Admission from 7:30am is available for £10.
