2024 Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin

Honda’s hard-charging off-road adventurer moves forward with extra low-down torque output for its 1084cc, twin-cylinder engine. A new option, the CRF1100L Africa Twin ES, offers Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) damping control and rear spring preload adjustment as well as heated grips and ACC socket. Both models share a redesigned upper fairing, seat unit and larger 5-way height adjustable screen, plus the addition of tubeless tyres. A full electronics package employs a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit to manage riding modes and HSTC as well as Cornering ABS, Wheelie Control, Rear Lift Control, USB port and standard fit cruise control. Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), including cornering detection functionality, remains a popular option, with refinements for 24YM. The full colour 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen incorporates Apple CarPlay®Android Auto® and Bluetooth connectivity. Four tailor-made Genuine Honda Accessory Packs – Urban, Rally, Travel and Adventure – are ready to create the perfect traveling partner.

  1. Introduction

It’s been well over three decades since the Honda XRV650 Africa Twin first rolled into Europe and while the motorcycle that now bears its name – launched for 16YM as the CRF1000L Africa Twin – was a brand-new machine from the wheels up, it fully inherited the essence and spirit of what made the original so popular.

It was the balance between power and light weight that was at the heart of the original bike’s appeal, just as it was for the new model. With its unique, athletic appearance, an enjoyable, usable engine and capable, comfortable chassis, the CRF1000L Africa Twin proved itself a true modern-day all-rounder and has been hugely popular with round-the-world adventurers, around-town commuters and weekend tourers alike, with over 85,000 units bearing the ‘Africa Twin’ name sold since its return.

18YM saw the Africa Twin, in both manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) form, receive Throttle By Wire (TBW) control plus 3 riding modes, expanded Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) options, and intake/exhaust development for improved engine response and sound. The platform also expanded: the Africa Twin Adventure Sports – with the same updates but featuring improved wind protection, greater tank range and longer-travel suspension – extended the machine even further into long-range territory.

For the 20YM, the introduction of a bigger capacity, longer stroke 1084cc engine marked another landmark in the evolution of the Africa Twin. The touring ability of the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports* was further enhanced by adding the option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension.

At the same time the CRF1100L Africa Twin itself was comprehensively redrawn with an aggressive, compact rally style and even sharper off-road focus. Alongside the increase in power and torque from the engine, it was also significantly lighter – in keeping with the first principles set out all those years ago. 22YM saw the Africa Twin gain refined DCT settings for smoother handling in 1st and 2ndgears and standard fitment aluminium rear carrier.

24YM denotes another major step forward in the model’s evolution with a new Electronic Suspension (ES) choice, more torque from the engine, further DCT improvements and enhanced equipment levels that build further appeal into an already supremely desirable and popular motorcycle.

  1. Model Overview

The 24YM CRF1100L Africa Twin carries a strong focus on core off-road ability, with the look and feel of a slim rally machine. For 24YM the 1,084cc parallel twin cylinder engine has been tuned – via intake, combustion and exhaust development – to produce more low and mid-range torque, and a 7% increase of peak torque to 112Nm; peak power remains at 75kW.

Two options are now available. The CRF1100L Africa Twin, with standard Showa suspension, and the CRF1100L Africa Twin ES, which features Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA). Showa EERA offers optimised damping in all riding conditions, as well as the ability to change rear spring preload on the move. The CRF1100L Africa Twin ES also includes an ACC charging socket and heated grips as standard, just like its CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports sibling.

Both Africa Twin variants share a rugged steel frame, CRF450R-derived aluminium swingarm, chassis geometry, suspension travel and ground clearance, all of which are unchanged. A new, but important addition for 24YM is the adoption of tubeless – rather than tubed – tyres, which allow for easier repairs without the need to remove the wheel.

Also, to make long-range road riding more comfortable, mounted to an updated, aggressively-designed front fairing, a new larger 5-way adjustable screen offers maximum forward visibility or increased wind protection depending on rider choice.

A six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) controls not only the 7-level HSTC but also 3-level Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS (with off-road setting), Rear Lift Control and DCT cornering detection. There are four default riding modes: URBAN, TOUR, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD.

Tailored for complete control, the riding position features a slim section seat, and high-set handlebars. Dual LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) give optimum visibility, improving safety and Cruise Control is a standard-fit.  A full colour Multi Information Display (MID) 6.5-inch TFT touch screen brings immersive engagement with the machine’s systems, plus Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto® and Bluetooth connectivity.

The 24YM CRF1100L Africa Twin will be available in three paint options that all feature bold ‘mountain’ graphics:

Grand Prix Red

Matt Ballistic Black Metallic

Pearl Glare White and Glint Wave Blue Metallic Tricolour (only available on the CRF1100L Africa Twin ES)

3 Key Features

3.1 Chassis

  • New option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERATM) suspension; standard Showa suspension remains available
  • Lightweight frame, with bolt-on aluminium subframe and light, rigid CRF450R-style swingarm for outstanding rear wheel traction and feel
  • Six-axis Bosch IMU control; cornering ABS provides sure-footed braking and features an off-road setting
  • 21/18-inch wheels now mount tubeless tyres

New for 24YM is a Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension option, with settings specifically developed for the CRF1100L Africa Twin ES. Proven on the Africa Twin Adventure Sports and featuring the same stroke as the standard bike (230mm front/220mm rear), the system automatically provides optimum damping force relative to the stroke speed.

It adjusts the damping level based on information from three sources: bike speed (from the ECU), the bike’s stance and attitude (from the Inertial Measurement Unit) and the fork behaviour (from the stroke sensor). The Suspension Control Unit makes adjustments to suspension behaviour within a mere 15 milliseconds (0.015 seconds) of these calculations being made.

The system’s flexibility means that damping adjustment can be programmed to change as the vehicle speed changes – allowing firmer damping at higher speeds, for example. In addition, it can adapt to specific circumstances such as ‘preparing’ the bike’s suspension for landing from a jump, or reducing ‘dive’ under hard braking.

Quite simply, Showa EERA means the rider can select low-speed ride comfort, high speed stability, sporting on-road performance and off-road response at the touch of the screen.

Five suspension modes are available:

MID sits between hard and soft, for easy handling in a wide range of situations. It is automatically selected with Urban riding mode.

HARD is stable, responsive and the firmest damping for two-up and fully laden touring. It is automatically selected with Tour riding mode.

SOFT offers a comfortable, secure ride on poor roads with lowest damping force. It is automatically selected with Gravel riding mode.

OFF-ROAD gives optimum dirt performance, with gradually increasing fork damping relative to stroke speed and firmer all-round rear shock damping. It is automatically selected with Off-road riding mode.

Whereas the above suspension settings are automatically selected according to the riding mode, in USER Riding Mode, the rider can adjust spring preload finely, through 24 steps, front and rear.

The standard fully adjustable Showa setup is also available; the 45mm cartridge-type inverted front forks offer long-travel bump absorption with internal damping settings that provide high-quality on and off-road performance. A cast aluminium top yoke and forged bottom yoke, joined by hollow aluminium stem shaft, clamp the fork legs with two bolts each top and bottom. The Showa rear shock features a 46mm cylinder and remote reservoir for stable damping control in even the most extreme off-road riding conditions. Spring preload can be adjusted via a dial on the shock body.

The strength and rigidity balance of the steel semi-double cradle frame revolves around outstanding off-road ability – at the same time reinforcing its all-round on-road manners. Rigidity around the steering head is optimised to enhance feel for front end grip; the main spars are slim and straight with no front cross pipe. Ground clearance is 250mm, with wheelbase of 1575mm and rake and trail of 27.5°/113mm. Wet weight is 231kg and 233kg for the ES (DCT 242kg/244kg).

A bolt-on aluminium subframe allows the CRF1100L Africa Twin to be narrow under the rider, at only 195mm which is crucial for easy ground reach. The lightweight aluminium swingarm – taking its direction from the design used by the CRF450R – maximises rear wheel traction and rider feel. The swingarm pivot points’ inner plates use 600MPa high-strength steel and the upper cross tube that connects them acts as the rear shock upper mount (through a pillow-ball joint) improving feel for rear wheel traction.

At the very heart of the Africa Twin’s all-round performance is a Bosch MM7.10 six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) tucked away at the centre of the machine, that measures – in real-time – roll angle/rate, pitch angle/rate and yaw angle/rate. It aids the management of rear wheel traction via TBW and HSTC, front braking grip through cornering ABS, front wheel lift through Wheelie Control and also adds Rear Lift Control. It is also integral to the functioning of the EERATM suspension.

The IMU takes in lean angle, deceleration (from front/rear wheel speed sensors) and incorporates the slip rate of the front and rear wheels to manage braking pressure through the ABS; likewise if it detects sudden rear wheel lift, it finely controls brake force to maintain stability. There is an off-road ABS setting and, when stationary the rear ABS can be cancelled completely for off-road riding if required.

Compact two-piece radial-mount four-piston calipers work dual 310mm ‘wavy’ floating discs through sintered pads. The rear 256mm ‘wavy’ disc features specific hole punching and shaping for optimal rear wheel control.

21 inch front and 18 inch rear (stainless steel) spoked wheels wear 90/90-21 and 150/70-18 – now tubeless rather than tubed, which allow for easier repairs without the need to remove the wheel. Metzler Karoo Street 90/90-21M/C 54H and 150/70-19-R18M/C 70H are approved as OEM tyres. Block pattern Michelin Anakee Wild 90/90-21M/C 54R TL and 150/70-18M/C 70R TL tyres are also approved for fitment.

3.2 Engine

  • 1,084cc, twin-cylinder engine generates an extra 7% torque at 112Nm peak, with stronger power and torque in the low to mid-rpm range
  • Compression ratio raised to 10.5:1, alongside development of ECU settings, valve timing, intake and exhaust
  • Unicam 8-valve head, semi-dry sump and slipper clutch

The 1,084cc, 8-valve parallel-twin engine produces 75kW @ 7,500rpm with peak torque increasing to 112Nm @5,500rpm (up from 105Nm @ 6,250rpm). Bore remains 92mm with 81.5mm stroke; compression ratio is now 10.5:1 (from 10.1:1). There are significant gains in output of both power – and especially torque – off the bottom and through the middle of the rev-range when compared to the previous model.

CRF1100L Africa Twin Power and Torque comparison

The airbox intake ducts go from 29mm diameter to 35mm, to draw in more air, while the two internal trumpets that feed air from the airbox are both an extra 65mm longer. 46mm throttle bodies feed the inlet ports and the bore and cylinder pitches are aligned to create a smooth air intake profile. There are new, optimised ECU settings and the injector angle delivers a direct spray into the twin-spark combustion chambers.

Honda’s SOHC Unicam valve train is a feature of the MX competition-specification CRF450R, and the low-set position of the cast camshaft contributes to the compact nature of the cylinder head and entire engine package; inlet valves are 10.1mm in diameter, exhaust valves 9.3mm. Valve timing has been revised to match the engine’s new tune. Aluminium cylinder sleeves save weight while the 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval create the engine’s desirable signature ‘throb’ and character.

The crankcases are split horizontally; the water pump is housed efficiently within the clutch casing with a thermostat integrated into the cylinder head. Manual and DCT versions of the engine share common crankcases with only minor external differences; the water and oil pumps are both driven by the engine’s balancer shafts.

The engine features a semi-dry sump design with in-tank lower crankcase oil storage. This allows a lower pan depth that keeps overall engine height low. As the pressure-fed pump is located within the tank where it delivers its oil from, there is no need for a pressure-feed passage. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the mutually reciprocating motion of the pistons, while primary inertial and coupling vibrations are cancelled by the use of biaxial balance shafts.

The aluminium clutch centre and pressure plate use ‘assist’ cams to ease upshifts and ‘slipper’ cams for deceleration and downshifting. The six-speed manual gearbox uses the same shift-cam design as found on the CRF450R to ensure positive changes.

The exhaust muffler has been updated internally to match the changes on the intake side and improve driveability. Lighter than the previous design its new internal structure delivers enhanced engine performance and gives a pleasing exhaust note ‘pulse’ at lower rpm. Another 24YM revision is a tune of the high-rpm sound for a more ‘bass’ filled note.

3.3 Engine & Chassis Management Electronics

  • IMU-managed HSTC intervention levels allow focus on off-road use
  • Wheelie Control features 3 levels and IMU management
  • Four riding modes: TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD
  • Two USER modes allow for complete customisation

Throttle By Wire (TBW) management and the six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) are at the heart of the electronic package. The system – updated for 24YM with refined feel – offers 4 levels of power and 3 levels of engine braking. There are seven levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with each level’s amount of intervention being optimised to work with real-time input from the IMU. The spacing of the levels is optimised to allow the rider a finer choice of the amount of rear tyre slide for off-road riding. HSTC can also be turned off completely.

Wheelie Control is another feature. With the IMU measuring pitch angle and rate, and controlling engine torque via TBW, the rider can choose between 3 levels of input. Level 1 allows for intended wheel lift but suppresses any sudden movement. Level 3 stops any front wheel elevation and level 2 is mid-way between the two. Like HSTC, Wheelie Control can also be turned off completely.

There are four default riding mode settings: TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD to cover most riding conditions and situations plus two further customisable USER settings. Even within the default riding modes, it’s possible to change some parameters – HSTC between levels 1-7 (plus off), Wheelie Control between levels 1-3 (plus off) and DCT S mode shift pattern levels 1-3.

TOUR employs the highest level of Power (1), for touring with pillion and luggage plus mid-range Engine Braking (2) with active on-road Cornering ABS.

URBAN suits wide-ranging riding requirements and uses mid-level Power (2) and Engine Braking (2) with active on-road Cornering ABS.

GRAVEL delivers the lowest level of Power (4) and Engine Braking (3). Cornering ABS is active with an off-road setting; in this setting, the rear brake ABS cannot be switched off.

OFF-ROAD uses lower-mid level Power (3) and the lowest amount of Engine Braking (3). Cornering ABS is active with an off-road setting; the rear brake ABS can be switched off.

USER 1 & 2 modes offer the rider a choice of two distinct personalized setups – choosing between Power levels 1-4 and Engine Braking 1-3, plus HSTC, Wheelie Control and ABS (on-road/off-road) parameters. USER 1 starts out with level 2 Power and Engine Braking, USER 2 uses level 4 Power and 3 Engine Braking.

3.4 Dual Clutch Transmission

  • ‘Easy and direct’ system offers super-fast gear changes in either Manual Transmission (MT) or Automatic D and S modes
  • Updated for smoother, more natural feel when first moving away and at low speed
  • S mode (with 3 levels) revs higher and downshifts sooner than D, for more aggressive riding
  • G Switch offers more feel for traction off-road
  • Incline detection adapts shift pattern depending on gradient
  • IMU allows corning detection function for improved shift timings

Honda has sold over 240,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the marketplace, in 2023 DCT versions of CRF1100L Africa Twin accounted for 49% of the model’s sales.

For 24YM, the CRF1100L Africa Twin’s DCT has been developed to give a much more natural, ‘feathered’ clutch feel on initial take-off and between first and second gears. This has been achieved by improvements to the hydraulic control to equal better clutch response.

The system has been adjusted to make use of the engine’s increased torque, shifting down earlier. It also uses cornering detection – when the IMU recognises the bike is leant over it subtly adjusts the shifting programme for the most natural gear changes. This function too has been improved for 24YM.

DCT delivers consistent, super-fast seamless gear changes, and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears: the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages.

The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth.

The extra benefits of durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear), impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and greater ability to focus on cornering lines and braking points add to DCT’s appeal.

Three modes of operation are available. MT mode gives full manual control, allowing the rider to shift with the handlebar trigger control buttons. Automatic D mode is ideal for city and highway riding and achieves optimum fuel efficiency. Automatic S mode offers three levels of sportier riding, with the ECU making the engine rev a little higher before shifting up, and shift down sooner when decelerating for extra engine braking.

In either D or S mode, DCT offers immediate manual intervention if required – the rider simply selects the required gear using the up and down shift triggers on the left handlebar. At an appropriate time, DCT seamlessly reverts back to automatic mode, depending on throttle angle, vehicle speed and gear position.

DCT for the CRF1100L Africa Twin is also fully equipped to operate in an adventure environment, with off-road functionality enhanced by the ‘G switch’ accessed via the TFT touch screen display. Activating the ‘G switch’ in any riding mode improves the feel for available traction and machine control by reducing the amount of clutch slip during gear changes. Further functionality for the DCT system comes in the form of incline detection, adapting the gear shift pattern depending on the grade of an incline to provide optimum control.

3.5 Styling & Equipment

  • New 5-way height adjustable screen and upper fairing extend on-road comfort
  • Africa Twin ES gains heated grips and ACC charging socket
  • Compact body style designed for off-road, with slim seat and high handlebars
  • Multi Information Display (MID) 6.5-inch TFT touch screen, Apple CarPlay®and Android Auto® compatible
  • Bluetooth connectivity, Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Cruise Control

Aggressive and compact. Two words that sum up the CRF1100L Africa Twin’s taut rally-style bodywork. And it’s for a reason – to work better off-road. It’s been redrawn a little sharper for 24YM, with a new front fairing and rear seat unit. Plus, the addition of a new, 5-stage height adjustable screen makes longer road rides, or commuting in and out of town, more comfortable.

The CRF1100L Africa Twin ES also gets heated grips and an ACC charging socket as standard for increased practicality.

As before, seat height adjusts between two settings, 850/870mm and the high-set handlebars give an upright, high-visibility riding position and comfortable control, whether standing or seated. The tail section is extremely slim, and the narrow seat is carefully contoured to allow good ground reach and easy back and forth movement while an aluminium rear carrier is standard fit for convenient carrying ability.

Holding 18.8L, the fuel tank offers a potential range of over 380km, thanks to fuel economy of 4.9L/100km 20.5km/l in both MT and DCT (WMTC mode).

Dual LED headlights are set high, delivering a penetrating beam, and also feature Daytime Running Lights (DRL) that automatically adjust to ambient light intensity, improving safety, no matter the conditions. Knuckle guards are standard.

The full colour Multi Information Display (MID) 6.5-inch TFT touch screen keeps the rider in control of all of the CRF1100L Africa Twin’s systems, with each of the riding modes selectable through the top left of the screen. The MID can also be customised to show various levels of information relative to the riding mode chosen and is easy to use even when wearing gloves.

The MID also incorporates Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®, allowing use of a smartphone through the touchscreen. Navigation apps can also be accessed and displayed, and, via a Bluetooth helmet headset, calls can be made or received. The smartphone itself plugs into a USB charging port on the right of the MID. Hands-free wireless Bluetooth connectivity is also an option and all control inputs are made from the left-hand switchgear.

The front and rear indicators have an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function. When braking suddenly over 50kph the hazard lights flash to warn other road users a hard stop is in process. They also auto-cancel; rather than using a simple timer, the system compares front and rear wheel speed difference and calculates when to cancel the indication relative to the situation. The auto-cancel feature can be switched off and standard-fit cruise control eases long-distance highway travel.

A new high-performance, lightweight and compact lithium-ion battery is standard fit, contributing to mass centralisation.

More performance, increased practicality and new looks from Honda’s Africa Twin

More performance, increased practicality and new looks for the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

For 2024, Honda’s premier adventure bikes – the CRF1100L Africa Twin and CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports – benefit from a substantial performance increase, new technologies and updates that further enhance their core abilities and desirability.

The much-loved 1084cc parallel twin engine remains at the heart of the Africa Twin family and for 24YM it benefits from significant performance increases in both power and torque in the low and middle rev ranges. Peak power remains at 75Kw, but a 7% increase in maximum torque, now 112Nm, is delivered earlier at 5,500rpm rather than 6,250rpm. The compression ratio goes from 10.1:1 to 10.5:1, which alongside changes to the valve timing, intake ports and ECU settings allows the engine to draw more performance from each stroke.

CRF1100L Africa Twin Power and Torque comparison
Additional changes to the exhaust system also contribute to the increase in performance, with an new muffler delivering a pleasing pulse note at lower RPM and stronger bass tone as revs increase.

Both models will be available with either a manual or a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). Honda has sold over 240,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. For 2024, the DCT system on the Africa Twins has been refined to benefit from the engine’s increased performance, shifting down earlier. The system also benefits from improved cornering detection and now features a more natural ‘feathered’ feel on initial take off and between first and second gears for increased feel and rider feedback.

Last year the Africa Twin pair was Honda’s best-selling motorcycle, and 49% of CRF1100L Africa Twin owners, rising to 71% of CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports owners, selected the option of Honda’s unique DCT.

2024 Africa Twin

CRF1100L Africa Twin
Headlining the chassis updates – the athletic, lightweight and sporty CRF1100L Africa Twin will now be available with Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA™) as an option, featuring suspension settings specifically developed for the bike. Only available previously on the Adventure Sports, Showa EERA™ offers optimised damping in all riding conditions, as well as the ability to change rear spring preload on the move via the 6.5in touchscreen display. Available in 5 modes – SOFT, MID, HARD, OFF-ROAD and USER, the system’s flexibility means that damping adjustment can be programmed to suit the rider’s preference at the touch of a button,

Keeping its off-road performance-focused 21in front wheel, the CRF1100L Africa Twin now features tubeless Metzler Karoo Street tyres as standard fitment, that allow for swift puncture repairs when riding without the need to remove a wheel. When the rider wants to head fully off-road, block pattern Michelin Anakee Wild tyres are also approved for use.

To make long-range road riding more comfortable, mounted to an updated, aggressively-designed front fairing, a new larger 5-way adjustable screen, offers maximum forward visibility or increased wind protection depending on rider choice.

The CRF1100L Africa Twin will be available in Grand Prix Red and Matt Ballistic Black Metallic. As well as being available in the same colours, the CRF1100 Africa Twin with Showa EERA™ will also be on sale in a third colour called Pearl Glare White and Glint Wave Blue Metallic Tricolour and will feature heated grips and an ACC socket as standard.

2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sports

CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports
The continent-crossing CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports – which in 2022 accounted for 56% of Africa Twin sales in Europe – also benefits from a series of performance and practical updates for 24YM that further enhance its on-road, long distance appeal.

The most obvious change over the previous model is a substantial update to the front end. Led by the addition of a new 19in front wheel, suspension stroke from the now standard Showa EERA™ has been reduced by 20mm. Alongside the fitment of a wider front tyre, these combine to give the rider more front-end grip and feedback, especially when fully loaded or two up, without dramatically compromising off-road performance. This change to the front end also lowers the centre of gravity of the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, contributing to improved low speed manoeuvrability and ground reach.

Designed for the long-range ride, the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports has had its front fairing aggressively redesigned to improve upper body wind deflection and aerodynamics. Like its sibling, it features a 5-level height adjustable screen. The seat is new and uses a +15mm thicker urethane foam cushion with optimised density to reduce long-distance riding fatigue.

The CRF1100L Africa Twin will be available in Matt Ballistic Black Metallic and Pearl Glare White Tricolour.

Since their capacity increase to 1100cc in 20YM, approximately 20,000 CRF1100L Africa Twin and 25,000 CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports have been sold across Europe, and since its return for 2016, over 85,000 models with the legendary Africa Twin name have been registered.

The new BMW R 1300 GS

The new BMW R 1300 GS: “Next level GS” featuring new boxer engine and new suspension, with significantly reduced weight and increased GS competence all round.

BMW Motorrad established the new segment of touring enduros more than four decades ago with the R 80 G/S. The BMW GS with boxer engine has been the undisputed leader of the competitive field ever since. To ensure this remains the case in the future, BMW Motorrad has opted for an almost completely new design for the new R 1300 GS, with an impressive weight saving of 12 kg compared to the previous model.

The centrepiece is once again the legendary two-cylinder boxer engine. Its new design is more compact than ever before thanks to a gearbox located under the engine and a new camshaft drive arrangement. From exactly 1 300 cc it produces an output of 107 kW (145 hp) at 7 750 rpm, developing a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6 500 rpm. This makes it by far the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever to be produced in series.

At the centre of the new suspension is the sheet metal shell main frame made of steel, which in addition to being significantly optimised in terms of installation space also offers higher levels of stiffness than the predecessor model. For the rear frame, the previous tubular steel structure has now been replaced with a die-cast aluminium construction. The new EVO Telelever front wheel guide with flex element and the revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guide also provide even greater steering precision and ride stability.

New electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) as optional equipment ex works, with dynamic adaptation of the damping and spring rate, and also load compensation.
The previous Dynamic ESA Next Generation electronic suspension itself provided a high level of ride safety and riding fun on a wide variety of terrains with its dynamic adjustment of the damping and adjustable spring rest at the rear. The new electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) now goes one step further, combining the dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with a corresponding adjustment of the spring rate (“spring stiffness”) – depending on the selected riding mode, riding condition and manoeuvres. The automatic adjustment of the spring rest ensures load compensation. This makes for an even more thrilling riding experience on all surfaces. Whether solo, in pairs or with bulky luggage – DSA ensures an even higher level of ride safety, performance and comfort.

Adaptive vehicle height control and sports suspension as optional equipment ex works.
Exclusively in conjunction with DSA as optional equipment ex works, two further items of optional equipment are available for the suspension of the new R 1300 GS: the new adaptive vehicle height control and the sports suspension.

With adaptive vehicle height control, the new R 1300 GS offers fully automatic adjustment of the vehicle height depending on the operating condition, thereby ensuring the greatest possible comfort without having to compromise on riding dynamics and banking freedom.

With 20 mm more spring travel at the front and rear and an optional athletically firm sports suspension specially developed for the GS, off-road riders are well catered for here.

Four riding modes now standard. “Enduro” riding mode for an enhanced off-road riding experience.
Even in standard trim, the new R 1300 GS now has four rather than three riding modes for adaptation to individual rider preferences. The “Rain” and “Road” riding modes allow riding characteristics to be adapted to most road conditions. With the “Eco” riding mode it is possible to achieve the maximum range on a single tank of fuel, while the additional riding mode “Enduro” enables an enhanced riding experience off the beaten track with a specific set-up for off-road use.

Matrix LED headlamps with innovative design as standard, state-of-the-art LED light units all round with turn indicators integrated in the hand protectors and Headlight Pro as optional equipment ex works.
BMW Motorrad is regarded as the pioneer par excellence when it comes to motorcycling safety and related innovations. Accordingly, the new R 1300 GS offers a new, very small full LED headlamp with a novel, distinctive light icon as standard. This illuminates the road with a hitherto unrivalled clarity, thereby ensuring even better perception in traffic. The light unit consists of two LED units for low and high beam along with four additional LED units for the daytime running light and the side light. State-of-the-art LED light units with newly designed LED turn indicators – integrated in the hand protectors at the front, function-integrated at the rear – round off the lighting concept of the new R 1300 GS. With the optional equipment item “Headlight Pro”, the beam of the standard full LED headlamp turns into the bend according to the banking position. In this way, the bend is almost fully illuminated because the light moves to where the motorcycle is heading.

Riding Assistant with Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Change Warning (SWW) for safe and convenient motorcycling.
The new BMW R 1300 GS features the new Riding Assistant option, consisting of the components Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Change Warning (SWW). Active Cruise Control (ACC) with integrated distance control can be used to set the desired riding speed as well as the distance to the vehicle in front. Front Collision Warning (FCW) with brake intervention is designed to prevent collisions and help reduce the severity of accidents, while Lane Change Warning monitors the lanes to the left and right and can help ensure a safe lane change while supporting use of the rear mirror.

The new R 1300 GS: the very highest level of touring and off-road expertise in an attractive basic variant along with the variants Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Tramuntana.
The new R 1300 GS features an entirely new design which is based on the traditional GS flyline while at the same time reflecting extreme compactness and significant weight reduction.

With a new aluminium fuel tank that has a much flatter ramp than on the predecessor models, the flyline is largely responsible for the very dynamic, light and accessible appearance of the new R 1300 GS. Here it was also possible to add a very sporty and dynamic accentuation by means of the continuous texture in the fuel tank centre cover.

The basic variant of the new BMW R 1300 GS perfectly embodies what the BMW Motorrad development team has endowed the GS legend with: compact arrangement of the components, high functionality of the equipment – and everything focused on the essentials. In Lightwhite solid paint and in conjunction with its sharply drawn lines and very clean appearance, the new R 1300 GS has a muscular appearance and embodies the boxer GS theme in pristine style.

TripleBlack is a model variant of the boxer GS that has been popular for many years. In this colour scheme, the new BMW R 1300 GS has a masculine attitude combined with exclusive surfaces.

The basic finish Racingblue metallic sets the tone for the model variant GS Trophy. With red and white tapes and inscriptions combined with a rear frame coated in white metallic matt, the GS Trophy stands for the very highest level of performance and sporty off-road riding.

The new R 1300 GS shows its exclusive and technically sophisticated side in the model variant Option 719 Tramuntana. This combines cross-spoke wheels in gold with a high-quality paint finish in Aurelius Green metallic and sophisticated milled aluminium parts.

The 2024 Honda NT1100

Debuting for 22YM and taking the heart of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a starting point, the NT1100 is a new breed of Honda tourer which offers comfortable, agile, enjoyable performance. A low seat height and sharp steering geometry combine with high specification suspension to create a sporting package. 5-way height and angle adjustable screen and upper/lower wind deflectors ensure high-speed aero efficiency and outstanding weather protection; cruise control is standard, as are slim panniers and heated grips. Rider aids include 3 default riding modes, 2 USER custom options, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Wheelie Control. Radial-mount four-piston front calipers provide the braking power, 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 front and rear tyres the grip. A 6.5-inch TFT touch screen rounds out a premium specification and features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity.

For 24YM the NT1100 will be available in two new striking colour options – Matt Jeans Blue Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red.

  1. Introduction

In a motorcycling landscape full of adventure-styled bikes many riders desire performance, handling, long range comfort, and technology but not necessarily the image or physical dimensions of ‘adventure’. In other words, what they want is a straightforward touring machine, but one with a rich specification list and a sporty edge to its performance – the sort of bike that deals with the weekday commute efficiently and usefully and is also ready for an extended tour, fully loaded.

The NT1100 is precisely that bike. Introduced in 2022 it’s designed to draw those with a long memory of similar Honda machines of the past, but also attract a much younger rider. Employing the frame and characterful twin-cylinder engine of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a base, engaging performance is assured. But the NT1100 is also packed with features and technology that build and broaden any motorcycle’s appeal.

With this combination of performance and rich specification, it’s no surprise that the NT1100 was Europe’s most popular Touring bike in 2023 so far, with nearly 12,000 models sold since its introduction.

For 24YM, two new striking paint options further add to its wide-ranging appeal.

  1. Model Overview

Comfortable, agile, enjoyable. The NT1100 in a nutshell. Sleek, subtle styling delivers efficient aerodynamic performance with a riding position tailored for touring. Screen height and angle are 5-way adjustable and upper and lower wind deflectors also work to protect the rider. A 6.5-inch TFT touch screen provides full colour, customisable displays and offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity. Cruise control, heated grips and sizable integrated panniers are standard equipment. A centre stand is also standard fit.

The NT1100’s steel semi-double cradle frame employs a relatively short wheelbase and sharp steering geometry while suspension is via 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks and single-tube rear shock. Rear spring preload adjusts hydraulically. Dual 310mm front discs are paired with 4-piston radial-mount calipers; tyres are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.

It also features full-fat performance from the twin-cylinder engine (inherited from the Africa Twin) but with intake and exhaust tuned for super-smooth acceleration and a pleasing low-rpm sound. The performance does not come to the detriment of fuel economy: the engine’s efficiency allows a 400km range from the 20L fuel tank.

The electronic package includes 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Wheelie Control, full LED lights, self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals. And, finding a natural home in the NT11000, Honda’s six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is an option.

For 24YM, the NT1100 will be available in the following colour options:

**NEW** Matt Jeans Blue Metallic with Matt Ballistic Black Metallic rear carrier

**NEW** Candy Chromosphere Red with Matt Ballistic Black Metallic rear carrier

Matt Iridium Gray Metallic with **NEW** Matt Ballistic Black Metallic rear carrier

24YM HONDA NT1100
  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Sleek styling offers excellent aerodynamic performance
  • 5-stage screen height and angle adjustment plus upper/lower wind deflectors
  • Panniers standard equipment, as are heated grips and cruise control
  • 5-inch TFT touch screen includes Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto® and Bluetooth connectivity
  • USB socket, centre stand and ACC socket as standard

The NT1100 has been designed, from the outset, as a sporting, agile bike but one that’s also enjoyable to ride all day with efficient, protective aerodynamics and easy-going ergonomics centred around rider comfort.

Styling is subtly sophisticated with straightforward surfaces that emphasise key character lines. Dynamic elegance front to back are the defining features of the design language of the NT1100. And of course, this motorcycle’s sleek form is also about function – aimed to elevate the quality of the riding experience.

Fitted as standard, upper and lower deflectors provide wind and weather protection around arms and lower body. The screen offers 5-stage adjustment for height and angle through a total 164mm between the high/low position. Set low, it sends air around the shoulders; set high it moves air over the rider’s helmet. Heated grips are standard equipment, as is cruise control.

The rider integrates into the machine neatly, enveloped by the protection offered by the fairing. A wide, thick seat material offers a luxurious expanse for two; seat height is set at 820mm. A large grabrail for the passenger extends from the rear rack.

The exhaust muffler too is set low to maximise pannier volume. And it’s the standard-fit, detachable panniers that are one of the NT1100’s key features. Deliberately designed to be as slim as possible for around-town riding they are just 901mm across at their widest point. Pannier volume is at 33L left and 32L right.

Bright and easy to read, the 6.5-inch TFT touch screen offers 3 choices of screen display; GOLD shows all numeric and mode information. SILVER centres on the speedometer and rev-counter, BRONZE on the rev-counter. The background colour has a default setting plus the choice of black or white. Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto® and Bluetooth connectivity allows access to smartphone functions via the TFT display.

The premium specification is rounded out by full LED lights – with Daytime Running Lights (DRL) – self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals; practicality is further elevated by USB socket, centre stand and ACC socket as standard.

3.2 Chassis

  • CRF1100L steel semi-double cradle frame and bolt-on aluminium subframe
  • Sharp steering geometry and high spec suspension front and rear
  • Showa 43mm inverted front forks and rear shock with hydraulic preload adjustment
  • Dual 310mm front discs and 4-piston radial-mount calipers

The NT1100’s underpinnings are well-proven and tough – the Africa Twin CRF1100L’s steel semi-double cradle frame and bolt-on aluminium subframe. To suit the all-round, sporting purpose of the NT1100, the off-road ready suspension of its sibling has been replaced by road-focused equipment matched to sharper steering geometry.

The 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks feature 150mm travel and are preload adjustable. Like the forks, the single-tube pressurised Showa rear shock offers 150mm axle travel; it uses a 14mm diameter rod. To make carrying a pillion and/or luggage easier spring preload adjusts hydraulically, and remotely.

The wheels are aluminium, fine die-cast with a sand core allowing a hollow hub centre for the front. An intersecting spoke design (with the spokes attaching to the rim diagonally) offers several benefits: it smooths road vibration in a straight line and offers high rigidity for cornering. Tyres are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.

Wheelbase is set at 1535mm, with rake and trail of 26.5°/108mm and 175mm ground clearance. Kerb weight for the NT1100 with manual transmission is 238kg, 248kg with DCT.

Dual 310mm front discs are squeezed by lightweight, 4-piston radial-mount calipers. The rear 256mm disc uses a 1-piston caliper. All braking is ABS-controlled.

3.3 Engine

  • 1,084cc SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine
  • Power and torque output of 75kW/104Nm
  • Intake and exhaust tuned to deliver smooth, powerful acceleration and pleasing low-rpm ‘throb’

The 1,084cc SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine is the well-proven unit from the CRF1100L Africa Twin, with peak power of 75kW @ 7,250rpm and 104Nm @ 6,250rpm peak torque. Compression ratio is identical at 10.1:1. Another shared feature is the 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval.

Throttle By Wire (TBW) provides engine management and PGM-FI feeds the throttle bodies. Where the engine tune differs to the Africa Twin – and immediately noticeable to the rider – are the optimisation of both air intake duct length and muffler internals to produce a pleasing, low-rpm ‘throb’ and smooth, powerful acceleration married to relaxed highway cruising – perfect for the wide-ranging duties the NT1100 is built for.

The crankcases are split horizontally, and the water pump is housed within the clutch casing with a thermostat integrated into the cylinder head. Manual and DCT versions of the engine share common crankcases with only minor external differences. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the mutually reciprocating motion of the pistons, while primary inertial and coupling vibrations are cancelled by the use of biaxial balance shafts. The water and oil pumps are driven by the balancer shafts.

A crank pulsar – with relator teeth spaced at 10° intervals – manages misfire detection, important for OBD2/EURO5 compliance. In addition, Linear Air Flow (LAF) sensors in the downpipes give accurate measurement of the air/fuel mixture ratio.

3.4 Engine Electronics

  • 3 default riding modes to choose from, plus two customisable USER modes
  • 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control
  • 3-level Wheelie Control

TBW manages engine performance and character, plus Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Wheelie Control. There are 3 pre-set modes for the rider to choose covering a wide variety of riding conditions and 3 levels of management for Power and Engine Braking, with level 1 delivering the maximum of either parameter. For HSTC and Wheelie Control level 3 provides the highest intervention.

Mode selection is managed from the left-hand switchgear; an indicator in the instrument display activates when HSTC is working.

URBAN is standard and offers an all-round middle setting of engine power and engine braking.

RAIN reduces engine power and engine braking for extra reassurance on wet or slippery surfaces.

TOUR gives full engine power and standard engine braking, for strong acceleration while carrying a pillion and luggage.

USER 1 and 2 modes offer the ability to customise between the settings for the preferred combination. Once set, the USER setting is automatically stored so there’s no need to re-set each time the ignition is turned on.

3.5 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

  • DCT offers choice of Automatic (AT) or Manual Transmission (MT)
  • 3-levels of S mode for wide-ranging sporty AT shifting performance

Honda has sold over 240,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the marketplace, since the NT1100’s introduction, 66% of customer have chosen the DCT option over the manual. The system delivers consistent, seamless gear changes and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears, the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Extra benefits include durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear) impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and – crucially – the ability to concentrate more on riding lines, braking and acceleration points.

The DCT system offers two distinct riding approaches – Automatic Transmission (AT), with pre-programmed shift patterns which constantly read vehicle speed, gear selected and engine rpm to decide when a shift should occur, and Manual Transmission (MT), for gear changes using the paddle-shift style triggers on the left handlebar.

There are two settings within AT to choose from; D mode offers effortless riding and maximum fuel efficiency. S mode serves up 3 levels of sports-based shifting. Level 1 is the most modest, changing gears in the medium rpm range. Level 3 is the most aggressive and operates at high rpm with Level 2 is the intermediate point between the two. The preferred selection can also be saved.

Introducing the CFMOTO 450NK – the entry-level addition to CFMOTO’s NK series

For 2024, the NK series has undergone a complete overhaul, and with it comes the brand-new CFMOTO 450NK.

Complete with a powerful 449cc parallel-twin engine platform, updated exterior design, and enhanced functionality, it brings new riding experiences to all who climb aboard. This provides the ideal stepping-stone for everyone enjoying a sports focused yet comfortable naked bike, with easy handling, comfort and playful engine performance.

Ergonomics and Handling
Tipping the scales at only 165 kg, the CFMOTO 450NK boasts one the best curb weights in its class. This makes for extremely nimble handling, while the 795 mm seat height offers accessibility to riders looking for a lower, more comfortable riding position.

The wide front, narrow rear seat cushion design enhances rider comfort, aided by the positioning of the foot pegs and handlebars to create a comfortable and neutral position that encourages riders to increase saddle time.

Engine
With a 449 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine – developed and built by CFMOTO – and producing 34,5 kW/10000 rpm and 39,3 Nm/7750 rpm, the CFMOTO 450NK delivers ample performance along a linear power curve. This power output also ensures a very respectable acceleration of 0 to 100km/h (circa 62 mph) in 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 178 km/h (circa 110 mph).

A new 270° crankshaft delivers output characteristics similar to that found in V-twin engines, producing a throaty engine note and impressive throttle response, while a double-balance shaft arrangement reduces engine vibration for a more comfortable ride. A 14 litre fuel tank allows for longer ride time between refills and makes the CFMOTO 450NK an ideal choice for commuters and recreational riders alike.

Chassis, Brakes, and Suspension
In terms of handling, the CFMOTO 450NK draws on a selection of premium components designed to ensure optimum handling and ease of use. Upfront, a 37 mm upside-down fork provides sure-footed stability and control with a sporty feel, with the rear centre-aligned shock absorber ensuring maximum traction under acceleration and comfort when things get a little rough.

The front 110/70 R17 and rear 150/60 R17 wheel and tyre combination further enhance the 450NK’s handling prowess, with optimised CST AS5 high-performance tyres as standard fitment to provide exceptional grip in all road riding scenarios. Braking is taken care of by a J.JUAN 320 mm disc up front and a 220 mm HANGTE disc on the rear, supported by a ABS, to provide optimum and controlled braking performance at all times.

Rider Aids
Beneath its sleek yet aggressive aesthetics, the CFMOTO 450NK features an advanced traction control system for improved safety. This works by limiting rear-wheel slip in low traction situations. A slipper clutch is standard equipment and allows riders to use the gearbox more effectively when slowing down, eliminating any concern of the rear wheel locking up.

Connectivity and Riding Experience
Up front, an intuitive 5-inch TFT curved display supports simple navigation projection and a built-in shift light to show riders the optimum time to change gear. An optional T-box also allows for easy smartphone connectivity, providing over-the-air updates, anti-theft and tracking capability, as well as real-time viewing of the vehicle information through the CFMOTO RIDE app. A Reserve Type C/Type-A charging port can also be added to conveniently service any smartphone charging needs.

Pricing and Availability
The CFMOTO 450NK will be available in Nebula White and Zephyr Blue for £4,990 OTR. Availability to be confirmed.

Just Ride: 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator 500 details released

Recently unveiled in the outline of 2024 Kawasaki models, full details of the new Kawasaki Eliminator 500 and Eliminator 500 SE are now being released.

Set to have a strong presence in the 500cc mid-weight class, the Eliminator family name makes a return for Kawasaki with the unveiling of a machine with a unique design language of its own. Ready to make its mark in the urban style stakes, the EU A2 licence class compliant Eliminator 500 mates a liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder motor to Kawasaki’s famous trellis frame technology creating a great power to weight ratio plus a sleek silhouette harnessing a long and low form with horizontal lines defining the tank, seat and tail unit.

Delivering an ergonomic package that joins rider to machine in a natural “all day riding comfort” position, the Eliminator can boast a low seat height of just 735mm allowing an easy reach to the ground while offering a total of three seat height options including the standard item plus two others (higher @765mm and lower @715mm) as part of Kawasaki’s genuine accessory Ergo-Fit range.

All LED lighting further increases day and night presence while an all-digital LCD meter keeps the rider informed of all essential information. Suspended from the tubular trellis chassis, the Eliminator’s parallel twin engine offers strong low-end torque, greatly benefiting low-speed control and manoeuvrability while contributing to low-stress everyday riding. And that riding experience can be enhanced with the features available on Kawasaki’s unique Rideology Smartphone app that allows riders to mate their machine to their handheld device for a new level of rider and motorcycle communication.

Up front an 18inch wheel paves the way while an imposing 16 inch rear delivers a clear message about urban style and the personality of the Eliminator and its rider. And under the skin in the “go department”, the Eliminator’s engine harnesses all of Kawasaki’s expertise in a long history of parallel twins. Features such as downdraft intakes provide a short, direct path for intake air to enter the cylinders, a large 5.8 L airbox with left and right intake funnels of different heights contributing to the engine’s smooth response plus large ø32 mm throttle valves helping to flow a greater volume of air, contributing to strong performance.

The chassis design inspiration comes courtesy of the Ninja 400. Complementing the sleek styling, the steering geometry was carefully selected to achieve light, natural handling. With a 1,520 mm wheelbase, the impressive-looking chassis offers low weight while achieving its impressive design. Additionally, a diecast swingarm mounting plate bolts to the back of the engine assembly allowing the swingarm to be mounted directly to the engine, contributing to stability and light weight.

In terms of those all-important looks, a long and low design with elegant proportions is created by the vertically thin fuel tank and the horizontal lines evident from the head pipe to the original tail. The design of this impressive, mid-class sized body suggests a balance of active performance and composure while the round headlight and twin-shock rear suspension add to the authentic motorcycle style. For the SE model a unique colour and graphic package is mated to a stylish headlamp cowl, rubber fork boots, a handlebar mount USB-C port and a special SE seat with a distinctive stitching pattern.

Add a range of Genuine Accessories and the 2024 Eliminator 500 and Eliminator 500 SE deliver everything an emerging breed of young, fashion conscious urban rider’s demand. Style and substance have rarely been this easy to define. So, get on the Eliminator 500 and Just Ride.

The Eliminator 500 and Eliminator 500 SE will be available from January, with prices confirmed nearer the time.

Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour: full optional travel

With the second episode of the 2024 World Première, Ducati presents the new Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour. A model dedicated to Ducatisti who love to travel without limits, in maximum comfort and safety. A Multistrada for travellers who pay attention to details, who always demand the best from their Ducati, even in style. A motorbike complete with all the accessories to travel long distances “in first class”. The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour comes about during the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Multistrada, and encapsulates all the values and characteristics that have always made it a motorcycle ahead of its time.

The Multistrada is in fact the flagship on which Ducati has introduced innovations and technological developments, such as Riding Modes, which have redefined the standards of the motorcycle industry.

The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is a Full Optional motorcycle based on the S model with Travel & Radar setup. It is in fact equipped as standard with a radar system with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) to improve safety and riding comfort. Still regarding safety, the TPMS system, which shows the tyre pressure on the dashboard, and additional LED lights (standard) to improve visibility at night and in fog, are fitted as standard on the Grand Tour.

The side panniers, standard on the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour, are integrated with the livery of the motorbike. Thanks to the overall volume of 60 litres, they allow you to take everything you need with you even on longer journeys. The central stand, included in the standard equipment, helps to make all operations on the cases easier and safer, from assembly and disassembly to opening and closing.

Comfort on the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is also increased by the standard equipment of heated grips and rider and passenger seats. Furthermore, the presence of the hands-free fuel cap simplifies refuelling, allowing you to always keep the motorbike key in your pocket.

Finally, the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour incorporates several updates adopted on the V4 Rally. The handlebar is in fact mounted rigidly on the steering head, without silent blocks, providing a more direct riding feeling without compromising comfort. The passenger seat is the model introduced on the V4 Rally, for optimal support on long journeys, and like that of the rider it is embellished with an external covering with dedicated graphics.

Furthermore, to improve thermal comfort, the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour adopts heat shields on the swingarm and on the left side of the rear subframe, and closable ducts in the leg area. The compartment dedicated to the smartphone is now ventilated.

As on all the motorbikes of the Multistrada V4 family, the Grand Tour is also equipped with the navigation system based on the Phone Mirroring solution which allows you to transform the 6.5″ TFT dashboard into a colour map navigator with all the necessary information for riding the motorcycle.

On the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour there is the Minimum Preload function, which allows the rider to lower the motorbike when stopping and when travelling at low speed, reducing shock absorber preload to a minimum. The Easy Lift function, on the other hand, reduces the effort required to lift the motorbike from the side stand by opening the suspension hydraulics when the key is ON.

The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour completes the family made up of the V4 Pikes Peak, designed for lovers of sporty riding, and the Multistrada V4 Rally, dedicated to Globetrotters who don’t stop even when the tarmac roads come to an end.

The Multistrada V4 is designed to allow Ducatisti to travel without limits in maximum peace of mind thanks to benchmark maintenance intervals (valve clearance check set every 60,000 km) and the 4EVER Ducati and Roadside Assistance programs. The former offers a warranty valid for 4 years with unlimited mileage*. The Roadside Assistance programme, offered on all Multistrada V4s, adds roadside assistance, transport for rider and passenger, a replacement vehicle and overnight stay in a four-star hotel in the event of problems that should occur during the ride to the standard warranty coverage period. All this with the peace of mind offered by a network of more than 800 official Ducati dealers in over 90 countries around the world.

Styling
The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is enhanced by dedicated graphics, elegant and dynamic at the same time. The livery of the superstructures is reflected in the black colour for the frame, swingarm, steering plates, side cases and handlebars. The rider and passenger seats are embellished with dedicated graphics.

Engine
The 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine delivers 170 hp (125 kW) at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm (12.7 kgm) at 8,750 rpm, with a particularly linear torque curve to guarantee a smooth and progressive response at all speeds. The performance of this engine, combined with its total weight of just 66.7 kg, allows the V4 Granturismo to confirm itself as the category benchmark for power and lightness. These numbers are combined with refined technical solutions, such as the counter-rotating crankshaft, derived from the experience gained by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, which works “against” the gyroscopic inertia of the wheels. The results are a fluid delivery at low rpm, robust torque at medium speeds and power at high speeds.

Electronics
In addition to the systems already mentioned, the electronic package of the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour offers the state of the art in the motorcycle sector for safety, comfort, performance and connectivity. The inertial platform (IMU) manages the operation of ABS Cornering, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Lights (DCL) and Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), which makes restarting on inclined roads simple.

On the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour, the inertial platform also communicates continuously with the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) semi-active suspension control system. This system is not only capable of analysing riding conditions and adjusting the fork and shock absorber hydraulics instantly, but for the first time it also integrates the Autolevelling function.

Autolevelling recognizes the bike’s set-up and adjusts it autonomously to bring the seat back to the ideal height from the ground in the different riding configurations, adding to the (manual) options already available to the user: rider, rider plus cases, rider and passenger, rider and passenger plus cases.

Finally, the smartphone mirroring functions, implemented through the Ducati Connect system, allow you to control your phone and music in a simple and intuitive way.

Customization
However, the complete equipment of the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour offers ample margin for customization. To meet the ergonomic needs of the rider and passenger, the accessories catalogue offers a variety of saddles, a motorcycle lowering set and several options for the windshield.

Ducatisti who wish to further enhance the tourer qualities of the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour can adopt additional luggage solutions, designed for both the tank and the rear plate, such as a top case or soft bag.

It is also possible to make the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour sportier and embellish it with different carbon fibre trim components, levers and footrests machined from solid aluminium, dynamic LED indicators and brake and clutch fluid reservoirs machined from solid.

Apparel
Ducati has also specifically created some items of apparel to fully enjoy the touring possibilities of the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour. The Atacama C2 suit, for example, with large areas dedicated to ventilation, detachable sleeves and three independent layers, including thermal lining and waterproof membrane, to offer comfort in all weather conditions.

Alternatively, the Strada C5 suit, made of a comfortable, robust stretch fabric with modular thermal protection, thanks to the detachable internal Gore-Tex® membrane and an internal down jacket that can also be used on its own once the motorbike is parked.

Colours and availability
The new Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour will be available in dealerships in the Ducati network starting from November in Grand Tour livery only.

Nick Sanders’ first ever eBike World Ride on the Yamaha Wabash RT

On 15th September 2023, legendary globetrotter Nick Sanders MBE begins another epic trip around the world on two wheels. Already famous for his numerous record-breaking adventures on a Yamaha motorcycle – as well as many journeys by bicycle – Nick is setting out on the first-ever circumnavigation of the world by electric eBike.

Starting at Yamaha Motor Europe’s HQ in Amsterdam on 15th September 2023, Nick will ride his Yamaha Wabash RT to Athens on leg 1 of this amazing 229-day challenge.

After a ferry trip to Israel the world trip continues with a 35-day ride through the Middle East to Dubai, a distance of around 5000 kms. Then it’s on to India where Nick and his Yamaha Wabash RT will ride from Mumbai, north to New Delhi and then into Nepal. After 40 days and nearly 6000 kms, this leg of the World Ride ends in Kolkata (Calcutta) in late December.

Leg 4 is through South East Asia in December and January, taking in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and then onto Malaysia during a 31 day/4400 kms cycle. Then leg 5 sees Nick take his Yamaha Wabash RT across Singapore, Jakarta and Bali where he’ll depart for Australia on 11th February.

Australia is familiar territory to Nick, having ridden through this vast country on cycles and motorcycles on many occasions. Starting in Darwin, leg 6 heads right through the centre of the red-soiled outback, then south into Adelaide and Melbourne before arriving in Sydney on 8th March after a gruelling 25 day/4600 kms trip – one of the toughest tests for rider and machine. Leg 7 in early March is a 6 day/1050 kms ride from Christchurch to Auckland in New Zealand, and then it’s off to the USA for a West to East crossing starting in LA and ending in New York on 5th April.

The final stage starts on 7th April from Madrid and runs through the Pyrenees, across France, and back to Yamaha Motor Europe’s HQ in Amsterdam on 17th April 2024.

Having covered 33,076 kms over 229 riding days on his Yamaha Wabash RT, Nick Sanders hopes to be the first man to set another two-wheel record in the circumnavigation of the world. Taking with him only a cycling jersey, shorts, spare T-shirt and spare shorts – as well as camera gear and a drone – Nick’s target is to cover over 160 kms per day on the Yamaha Wabash RT.

“I’ve been working with Yamaha for many years now, and I know that their quality and reliability is second to none. The new Yamaha Wabash RT Gravel eBike is the perfect choice for this latest record attempt. I’ve been training hard and slimmed down to 70 kilos to be 100% fit for this journey. I’m really looking forward to this ground-breaking eBike World Trip which has been made possible with Yamaha’s support – including a total of 8 battery swaps at strategic locations. See you in Amsterdam in 229 days!”

Suzuki rolls out ‘click-to-buy’ on 125cc scooter range

Suzuki has rolled out a new ‘click-to-buy’ scheme on its 125cc scooter range, giving customers the opportunity to buy online via the official Suzuki website, with orders fulfilled by their local dealership.

Making the buying process quicker and simpler, the scheme is available on the newly-launched Address 125, Avenis 125, and the Burgman Street 125EX, with just a £99 deposit required.

Hitting the ‘click-to-buy’ option from the respective model page or by visiting buy.bikes.suzuki.co.uk, customers enter their postcode before selecting their preferred colour option, after which they will be prompted to choose their nearest dealership with their choice of model and colour in stock and available.

Once the customer has added their details and payment information for the £99 deposit, the order will be fulfilled by the dealership in the usual way.

All three of Suzuki’s new 125cc scooters are engineered to provide comfort, practicality, and outstanding urban performance while also delivering excellent levels of economy and efficiency, but they do so in their own way and with their own style, giving customers the option to enjoy their city, their way.

They are powered by the proven Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine; the air-cooled, single-cylinder powerplant that currently powers over five million Suzuki models worldwide. All three  scooters allow customers to ‘go further on a fiver’ by achieving an impressive 148.67mpg* fuel consumption figure and produce just 44g/km of CO2 emissions. At the same time, they still deliver powerful acceleration, with peak horsepower and maximum torque delivered at low rpm.

Aprilia launches Aprilia SR GT Replica

Aprilia SR GT, the “urban adventure” scooter from Aprilia designed to rediscover the fun in daily riding, makes its début in the special and super-sporty Replica version with aesthetics taken directly from the Aprilia RS-GP, the bike ridden by Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, protagonists in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship.

The sporty lines of the Aprilia SR GT take on an even grittier look to transform city commutes and longer rides – easily within the SR GT’s capabilities – into a unique thrill. So you can stand out at any given time, thanks to the racing spirit every Aprilia vehicle carries within itself.

The Aprilia SR GT Replica’s matte black colour scheme is enhanced by the same red and purple graphics that characterise the elegant fairings of the Aprilia Racing factory team’s Aprilia RS-GP, one of the most painstakingly designed and technologically cutting-edge prototypes on the MotoGP starting grid, and by the Aprilia logo that runs diagonally along the side and central tunnel. These, as well as the passenger grab handle, are also now finished in matte black.

Exactly like the MotoGP bikes born out of the Noale racing department, the wheel rims are painted black and red detail stands out on the channel of the front wheel. In line with the racing spirit, the equipment package also includes tyres with a sporty street tread design instead of the slightly knobby “all terrain” tyres that characterise the other versions, Aprilia SR GT and SR GT Sport.

For those wanting to further personalise their SR GT Replica, making it even more like the RS-GP machines that compete on tracks all over the world, the racing numbers of the two Aprilia Racing factory MotoGP riders, Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, are included. Just one more touch that brings the SR GT Replica even closer to the MotoGP world.

The new Aprilia SR GT Replica will be available from the Aprilia dealer network from the month of November in the 125 cc version at a price of £4,050.

Aprilia SR GT
Aprilia SR GT is Aprilia’s first “urban adventure” scooter, designed to rediscover the joy of everyday city riding, but also over longer distances or on less travelled roads, thanks to its content which makes it the ideal companion for any situation. On the new Aprilia SR GT, the active riding position and the wide naked handlebar in motorcycle style provide better control, whereas the long-travel suspension and a taller height off the ground allow it to easily overcome any obstacle in city riding. Last, but not least, the large-section tyres allow for adventuring on any type of road surface, from city asphalt to cobblestones to unsurfaced roads.

Aprilia SR GT is also at the top of its class in terms of power and engine efficiency, thanks to two ultra-modern, Euro 5, electronic injection, four-valve timing, and liquid-cooled engines from the i-get family. Alongside the 125 cc i-get, weighing in with maximum power of 11 kW at 8,750 rpm and torque that reaches 12 Nm at 6,500 rpm, the brand new 174 cc single-cylinder makes its début on the Aprilia SR GT 200, boasting 13 kW of power at 8,500 rpm and 16.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Numbers that raise the bar and ensure elasticity, quick acceleration, and smooth riding in any conditions with truly reduced fuel consumption.

Kawasaki Ninja and Z EV models Spark a New Era

From Kawasaki – a company with seventy years of motorcycle experience – a new era is about to dawn with the unveiling of two groundbreaking battery powered, zero emission EV machines set to underline its “Go with Green Power” commitment unveiled at the 2022 EICMA motorcycle show.

Created to sit proudly within the 125cc class of current motorcycles, the new Kawasaki EV machines will be available in Ninja and Z family styles as Z e-1 and Ninja e-1 with both able to boast mid-capacity type chassis and running gear specifications delivering typical Kawasaki fun to ride characteristics mated to zero emission desirability.

With a near silent and efficient brushless motor rated at 5kw (with a useful maxim of 9Kw on demand) this duo of EV models rely on an innovative twin (removable) battery solution with the batteries wired in parallel unlike competitors delivering the advantage of more efficient charge usage. Enjoying a variety of charging options this twin battery configuration allows the sort of portability that heavy single item applications simply prohibit.

Clutchless, with no gears to change and with a simple “twist and go” riding style, the fun to ride feeling is augmented by some clever rider-centric features such as two riding modes (Road and Eco) plus an exciting “e-boost” option delivering an on-demand max of 9kw of power and acceleration (plus a potential top speed of 99kph where permitted) over a short distance thanks to a e-boost button on the right bar under the twist grip.

Kawasaki Z e-1 and Ninja e-1 riders can also amaze their friends with a walk mode that allows these machines to manoeuvre at walking pace in both forward AND reverse – particularly useful for tight parking spots or moving backwards up an incline.

Enjoying a unique Metallic Bright Silver and Metallic Matte Lime Green appearance – which is to be the signature livery of future Kawasaki EV models – the rider view is pleasingly dominated by a TFT meter with smartphone connectivity. Relaying such things as machine riding status, range, availability of boost function and riding level selected (Road or Eco), the TFT meter seamlessly combines with the easy-to-use throttle and 400cc motorcycle class ABS brakes and trellis type chassis to create genuine on road presence and the riding reassurance that has so far been missing in the entry level EV powered two-wheeler class.

Charging options include a charge docking station which a battery can be placed in or via a lead which can link the off-board charger unit to the machine via an under-seat socket with batteries still in place. Cool features about the advanced Li-Ion batteries include inbuilt charge indicators plus a symmetrical design allowing easier placement within the machine plus a handy lockable stowage area above the batteries below the battery cover.

With a range of accessories including +30mm Ergo-Fit seats and various charging solutions, the naked Sugomi style Z e-1 and sleek fully cowled Ninja e-1 models from Kawasaki are set to create another chapter in the company’s illustrious history and open the door to a greener future for two-wheel fans globally – truly a spark of innovation for a new era.

Both machines will arrive in the UK next month, with prices to be confirmed soon.

Portugal’s customised Dax ‘Furiosa’ named as the 2023 Honda Customs winner

The ‘post-apocalyptic’ Dax ‘Furiosa’ created by the Portuguese pairing of young artist Tamara Alves (@tamara_aalves) and bike builders at the Art of Wheels Garage (@artonwheelsgarage) has been crowned this year’s Honda Customs winner.

Receiving 34% of the total of 15,924 votes, Furiosa was victorious over six other custom European mini-bikes and follows in the footsteps of previous Honda Customs winners: Italian custom house Motocicli Audaci’s customised Rebel ‘Maanboard’, Portuguese Honda dealer Mototrofa’s ‘Fenix’ – a take on the CB650R, and the ‘CB100R Africa Four’ by Swiss Honda dealer Brivemo Motos.

Inspired by the world of post-apocalyptic movies, Furiosa features block tyres, a wolf motif, graffiti signatures, bespoke exhaust with wire mesh cage, and glimpses of tartan peeping out of the scorched seat cover.

The classy and graceful ‘Manjushage’, a customised Honda Monkey designed and built by the German team of artist @Lanaarts23 and bike builder Maximilian Zech, a technician based at the flagship Honda Centre dealer in Frankfurt, came in a close second with 29% of the total.

The subtle café racer features clip on bars, a Yoshimura end-can and aftermarket remote reservoir rear shocks to boost performance and handling, while Lana’s signature spider lily motifs (Manjushage in Japanese) adorn the fuel tank and fender, with the finishing touch being a tiny cartoon monkey on the downpipe heat shield.

The podium was completed by France’s ‘Tokyo’, a Monkey displaying an absolute riot of colour from the French duo of artist Grems (@insta_grems) and builder George Woodman (@georgewoodman64). What set Tokyo apart from the other entries were the pop-art visuals, pumped with vibrant colour in abstract – and subtly meshed – patterns on every square centimetre. It attracted 12% of the total votes.

This year 21,606 people visited the www.hondacustoms.com webpage over the summer to cast their votes, an increase of 41% from last year, with 5,461 users downloading a wallpaper of the chosen bike for their mobile or desktop.

All seven bikes were on display at the annual Wheels and Waves festival, running from 21st to 25th June in Biarritz, France.

Masayuki Hamamatsu, General Manager of Motorcycles, Honda Motor Europe: ‘Working with young artists to create unique versions of our minibikes has been a fantastic way for us to attract the attention of a younger audience to the fun and accessibility of motorcycles.

The strong reaction to these seven incredibly diverse creations is an encouraging sign of how motorcycles really engage people’s interest when they are given the chance to be ‘in contact’ with them.

Furiosa is a very cool and worthy winner and we are very grateful to all the artists and customisers who were involved from seven different countries – and to the more than 15,000 people who voted.’

For those wishing to take a closer look at all seven customisations, the Honda Customs page www.hondacustoms.com is still available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese and features bikes from Spain, Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal and the UK . Users are still able to download a wallpaper of their favourite bikes for desktop or mobile.

The Husqvarna Motorcycles 2024 Enduro Pro Models Break Cover

Enduro riders can raise their offroad game with the class-leading, innovative and race-developed TE 300 PRO and FE 350 PRO.

Husqvarna Motorcycles is pleased to announce its 2024 TE and FE Pro enduro line-up, the 2-stroke TE 300 and 4-stroke FE 350. These latest offerings have been designed from the ground up to give experienced and ambitious enduro riders the performance edge they need to excel at the highest levels of competition.

All-new for 2024 and based on a revolutionary enduro platform, both the FE 350 Pro and TE 300 Pro are expertly crafted with new frames, subframes, bodywork, suspension and brakes, plus a host of engine refinements. Each of the Pro models shares an extensive list of innovations. The new enduro platform focuses on continued improvements to overall rideability, delivering outstanding performance. Riders will immediately appreciate and benefit from the technical changes made to both machines.

Technical sections can be conquered in complete confidence and control thanks to predictable damping from new, enduro-specific WP suspension. A WP XACT Closed Cartridge fork incorporates a mid-valve piston for smooth action and consistent performance, while a hydrostop in the final 68 mm of travel helps maintain momentum. A redesigned WP XACT shock features a new piston for a more compliant action and is 100 g lighter and 15 mm shorter while retaining 300 mm of travel. Both fork and shock settings can be adjusted by hand for quick, easy personalised set-up.

Striking restyled bodywork adorned with modern, Swedish-inspired graphics and a new high-grip seat cover complement the revised chassis. An improved ergonomic rider triangle offers greater knee contact for better control. The slimline bodywork also affords complete freedom of movement when riding standing up while a redesigned LED headlight produces greater illumination and is fitted using a more efficient and user-friendly mounting system.

Based on the all-new 2024 enduro range, the TE 300 Pro engine is fuelled by Throttle Body Injection (TBI) technology. Developed to sustain the best-in-class performance of these lightweight 2-stroke machines, TBI gives more consistent and controllable power throughout the rev range, even in the toughest conditions.

Engine innovation is also a hallmark of the FE 350 Pro, powered by a new and much more compact DOHC unit. This is tilted back in the frame by two degrees compared to previous models, further centralising mass and contributing to improved anti-squat chassis characteristics. Additionally, all major engine components are positioned as centrally as possible to improve handling and generate maximum torque and power.

Both models raise the enduro riding experience to new levels thanks to advanced electronics. The Engine Management System (EMS) allows each machine to offer two pre-set riding maps to suit varying terrain, with each gear matched to tailored power delivery. The 4-stroke model offers additional rider aids including Traction Control and a Quickshifter for positive upshifts, even under heavy load.

The TE 300 Pro and FE 350 Pro showcase Husqvarna Motorcycles’ progressive approach with premium components shared across both models. These include a new LED headlight, Brembo hydraulic clutch and brake systems with high performance GALFER discs, a combined Start/Stop button, a new Factory Racing wheel-set with high-strength EXCEL Takasago rims, ProTaper handlebars and Michelin enduro tyres. A host of premier features that place the Pro models at the top of their class.

Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Corsa

An emblem of the Italian motorcycle for almost seventy years, Moto Guzzi V7 continues to reinvent itself, maintaining its unmistakable features and an authenticity that make it unique.

The most recent interpretation of the legendary V7, the new Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Corsa, was unveiled as a surprise during Moto Guzzi Open House 2023, capturing the attention of the thousands of fans who turned out in Mandello for the most eagerly awaited event by Guzzisti all over the world.

Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Corsa represents a bold return to a classic sportiness. Its soft lines stand out straight away, flowing from the top fairing and the single-seater style saddle, both bringing to mind the exciting atmosphere of races from days gone by.

Vibrations that emanate from authentic motorcycling, animated by genuine passion, and which have come back to life since 2019 in the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance, the single-brand trophy that gives many riders the chance to race on the track, having fun astride their own V7 machines, highlighting its unexpected racing features.

The new V7 Stone Corsa stands out with its brand new two-tone livery, also a tribute to the golden age of motorcycle racing. The metallic grey colour scheme is livened up by an aggressive red stripe that runs vertically along the top fairing, then continuing along the lower part of the fuel tank and on the side panels. Colour coded to match the body, the hard cover for the rear portion of the saddle is available as an accessory, making it a true single-seater in pure racing style.

The equipment package also includes “bar end” rear-view mirrors, which give the V7 Stone Corsa an even sleeker and more dynamic profile, as well as the billet black anodised aluminium fuel cap. In line with the minimalist look, which is the distinctive trait of all V7 versions, the front fork has no bellows, whereas a plate on the handlebar riser identifies the special edition.

Moto Guzzi V7 Stone was also unveiled at Open House 2023 in the new Verde Camo colour scheme, which will be available alongside the Rosso Rovente, Grigio Alluminio, Giallo Metallico, and Nero Ruvido colour schemes.

Europe’s largest free motorcycle festival celebrates 120 years of Harley-Davidson

Harley-Davidson® returned to the beautiful lakeside festival setting of Faaker See in Carinthia, Austria (September 5-10, 2023) in what was a truly iconic year for European Bike Week (EBW).

Approximately 100,000 people and more than 70,000 motorcycles joined the festival in the Austrian village of Faak am See to celebrate Harley-Davidson at an event free of charge and open to all riders.

EBW in 2023 was an extra-special celebration marking three milestone anniversaries for the American motorcycle brand. It signalled a major highlight of the year-long 120th anniversary celebrations of Harley-Davidson. 2023 also marks the 40th anniversary of Harley Owners Group® and the 25th Anniversary of the first Harley-Davidson European Bike Week event at Faaker See, in 1999. This significant milestone called for a combined celebration, which included giving festivalgoers the opportunity to conquer the most beautiful roads in Carinthia and neighbouring Slovenia on free tours guided by the H.O.G. Kärnten Chapter.

The future of this iconic event was also sealed during this European Bike Week and the brand’s special relationship with the Carinthia region. Harley-Davidson is delighted to announce it is formally extending its direct partnership with the region to continue delivering European Bike Week annually through 2030.

Kolja Rebstock, Harley-Davidson VP for Europe, Middle East and Africa said: “European Bike Week is one of our biggest events of the year, and we are pleased to be able to confirm our commitment to running this magical event through to 2030. Delivering lifestyle experiences like European Bike Week to our customers and motorcycle fans is what makes our brand so unique.”

As a mark of Harley-Davidson’s continued commitment and to build on the already strong presence in the area, a new Harley Boulevard was opened in honour of the extended relationship. This new spot adds to the existing Harley-Davidson landmarks including the iconic lakeside ‘Harleywood’ sign and the legendary biker sculpture on the main road from Villach.

Festival-goers had the opportunity to explore the heart of the celebrations in the Harley Village – a site of around 40,000 m² – filled with authorised Harley-Davidson® Dealerships from across Europe, as well as a variety of other traders offering accessories and apparel. Those looking for entertainment did not have to look far as the party atmosphere was felt across the site, including the newly designed Saloon Bar and Harley Bar, as well as two stages rocking with 25 international artists.

The Harley-Davidson EXPO featured the latest motorcycles from the iconic brand, including the newly launched CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide®, the most technologically advanced Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring motorcycles ever made, which pulled in a large and excited crowd.

The H-D Demo Zone was fully booked throughout the festival, with over 1,700 riders having the opportunity to test out the latest models. A true highlight for many was the Pan America™ Adventure Zone, a technical off-road area right at the heart of the site with Dakar legends Joan Pedrero (Spain) and Mick Extance (UK) and off-road expert and instructor Ralf Wiesenfeller (Germany) providing demonstrations, dynamic displays, rider tuition and in-depth off-road tutorials.

The Custom Bike Show sponsored by Metzeler took place in the Customizer Area. Around 78 custom creations were registered across six categories, with trophies awarded for Best in Category, Best in Show and People’s Choice. Best in Show was unanimously awarded by the panel of judges to Mirko Perugini from Italy, for his beautiful creation incorporating a very early motorcycle-era vee-twin engine. Continuing the tradition of prizes, Saturday night saw lucky participant Boris Zanki from Split in Croatia win the Sportster S on stage in front of a huge crowd at the H-D plaza.

10,000 riders took to the roads around Carinthia from Lake Faak, Villach and Finkenstein during the parade on Saturday, making it one of the largest and most celebrated motorcycle parades in Europe.

Harley-Davidson celebrations continue next year with the 30th edition of the Annual European H.O.G. Rally, a free event open to all riders which will take place in the historic town of Senigallia, Italy from June 6-9, 2024. The outstanding location is less than two hours from Bologna and features iconic renaissance architecture, a stunning coastline surrounded by rolling hills and winding roads, making it a perfect location to plan a tour to in 2024.

European Bike Week will return to Faak am See, September 3-8, 2024.
