Suzuki is bringing the new SV650 and its fleet of test ride machines to a number of popular biker haunts this summer, as its café demo days return for 2016, starting with a double-header at Loomies café on May 7-8.
Following a survey on social media that invited users to recommend their favourite biker cafés, 2016 sees eight events on the calendar – including a number of double-header weekends – meaning there are even more opportunities to test ride a new Suzuki this year.
As well as the new SV650, the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F models will also be available to try, as well as the Burgman 650 Executive, GSR750, V-Strom 650XT and V-Strom 1000, GSX-R1000 and GSX-R750, Hayabusa, and the Bandit 1250S.
Rob Cooper, Suzuki GB Marketing Manager, announced the dates, saying, “Our biker café days are now entering their third year, following two really popular years in 2014 and 2015. While many still head to dealerships to take test rides, our café days mean we’re also taking bikes to people who maybe haven’t considered one yet. But by putting the bikes in front of them at their favorite biker café and having people from our team on hand to talk about them, we’re making it even easier for them to try one. Especially as we have added a greater range of bikes this year. There are few places better to stop at on a ride out than a good biker café, and we’re looking forward to getting on the road and visiting as many as we can.”
Confirmed dates for 2016 include:
Loomies Café, West Meon – 7-8 May
Green Welly Stop, Tyndrum – 4-5 June
Rivington Hall Barn, Preston – 19 June
Super Sausage Café, Towcester – 25-26 June
Squires Café, Leeds – 2-3 July
Ponderosa Café, Llangollen – 10 July
Llandow Circuit Café, Llandow – 6-7 August
Hartside Café, Alston – 17-18 September

Suzuki has announced details of a new Vintage Insurance scheme, which offers owners of classic models bespoke policies with a great range of added benefits.
Available on machines over 20 years old, Suzuki’s Vintage Insurance continues the Japanese manufacturer’s drive and commitment to servicing the needs of owners of older models, with Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme already providing parts support for a growing range of machines since its launch at the end of 2013.
Vintage Insurance policies from Suzuki combine affordable premiums with other benefits, including cover at club rallies and when on static display, no excess, unlimited mileage, a free agreed value upfront, spare and dismantled parts cover, salvage retention rights, third party extension on other machines, up to £100,000 worth of legal expenses cover, and up to 10% off owners’ club membership fees.
Suzuki GB Aftersales Marketing Co-ordinator, Tim Davies, said, “We’re really committed to making life as easy as possible for owners of older and classic Suzuki machines; it’s why we launched our Vintage Parts Programme and why we’re delighted to now be able to offer Vintage Insurance policies, too. New bike sales are obviously a big focus for any manufacturer, but we also know how many people own or are looking for that classic purchase, and how popular the ownership of older machines still is. But we also know it comes with its challenges, like parts supply, and also finding an insurance policy that gives you what you need, and hopefully that is where our new scheme will come in.”
Eight models now feature on Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme, including the RGV250, the original GSX-R750F, and the GT250 X7, with downloadable manuals and parts lists, as well as original brochures and posters.

Suzuki has announced new special editions for its GSX-S1000/A and GSX-S1000FA models, which will come with a host of Yoshimura components and a new graphics kit, as well as a selection of specially picked genuine accessories.
Both special edition models will come with a Yoshimura R11 exhaust, as well as Yoshimura steering stem nut, timing plug, oil filler cap, and bar ends.

The pillion footrests are also removed and a pillion seat cowl provided, to enhance the sharp styling of the bike’s seat unit. Both the pegs and pillion seat will be supplied to customers as part of the RRP.
Available in authorised Suzuki dealerships from March, the non-ABS version of the GSX-S1000 Yoshimura edition comes with an RRP of £9,799, while the ABS variant will cost £10,299. The GSX-S1000FA version is available for £10,699.
Suzuki has announced the addition of the GSF600 Bandit to its popular Race Parts Programme, following the launch of the Suzuki Bandit Challenge series that will run with Formula Prostocks Racing in 2016.
The series, which is open to Mk1 and Mk2 600cc Bandits, is aimed at providing a competitive class of racing, while keeping costs to a minimum with reliable machinery and by limiting modifications.
To help make the class even more affordable Suzuki is offering ACU licence holders discounts of up to 58% on Bandit 600 parts, from complete gasket sets to carburettor assemblies, replacement crankcases to con-rods and pistons, and even replacement frames.
Suzuki GB’s Tim Davies said, “Here at Suzuki we love racing and it’s an important part of our brand heritage. The Formula Prostocks Suzuki Bandit Challenge is going to be a really great series, with close and competitive racing on similar machinery, all while keeping costs down by using a bike that’s developed a reputation for being incredibly reliable. However, we know going racing does cost money, which is why we’re delighted to offer ACU licence holders discounts on parts to keep their bikes on the track and keep them competitive.”
Keith Chambers from Formula Prostocks Racing, added, “Myself and a few friends were discussing how we started racing 15 or 20 years ago, and we all started in basic, affordable, production classes, where you would buy a road bike, strip off the lights, put on some decent tyres and go racing. And that’s how the Suzuki Bandit Challenge came to be. Although we all know that racing isn’t cheap, with the Bandit’s bulletproof motor, the fact that they sold so well and there are so many around, and Suzuki GB’s parts support, you can get a competitive race bike put together for relatively little money.”
The Bandit 600 joins the full stable of GSX-R machinery that is also included on Suzuki’s Race Parts Programme, as well as the SV650 and SFV650.

Suzuki has unveiled an all-new GSX-R1000 at EICMA in Milan and has revealed details of how the new machine has been developed in tandem with it’s MotoGP programme, with the aim of reinstalling the Japanese manufacturer at the top of the sportsbike pile in 2016. The wraps were also pulled off a new SV650 and VanVan 200, which will join Suzuki’s range in 2016.
GSX-R1000 Concept
30 years of experience and knowhow has gone into developing the new GSX-R1000, which is the fastest and lightest GSX-R yet, boasting exciting new racing technology for the 1000cc sportsbike sector.
The engine’s design makes it the most powerful GSX-R ever built, increasing top-end output without sacrificing low-end and midrange power. Suzuki engineers, utilising knowledge gleaned from the MotoGP project, have implemented a new Broad Power System.
Suzuki Racing’s Variable Valve Timing is the biggest feature of the new Broad Power System, which optimises intake cam timing for both high and low speed rpm and bolsters top-end power without sacrificing power elsewhere in the rev range. There’s also a new finger follower rocker arm type valve train system, secondary injectors in the top of the airbox which operate at higher rpm, and two servo-operated butterfly valves in each exhaust header balance tube.
A new 10-level traction control system features, which can be altered while riding, so long as the throttle is closed, while a new quickshifter allows for quicker upshifts and downshifts, which can both be made without using the clutch. Upshifts can be made at full throttle, while on downshifts the system automatically opens throttle valves just enough to increase rpm and match engine speed to the lower gear ratio.
Launch control makes it easier for riders to get a faster start by automatically limiting engine rpm and optimising torque delivery while the rider holds the throttle wide open, and Suzuki’s Drive Mode Selector allows the selection of three different engine maps.
Suspension is provided by Showa, with the latest balance free front forks and balance free rear suspension. The new forks were developed by Showa through racing, and have now been adapted for use on production models. The balance free front forks provide more consistent damping and increased corning performance by delivering smoother, more controlled travel.
The new rear suspension unit minimises pressure balance fluctuations thanks to its unique hydraulic circuit, which optimises oil flow. As a result improved damping force responsiveness is achieved, which in turn offers superior traction and absorption capability.
New bodywork is aggressive but purposeful, designed to put performance first and is sleeker, narrower, and more aerodynamic, while headlight, taillight and indicators are all full LED.
The new GSX-R is expected to arrive in the second half of 2016.
SV650
For 2016 the SV650 returns to its sporty V-twin roots as a nimble, agile naked street bike. Suzuki’s 645cc V-twin engine, one of the most popular engines of recent times, gets comprehensively updated with more than 60 new and redesigned components. Peak power is increased to 75bhp at 8,500rpm, max torque is 64Nm at 8,100rpm, and fuel economy increases to 73.5mpg*.
Since its introduction in 1999 the SV650 has found favour amongst riders of all ages and abilities, and for all sorts of uses. As happy commuting as it is winding between the hedges, it also almost exclusively forms the basis for one of the most popular club racing championships in the country, the BMCRC Minitwin championship.
The new SV650 also features the first use of Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist. When the bike is being launched or when running at low rpm, sensors activate an Idle Speed Control system, which raises engine rpm slightly for a smoother launch and easier operation in the lower rev range.
There’s also a new exhaust system, radiator, and full LCD instrument panel, while the easy-start system first seen on the GSX-S1000 also features.
With a focus on the bike’s agility and manageability, engineers worked to bring the weight down to under 200kg. The new SV650 is eight kilograms lighter than the outgoing SFV650, with more than 70 new chassis components. Styling is sharper and sportier.
The new SV650 is expected to arrive in dealerships from March 2016.
VanVan200
Also unveiled at EICMA by Suzuki was a bigger version of the firm’s popular VanVan 125. Easily distinguishable by it’s 180/80 balloon rear tyre, the VanVan, too, has attracted a cult following outside of its appeal to new riders.
The introduction of a new 200cc variant only serves to broaden that appeal, and will attract A2 licence holders looking for more performance over the learner-friendly 125 model.
It is expected in dealerships from February 2016.

Suzuki Motor Corporation has today unveiled a 30th Anniversary production GSX-R1000 at Sachsenring in Germany that will be available soon from Suzuki dealerships globally. It is finished in the same striking limited-edition paint scheme that will be debuted on-track by Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Viñales at this weekend’s MotoGP™ World Championship race.
Sporting the legendary blue and white livery pioneered by Kevin Schwantz in the 1980s, both Spaniards have matching leathers in celebration of the GSX-R range and its racing heritage.
Since its launch in 1985 as a ground-breaking 750cc Superbike, the GSX-R range of production motorcycles has regularly set new standards with cutting-edge design and class-leading innovation and performance; winning a huge following of more-than a million GSX-R customers worldwide.
The GSX-R has also dominated on the racetrack with a long history of success in world and domestic championships globally with new technology being directly employed in its production machines. In 2005, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 dominated the FIM World Superbike Championship with Australian Troy Corser recording eight race wins and a total of 18 podium appearances on his way to becoming World Champion.
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) and the Suzuki GSX-R is the most successful team in the FIM Endurance World Championship with a total of 14 victories between 1983 and 2014; 13 of which were won with GSX-Rs (the other one in 1983 with a Suzuki GS1000).
Suzuki is also the most successful manufacturer in AMA Superbikes with Matt Mladin, Wes Cooley, Jamie James and Ben Spies collecting a total of 13 national titles aboard their Yoshimura-tuned GSX-Rs.
Also a young up-and-coming Texan by the name of Kevin Schwantz – who had previously been making a name for himself aboard the Suzuki GS750, switched to the GSX-R, winning many races and, although he just missed-out on the battle for the 1987 AMA Superbike crown, the GSX-R racing pedigree was born as a class-leading machine both on-track and on-the-road as a must-have and revered motorcycle.
The Suzuki GSX-R has also dominated domestic championships globally with nine Australian Superbike Championship titles between 1987 and 2013 in the hands of Tony Armstrong (1987), Peter Goddard (1996), Shawn Giles (2000, 2001, 2002), Craig Coxhell (2003), Josh Waters (2009, 2012) and Wayne Maxwell (2013). The GSX-R has also racked-up numerous race wins in British Superbikes and victory for Crescent Q8 Rizla Suzuki rider John Reynolds in 2004, along with multi-championship titles in the ultra-competitive All Japan Superbike Championship in the TTF1, S-NK, Superbike and JSB1000 classes with Satoshi Tsjujimoto, Yukiya Ohshima, Doug Polen, Manabu Kamada, Keiichi Kitagawa, Akira Ryo and Atsushi Watabe.
The evolution of the GSX-R lies with its predecessor, the GS, which started many riders and teams on the path to victory.
The Suzuki GS series was Suzuki Motor Corporation’s first full range of 4-stroke road bikes, launched in 1976 in 750cc guise; which then expanded to include smaller GS550, GS1000, GS125 and GS1200SS models over the years. However, it was the 750 and 1000cc models that drove development on the race track and led-to the development of a new breed of motorcycle; the GSX-R.
The GS had a great handling chassis and a reliable engine that made Suzuki’s four-cylinder GS machines ideal for road racing with the GS1000; and tuned by the legendary ‘Pops’ Yoshimura winning the 1978 Daytona Superbike race, the 1978 Suzuka 8-Hours in Japan and the AMA Superbike national championship in 1979 and 1980 with Wes Cooley, it set new standards. In Europe, Graeme Crosby won the Formula TT World Championship in 1980 and 1981 with his Yoshimura-powered GS1000 Suzuki. Similar success came with the GS for Schwantz and also SERT; both scoring major success with the 750 and 1000cc machines.
SERT, in its third year in the World Endurance Championship racing the GS-model Suzuki, clinched its first world title in 1983 with Richard Hubin and Herve Moineau in the saddle aboard the GS1000. Then in 1985, in America, Schwantz gave the GS its final race victories before moving to the GSX-R and then onwards to compete in the World 500cc Championship where he became World 500cc GP Champion in 1993 for Suzuki.
Today, as well as celebrating 30 years of the GSX-R, Suzuki Motor Corporation is proud to be once again part of the MotoGP™ paddock with a new team of exciting young riders and a brand-new machine in the GSX-RR. Suzuki’s philosophy from development on the racetrack has, for 30+ years, led to improvements and developments in Suzuki’s road-going production machinery that will include the next generation GSX-R and other models from Suzuki in the future.
Kevin Schwantz:
“I first rode the GSXR in 1985 at the Suzuka 8-Hour with Graeme Crosby. We didn’t get the Suzuki GSX-Rs in the United States until ‘86 but raced them in American Superbikes in ‘86 and ‘87. I won the Daytona 200 on a Suzuki GSX-R in 1988 and continued to race the 8-Hour all the way through to the 1992 season.
“I’ve been involved with Suzuki and raced Suzukis my entire career and to have seen the GSX-R evolve. I like to think that some of the Grand Prix racing I did helped with some development of the GSX-R; maybe some of the technology they learned from GP racing is stuff that has evolved and gone into the production GSX-R motorcycles. Whether it’s a 600, 750, 1000, or all the other different sizes that they have made, they’re all just as much fun to ride.
“The GSX-R was ground-breaking technology, the latest, greatest thing when it came out and it has continued to be an awesome sports bike, a great handling motorcycle and it is still very, very competitive in the Suzuka 8-Hour. With over a million GSX-Rs made it is true to say that there are millions and millions of people who have bought them, ridden them and love them.
“The Suzuki GSX-R to me is the definition of a sport bike. When the GSX-R came out it completely changed the definition of a sports bike and it has continued to improve ever since.”
Suzuki has announced details of two new summer offers on both the GSR750 and V-Strom 650 models, which will run until September 30.
The capable middleweight adventure machine now comes with a free Garmin Zumo 590, while the GSR750 now boasts the same stunning Yoshimura R11 exhaust that comes as standard across the GSX-R range for 2015.
Both add even greater value to two already popular machines from Suzuki’s on-road range. The Garmin Zumo 590, which retails for £499.99, makes finding an adventure on the V-Strom even easier, while the Yoshimura R11 exhaust adds that factory race team look to the award-winning GSR750 naked, powered by the motor from the iconic GSX-R750.
Both models are also currently available on Suzuki’s 0% APR Representative finance offer over 48 months. For more information visit www.suzuki-gb.co.uk.
The offers apply to orders placed between 6 July and 30 September 2015, with the items shipped to the selling dealership after first registration. The offers are non-exchangeable and no cash alternative will be offered. The offer includes the Yoshimura R11 fitting costs. Garmin Zumo 590 fitting costs not included.
In October 1984, Suzuki showed-up at the IFMA Show in Köln, Germany with a brand-new ground-breaking GSX-R750, setting a new industry-standard for the future of race-driven Superbikes that started a legacy for the Japanese company.
The 1985 production GSX-R750 was the first real race-replica machine sold to the public, taking its heritage from the race track and over the years being updated and developed into possibly the world’s best-loved range of motorcycles.
Suzuki will celebrate 30 years of the GSX-R with a special promotion at the Sachsenring MotoGP™ race in Germany next weekend, along with launching a new limited-edition production machine that will be available globally. Suzuki Motor Corporation is grateful to all its many loyal GSX-R series customers worldwide, as without them, this 30th Anniversary celebration would not have been possible.
With Suzuki’s move back into the top-level of road racing competition, the 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship, the two new Suzuki GSX-RRs ridden by Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Viñales – as well as all the team’s clothing – will reflect the iconic GSX-R750 colours, with a special livery that will be unveiled on Thursday July 9th at the Sachsenring circuit.
Suzuki’s GS1000S is the latest model to be added to the firm’s popular Vintage Parts programme, with nearly 1,000 parts still available for the iconic machine.
The GS1000 reached cult status in the hotly contested, high capacity, four-stroke arena, with Suzuki’s previous motorcycle production dominated by two-strokes. The GS series set the foundations for not only subsequent production bikes, but also four-stroke racing success too.
1978 saw the first introduction of the GS1000, which won the Daytona superbike race and the prestigious Suzuka 8-hour the same year, before going on to dominate the Daytona race for the next three years. The S variant came to market in 1979 and went on to claim championship wins in the AMA series as well carrying Graeme Crosby to wins at the Isle of Man TT and the Suzuka 8-hour event again in 1980.
Suzuki GB’s Tim Davies said, “The GS1000 is renowned for its classic status and is still desirable today, and we’re delighted to be able to add it to our Vintage Parts programme, with so many parts still available. As a result it makes maintaining or restoring one of these iconic machines even easier, with owners manuals and other parts booklets available to download for free from the Vintage Parts website too.”
The GS1000 joins the RGV250 VJ21, GT750J-M, GSX-R750F-H, GT250EX and AP50 on the Vintage Parts programme.
Suzuki’s test ride roadshow returns for 2015 with events taking place across the manufacturer’s dealer network this summer.
A mainstay of the Suzuki events calendar in recent years, the roadshow kicks off on July 4 and sees a whole fleet of demo machines tour the country, with test rides available on a number of models in the brand’s on-road range, including the new GSX-S1000 super-naked.
Also available to test ride at each event will be the GSX-S1000F, GSX-R1000 and both the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 1000 machines. The iconic Hayabusa will be available to try, along with the GSX-R750, Intruder M1800RBZ, the Bandit 1250S, and the Burgman 650 Executive.
Suzuki GB Marketing Manager Rob Cooper said,“Our test ride roadshows have proven really popular with both dealers and customers alike in recent years. They give us a real opportunity to get out into dealerships and spend some time talking to customers, listening to their thoughts and feedback. It also gives people the chance to take a test ride on a number of bikes in the range and bikes that their dealership may not always have available as a demo machine. These events, coupled with events like our Biker Café days and Silverstone track day in August, make for an action-packed summer and we’re looking forward to getting the roadshow underway.”
With both north and south demo fleets touring the country, the first events in this year’s roadshow calendar take place at Motoden in London and Saltire Suzuki in Edinburgh on Saturday 4 July, and continue every weekend until the end of September.
Bike availability may differ at each event so please contact your local dealer for more information. GSX-S1000FA is not available on the roadshow until mid-July 2015. Demonstration rides require an agreed booking and are solely at the discretion of the dealer. With the paper counterpart for UK driving licences now redundant, those willing to take a test ride at any of the events must show both a photo card driving licence and their national insurance number so licence checks can be carried out. You may be asked for a deposit and further dealer terms and conditions may also apply. Please confirm your request with the dealer before travelling.
The hotly-anticipated GSX-S1000 is now available in Suzuki dealerships with an RRP of £8,999, following its launch to the world’s motorcycling press in Spain earlier this year.
Boasting an all-new lightweight frame, three-mode traction control system and a GSX-R1000 K5-based engine, famed for its torque and mid-range grunt, the new GSX-S1000 is available in the stunning MotoGP Suzuki blue, as well as a dark red and black variant and matt grey edition too.
The new super-naked also comes with new six-spoke wheels and an easy to read, full LCD dash, while the K5-based engine is mated to a new exhaust system for an exciting riding experience.
Suzuki GB Marketing Manager Rob Cooper said, “The bike was launched to widespread praise earlier this year and has since done the rounds at our UK dealer network as part of our test ride roadshow, giving people the chance to take an advanced test ride. We’re delighted to now be able to announce the bike’s arrival in the UK, and urge those who didn’t manage to take a test ride during the roadshow to visit to their nearest dealer.”
The GSX-S1000 is available now and has an RRP of £8,999.

Suzuki’s all-star track day returns to Silverstone for a third consecutive year in 2015, with a host of British and World Superbike stars again joining in with the action.
After becoming a mainstay of the Suzuki event calendar in recent years, the 2015 event will take place on 12 August on Silverstone’s International circuit, operating from the famous Wing pit and paddock complex.
Bennetts Suzuki’s Christian Iddon and Josh Waters will take a break from British Superbike duty to attend, as well as Voltcom Crescent Suzuki’s Alex Lowes and Randy de Puniet. Three-time British Superbike champion John Reynolds and 500cc Grand Prix race-winner and Motovudu founder Simon Crafar will also be in attendance.
All riders will be on hand to lend their expertise and provide on-track instruction throughout the day, as well as sign autographs. There’s also the chance to experience the Bennetts Suzuki team’s pit setup and a free goody bag for all who attend.
Suzuki GB Marketing Manager Rob Cooper said, “Silverstone is an iconic motorsport venue and we can’t wait to host our next all-star track day there. It will be the third year in a row that we have joined forces with the team at Silverstone, and this event promises to be another fantastic day. We like getting out on track and riding bikes as much as our customers, so it’s an excellent opportunity to get some miles in and a great chance for everyone to get some instruction from the guys that do this for a living. We get asked every year when the next track day is going to be, so this year’s event should be just as popular as ever.”
Silverstone’s Donna Ibbott added, “We are delighted to be hosting the all-star Suzuki track day for the third year in a row and to work alongside the Suzuki team to make it a memorable event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with the BSB, WSBK and racing legends on the day.”
As well as the on track action, Suzuki’s newest clothing and merchandise range will be on display, which includes the latest Bennetts Suzuki and Voltcom Crescent Suzuki team wear. The classic bike display also returns for another year.
Riders on the day will be split into three groups, with spaces available from £149.

Suzuki has announced the first opportunity for customers to test ride the new GSX-S1000, with bikes available to demo in dealerships from 18 April as part of a nationwide test ride roadshow.
With Suzuki dealerships taking part across the country, customers can take advanced test rides on the new street bike from the Japanese manufacturer, which boasts an all-new lightweight frame, GSX-R1000 K5-derived engine, Brembo monobloc calipers and three-mode traction control. ABS is also available as an option.
With the GSX-S1000 currently being launched to the world’s motorcycling press in the south of Spain, the test ride bikes are being specially airfreighted in from Japan immediately after, meaning customers in the UK will be among the first in the world to test ride the new model.
A fleet of eight bikes will be making their way around the country, starting at Preston Superbikes, Bill Smith Motors in Gwynedd, HBC Motorcycles, Mission Motorcycles, Alpha Motorcycles, Haslemere Motorcycles, Anton Parris, and GS Motorcycles in Ballymena, on 18 April.
Rob Cooper, Suzuki GB Marketing Manager, announced the roadshow saying, “This is a great opportunity for riders interested in the new GSX-S1000 to get along to their nearest dealership and take one for a ride. Advanced test rides proved popular for the V-Strom 1000 and given the demand we have received for GSX-S1000, we are really pleased to be able to offer them on this model too.”
Suzuki has also recently announced pricing for both the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F. The GSX-S1000 is available from £8,999 with the ABS model available for £9,499. The GSX-S1000FA comes with an RRP of £9,999.
