Fresh look for LS2 flip-front helmet

Form meets function with LS2’s FF902 Scope flip-front helmet, which comes in two fresh contemporary colour options for 2021.

Both the ‘Arch’ graphics – White/Titanium and Matt/Titanium/Pink – complement the modern shape of the Scope helmet, perfect for riders who want stand-out style, with the comfort and practicality a flip-front provides.

Offering premium specification at an accessible price, the Scope is made using High Pressure Thermoplastic Technology, which meets the latest safety standards and keeps weight low – just 1650 grams.

It comes in three outer shell sizes, for the smallest possible outline in each size range, and a chin curtain also features, to help keep the weather out, and reduce annoying and distracting wind noise.

The quick-release visor has a wide aperture, offering maximum peripheral vision – a must have for tackling traffic. A Pinlock anti-fog shield is included as standard, and there’s a handy drop-down sun visor.

Dynamic Flow-through Ventilation – with intake ports at the chin and crown, internal channels and exhaust ports to the rear – helps keep the rider cool and comfortable. The hypoallergenic lining is removable and washable for season-long freshness.

An oval shell shape and laser-cut EPS and foam cheek give a reassuringly snug and comfortable fit. A quick-release, micrometric buckle fastening holds the Scope firmly in place and makes getting in and out at stops a doddle.

The LS2 Scope retails for £129.99 in new Arch graphics; solid colours sell for £119.99.

The Panigale V4 is ready to compete on any circuit with Ducati Performance accessories

The Panigale V4 S is the bike that embodies all the essence of Ducati sportiness. In the 2021 version, the Borgo Panigale super sports bike is even easier to ride and is designed to help the rider achieve top performance on the circuit, resulting in an improvement in lap times both for the professional and for the amateur. The Panigale V4 2021 is equipped with two Race Riding Modes, A and B, which can be customized by the user and is the only bike in the world equipped with ABS Cornering “Only Front” developed specifically for maximum performance on the track, as well as the lowest levels of electronics settings (DTC, DSC and DWC).

To make the Panigale V4 S even more unique and performing on track, Ducati offers its fans a series of accessories from the Ducati Performance catalogue. The accessories contained in the catalogue are designed by the Centro Stile Ducati and produced in collaboration with selected partners, with the aim of ensuring maximum performance and enhancing the typically racing look of the bike.

On 30 May, Barni Racing Team rider Luca Salvadori demonstrated the Panigale V4 S competitiveness, by participating and winning in the 1000 Open category of the second round of the MotoEstate 2021 Trophy, one of the most popular amateur trophies in Italy. On that occasion, the stock Panigale V4 S ridden by Salvadori, equipped with a full racing exhaust, Pirelli slick tyres and a series of accessories contained in the Ducati Performance catalogue, also took pole position, setting the Cremona Circuit lap record.

The accessories mounted on Salvadori’s Panigale V4 S during the race can be purchased from all dealers in the Ducati network. They include the Akrapovič complete titanium exhaust group , developed by Ducati Corse technicians on the basis of the exhaust mounted on the Panigale V4 R used in the Superbike World Championship by Scott Redding and Michael Rinaldi; the Rizoma adjustable aluminium footpegs, which allow riders to find the best possible position for their build and riding style and a racing seat in technical fabric, able to offer comfort and grip to maximize stability while riding. There are also a series of elements made of carbon, such as the front mudguard and swingarm cover, but also the number plate holder removal cover sets and mirror hole covers, ideal for occluding the holes made by the removal of unnecessary elements in track use.

These accessories are the same as the ones equipping the Panigale V4 S that Ducati Corse riders use to train between rounds of the MotoGP and Superbike World Championships.

On the Ducati.com website there is the  ‘Configurator’ section, a tool designed by the Borgo Panigale manufacturer to offer all Ducatisti the possibility of customizing their motorcycles, by selecting accessories and special parts, which also include magnesium rims and a dry clutch.

Pirelli introduce ‘SCX’ Slick Tyre for 14th Year of BSB Racing

Pirelli introduce ‘SCX’ Slick (Super Soft) tyre for 14th year of Bennetts British Superbike Championship Sole Tyre Supply.

Pirelli enter their fourteenth season as Sole Tyre Supplier to the Bennetts British Superbike (BSB) Championship with the addition of the DIABLO™ Superbike Slick SCX (Super Soft) tyre to rider’s available options

Introduced into the WSBK paddock in 2019, the BSB series debut of the SCX tyre follows last season’s change to Pirelli’s larger size tyres.

Each BSB event will be now a triple header with a ‘Sprint’ race on Saturday after qualifying, ahead of two standard length Superbike races on Sunday. The new SCX tyre is likely to feature heavily during Saturday qualifying and the shorter ‘Sprint’ outing providing ultimate performance over the shortened distance races.

SCX also comes into its own when track temperatures are higher and on smoother asphalt, allowing teams to develop a chassis setting aimed at exploiting the increased grip levels provided by the SCX option.

Superbike riders will have the choice of the new SCX tyre and the almost universally used (in BSB2020) SC0 Soft rear tyre. After inclement weather at the early BSB tests, riders were able to evaluate the qualities of the new tyre at the most recent Donington test which was held in warm temperatures. Rear tyre sizes as introduced last year are 200/65R17, with a larger diameter for increased grip as riders exit a corner.

At the ‘front end’, riders can choose from the SC1 and SC2 (harder) option tyres with the SC2 giving a more stable feeling as a rider transitions into a corner (drops in). The front tyres were also increased in size last season to give a wider contact patch from a 120 to 125 section (now 125/70 17).

In the event of rain, there are two RAIN tyres in a soft or harder compound and the Diablo WET (Intermediate) tyre, which was used to good effect by Jonathan Rea at the recently held Aragon round of the World Superbikes Championship.

The Pirelli presence in the paddock has also changed as new logistics partner Protyre Motorsport will be bringing 4,000 tyres to each of the eleven events to service the Superbike, Supersport, Superstock, Junior Superstock, Junior Supersport and Ducati Tri-Options classes.

Jason Griffiths Pirelli UK Racing Manager explained, “Pirelli are ready for what will certainly be a very busy season with a compact race calendar. The introduction to the series of the SCX rear tyre will provide added interest in terms of tyre strategy. The high track temperatures at the recent Donington Park test allowed the teams and riders to evaluate the new tyre over race distance and it is clear that given suitable track temperatures and less aggressive asphalt the SCX option can be used for the full length races, as we have seen in World Superbikes. BSB continues to provide an incredibly competitive grid and we’re ready for the racing to begin.”

2021 (SUPERBIKE CLASS) TYRE OPTIONS

FRONT:

  • 125/70 R17 SC1 (SOFTER):

This is the softest solution available for the front. This compound was developed to provide high grip, performance and riding precision with a versatility of use.

  • 125/70 R17 SC2 (HARDER)

This new medium solution is sturdier and quicker in direction changes, gives more support, good grip, maximum lean angle and better absorption of any bumps on the track.

REAR:

  • 200/65 R17 SCX (SUPER SOFT)

This solution, which uses an extremely soft compound, designed to sit between the performance of a qualifying compound and that of a soft racing tyre.

  • 200/65 R17 SC0 (SOFT)

This option was the tyre of choice for the 2020 BSB series. It offers consistency for long races and also delivers maximum performance across a wide operating temperature range.

RAIN TYRES

  • DIABLO™ RAIN

There are two RAIN rear tyres which were first utilised in BSB in 2019 (now in size 200/60) with different groove angles in the grip area, which allow a more consistent wear across the tyre and greater tread stability. Revised shoulder grooves improve water dispersion and improve grip when leaning and traction coming out of corners. Two compounds are available:

  • SCR1: compound intended for use in cooler conditions (asphalt temperatures lower than 15°C) or particularly smooth asphalt. This tyre gives the greater grip level.
  • SCR2: compound dedicated to higher track temperatures (asphalt temperatures higher than 15°C) or particularly aggressive asphalt. This should be the most used solution if the track is starting to dry out.
  • DIABLO™ WET

As previously an ‘intermediate’ tyre is available for the tricky damp / drying track which features less grooves than the ‘full’ RAIN tyre. Developed in 190/60 R17 sizing for the rear.

TYRE ALLOCATIONS 2021
A regular total dry tyre usage limit applies for the race weekend (free practice, qualifying practice, warm up and races). 8 Rear (dry) tyres and 8 Front (dry) tyres. Riders graduating to Qualifying 2, (the top six) from Qualifying 1 are authorised to use one extra set of tyres (1 dry front and 1 dry rear). In Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2 all riders may use a maximum of one set of tyres (1 front and 1 rear) in each session. This will be indicated by a “Q” sticker on each tyre used.

SUPPORT CLASSES: DIABLO™ SUPERCORSA SC V3
The all new (for 2019), third generation, PIRELLI DIABLO™ Supercorsa SC V3 has been completely redesigned in terms of structure, profiles, tread pattern and compounds to give a more consistent performance.

These tyres are available for the following classes: Quattro British Supersport 600 & 300, Pirelli National Superstock 1000 & 600 plus the Ducati TriOptions Cup.

The DIABLO™ Supercorsa range of road legal tyres are the ultimate in Pirelli’s customer range of treaded tyres for racing and track day use. The ‘SP’ version of these tyres are used by sports bike owners the world over for everyday road and trackday usage.

Fairing better on the BMW R18

BMW R18 owners can unlock the long-distance potential of the big Boxer twin – without compromising it’s classic lines – with a neat new Cockpit Fairing from Wunderlich.

Designed, made and hand-finished in Germany, the Cockpit Fairing provides much needed relief from wind buffeting as well as weather protection, whilst blending seamlessly with the retro twin’s classic look.

As you’d expect from Wunderlich, it’s made from the highest quality materials – 5mm thick ABS plastic, manufactured in a deep-drawing process and then precision-shaped on a CNC milling machine, to fit neatly around the R18’s headlight.

Matched perfectly to the bike, it’s painted in Black Storm Metallic and is lined by hand.

Customers have the option to finish off the fairing with either a clear, tint or black screen (available separately). These are also of the highest quality: manufactured in scratch-, UV- and petrol-resistant, 5mm optically-pure PMMA plastic.

Quick and easy to mount, the fairing comes complete with a discreet fitting kit made from precision steel tubing that needs no modifications to the bike – indicators, mirrors and steering lock are also unaffected.

The Wunderlich R18 Cockpit Fairing retails at £649 including VAT. The optional clear, tint and black screens cost £119 for the sport style and £129 for the touring version, which is 35mm taller.

Both screen and fairing are covered by a 5-year warranty.and are available from Wunderlich’s exclusive UK partner www.nippynormans.com, along with a huge selection of accessories for the R18 and other BMW models

Piaggio Group Press Day

Myself and Maja Kenney of Maja’s Motorcycle Adventures were invited along to Piaggio press day to try out some of the brands bikes. My short musing can be read here below are Maja’s thoughts on the day and machines.

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend Piaggio Press Day in Silverstone. That means riding Italian bikes for the day. I couldn’t be happier. Aprilia, in particular, was always one on my want list.

I have made my selection of bikes I wanted to ride before I arrived at Silverstone and I was a little bit anxious and very much excited to get going. A number of us attended and were greeted by the very friendly team at Piaggio. Once the paperwork and the initial briefing were done we set off on our first ride.

Each had four time slots to ride four different bikes and we were guided around Silverstone by Mark from Spyder Motorcycles Hire

My first choice was a Moto Guzzi V85 TT. I am on the lookout for a good adventure bike to run my tours on and with my passion for everything Italian and something that is a little bit rare, this seemed like it could be just the ticket. I jumped on and started the engine and was surprised by how much the bike shook. The engine vibrated so hard it felt the whole bike was moving sideways. Once we got going the shaking stopped and the ride was very smooth. I did find the V85 quite tall and was on my tiptoes as it usually happens on adventure bikes and I stand at 5’6” so not exactly short. The bike was easy to ride, smooth gear changes, easy to corner and it was very comfortable. Suspension is great and I barely noticed the raised ironworks or potholes. In fact, it almost felt as if I was sitting on a sofa and not riding the bike myself. When we returned back to base I dismounted the bike and didn’t even look back. It hasn’t really made much of an impression on me, I would say it would be a useful tool rather than the passion inducing Italian machine.

My second bike choice was the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory. I was really excited about riding this one, having experienced a V4 engine on another Italian a couple of months prior, I was really looking forward to seeing how it compares. The sitting position on the Tuono is more upright, similar to my Ducati Supersport which makes it great for covering the miles in relative comfort. It rivals the Ducati Streetfighter and the BMW S1000R in its design, purpose and looks. The ride is rapid and smooth, the power delivery is consistent and it corners beautifully. It is a beautiful machine that sounds amazing and looks stunning. However, I felt there are too many electronics controlling the ride and I wasn’t really in charge, more of a pillion. It was almost too perfect for enjoyment and whilst I did have a big grin on my face once the ride ended I can’t say it moved my soul.

We stopped for lunch, a proper Italian wood fired pizza oven was waiting for our orders and it was delicious. The weather has turned and it has started to rain which was a bit annoying given that my next bike was the new Aprilia RS660.

I am always a bit anxious sitting on a sports bike because of the riding position. I worry about putting too much weight through my wrists and losing the control of the bike when needed but it always turns out to be an unnecessary worry and in fact, I quite enjoy short rides on such bikes. The RS660 has full fairings which I am used to and that certainly helped because the winds have picked up and at times I felt the winds will pick me and the bike off the road too! An opportunity for an overtake reminded me that you need to work a little bit harder to have enough speed for a safe overtake. Similarly to the V4 Tuono, the bike seems to ride itself and I was very surprised at how small the bike is overall. I felt I was literally sitting on top of it with very little of the bike in front of me. It felt odd to start with but I quickly got used to it and actually felt more in control of the bike and the ride.

My original plan was to leave early and head back to North Wales but was talked into staying for the last ride and to try the Aprilia Tuono 660. The truth is, I was enjoying the other two so much I didn’t really need my arm twisting. And I was glad I stayed! The upright sitting position and the slightly smaller bike to the V4 felt instantly comfortable and oddly familiar. I couldn’t wait to get going. Even in the rain, it felt stable and connected to the road. Somehow it felt faster than the RS660 and less controlling than the V4. I actually felt like I was in charge, not the bike. The cornering was super effortless, incredibly responsive to all of my commandes, it felt raw and willing to listen and follow my lead. I think it was quite obvious when we returned just how much I enjoyed the bike and which ones was my favourite of the day! Huge grin and I wouldn’t shut up about it. I am looking forward to spending more time on this bike to give it a proper review.

After the rides finished we stopped for a cake and more coffee, chatted amongst ourselves and compared notes whilst hoping the rain would stop. No such luck and eventually we felt we better leave our wonderful hosts to wrap up their day as I jumped back on my Supersport for a very windy and rainy ride back to North Wales.

Many thanks to Niels/Lea and also Spyder Motorcycles Hire for sorting things on the day

MV Agusta To Attempt World Record Of Maximum Countries Visited In 24 Hours

With journalist Valerio Boni riding the renewed Turismo Veloce in a 2.000km-long epic journey across Europe, from Sweden to Italy

On the longest day of the year, the summer solstice of June 21st, MV Agusta, together with journalist Valerio Boni, will attempt to beat the record of the most countries visited in 24 hours on a motorcycle.

Boni will set off on a 2000 km ride across Europe, respecting all the traffic and speed regulations, starting from Malmö in Sweden and ending at the MV Agusta headquarters in Schiranna, Italy, setting the mark of the most countries visited at 11:  Sweden, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein and of course, Italy. A real endurance test for Boni and his 2021 edition Turismo Veloce Lusso SCS.

Valerio Boni, 62, is an Italian motorcycling journalist. A true motorsport enthusiast, he’d ride anything with wheels and an engine and has a particular predilection for endurance raids. He was among the first Italian riders taking part in African rallies, and rode 125 cc Cagivas to victory in Morocco and Egypt. He also has a passion for long distance, round-the-clock challenges. Last month he set the Guinness World Record for the longest distance on a minibike in 24 hours.

MV Agusta named the enterprise “TVEE”, Turismo Veloce Europe Endurance, inspired by the TEE, Trans Europe Express, the legendary train service that operated in Europe from 1957 to 1991, and which represented, at the time, the fastest and most stylish way to travel across the continent before the advent of high-speed.

But Boni’s quest won’t be stopping at the world record, since he will also attempt to gain SaddleSore 1600K and SaddleSore 2000K certifications from the Iron Butt Association, the “World’s toughest Motorcycle Riders”. The challenges consist in riding respectively 1.600 km and 2.000 km in less than 24 hours.

Valerio Boni commented: “This long, epic ride across Europe will certainly be challenging for both rider and bike, but the 2021 edition of the Turismo Veloce, in its production version, has everything it takes to achieve the objective in the best conditions. Thanks to the Turismo Veloce’s onboard technology we will be able to share the adventure in real time on the official website www.mvagusta.com

For the Model Year 2021, MV Agusta engineers have been working hard at improving comfort and aerodynamics protection. They also optimised torque and fuel consumption, making the renewed MV Agusta, which also features the new MV Ride App, possibly the most exclusive touring bike of all times. It certainly will be the most reliable, comfortable and stylish for Boni’s 2.000 km ramble across the old continent.

Says Stephen Erbrick, Co-Founder and Programme Director – Bikerbnb, “We met with George and his team in Wales last summer during a Royal Enfield demonstration day at Baffle Haus. We were immediately impressed by the Interceptor 650 and the agile Himalayan and realised how a partnership with Royal Enfield could complement the Highland Scramble and our growing rental fleet. We love how Royal Enfield offers accessible, reliable and customisable motorbikes all over the world.

The build quality is top-notch and we are excited to work with George and his team this season to help grow our fleet to serve a diverse audience of riders. Looking ahead, we are excited to encourage collaboration among major brands like Royal Enfield and provide an opportunity for the Royal Enfield Owner’s Club to join a specially curated adventure in August. We can’t wait to ride the custom scramblers and see the hard work from the UK Technology Centre team in Leicester pay off on the backroads in Scotland. We can’t wait to ride with Royal Enfield this summer!”

Bikerbnb’s The Highland Scramble Partners with Royal Enfield

Curated adventures and motorcycle hire across the Scottish Highlands.

A series of 10 adventures for the 2021 season, covering 10,000 miles of epic Scottish scenery.

Bikerbnb, the first-of-its kind travel platform offering motorcycle-friendly accommodation, guided motorcycle tours and bike hire from Edinburgh, Scotland has partnered with Royal Enfield to support the Highland Scramble events series. Bikerbnb will be riding Royal Enfield’s award-winning Interceptor 650 and Himalayan motorcycles, whose ease of handling, versatility and durability make them perfect for riders looking to explore some of the best roads Scotland has to offer.

Bikerbnb piloted their popular events in 2019, featuring the signature Highland Scramble Traverse which starts and finishes in Edinburgh and takes riders on a route traversing the epic landmarks of Glencoe, Loch Lomond and Loch Ness. This season, each ride will be led by Bikerbnb on specially outfitted custom Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 scramblers. The grandeur of the scenery is complemented by local food which is often cooked fireside on a Big Green Egg, motorcycle-friendly accommodation and the conviviality of the fellow adventurers, all under the expert guidance of the Bikerbnb host team.

Bikerbnb’s Highland Scramble adventures are nearly every other weekend from May through September. The adventures have been designed by their expert team whose attitude towards motorcycling as a way of life has led them to build Bikerbnb’s main offering: an online booking platform featuring only motorcycle-friendly accommodation across the UK and Europe, a first in terms of a dedicated accommodation platform designed by bikers for bikers. The team hopes to grow the platform over the coming years into new markets and countries through the partnership with Royal Enfield.

At the heart of Bikerbnb’s ethos is the desire to connect the motorcycling community with like-minded adventurers. The Highland Scramble adventure series is a natural extension of this philosophy – a chance for like-minded individuals to connect with each other whilst enjoying an incredible experience in Scotland’s natural playground.

The Bikerbnb Highland Scramble is divided into the following rides:

Highland Scramble Moto Camp: For more intrepid guests preferring to sleep under canvas, Bikerbnb’s Moto Camp features two nights in wigwams and three nights in bell tents at a remote loch outside of Inverness. The team will follow the weather and recommend amazing riding that prominently features Scotland’s rugged and desolate west coast. After each ride, guests can relax by fishing, exploring nearby dirt tracks or enjoy a beer or whisky tasting. 24-28 June / 1-5 July. Please contact ths@bikerbnb.com so the team can recommend an appropriate package.

Bikerbnb has also just opened its first headquarters in downtown Edinburgh to support the Highland Scramble and it’s growing hire programme. From Edinburgh, bikerbnb riders can hire a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 or Himalayan and head north to the Highlands. The team has partnered with brands like Belstaff and Quad Lock to provide high-quality apparel and motorcycle navigation accessories to ensure the comfort and safety of their customers even in the most challenging conditions.

Remarks from Royal Enfield and Bikerbnb
Says George Cheeseman, Country Manager UK – Royal Enfield, “We are delighted to be partnering with the team at Bikerbnb to offer customers the opportunity to access their amazing adventures on our

brilliantly versatile Himalayans and Interceptors. Our motorcycles are renowned for the robust build quality and ease of riding, meaning that these incredible journeys can be accessible to every rider, no matter what their experience level. Bikerbnb and Royal Enfield are natural partners given their shared passion for promoting a biking philosophy that prizes the experience above all else.

We love Bikerbnb’s Highland Scramble product; the ideal opportunity to showcase our motorcycles in their element, in the great outdoors whilst riders have a once in a lifetime adventure in the company of like-minded travellers. Here at Royal Enfield, we’re all about getting people onto their bikes so they can have epic adventures and create incredible memories, and so we have been building our network of Experience Partners across the UK to ensure that there are plenty of opportunities for riders to do just that.”

4th Place Championship Position Proves New Maxxis Tyre

The Maxxis MaxxCross MX-ST+ is the latest motocross tyre from Maxxis, and has proven its ability to withstand a wider variety of terrain than its predecessor, the MX-ST, by achieving a series of impressive results this weekend [12 – 13 June] at the Orlyonok motocross track for the MXGP of Russia.

The brand-new MaxxCross MX-ST+, the next generation of its predecessor, the MaxxCross MX-ST, has proven itself at the MXGP of Russia.

Fresh from a satisfying seasonal debut in the Internazionali d’Italia, Alessandro Lupino of Marchetti KTM raced two fantastic heats at the hard-pack and varied Orlyonok track of the MXGP of Russia, bringing his MaxxCross MX-ST+ clad KTM home in 4th position in the World Championship standings, preceded only by factory teams.

In addition, Jeremy Van Horebeek on his brand-new factory Beta motocross bike, achieved a top-10 World Championship standing by the end of the weekend, closing the Russian GP in 9th place. Meanwhile, in the MX2 championship, Simon Laengenfelde of the DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory MX2 Racing team secured another top-10 finish in the MX2 World Championship, resulting in a weekend of three top-10 results for Maxxis riders in the opening round of MXGP.

Following continuous tweaks and close monitoring across a variety of tracks, Maxxis Technical Centre Europe has developed a dual-compound version of the Maxxis MaxxCross MX-ST which offers improved turning, jumping, acceleration, traction, braking straight-line stability performance and, most notably, improved mileage compared to both the original MaxxCross MX-ST and the leading competitor in the motocross market.

The MaxxCross MX-ST+ remains an extremely lightweight tyre for maximum speed with immediate traction off-the-gate. The front tyre continues to be incredibly precise for a nimble handling and riding experience, while the powerful, dual-compound rear tyre provides incredible traction across a wide range of track types.

Brand-new to the UK, the MXGP news of the weekend is a fantastic demonstration of the new motocross tyre’s abilities on gruelling, varied hard pack tracks, making it suitable for professional and grassroots motocross riders alike, who want a race-specification tyre to offer consistent performance throughout race day or training day.

Available now in 100/90-19, 110/90-19 and 80/100-21, the MaxxCross MX-ST+ is available to order from motocross shops nationwide, or from bickers-online.co.uk.

Flat Track Packs for Indian FTR

Indian FTR owners who’re going round in circles to find a luggage solution can rest easy, because Ventura has added the flat tracker to its Evo Luggage System fitment list.

An ultra minimalist rear end and upswept exhausts give the FTR an authentic flat track look, but do little to aid carrying luggage.

Developed to solve the problem, the Ventura System adds versatile luggage capacity, without the weight and unsightly racking of hard luggage, and with much more stability and practicality than soft bags.

Quick and easy to mount – and even easier to live with – the Evo System is made up of just three elements:

  1. Discreet L-Brackets – tailor made for the FTR and which attach to existing mounts;
  2. An Evo Rack – offering a stable and secure platform for the luggage;
  3. The Evo Pack – which simply slides on and clips in place.

Ventura’s sleeve-fitting system means the Pack won’t move around – even when riding hard. It’s also quick and easy to remove and reattach the Pack at stops – no straps or fiddly locks and keys.

When riding solo, the Pack is carried directly behind the rider and close to the bike’s centre of gravity; when a passenger is on board, it can be re-positioned behind the pillion seat in seconds.

Both options carry the load well clear of the FTR’s upswept exhausts and the rear wheel. Unlike panniers, there’s no extra width added to the bike.

When luggage isn’t needed, the Pack and Rack can be removed in seconds, leaving only the L-brackets in place. There is also an option to replace the Rack with a Grab Handle, leaving the FTR’s clean lines uncluttered.

Packs come in various sizes, from the handy 12-litre Evo-12 to the massive 60-litre Evo-60 Jet Stream. Each one features water-resistant and durable laminated ballistic fabric construction, with wide openings for quick and easy access to contents, aerodynamic shaping to cheat the wind and much more.

A typical System for the FTR, with L-Brackets, Evo-Rack and the Evo-22 Pack (pictured), costs £364.62 including VAT – significantly less than hard luggage. The optional Grab Handle is just £22.80 including VAT and Ventura are currently offering one free with any luggage kit (including L-Brackets, Rack, and Pack).

Fitments are currently available for the 2019-2021 Indian FTR, FTR S and FTR R Carbon.

KTM’s Award-winning Terra Adventure Outfit Brings Innovation To The Saddle

KTM often blend gut-wrenching excitement and high versatility throughout their motorcycle portfolio but the same enviable qualities filter into the KTM PowerWear catalogue, as evidence by the 2021 Red Dot Award winning TERRA ADVENTURE jacket and gearset.

The sheer level of performance pumped out by rides such as the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R and S and the whole KTM ADVENTURE range meant the pressure was on to match the level with an all-weather jacket and pants combo. Two years of internal development, a team of five people and a solid month of testing with more than 20,000km in a variety of climates helped form the innovation behind the 2021 TERRA ADVENTURE that nudged the bar higher in a competitive apparel market.

How? Superior materials and protective elements were key but so was the state-of-the-art features and a ventilation system that earned recognition of the distinguished German Red Dot Award.

Part of the comprehensive test crew were world traveler Joe Pichler and decorated Kiwi offroad racer Chris Birch. KTM have been able to marry their renowned attention to detail and engineering nuance with acute knowledge of what adventure riders really want. “It was back in 2018 when we came up with the first designs and ideas and decided to create this extraordinary outfit in-house,” explains Product Manager Philipp Penninger“We felt there was a gap in the adventure segment and wanted to develop something that hadn’t really been seen before. We think we’ve succeeded judging by the reactions so far and of course the RedDot.”

The TERRA ADVENTURE jacket really drops the hanger. The multi-layered garment has a removable 100% waterproof shell (that can be zipped to the front or folded and stored in the back pocket) as well as a retractable and independent thermal liner: all of which clips and zips together easier than a throttle twist. Woven into other sections of the jacket are SAS-TEC shoulder and elbow protectors with pockets for an optional chest and back units.

Where the TERRA ADVENTURE jacket excels is through the ventilation potential, which has been designed for optimum efficiency in the saddle. Pulling the front tabs will quickly open the chest panels while the upper tabs will release the rear shoulder sections. When the temperatures really rise – or the humidity creeps up – then rolling down the back panel pushes a load more air flow. YKK-Quickburst zippers mean swift and easy access and this advantage is augmented by the handy ‘pullers’. These attributes and specs are ‘game changing’ additions.

There are at least three pockets, one of which is removable, and another is waterproof. Comfort comes with the soft-edged collar and the sleeve adjustments for the perfect taper. There is a bag and tube guide for an optional hydration pack and the discreet black and orange colorway incorporates reflective elements.

The TERRA ADVENTURE pants adopt the same robust yet effective philosophy with zipped thigh vents that will deliver cooling in the most aggressive riding stance. The pants come with SAS-TEC protectors for the hips and knees while the leather knee area means an extra guard against heat while increasing friction with the bike’s surface. Adventurers might have to cope with some gnarly riding terrain now and again, so the TERRA ADVENTURE pant is made from tough fabrics and tear-resistant ripstop construction. Riders won’t have to stress about the fit; adjustable waistband and belt and leg bottoms will take care of that.

Just as any KTM ADVENTURE motorcycle will remove geographical limits, the KTM TERRA ADVENTURE ensures that all riders are equipped for any condition or course. Zip up, fire-up and get going.

GSX-R1000R and GSX-S750 on new 3% APR offer from Suzuki

Suzuki’s GSX-R1000R superbike and GSX-S750 naked are both now available on a lower rate of finance, with 3% APR representative on offer over three years, across both PCP and hire purchase agreements.

The GSX-R1000R – including the limited edition anniversary model – can be ridden away for £188.15 per month on a three year PCP deal with a £2,000 deposit or trade-in. Over the same period with the same deposit, the GSX-S750 can be had for a mere £64.34 per month, a little over £2 per day.

With a 200PS motor inheriting the same variable valve timing system as the MotoGP world championship-winning GSX-RR racer, a comprehensive suite of performance enhancing electronics – including a quickshifter and autoblipper, launch control, lean angle-sensitive traction control and ABS – the GSX-R1000R won the 2019 National Superstock 1000 championship and has won races in domestic superbike championships the world over.

The GSX-S750 uses a 749cc inline-four cylinder that started life in the iconic GSX-R750 and delivers a smooth, linear power delivery, and gets traction control, low RPM assist, and Suzuki easy start, all wrapped in an agile chassis and sharp, streetfighter styling.

The New MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR

208 “brutal” horsepower. An even more muscular engine, extended equipment and a more capable chassis. This is the new Brutale 1000 RR MY21 summed up in a single sentence. From the engine to the chassis, every area of the bike has been updated by way of the revamped electronics.

THE MAIN NEW FEATURES OF THE 2021 BRUTALE 1000

  • EURO 5 LOW-FRICTION ENGINE
  • REDESIGNED EXHAUST
  • NEW IMU INERTIAL PLATFORM
  • CONTINENTAL ABS WITH CORNERING FUNCTION
  • REDESIGNED FOOTPEGS

ENGINE, UNSTOPPABLE IMPROVEMENT
An MV Agusta exclusive not only in the segment but across today’s entire motorcycle panorama. The four cylinder with radial valves continues to undergo development with its components further improved to reduce internal friction.

An extremely high-performance engine that is particularly sophisticated in terms of its materials. The titanium con-rods, for example, are a unique element in the naked segment. Titanium is also used for the valves (intake as well as exhaust), an exclusive technical choice that not only ensures greater power, but also high engine speeds worthy of a true superbike. Timing is updated with the introduction of new cam phasing new camshafts that adopt new phasing in order to fill out the torque curve at medium/low rpm. The use of a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating for the valve tappets cuts down on friction and improves reliability. The addition of new primary drive gearing helps reduce friction between the gears, while overall transmission has been strengthened to improve reliability, especially during the impressive starts guaranteed by the Launch Control, while the EAS 3.0 electronic gearbox, now in its third generation, has a new sensor for more precise shifting and more comfortable insertion. The four-exit exhaust, an unmistakeable MV Agusta Brutale trademark, boasts a revised main manifold. The purpose? To emphasise the unmistakeable Brutale sound, while fully conforming to Euro 5 regulations

MORE COMPLETE ELECTRONICS
The electronics package of the new Brutale 1000 RR continues to reach new heights. The new IMU inertial platform allows for evaluating the bike’s real-time position, supplying very precise data to the ECU to swiftly manage every command.

Thanks to this new platform, traction and FLC wheelie controls are able to fully protect the rider’s safety while remaining “performance oriented”, offering the maximum possible acceleration in complete safety. Specifically, the FLC does not limit the wheelie, but controls it. The ABS boasts a new Continental MK100 module complete with cornering function to ensure ultimate braking control even at an angle. The comprehensive 5.5” TFT instrumentation, which communicates with the MV Ride app, allows the user to customise every aspect of the bike directly from their smartphone while also offering more ‘traditional’ functions, such as recording and sharing itineraries. Thanks to its mirroring function, the dashboard can be used as a navigator with turn-by-turn directions. Every function can be quickly accessed and navigated via the joystick on the left block. The TPMS sensor for monitoring tyre pressure is now available as an optional.

CHASSIS, MORE COMFORTABLE AND EFFICIENT
Radical, compact, and extremely light. The chassis of the MV Agusta Brutale RR has long topped the hypernaked segment.

Now, a few targeted structural updates make it even more ridable on narrow, uneven paths. The suspension boosts load transfer control and the ability to absorb rough surfaces, all of which makes the new 2021 Brutale 1000 RR even more effective on the road. The ultra-lightweight forged wheels emphasise its handling, while the full Brembo braking system with radial master cylinder and Stylema callipers is simply state of the art.

SUPERSTRUCTURE, EVERY DETAIL COUNTS
A unique and unmistakeable design does not need continual updates. The look of the Brutale 1000 RR remains unchanged, as do the distinctive lines and carbon elements, although on-going functional research has led to redesigned footpegs, now forged, for better riding control.

“Lights on me”: new “Black and Steel” version for the Diavel 1260 S

Ducati enriches the Diavel 1260 family for the 2022 Model Year with the presentation of the new Diavel 1260 S “Black and Steel”, which will be available in dealerships starting from July 2021.

After launching the special Diavel 1260 Lamborghini version in November 2020, created in collaboration with the Sant’Agata Bolognese car manufacturer, Ducati is further expanding the Diavel 1260 family with the arrival of this new motorcycle, which is inspired by the concept of the Diavel “Materico” presented in 2019 on the occasion of the “Beautiful Boldness / Visionary Design” event during the Milan Design Week and subsequently put on display at MOARD (Motorcycle Art & Design), an exhibition dedicated to two-wheel design.

The livery of the Diavel 1260 S “Black and Steel” is characterized by the  choice of asymmetrical and refined graphics that combine glossy grey and matt black as the main colours, to which are added sporty touches in yellow, including the frame, the lower part of the tail, the dedicated seat badge and some details of the bike.

From 10 to 13 June the new Diavel 1260 S “Black and Steel” will be exhibited in a world premiere at the 2021 edition of the MIMO Motor Show. Enthusiasts will be able to admire it inserted in the prestigious setting of Piazza Duomo in Milan and join the presentation parade of the motorcycle, which will be attended by the Director of the Centro Stile Ducati Andrea Ferraresi.

The Ducati Diavel 1260 family, synonymous with style, innovation and performance, has won prestigious international design awards such as the “Red Dot Award” and the “Good Design Award”. We are really pleased to present this new version in Milan, a city that has always represented a world benchmark in this sector.” declared Andrea Ferraresi “The Diavel 1260 S “Black and Steel” is a bike that does not go unnoticed. Its asymmetrical graphics, the contrast between matt black, grey and touches of yellow have been designed to enhance the power, design and sportiness of this bike.”

Unconventional and unmistakable, the Diavel 1260 combines the performance of a maxi-naked with the ergonomics and comfort of a muscle cruiser. The beating heart of the bike is the 1262 cc Testastretta DVT engine that delivers 162 hp at 9,500 rpm with a flat and full-bodied torque curve, which allows scorching acceleration and at the same time offers regularity at low revs ideal for everyday use or touring. The chassis, characterized by the distinctive 240 mm rear tyre, guarantees surprising levels of handling and lean angles for the rider, combined with a good level of comfort.

The Diavel 1260 S “Black and Steel” joins the S version in Thrilling Black & Dark Stealth colour with red frame and black wheels. The standard version is available in Dark Stealth colour with black frame and black wheels.

On the Ducati.com website there is the  “Configurator” section which allows you to view the Diavel equipped with your favourite Ducati Performance accessories on the screen of your PC, tablet or smartphone and to share the customized version with the nearest dealer to book a test ride.
