New Outlast Houston from Weise

“Hello Houston”

New from Weise® for 2017, the Outlast® Houston is a fully-armoured waterproof jacket, with a removable temperature-regulating lining for optimal thermal comfort, whatever the weather.

The jacket’s tough, tear-resistant rip-stop outer has a waterproof/breathable lining, which is sealed by a YKK® central zip, with a popper and Velcro® storm flap that provides reliable weather protection.

Vents on the arms, chest and back allow plenty of cooling air to flow through in the heat, while the Outlast lining regulates body temperature, helping to reduce the warm-up/chill-down cycle often experienced when riding on colder days.

Originally developed for NASA, Outlast technology utilises phase change materials (PCM) that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort. Outlast technology is comparable to ice in a drink; as it changes from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and cools the drink, keeping that drink at the desired temperature for longer. Outlast phase change materials work in the same way, but are micro-encapsulated, so they are permanently enclosed in a polymer shell. These micro-encapsulated phase change materials are known as Thermocules™.

All-round impact-protection is provided by CE-approved armour at shoulders, elbows and back.

Weise have provided plenty of pockets, too – both inside and out – including a large rear map pocket.

The Outlast Houston is covered by the Weise 2-year no-quibble warranty and comes in sizes small – 5XL in Black and sizes medium – 3XL in Black/Stone, retailing for £159.99 including VAT.

Legendary protection from Weise gloves

Weise® have added two gloves to their range, both of which are CE-approved.

Named after the legendary Roman twins, Romulus and Remus join the handful of riding gloves that have passed the stringent testing for EN13594:2014 – “Protective gloves for motorcycle riders”.

Gloves are tested for abrasion-resistance, restraint (to assess the likelihood of the glove coming off the rider’s hand during an accident) and integrity (measuring the strength of seams or joints). Dexterity is also appraised, to ensure that the rider can still operate controls easily while wearing them, and there is even a durability test.

In addition, both Romulus and Remus pass the optional impact protection test for knuckle armour, as denoted by KP on the label.

ROMULUS

Designed with the touring rider in mind, Romulus are made from tough, yet supple, full-grain leather, and are unlined to maximise feel and feedback through the handlebars.

Twin leather overlay on the palms provides extra abrasion protection and, to guard against impact, there is carbon shell armour on the fingers, thumbs and knuckles.

Both the cuffs and wrist are secured with Velcro for a snug fit and to help keep the gloves firmly in place in the event of a slide.

Romulus come in black, sizes S-3XL, priced £74.99 including VAT.

REMUS

The short-cuff Remus are as equally at home on a sports or naked bike as they are on a retro, cruiser or scooter.

Like the Romulus, they’re full grain leather, which is perforated on the back of the hand and thumb to let in the cool air and allow heat and perspiration to escape.

The short cuff also fits comfortably under the wrist-fastenings of most riding jackets.

TPU reinforcements to knuckles, fingers and thumb, plus a twin leather overlay on the palm, provide all-round protection for the hand and peace of mind for the rider.

The Velcro-retained strap to the cuff makes sure the protection stays where it’s needed.

Weise Remus also come in black, sizes S-3XL, and cost £69.99 including VAT.

Notes: prEN13594 2014 “Protective gloves for motorcycle riders” will replace the original EN 13594:2002 regulation, and widens its application to include not only gloves for professional use, but also all those used in motorcycle sports.

Weise Clifton And Docklands Vintage Style Jackets

New to the Weise® range for 2016, the Clifton and Docklands jackets are made for riders who want vintage style combined with modern safety and comfort.

With a tough, 500-Denier outer shell and CE-approved armour at the shoulders, elbows and back, the Clifton Textile Jacket offers significantly more impact resistance than the ‘traditional’ wax cotton riding jackets that inspired it.

It’s also designed to do a much better job at protecting the wearer from the elements, with a waterproof, windproof and breathable drop liner and a removable fleece inner, too.

A fully adjustable waist belt, plus a buckle fastened-collar, seal out the elements and offer plenty of adjustment for a snug fit. A sliding fabric cover built into the waist belt prevents the buckle from scratching fuel tanks/bodywork.

There are plenty of pockets – four generously-sized ones on the outside, as well as two hand-warmer pockets and internal ones. Branding is kept to a minimum – just a subtle, embroidered Weise logo on the left-hand waist pocket. The classic look is finished off with brass-coloured poppers on the storm flap, pockets and cuffs, and stitch detailing on each shoulder.

The Clifton comes in men’s sizes S-5XL at a very retro retail price of just £159.99.

The Docklands Leather Jacket also offers the best of both worlds, being made from tough yet flexible natural-milled cowhide with CE-approved armour throughout, including the back. The leather has an antique brown finish with padded detailing on the shoulders and elbows plus brass fasteners for an authentic vintage look.

With zipped pockets on the chest and inside, the Docklands provides practical carrying space and there are two hand warmer pockets as well. Quality YKK® vintage-styled zips are used throughout, including on the cuffs, which are secured with popper fastenings. The collar is fastened by a traditional buckle, which is adjustable to allow for a neck warmer or scarf, and has a soft lining for added comfort.

The Docklands has a retail price tag of just £199.99 and is available in sizes S-3XL.

Weise Lima gloves have the fit, feel and features for winter

A new addition to the extensive range of gloves from Weise®, the Lima has the fit, feel and features of a top-of-the-range winter glove, but with an affordable price tag.

Top of the must-have list for the year-round rider is to be warm, dry and comfortable, so the Lima features a waterproof, windproof and breathable inner liner and a 40-gram Thinsulate™ thermal layer too. Working together, they act a barrier against wind and rain, insulate from the cold and allow perspiration to escape.

Genuine 3M Thinsulate™ is soft and compressible, making it flexible enough for gloves, which are difficult to insulate effectively without restricting movement or compromising fit. Stretch panels to top of hand and top of fingers are also a feature, enhancing fit and flexibility.

Velcro® adjustment at the cuff and an elasticated wrist section ensure a snug fit under or over winter riding jackets, and help to prevent cold air and rain sneaking in through gaps.

The full grain leather and textile combination construction is tough & durable, with integrated reinforcement at the knuckles, TPU shell armour and double-layered leather at key impact points

Reflective detailing for added visibility in low light tops off the Lima’s impressive spec.

Weise Lima gloves come in sizes S-3XL and retail for just £49.99 including VAT.

Brace yourself for Weise Marin Trousers

New from Weise®, Marin Trousers are adaptable to both the rider and the elements, thanks to their braces and quilted liner, both of which are removable.

Designed to cope with unpredictable weather, Marin trousers are made from a 600 denier textile, with a waterproof, windproof and breathable drop liner. In cold conditions, a thermal quilted liner keeps the legs insulated, while the raised back section at the waist helps stop draughts sneaking in between trousers and jacket. When the temperature rises, the quilted liner can be removed and zipped vents on the thighs can be opened, allowing cool air to circulate.

Removable and adjustable braces help to stop the trousers from slipping down, preventing wind and rain from seeping in around the waist, while an adjustable Velcro® retained twin belt system ensures a snug and secure fit.

Impact protection is provided by CE-approved armour at the knees. To aid flexibility and movement, there are stretch panels above and behind the knee as well as the inner leg and there are two concealed external waist pockets with zipper closure so that daily essentials are easy to carry.

Weise® Marin Trousers are available in sizes S-5XL at a retail price of just £99.99.

Control your climate with new Outlast clothing from Weise

The new range-topping, four-season Outlast® Baltimore jacket from Weise incorporates a removable quilted liner made with climate control technology for comfort in all conditions.

Originally developed for NASA, Outlast® is a unique material that absorbs, stores and releases heat, actively regulating the body’s micro-climate. As the body warms up, the heat is absorbed, keeping the wearer cool; as the wearer begins to cool down the heat is then released, to keep the body warm. This active control reduces temperature swings (the heat-up/chill down cycle) often experienced when riding in varying temperatures and conditions. And unlike many other technical fabrics found in motorcycle clothing, which manage moisture by wicking perspiration away from the skin, Outlast® works to prevent perspiration before it begins, keeping the wearer dry and reducing the risk of feeling cold due to evaporation.

The Baltimore jacket has a tough 500 Denier outer shell with full venting and 5-point CE protection (shoulders, elbows and back). Inside is a removable REISSA® waterproof and breathable drop lining and, for added safety in low light conditions, there are retractable neon covers incorporated into the sleeves.

Available in sizes S-5XL in Black or Black/Stone, the Outlast® Baltimore from Weise retails for £319.99 including VAT.

Riders can pair the Outlast® Baltimore with the new Outlast® Strada or Outlast® Diablo gloves, for complete climate control. Both are a mix of leather and textile, with Hipora breathable waterproof membranes and TPU armour over the knuckles. The Outlast® Strada sells for £89.99 and the Outlast® Diablo £99.99, in sizes S – 3XL.

All Weise products are covered by a no-quibble two-year warranty. For full specifications of the above and details on the complete range of Weise motorcycle clothing and accessories, call the Key Collection on 0117 971 9200 or visit www.thekeycollection.co.uk.

Beneath the outer shell is a McTEX waterproof, windproof and breathable lining, plus a THINSULATE 200 gram lining to the back of hand for maximum insulation. However, the palm is insulated with a 60 gram THINSULATE lining, giving the wearer better feel for the motorcycle’s controls.

The inner linings are held in place with the McFIT system, which attaches them without stitching, helping them stay firmly in place without uncomfortable seams, twisting or pulling free.

Secured with a Velcro retained strap to the wrist, the Runway has an inner storm cuff and a pull cord to outer cuff to protect against water running down the sleeve and into the glove.
