New Reasons to Buy a Suzuki for 15 Registrations

The new ’15 registration prefix comes at an opportune time for new Suzuki customers, with new models and finance offers available across the range.

Following its press launch in Ireland last month, the new V-Strom 650XT is available in dealerships nationwide now with an RRP of £7,499, and builds on the already popular foundations laid down by the standard model, adding DID wire-spoke wheels, a new ‘beak’ for improved airflow to the radiator, hand guards, aluminium sump guard and engine bars as standard.

Also set to join the V-Strom 650XT in dealerships this year is the GSX-R1000 with added ABS for 2015. Regarded as one of the best road-going superbikes available, the GSX-R1000 is also available in the same stunning livery as the Japanese manufacturer’s GSX-RR MotoGP machine, with the firm returning to the blue-ribband class of motorcycle racing for the first time since 2011. All GSX-Rs come with a Yoshimura R11 exhaust as part of the deal too.

The updated Bandit 1250 will hit showroom floors toward the end of March, with the Address 110, Inazuma 250F, GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F also arriving in dealerships throughout the year.

On top of the new models hitting dealerships, the well-received 50/50 finance campaign makes purchasing a new ’15 plated Suzuki even easier. The offer provides even greater flexibility with customers able to pay half the cost of the bike upfront and pay the other half in two years’ time or, if they prefer, pay the remaining 50% in monthly repayments over 24 months. Both options are available interest free.

The 50/50 finance offer is available on both the V-Strom 650 and XT version, as well as the V-Strom 1000 Adventure, along with the Hayabusa and Hayabusa Z, GSR750 and the GSR750Z model, GSX1250FA, and Burgman 650 Executive, and runs until the end of March, 2015.

The revamped Ducati Riding Experience

  • Enrolments are now open for DRE 2015 courses (at dre.ducati.com)
  • Introduced a road riding course dedicated to the new Multistrada 1200
  • The new 1299 Panigale S will play a leading role on renewed track courses

The 2015 edition of the Ducati Riding Experience, the riding school that Ducati has been organising for over 10 years, is now taking enrolments.
The DRE has four distinguishing factors that put it in a class of its own:

  • a group of internationally renowned instructors from the worldwide racing community (such as official Ducati MotoGP test rider Michele Pirro, world Superbike champion Carlos Checa, two-times world champion Manuel Poggiali, official Ducati test rider Alessandro Valia and a host of other champions led by Dario Marchetti);
  • legendary racetracks such as Mugello and Misano;
  • tried and tested tuition methods that make use of advanced technology;
  • all-inclusive packages, thanks to a latest-generation bike pool and the availability of quality riding gear.

One of the most important developments for 2015 is the introduction of the Multistrada Techride course dedicated to the new Multistrada 1200. This is a full immersion riding course for touring and adventure enthusiasts. Held in the beautiful hills of Tuscany region, with base in Montepulciano (near Siena), the course programme lasts a day and a half and focuses on road-specific techniques as well as teaching the basics of off-road riding.

At the circuit, the first development for 2015 is the Intro course, suitable for those who are not habitual bike riders or new license holders who want to build up their confidence and bike control skills. The course takes place in the paddock and alternates individual practice sessions with theoretical lessons designed to illustrate the pillars, such as riding position, curves visualization, braking with ABS, and how to react in front of unexpected obstacles (the course does not include track sessions). Intro course participants will be riding the new Monster 821.

Again in the paddock, but with a final on-track session, the Precision course is for those looking to improve their on-road riding technique and enjoy a sports-oriented riding experience. This course uses the Monster 1200, the Hypermotard and the Hyperstrada.

There are four track riding courses: Track Warm-Up, Track Evo, Master and Champs Academy. The first is for newcomers to the track, the second for those keen to improve their track riding technique; on both courses riders will be using the Ducati 899 Panigale. The Master course is for more experienced track users eager to maximise their performance. The Champs Academy offers a full day as a professional rider with a truly exceptional instructor: World Superbike Champion 2011 Carlos Checa. Master and Champs Academy course participants will ride the new 1299 Panigale S.

Yamaha and Dainese Together for the Launch of the New R1M

Dainese and Yamaha have renewed their partnership at the global launch of the R1 and R1M. During the presentation to international media at Eastern Creek in Australia, Dainese unveiled the customised version of its D-Air® Racing air bag suits based on the colour schemes and style of the R1M.

Yamaha’s instructors will also use the air bag suits during YRE (Yamaha Racing Experience), the exclusive event dedicated to all European owners of R1M planned at four European circuits including Mugello, Spa, Brno and Nürburgring. During YRE events the Dainese will offer R1M owners the chance to take advantage of its ‘made to measure’ service.

The project linked closely with the launch of the R1M represents just one of the partnerships, which sees Dainese and Yamaha working together to enhance passionate rider safety.

Stefano Grasselli, sales director for Dainese’s D-air product line commented: “At this early stage of the agreement with a prestigious partner such as Yamaha, we are more than happy. To be here, alongside Yamaha at the launch of such an important model as the R1M, makes us extremely proud and drives us even harder to look for further forms of collaboration aimed at meeting our respective customer requirements while providing everyone with maximum safety and satisfaction”.

Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha Motor Europe marketing division manager, added: “I would say that it has been quite natural to work Dainese to enrich the available package around R1M. The bike itself gives the closest experience to a MotoGP bike a customer can buy and the Yamaha Racing Experience we’re offering to all R1M 2015 customers in July will enhance this link. Thanks to Dainese our R1M customers will also have the possibility to get a tailor-made R1M inspired racing suit with the innovative D-Air air bag technology. The best works with the best”.

Carlos Checa chooses the new Ducati Multistrada 1200

The new Multistrada 1200, presented last November at the World Ducati Premiere 2014, has won over not only the public of EICMA in Milan, but also a celebrated Ducatista: Carlos Checa. The Spaniard, who was World Champion in 2011 among the modified production bikes, riding a Ducati, expressed the desire to ride the new Italian multibike. The opportunity arose when production of the bike began, and Carlos took possession of the first model to come off the production line at the Borgo Panigale factory.

“I already had the first version of the Multistrada 1200 and I saw right away that this was my ideal bike. When I saw the new model at EICMA I literally fell in love with it,” said Carlos Checa during his visit to Borgo Panigale. “I realised immediately that the bike had been completely changed and had taken an important step forward in terms of technology, safety and performance. I asked if I could ride it and the moment has come at last. I’ve already ridden a few kilometres and that’s all I needed to notice that the new Testastretta DVT engine is a good step ahead in terms of functioning regularity and performance. The new electronic system, commanded by the inertial platform, has made it possible to introduce a lot of new elements such as ABS Cornering. I also really love the new instrumentation which provides multiple possibilities for connectivity, as well as the new handlebar controls which are more ergonomic and easier to use. For certain I’ll be riding a long way with my new Ducati Multistrada 1200”.

Carlos Checa and the new Multistrada 1200 were in Courmayeur last weekend, guests at the second appointment with the Winter Tour (the third stop will take place in Ischgl, Austria, 21-22 February, for info wintertour.ducati.com) and they’ll soon be taking part in other adventures to come.

The new Ducati Multistrada 1200 will be available in UK Ducati dealerships from the end of March.

As soon as it was launched back in 2010, the Multistrada 1200 revolutionised the motorcycling world by offering, for the very first time, nothing less than four bikes in one: from super sport to long-distance tourer, from everyday runabout to enduro. Now, Ducati’s technological expertise has produced a new generation of Multistradas, bikes featuring the latest Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine and a state-of-the-art technological package that sets a whole new standard in its product segment. The new Multistrada 1200 is the “multibike” par excellence, with cutting-edge technology making it far more than just the 4-bikes-in-1 offered by its Riding Modes.

In what is a first for the motorcycle industry, the DVT engine features a variable valve timing system with independent control of both the intake and exhaust camshafts. This optimises engine performance throughout the power range in all riding conditions, thus ensuring maximum power at high rpm, fluid delivery, punchy low-rpm torque and low fuel consumption in full compliance with the latest Euro 4 regulations.

The new Multistrada 1200 also sets a new electronics benchmark thanks to the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), developed by Bosch technicians, which dynamically measures roll and pitch angles as well as the acceleration on three axis; with this information, the Bosch IMU enhances both performance and safety. For example, the presence of the IMU enables the ABS to include a Cornering system capable of controlling braking even on bends where wheel lock could otherwise cause skidding. On the Multistrada 1200 S it also enables control the Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) in its full LED headlamp. Moreover, the Bosch IMU has allowed the introduction of Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC): this detects and corrects any front wheel lift to ensure maximum acceleration in complete safety. Like Ducati Traction Control (DTC), DWC features rider-settable 8-level sensitivity. Lastly, the Bosch IMU inertial platform also interacts with the semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution (DSS) control system featured on the Multistrada 1200 S.

VMAX Yard Built “INFRARED”

JvB-moto Celebrates 30 Years of VMAX with Yard Built ‘INFRARED’

2015 is a very special year for the legendary Yamaha VMAX as it celebrates its 30-year anniversary. The game-changing bruiser dropped jaws across the motoring world on its original launch in 1985 with its awe-inspiring power.

To mark the special occasion Yamaha has formed a new collaboration in the Yard Built world with cult German builder JvB-moto to create a fitting tribute to the iconic VMAX.

The Cologne based custom builder is a long-time fan of the VMAX, and credits the machine as one of the sparks that ignited his passion in motorcycles at the age of 15 in 1985. Despite not being available in Germany at the time due to its outrageous power it has inspired JvB-moto’s Jens vom Brauck to this day, where he has finally had the opportunity to pour that passion into this stunning creation.

JvB-moto’s vision for the VMAX Yard Built special was to transfer the stock VMAX into a radical dragster meets café racer concept, exaggerating the brutal power for all to see. A second key element in the design is a tribute to the 30-year history of the machine, encapsulating elements from the first roll out of the bike in 1985.

Starting at the front end, a custom-made aluminium mudguard sits below a JvB-moto signature style custom carbon fibre headlight unit integrated into the front forks and Motogadget indicators above custom carbon wheel covers.

Modified aftermarket clip-on bars add the café racer element and the rider looks down on an authentic American dragster rev counter by Autometer.

A beautiful custom carbon tank cover sits over a heavily modified airbox and electrics and is complemented by special air intake scoops crafted from stock aluminium units taken from the original 80’s VMAX.

The stunning craftsmanship continues with a handmade aluminium subframe crafted from bits of the stock unit and a custom fuel tank placed under the seat, also made from aluminium and holding the same fuel as the standard tank for an unspoiled riding experience.

The rear is beautifully finished with another JvB-moto signature piece, a custom carbon tail unit, handmade by Jens. A bike that looks this good needs the right sound and this machine doesn’t disappoint. The exhaust system is modified with a custom 4-1 collector and finished with a growling Termignoni silencer.

Last but by no means least is a beautiful paint job. Again reflecting the history of the bike, and of Yamaha, JvB-moto chose a retro colour scheme based on the livery of Yamaha’s 1985 GP team for real authenticity.

Every custom aluminium and carbon part on this Yard Built special was handmade by JvB-moto, perfectly blending the VMAX story with the German builder’s signature style.

“The Yamaha VMAX has been an icon without rival since it burst onto the streets in 1985 as the ultimate drag racer inspired street bike,” commented Shun Miyazawa, Product Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe. “It was immediately a favourite with fans across the world, not only in its standard form, but also as a base for personalization and customization. To respect the culture that has grown around this icon we’ve chosen to celebrate 30 years of the VMAX by working with three highly respected custom builders to create three VMAX specials that will inspire not just Yamaha, but also owners of the VMAX and those who maybe want to own one.

We’re starting this exciting anniversary build year with cult German builder JvB-moto. We are huge fans of his work, and feel his minimalistic, industrial

style fits well with the VMAX. The results are clear; the Yard Built ‘INFRARED’ pays homage to the origins of the VMAX but also hints at the performance of tomorrow.”

New for 2015 and fresh in the minds of many who visit the show will be the 1299 Panigale which has claimed some impressive reviews, with journalists extolling the virtues of the new Panigale; “one of the most exciting motorcycles I have even been fortunate enough to swing a leg over”, “It’s one of the most quick-steering motorcycles I’ve ever ridden,” “electronics that genuinely make you faster and the most user-friendly semi-active suspension system we’ve seen so far”.

This 205hp, 165kg Panigale is an impressive new member of the Ducati Superbike lineage featuring some of the latest electronics. The menu of features are extensive: New electronics kit with Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), riding modes (Race, Sport, Wet), Ducati Safety Pack (Cornering ABS, DTC) Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Braking Control, Ducati Quick Shifter up/down, auxiliary buttons to adjust DTC, DWC, EBC*.  There is also an automatic calibration system of the tyre size and final drive ratio, semi active Öhlins Smart EC suspension and steering damper*, lightweight forged aluminium wheels*, full LED headlight*, DDA+ GPS compatible and TFT instrumentation with indicator of lean angle.

Also on the radar of many visitors will be the new Ducati Scrambler brand, already an incredible sales success despite only being in dealerships a few weeks. All four versions will be on display on a separate dedicated stand – Urban Enduro, Classic, Icon and Full Throttle.

The new Multistrada is another new addition to the 2015 range sharing many of the electronic features of the 1299 Panigale such as DTC, DWC, EBC, IMU and riding modes. It also boasts Sky Hook Suspension*, Ducati Cornering lights*, Bosch-Brembo Cornering braking system and the Ducati Multimedia System* that connects the bike to a smartphone for user-friendly control of basic functions such as receiving incoming calls, notification of text messages, or playing music via the handlebar controls and on-dash info.

Ducati’s technological expertise has also produced this new generation of Multistradas with the latest Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine and a state-of-the-art technological package that sets a whole new standard in the segment.

The latest Monster range, only recently released last year, sees some new additions with the new stripe versions of the Monster 821 and Monster 1200 S. The stripe is characterised by a red colour scheme with a white double side-stripe on mudguard, tank and passenger seat cover. Both bikes have a red-painted nose fairing, while the Monster 821 Stripe is also equipped with adjustable forks and the Monster 1200 S Stripe with a Ducati Performance carbon undertail plate holder and belt covers.

For race fans there will be a race section featuring the Ducati British Superbike of the Lloyd British Moto Rapido team ridden by Jakub Smrz and an 899 Panigale which has been specially adapted by the True Heroes race team for double amputee Murray Hambro. Murray will form a three man team that will contest the Ducati TriOptions Cup for eight support rounds of the British Superbike Championship.

The Ducati stand will also feature the Ducati clothing from the latest 2015 collection.

See and Feel the KTM 2015 Street Range at London Excel in February

KTM will be showcasing the full 2015 Street range at the MCN London Motorcycle Show at ExCeL, Docklands, on February 13-15, along with having exciting demonstrations of its electric Freeride machines.

The Austrian manufacturer has released 12 new street bikes to its range since 2011, beginning with the 125 Duke, and now boasts a 14-strong road line-up with an eclectic mix of machines in naked, supersport or travel enduro styles, from 125cc to 1301cc. Brand new for 2015 from Europe’s biggest motorcycle manufacturer is the headline-grabbing 1290 Super Adventure and 1050 Adventure.

The 1290 Super Adventure redefines the standard for luxury touring on a motorcycle. Boasting features including 160hp, 140Nm, semi-active suspension, cornering lights, cruise control, optional hill hold control, this bike embodies superlative technology in every respect as far as its power, comfort and equipment goes – but of course with an explicitly dynamic touch.

The KTM 1050 Adventure is for riders who demand a travel enduro that delivers pure riding enjoyment in comfort over long distances with a chassis that can exploit the twisty routes or simply out manoeuvre traffic when escaping. Employing neither excessive equipment or performance; the 1050’s V-twin engine still matches the 1190 Adventure for power and torque up to its 95hp and can be electronically mapped to be A2 licence compliant.

Launched in Autumn 2014, the supersport RC range is also making a big impression on the UK’s roads. With Grand Prix-inspired styling, high-level specification components and innovative features, the RC 125 is suitable for riders aged 17 and above and is currently available with a free PowerParts promotion, encompassing an Akrapovič exhaust (rrp £464.32) and Neon graphics kit (rrp £93.95).

With 44hp, the RC 390 is a perfect combination of power and performance in a lightweight chassis. Ideal for experienced riders or those with an A2 licence. This exciting bike is also the basis for the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup, held within the British Superbike Championship, for riders aged 13-18.

The Duke range is more versatile than ever, packing naked attitude and tarmac aggression behind the wide bars and punchy single-cylinder engines of the 125, 390, 690 and the track-inspired 690 R variants. The 1290 Super Duke R takes the Duke spirit to insane levels of performance and specification; boasting 180hp, 144 Nm of torque and sophisticated electronic aids to keep the rear tyre gripping and the front wheel on the floor – if you want to.

KTM has also steamrolled into electric propulsion in 2015 with its Freeride E range, including the off-road E-XC and E-SX that will be joined by the road-going and A1 licence-suitable E-SM supermoto. Racers Jamie Whitham and Taylor Mackenzie will be utilising the performance of the E-XC as part of the Dockland-based show’s live action entertainment.

The show opens on February 13 with advance tickets starting from £15. For more information visit www.mcnmotorcycleshow.com

Suzuki Confirms Pricing on New Commuter Models

The Address 110 defines urban practicality, with its impressive 145MPG* figure, a kerb mass of just 97kg, and over 20 litres of under-seat storage. The stylish new scooter also boasts cutaway footboards, making it easy to stop around town, a rear brake locking system for use when parked, and an ignition cover which aids in security.

Performance comes from a new fuel injection system and redesigned piston skirts, while cast aluminium wheels with hollow cores boost handling capabilities.

The new scooter comes with an RRP of £1,799 while a number of optional accessories are also available, including a top box, hand guards, and tall windscreen.

The Inazuma 250F joins Suzuki’s on-road range for 2015, following the success of the naked Inazuma 250 launched at Motorcycle Live 2012.

The new F variant adds a fairing and screen for improved weather protection on longer journeys, all wrapped around an economical 248cc parallel twin capable of 85MPG* while also delivering enough punch for a spirited ride out of town.

The Inazuma 250F is available with an RRP of £3,999. Both the Address 110 and Inazuma 250F are expected in dealers in March.

Yamaha Introduce Special Edition VMAX Carbon

Back in 1985, the launch of the original Yamaha VMAX added a whole new dimension to the motorcycle marketplace. With its brutal drag-bike inspired styling and awesome acceleration, it offered customers the chance to experience a new level of performance. Not only that, but the VMAX was also instrumental in firing the imagination of a new generation of custom builders all over the world.

New VMAX Carbon
To mark 30 years since the arrival of the original VMAX, Yamaha’s Sport Heritage range is strengthened with the introduction of the exclusive VMAX Carbon. Based on the current 1,679cc 200PS V4 model, this iconic special edition combines outstanding musclebike performance with cutting edge style.

The VMAX Carbon’s tank cover, front and rear fenders and side covers are all manufactured from lightweight carbon fibre – and for an even more evocative V4 growl this special edition comes equipped with upswept Akrapovic slip-on mufflers. Available from February onwards, this high-specification VMAX Carbon offers exceptional value to those customers who want to own the most iconic musclebike ever built.

New Yard Built VMAX by JvB-moto
Yamaha is gearing up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original VMAX with the unveiling of a number of exotic new Yard Built specials. The first of these is being created by German builder Jens vom Brauck, who is working on his first ever Yard Built project – and Yamaha have commissioned other custom builders to create two more Yard Built specials for delivery around June and September 2015.

Better known as JvB-moto, Jens is already well into the build at his workshops near Cologne, transforming the VMAX into something worthy of its iconic status. Yard Built fans can expect to see a stripped back creation combining modern materials with a custom twist, that also pays homage to all that was good about design in the 80’s – the birthplace of the original VMAX monster muscle machine.

New Matt Grey VMAX with realigned price
To underline Yamaha’s ongoing commitment towards creative motorcyclists, the standard VMAX will be offered in a new Matt Grey version whose pure and neutral paint finish offers the ideal starting point for those customers wishing to create their own Yard Built special. From February 2015 the standard VMAX becomes available with a significantly reduced price.

Suzuki will return to the MCN Motorcycle Show at London’s ExCeL arena this February, with a host of new models taking centre-stage, including the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F.

Headlining the Intermot show in Cologne last year after their unveiling, the two new GSX-S1000 models boast an engine based on the iconic GSX-R1000 K5, but with new internals, as well as an all-new frame, switchable traction control with three modes, and ABS.

Also on display and new for 2015 is the V-Strom 650XT, which comes with DID wire-spoke wheels and styling based on the V-Strom 1000, plus hand guards, engine bars and sump guard as standard. The new V-Strom is available in dealerships now with an RRP of £7,499.

After covering 15,000 miles, the V-Strom 1000 that Bike Magazine rode from Peterborough in the UK back to the factory in Hamamatsu, Japan will be featured on the stand along with the new V-Strom 1000 Sport. The TL1000S that was assembled from brand new genuine parts at Motorcycle Live in November will also be on the stand.

The GSX-R1000 comes with optional ABS in 2015 and is available in the new MotoGP livery. The GSX-R750 and GSX-R600 are also available in the stunning MotoGP blue and will be on display, with all replicas coming with a Yoshimura R11 exhaust, double-bubble race screen, and other Yoshimura performance parts.

Completing the Suzuki range on display at the show will be the GSX1250FA, GSR750, Inazuma 250Z, Hayabusa Z – which comes with Yoshimura Hepta Force titanium silencers with carbon tip – the Intruder M1800RBZ performance cruiser, Burgman 650 Executive luxury scooter, and the award-winning RM-Z450 motocross machine.

As well as the 2015 model range, the latest lines from this year’s merchandise range will be on display, including the latest race team wear and popular heritage lines.

Three-time British Superbike champion John Reynolds will also make an appearance, stopping by the Suzuki stand on Saturday 14 February to meet and greet show-goers and talk about his racing career and development role.

Suzuki GB Marketing Manager, Rob Cooper, said, “We’re looking forward to getting back to the MCN London show this year. It’s an opportunity to see the new GSX-S models up close and in the metal, as well as the other new bikes on our stand. Plus bikes such as the TL1000S that was built from new parts at Motorcycle Live and the V-Strom 1000 Bike Magazine rode back to the factory add plenty of reasons to come and see us at the show.”

Suzuki GB will be supported by popular local dealers Motoden, Laguna Motorcycles, and John’s of Romford for the duration of the show, which runs from Friday 13 – Sunday 15 February, 2015. Suzuki can be found on stand M50, next to the live action zone.

KTM Adventure range 2015 gets into action

KTM unleashes an Adventure range stronger than ever with the arrival of the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE and KTM 1050 ADVENTURE to bolster the dynamic and newly refined KTM 1190 ADVENTURE and 1190 ADVENTURE R for 2015.

With over a decade of experience and development, the current Adventure range deploys some of the most sophisticated automotive technology combined with KTM’s ‘READY TO RACE’ philosophy to make these bikes more dynamic, safer and exciting than ever.

The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE lives up to its name by redefining the standard for luxury touring on a motorcycle. Boasting features including 160hp, 140Nm, semi-active suspension, cornering lights, cruise control, optional hill hold control, KTM powers into its new segment with a bike that embodies superlative technology in every respect as far as its power, comfort and equipment goes – but of course with an explicitly dynamic touch.

The KTM 1050 ADVENTURE employs neither excessive power nor equipment for those who demand a travel enduro that delivers pure riding enjoyment in comfort over long distances but with a chassis that can exploit the twisty routes or simply out manoeuvre traffic when escaping. With its V-twin engine beginning its life from the KTM 1190 ADVENTURE, the reduction in capacity comes without a decrease in fun – matching its bigger brother for power and torque up to its 95hp. For riders on an A2 licence, the 1050 can be restricted to meet these requirements

For such a dedicated range of bikes, KTM has launched a devoted microsite to these machines – www.ktmadventure.com. This is where riders can find out further details on the line-up, comparing the models to work out which Adventure is for them. The huge array of PowerParts enhancements and personalisation for these bikes can be investigated and riders can also share photos of their own adventures to help inspire others.

The 1050 Adventure and 1290 Super Adventure are available in February across the KTM dealer network.
