Suzuki’s championship-winning motocross range now on 0% finance

Suzuki’s Arenacross championship-winning RM-Z450 will be available on 0% finance from April 1, along with the RM-Z250, which currently leads the World MX2 championship.

In the hands of Thomas Ramette, Suzuki’s RM-Z450 has won the Arenacross title for the last three years in a row with SR75 World Team Suzuki, and in 2017 filled the first three places in the championship standings, with Ramette joined by Angelo Pellegrini and Cedric Soubeyras in the top three. The bike features a second generation holeshot-assist system, developed in tandem with Suzuki’s factory race bikes, and comes with Showa’s race-proven SFF Air front forks. It also comes with Suzuki’s rich/lean couplers, allowing riders to alter the fuelling with ease to suit riding conditions.

The RM-Z450 is available for £125 per month over 36 months, with a £2,099 deposit.

Suzuki’s RM-Z250, which is currently leading the World MX2 championship, can be owned for £115 per month over 36 months with a deposit of £2,259. The newest RM-Z250 gets a revamped engine over the previous generation machine, featuring 80 new components and a lighter, redesigned frame. It also gets Suzuki’s holeshot-assist system.

Suzuki GB national sales manager, Jonathan Martin, said of the new campaign, “In the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 we have two motocross machines that have proven their abilities to win races and win championships. From April, we will be making it even easier for racers to access that winning pedigree by offering the bikes on 0% finance for a limited period, meaning riding a new Suzuki is even more affordable.”

Peugeot Tweet with Easymotion for 2017

Peugeot’s big wheel Tweet scooter gets the new Easymotion engine, stylish signature lighting and a choice of linked or ABS brakes for 2017.

Designed to meet tough Euro 4 emissions regulations, the 125cc Easymotion engine is fuel injected and returns 117 mpg (tested under World Motorcycle Test Cycle conditions).

Light (109kg) and compact (only 690 mm at its widest point) the Tweet 125 is ideally suited to congested urban streets. Large 16” wheels and adjustable twin rear shock-absorbers provide confidence in corners, high stability and more comfort on poorly maintained road surfaces.

Rider confidence is further boosted by the introduction of SBC braking, which is as effective as it is easy to operate. Simply apply the left lever to activate the Synchro Braking Concept, which simultaneously brakes the front and rear wheels, distributing the effort to slow the scooter, without locking the wheels or diving at the front end. In case of emergency braking, using the right-hand lever adds power to the front brake.

Alternatively, a full-ABS version of the Tweet 125 is available.

The new 125cc Tweet also features a front panel accentuated with bright LED signature lighting and a completely redesigned digital dashboard, adding a dash of contemporary style.

With a lockable glove compartment, bag hook, luggage rack and storage compartment beneath the seat, the Tweet combines carrying capacity with convenience.

The Tweet 125 SBC is priced at £2,299- including a two-year unlimited mileage parts and labour warranty and comes in black, white, grey or blue. The ABS version sells for £2,499- in black, grey or white.

Full specifications and details of all authorised Peugeot Scooter dealers can be found at www.peugeotscooters.co.uk.

Notes – Price includes manufacturer’s delivery, pre-delivery inspection, petrol, number plate and VAT at 20%. Government first registration fee and vehicle excise duty are not included and will be charged at the prevailing rate. Price and specifications correct at time of print.

KTM Trick Scot – KevinCarmichael appointed as official UK KTM stunt rider

Kevin Carmichael appointed as official UK KTM stunt rider

World renowned ‘extreme motorcycle rider’, Kevin Carmichael, has become KTM’s official stunt performer in the UK.

The Scotsman has been a professional stunt rider since 1997, becoming European champion in the same year and then clinching the title again continuously from 1999 to 2002. A regular face at motorcycle events across the world, he was the first rider to wheelie a superbike with no front wheel or forks and pioneered the use of a bar-mounted rear brake.

Looking to take his dynamic show to the next level, for his 2017 show season, Kevin, 49, will utilise a diverse range of KTM’s Ready to Race machinery, including the 690 DUKE – the world’s most powerful single cylinder – along with the new ‘Beast’ 1290 SUPER DUKE R and a 250 EXC-F enduro machine.

Kevin Carmichael said: “KTM is the most exciting motorcycle brand, so naturally I’m really happy to be working with them. Coming from an off-road background, I’ve always admired their approach to motocross and enduro and they’ve carried this individual character on to their street bikes.
“Since getting behind the bars of the 690 DUKE I’m incredibly impressed with how light and balanced the bike is and I’ve only just scratched the surface of its potential. As for the 1290 SUPER DUKE R, well, you never see those on two wheels anyway!”

Carmichael made his ‘orange debut’ at the MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show on March 11, performing heart-racing shows across the weekend event to large crowds. Throughout 2017 he will be performing at multiple rounds of the MCE British Superbike Championship. Visit Kevin’s Facebook page to find out about forthcoming shows.

Avon Tyres increases Cobra tyre Production for Triumph Bonneville Bobber

Avon Tyres has ramped up production of its acclaimed Cobra motorcycle tyre in response to the successful launch of the new Triumph Bonneville Bobber.

The Cobra product is the OE fit rubber on which every Bobber rolls off the production line, with the bespoke front and rear tyres specially designed for this premium custom bike.

The new twin-cylinder machine appeared at the end of last year to massive critical acclaim from journalists, industry influencers and the great British riding public.

High demand for the Bobber since its launch means that Avon’s Melksham-based factory has expanded production for the Cobra tyres, investing in additional manufacturing capacity to satisfy increased demand for the bike.

The Bobber’s radical chassis and styling meant that by working closely with Avon’s in-house development team, both firms were able to come up with the perfect riding solution – an all-new Cobra tyre, with special carcass construction and materials to suit the Bobber’s unique set-up.

Speaking about the production increase, Doug Ross, Avon Tyres’ Head of Global Motorcycle Tyre Sales, said: “This project has been a fantastic success for both Triumph and Avon. It’s also a real win for British manufacturing, showcasing the best of British at the highest level.”

Sam Sunderland Takes Red Bull KTM Factory Rally Machine for London City Tour

The 2017 Dakar Rally champion, Sam Sunderland, enjoyed a celebratory touristic ride around London yesterday (Friday 17th February) aboard his ultra-special Red Bull KTM 450 FACTORY RALLY machine.

Sunderland, who hails from Poole in Dorset, is the first British winner of the Dakar Rally in any class and following on from his outstanding victory, the 27-year-old racer took a ride around English capital to take in some of the sights.

It was an unusual spectacle with the Red Bull KTM 450 FACTORY RALLY machine being seen in such a busy city, where many fans took pictures as Sam rode around the likes of Canary Wharf, Westminster, across Tower Bridge and past many of the other famous London vistas.

Sunderland’s victory at the Dakar is an incredible one, especially as just over one year ago the Dubai-based Brit broke his femur, and in fact the 2017 edition of the race was the first time the KTM-ace has completed the event. This year the Dakar was ultra-tough with incredibly difficult navigation and weather conditions, as the riders competed over nearly 9,000km through Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina across 12 stages. Sunderland’s victory is the 16th consecutive win for KTM.

Sam’s London city tour was a special experience for the rally racer, as he’s usually more at home with riverbeds, dunes and desert, but today the KTM-star’s ride was completed when he rode into the MCN London Motorcycle Show at the ExCeL exhibition centre, which was broadcast on Facebook Live. Sam will be spending some time meeting fans and signing autographs over the weekend at the event.

Sam Sunderland – 2017 Dakar Rally winner
“It’s been really cool to come back to London and see some British fans that are so passionate about what I’ve done. It makes me feel excited about it, I really enjoy meeting the fans, as it’s very humbling. Today I got to ride my rally bike around London to do some sightseeing like a tourist, and it was quite special as obviously normally the bike is at races like Dakar, in the desert, or on rough terrain. We certainly got quite a lot of looks from people and photos taken. It was a strange, but really cool day, cruising around over Tower Bridge, by Houses of Parliament and so on. It’s been really fun and great to be at home in the UK.”

BMW Motorrad UK brings full 2017 range to MCN London Show

Complete range of 2017 models on display at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show.

BMW Motorrad UK will have its full line-up of 2017 models on display at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle show from 17 to 19 February at the Excel, giving enthusiasts who missed Motorcycle Live a chance to get up close to the new model range.

The reaction to the 2017 model range at Motorcycle Live was overwhelmingly positive, with new additions to the Heritage range proving parituclarly popular. Alongside the Heritage range will be heavily-revised versions of the R 1200 GS, in Rallye and Exclusive variants.

The R nineT Racer and the R nineT Urban G/S will also be at the show, joined by the raw R nineT Pure, all three offering a distinct look and feel. The original R nineT is also set to be on display, featuring changes for Euro 4.

Following its recent press launch in Spain, interest around the R 1200 GS Rallye and Exclusive continues to grow. Both variants build on the already formidable and class-defining R 1200 GS and GS Adventure machines; the two best-selling bikes (over 125cc) in the UK in 2016.

Visitors to the show will be able to get a closer look at the BMW K 1600 GT and LE model also launched in Spain, which received equally glowing reviews from the press.

Upgrades and technical refinements abound in the S 1000 range. The BMW S 1000 RR ended 2016 as the UK’s most-popular supersport bike and continues to top group tests. Perhaps the most notable changes come to the S 1000 R, with a new exhaust, chassis and updated quick-shifter all gracing the now Euro 4-compliant roadster.

Both the lightweight BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS will again be on the stand, the pairing proving extremely popular at previous shows.

The entire F 800 range has been given technical updates with the F 800 RF 800 GS and GS Adventure model along with the F 800 GT tourer, all will be on display at the Excel show.

The ground-breaking BMW C evolution electric scooter range will also be on show in 2017 specification. Both scooters are now an even more attractive prospect thanks to a government OLEV grant amounting to a £1500 discount off the purchase price.

Having revealed their 2017 British Superbike rider line up at Motorcycle Live, the Tyco BMW team are set to show their colours for the new season in London.

BMW Motorrad UK’s National Marketing Manager Scott Grimsdall said: “The London Motorcycle show is another exciting opportunity for us to show the entire 2017 line-up of bikes and for those who missed out on Motorcycle Live it’s another chance to see our new bikes.

“We are incredibly excited about the 2017 model range and with updated versions of popular bikes like the R 1200 GS being joined by the growing Heritage range, we have a wider range of bikes than ever.”

The BMW Motorrad stand is M15.

See latest models in the Suzuki range at MCN London Show

Suzuki is gearing up for this year’s MCN London Motorcycle Show and with no fewer than 13 new models being added to Suzuki’s on-road range in 2017, there’s lots to show.

Taking centre stage will be the recently-launched GSX-R1000R, alongside the GSX-S750 and both the new V-Strom 650XT and V-Strom 1000XT machines – the standard V-Strom 650 will also be on display.

Suzuki’s hotly anticipated GSX-R1000R boasts a completely new engine and chassis, and features technology taken directly from the firm’s GSX-RR MotoGP racer – including a clever variable valve timing system (SR-VVT) never before seen on a production sportsbike.

Also on show will be the new naked GSX-S750 – with the legendary GSX-R-engined machine getting the same three-mode traction control as the bigger GSX-S1000. The GSX-R1000 K5-powered super-naked will also be on display.

Visitors to the show will also see the new Burgman 400, as well as the GSX-S125 and the GSX-R125 – a brand new entry point into Suzuki’s legendary range of sportsbikes for the first time.

The ever-popular SV650 will be displayed with Suzuki’s new Café Sport accessory pack, which includes a headlight cowling, number boards, and sports tuck-roll seat, alongside the revered Hayabusa and iconic GSX-R750.

The imposing Intruder M1800RBZ will also feature, as will the Address scooter, which has proven a hit with London and other city dwellers, thanks to its unrivalled practicality and enviable fuel economy figure of 145mpg*.

In the hands of Jeremy Seewer the RM-Z250 finished second in the 2016 world championship standings, taking countless podium finishes along the way. Suzuki’s MX2 machine will highlight the brand’s race-ready motocross range on its stand at the show.

2017 marks the anniversary of Barry Sheene’s second world title, and the XR14s that took him to championship glory in 1976 and 1977 will form part of Suzuki’s Vintage Parts attendance at the show, alongside the GSX-R750F that was restored at Motorcycle Live in 2015 and the GSX-R1100 that was rebuilt by students at Suzuki’s apprentice centre.

Team Classic Suzuki built its Katana endurance racer at last year’s Motorcycle Live, and will be announcing the rider lineup that it hopes will race to glory at this year’s Endurance Legends event at Donington Park on 6-7 May. The bike will be displayed on the Suzuki stand over the weekend.

Find the Suzuki stand at M90 at the MCN London Motorcycle Show from 17-19 February at London’s ExCeL. For more information on the show or for ticket information, visit: www.mcnmotorcycleshow.com
