Protect Your Shock With R&G and Shocktube®

The rear shock is one of the most important (and expensive!) parts of a modern motorcycle and yet it is highly exposed to damage and road debris. Distributed by R&G, Shocktube prevents damage from road salt, water spray and stone chipping, protecting this key component for a substantially extended period of time.

The effects from road debris such as salt, water spray and stone chipping, are detrimental to the exposed rear shock absorber and over time can result in its premature failure or, at worst, an accident. The R&G-distributed Shocktube provides riders with peace of mind, protecting against these factors to substantially extend the life of the shock absorber.

Shocktube is a high-impact, waterproof, vented tube that is made from top quality, bonded 100% CR Neoprene™ which is double lined with stretch nylon on both sides. Capable of being quickly fitted to most motorcycles with monoshock or twin shock systems, without the need to remove the shock, Shocktube completely encloses the absorber and spring. View it being fitted to a Kawasaki ZX-10R here.

Bruce Smart, solo round the world motorcyclist better known as TeapotOne, used Shocktube on his 100,000-mile journey, “I’ll admit, when I first got it I did think to myself, “Do I really need this?” but fast forward a year and I couldn’t live without it. I’d put the bike through every imaginable test and weather condition and the rear shock hadn’t let me down once – even after a bang so severe it cracked my rear sub-frame! I really can’t recommend it enough, it’s so easy to fit and absolutely no hassle to live with.”

R&G Joins Forces With Scorpion Exhausts to Become Sub Distributor!

Having already sold exhaust systems to the general public, R&G is excited to announce it has strengthened its partnership with fellow British brand Scorpion, becoming a sub-distributor and offering the Derbyshire-based Company’s products direct to the UK trade.

Explaining the rationale behind the move, R&G’s Managing Director, Simon Hughes, said “While Scorpion has its famous core of “Red Power Centres”, there is always call for ad hoc ordering from other non-Scorpion account holders.  For example, a dealer may carry a different exhaust brand but wish to service a customer who specifically asks for a Scorpion end can or system.  We will hold stock, and as most UK dealers hold an account with R&G, we can provide a very useful additional service, as we do with other performance products already, such as BMC, SpeedAngle etc.”

Synonymous with innovative and performance-driven products, Scorpion is a perfect accompaniment to R&G’s range of race-driven products.  R&G has already been working with Scorpion, making bespoke exhaust hangers for the needs of teams backed by both Companies – namely Quattro Plant Kawasaki and Team WD-40.  There are also plans afoot for R&G to offer back-up to Scorpion-clad teams in the BSB race paddock in 2016, using the R&G mobile unit which is present at every round.

Commenting on the partnership, Stuart Reid, of Scorpion, said “We’re very proud that our two elite British brands are working together in this official capacity and are sure that consumers, dealers and racers alike will benefit from the closer association”.

R&G Launches Range of Boot Guards

Made from the same material as R&G’s popular Tank Traction Grips, the new range of R&G Boot Guards are specifically designed to protect swingarms and frames from boot scuffs.

The unique material has been developed to be durable, providing the rider with a protective buffer between the boot and the exposed areas of the swingarm or frame. This is a key area which frequently comes into contact with the rider during cornering, causing wear and unwanted damage to the swingarm, frame and boot.

Each R&G Boot Guard kit is supplied with precision pre-cut adhesives, typically in either two or four pieces, depending on the shape of the swingarm or frame. The high-strength adhesive backing ensures the highly durable product will remain exactly where it is placed, not affecting or damaging the paintwork.

Each kit also includes a 25mm-diameter, round sticker which sits in a pre-cut space on one of the component guards on each side. A cleaning wipe is also supplied to make sure the surface the Boot Guard is sticking to is clean prior to adhesion, ensuring it does not peel off.

R&G also offers universal kits for using where there is no bespoke application listed. These kits can consist of a sheet to be cut by the customer, or pre-cut, shaped sheets which can be applied straight onto the bike.

BMC Filters Flow Through R&G

Crash Protection leader exclusive UK Importer for BMC Air Filters

·       R&G exclusive distributor for BMC Air Filters for bikes
·       Performance upgrade filter for road and race machines
·       Established in Italy and made there since 1973
·       Offers in Street, Race and Carbon Racing filtration
·       Huge range of fitments
·       Serviceable – lasts as long as the machine

R&G has become the exclusive UK importer of BMC Air Filters for bikes.

The Italian brand, established in 1973, has a huge range of motorcycle performance air filter products, in both road and race variants, both giving improvements on filter efficiency against standard items as well as increasing machine performance, even when compared against other notable brands, and is used by the Factory Yamaha MotoGP team, among many others.

BMC filters, ranging from £40 – £350, are constructed with a multi-layered cotton gauze, soaked in low-viscosity oil and covered with an epoxy-coated alloy mesh to ensure protection from petrol fumes and oxidisation due to air humidity. The filter increases machine performance by allowing more air through, but with increased and finer filtration compared to a standard paper item – 7 microns compared to 10 microns. The filter frames are made from a single mould without welded joints, thus avoiding easy breakage over time.

Fitting a BMC filter is also more cost-effective over time for riders, as they do not have to be replaced at service intervals, like standard paper items. The filter can be regenerated with a simple washing and re-oiling procedure, which also reduces waste for the environment.

Three products are offered: Street, Race and Carbon Racing Filters (CRF). The Street and Race items are similar in that they are a direct replacement in terms of fit for a standard filter and increase performance and airflow. Identified by an orange line inside the filtering body, the Race item takes airflow to a higher level for performance track machines where outright filtration isn’t absolute. Starting at £259, the stunning CRF goes a further step with a super-lightweight carbon fibre filter support structure.

R&G, the official crash protection supplier to the 2015 MCE British Superbike Championship, also distributes the SPARK range of performance exhausts, so the addition to this performance product is a perfect fit.

BMC products will be available through selected R&G stockists in-store across the UK.
