Moto Guzzi V85 TT

Almost a century of tradition, passion, and significant commercial and sporting success; almost a century of magnificent motorcycles all built in Mandello del Lario, combining the best technologies with first-rate Italian manufacturing techniques: Moto Guzzi values since 1921.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT is created in keeping with this strong identity, skilfully balancing that classic, evocative style with cutting-edge technical equipment. The new Moto Guzzi reflects a construction philosophy in which simplicity, practicality and lightness make for an unfiltered relationship between motorcycle and rider.

Travelling to live, the V85 TT is an adventure every day

V85 TT is dedicated to adventurous trips, a long-standing Moto Guzzi tradition, in their purest and most original form, the likes of which conjure up images of desert competitions such as the Paris-Dakar. The famous African race was at its peak as the 1980s dawned… Taking centre stage was man, in his eternal struggle with nature and himself, on a journey to discover unexplored lands, alone, in complete harmony with his motorcycle. A compass, road book and watch were the only navigational tools with which to reach the final destination of Lac Rose, which remained just a dream for many. The goal was not just to compete, but to discover unique places, a value that V85 TT wants to reinstate.

In its travelling version, the V85 TT is a new and original proposal that combines stylistic features reminiscent of the golden age of motorbike adventures with the content and functionality of a modern touring enduro. V85 TT is dedicated to those who, while still dreaming of the Dakar, seek a motorcycle that can also inject adventurous spirit into the everyday journey.

Style: V85 TT is the Classic Travel Enduro

The fundamental concepts at the heart of the V85 TT project are simplicity, ease and practicality, values typical of those 80s enduro bikes that could be used for anything, from the daily commute to adventurous trips, yet also values that are gradually getting lost in an increasingly homologated market, where ranges favour significant size and weight. Moto Guzzi V85 TT achieves its ambitious goal of combining a style based on said values with the needs of a modern touring enduro. It is for this reason that it deserves to be crowned the first classic enduro dedicated to touring. Its design combines technology and functionality, with typical Moto Guzzi traits to ensure durability. The desire for simple shapes is clear: with no kind of fairing, the V85 TT is defined by the lines of its tank, its side panels and the front mudguard, as well as its brand-new sculpted 90° V twin engine of course.

Designed with proportions that are anything but prohibitive, accessible to riders of all sizes and experience, and narrow in girth to allow freedom of movement, the V85 TT ensures an optimal ride for rider and passenger. Comfort and usability are never compromised, for a motorcycle that is comfortable in two, even at full load. Air protection is ensured by a smoke Plexiglas windscreen, its shapes researched in the wind tunnel; the pair of handguards installed on the handlebar protect extremities against bad weather and the cold, helping to make the V85 TT the ideal companion in any season. The design of the 23-litre tank (able to guarantee mileage of over 400 km) harks back to the tradition of Moto Guzzi bikes kitted out for African raids and boasts some meticulously crafted details, such as the slots on the front section and the recesses just above the engine heads, which appear to be generated by the twin itself. Extensive research was carried out in defining the contact area with the seat, in order to ensure optimum riding comfort when seated and freedom of movement when standing during typical off-road riding. The seat is 830 mm from the ground, allowing feet to easily touch for optimum control when manoeuvring a stationary bike, also thanks to the compactness of the under body and an overall weight reduced to just 208 kg (dry weight). The riding position is erect, with relaxed back, legs that are barely flexed and correctly bent arms to effectively grip the wide variable section aluminium handlebars, for total control. Under the seat is a practical storage compartment. The high front mudguard and beautiful double front headlight are also in keeping with Moto Guzzi history, these stylish and functional solutions already present on the 1996 NTX 650 and the 1989 Quota 1000 respectively. Classic off-road style features (including fork stanchion protection, an exhaust system with high silencer and the aluminium engine sump guard) are combined with technologically cutting-edge elements, such as the TFT instrument cluster and the series of LED lights on the headlight with DRL that trace the shape of the Moto Guzzi eagle.

Chassis: for the utmost riding pleasure and ease

That Moto Guzzi ability to build superb chassis is once again confirmed with the V85 TT. Only the new Moto Guzzi can boast such a solid and precise front end as it enters a corner; only V85 TT is able to give the rider such a sense of control and safety while seeking excitement on the road. Much of this is down to the particular layout of the high resistance steel tubular frame, complete with beautiful rider footpeg support plates in die-cast aluminium (with removable rubber for off-road riding). As well as being completely new, it has no lower cradle, thus reducing weight while increasing engine clearance from the ground, essential when it comes to off-road riding. In pursuit of lightness, rationality and accessibility, it exploits the specific anchorage of the engine to create a rigid structure that restores precision and rigour on the road as well as robustness and the right feel for off-road riding. The rear part of the frame is designed to optimise load capacity and offer the passenger two wide and practical grab handles. A case can be mounted on the practical rear luggage rack, while optional panniers can be fastened to the sides, for significantly reduced lateral bulk.

Reduced longitudinal development of the new small block engine allows for a very long swingarm, for safe and intuitive riding. The new asymmetric unit in box-type aluminium features a curved left arm, for a very linear exhaust pipe design and a reduction of lateral bulk. The right arm of the swingarm houses the new shaft drive transmission. V85 TT is the only bike in its segment to use shaft drive transmission, prioritised over a chain drive because it makes no mess and requires no maintenance. The single shock absorber with variable stiffness spring allows for great progression, also thanks to its tilted position. Its lateral position also facilitates access to the hydraulic and spring pre-load adjustments, freeing up space in terms of the exhaust system layout and allowing for any panniers to be fitted more tightly to the bike. The suspension offers very generous wheel travel (equal to 170 mm for both wheels) for satisfying off-road use, thanks also to significant engine ground clearance of 210 mm (the engine protected by an aluminium sump guard), while also ensuring comfort on the road. The fork (with 41 mm stanchions) and shock with separate tank are both adjustable in terms of shock preload and hydraulic rebound. The braking system is of superior quality, comprising a double 320 mm steel front disc with two radial-mounted Brembo callipers with 4 opposed pistons, connected to the pump at the handlebar with metal trellis tubing. At the rear is a 260 mm steel floating calliper with 2 pistons. The unit is controlled by a multimap Continental ABS system that can be disabled at the rear wheel and that has dedicated front wheel calibration for the more demanding off-road stretches. The spoked wheels mount 17” and 19” tyres (respectively 150/70-17 and 110/80-19), measurements that will also satisfy off-road enthusiasts. For the same reason, Moto Guzzi V85 TT is available with both high performance road-going Metzeler Tourance Next tyres and the more grooved Michelin Anakee Adventure tyres suitable for off-road use.

A new engine, a future classic

The V85 TT introduces a new Moto Guzzi engine. Its configuration mirrors that of all Moto Guzzi bikes in production today: an air-cooled transverse 90° V twin with OHV distribution and two valves per cylinder, the pride and tradition of the Mandello Eagle. Engine capacity is 853 cc, thanks to a bore to stroke ratio of 84 x 77 mm. The most modern of all engines in the range, it can boast specific power of almost 100 HP/litre. Thanks to its complete new design and the use of materials generally destined for race bikes, such as titanium, the new “eight and a half” is able to deliver a maximum power of 80 HP, as well as an impressive maximum torque value of 80 Nm at 5,000 rpm, with 90% of the torque already available at 3,750 rpm, in keeping with the tradition of the Mandello twin, which has always offered excellent drive even at very low revs. This is the first Moto Guzzi small block engine that can easily reach 8000 rpm, an aspect that showcases its modern and exuberant nature.

The crankcase is the fruit of a new design and is stiffer, in order to fulfil its new role as a stress-bearing element in the frame, introducing new frame connections and strengthening elements in the connection area between the two crankcase halves. It also features a port to check the oil level in the lower crankcase half. Lubrication involves a semi dry sump, with two coaxial pumps, one tasked with oil delivery and the other with recovery that ensure excellent lubrication and do away with the need for an oil radiator, thus reducing the overall weight. The semi dry sump solution has all the advantages of dry sump engines, without the disadvantage of the encumbrance of the external oil reservoir, since sump itself carries out this function. The primary advantages are: less loss of power because of friction due to the interaction of the crank drive with the oil, lower maximum temperature reached by the oil and freedom of the bike to reach a greater lean or pitch angle without any lubrication problems, thereby allowing the reduction of the quantity of lubricant needed to ensure that the pump has correct draft in any situation. The oil circuit is entirely new, with one of the two pumps tasked with transferring the lubricant from the crank drive to the sump. The latter is reduced in size to increase ground clearance and allow for assembly of the protective aluminium under-sump. The whole crankshaft is new and, together with the piston rods, also new, allows for a reduction in weight of almost 30% with respect to other small block engines, upping throttle response speed while significantly reducing any vibration. The upper section of the twin engine is also totally new: in keeping with Moto Guzzi identity, OHV distribution with two valves per cylinder is retained, though the system and materials used are all new. Cylinders are of reduced height, while new and efficient oil passages and a fastening system to the reinforced crankcase ensure robustness and reliability. The heads have new mix entry ducts and links. One of the stand-out aspects of a Moto Guzzi engine is its distribution, complete with new aluminium roller cams and rocker arm pushrods. The use of 42.5 mm titanium intake valves, which weigh about half of those in steel, has allowed for a much more radical angle over stroke, all to the benefit of torque and maximum power. Lighter pistons are used, with 20 mm pins, as well as new head and plug covers that differ in shape, while the generator has been boosted. Engine control makes use of a single 52 mm throttle body, while with multimap Ride-by-Wire throttle control, a solution that allows for delicate and scrupulous control of valve opening, not only optimising overall efficiency for a smooth, rich delivery, but also decreasing fuel consumption. The new Moto Guzzi engine is in fact very frugal in terms of consumption: it has few components that absorb power (OHV distribution is one of the most frugal in terms of power absorption) and has no cooling circuit pump or long drive chains or belts.

Significant work has been done on the dogbox to make it more smooth and precise. The gearbox and clutch housing make for increased ground clearance; the dry clutch exploits a reinforcement disc under the clutch plate as well as a new, higher performance clutch disc; a triple ring system is also introduced for the first time: a type of synchronisation that reduces gear noise and gearbox play to a minimum, particularly that of first gear. The ratios are new. The gears gain flexible coupling, for even smoother final transmission at the PTO shaft, this too strengthened. Lastly, the swingarm housing zone has been stiffened and features bearings capable of withstanding high loads.

First-rate technology and content

For the V85 TT project to achieve its main goal, or rather to satisfy Guzzista in their daily riding as well as in their touring and adventurous off-road riding, Moto Guzzi has designed a complete range of standard electronic equipment, without any inopportune technological overload, for maximum travel enjoyment. To make life on board easier and safer, Moto Guzzi introduces three different riding modes on the V85 TT: Road, Rain and Off-road. Each of these Riding Modes corresponds to a different engine mapping and a different calibration of the MGCT traction control (can be disabled) and ABS, as well as a different response from the Ride-by-Wire throttle control:

  • Road: designed for smooth riding while still retaining an element of fun. Foresees a medium level of MGCT traction control calibration, ABS active on both channels and a prompt throttle response .
  • Rain: ideal in situations of reduced grip, to ensure maximum safety while riding. Foresees a higher level of traction control calibration, ABS active at both wheels and a more gentle throttle response .
  • Off-road: designed to make the most of the chassis and engine during off-road exploits. Foresees the lowest level of traction control intervention, ABS only active at the front wheel with dedicated calibration (and with the possibility to deactivate it at the front wheel), along with a more gentle throttle response assisted by greater engine braking.

The rider need only select the preferred mode, safe in the knowledge that Moto Guzzi has developed the best possible electronic configuration for each Riding Mode.

V85 TT is also equipped with Cruise Control, so that a pre-set speed can be maintained without acting on the accelerator. This system is also designed to make a rider’s journey easier, just one button needed to activate and engage the system and increase/reduce the set speed.

All travel parameters can be controlled via the digital instrument cluster complete with TFT display. The background and colour of the characters adapt to different light conditions thanks to a built-in sensor. The information displayed, in addition to the classic speedometer, rev counter, mileage counter and clock, also includes selected gear indices, air temperature, fuel level, average and current consumption, residual autonomy and selected Riding Mode. It is also possible to set a maximum number of revs for the gear shift light sensor, useful when running in the bike or seeking to limit fuel consumption as far as possible. Alongside the display is a USB port while provision is made for a second port under the seat. The full LED headlight assembly, in addition to low and high beam functions, has a series of built-in daytime running lights (DRL) which, taking on its shapes, project the Moto Guzzi Eagle logo. The taillight uses LED technology to render a 3D characterisation reminiscent of a jet’s afterburners during take-off. The LED turn indicators are equipped with an automatic cancelling system.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT presents Moto Guzzi MIA, the new Moto Guzzi multimedia platform that allows a smartphone to be connected to the vehicle (via an ECU available in the rich catalogue of Moto Guzzi accessories), thus extending instrument functionality.  Moto Guzzi MIA can be used to play music and to make/receive phone calls using a helmet intercom. It also introduces a navigation function for the first time, allowing the rider to find and set a destination and view directions in the form of intuitive pictographs on the instrument cluster.

Versions and colours

Moto Guzzi V85 TT is available in two graphic versions:

  • two more urban colour schemes, Atacama Grey and Vulcano Red, which come with Metzeler Tourance Next tyres.
  • two more evocative colour schemes, Sahara Yellow and Kalahari Red, combined with the splendid red paint of the frame and fork stanchion guards to match the fuel tank. Both are shod with the new Michelin Anakee Adventure tyre, capable of guaranteeing better off-road grip.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT is also available as a Travel version, which stands out for its dedicated colours and graphics and its wide range of standard equipment that is particularly suitable for touring. Equipment includes the Touring windshield, higher and more protective thanks to its increased surface area, up 60% on the standard unit, and the Urban series of very spacious side panniers (the 37 litre right-hand pannier can hold a full-face helmet, while the left has 27.5-litre capacity) that make for less lateral bulk (only 928 mm), both locks using the same key; it also comprises a pair of additional LED lights and a set of adjustable heated hand grips that require no additional electronic controls considering that the activation button is part of the standard left-hand switch block on the Moto Guzzi V85 TT. The range of special equipment is rounded out with Moto Guzzi MIA, the multimedia platform that allows the rider to connect a smartphone to the vehicle, extending the functions of the instrument cluster. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel is offered in the exclusive Sabbia Namib colour: the grey frame is paired with the matte colour of the chassis, while the tank and side panels are enhanced with dedicated graphics. Michelin Anakee Adventure tyres underline the adventure touring attitude.

The Moto Guzzi off-road tradition

Moto Guzzi boasts a solid off-road tradition: initial proof of this came at the Six Day Reliability Trial in 1939, which took place in Austria, where Moto Guzzi participated with the GT 20, winning four gold medals. This reliability trend continued in 1957, with the Lodola Regolarità, and then with the Stornello Regolarità in 1962. Moto Guzzi bikes have participated in various editions of the Paris-Dakar, albeit in an unofficial capacity, thanks to race versions prepared on the request of Guzzisti. Already present at the first 1979 edition with a modified V50, rider Bernard Rigoni managed to finish the race mid-field, a very positive result considering that the classification combined both cars and bikes at that time. Moto Guzzi motorcycles immediately earned the respect of the other manufacturers involved, due to the speed-related performance achieved by the 90° transverse V twin together with its reduced fuel consumption and excellent chassis stability. It went on to compete again in 1980 and 1981, though its most famous appearances are those of 1985 and 1986, owing to the great passion and dedication of a guzzista architect called Claudio Torri, who commissioned the Mandello Test Department with building a very special V65 TT. The engine was based on that of the V65, tuned to 55 HP; the frame was significantly strengthened, while suspension was specifically configured for off-road usage. The original fuel tank was replaced with a 50 litre aluminium tank, while the swingarm was taken from the sporty Le Mans 1000. The bike behaved well, so much so that the French importer requested 16 units to sell to private riders for use during subsequent seasons; at the same time the importer also asked Moto Guzzi to develop a new model, based on the more high-performance V75 with four valve timing. The V75 TT was accredited with 62 HP that allowed for a top speed in excess of 170 Km/h. Both bikes are part of a collection of more than 150 models exhibited at the Moto Guzzi museum in Mandello del Lario.

Moto Guzzi V7 III

V7 is one of the most celebrated and well-known Moto Guzzi models. This global fame is due to its ability to remain faithful to the expectations and reputation of a legendary brand like Moto Guzzi. Since 1967, the year the first units were sold in Italy, the V7 has become a cornerstone of the product range, representative of the ultimate Italian motorcycle and standing out for its content and design, highly popular with a wide and varied public.

More than fifty years after the launch of the first example, Moto Guzzi V7 III is the third act of a unique story. The challenge of introducing the V7 III was one of the most difficult, considering the heraldry and success of the V7. It has also been the brand’s best-selling model since 2009, the entry level bike in the Moto Guzzi world.

As was the case with the V7 II compared to the first-born V7, the revamping of the V7 III was significant enough to merit a new Roman numeral, which have always been used in reference to the popular and long-lasting Moto Guzzi bikes. V7 III is the result of Moto Guzzi passion, the company skilfully updating its best seller while retaining its original character and authenticity, values that are set to last.

SIX VERSIONS AND INFINITE INTERPRETATIONS

In 2020, the V7 III family is updated with the introduction of two new models: the essential V7 III Stone, already available in the “Night Pack” variant with full LED light set and specific style details, is enriched with a new limited edition, the sportier looking V7 III Stone S, only 750 numbered units of which are being produced.
While the already well-known V7 III Special and V7 III Rough remain unchanged, another new entry is the V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary, created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the first Eagle-branded Café Racer model and adopting a new top fairing and full LED light set.
The “seven-fifty” from Mandello has proved to be an excellent starting base for custom projects. The Moto Guzzi original accessories catalogue dedicated to the V7 III includes more than 80 parts and continues to grow, the V7 III therefore lending itself to an infinite variety of interpretations, allowing the rider to create their own made to measure special, just like a tailored suit.

OWNING AND RIDING A V7 IS NOW EVEN MORE PLEASURABLE

The third generation of the “seven-fifty” from Mandello will continue to be the Moto Guzzi entry-level model. Easy to ride and one of the most contained in the category in terms of its size and weight, it also flaunts a strong and authentic character, typical of all Moto Guzzi bikes, much of which is shown off by the transversal V-twin engine, a one-of-a-kind configuration. The primary goals steering this evolution had to do with style, standard equipment and performance on the road, in other words, aspects that influence the pleasure of owning and riding a V7.
V7 III retains the stylistic personality of the model, characterized by a design that communicates with shapes inspired by Moto Guzzi heritage and modern motorcycle requirements. The first impression is that you are in the presence of a mature and sturdy bike, a sensation due primarily to the presence of dual pipe exhaust manifolds and engine heads, both with generous dimensions, despite V7 III proving to be one of the most accessible and sleekest motorcycles. On the other hand, the metal fuel tank has not changed, with its excellent 21-litre capacity and style inspired, as ever, by that of the magnificent 1971 V7 Sport. Also standing out for their refined style are the injector covers and side fairings with their sleek shape. Each of the V7 III versions has a dedicated saddle with brand new graphics and coverings. V7 III Stone and Rough adopt a single circular instrument display, in line with their image as essential motorcycles. Meanwhile, the Special and Racer versions feature a second circular display for the rev counter. The speedometer has an analogue dial, while all other information is contained in the digital box: odometer, partial and daily trip (resets automatically eight hours after being switched off), trip time, instantaneous and average consumption, air temperature, average speed and the MGCT (traction control) level, as well as the engaged gear indicator, for which the minimum and maximum rpm value can be adjusted by the user. This way, you can control a predetermined engine rpm range, to run in the bike as effectively as possible or to reduce fuel consumption to a minimum for example. The rider interacts with the instrumentation using the button on the right-hand electrical block. The rich catalogue of dedicated accessories also includes MOTO GUZZI MIA, the Moto Guzzi multimedia platform that connects your smartphone to the vehicle, providing an exceptional quantity of information handy for your trip.

CHASSIS: A GUARANTEE OF QUALITY IN THE MOTO GUZZI TRADITION

Moto Guzzi is renowned for its ability to design exceptional chassis. The delightful ride of the V7 has its origins in the distant past: in 1970, after a highly demanding series of tests, the V7 Police won the selection to join the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) team, demonstrating the Larian brand’s authority on the matter even overseas. The steel frame maintains the double cradle tubular layout and the same weight distribution (46% front; 54% rear) typical of recent V7 tradition; the third generation introduces an entirely revamped and reinforced front end with different steering geometry to guarantee greater dynamic performance through the turns, as well as better handling and stability. Particular attention has been paid to the painstaking care and finish of the details, including the welding and paintwork. The rear suspension system relies on a pair of Kayaba shock absorbers, adjustable in spring preload: thanks to their superior quality and the inclination on the fixing point to the frame, they provide a progressive and controlled response in any situation, even when riding two-up. The passenger can count on a comfortable seating position, thanks to the low and forward positioning of the foot pegs. The saddle-handlebar-footpeg triangulation is ideally spaced for riders of any height thanks to the lower saddle(770 mm from the ground) and the correct positioning of the aluminium footpegs.

SMALL BLOCK ENGINE: UNIQUE CHARACTER AND SOUND

There are many excellent twin cylinder engines in the world, but there is only one transverse V and it is the Moto Guzzi twin, born in 1967 thanks to the ingenious intuition of Giulio Cesare Carcano and characterised by a unique cylinder configuration that made it an integral part of the bike’s design, like a true modern art metallic sculpture. In the small block version, it has arrived at its third evolution and has been completely revamped with respect to the unit that equipped the V7 II, with the goal of boosting riding pleasure to the max, as well as guaranteeing higher performance and reliability.

The aluminium crankcase, stiffened at its central points, adopts a crankshaft with inertia calculated so as to ensure pep and an adequate engine brake. The lubrication system in the crankcase is designed to dissipate the heat in the best possible way and reduce power absorption in favour of both performance and a reduction in fuel consumption. There is also a ventilation system that reduces power loss owing to the internal pumping of the crankcase chambers and a reduced capacity oil pump capable of absorbing less power. The oil pump intake duct is new, as is the related by-pass valve and piston cooling oil jets have been introduced that have a flow control and management valve. The alternator cover includes the blow-by gas output.

The changes introduced a year ago also concerned the high part of the engine, with entirely new cylinder heads, pistons and cylinders in aluminium with respect to the V7 II, although the bore and stroke, and therefore the engine displacement, remain the same, a choice that sees V7 III confirm its place as a Moto Guzzi entry-level motorcycle range. As per tradition, timing is controlled by a pushrod and rockers system with 2 valves per cylinder, but arranged in an inclined position (more efficient) in the head. The fuel system is entrusted to a single-body Marelli electronic injection system managed by an electronic control unit. The exhaust system is complete with dual pipe manifolds that help to improve thermal insulation. With the auxiliary air system intake in the heads, combined with the trivalent catalytic converter, the double lambda probe and the engine design, the Moto Guzzi twin 750 complies with the Euro 4 standard.

Power reaches a maximum of 52 hp at 6200 rpm, while maximum torque comes in at 60 Nm at 4900 rpm, with a truly flat torque curve that promise ease of use combined, as ever, with that typical character and rapid response of a Moto Guzzi engine. A reduced-power version is also available, in line with the limitations set by the A2 class driver’s license and ideal for new Guzzi riders, who can also count on a contained total weight and size and the general ease of riding ensured by all V7 III versions. Another innovative aspect of the Moto Guzzi engine is the 170 mm dry single disc clutch that increases sturdiness and reliability over time, also decreasing the load on the lever at the handlebar, all to the advantage of modulability and riding comfort. The six speed gearbox, precise and smooth in shifting, remains unchanged compared to the V7 II, but it benefits from a different ratio for first and sixth gear, both slightly lengthened, handy for taking better advantage of the engine’s torque and power features.

SAFETY: A MOTO GUZZI ASSET

Moto Guzzi has always been at the top of its game when it comes to safety aspects. V7 III has an ABS braking system and an adjustable MGCT (Moto Guzzi Traction Control) system that can also be disabled. The former is a two-channel Continental system that prevents the wheels from locking up, whereas the latter is a system that prevents rear wheel spin in acceleration. The MGCT system is adjustable to two sensitivity levels, one more conservative and ideal, for example, in poor grip situations due to wet or slippery asphalt and the other is designed to cater to the thrill of riding in safety on dry roads. Another peculiarity of the MGCT system is the possibility to recalibrate rear tyre circumference, compensating for any wear or the use of a tyre with a different profile than the original so that the traction control will always be precise.

V7 III STONE

V7 III Stone stands out for its strong aesthetic and personal connotations. Eclectic and essential, it forsakes any chrome details to embrace the darkness of the matte black paintwork, added to which is a brand new matching passenger grab strap.
The total “dark matte” look is completed with a black light setting and the eagle that adorns the fuel tank, created with a particular burnished finish. Yet these are not the only differences for which V7 III Stone stands out from the other versions: the front mudguard is shortened to enhance the essential nature of this model, and painted to match the fuel tank. the wheels are spoked and the instrument cluster comprising a single circular display.
In addition to Nero Ruvido, V7 III Stone is available in two new and attractive satin finishcolour schemes, Grigio Granitico and Rosso Rovente.
V7 III Stone is also available in the Night Pack variation, characterised by significant stylistic and functional changes, the first of which is the implementation of new LED lights which ensure significant lighting power for the headlight, turn indicators and taillight.
This version, aesthetically defined by the low positioning of the headlight and instrument cluster, boasts a new rear mudguard, short and sleek, into which the brake light bracket and license plate holder are integrated.
The dedicated saddle is characterised by heat welding and enhanced with the embroidered Moto Guzzi logo. V7 III Stone Night Pack is available with the classic Nero Ruvido livery or in the Bronzo Levigato and Blu Pungente variations.

V7 III STONE S

The only member of the 2020 V7 III family to be produced in a limited edition, Moto GuzziV7 III Stone S will be manufactured in just 750 units, a number that evokes the engine capacity of the “seven-fifty” from Mandello. To further highlight the exclusive nature of this particular version, the serial number of the model is engraved on the handlebar riser.
The distinctive elements that make the new Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone S immediately recognisable are the beautiful satin chrome fuel tank, wrapped on the top by a black leather strap, and the full LED light clusters, including the headlight, taillight and turn indicators: a modern, high-tech spirit, seen for the first time on the “Night Pack” variation of the V7 III Stone, which also includes the lowered position of the headlight and instrument cluster and ashorter and sleeker rear mudguard. All of this, along with brand new “bar end” rear view mirrors, give the Stone S an even more slender and dynamic profile.
Another sporty touch comes in the form of numerous red details: the ever-present Eagle on both sides of the fuel tank, the shock absorber springs and the elegant red stitching that enhances the special dedicated saddle, upholstered in water-repellent Alcantara®, an entirely weather resistant material. The equipment package also includes an anodized black locking fuel cap made from aluminium billet and the side panels, also in aluminium with a dedicated logo.
The mechanical part is also elegantly dressed, with the throttle body covers in natural anodized aluminium and the cylinder heads with milled cooling fins.
Also new on the Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone S are the high-performance Dunlop Arrowmax Streetsmart tyres, emphasising the dynamic qualities of the Eagle brand’s “seven-fifty” in its most recent and brand-new sporty interpretation.

V7 III SPECIAL

Of the V7 models, this is the one that comes closest to the spirit of the original model. Classic and elegant, it features numerous chrome parts and decidedly bright graphics. Like the famous 1975 V750 S3, it has the typical coloured stripe on the side fairings under the saddle that complements the matching horizontal band on the tank. The spoked wheels have polished channels and black hubs; the instrumentation is made up of dual circular displays and the chromium plated steel passenger grab handle comes standard. V7 III Special also has a saddle with “old school” stitching, elements that highlight its classic and elegant roots. It is available in the Nero Onice and Grigio Cristallo colour variants.

V7 III ROUGH

This version stands out for its knobby tyres mounted on spoked wheel rims and the many details that give the V7 III Rough its urban/country look. The equipment is completed with the dedicated saddle with stitching, passenger grab strap and the pair of aluminium side fairings. The mudguards are made of the same high-quality material. The headlight frame is painted black and the fork stanchions are protected by classic rubber dust covers. Another Moto Guzzi style proposal that sees the V7 III transform into a true factory special thanks to just a few skilful touches. V7 III Rough is available in the Grigio Grafite and Verde Mimetico colours.

V7 III RACER 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Moto Guzzi V7 Racer has always been the ambassador of the V7 range, the model with the sportiest spirit of all. Born in 2010 and developed in 2015 with the arrival of the V7 II Racer and in 2017 with the birth of the third generation, in 2020, the Moto Guzzi V7 III Racer reinvents its self once again, and does so in accordance with tradition of course, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the first model’s birth.
The new Moto Guzzi V7 III Racer 10th Anniversarydiffers significantly from the previous version in terms of its front view, where a new top fairing with incorporated windshield stands out, sleek and sporty, in line with the traits of authentic Café Racer style. The top fairing is enhanced with dedicated red graphics – also picked up on the saddle cover hump – which flaunt the “10th Anniversary” celebratory detail.
At the centre of the top fairing is the new, full LED headlight, just as the taillight and turn indicators are also LED. A modern and dynamic look also emphasised by a thinner and sleeker rear mudguard, and by brand new “bar end” rear view mirrors.
Numerous style features hark back to previous versions of the Café Racer from Mandello, all tributes to its ten-year heritage: the fuel tank, wrapped on top with the classic leather belt, does away with satin look chrome to return to the beautiful glossy chrome that characterised the original 2010 model, while other distinctive V7 Racer and V7 II Racer traits reappear on the racing number plates, namely the number 7 and red edging with Italian flag detail.
As for the rest, Moto Guzzi V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary retains the fundamental characteristics of a model that has become iconic, such as the frame and the swingarm painted in “Rosso Corsa” (racing red), an explicit reference to the 1971 V7 Sport, nicknamed, in fact, “telaio rosso” (red frame); the semi-handlebars, the splendid, humped saddle, now enhanced with red stitching, that has a single-seat look but is approved for two-up riding as well: in fact, it has pillion foot pegs, whereas the seat cover can be easily removed when necessary. The spoked wheel rims have black channels and red Moto Guzzi stickers like the other sport models from the Eagle Brand, including the Audace muscle bike.
Produced as always in anumbered edition, as indicated by the plate located on the upper steering yoke, V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary is not only the sportiest in the range, but also the model with the most prestigious parts, once again demonstrating Moto Guzzi’s ability to create true custom models. These include the rear-set machined from solid adjustable footpegs, the lightened steering stem and the steering yoke guard. Another feature worth mentioning is the extensive use of black anodized aluminium. This artisan treatment, which requires superb craftsmanship, characterises the side fairings and the throttle body guards.
The V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary, like the new Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone S, is also shod with new Dunlop Arrowmax Streetsmart tyres, higher performance, so you can fully enjoy the dynamic qualities of the Café Racer from Mandello.

MOTO GUZZI MIA CONNECTS V7 III TO THE WORLD

For the V7 III range, the innovative MOTO GUZZI MIA multimedia system is available as an optional accessory. This system is able to connect the bike to a smartphone. THE ORIGINS OF THE LEGENDARY V7

The year was 1961 and the success of the mass produced car was radically reorganizing the motorcycle market. Moto Guzzi, empowered with enviable design capacity reacted to the unfavourable circumstances by exploring new markets, from delivery three-wheelers to agricultural machinery and special vehicles – even cars. For the latter, the genius designer Giulio Cesare Carcano designed a 90° V-twin air cooled engine destined for a sport version of the Fiat 500, capable of touching 140 km/h. They liked the new engine in Lingotto, but the annual quantity that Vittorio Valletta requested exceeded the production capacity of the Mandello del Lario plant, so the agreement never came to fruition.

Mr. Carcano, however, did not lose heart and he increased the size of the two cylinder engine to 754 cc to use it on the “3X3”, a popular, variable track three wheel drive vehicle destined for use by Alpine troops. At the same time a ministerial tender was launched to provide motorcycles for the Highway Police the winner would be whoever could travel 100,000 km with the lowest maintenance cost. It was the perfect chance to place Mr. Carcano’s two-cylinder, entirely revamped, on a bike, the Moto Guzzi V7. It was an innovative project that combined the reliability of automotive standards with a level of comfort and mechanical affordability unknown to the competition that aroused the curiosity even of foreign police forces, Los Angeles being among the first. Testing of the new V7 700 began in 1964. The bike had a 703.3 cc engine for power of 40 HP and a weight of 230 kg. Standard production got underway in 1966, the vehicles destined for the police and overseas markets while the following year saw the V7 700 distributed in Italy at the competitive price of 725,000 lire, decidedly chapter than its German and British competition.

EVOLUTION ACCORDING TO LINO TONTI

Giulio Cesare Carcano’s creation was perfected by an expert designer who joined Moto Guzzi in 1967: Lino Tonti. Hailing from Forlì, with a great deal of experience in competitions with Mondial, Bianchi and Gilera, the engineer was called on by the general manager Romolo Stefani to expand the range of the maxi-bike from Mandello del Lario. The V7 appeared at the right time, bikes were coming domineeringly back into fashion almost as a reaction to the conformism of the car and the market is particularly open to innovations.

The first thing Tonti did was to increase the engine size to 757 and the power to 45 HP to launch the V7 special in 1969, faster, more refined and more elegant than the V7 700. Then he created, initially for the American market, the V7 Ambassador and the California, the latter destined to be one of the greatest Moto Guzzi success stories. The next milestone coincided with Lino Tonti’s masterpiece: the V7 Sport. The designer from Forlì had clear ideas and he set the three parameters of the sport bike from Mandello: 200 km/h, 200 kg, 5 gears. To achieve the objective he made some changes to the engine, taking the displacement to 748.3 cc and the power to more than 52 HP, redesigning the crankshaft and camshafts, in addition to placing the alternator in the front in order to keep the vertical bulk down.

The engine was lodged in a tight, double cradle frame in chrome molybdenum steel, painted red for the first 200 units and assembled directly in the experience department on via Parodi, No. 57. The bike made its début in 1971 and in June of the same year it participated in the “500 kilometres of Monza” race taking third place with Raimondo Riva. This was the beginning of a series of flattering results obtained in endurance races such as the 24 Hour Le Mans and Liegi races which would contribute, together with very popular riders such as Vittorio Brambilla, to making it the most famous Italian sport bike of the 1970s.

FROM THE V7 TO THE 850 GENERATION

Over a couple of seasons the technological evolution which was achieved with the V7 Sport Moto Guzzi was also transferred to the rest of the range. The new frame, the four pad front brake and the five speed transmission introduced on the V7 Sport represented, together with the increased engine size, the primary innovations of the V850 GT, a model which would mark the retirement of the lucky V7 Special in 1973. The Sport would also lose the famous alphanumeric name, replaced in 1974 by the Moto Guzzi 750S. The last model to give up the glorious alphanumeric name was the V7 850 California, which would not pass the baton to the new 850 T California until 1976.

Moto Guzzi Protagonist At The London Design Festival 2019

All Right Reserved

The combination of technology and high quality Italian craftsmanship, a distinctive trait of Moto Guzzi, was celebrated during the multi-sensory Touchy Smelly Feely Noisy Tasty event hosted at the Coal Office, the London headquarters of renowned designer Tom Dixon, rider and Moto Guzzi enthusiast.

The stars of the evening were the Moto Guzzi V7 Tomoto signed by Dixon, a unique and unrepeatable piece, a mixture of motorcycle art and industrial design, and the Moto Guzzi V85 TT, the great traveller and latest arrival in the Eagle brand family. The two bikes were exhibited in the innovative creative hub on Bagley Walk in London, in the beating heart of the London King’s Cross design hub.

Tomoto was born out of a particular stylistic interpretation of the Moto Guzzi V7, one of the most famous and well-known Moto Guzzi models, a best-seller for the Italian manufacturer. It is a special, one of a kind version and it is signed – literally – by Tom Dixon. In fact, the logo is hand painted by the designer in a shocking bright pink colour. V7 Tomoto combines the best Moto Guzzi technology with a unique design rooted in the raw aluminium features, the laser incised wheel rims that reproduce an original graphic-geometrical patter in the headlight that draws inspiration from the Fin Obround lamp, one of Dixon’s creations from 2012.

Alongside the special V7 as well as the V9 Bobber, the sports custom that inaugurated the mid-size production bobber segment, was the Moto Guzzi V85 TT, the latest arrival in the Eagle manufacturer fleet. This Classic Enduro combines the agility, practicality and versatility so typical of ’80s era bikes with a highly classic features derived from the off-read world that highlight the minimalism of its lines, combined with technologically advanced elements, such as the series of LED front lights with a DRL (Daytime Running Light) that outlines the shape of the Moto Guzzi eagle and the digital instrument cluster.

These three gems of motorcycle design were an integral part of the installation created by the British designer at the Coal Office for the London Design Festival 2019 which livened up the British capital from the 14th to the 22nd of September.

Ewan McGregor, back on a Moto Guzzi

Ewan McGregor is back in the saddle of a Moto Guzzi, his age-old and authentic passion. The opportunity stems from the launch of the global advertising campaign for the new Moto Guzzi V85 TT, the all-terrain that bears the Italian brand in the large enduro touring segment.

This is not the first time the Hollywood star, one with a vast fan base, has matched his image and reputation as a truly passionate biker with Moto Guzzi. In fact, the first episode of this happy partnership dates back to 2013 when – in West Australia – Ewan was the protagonist at the launch of the new California 1400.

The relationship between Moto Guzzi and the Scottish actor is genuine and sprung naturally from McGregor’s love for motorcycles and in particular, those built in Mandello del Lario. Star of more than fifty films, including blockbusters the likes of Trainspotting, Star Wars, Moulin Rouge, Angels and Demons, The Impossible, T2 Trainspotting, McGregor had already talked about his passion for Moto Guzzi in road movie Long Way Down”, when he made a stop in Mandello del Lario to visit the Moto Guzzi headquarters for the first time. A few months later, he reappeared on the banks of the Lario for the 2007 edition of GMG – Giornate Mondiali Moto Guzzi (Moto Guzzi World Days), returning to London astride his white California Vintage.

Today, the relationship continues with a collaboration which is unique in its kind, with Ewan McGregor the protagonist of the new launch campaign for the Moto Guzzi V85 TT, a bike that, as a true biker, Ewan – as is always the case – wanted to ride personally on the road before agreeing to take on the role of testimonial for it.

Making the production of the campaign even more charming was the location from which the actor’s voyage began astride his V85TT, the exclusive Resort Is Molas project, located in the splendid setting of Southern Sardinia. A true hermitage of uncontaminated natural beauty, this part of Sardinia has some wonderful views of the sea and the landscape of beautiful golf greens, a unique environment that welcomed and pampered Ewan McGregor and his Moto Guzzi on the departure and return from routes on paved and dirt roads in this little corner of paradise.

The photos of McGregor and his Moto Guzzi V85 TT were taken by Paolo Zambaldi for The Ad Store Italia agency which, directed by Natalia Borri, produced the campaign under the artistic direction of Luca Eremo.

Two months after its arrival on the market, V85 TT is confirming just how intensely awaited it was by riders everywhere: more than 10 thousand test rides were booked before the bike was even available, and the requests keep rolling in on the Moto Guzzi website. All the European countries are involved in the test rides and in terms of sales, the Italian, German, French and UK markets stand out with a demand far beyond the highest expectations.
Moto Guzzi V85 TT is the classic enduro dedicated to travel and tourism that provides ultra modern performance and technologies in a style rich in Moto Guzzi values and tradition.

V85 TT is built on a new technical platform and powered by a brand new 80 HP / 80 Nm engine, a 90° V-twin that is unique in the world for its construction layout and riding sensations. Comfortable, easy to ride, intuitive and featuring state-of-the-art chassis architecture, the new V85TT is a great traveller that adapts to everyone, gratifying both in everyday riding and on great adventures. It boasts premium standard equipment and there is an extremely vast range of accessories to satisfy the rider for every use, from daily commutes to touring to off-roading. The V85 TT comes standard with Multimap Ride by Wire throttle and traction control. Plus, the Moto Guzzi MIA application lets you connect your smartphone to the instruments, significantly expanding the functions.

New Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone “Night Pack”

Moto Guzzi has always evolved the models of the V7 III family, preserving their original character and authenticity, unique values destined to last over time, like this inimitable model that has made motorcycle history. This is also true for the latest addition, the Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone in the new Night Pack variant, characterised by new full led lights and by significant stylistic interventions.

The Night Pack variant adds the modern high-tech soul of led lights to the essential look typical of the V7 III Stone, which ensures high illuminating power of the headlight, the indicators and the rear light.

The lowered position of the headlight and of the instrumentation and a new, short and slender rear mudguard, which integrates the support of the stop light and of the renewed registration plate holder, also give the V7 III Stone Night Pack a sleeker profile. The dedicated saddle is characterised by heat-sealing and enhanced by the grey embroidered Moto Guzzi logo.

In addition to the classic “total black” Nero Ruvido, the V7 III Stone Night Pack is also available in the Honed Bronze and Pungent Blue variants.

NEW COLOUR RANGE FOR THE V7 III SPECIAL. The Moto Guzzi V7 III Special is the most classic and elegant interpretation of the “settemmezzo” of Mandello and is also the version most faithful to the spirit of the original model, distinguished by the numerous chrome details and glossy graphics, now combined with two new colour variants, Onyx Black and Crystal Grey.

Like the famous V750 S3 of 1975, the V7 III Special offers the typical coloured band on the under-saddle sides which matches the horizontal band of the same colour on the tank. The elegant spoked wheels have polished channels and black hubs; the instrumentation has a double circular dial, while the chrome-plated steel grab handle for the passenger is standard. Finally, the brown saddle has “old school” effect stitching, another element with a vintage flavour.

Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport

V9 Bobber is the sport custom that breathed life into the medium engine capacity bobber segment. It is a bike with a unique personality, essential in its form and with aesthetics characterised by the numerous total black details and its oversize tyres, just like the ones used by riders who, in the post WW2 period, launched the bobber phenomenon in the States, challenging one another on dirt flat tracks.

And it is precisely from this authentic “racer” origin that the new Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport special series draws its inspiration, with a decidedly aggressive look and revealing the sportiest side of its character.

The new V9 Bobber Sport stands out for its single-seat lowered saddle which, combined with the usual low drag bar supported by shorter risers, leads the rider to assuming a more accentuated “low ride” position, compact and sporty.

Frame and suspension qualities, riding pleasure and easy handling are enhanced by the Öhlins shock absorbers, adjustable in spring preload and hydraulic rebound and compression, which ensure a greater capacity to dampen small bumps and at the same time provide greater control when riding at high speeds. The unmistakeable sound of the Moto Guzzi 850 twin cylinder is emphasised by the street-legal slip-on exhaust painted matte black and with the bottom in aluminium and characterised in the terminal part by a sleek, oblique shape.

The special dedicated colour scheme, a brand new and aggressive orange, covers the tank – with the Moto Guzzi eagle done in a particular burnished finish – and also extends to the aluminium side panels, thereby blending with the typical matte total black look of the V9 Bobber. The dark colours here extend to other parts such as the engine cooling fins, the billet aluminium fuel cap, the headlight frame and the instrument cluster graphic.

Other specific features give the front of the new Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport an even grittier and more muscular presence: the front mudguard has been shortened, whereas the headlight in a lowered position is framed by a small black aluminium top fairing. Last but not least, the fork stanchions are protected by classic rubber dust boots.

The new V9 Bobber Sport shows the aggressive side of its character, drawing inspiration from the bikes that spawned the legendary bobber phenomenon

New addition to the V9 family on display in Mandello from 7th to 9th September during Moto Guzzi house 2018

The new Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport has made its début at the Moto Guzzi Open House 2018, the must-attend event for all Eagle brand lovers which will liven up the historic Mandello del Lario plant on the weekend of the 7th to 9th September, when the thousands of enthusiasts expected to descend on the Moto Guzzi factory will be the first to discover the latest gritty addition to the V9 range.

The V9 Bobber is the sport custom that gave life to the medium engine capacity bobber segment. It is a bike with a unique personality, essential in its shape and with a look marked by its numerous total black details and its oversize tyres, just like the ones mounted by the riders in the post-WWII era who gave life to the bobber phenomenon in the United States, racing on fast dirt flat tracks. It is precisely this authentic racing origin that inspired the new special Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport with a decidedly mean look and the revelation of the sportiest side of its character.

The new V9 Bobber Sport stands out with its lowered single-seat which, combined with the usual low drag bar supported by lower risers, leads to a more accentuated “low ride”, compact and sporty position.

Frame and suspension qualities, riding pleasure and easy handling are enhanced by the Öhlins shock absorbers, adjustable in spring preload and hydraulic compression and rebound to ensure better bump dampening capacity and at the same time more control. The unmistakeable sound of the Moto Guzzi 850 V-twin is enhanced by the street legal slip-on exhaust pipes painted matte black and with an aluminium bottom, characterised at the end by a sleek, oblique shape.

The special dedicated colour scheme, a brand new and gritty orange, covers the fuel tank – with the Moto Guzzi eagle executed in a particular burnished finish – and also extends to the aluminium side panels, thereby mixing with the V9 Bobber’s typical matte total black look. The dark shades also spill over into other parts such as the engine cooling fins, the fuel cap in billet aluminium, the headlight frame and the instrument cluster graphics.

Other specific details give the front end of the new Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport an even grittier and muscular presence: the front mudguard has been shortened, whereas the lowered headlight is framed by a tight black aluminium top fairing. Last, but not least, the fork tubes are protected by classic dust boots.

Further pricing and availability information will follow later this year.

Moto Guzzi V7 III Limited Unveiled At Wheels And Waves

Moto Guzzi unveils a new and special version of the “seven-Fifty” from Mandello at the wheels and waves show in Biarritz.

With just 500 numbered units made, the V7 III limited stands out for its eclectic and modern look, which blends elegant chrome and refined hi-tech materials.

In the charming setting of Biarritz, which this weekend plays host to the annual Wheels and Waves show, Moto Guzzi unveiled the new Moto Guzzi V7 III Limited in front thousands of motorcyclists.

An exclusive limited-edition version of just 500 numbered units, the V7 III Limited is another demonstration of the stylistic versatility of a bike that symbolises ‘Made in Italy’. Combining the classic and elegant chromium look with refined hi-tech materials such as carbon fibre and aluminium, it is an extremely youthful bike in an eclectic and modern style that reiterates how well the V7 III lends itself to customisation.

On the Moto Guzzi V7 III Limited, the numerous chromium plated parts are reminiscent of the purest Classic world, beginning with the chromium fuel tank, “wrapped” on the top under a black leather vintage-look strap. On the sides, the unmistakeable Moto Guzzi eagle is rendered in a burnished finish: after all, black is another recurring element on the V7 III Limited, from the alloy wheels to the saddle with “old school” stitching, as well as the typical pattern of carbon fibre, the material used for the front and rear fenders and the side panels. The locking fuel cap is made from billet aluminium, as are the handlebar risers which bear the model’s laser inscribed serial number.

The Moto Guzzi 750 twin-cylinder engine also has a refined look, with the throttle body covers made of black anodised aluminium and the cylinder heads with milled cooling fins that create another contrasting effect. The essential instrumentation is a single, circular display with analogue speedometer and the other information contained on a digital display.

The Moto Guzzi V7 III Limited is available for purchase through the Moto Guzzi sales network at a price of £8,999 OTR.

The Inclement Weather Did Not Stop The Passion For Moto Guzzi

The passion for Moto Guzzi was victorious once again in this edition of Open House, despite the falling rain throughout the weekend that was unable to extinguish the love for the Eagle brand that animates the soul of every Guzzista. 15 thousand arrived in Mandello del Lario from every corner of Europe to celebrate one of the most noble and beloved motorcycle brands in the world.

96 years after its birth, Moto Guzzi is in its second youth thanks to the success of the strategies enacted by the Piaggio Group on the new products, accessories and lifestyle, as well as all the activities conducted for the purpose of spreading the Moto Guzzi culture, a brand that has always been proudly Italian.

Thousands reached the Mandello plant astride their bikes, participating in the Open House with the most activities ever for the public, first and foremost including tours of the production lines (where all Moto Guzzi bikes have always been hand built) and the Museum, the historical heritage of Moto Guzzi that houses more than 150 motorcycles. From the GP of its origins to the MGS-01, going through the first Normale produced in 1921, the Museum collection is a true cult path dedicated to the fans, as is the magnificent Wind Tunnel, the first in the motorcycle field.

At the centre of the Moto Guzzi Village, in the heart of the plant, the music of Virgin Radio alternated with entertainment led by Ringo. The special guest was Gianfranco Guareschi, the rider who rode his Moto Guzzi MGS-01 to victory in the prestigious Battle of the Twins on the Daytona and the recent winner of the Vintage Endurance 4 hours in Imola astride a Le Mans. Refreshments were provided by the Foodit’s truck, serving quality gourmet dishes made on site in the best Italian tradition. The Proraso station was also fully booked, where an authentic “Barber Shop” was set up to offer top shelf shaving services free of charge to the bikers.

But just as popular was the music made by the V-twin engines in the fleet of bikes that were available for the 250-plus test rides taken: forty-five bikes representing the entire current Moto Guzzi range.

The stars of the festivities were the V7 and V9 units. This year V7 celebrates the first 50 years from the 1967 model. To celebrate this legend, Moto Guzzi made all four models in the range available for a test ride, including the exclusive V7 III Anniversario version. A photo set was also reserved for V7 owners where they were able to have a photo taken to apply on the commemorative certificate dedicated to them.

The other star of the weekend was the special V9 Bobber “Open House” version, created specifically for the event with a selection of prestigious components from the vast official accessories catalogue. This kit will be available at the end of September, included in the sticker price of the V9 Bobber. Thanks to collaboration with Poste Italiane (the Italian Post Office), all of the Open House participants received two special post cards with an exclusive postmark expressly created for the event.

The creations made by the best Italian customizers on Moto Guzzi bases proved to be a of great interest. These were ultra refined specials that have already been featured on Lord of The Bikes, the highly successful talent TV show that airs on Sky Uno HD.

The official community, The Clan , is a testament to the sense of belonging evoked by the big Moto Guzzi family. In fact, this weekend, community membership exceeded the 18,000 mark.

And so, the three-day celebration dedicated to the most beautiful Italian bikes came to an end and our thanks goes to the Mandello del Lario Comitato Motoraduno Internazionale (International Bike Rally Committee) which managed all the activities outside the factory during Open House 2017.

Moto Guzzi V9 MY17

The Moto Guzzi V9 motorcycle range evolves under the sign of comfort

V9 Roamer And V9 Bobber, the lightweight easy cruisers, easy and thrilling to ride, are now more comfortable, ready for the voyage that is in the soul of every eagle from Mandello

V9 roamer is the elegant and universal custom; v9 bobber represents the bold and essential Moto Guzzi soul. Both stand out for the exceptional quality of their components and for the high grade finishes

They are both powered by the Moto Guzzi 850 cc twin cylinder euro 4 engine with unprecedented torque, smoothness and responsiveness that contribute to improving the ride of the two italian cruisers.

Custom motorcycles are nothing new in nearly a century of Moto Guzzi history. Indeed this segment includes some of the most famous, best loved and biggest selling Mandello bikes, of which the California is the undisputed queen. Following in the tradition and the success of this 1971 model, Moto Guzzi designed and built mid-sized models, which met the demands of a growing range of users. These included the V35 Custom from 1979, later replaced by the better looking V50, in turn replaced by the V65 Florida, and then the famous and appreciated Nevada, launched in 1989 on the basis of the proven V75 1985. This continues all the way down to 2007 with the modern and stylish Bellagio.

Three essential features, deriving from a unique motorcycle culture, are common to all generations of custom Moto Guzzis:

– This is the highly personal design, in which the special and unique engine configuration plays a decisive stylistic role, always the focus of attention, as well as the sinuous tank and low exhaust pipes;

– the legendary 90° transversal V-twin engine, introduced in 1967;

– Riding pleasure in all conditions, granted by the recognised superior riding qualities all Moto Guzzis that have captured the hearts of generations of users on roads around the world.

That same motorcycle culture inspires the two Moto Guzzi motorcycles. V9 Roamer is a universal easy and intuitive custom, beautiful to show off and rewarding to ride, full of unique details and outstanding finishes. The V9 Bobber expresses an altogether darker and more nocturnal soul. It has large tyres and as a total black look.

The MY 17 V9 units, the result of the constant perfecting that Moto Guzzi dedicates to its bikes, are now distinguished by a big difference, with two clearly distinct personalities: one more touring and the other sportier.

Both of the MY 17 V9 machines evolve under the sign of comfort and a focus on long trips, introducing different riding positions, more comfortable saddles and an entire range of accessories dedicated to touring.

V9: you can feel the quality

With such explicit references to style and technology recurrent throughout the history of Moto Guzzi, the V9 could only be beautiful, fun and safe. In particular, Moto Guzzi has focused its greatest efforts on the definition of a design that would enhance the sculptural forms of the twin-cylinder 850 made in Mandello. In addition, a great deal of attention was paid to perceived quality: Exceptional care has gone into the finish and components on the V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber. They represent a new way of conceiving the medium-sized motorcycle. Touching the surfaces, we can feel the wide use of high quality materials such as steel and aluminium, while plastic parts are reduced to a minimum. The metal teardrop fuel tank on both V9s, with its 15-litre capacity, is finished with a fine coating with the Moto Guzzi logo on top, protected by clear varnish. The front and rear fenders are also made of metal. The side panels, petrol cap and brake and clutch levers, however, are made of lightweight aluminium. the ergonomic electrical blocks also have aluminium finish housings, just as the rider footpegs are made of aluminium. The steel exhaust manifolds are protected by a second tube, which, by creating an air cavity, helps to lower the heat emitted and preserve the outer surfaces.

The welds of the frame and the quality of its paintwork are immaculately finished, as are the meticulous details of the 90° transverse V-twin engine, not only in terms of the casting but also the matt black that brings out the Moto Guzzi branding milled on the aluminium cylinder head covers. It pays to look at the intimate details of these two motorcycles, their touch conveying the entire construction tradition and culture so typical of the best Moto Guzzi models.

V9 Roamer: Moto Guzzi’s cosmopolitan custom

Versatility has always been a key factor in the success of custom Moto Guzzis. Guzzi enthusiasts have ridden the big California as well as the small Nevada down busy city streets and, with a few changes for luggage, on long and adventurous journeys. Glamorous, easy, convenient and rewarding to ride, like all Moto Guzzis, the V9 Roamer is the Italian custom bike dedicated to the citizens of the world. The Piaggio Group Centro Stile developed the design, with input from the PADC (Piaggio Advanced Design Center) in Pasadena (California), the birthplace of motorcycle trends that then spread worldwide. The V9 Roamer is a superb combination of a classic and essential style with high-level finishings, showing off the unique architecture of the 850 twin-cylinder. Great care has gone into the details of the wheel rims (19″ front and 16″ rear) painted in matt black and treated with a diamond-cut finish, as well as the multi-function digital dashboard with a single circular dial.

On board comfort is improved on the V9 Roamer MY 17 thanks to a different riding position, dictated by quality crafted footpegs mounted 100 mm farther back and raised 35 mm. The advantage is two-fold: posture in the saddle is more active and extended, therefore ideal for taking full advantage of the chassis architecture qualities and at the same time space and comfort is increased even for taller riders. The saddle is also new – characterized by the generous padding brought out by the stitching – now longer and more comfortable for both rider and passenger and enhanced by the Moto Guzzi logo stitched in grey. The height off the ground is just 785 mm and it is combined with a raised, chromium handlebar with an extremely comfortable grip. This new triangulation thus offers all bikers riding comfort, ease of handling of the vehicle when stationary and feeling during dynamic riding. Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer therefore inherits the legacy left behind by the legendary Nevada 750, still in the range for more than two decades with some appropriate updates, and it strives to be a small granturismo bike, if outfitted with the new genuine accessories designed for travel, such as the larger windshield, the brand new luggage rack with removable backrest and the set of dedicated panniers.

The range of available accessories also includes the forward-set footpegs kit that restores the riding position of the first V9 Roamer series.

The advancements implemented on the 2017 V9 models are also available for the 2016 V9. In fact, the new saddle and the footpegs, decisive elements for the new ergonomics, are available as options and can be installed on the first V9 Roamer series too.

The V9 also upholds Moto Guzzi’s successful tradition of keeping the overall weight to a minimum. If the V7 III and California 1400 are already among the lightest bikes in their respective segments. The V9’s 199 kg kerb weight is a true record for its class. The reduced mass, combined with the V9 Roamer’s superb riding quality and great low-end torque offered by the 850 two-cylinder, gives feeling, handling and unique riding pleasure. The V9 Roamer is a true mid-size light motorcycle, not just for people who love and know Moto Guzzi motorcycle culture, but also those who have always loved the design of custom motorcycles, but have never bought one because of the weight and poor handling of almost all models in the sector.

V9 Bobber: Moto Guzzi has created a new segment

The name V9 Bobber evokes concepts such as its essential line, pure design and thus a certain original sporting content, underlined by a total matt black look. Moto Guzzi’s custom sports bike effectively creates the mid-size bobber series segment, in which the V9 is currently the only representative. Bobbers appeared in the United States after World War II, built by passionate riders who stripped away all details superfluous to their goal of running fast on dirt tracks. To compete in these conditions the riders used to mount oversized tyres, giving the bikes a wide footprint. In line with this style, the V9 Bobber abandons any chrome plating and glossy finish for matt black details. The side panels and fuel tank are thus pitch black, with just a few graphic details in yellow or matt red. The exhaust unit, mirrors and both metal mudguards are painted in “dark matt”. The rear mudguard has been carefully shortened and reduced in size, so as well as including a very compact optical unit, it makes a big contribution to the minimal look of the V9 Bobber. The matt black wheel rims, both 16 inches, are elegantly decorated with the Moto Guzzi logo in grey; the front rim is shod with a tyre that has an oversized shoulder (130/90). Even with these spectacular tyres and distinctive design, the bike still maintains characteristics of exceptional riding pleasure and handling. Indeed the V9 Bobber is a true Moto Guzzi, and as such does not trade rideability for beauty. The MY 17 V9 Bobber also differs from the V9 Roamer because of the more crouched and sporty riding position, provided by the lower, black painted drag bar handlebar and the aluminium footpegs mounted 100 mm farther back and raised 35 mm. This technical choice guarantees a more active and extended posture and ensures more on board space and comfort, even for taller riders. The forward-mounted footpegs kit is also available as an option for the V9 Bobber, whereas the new series footpegs and saddle can be installed on the 2016 models in order to make the new ergonomics available to all V9 owners.

The MY 2017 generation of the V9 Bobber, despite the single-seater, aggressive look, is ready and approved to carry a passenger. The new rider saddle is more padded and comfortable and it come standard with pillion seating. The passenger footpegs and saddle are easily removable to make the V9 a true single-seater. The ground clearance of the latter is only 785 mm, and if you add to this the low total kerb weight of 199 kg, it is not hard to imagine the level of comfort, control and riding pleasure the V9 Bobber provides.

The 850 twin-cylinder Moto Guzzi engine

The MY 2017 V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber versions are fitted with a Moto Guzzi 850 cc engine, built as always in the Mandello del Lario plant. This is of course a 90° transverse V-twin air and oil cooled engine, a set-up used in all current Moto Guzzi engines, albeit with different engine capacities and performance, able to ensure excellent riding dynamics and a unique sound. It was developed with the explicit aim of maximising torque and elasticity, key aspects for ensuring riding pleasure and on road fun. Starting from the bottom of the engine, the aluminium crankcase stiffened at the key points, has an efficient oil pan and an inertia calibrated crankshaft for liveliness and the correct engine braking. Inside the lubrication system is designed to dispose of the greater heat capacity and reduce power absorption to the benefit of both performance and fuel consumption. The ventilation system reduces power loss due to pumping within the crank chambers and a low flow oil pump that absorbs less power. The oil pump intake duct is unprecedented, as well as the related bypass valve; new piston cooling oil jets are also used, fitted with a control valve and flow management. The alternator cover is also unique and now includes the blow-by gas output.

In the upper part of the engine, aluminium heads, pistons and cylinders are designed to make the most of the engine’s characteristics. Its cubic capacity is obtained due to bore and stroke values of 84×77 mm. Timing is controlled by a rods and rockers system and uses 2 valves per cylinder arranged at an angle in the head. The fuel supply uses a one-piece Marelli electronic injection system, managed by the specific ECU. Of note is the presence in the entrance heads of the auxiliary air system, which, combined with the three-way catalytic converter, the double oxygen sensor and the total design of the engine, bring the twin 850 Moto Guzzi into compliance with Euro 4 standards. The unit is capable of 62 Nm of torque at just 3,000 rpm, with a maximum power of 55 HP at 6,250 rpm, figures that show Moto Guzzi’s commitment to achieving high levels of torque even at low rpms. This engine boasts surprising character and responsiveness, which contribute to a really exciting riding experience. A version with limited power is available, in line with the limitations of the A2 license and ideal for new Guzzi riders, who can also enjoy a record low total weight and the general ease of riding of both V9 versions.

Another innovative aspect of the 850 Moto Guzzi engine is the 170 mm diameter single dry plate clutch, providing a perfect transmission of torque and power with no jerkiness or hesitation. This increases robustness and reliability over time and decreases the load on the handlebar lever, for better controllability and riding comfort. The six-speed gearbox, precise and with a soft clutch, benefits from unprecedented ratios that make the most of the torque and engine power. The final transmission is carried out by a double-jointed drive shaft offset by the increased size and the bevel gear, which provides solid and reliable management of the powerful torque supplied by the twin engine. The cast aluminium swingarm has been designed and sized to support engine performance, as well as to accommodate the 150 mm tyre.

Chassis architecture: the quality of the Moto Guzzi tradition

Carlo Guzzi was probably the first to understand the importance of a frame able to exploit the full potential of the engine and a suspension unit that responds perfectly to the imperfections in the road surface. Indeed, the Norge GT of 1928 was the first motorcycle with a “spring frame”, equipped with front and rear suspension, bringing enormous advantages in terms of safety and riding pleasure. The Moto Guzzi tradition is full of models recognised for their excellent ride qualities: in terms of custom motorcycles, we should really mention the California, which in 1970, under the name V7 Police, was bought by the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) after a series of tough tests.

On the back of this tradition, Moto Guzzi now builds motorcycles like the V7 III and the fleet of the big 1400s, which are real benchmarks in terms of handling in their respective segments. The V9 is another jewel from Moto Guzzi for riding pleasure and effectiveness. The steel twin tube cradle frame, creates optimum weight distribution on the front and rear of the engine, thereby providing the rideability and dynamic balance typical of all motorcycles built at Mandello del Lario. The designers paid special attention to the front, which has gussets in the steering head and new slope and trail abilities, making for a superb ride with the perfect combination of handling and stability, as well as precision and feeling. In addition, the entire structure benefited from painstaking care and finishing of the details, including the welding and paintwork. The suspension systems use traditional long-travel (130 mm) forks and a pair of spring preload adjustable shock absorbers connected to the frame, which provide a gradual and controlled response at all times. The braking system is customised for the V9: the front end adopts a master cylinder and a Brembo opposed 4-piston calliper that grips a 320 mm steel disc; the rear mounts a 260 mm disc and a two-piston floating calliper operated by a master cylinder with built-in reservoir.

Equipment: all for safety and riding pleasure

Like all recent Moto Guzzis, the V9 also has a full set of advanced electronic systems, placed very discreetly inside the vehicle, making riding safer and easier. The motorcycles come with a standard advanced two-channel ABS, non-invasive in normal riding, but that prevent the wheels from locking when really needed and the well-known MGCT (Moto Guzzi Traction Control), Moto Guzzi’s advanced traction control integrated with the electronic engine management system and adjustable in two different levels of operation and that can be deactivated, ensuring better grip of the rear tyre on any road surface, reducing engine torque if necessary through a reduction of the advance of the engine. Other standard features include an immobiliser and USB port located under the steering head, useful for charging external devices.

The electronic instrumentation, made up of a single circular display, is also consistent with the style of the two the V9s. The speedometer has an analogue dial, while all other information is contained in the digital box: odometer, partial trip and daily trip (with automatic reset after eight hours after shutdown), the trip time, instantaneous and average fuel consumption, clock, outside temperature, average speed, MGCT level, in addition to the gear position and shift indicator, whose idle and maximum value can be adjusted by the user. In this way the rider can keep a check on a determined range of engine revolutions, for example for the run-in, or to minimise fuel consumption. The extensive catalogue of accessories includes the MG-MP, the Moto Guzzi multimedia platform that connects a smartphone to the vehicle to provide an exceptional quantity of information useful for the journey.

Moto Guzzi Media Platform connects the V9 to the world

An optional multimedia platform is available for Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber riders. MG-MP is the innovative multimedia system which allows you to connect the bike to your smartphone and consequently to the web. With this application, downloadable free from App Store and Google Play, your smartphone (iPhone or Android) becomes an actual sophisticated on board multifunctional computer and the link between the vehicle and the Internet.

The wireless connection allows you to simultaneously view a set of vehicle information on a smartphone screen, so you can constantly have an eye on the travel parameters. The smartphone’s touch screen allows you to view five parameters of your choice at a time, selected from a vast menu and including the speedometer, rev counter, instant power, instant torque, instant and average fuel consumption, average speed and battery voltage, longitudinal acceleration and extended trip computer. The “Eco Ride” feature helps to limit fuel consumption and to maintain eco-compatible riding conduct, providing a brief assessment of the results obtained during the trip.

You can record trip data and review it on your computer or directly on your smartphone, analysing the distance covered along with the vehicle’s operating parameters. The system also allows you to easily locate your vehicle when you park in a strange place, automatically saving the position where it was switched off. MG-MP includes the “Grip Warning” function which replicates the indications on traction control operation for maximum visibility and provides information in real time on your riding performance with relation to the road surface conditions. A dedicated indicator light warns in the event of excessive use of available grip. Thanks to the synergistic use of gyroscopes and the information coming from the vehicle, the smartphone becomes a sophisticated instrument to measure the lean angle in turns thanks to algorithms developed specifically for this Moto Guzzi. The limit thresholds can be set both for lean angle as well as vehicle and engine speed. When these limits are exceeded the relative indicator lights will come on or the virtual dashboard will flash.

Versions and colours

The MY 17 Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer is available in three different colour variants, all of them with a glossy finishGiallo Solare with an attractive black graphic on the mudguards and on the tank; Bianco Classico with an elegant red graphic on the mudguards and on the tank; Rosso Rubino with a pearl white graphic on the tank and on the mudguards.

Moto Guzzi Audace Carbon

Audace Carbon is the Moto Guzzi with the strongest and most rebellious character. It is a muscle-bike designed to emphasize the performance of the “Made in Mandello” 1400 cc big block. Audace Carbon boasts new finishing and improved on board ergonomics

No other Moto Guzzi expresses that dark soul already introduced on the Moto Guzzi V7 II Stone and reconfirmed by the majestic MGX-21 better than the Audace Carbon. Nothing more than absolute riding pleasure guided the development of a model based on the essentiality of the shapes where the best technology is at the service of fun.

AUDACE CARBON: THE MOTO GUZZI MUSCLE BIKE

Audace Carbon is the modern brazen interpreter of the Moto Guzzi rebel spirit, a brand with a unique personality that often goes against the flow. The history of the Larian eagle is riddled with unique choices: the transversal V 90, a skill for innovation, records in the sports field, the renowned 8 cylinder engine. Moto Guzzi has never been shy about showing its unique character. 95 years on it is still the same.

Ostentatious, muscular and fierce, the Moto Guzzi Audace Carbon can be picked out immediately by its front end, made stylistically lighter by the circular headlight unit and the real carbon elements such as the front mudguard mounted on a fork without any telescope covering and the sides of the tank.

The Audace Carbon has no chromium plating. Every mechanical detail, painted dark as night, is contrasted by the matt red colour chosen for the milled aluminium engine head covers, which in turn match the red colour of the Brembo front brakes. A model of striking beauty, to be enjoyed one-up in search of fun around corners or relaxation on more wide open roads.

Audace Carbon is the perfect representation of the second soul of the Moto Guzzi brand – urban dark. A dark soul made absolute in the spectacular MGX-21. Miguel Galluzzi, the designer in charge of the PADC (Piaggio Group Advanced Design Center) in Pasadena California, introduces the new Audace like this: “Moto Guzzi’s desire to grow is perfectly summed up in the strong and uncompromising character of the new Audace. I believe that this bike, today, speaks louder than any words about the more modern soul and future of the brand from Mandello. All you have to do is look at it and ride it and all your questions are answered. Sitting astride this imposing bike, starting the powerful V twin and riding down the road is all you need to understand what Moto Guzzi represents today. Audace is a perfect interpretation of the most genuine Moto Guzzi spirit.

The light strikes the lines of the Audace Carbon, revealing brand new and attractive details. Like the undersump lug that gives the side view a gritty look, the metallic radiator grille and the short, megaphone exhaust with die-cast aluminium support flange that, despite the outlaw look, is high-tech to contain polluting emissions. In fact, thanks to the use of a secondary air system and a specific catalytic converter, the Audace Carbon is Euro 4 approved.

In the name of essentiality, the platform footboards are gone here, as is the rocker gear shift control in order to make room for sportier footpegs mounted farther back and the classic gear shifter pedal. Particular attention was given to the more sporty saddle, covered in eco-leather with exposed red stitching, lowered in terms of the seating position.  The passenger section of the saddle is easily removable to give Audace Carbon an even more solitary style. The on board ergonomics have been revamped to increase comfort and riding pleasure. The drag handlebar has a different shape, with the ends lowered and extended toward the rider to provide a more convenient and dominating grip.

A particularly elegant feature is the new electric blocks on the handlebar, enhanced by the aluminium finishing, the red painted valve covers with milled details, the fully adjustable rear shock absorbers with separate gas bottle and the alloy wheels personalized with the Moto Guzzi logo. The left side electric block hosts the controls for the new Moto Guzzi cruise control. The system allows the selected speed to be maintained without acting on the throttle and the cruising speed to be increased or decreased by pressing the cursor button on the left side electrical control. The speed can be temporarily increased with a twist of the throttle. After the throttle is released, the cruising speed will be resumed. The system disengages automatically, not only when the rider brakes or presses the selector button, but also when the throttle grip is twisted in reverse. Once deactivated, the last cruising speed set can be resumed with the “resume” feature.

Powerful and aggressive, the Audace Carbon looks as if it is crouched down on its haunches like a large feline ready to unleash its explosive power to scratch the asphalt, leaving the mark of its oversize 200/60 rear tyre. The generosity of the 1400 cc “Made in Mandello” 90° V-twin is a quality which is well known by now and on the Audace Carbon, thanks to the exhaust system with painstakingly designed fluid dynamics, is even more spirited at high revs, up to a torque of 121 Nm at 3,000 rpm. As a result, thanks in part to an advantageous weight/power ratio, the Audace Carbon jumps off the line with unexpected vigour.

The Audace Carbon will certainly be the Moto Guzzi most used with the “Veloce” engine map, the most responsive and direct of the available three (the “Turismo” and “Pioggia” maps are also available) and the one where the adjustable MGTC traction control system will need to intervene most often. The large twin cylinder engine is the absolute benchmark in its category for engine capacity-performance-consumption ratio thanks to excellent thermodynamic performance. Electronic management has been further advanced, thanks to a new electronic throttle, now full Ride-by-wireThe system guarantees a more fine tuned and accurate throttle control, thereby allowing the engine to return a top shelf, smooth response, without being twitchy in opening and closing. The benefit for the rider translates into top level riding pleasure in any conditions of use.

THE MOTO GUZZI MEDIA PLATFORM CONNECTS AUDACE CARBON TO THE WORLD

MG-MP (Moto Guzzi Multimedia Platform), available as optional equipment, is the innovative multimedia system which allows you to connect the bike to your smartphone and consequently to the web. With this application, downloadable free from App Store and Google Play, your smartphone (iPhone or Android) becomes an actual sophisticated on board multifunctional computer and the link between the vehicle and the Internet.

The wireless connection allows you to simultaneously see important information about the vehicle on your smartphone screen so you will always have your trip parameters under control.

You can also store your trip data and review it later on your computer or directly on the app so you can analyse your route along with the vehicle performance parameters.

When the fuel reserve light comes on MG-MP indicates the location of the closest petrol stations; the system also helps you easily find the vehicle when you are parked in an unfamiliar area, automatically saving the position where it was last switched off.

MG-MP includes the “Grip Warning” function which replicates the indications on traction control operation for maximum visibility and provides information in real time on your riding performance with relation to the road surface conditions. A dedicated indicator light warns in the event of excessive use of available grip. Thanks to the synergistic use of gyroscopes and the information coming from the vehicle, the smartphone becomes a sophisticated instrument to measure the lean angle in turns thanks to specifically developed algorithms developed. The limit thresholds can be set both for lean angle as well as vehicle and engine speed. When these limits are exceeded the relative indicator lights will come on or the virtual dashboard will flash.

A VAST RANGE OF DEDICATED ACCESSORIES

Therefore, if you love your V7 but would like to freshen up its style, your Moto Guzzi retailer has a wide range of high-quality customisation parts that are specifically engineered for your bike.

Customisation is a labour of love, so Moto Guzzi has fine-tuned a complete line for enthusiasts that also includes four kits that draw from the history of the Eagle brand, but take inspiration from the latest trends, creating individual styles and distinct riding experiences, including:

DARK RIDER: a kit designed to create a “Gothic” look inspired by nocturnal and metropolitan settings. The accessories dedicated to this style include a black aluminium top fairing, aluminium side panels, aluminium mudguards, a black tank with the traditional red Moto Guzzi eagle, and wire wheels for a blacked-out look.

SCRAMBLER: made up of high quality aluminium satin finished parts, a high two-in-one exhaust, offroad knobby tyres, a cross brace handlebar and offroad footpegs for that offroad look and a strong personality. The long satin finish mudguards, the satin finish number plates the satin finish guards and the long vintage ’70s saddle are the elements that complete the transformation.

LEGEND: in the ’40s the Moto Guzzi Alce, a bike used by the Italian Army, was characterised by its reliability, sturdiness and great flexibility. The configuration that can be achieved with the parts from the Legend world allow you to reinterpret that extremely fascinating concept.

DAPPER: this includes a range of accessories developed and made to recreate the Café Racer world, replicating the racing style of the ’70s era through the creation of polished aluminium accessories (mudguards, injector covers, guards, number plates) and accessories such as the low semi-handlebar and the single-seat saddle that convey an attractive riding set-up.

These are the ideas of the Moto Guzzi designers but you can let your imagination run wild and mix and match items from each kit to create your own unique interpretation, along with many other accessories from the Moto Guzzi catalogue.

This is the area of the plant where the legendary twin cylinder engines are assembled by hand, one by one. Here a unique powerplant was born and made history with its exclusive architecture that marked the history of Moto Guzzi and the motorcycling world.

MOTORCYCLE ASSEMBLY LINE

Here is where the Moto Guzzi bikes take shape. Here the finished twin cylinder meets the motorcycle that will accompany it for the rest of its life. On the line visitors will be able to follow, step after step, operation after operation, the birth of that jewel of technology and fine Italian manufacturing that each Moto Guzzi has represented for more than 90 years.

WIND TUNNEL

Opened in the Mandello del Lario plant in 1950, this was the first example of a wind tunnel for aerodynamic motorcycle testing. A uniquely charming place, today it is the scene of a technological first and a glorious history that only a Moto Guzzi can possess.

TEST RIDES

This is a chance not to be missed for any motorcycle enthusiast: the opportunity to test the new Moto Guzzi machines, right here in the place where they were born, on the extremely charming roads that run along Lake Como.

The test bikes also include the magnificent California 1400, driven by the most powerful V-twin ever manufactured in Europe, the brand new Eldorado and Audace and the complete range of the best seller V7.
