Women’s motorcycling gear has come a long way in the last few years and it is great to see that more brands are paying attention to what women want.

Protection on our motorcycles is high on our priority list and a proper fit ensures good protection. We also want to look good in our motorcycling gear and not wear men’s fitting clothing with added swirls and bits of pink and call it women’s gear.

Comfort is also high on the list, I suspect for both, male and female riders. Having the gear that is uncomfortable can spoil the ride.

With the change in the seasons and warmer weather arriving a pair of motorcycle leggings is the go-to choice of clothing after ditching the bigger and bulkier winter textiles. I love them because they are so comfortable and simple. No faffage with thermal or waterproof layers, just a pair of trousers that fit like a second skin then you forget about them. Perfect for summer riding.

Weise Pulse leggings are great. They offer protection as well as a good fit. The leggings have two layers, the inner one is aramid fibre lining and the top one is stretch cotton and polyester mix. They are CE approved and AA rated which is the second-highest level of protection and the leggings are fitted with knee and hip armour.

The inner layer ends just at the top of the calf which means there is only one layer in your boots and therefore negating any potential uncomfortable bulking of the material inside your boots.

The waist is cut high with a thick band that keeps them in place and there is no rolling of the top. I would have liked it slightly higher on the back, especially for the sportier ride where you lean forward. Belt hoops would have been useful too, as I found they did slide down a little bit.

I am usually size medium or in between 10 and 12 in most trousers and I ordered the leggings in size 12 (medium). They were too big all over, the waist was standing away from me and there was too much material around my bum and thigh area. The size 10 (small) ones are a much better fit with no sagging of the outer layer and the armour stays in place. Also, the waistband now sits snugly against me.

The two waist pockets at the front are deep enough to safely tuck in small items without fear of losing them.

Time will tell how well they keep their colour after a few washes as black is usually difficult to keep dark when you are riding in the sun and washing the leggings regularly.

All in all a great pair of motorcycle trousers to keep you safe, looking good and incredibly comfortable.

Weise Choice For Fastest Road Rider

Peter Hickman made 2018 a year to remember at the Isle of Man TT, winning a sensational Senior race and setting a new outright lap record – the first ever 135mph+ lap of the Mountain Course.

His ‘n’ hers – Weise winter trousers

Weise has added textile riding trousers for men and women to its range, offering the features and flexibility needed to deal with changeable autumn and winter conditions.

Both the men’s Nemesis and women’s Luna are made from 600 Denier material, with a waterproof, windproof and breathable drop liner and 120-gram thermal quilted lining to keep out the cold and wet.

When the temperature rises, the quilted liner can be quickly and easily removed. Zipped vents on each thigh allow a cooling airflow.

Weise Choice For Summer Gloves

Weise® has two new summer glove options in its 2017 collection, one tailor-made for taking on the twist and turns, and the other for kicking back and cruising.

Designed with the sports rider in mind, Weise Renegade gloves are made from full-grain leather, selected from the strongest and most durable part of the hide. With twin overlay on the palm, integrated TPU reinforcement armour to knuckles and fingers and padded panels on each cuff, these are race specification gloves.

A lightweight polyester lining, coupled with the natural breathability of the leather and a perforated section on wrist, keeps hands cool and free from perspiration.

Both wrist and cuff are elasticated and secured with Velcro® for a snug fit, and to help keep the gloves firmly in place. Stretch panels on the fingers and above the knuckles aid dexterity. Silicon prints on the palm help the rider keep a firm grip on the bars.

Weise Dakar Adventure Jacket and Trousers

New from Weise®, the Dakar Adventure Jacket and Trousers are built to handle the wide variety of conditions experienced in overland travel.

Weather protection is provided by a waterproof drop liner, 120-gram thermal lining and winter neck guard, all of which can be removed as conditions improve.

When the temperature rises, large panels at the chest and back can be unzipped and stowed away, revealing large vents. These work with long, two-way zipped vents that run from the cuff to the top of the arm, to maximise air flow.

The Dakar Jacket is also hydration pack prepared, with a rear pocket and drinking tube outlet, so the rider can keep fluid levels topped up on the move.

Level 2 CE-approved protectors at the shoulders and elbows provide top-of-the-range impact protection. Produced from highly flexible Elastofoam®, the low-profile protectors curve to fit the wearer, for a comfortable unobtrusive fit. A CE-approved back protector is fitted too.

A selection of external and internal pockets, plus a removable large rear map pocket/bum-bag, offer plenty of flexibility for carrying smaller items.
