Cardo Systems has announced that it has extended their cooperation with HARMAN to together continue setting the benchmark for premium audio quality for motorcycle communications systems. The broader collaboration between Cardo Systems and HARMAN will include new integrated JBL -produced and –branded speakers delivering superior audio experience to users of Cardo’s units world-wide.

A clever solution to an often tricky problem, the Wunderlich USB Charging Box uses BMW’s navigation mount to provide twin USB on-bike charging.
A true plug-n-play design, the USB Charging Box fits all BMW motorcycles prepared for the standard Navigator V and VI system. It simply plugs into the existing Navigator cradle, taking power from the mount contacts – no new wiring required, no additional ports to purchase, and no cutting holes in bodywork or fiddly brackets to fit.
Once in place the Box gives the rider the option of two standard USB ports – one USB 3.1 type A and one USB 3.1 type C – from which devices can be powered. Both ports meet the ‘Quick Charge’ QC 3.0 and QC 4.0 standards for rapid charging.
A handy blue LED light, located above the two USB slots, shows when the box is providing power.
The Box comes complete with four threaded sockets and screws, which allow the fitment of various mounting and navigation systems – like the popular Garmin Zumo XT – allowing both mounting and charging without additional brackets or cabling.
It’s made using a tough, hybrid material of recycled plastics, reinforced with glass fibres for durability. Once attached, the Box is locked in place, so it can’t be easily removed by thieves.
As you’d expect, it is splash and dust-proof, and when not in use elastomer covers seal the USB slots.

With the new Touratech handlebar mount, your motorcycle is equipped for the Garmin Tread. For adventure bikers, this opens up completely new possibilities for navigating in difficult terrain and for tracking when riding in a group.
Precise and robust: Touratech handlebar mounts
For over 25 years, Touratech GPS mounts have set the standard in motorcycling. These products, individually developed for each navigation device, are characterised by the best device protection for offroad use, effective vibration decoupling and maximum ease of use.
Now, there is also a Touratech handlebar mount perfectly matched to the Garmin Tread. Laser-cut and CNC-bent components made of aluminium and stainless steel are synonymous with highest precision. This is the only way to guarantee the completely backlash-free mounting of the navigation device, essential for ensuring a secure fit even on long track stages that cause strong vibrations and shocks. This protects not only the device itself but also the sensitive pins of the power supply in the perfectly integrated Garmin cradle.
The ingenious mechanism of the handlebar mount is modelled on the human hand, in its mode of operation, so that the device is securely enclosed on several sides. An additional locking device secures the device against theft.
The precise mechanics allow quick and gentle insertion or removal of the Garmin Tread.
The holder also includes a routing system for the Tread’s antenna. This allows the device to be optimally positioned in the driver’s field of vision without the antenna interfering with the line of sight.
The scope of delivery includes a clamp for 12-millimetre tubes. Alternatively, the Touratech handlebar mount can be combined with the RAM ball joint system supplied together with the Tread.

Originally designed for power sports, the Garmin Tread is an extremely robust and versatile navigation device that even the most demanding adventure riders will appreciate.
The Tread’s case is waterproof to IPX-7 standards and is designed to meet the stringent U.S. Military Standard 810 for thermal stress and shock resistance.
The 5.5-inch display can even be operated when wearing gloves and is perfectly legible in all light conditions, from glaring sunshine to pitch darkness at night.
In addition to the standard GPS navigation functions such as routing and track navigation, the Garmin Tread has a “Group Ride Tracker”. This allows you to track up to 20 riders in a group. Predefined messages can be exchanged between the participants via radio (VHF). Depending on the terrain, it covers a range of between one and 13 kilometres.
Topographic and street maps are available for navigation, and BirdsEye satellite images can also be downloaded to the device via WLAN. iOverlander POIs are preinstalled, enabling you to navigate to numerous remote and hard-to-find locations worldwide.
The free Tread app allows you to sync multiple devices including smartphones and computers. It also enables you to obtain weather data via your smartphone or listen to music.
Linking up to InReach emergency call systems is also possible.

Every motorcyclist will know that painful and numb feeling that can come from a long day riding. R&G-distributed Wild Ass air seat cushions feature unique design cues, to remove that discomfort, ensuring riders can comfortably ride all day. The innovative cushions help to spread the rider’s weight more evenly, eliminating painful pressure points and promoting blood circulation through adjustable, interconnected air cells.
Coming in a range of options, including the larger Smart style, the slim Sport style and the Pillion style, the collection is expanding with the new Saddle style. Ducati presents MG-20, the first folding e-bike in magnesium in the Ducati Urban e-Mobility line, developed under license by MT Distribution.
The new MG-20 is nimble and light. The sporting character of Ducati is underlined by its distinctive design, characterized by a fluid and aerodynamic profile, and by the sharp lines of the six-spoke rims, both made with a die-casting technique.
Frame, forks and rims are made of magnesium, a material that ensures lightness and solidity, thus providing maximum performance without affecting impact resistance. The small size of the wheels (20″ x 2.125″) and the possibility of easily folding the e-bike and pedals make MG-20 the ideal vehicle for urban travel, also convenient for combined use with public and private transport thanks to its minimum size.
The e-bike is equipped with a 250W rear motor capable of recognizing the road conditions, the slope and the force used in pedalling, providing the appropriate level of assistance depending on the riding mode selected. The 36V 10.5Ah 378Wh SAMSUNG battery is integrated into the frame and can be pulled out for more convenient charging. A full charge allows to travel up to 50 km, at a maximum speed of 25km/h, as per regulations.
Management of the main functions, such as switching on the lights and selecting between three levels of assistance (12-18-25 km/h), takes place via the waterproof LCD display. The front LED headlight and the reflective strips on the wheels ensure safer riding even at night.
The MG-20 will be available starting from July 2021 at dealerships and in the official Ducati e-shop, as well as in specialized consumer electronics stores and major online stores.

Internationally renowned custom house Bad Winners have released their new purpose designed ‘Motokit’ for the Royal Enfield 650 TWINS range. Crafted and produced by Bad Winners in their Parisian workshop, this kit has been specifically designed to fit the 650 Continental and 650 Interceptor.
Back in 2019 Bad Winners took up the challenge given to them by Royal Enfield to design and craft a unique custom bike based on the 650 Interceptor. While the order was for one unique custom build, it seemed the logical next step for Bad Winners to independently develop a replica Motokit version which could then be bought and self-assembled at home by any Royal Enfield Twins owner.
Bad Winners’ motivation behind the development of the MotoKit was to add elements of their own signature custom build style to optimize the style of the 650 Twins and refine the riding experience, while bringing a contemporary touch and a premium finish to both the Twins models that have already become timeless classics.
At the front of the motorcycle, a Renthal Streetbar has been installed and customised to accommodate six push buttons and an adaptive electronics box to connect to the vehicle’s original wiring loom. A discreet and elegant Tiny Speedo Motogadget replaces the original speedometer, as do new Oberon Performance mirrors. In a continued effort to sharpen the look, the front end of the vehicle was fitted with a Koso Thunderbolt headlight to enhance the bespoke headlight shell. The turn signals have been replaced and are cleverly placed in the Bad Winners headlight mounts.
It is, however, the rear of the vehicle that presents the most notable modifications. Without changing the overall geometry of the motorcycle, kit owners are directed to cut the original rear buckle in order to install a new one that will shorten the seat by 5cm. The seat, in imitation leather or real leather (optional), is also handmade by Bad Winners, as are the mudguard and plate holder that are included in the kit. The rear light has also been replaced by an LED system that fits into the extension of the seat.
The mechanical aspect of the vehicle has also been customised thanks to the Performance Kit and the Suspension Kit that optimize comfort and riding precision.
The Performance Kit offers a choice of three different exhausts: a pair of S&S slip ons, the S&S 2-in-1 exhaust system or a pair of Spark classic silencers. The air filter and holder have been replaced with an S&S filter. The kit also includes a Dynojet power commander with a pre-configured mapping to optimize the functioning of all the kit’s elements.
Finally, the front and rear suspensions have also been replaced. The front fork is equipped with a YSS upgrade kit, while we offer a choice of three different rear shocks: Bitubo rear shock, YSS Nitro rear shock or YSS Nitro cylinder rear shock.
This Motokit is available in 4 mini-kits: Front kit / Seat kit / Suspension kit / Performance kit. It is sold as a whole kit, but each mini-kit is also available individually. The custom parts that were developed for this project are also sold individually in the Bad Winners store.

Inside there is a waterproof pocket that allows you to store documents and personal effects and enjoy every curve in freedom.
The Flow C3 fabric jacket, designed by Drudi Performance exclusively for Ducati, is ideal for summer motorcycle rides. This garment is made of lightweight, breathable mesh and is available in both male and female versions. The interior incorporates Warrior lite protectors on the shoulders and elbows and can also accommodate the back protector. Thanks to the hook sewn on the back, the jacket can be combined with any trousers with belt loops, to prevent the back from remaining uncovered while riding. The Flow C3 jacket is also equipped with a detachable lining consisting of a breathable, water-resistant and windproof membrane.
Finally, Ducati offers its fans the Ducati Corse Tex Summer C2 , a fabric jacket with a lively design, born from the collaboration between the Borgo Panigale motorcycle manufacturer and Dainese. Made from a mix of mesh and lightweight fabric, the jacket is equipped with a removable inner windproof lining and is specially designed for hot-humid climates and for the summer season. The result is a highly ventilated garment, equipped with aluminium inserts on the shoulders, composite protectors on the elbows and designed to house the Wave or Manis G2 back protector.

With MyDucati App, the Borgo Panigale motorcycle manufacturer offers Ducatisti a tailor-made experience and privileged access to the Ducati universe.
In addition to the new section dedicated to maintenance, the app offers many other features. In the Garage area, owners can consult the documentation of their motorcycles at any time and always have the Ducati Card – the official document as a Ducatista – in their pocket. Here, enthusiasts can also configure the Ducati of their dreams, save it and share it with friends and their trusted dealer.

A motorcycle exhaust manufacturer has secured support from a programme helping businesses boost productivity and growth using digital tools
Fuel Exhausts, based in Kendal, is adopting additive manufacturing technology, including a 3D scanner, 3D printer and CAD software, to speed up the design and prototyping of new bike parts for its customers and new markets.
It is the latest business to sign up for support from the Made Smarter Adoption programme in the North West.
Damian and Louise Turner, Owners, said: “Over the last 20 years we have earned our position as a trusted exhaust brand.
“After operating in a traditional way, making everything from scratch and using very manual processes, we can see the opportunities new technology can create.”
Since 2019 Made Smarter has supported 161 businesses with £3.9M matched funding for 201 projects, leveraging £10.5M of private sector investment.
Some manufacturers are developing projects using emerging technologies which enable them to integrate systems, capture and analyse data, and even create simulations of their plants and processes. Others are using 3D-printing, automation, and robotics to solve business challenges and meet increased demand.
This transformative technology adoption is forecast to create 990 new jobs, upskill 1,845 existing roles, and deliver an additional £162.4M in gross value added (GVA) for the North West economy.
Donna Edwards, Programme Director for the Made Smarter Adoption programme in the North West, said: “Surpassing the milestone of 200 funded technology projects is a significant achievement for the Made Smarter adoption programme in the North West – and there is much more to come.
“Industry 4.0 is the future of manufacturing. Through it, the entire sector can reap endless rewards that will ultimately lead to considerable – and sustainable – growth. Over 80% of SMEs working with Made Smarter to adopt cutting-edge technologies have seen a boost in productivity, and more than 25% reduced their carbon emissions. Businesses will also benefit from increased revenue, profits and exports, and lower energy bills.

Organisers of the popular Ardingly Summer Classic Show & Bikejumble have confirmed that the event will go ahead as planned on Sunday 25th July, at The South of England Showground.
Club stands, plus individual entries for pre-1980 machines, are spread throughout five halls, alongside an all-motorcycle autojumble and trade stands, which offer visitors a vast array of new and used parts, accessories, clothing, tools and more. Additional stalls outside add to the variety on offer and ensure maximum browsing opportunities.
As well as the autojumble, specialist dealers and service providers exhibit at Ardingly and BikeMart returns, where members of the public can display complete, running machines for sale.
Held at the South of England Showground, between London and Brighton, the venue is easy to reach, only eight miles from junction 10 of the M23, and clearly sign-posted. The Showground is deemed ‘Good to Go’ by Visit England and the organisers have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that government guidelines are followed.
Show-goers are advised to purchase tickets in advance to guarantee entry, because numbers on site are currently limited and restrictions may still be in place. It will be possible to pay on the gate, by card or cash, subject to availability.
Gates open to the public from 10am on Sunday 25th July and tickets cost £7- for adults. Accompanied children under 16 get in for free.

Suzuki GB has announced limited availability of new Akrapovič slip-on silencers for it’s 2021 Hayabusa.
Just 20 are currently available from authorised Suzuki dealerships, with the aftermarket exhausts reducing weight by a total of 4kg and boosting power by 2kW, as well as enhancing the Hayabusa’s soundtrack.
The titanium silencers – which feature classy, laser-etched Akrapovič and Hayabusa logos – are capped with a carbon fibre tip, while the heat shield is also carbon fibre.
Akrapovič also supplies its exhaust-making expertise to Suzuki’s MotoGP team.
A pair of Akrapovič exhausts for the new Hayabusa come with an RRP of £2876.05 and either a three-year warranty when fitted at point of sale, or two-year warranty if fitted later. If fitted at the point of purchase they can also be included in any finance agreement, spreading the cost over monthly repayments.
Other accessories available for the new Hayabusa include the pillion seat cowl – which completes the iconic silhouette – a stylised seat, heated grips, and billet brake and clutch levers.
After its popular re-introduction in 2018, Honda’s iconic Monkey gets a brand-new air-cooled engine for 2022, with 5-speed gearbox and EURO5 compliance. Two-stage springs for the dual rear shocks smooth the ride and a tubular steel rack is available as an official accessory.
Introduction
The Honda Monkey bike is perhaps most widely known as a groovy icon of the 1970s, but it first saw the light of day in 1961. Originally developed as a 49cc child’s plaything for Tama Tech, an amusement park in Tokyo, it proved so popular that a road-going version was developed, which was initially exported to America and Europe in 1963, with a distinctive chrome tank, folding handlebars and 5-inch diameter rigidly-mounted wheels.
Its popularity was based on a cute, instantly-likable design, tiny dimensions and ultra-light weight – which made it a whole load of fun around town. By 1969 its wheels had increased to 8-inch in diameter and from 1970 it gained even greater popularity, when the addition of quick-detach forks meant it would fit into the trunk of a small car.
By 1978 – a point that marked the start of real prime time for the Monkey – the bike had been re-styled with a teardrop style fuel tank, and became hugely popular with legions of RV (Recreational Vehicle) drivers in need of convenient transport to use once they were parked up. And this is where and when the cheeky Monkey really cemented its place in millions of hearts; with its 3-speed gearbox and centrifugal clutch (which needed no ‘traditional’ motorcycle skill to operate) it gave thousands of riders their first experience of twisting the throttle on a powered two wheeler.
Because it was so much fun, and so easy to ride, it did more to sell the concept of motorcycles to a wider public than perhaps any other machine. With its chunky tyres, mini-‘ape’ style handlebars, miniscule fuel tank and big, squashy seat the Monkey look is unmistakably of its time, but – just like the affection in which it is held – also timeless.

The Monkey has a new 124cc SOHC two-valve air-cooled engine (drawn from the MSX Grom) with 50mm bore, 63.1mm stroke and compression ratio of 10:0:1 Peak power of 6.9kW @ 6,750rpm with peak torque of 11Nm @ 5,500rpm.
And it’s an even easier Monkey to ride and have fun on. A new correcting plate manages the path of fresh air drawn in and feeds an intake duct inlet and connecting tube redesigned to smooth airflow. The shape of the airbox has also been revised to further support smooth airflow, promote torque output and improve drivability. For EURO5 compliance the revised catalyser, while smaller, deals with spent gasses efficiently. The downpipe length has been altered to match the intake changes, while the muffler goes from a three-chamber to one-chamber design to improve performance and create a characterful exhaust note.
The new 5-speed gearbox, replacing the older 4-speed, spreads the gear ratios further apart to improve longer journey performance and provide a more relaxed cruising ability. Top speed is 91km/h. Manual clutch operation imparts a full-sized motorcycle experience while 12-inch wheels deliver agile around-town response. Naturally, the Monkey’s small stature and assured low-speed balance allow it an easy passage through jammed traffic.
It’s also an economical engine, returning 1.5 litres/100km (WMTC mode) by using low-friction technologies, such as an offset cylinder and roller-rocker arm for the valve gear. Sophisticated PGM-FI guarantees highly efficient combustion.

The Monkey’s steel backbone frame is tuned for a suitable balance between rigidity and supple feel – perfect for the wide variety of conditions the machine is designed to be ridden in. Oval in cross-section, the swingarm echoes the circular design theme that runs through the bike.
USD front forks employ 100mm travel and wear a premium Alumite finish. The dual rear shocks now feature two-stage springs and revised damper rubbers, for improved ride quality on bumper roads and reduced bottoming. They have 102mm of axle travel; maximum ground clearance is 175mm.
A single 220mm front disc and 190mm rear provide secure stopping performance, managed by the IMU-based ABS. Fat, block pattern tyres make for a smooth ride and are sized 120/80-12 65J front and 130/80-12 69J rear.
Wheelbase is set at 1,145mm with rake and trail of 25°/82mm and a minimum turning radius of just 1.9m. Wet weight is 104kg, with a seat height of 775mm. The plush seat is made of high-density urethane for maximum comfort.
Classic Monkey style (mini-ape handlebars, chromed mudguards, upswept exhaust with stamped heat shield, chunky tyres, padded seat and ‘peanut’ tank) pays loyal homage to the original and provides all the cues required to chime both with those of a certain age, and a much younger generation.
Older riders connect to a certain ‘70s irreverence – maybe matched to a memory of their first feel of motorcycling freedom – innate in the design while newer riders, already turned on to all things retro, get both that and something undeniably funky to set them apart from their friends. One thing that unites everybody, whether riding a Monkey or simply passing one by, is the ‘smile’ factor. It’s that sort of bike.
For 2022 a fittingly stylish tubular steel rear carrier is available as an official accessory – usefully suitable for heavier loads of up to 3.0kg. The glossy 5.6L fuel tank, finished in the same paint colour as the frame, swing arm and rear shocks, proudly wears a historical 3-D Classic Wing design Honda logo.

Introduction
The very first Super Cub C100 was introduced in 1958, Honda’s 10th year of existence. Created by Soichiro Honda and his long-time business partner Takeo Fujisawa, its stated aim was straightforward: ‘to provide the joy of playing a useful part in people’s lives’.
Nearly 60 years later, in 2017, the 100 millionth Super Cub was built, cementing its status as the most popular motor vehicle the world has ever seen. Along the way the Super Cub’s simple attributes of unique styling, reliability, frugality and sheer usability have never gone out of fashion. And it has quietly achieved exactly what Soichiro and Takeo wanted: to get people mobile and keep them mobile.
Up to late 2018 the Super Cub series had only been available in Japan, where it has long been popular with business users including the Japanese Post Office, and in South East Asia, where it retains an important role in people’s lives as private transport. Well aware of the number of urban European riders – across a wide range of age demographics – who look for credible retro-inspired machinery and head-turning style, Honda unveiled the Super Cub 125 in 2018 as a modern evolution of the legendary name, marking a new chapter in its long history.
For the 2022 year model, the Super Cub 125 receives further advances for its European audience. The timeless look is unchanged, but a brand-new EURO5-compliant engine and host of improvements drive it on, just as Soichiro and Takeo would have wanted.

A new air-cooled SOHC engine design, with ECU setting, intake and exhaust to match, gains the Super Cub 125 EURO5 compliance. It produces slightly more power, and is more efficient, returning fuel economy of 1.5 litres/100km (WMTC mode). The ACG output is also uprated.
The classic styling is unchanged, and standard-fit pillion seat and footpegs are now added. Revised spring rates for front and rear suspension smooth the ride on rougher city streets.

Efficient and durable, the Super Cub 125’s new 124cc air-cooled engine combines the bottom-end (with re-designed crankcases) of the current Japanese-market C110 with the SOHC two-valve cylinder head and top-end of the latest MSX Grom. Bore is set at 50mm, stroke at 63.1mm with compression ratio of 10.0:1. Peak power of 7.2kW (a 0.1kW increase) arrives @ 7,500rpm, with peak torque of 10.4Nm @ 6,250rpm.
Smoothing airflow on the clean side, the new airbox, designed to match the new engine, is smaller and combines with the new connecting tube and new injector position to improve driveability.
The outward appearance of the muffler – one of the many elements of the Super Cub’s ‘mythology’ – stays the same while the internals are re-worked; two catalysers were in place on the previous engine but, with the gain in combustion efficiency for EURO5 compliance, a single, more efficient catalyser is used. The ECU has new programming to maximise performance and efficiency and the Alternating Current Generator (ACG) output increased.
The gearbox remains a 4-speed unit (with neutral at the bottom) and – in true Super Cub tradition – is operated via ‘automatic’ centrifugal clutch, without the need for a clutch lever. At standstill the rider simply selects the gear required with the left hand foot lever and, as the throttle is opened, the clutch operates automatically and does so through each ratio change, up or down. Final drive ratio is 2.50 with 14T drive and 35T driven sprockets. A helical primary gear reduces ‘mechanical’ noise.
The Super Cub C125 engine returns amazing fuel economy – 1.5litres/100km (66.7km/l) (WMTC mode) giving a range of approx. 250km from the 3.7 litre fuel tank.

The Super Cub 125’s time-tested, evocative styling – defined instantly by the leg-guards and fully enclosed mechanical parts – remains unchanged, and is a design with one word in mind: ‘universality’. In other words, it has to be easy for a wide range of people to use. A key part of this ethos is the laid-forward ‘S-shaped silhouette’ which runs from the step-through space to rear mudguard, making access on and off easy. New for the 2022 year model is the addition of a pillion seat and foot pegs as standard equipment.
Also instantly recognisable as Super Cub is the ‘unit’ steering, which unifies the separate elements – forks, handlebars and leg shields – into one cohesive whole. On the original machine the handlebars, shaped to be like the wings of a bird, were a tactile and welcoming sales point and the modern day Super Cub C125 with its forged, tapered handlebar wrapped in curvaceous moulded resin incorporating the switchgear and instruments, pays loyal homage to the original.
The grips are placed in a natural, easy-to-hold position and complement the straight-backed riding position, which gives excellent all-round visibility. Aiding comfort, the seat uses thick, high-density urethane foam. It is also cut back on both sides up front, helping ground reach.
All lighting is contemporary LED while the instruments highlight the depth of the overall design with two lenses separated by dual chrome rings. The outer ring houses the sweep of the analogue speedometer’s needle plus warning lights; the inner an understated digital display.
A modern finishing touch is the Honda Smart Key which also controls the immobiliser as an extra theft deterrent, and is equipped with an ‘answer back’ function whereby the indicators will ‘blink’ at the push of a button to make finding the vehicle easy in busy parking areas. And, with a nod to its forebears (and underlining its place in Honda’s history) a historical 3D ‘Classic Wing’ logo crowns the Smart Key fob.
Fun, easy handling has always been another Super Cub strength. To this end, the tubular steel ‘backbone’ frame has a rigidity balance carefully tuned around the headstock and between the engine mounting points, to optimise performance for the 124cc engine; the redesigned engine crankcases have new mounting hangers. Both handlebars and seat are rubber mounted and the footpegs also feature rubber inserts.
Rake and trail are set at 26.5°/71mm with wheelbase of 1,245mm. Wet weight is 110kg. 100mm travel telescopic forks feature new springs improving control; the twin rear shocks (matched to body colour) also use new springs and bump-stop material for a smoother ride on bumpy roads, while elegant 17-inch die-cast aluminium wheels (with machined rims and spokes) add stability and steering precision. Tubeless tyres are fitted, sized 70/90-17 front and 80/90-17 rear.
A 220mm front disc brake and single-piston caliper are matched by a 110mm rear drum.

Unsurprisingly, over six decades of production, the Super Cub has some remarkable stories and achievements behind it. Here are just fifteen:
The first prototype wasn’t drawn out on paper, but using a clay model, into which Mr. Honda himself had strong input, using some ideas from a fact-finding trip to Europe in 1956.
The first 1958 Super Cub C100’s low-floor backbone frame (for easy step-through), large leg shields (for protection from dust from unpaved roads), fully ‘enclosed’ bodywork (to hide the engine and harnesses), seagull-inspired handlebar shape and sky-inspired blue fairing laid down a universal template for decades to come.
The size 17 inch wheels (relatively large in order to handle Japan’s uneven road surfaces) were designed and made exclusively for the Super Cub.
It has always used a four stroke engine – even from its first 1958 incarnation.
It had to avoid the need for a clutch lever so a delivery rider could ride one-handed with a stack of Soba noodle boxes on his left shoulder.
Honda’s Suzuka factory was built in 1960 to help meet the demand for the hit product.
The Super Cub has been produced in 16 factories across 15 different countries, and sold in 160 different countries.
The Super Cub went on sale in the USA in 1959, with a sticker price of just $295. It took west coast surfing youth by storm and paved the way for much bigger things for Honda in America.
The first European production of Super Cub started in Honda Belgium (the second ‘overseas’ factory to product the vehicle).
It also starred in the ‘You meet the nicest people on a Honda’ ad campaign that changed the American perception of motorcycles away from being vehicles associated mainly with ‘biker gangs’.
The Beach Boys made it even more famous in 1964 with their song ‘My Little Honda’.
Also introduced to South Asia in 1964 the Super Cub became prized family transport that neatly dealt with the overwhelming traffic of the ever-growing major cities.
The Japanese Patent Office awarded it a 3D trademark registration in 2014, recognising its shape and design as an iconic Honda product, and making it the first vehicle to achieve this status.
Original sales were projected to be possibly 30,000 a month, which was amazing at the time as total motorcycle production in Japan was around 40,000 units a month, but something of an underestimate in the end.
In typical, low-key Super Cub way on October 29th, 2017 a commemorative ceremony was held at Honda’s Kumamoto factory to mark worldwide production of 100 million units.

The Honda C125 Super Cub and Monkey 125 are returning to Honda’s European line-up. With brand-new air-cooled engines that feature EURO5 compliance, comfort-focussed chassis improvements and striking new colours, two of Honda’s most enduring icons are set to continue putting smiles on the faces of their European customers.
The Honda Super Cub, the world’s best-selling motor vehicle – having sold in excess of 100 million units worldwide since 1958 – now benefits from a new, more powerful SOHC air- cooled engine that produces outstanding fuel economy of 1.5L/100km (WMTC mode). The deft- handling Super Cub is fully at home in busy city streets, and, to match the engine improvements, has improved rider comfort thanks to suspension changes that smooth out the urban ride.
The iconic ‘S’ shaped Super Cub styling remains and now features a pillion seat and rear footpegs as standard alongside full LED lighting. This year this style is elevated by a brand-new Mat Axis Grey Metallic colour scheme, which in true ‘Cub style, is topped off with classic red seats that pays homage to the 1958 original.
Re-joining the Super Cub in Honda’s 2022 year model European line-up is the loveable Monkey. After its popular reintroduction in 2018 as a useful, fun motorcycle fit for 21st Century living, the Monkey now benefits from a new EURO5 compliant engine that returns peak power of 6.9kW and 11Nm of torque alongside excellent fuel economy of 1.5L/100km. With a potential range of over 370km from its 5.6L tank, a larger 5 speed gearbox has also been added to make longer journeys more enjoyable.
A key part of the Monkey’s success has been the friendly handling provided by its combination of steel frame, chunky 12in ‘block’ tyres and high-quality USD forks. Ride quality has been further improved with new two stage dual rear shocks designed to better deal with rougher road surfaces.
Of course, the classic Monkey style of old returns. Mini-ape handlebars, chromed mudguards, upswept exhaust, large padded seat combined with the chunky tyres and peanut shaped tank to make its silhouette unmistakable. This year the classic Banana Yellow and Pearl Nebula Red colour schemes are joined by a brand-new Pearl Glittering Blue to further emphasise the fun factor and continue the Monkey’s legacy as the fun motorcycle that began in 1961 with its introduction in Japan as an amusement park ‘runaround’.
