Extreme Hyperfocus – The Track-Only KTM RC 8C Is Ready To Race

Rolling out of pit lane and directly onto the starting grid, the KTM RC 8C is a limited production track-only motorcycle built to satisfy the apex-slaying needs of orange-bleeding track warriors. Dedicated to putting in fast lap times with unmatched hyper-focused precision, the KTM RC 8C is undeniably, READY TO RACE!

The KTM RC 8C is a purpose-built, lightweight racing prototype which uses the familiar LC8c engine from the KTM 890 DUKE R in a bespoke, track-ready chassis, bristling with high-end racing componentry. In essence, the KTM RC 8C allows customers the opportunity to own a machine that is as close to a Factory race bike as possible – without the drawbacks of needing a specialist race team to maintain it.

Engineered to be 100% ready for the track, the KTM RC 8C is a completely hand-built machine, powered by a high-torque production engine to allow for easy maintenance.

Under the lightweight, KTM RC16-inspired carbon Kevlar reinforced GRP bodywork lies a 128 Hp, 889 cc LC8c, DOHC, 8 valve parallel twin, bolted into a dedicated 25CrMo4 steel tubular frame, augmented by a selection of WP Pro Components at either end.

Upfront, a hand built 43 mm WP APEX PRO 7543 closed cartridge fork made from high quality, lightweight material is used. Developed with the experience gained from KTM Factory Racing efforts across a number of international championships, the suspension is assembled in the same department which builds and maintains the suspension of the KTM RC16, it guarantees the best performance for race-oriented motorcyclists and professional racers. The fork also boasts zero hydraulic stroke limitation, meaning riders can continually control the damping properties.

A WP APEX PRO 7746 shock with preload adjuster takes charge of matter at the rear, and can be easily adjusted to suit all riders, and almost any situation by means of separate high and low-speed compression and rebound settings.

Being a focused track-only motorcycle, every detail is dedicated to race craft. From the quick-release tank and body panels, to the lightweight Dymag wheels and Pirelli SC1 race slicks, the KTM RC 8C makes its intentions known.

Maximum braking performance is taken care of by Brembo race-spec equipment, with Brembo Stylema front brake calipers grabbing 290 mm fully floating brake disks with aluminum rotors fastened by titanium screws, and for the rear a Brembo two piston caliper with a 230 mm fully floating disk mounted directly on the hub.

The KTM RC 8C is also fitted with a Brembo 19RCS CORSA CORTA radial master cylinder, which features a host of innovations, with many of the technical solutions adopted drawn directly from the master cylinders used in MotoGP™. The most significant being that riders are able to tailor the “bite point” exactly where they want it, with an easily accessible selector on the top of the master cylinder itself.

Ensuring data is collected and collated, the KTM RC 8C makes use of the AIM MXS 1.2 RACE dashboard and data logger with integrated GPS function. All information is displayed via a 5“ TFT display with integrated data recording, which is continually logged and can be analyzed in AIM Race Studio.

In summary:
// Limited to only 100 units worldwide
// Hand built exclusively for track use
// 128 Hp, 140 kg dry weight, near 1:1 power/weight ratio
// Dedicated racing exhaust with Akrapovič titanium muffler
// Dedicated air box and racing air filter
// Bespoke frame made with 25CrMo4 steel tubular
// WP APEX PRO components fork and rear shock

This will be accompanied by a landmark moment for Triumph and the MX and Enduro racing world with an all new Triumph factory race programme, and a commitment to top tier championship racing in both Motocross and Enduro series.

Coming hand-in-hand with this commitment, to race and win at the highest level in the sport, Triumph is proud to announce that global Motocross legend Ricky Carmichael and five-times Enduro World Champion Iván Cervantes have joined the Triumph family as active partners in both bike testing and preparation for racing.

An announcement of the timetable for the launch and reveal of the motorcycles, as well as the racing programme and the full story on the product advantages the new Triumph MX and Enduro offer, will follow in the coming months.

Nick Bloor: CEO Triumph Motorcycles Ltd:
Today’s announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Triumph brand,
which everyone at Triumph is incredibly excited to be part of. We are 100% committed
to making a long-lasting impact in this highly competitive and demanding world, with a single-minded ambition to deliver a winning motorcycle line-up for a whole new
generation of Triumph riders”

Ricky Carmichael:
I am thrilled to announce that I am joining the Triumph family and even more excited to be a part of their new endeavour into the off-road product category.

This is an incredible opportunity for me to join this historic brand, and I am honoured and humbled to be a part of the development and release of their off-road motorcycles. Building something from the ground up is something that really is intriguing to me at this stage of my career. What is impressive to me is Triumph’s dedication, and passion to develop a top of the class product. Everyone that I have been involved with in this project from the engineers, design groups, R&D dept., etc., have shown extreme passion for what they are doing and that is a recipe for success and something that I love being a part of.
We all share that same passion, and that’s to be the best.

If you are familiar with the Triumph brand, you already know the quality of craftsmanship is top shelf, and the off-road models will follow suit to their past!

Not only are these exciting times for me, but it’s an exciting time for the off-road industry to be adding another brand to the mix and the opportunities that lie ahead for all off-road consumers.  I can’t wait to see the reactions when these models hit the dealer’s showroom floors.

Ivan Cervantes:
I have loved Triumph motorcycles right from being a small kid, seeing them in films and on television. So to be working with Triumph from the beginning of this project, is an amazing opportunity for me, not just because it is working with one of the world’s greatest motorcycle brands, but also for being part of building something from zero.  It is a dream come true for any racer!

Like me, everyone I am working with at Triumph is focused to make the bikes the best they can be.  I cannot wait to see the bikes competing at a world level, but I also look forward to when I can stand in a Triumph dealer and know I was part of this very special project.

Bio:
Ricky Carmichael – The G.O.A.T.

To many this motorcycle hall of fame inductee will need no introduction. Ricky Carmichael is the greatest motocross racer of all time.   As an amateur RC won 67 National Championships, before turning pro at age 17.  In his pro career he won a record 15 motocross championships, with 2 perfect seasons, and a further 5 Supercross championships.  Over both motocross and supercross RC won an unsurpassed 150 races.  Ever popular in the paddock and with fans, RC was voted AMA Rider of the year 5 times during his career.

Since retirement from professional level motocross racing as an athlete, RC has still stayed heavily involved in the sport he loves, from owning a championship winning team, designing tracks for the Daytona Supercross, running Ricky Carmichael University, commentating on the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, and working with Triumph as part of the most exciting development in his sport in decades.

Bio:
Iván Cervantes – El Torito

5 times World Champion Iván Cervantes’ racing career began in motocross, where the Spaniard won 5 national titles, before moving to enduro in 2002.  At 23 years old, Iván made history by becoming the first Spanish champion in the EnduroGP E1 category.  He followed this with a further 3 world championship titles in EnduroGP and an FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup championship title.  In 2008 Iván became Spain’s first and only overall winner, in the 83rd Edition of the International Six Day Enduro.  Following his Enduro career Iván turned to the Dakar for his next challenge, where he competed 3 times and finished what is arguably the toughest motorcycle race in the world, twice.

After his retirement from professional level racing, Iván began his work with the Real Federación Motociclista Española, as the Sport Manager of Enduro in Spain.  In this role Iván is the Manager of the Spanish Junior Enduro Team, and the track inspector for the Spanish National Enduro Championship.  Iván’s focus on giving back to the sport that gave him so much, sees Iván joining Triumph for the once in a lifetime opportunity on working on a ground up new off road project.

Ducati Dragons

The first Ducati Dragons weekend brought together over 30 women from across the UK, all with a shared passion for delicious Ducatis. The Dragons filled the car park of Eastwood Hall in Nottingham from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th of June 201 with the rip roaring noise of Ducati twins; the Monster and SuperSport certainly the most popular choice. Sunshine and smiles all round.

Women came from all over the UK to be part of this unique event, instigated by Gillian Riddell, an avid Ducati enthusiast. Gillian is part of the Ducati Owners Club (DOC GB). Gillian regularly attends the DOC outings and despite having several women members, she often ends up being the only one attending the events. She is keen to encourage more women to attend mixed events and by creating an event where women can meet face to face will help make new connections and get more women out together to other events too.

Upon arrival, the Dragons came together for the first time and made new connections, making time for each other before checking in. We chatted to the UpRight Motorcycle Road Safety Campaign team who came to support. Some were able to try different bikes, provided by Martin of Ducati Manchester who had kindly brought some Scramblers and Supersports for test rides. We were even interviewed for BIKE Magazine with lots of posing for photos, it made us feel like celebrities to mark the occasion!

Grabbing a quiet bite to eat before the pre-ride briefing, we set off at 1300 on Saturday on a very unique ride out. We were escorted by Tom from @UpRightDerbys (Insta) on his Police Bike which was very useful for clearing junctions! It was immensely awe inspiring to be out on the road with so many women who have a passion for Italian machines. After the first hour, we split off into different routes to enjoy the Peak District and ensure the well deserved ice cream and cake breaks where we could.

The Dragons returned back to the hotel late afternoon for some quick refreshments and a turnaround for the delicious 3 course dinner. The raffle prizes kept us applauding, especially to the winner of the exclusive Ducati jacket provided by Ducati Manchester and the gift voucher for Maja’s Motorcycle Adventures. The disco endured well into the night, topped off with fantastic goody bags provided by Verity. The Scottoiler discount and T-shirt was a superb donation, along with the Bike Sure 10% off discount offer and merch. The Muc Off Dry Lube and bike cleaner was an ideal addition to all of our garages, topped off with Ducati hats and pens, perfect!

Ready for a fresh morning in the sunshine, the Dragons left the hotel to do some more exploring in the Peaks before making their way home. Everyone who attended made a new connection with a friend in the biking world and a reinforcement that there are plenty of women out there who don’t need much of an excuse to just get out and ride!

Fantic Presents New 2022 Enduro And Motocross Range

The Fantic Racing MX and Enduro ranges have been expanded with the introduction of new models and new displacements for 2022. Set to make their debut on the MX market are the four-stroke XXF 250 and XXF 450, which join the XX 250 and XX 125 two-strokes. Additionally, three core models make up the 2022 Fantic Enduro range; the XE 125 two stroke and the XEF 250 and XEF 450 four-strokes.

New two-stroke era
The experience gained with the official factory teams in top-level competition and the continuous developments of the Fantic Racing Department led by Jan Witteveen have produced the XX125 and XX250 MX machines and the XE125 Enduro model.

New four-stroke era
The new four-stroke MX and Enduro machines are developments based on Yamaha technology. These have been optimised in line with Fantic’s desire to offer a unique range of competitive racing machines. The XXF 250 power unit has been developed with the aim of maximising the performance of the Japanese twin-cam design. On the XXF 450 motor, the Fantic racing department has fine-tuned the design to make the bike more balanced and rider-friendly in all conditions.

2022 MX range
The current XX 125 two-stroke is destined to make way for an all-new 2023 bike, which will be unveiled next autumn. Fantic says it will be a “revolutionary” machine.

The XX 250 two-stroke is the result of race development by the Fantic Factory Team Maddii, and comes equipped with special parts such as the Fantic Racing piston developed by Jan Witteveen. The power of its two-stroke engine is even easier to manage thanks to the Fantic control unit with double mapping and handlebar switches: Map1 is full power, while Map2 reduces the power, delays the ignition timing and is suitable for the most difficult conditions.

The Fantic exhaust system is also equipped with a top-quality Arrow aluminium silencer. The chassis features a semi-double-cradle aluminium frame, and KYB suspension with a 48 mm diameter SSS (Speed Sensitive System) fork, 300 mm of travel. The monoshock rear provides 315mm of wheel travel and is separately adjustable for preload, compression and rebound. The chassis package is completed by an aluminium alloy swingarm and DID rims.

Both models are equipped with traction control and GET launch control and come equipped with the WiGET smartphone app, which allows the rider to adjust the settings of the control unit by managing the advance map and the electronic injection map.

On the XXF 250, improvements have been made to enhance performance to provide a perfect balance between power and handling. On the XXF 450, the factory has worked to offer the user a powerful 450, but at the same time an easy, intuitive and rideable motorcycle.

Strength lies in the four-stroke machines’ chassis, thanks to an aluminium perimeter frame and KYB suspension with SSS (Speed Sensitive System) forks coupled with a fully adjustable monoshock, as well as ergonomics developed by Fantic factory riders.

Enduro range
The XE 125 two-stroke builds on its success in world championship enduro events, with revised cylinder head, ignition and exhaust providing optimum performance in mixed Enduro conditions.

The aluminium semi-double cradle frame, ensures traction and stability in the fastest and roughest sections of a typical Enduro. The suspension package uses KYB SSS (Speed Sensitive System) forks with 300 mm of travel and an Enduro setting created specifically by the racing department and able to adapt, with a few clicks, to various riding styles. KYB is also used on the rear, with 315mm of wheel travel and separately adjustable for preload, compression and rebound.

The XEF 250 and XEF 450 four-strokes are designed to provide usability over the entire range of use. The XEF 250 engine, control unit, exhaust and chassis, combine to make the XEF 250 ready to compete in all conditions.

The XEF 450 is a brand new machine resulting from the work of the Fantic research and development department to get the best all-round performance from the Yamaha designed four-stroke engine.

The XEF 450 electronic management is entrusted to the Athena-GET control unit, developed by Fantic. Again, the WiGET App makes it easy to set and modify the bike’s settings according to the riding conditions. The Arrow exhaust, with aluminium silencer, is another reference to the Fantic desire to use top-class components.

The chassis is an added strength of the XEF 450, thanks to the aluminium perimeter frame and KYB multi-adjustable suspension package.

Mariano Roman, CEO of Fantic Motor explains; “We are ready to make another big leap forward, projecting our company towards interesting market scenarios.

“The completion of the racing range, both in terms of Motocross and Enduro, finally allows us to compete on equal terms with the main competitors in this sector. A sector that has always represented the highest expression of off-road technology.

“Research and development in the world of the most extreme competitions has allowed us, not only to celebrate great victories and titles, but to make available machines with a factory feel, not just simple production bikes.

“This is what makes us different from our competitors.”

The Fantic Enduro and Motocross range will be available at official Fantic dealers from September.

Yamaha Will Participate in 2021 EICMA Motorcycle Show

Yamaha Motor Europe announces that it will take part in the 2021 edition of the EICMA show which will be held from 23rd to 28th November.

Yamaha Motor Europe has made this decision thanks to the positive progression of the international and national vaccination programs and the steady easing of the restrictive measures against COVID-19 in Europe and Italy in particular. The expectation is that by the end of November visiting large exhibitions will be possible again. Preventive safety measures to contain COVID-19 will still be implemented, in cooperation with the EICMA organization, to secure a pleasant and safe visit to the show. In that respect, the size of the Yamaha stand will be enlarged in comparison to 2019 to allow visitors more personal space.

Eric de Seynes, President and CEO of Yamaha Motor Europe N.V., affirms: “The decision to attend EICMA was not an easy one to make for obvious reasons. However, after having observed the trend related to the evolution of COVID-19 and being reassured by the EICMA organization that we can provide a safe environment for all visitors, while allowing them to experience the event to the full, we believe it is the right decision to support the return of such an event. With arguably the largest international reach, EICMA has great significance for our industry, being a unique moment and place where the motorcycle community can come together to feel the reaction from media and customers to the new products, keeping the connection with them alive and providing inspiration towards future trends. While we have yet to return to what most of us consider normality, this year’s event provides the first opportunity for enthusiasts to come together and be connected again physically, rather than virtually.”

We hope to see you at the Yamaha stand in November.

First Of Three Tattoo Inspired Art-Bike Designs Revealed By Indian Motorcycle

Internationally renowned tattoo artist Mayonaize makes his mark on the all-new Indian Motorcycle Chief.

The first of three headline artists work to be revealed in CGI as part of the ‘Indian Motorcycle X No Regrets’ tattoo art collaboration.

Indian Motorcycle unveil the first of three unique tattoo inspired designs, created by three iconic featured tattoo artists – Mayonaize, Shige and Carlos Torres – whose Indian Motorcycle Chief based works of art will each be revealed in high-resolution computer-generated imagery over the next three months.

Mayonaize, or mayo, is a New Zealand born artist living and working in Melbourne, Australia, who is known for bold, calligraphic script designs with a unique visual style. Mayo’s work is highly sought-after, not only as a tattooist, but also as a notable painter, his portfolio of exhibited artworks ranging from street art to interior canvases and large-scale murals.

Mayo hand painted his Chief design onto large scale templates before being photographed and rendered onto the tank and fenders to his exact specifications.

Mayonaize commented on the design process “I think the most interesting part is the way that all the panels fit together on the bike. I love the machining of the bike as well, so I was really interested in hero-ing that. You don’t want to just do something that’s not related to the flow of the bike, there’s lines to a bike like there’s lines and flow to a body – the focal point of the bike would be the tank and the engine beneath, so you want to hero the parts of the body that are the most interesting, the motorcycle creates the composition for the piece rather than just trying to put a flat image on each panel. I wanted it to look like it was one piece over the whole bike.”<

Mayonaize’s design will be applied to a real Indian Motorcycle Chief later this year and revealed in the metal at a VIP event in London in Spring 2022, alongside designs from artists Shige and Carlos Torres. Forty more of the world’s leading tattoo artists will all compete to have their Indian Motorcycle Chief designs made a reality in steel and paint later this Autumn by public vote.

Radical customs showcase the Dual Personality of the Honda CMX1100 Rebel

Honda Motor Europe are celebrating the dual personality of the CMX1100 Rebel, the new big sibling to the CMX500 (Europe’s second best-selling custom motorcycle in 2020), with two radical builds by French custom house ‘FCR Original’. Both projects were originally scheduled to appear alongside ten dealer-built custom CB650Rs at this year’s Wheels and Waves festival in Biarritz.

The CMX ‘Sport’ and CMX ‘Bobber’ have been designed to appeal to different sensibilities, but both clearly show the custom potential of the CMX1100 Rebel that is hiding just under the skin.

CMX SPORT

CMX SPORT – “This one is for sport, but to ride every day.”

FCR Original wanted to highlight the practical and playful side of the Rebel, but make it more sporty, muscular and aggressive. They were also inspired by the mechanical beauty and performance of the DCT, which is so good for daily use by riders of all ages. After roughing out sketches of the finished bike, the team went to work. A swingarm modification allowed fitment of a pair of black Öhlins rear shocks, as well as 17-inch CB500F rear wheel and Dunlop D212 190/55-ZR17 tyre. The front mudguard is scratch-built and 25mm lower; oversize handlebars add leverage while the speedo has been moved to the top yoke.

Stunning in its simplicity, the bodywork is result of a complete 3D scan and consists of custom polyester-carbon fuel tank (with aluminium filler) and rear seat unit with LED lighting and Alcantara seat. Hand-built footrests add a racing feel while the red/black paint and detailing pays subtle homage to classic Honda imagery. The engine is stock, but breathes through an FCR Original stainless steel exhaust.

CMX BOBBER

CMX BOBBER – “Reinforcing the custom spirit while maintaining a fun, playful character…”

Inspired by the ‘elemental’ design of the CMX1100 Rebel, this interpretation has a more custom feel, pushing it even further toward the bobber style. The swingarm and suspension are stock, but lowered 25mm at the front while custom-built black-spoke wheels wear fat Bridgestone tyres.

Building on the bobber vibe are aluminium handlebars, leather seat with perforated leather ribbing, simple aluminium front mudguard (with Mirrachrome finish) and painted headlight surround. Mini-Bates FCR Original LED indicators tuck neatly away and like the CMX Sport a 3D scan produced the custom polyester-carbon fuel tank – with Mirrachrome/blue satin finish – and aluminium filler. A ceramic-coated FCR Original exhaust is the finishing touch, highlighting the mechanical beauty of the bike.

Suzuki summer savings are here

Suzuki has announced three summer saving deals, running until the end of September and covering much of the on road range.

Worth exploring
Available on the V-Strom 1050XT and V-Strom 1050XT Tour, plus the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 650XT, the ‘worth exploring’ offer combines a lower rate of finance – 3.9% APR representative – available on either a PCP or HP deal over three years with £500 worth of free accessories.

The V-Strom accessory catalogue includes three-piece aluminium luggage – which comes as standard fitment on the V-Strom 1050XT Tour – heated grips, touring screens, engine bars, and sump guards.

As part of the offer the already well-equipped V-Strom 1050XT Tour can be had for £142 per month over a three-year PCP deal with a £2000 deposit or trade-in.

The V-Strom 1050XTs boast a 1037cc V-twin engine delivering 107PS and bags of torque, plus three selectable engine maps, traction control with three modes, lean angle-sensitive ABS with two modes, linked brakes with slope and load-dependent control and hill hold, and cruise control. There’s also low RPM assist and Suzuki’s easy start system. Practicality comes from a height-adjustable seat and screen, 12V socket and USB port, centre stand, hand guards, and spoked wheels.

The V-Strom 650 uses Suzuki’s proven 645cc V-twin engine, packed with character and a broad spread of usable torque, and also features a traction control system, low RPM assist, and the easy start system.

To get your pulse racing
A similar three-year, 3.9% APR representative offer – also on PCP or HP – is available on the GSX-R1000R, including the limited edition 100th anniversary model, and the GSX-S750. This time the deal is sweetened with a £500 off test ride incentive.

With £500 off the RRP, the GSX-R1000R anniversary edition – complete in the same livery as Joan Mir’s MotoGP world title-winning GSX-RR – is available for £169 per month over a three-year PCP deal with a £2,730.61 deposit.

A 200PS motor sits at the heart of the GSX-R1000R, which inherits the same variable valve timing system as the world championship-winning GSX-RR. It uses a comprehensive suite of performance enhancing electronics – including a quickshifter and autoblipper, launch control, lean angle-sensitive traction control and ABS. There are also three power modes, easy start, and low RPM assist.

The GSX-S750 uses a 749cc inline-four cylinder that started life in the iconic GSX-R750 and delivers a smooth, linear power delivery, and gets traction control, low RPM assist, and Suzuki easy start, all wrapped in an agile chassis and sharp, streetfighter styling.

Hand crafted just for you
The third summer saving offer from Suzuki this season is the continuation of the 0% APR representative deal available on the Katana.

Requiring a minimum deposit of £500, customers can enjoy the Katana over a three-year HP deal. And with just £500 put down, it can be ridden for £310 per month. However, being a HP deal, there is no final balloon payment.

The fresh take on the iconic machine from the 80s uses a torque-rich, 999cc inline-four cylinder engine – kept in check with a three-mode traction control system – a twin-spar aluminium chassis and superbike-derived swingarm. This is all packed in angular, aggressively styled bodywork that also remains unmistakably Katana.

New 2022 Yamaha Off Road Competition Range

True commitment to racing with all-new YZ125, along with major upgrades for YZ250 and YZ85.

Featuring an all-new higher performance 125cc 2-stroke engine as well as sharper, more compact bodywork, improved ergonomics, higher performance brakes and refined KYB suspension, the YZ125 is the ultimate choice for tomorrow’s professional rider.

For 2022 the highly successful YZ250 comes with an all-new super slim bodywork that sharpens up its profile to make it one of the most dynamic looking bikes on the track. Besides, for riders looking to have a bike with the factory racing look, the new YZ125 and YZ250 come in Monster Energy Yamaha Racing colors too.

And including much of the same advanced engine and chassis technology as the YZ125 and YZ250, the new 2022 YZ85 is the ultimate bike for any young racer aiming for the victorYZone.

Fighting all the way to the victorYZone
2020 witnessed Monster Energy Official Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 riders fighting at the front throughout the season, with Jeremy Seewer and Jago Geerts finishing the year as vice-champion in MXGP and MX2 respectively.

During the past season Yamaha has displayed incredible strength, with YZ450F riders taking two out of the top four places in the 2020 MXGP standings, while YZ250F riders took three out of the top five places in the 2020 MX2 standings, securing Yamaha the MX2 Manufacturer’s World Title as a result.

In the USA, where the 2021 Supercross season has already concluded, Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing riders dominated both the 2021 250 SX East and West Championships aboard of their YZ250F machines.

Total and enduring commitment to Motocross
Ever since Yamaha won its first ever World Motocross championship almost 50 years ago, the company has been totally committed to supporting the sport and creating a range of winning machinery for riders of all ages. Yamaha was one of the first Japanese brands to produce purpose-built race bikes for youth riders, and the first to introduce to the track 4-stroke MX machines. Today the company continues to be a major force in motocross at every level and with a full commitment to every rider.

Yamaha especially recognizes the importance of the youth motocross scene, where future champions perfect their skills before moving into the big league. This is why since 2015 Yamaha has operated the highly successful YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup program that offers young YZ125, YZ85 and YZ65 riders the chance to qualify for the bLU cRU Europe Cup SuperFinale each year and make their name in front of a huge international audience at the prestigious Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations.

To underline the company’s long-term commitment to motocross, Yamaha will launch an all-new YZ125 for 2022, along with major upgrades for the YZ250 and YZ85 models that give every rider the opportunity to realise their true potential and head straight to the victorYZone!

YZ125

All-new YZ125: Agility. Ability. Victory.
For 2022 the all-new YZ125 gets a completely redesigned higher performance engine along with a seriously upgraded chassis and a slimmer and more radical looking body to make this the most competitive YZ125 ever.

Delivering a significantly higher power output along with better useability – and featuring sharper handling, stronger braking and improved ergonomics – the new YZ125 is designed to become the default choice for up and coming riders looking to increase their confidence and experience, and take their performance to the next level.

Its advanced specification clearly demonstrates Yamaha’s desire to give tomorrow’s champions the very best equipment in their teenage years so that they’re ready to fight for the biggest prize when they move on up to the professional ranks.

New 125cc engine: Increased performance with improved useability
For 2022 Yamaha’s engineers have worked flat-out to create the most powerful engine ever fitted to a production YZ125. In their quest for stronger race-winning performance the design team have built an all-new 125cc, 2-stroke engine that develops significantly higher power in the mid to high rpm range.

Virtually every major component on the 2022 engine is new, and the comprehensive redesign delivers a significant increase in the maximum power output, to give the YZ125 a real winning advantage when the gate drops. The increased power together with improved useability and a better over-rev feeling enable motocross racers to take maximum advantage of the horsepower gains and outperform the opposition on all parts of the track.

All-new head, cylinder and piston
The YZ125’s cylinder head, cylinder and piston are completely redesigned as part of the drive towards achieving increased performance along with enhanced power characteristics. The most significant changes include a reshaped combustion chamber, as well as a shorter exhaust port and revised cylinder porting which give a significant improvement in combustion efficiency.

Newly designed YPVS
To complement the head and cylinder changes, a newly designed YPVS is featured. The maximum lift on the new exhaust power valve has been revised, and the timing of its opening and closing are also modified in order to improve engine performance and also enhance driveability.

New Keihin carburettor and V-Force reed valve assembly
A major feature on the new engine is the use of a Keihin PWK 38.1mm carburettor equipped with a solenoid controlled power jet that gives an instant hit of power when required. The new carburettor features a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) as well as a 3D map controlled CDI that ensures optimised ignition timing. Together with a new V-Force reed valve assembly and a revised manifold design, this new intake and carburettor gives the YZ125 rider stronger acceleration for out of the gate, and more explosive power when exiting corners.

Longer con rod and heavier crank
Other internal changes that contribute towards the new engine’s increased output include a longer con rod as well as a slightly heavier crank. This results in increased inertia that optimises the engine’s behaviour, and the revised crank balance is designed to match the new engine’s increased power output.

New high-efficiency air intake system
A key feature on the new YZ125 is its completely redesigned air intake system. By redesigning the rear frame as well as both sidepanels and reshaping the seat base, Yamaha’s engineers have reduced the resistance to incoming air by 15% and succeeded in dramatically increasing overall intake efficiency on the new model. This not only contributes significantly towards improving the mid to high rpm pulling power and improving the over-rev character, it also sharpens the low to mid rpm throttle response for more stable running at lower revs.

New exhaust pipe and shorter silencer
The dimensions and shape of the exhaust have been changed for 2022 to match the other changes to the engine for optimised power and useability. The expansion pipe’s diameter is slightly reduced at its widest point, and the silencer is 50mm shorter.

Stronger and smoother shifting transmission
The YZ125’s 6-speed transmission has been strengthened for 2022 in order to handle the increase in maximum power. Secondary reduction ratio is slightly increased with the use of a 13/49 front/rear sprocket set – previously 13/48 – and for improved driveability 5th and 6th gears run with a slightly reduced ratio.

A new shift shaft and redesigned return spring give a much smoother shift feel, and to handle the increased engine power the new YZ125 features uprated clutch springs.

Athletic and more compact body
The 2022 YZ125 is equipped with slimmer tank, new seat and revised graphics that give the bike a radical, modern and athletic look to complement its increased engine performance – as well as enabling the rider to achieve an even higher degree of chassis control.

Flatter seat
For improved rider ability, freer movement and easier body weight shifting the seat’s upper surface has been flattened by lowering the front by 6mm and raising the rear by 5mm, while the new fuel tank blends seamlessly with the front of the seat – and for easier maintenance there’s also a new single-bolt seat fixing.

Slimmer tank and radiator shrouds
The YZ125 is already one of the lightest and most agile dirt bikes in its class, and the new model is even slimmer thanks to the use of a new fuel tank and narrow radiator shrouds that make this the most compact YZ125 ever. Width between the rider’s knees is reduced by nearly 36mm to give a real feeling of slimness and agility for improved ergonomics and rider mobility.

Newly designed fenders and sidepanels
To achieve the new high-efficiency air intake system the sidepanels, rear fender and underside of the new seat have been redesigned, so as to give an unrestricted flow of air into the airbox. The shape of the front fender has also been revised to give a more aerodynamic and dynamic look.

Newly designed rear frame
The YZ125’s is equipped with a performant, high-specification and lightweight aluminium semi-double cradle frame.  And for 2022 the detachable rear frame features a new mounting point for the shorter silencer, while a newly designed raised cross member allows for improved intake efficiency by giving a clear route for incoming air. This new cross member also accommodates the new single bolt seat mounting point for easier maintenance.

YZ125

Revised suspension settings
The YZ125’s KYB front and rear suspension systems are regarded as being amongst the best in class, incorporating a leaf-spring in the valve design that gives excellent damping at mid speeds. For 2022 these high-specification suspension systems are further refined, and both the front forks and rear shock feature revised low speed damping characteristics for enhanced chassis performance.

More powerful front brake and lighter rear brake
For increased braking power together with more precise feel the new model is equipped with a new more rigid twin-pot caliper and redesigned 270mm diameter disc. Featuring larger diameter 25.4mm pistons together with new pads that give a 30% increase in contact area with the disc, this new more powerful front braking system enables riders to reduce lap times by braking harder and later.

New generation colours and graphics
The new YZ125 adopts the latest Icon Blue colours consisting of a duo-tone finish that blends Yamaha’s famous Icon Blue with a dark matte blue. The all-new body and new in-mould graphics accentuate the dynamic and athletic stance of this new generation 125cc model, and clearly demonstrate Yamaha’s commitment to delivering the most competitive and attractive package to tomorrow’s champions.

YZ250

New YZ250: 2 Strokes. First place.
Few other motocross bikes can come close to matching the Yamaha YZ250 2-stroke in terms of its history, enduring world-wide popularity and its enviable track record. It was the original YZ250 that gave Yamaha its first ever World Championship with Håkan Andersson back in 1973 – the first of many 250cc FIM World Championship and AMA Supercross titles to be claimed by this iconic motocross bike over the next few decades by some of the sport’s greatest riders.

And today this remarkable race bike’s reputation and popularity are as strong as ever with those riders who appreciate its light weight, mechanical simplicity, great looks and winning performance. It’s fair to say that the YZ250 is a true legend in the off road world – how many other motocross bikes have dedicated Facebook pages with thousands of followers!

For 2022 the evolution of this highly successful motocross bike continues, and the new YZ250 comes with all-new super slim bodywork that sharpens up its profile to make it one of the most dynamic looking bikes on the track. But the new model is much more than simply a cosmetic restyle, and its new enhanced chassis specification includes more powerful braking, revised suspension, new lightweight components and a high-efficiency intake system.

Super-slim body with strong horizontal line
The YZ250 is equipped with all-new super slim bodywork that is similar to the design used on the all-new YZ125, and features a strong horizontal line that gives the bike an aggressive and purposeful look. The new tank and radiator shrouds give much narrower dimensions between the rider’s knees for enhanced rider mobility when weight shifting and cornering – and the compact body also creates a feeling of lightness and agility that reinforce the athletic character of the new model.

Flatter seat
As well as the narrower body width, the 2022 YZ250 features a newly designed seat that has a flatter upper surface that improves the bike’s ergonomics and makes front/rear weight shifting easier and quicker.

New rear fender and sidepanels give enhanced air intake efficiency
The front fenders features a sharper and more dynamic look, and the sidepanels and rear fender have been redesigned to enhance air intake efficiency. This is done by incorporating larger rear vents in the sidepanels, as well as designing the underside of the seat and the shape of the top of the rear fender so that they do not impede air flow. The resulting increase in overall intake efficiency contributes towards improved performance at higher engine speeds. And to match the new air intake the YZ250 is fitted with a new exhaust featuring a revised shape and modified dimensions.

Lighter and more powerful brakes
The new YZ250 features a powerful new braking system that delivers increased performance and feel while at the same time reducing weight. The newly designed 270mm front disc is the same diameter as previously, but by fitting a new more rigid caliper with larger diameter 25.4mm pistons, the new front brake has a 30% larger pad area. This combination of higher caliper rigidity together with a much larger pad area gives outstanding braking power as well as accurate feel for precision one-finger braking.

The rear brake has also been improved with the fitment of a slightly smaller diameter 240mm disc – down by 5mm – as well as a newly designed caliper that gives the same pad area and braking performance as the previous model, while saving almost 100g in weight.

Revised suspension settings
The YZ250’s 48mm high-specification KYB SSS front forks and KYB link-type Monocross rear suspension set the industry benchmark, and for 2022 the factory settings have been revised to give even better low speed damping characteristics.

Weight saving components
Further small but nevertheless important weight reductions have been achieved by the use of a newly designed clutch lever and rear sprocket.

New colours and graphics
The 2022 YZ250 is finished in a dynamic and high quality Icon Blue duo-tone finish with durable in-mould graphics that are designed to withstand harsh motocross riding conditions.

YZ250 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition
For 2022 Yamaha will release an exclusive new YZ250 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition. Finished in Monster Black colour and featuring factory replica graphics that make this legendary motocross bike even more of an attention grabber on the track and in the paddock.

This is the first time that this exclusive colour and graphics package has been offered on the YZ250, and is inspired by the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 team bikes.

Technical specifications for YZ250 and YZ250 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition are the same.

YZ250 Technical Highlights

  • 250cc 2-stroke liquid-cooled YPVS motor

YZ85

YZ85: Victory. Never given, always earned.
Many of today’s motocross legends started out on the Yamaha YZ85. Light, nimble, fast and reliable, this is a high-specification scaled down version of Yamaha’s larger capacity race bikes. Featuring much of the same advanced engine and chassis technology as the YZ125 and YZ250, the new 2022 YZ85 is the very best start that any racer can get on the long and exciting journey towards a career as a professional racer.

With compact new bodywork as well as a flatter seat and range of chassis revisions, many of the changes on the new YZ85 mirror those seen on the all-new YZ125 – and like its larger sibling, the new YZ85 is designed to deliver a stronger, better and more athletic package for riders aiming for the victorYZone.

Dynamic new styling
The new 2022 styling bears a close resemblance to the larger capacity YZ models, and the compact new bodywork features a strong horizontal theme that  together with the flat seat and restyled sidepanels gives this youth race bike a confident and aggressive stance.

The new duo-tone colour scheme features contrasting areas of Icon Blue and dark matte blue – and the new in-mould graphics are designed to withstand many motos in tough conditions, helping to keep this high-tech race bike looking good throughout the season.

Slim new bodywork

For 2022 the YZ85 is equipped with slimmer bodywork that gives the rider greater freedom of body movement for a higher degree of control when accelerating, braking and cornering. The redesigned radiator shrouds are 25mm narrower at their widest point, and now feature a uniform left-right configuration that adds to the balanced feel of the bike from the rider’s viewpoint.

There’s also a newly designed front fender with an upper that’s designed to help direct airflow into the YZ85’s radiator for effective cooling and consistently strong engine performance. The dynamic design also complements the compact new bodywork and reinforces the bike’s YZ family DNA it has inherited from the YZ125.

YZ85

Flatter seat and redesigned fuel tank
And like the YZ125, the new YZ85 is equipped with a flatter seat that enables the rider to shift their body weight more easily. The ergonomics are further improved by the new 5-litre fuel tank with a redesigned fuel cap that gives greater freedom of body movement towards the front of the bike. The seat also adopts a new single bolt fixing, making routine maintenance easier and quicker.

Rear position high-efficiency air intake
Newly designed sidepanels on the YZ85 perform two important roles: Firstly, their smooth and close fitting design promotes rider manoeuvrability for rapid front/rear weight shifting. And secondly they feature new rear vents that give a straighter flow of air into the engine’s airbox, thereby giving greater intake efficiency for improved engine performance.

More linear rear brake performance
For a more linear rear braking character the YZ85 is equipped with a new master cylinder with a built-in sub-reservoir. This new more efficient design replaces the previous model’s separate reservoir and connecting hose to give a more natural and linear brake feel with more precise feedback.

Lightweight aluminium rear frame and new swingarm
For 2022 the chassis on the new YZ85 is equipped with a new lightweight aluminium rear frame that is 570gr lighter than the steel unit used on the previous model, a significant reduction in weight that also contributes towards the bike’s mass centralisation.

Also new is a redesigned swingarm that features a revised balance between its longitudinal rigidity and torsional rigidity. This subtle but significant change improves chassis stability and allows the rider to transmit power to the ground more effectively.

YZ85 Technical Highlights

  • 85cc 2-stroke YPVS engine
  • Fully adjustable KYB suspension
  • Large diameter wave-type disc brakes
  • Slim and dynamic new style
  • Reduced weight
  • New bodywork
  • Improved ergonomics
  • Narrower bodywork between the rider’s knees
  • New left/right shrouds with uniform configuration
  • New fuel tank, seat and sidepanels
  • Improved air intake efficiency
  • Lightweight aluminium rear frame
  • Redesigned swingarm with revised rigidity
  • More progressive rear brake
  • New Icon Blue duo-tone colours and in-mould graphics
YZ450

YZ450F & YZ250F: Proven MXGP and MX2 winners
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 riders clearly demonstrated the winning performance of the YZ450F and YZ250F with a number of hard-fought race wins in 2020 that secured them the vice-Champion overall in both the MXGP and MX2 World Championships, as well the MX2 Manufacturer Title.

For 2022 these cutting-edge high-tech race bikes continue with a range of technical changes designed to optimise their proven winning potential. Both models are lighter and feature revised suspension settings as well as a new rear sprocket with a gold-coloured chain, and DID wheel rims are fitted. The YZ250F rear wheel features a wider 2.15 rim and a 110/90 tyre, as well as a lighter hub and revised spoke pattern. And with the Yamaha Power Tuner on the YZ450F and YZ250F, riders and their technicians are enabled to make instant changes to engine character via a mobile phone – to quickly and easily set-up their bike to suit different tracks and changing surface conditions.

The YZ450F and YZ250F Icon Blue colour scheme features a new duo-tone blue body, as well as new in-mould graphics. Yamaha will also continue to offer both models in the Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition with Monster Black bodywork and factory team style graphics.

YZ65

YZ65

Honda Motor Europe celebrate ten of the best European dealer-built custom CB650Rs

This summer, Honda Motor Europe was planning on showcasing ten of the best European dealer- built custom CB650Rs from France, Spain and Portugal at the Wheels & Waves festival in Biarritz, France from June 30th to July 4th.

Despite the show being cancelled, Honda still wanted to show motorcyclists across Europe the amazing ideas and customisations from the creative minds within their European dealer network, and are giving visitors to the Honda Customs webpage (www.hondacustoms.com) the opportunity to vote for their favourite.

Among the ten are a bike that pays tribute to the resurgence of a dealership following a devastating fire, a tribute to the classic French endurance racers of yesteryear and the seminal CB750 Four ‘K0’ from 1969.

The Honda Customs page is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Once users have voted for their winner, they will be able to download a wallpaper of their chosen bike for desktop or mobile as well as share their choice across their social media channels. The ‘prize’ for the winning dealer? Nothing more than the honour of having their creation voted as the best CB650R custom in Europe!

Here is a run-down of the ten bikes.

CB650R HEDICION by Motor Sport, Spain

CB650R HEDICION
Builder: Motor Sport, Madrid, Spain.
“Our CB650R Motorsport represents the transversal spirit of Honda, breaking the barrier that separates cars from motorcycles…”
In homage to Honda sporting history Motor Sport have used the 1966 Brabham Honda BT18 racing car as a rolling touchstone. Their bike’s unique, subtle green and yellow paint is complemented by blacked out handlebars, footrests, front forks and wheels. And, just like the car, its inline four-cylinder engine is the centrepiece, with cam cover picked out in yellow. A full titanium Akrapovič exhaust adds lightweight performance while the carbon-fibre nose cone and seat cowl are finishing details.

CB650R AKIRA by Hakuba Motor, Spain

CB650R AKIRA
Builder: Hakuba Motor, Santander, Spain.
“If there is a word that defines our concept then it is kaizen.”
From the Japanese Kaizen (meaning ‘to improve’), Hakuba Motor’s sleek CB650R Akira reflects the never-ending quest for improvements, no matter how small. The classic single seat unit is a one-off carbon-fibre creation, topped with a nubuck leather seat trimmed in red to key with the subtle ‘straight line’ silver and red paint. CBR650R clip-on handlebars bolt straight on and the electronics are now sited in their own compartment under the seat. A titanium Arrow muffler underlines the minimalist ethos.

CB650R CAFÉ RACER by Blanmoto Honda, Spain

CB650R CAFÉ RACER
Builder: Blanmoto Honda, Girona, Spain.
“A celebration of our custom dreams, and of a business founded in 1928.”
Blanmoto have gone down a ‘steam punk meets café racer’ route with their CB650R. And while its look is completely transformed, many of the parts used are from ‘mainstream’ suppliers such as Puig, PSR, Givi and Rizoma. Naturally, detail custom fabrication abounds: the seat has been modified and re-upholstered (alongside upholstered side covers) and there are new side-scoops manufactured from 1.5mm aluminium sheet. A blacked-out Arrow end-can injects stubby simplicity

CB650R FENIX by Mototrofa, Portugal

CB650R FENIX
Builder: Mototrofa Honda, Trofa, Portugal.
“The name was obvious to us as, in 2019, our workshop was completely destroyed…”
As an emblem of renewal, the CB650R Fenix is a special symbol for the entire Mototrofa team, whose dealership has risen again from the ashes of a devastating fire. And while looking totally modern it also makes use of past Honda models. The single-sided swingarm and rear wheel are from a VFR750F, the front wheel from a CBR900RR FireBlade. Custom parts include the seat and rear cowl and the ‘93’ paint scheme (by Nexx Helmets) both pays homage to the incredible Marc Marquez and marks the year Mototrofa was founded.

CB65R FOUR
Builder: Sagaz Honda, Toulouse, France.
“The legend of the Bol d’Or meets Neo Sports Café…”
Honda’s 24 hour endurance efforts are the races of true legend, and this CB650R has been built to celebrate the 1976 edition and the Honda RCB1000 raced by Jean-Claude Chemarin and Roger Ruiz. The red, white and blue colour scheme and Honda logos – seamlessly applied by A Brax Custom painting – instantly invoke a picture from the 1970s, as does the bikini nose fairing. A sports pack, including engine guards and seat cowl, maintain the racing feel while a Bagster seat neatly trims the mid-section.

CB650R WHITE EDITION by 3C Motos, France

CB650R WHITE EDITION
Builder: 3C Motos, Anglet, France.
“It’s family. To mirror the beautiful CB1000R Black Edition we have its little sister – the CB650R White Edition!”
The 3C Motos’ CB650R White Edition was conceived by 3C Motos in Biarritz to complement their moody ‘Black Edition’ CB1000R of 2019. Its paint – using matt white and varying shades of gloss white – adds texture and depth, and crowns the muscular depth of the jet-black engine and wheels. A CB1000R front master cylinder clamps neatly to the handlebar and Dunlop Sportsmart TT tyres finish the subtle – yet aggressive – look.

CB650R BMX by Werther, France

CB650R BMX
Builder: Werther, Nice, France.
“Fun and stylish, just like doing a wheelie on a BMX bike.”
There’s more than a hint of BMX stunt bike on the Werther machine. The gloss black paint pops eyeballs, as do black forks, gold engine cases and wheels. And not to forget the whitewall tyres. For a bike built to perform, a shorter final drive gear ratio (plus black/gold chain, naturally) makes for instant acceleration, with a full Akrapovič exhaust system adding to the engine’s performance. An NMB Design seat, adjustable levers and grips, plus Puig gold bar ends and black footrests stand out, while smoked varnish on the front/rear lights and indicators are more subtle details.

CB650R KarbOne EDITION by AZ Moto, France

CB650R KarbOne EDITION
Builder: AZ Moto, Rouen, France.
“A homage to the spirit of a famous and legendary model – the Honda CB750 Four K0.”
The bike that started it all for the modern era of motorcycling, the four-cylinder CB750 ‘K0’ stunned the world in 1969, and AZ Motos CB650R KarbOne, with its metallic gold paint, pays deep respect to its illustrious forbear. SEB Auto Shop are responsible for the bespoke carbon fibre parts like the rear seat unit and headlight surround; the stunning black rims (with chromed spokes) are supplied by Evo-X Racing and wear Dunlop Mutant tyres. Black Topema epoxy paint covers the engine, handlebars, rear shock and cam cover while all the finishing parts are readily available from the likes of Puig and Chaft.

CB650R FLAT TRACKER by ADN Motors, France

CB650R FLAT TRACKER
Builder: ADN Motos, Cognac, France.
“In the spirit of vintage flat track and supermotard here is our little gem.”
Flat track DNA runs through ADN Motos’ CB650R and they’re rightly proud of it. Choice parts include a remote licence plate holder with integrated brake light and indicators, black and red Kineo spoked rims and Acerbis hand guards. The evocative nose cone and rear seat are custom fabrications while the yellow-tinted headlight glass adds a vintage feel. A twin-muffler titanium Arrow full exhaust system adds satisfactory bark and bite while Dunlop Mutant tyres have the look of cut slicks.

CB650R FOUR Limited Edition
Builder: Espace Motos, Angers, France.
“Neo Sports Café rides with the legendary CB750 Four”
For Espace Motos, the legend of the CB750 Four lives on in the spirit of the Neo Sports Café family, led by the CB1000R and hugely popular CB650R. To respect the legend they added a raised, flatter brown leather seat and for the paint chose green with gold pinstriping, plus an ‘80s Honda logo. The paint also extends to the headlight surround, front mudguard, rear scoops and spring. Vintage-style bar-end mirrors, black footpegs and scrambler tyres complete the makeover.

The new BMW CE 04

The new BMW CE 04 – the silent revolution: A new chapter in electrically powered urban two-wheel mobility.

Urban freedom

“It’s early in the morning. The city is awakening. On the way to my garage I breathe in the still cool air. I’m wear a casually cut parka that’s both fashionable and functional at the same time. The protectors are inconspicuous but give me a sense of security. I’m ready for the day to start.

My BMW CE 04 is in the garage. I am thrilled by its futuristic design style. The low position of the battery gives the scooter an entirely new geometry – a complete departure from previous conventions. I’m glad to see it again. It’s a great feeling – every day.

For me, it’s the symbol of a new era – the era of the silent revolution.

The first birds are chirping, the urban jungle is awakening. The sounds of the city begin to swell. Everything is set in motion. People move – with each other and in parallel. Paths cross.

What will the new day bring? Tapas with friends at the little bar by the river? Or the exhibition at the modern art museum? First of all there are appointments at the office. Workshops, meetings, customer visits. This is what life feels like.

I pair my smartphone with the scooter, and with a flick of my wrist I activate the parka. Its LEDs light up. I’m quiet, but I want to be seen. It’s all so simple and smooth.

We’re off again at last. Even when I was having my breakfast, I couldn’t wait. Not even the birds notice me. I glide almost silently through my neighbourhood. I’m a part of the city again.

People start to look at me at the traffic lights. My sitting position is upright, relaxed. A new message flashes on the display, my smartphone is charging in the storage compartment.

Green light. With the scooter’s torque, I can float away ahead of the rest. I’m a rocket. But a silent one.

I feel as if I was on the Bonanza bike back in the day – cool and superior, but now connected to the world and one step ahead. Technology and style. Is this freedom? Yes – only better. No traffic jams, no having to search for a parking space. For me, it’s all time I save.

Acceleration, speed, bends – the BMW CE 04 doesn’t just master them, it redefines them. I glide through the traffic – the seat itself seems to float. It feels just right. Surfing bends is superbly enjoyable. Pure fun, from wave to wave.

The evening was beautiful, down by the river. We laughed a lot. The city motorway doesn’t forgive mistakes – my scooter sprints away and my parka glows in the dark of night. I’m clearly visible and arrive safely at my destination. Quietly, I glide into the driveway to my garage, again almost unnoticed by the birds. Good night, my city. We’ll be in touch.”

“The BMW CE 04 is our new electric star for the city. It combines an e-drive with emotion and motorcycling fun. The latest technology, and the best battery cells, which also provide power in the BMW iX. Just like the CE 04, all future new BMW Motorrad models for urban mobility will be pure electric.”
Oliver Zipse, CEO of BMW AG.

The new BMW CE 04 – the silent revolution: A new chapter in electrically powered urban two-wheel mobility.

With the new BMW CE 04, BMW Motorrad continues to consistently pursue its electromobility strategy for urban conurbations. As the final series production vehicle of the BMW Motorrad Concept Link originally showcased in 2017 and the near-series BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 unveiled in 2020, the BMW CE 04 opens up a whole new chapter in two-wheel urban mobility. With its electric drive, forward-looking design and innovative connectivity solutions, the new scooter merges transport and communication functions for a new brand of mobility in the urban environment.

Plenty of power and ample range for supreme riding in the city and in urban areas.

With a maximum output of 31 kW (42 hp), the new BMW CE 04 has a powerful motor and offers outstanding riding pleasure. For the classic “traffic light start” discipline from 0 to 50 km/h, it takes just fast 2.6 seconds. Even in the reduced output L3e-A1 vehicle class, 23 kW (31 hp) drive power is available. The maximum speed of both versions is 120 km/h – for speedy progress not just in the city but on main roads and motorway sections, too.

The new BMW CE 04 has an ample battery cell capacity of 60.6 Ah (8.9 kWh), providing a range of some 130 kilometres (reduced output version: 100 km). This enables day-to-day emission-free riding in the city, in an urban setting and for smaller-scale fun tours after work or at the weekend – with complete peace of mind.

Innovative electric drive with liquid-cooled electric motor.

The new BMW CE 04 has a permanent magnet electric motor mounted in the frame between the battery and the rear wheel, as used in a similar form in BMW cars such as the 225xe Active Tourer. BMW Motorrad conducted extensive riding tests to develop a specific type of recuperation for each riding mode, giving the rider a high-level convenience. This means that optimum performance and riding characteristics are available in every situation on the road.

Short charging times and charging technology based on the system used in cars.

The lithium-ion battery is charged using the integrated charging device either at a regular household socket, a wallbox or a public charging station. When the battery is completely flat, charging time ideally lasts 4 hours and 20 minutes. With the quick charger available as an optional extra with an output of up to 6.9 kW (2.3 kW is the standard level), charging time is reduced to just 1 hour and 40 minutes when the battery is completely flat. If the battery level is only 20 per cent and the battery is charged to 80 per cent, the charging time is reduced to just 45 minutes with the optional quick charger. Depending on the market, the standard charging cable with a charging capacity of 2.3 kW comes as standard with the BMW CE 04.

A Mode 3 charging cable is required for fast charging at the wallbox at home or at a public charging station. In the same way as with BMW automobiles, BMW Charging solutions are available for the BMW CE 04, too – for maximum flexibility based on numerous customised programmes for charging at home, on the road and at work.

Increased riding stability through slip control by means of ASC (Automatic Stability Control). DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) as an ex works option.

This traction control system is available on the new BMW CE 04, comparable to the Automatic Stability Control in BMW motorcycles with combustion engine. ASC limits engine torque in relation to rear wheel slip. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), available as an optional extra, provides even greater riding safety. DTC enables even more safe acceleration, especially in banking position.

Three riding modes “ECO”, “Rain” and “Road” for efficient, day-to-day use as standard. “Dynamic” riding mode for further enhanced riding pleasure as an ex works option.

In developing the BMW CE 04, BMW Motorrad attached particular importance to providing opportunities for the rider to make an individual choice between maximum efficiency and maximum riding fun. Accordingly, the new BMW CE 04 features the three riding modes “ECO”, “Rain” and “Road” as standard. The additional “Dynamic” riding mode is also available as an ex works option, enabling the scooter to accelerate at an even swifter pace.

Directionally stable suspension with one-piece tubular steel main frame for smooth handling and a high level of ride comfort.

The main frame is a tubular steel construction. The front wheel is controlled by a telescopic fork with a slider tube diameter of 35 mm. Rear wheel control consists of a single-sided swing arm. At the rear, suspension and damping are performed by a directly controlled, fully covered spring strut. The new BMW CE 04 is fitted with generously sized tyres, with 120/70 R15 67H at the front and 160/60 R15 56H at the rear.

Powerful brake system with latest-generation ABS. ABS Pro with banking capability as an ex works option.

At the front, a twin disc brake ensures secure deceleration, supported by a single-disc system at the rear. In addition, BMW Motorrad ABS ensures a high level of active safety. ABS Pro, available as an optional extra, goes even further: By means of a banking sensor, ABS Pro also controls braking on bends, thereby offering the greatest possible safety.

10.25” TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation for convenient route planning and extensive connectivity as standard.

The new BMW CE 04 comes fitted as standard with a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation and connectivity. Its excellent readability, clear menu navigation and highly integrated operating concept put the new BMW CE 04 at the top of the scooter segment. For the first time, the new 10.25-inch colour screen makes it possible to display a navigation map in the instrument cluster, so no additional display is needed.

Powerful LED lighting units all round. Adaptive Headlight Pro and light functions as ex works options.

The lighting units on the new BMW CE 04 are based on state-of-the-art LED technology. They include a headlamp for high beam and low beam at the front. In addition to a rear light featuring LED technology, there are also LED turn indicators. The indicator lamps likewise use LED technology. Even greater safety at night is offered by the adaptive turning light Headlight Pro, available as an ex works option. Here, the rider benefits from further improved illumination of the road when cornering for even safer riding at night. Special light functions such as “Welcome” and “Good Bye” are also available as ex works options.

Future-oriented design and colour scheme.

The new BMW CE 04 embodies a new, forward-looking form of urban two-wheeled mobility in its design as well, featuring an innovative style that arouses emotions for this new drive technology while instantly identifying the scooter as a member of the BMW Motorrad family. The modern surface finish is in a striking Light White, complemented by matt black sections in the front and side areas as well as the “floating” seat. In addition, there are trend-setting wheels (solid wheels) featuring a disc-wheel look and a side stand that is integrated in the design styling. The new BMW CE 04 in Avantgarde Style (ex works option) is a striking, colourful statement of contemporary urban mobility. In this style, the colour Magellan Grey metallic is supplemented with a black/orange seat, an orange wind deflector and various graphics.

“The new BMW CE 04 is the logical and at the same time rethought continuation of BMW Motorrad’s electromobility strategy. Urban conurbations are its element. This is where it sets a new benchmark – in terms of both technology and visual style.” Florian Roemhild, Project Manager BMW CE 04.

The highlights of the new BMW CE 04:

  • Rated output 15 kW (20 hp). Maximum output 31 kW (42 hp).
Reduced output version: 11 kW (15 hp) or 23 kW (31 hp).
