Suzuki reduces RM-Z450 price by £750

Suzuki is helping buyers of its RM-Z450 prepare for the 2020 motocross season by reducing the price of its MX1 machine by £750 until the end of the year. It means the championship-winning bike now comes with an RRP of £6,249.

The RM-Z450 – which won the British Motocross Championship in 2018 – benefitted from an all-new chassis last season; a new frame and swingarm reduced weight and improved cornering performance, thanks also to new suspension from Showa.

A heavily-revised engine boosted peak power and gave it more midrange, while electronics come in the form of the latest generation holeshot assist and Suzuki’s advanced traction management system.

Suzuki sets new standard rate of finance

Suzuki has set a new 5.9% APR Representative standard rate of finance on all models 401cc and above, reducing it from the previous 7.9% APR Representative.

The rate applies for customers buying on PCP or HP, and is available from just £1 deposit,

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, commented, We are constantly evaluating our own and the wider industry’s terms and standards, and strive to offer customers excellent value products and services. This new low rate of finance is often better than customers can find elsewhere in the market and means owning a new Suzuki is even more affordable.”

With a £2500 deposit or trade-in, the new rate means the KATANA is available for £120 per month on a three-year PCP deal, while the ever-popular SV650 can be enjoyed for as little as £104 per month with a deposit of just £500.

Suzuki to restore more Sheene bikes at Motorcycle Live

Three more of Barry Sheene’s race bikes have arrived at Suzuki GB from the family home in Australia, and two of them will be restored at this year’s Motorcycle Live, which takes place at Birmingham’s NEC from 16-24 November.

Watch the arrival and uncrating of the three bikes

Sheene’s last Grand Prix bike – a DAF Trucks-sponsored 1984 Harris-framed XR45 RG500 – arrived alongside a 1978 XR27 RG500 and a special XR23A 652cc big bore RG500, raced in the Trans Atlantic series and F1 Championship in 1979.

In conjunction with Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme, both the XR45 and XR23A will be refurbished and fired into life once again at Motorcycle Live, while the XR27 will be displayed alongside Sheene’s 1976 and 1977 world championship-winning XR14s, both of which were also restored thanks to the Vintage Parts Programme in 2017.

Suzuki GB aftersales marketing coordinator, Tim Davies, said, “This is another special moment for us. These bikes haven’t been back in the UK since Barry and his family emigrated to Australia, so it’s quite something to get them out of the crates and see them here again. But it’s going to be even more of a special occasion when they live again, thanks to the restoration process which will be carried out by former ‘70s and ‘80s Grand Prix technician Nigel Everett and former mechanic for Barry Sheene, Martyn Ogborne. And it’s a great opportunity for fans to again see, hear, and smell them as they would have existed at the time. We can’t wait.”

Launched in 2013, Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme exists to help owners of older Suzukis keep their machines maintained or help with restoration projects, with a host of parts available from cylinders, pistons, and conrods, to a range of bearings and seals, and everything in between.

MotoGP race-winner Alex Rins heads star-studded lineup of instructors at Silverstone for Suzuki taster zone

Away from the racing at Silverstone for last weekend’s British Grand Prix – which saw Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Alex Rins claim victory – Suzuki was lending a helping hand to new riders and those looking to get onto two wheels for the first time with a star-studded lineup of instructors passing on some of their own hints and tips.

Race-winner Rins and teammate Sylvain Guintoli made time after qualifying to visit Suzuki’s taster zone, which gave visitors to the British Grand Prix that don’t yet hold a licence the chance to learn the ropes and gain their first experience of riding a motorcycle. On race day British Superbike race-winner Bradley Ray, National Superstock 1000 series leader Richard Cooper, and three-time British Superbike champion John Reynolds joined in to share their expertise.

Suzuki’s taster zone gave 149 people their first experience of riding a motorcycle over the three days at Silverstone, using a combination of GSX-S125 and GSX-R125 machinery.

Wayne Orton, who enjoyed expert tuition from Rins, said afterwards, “I’m typically a four-wheel person and have raced cars, but my partner Jayne is a bike person and as a result I’ve always had a look at bikes and thought about learning to ride. We go to British Superbikes and follow Grand Prix but Silverstone was our first visit and we saw Suzuki was offering their taster sessions and it was the perfect opportunity to take the next step. But I didn’t expect to be being taught to ride by Alex Rins! The whole thing was great and we were in awe for about an hour afterwards. I couldn’t believe he was just having a chat with me like a normal person and giving me lots of tips. It was a pretty surreal experience for your first ever go at riding a motorcycle but I loved it.”

BSB star Bradley Ray added, I really enjoyed it, to be honest. It was nice to see people going from having absolutely no concept or experience, and really being quite nervous, to learning to pull away and ride around by themselves and leaving with a big grin. It was really rewarding and I hope I was able to help, and hopefully they’ll go on to get their full licence.”

Suzuki’s GSX-R125 is currently available on 0% finance with a £250 deposit contribution, while the GSX-S125 is available on Suzuki’s 2, 3, 4 offer, which allows buyers to choose the length of their agreement with an APR to match.

Suzuki celebrates MotoGP victory with 0% offer across entire GSX-R range

Following Team Suzuki Ecstar and Alex Rins’ British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone, Suzuki GB has launched a celebratory offer that sees its entire GSX-R range available on 0% finance until the end of September.

The offer includes the range-topping GSX-R1000R and the GSX-R1000 – both of which use technology lifted directly from Suzuki’s GSX-RR racer including a clever mechanical variable valve timing system that boosts both low down torque, midrange shove and top-end power.

Also included in the 0% offer is the entry-level GSX-R125 which shares the same DNA as its larger sibling, with a free-revving DOHC single cylinder engine housed in a lightweight chassis for swift acceleration and agile handling.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, announced the offer, saying, “Racing is something we’ve always been passionate about at Suzuki, and we understand it’s a passion for many customers too. When we win it’s something we want to share with current owners, and we also want to give people a chance to be a part of that success story in the future by being part of the Suzuki family. With MotoGP technology from the GSX-RR genuinely feeding down to the GSX-R series, taking advantage of this offer is a great opportunity to share in this victory and future race wins.”

Alex Rins won the weekend’s British Grand Prix in emphatic fashion, stalking the race leader for the duration before snatching victory on the last corner for Team Suzuki Ecstar. He currently sits third in the world championship standings.

Suzuki’s GSX-R1000R also leads the British Superstock 1000 Championship, with Richard Cooper winning last time out at Cadwell Park.

Learn to ride with the stars at Silverstone MotoGP

Suzuki will be giving MotoGP fans that don’t yet hold a motorcycle licence the chance to take taster sessions and gain invaluable expert instruction at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend, with its British Superbike team riders, three-time British Superbike champion John Reynolds, and even MotoGP stars sharing their wisdom with those looking to join the world on two wheels.

Utilising its GSX-S and GSX-R125 machines, Suzuki will be offering taster sessions for new riders with tuition on hand from British Superbike race-winner Bradley Ray, plus National Superstock 1000 championship leader Richard Cooper and Suzuki legend John Reynolds. And despite being busy with the on-track action, MotoGP stars Alex Rins and Joan Mir will also stop by and share their wisdom, too.

Those that undertake a taster session will also qualify for £250 towards their deposit when going on to purchase a new GSX-S125 before the end of September 2019. The offer is available to both cash buyers and finance customers, and also runs in conjunction with Suzuki’s 2,3,4 finance offer, which allows customers to choose either a PCP or HP deal, and the term of their agreement with an APR to match. Suzuki’s GSX-R125 is also available with a £250 deposit contribution and 0% APR finance.

Suzuki GB’s Jonathan Martin said, “There aren’t many people better qualified to help new riders learn the ropes than those that ride and race motorcycles for a living, and it’ll be a great experience for those that are learning to ride to receive tuition from their racing heroes. We’re committed to making it easier and more attractive for new riders to join the motorcycling fraternity, which is why we’re offering these taster sessions for another year, and are also offering an additional incentive for those that go on to purchase, so they can get on the road as quickly as possible. Hopefully we’ll see them all riding to next year’s Grand Prix.”

Suzuki’s taster zone will be situated next to the main display stand, where the MotoGP-inspired GSX-R1000R will be displayed alongside the rest of Suzuki’s 2019 model range, including the entry-level GSX-R125, the new KATANA, the V-Strom adventure stable and GSX-S street bike range. Richard Cooper’s National Superstock 1000 Championship-leading and multiple race-winning GSX-R1000R will also be on display.

Suzuki offers summer test ride incentive with £500 off

Suzuki has launched a new summer incentive, rewarding anyone that takes a test ride on selected models with £500 off the RRP when they go on to purchase. The offer runs in conjunction with all current campaigns, and across most of Suzuki’s on-road range.

The offer runs alongside the current 0% finance offer on the GSX-R1000R, and Suzuki’s 2,3,4 campaign, which allows customers to choose from either a PCP or HP deal, and then select the length of their agreement with an APR to match. Suzuki remembers Mitsuo Ito

Mitsuo Ito, the first and only Japanese rider to win at the Isle of Man TT, has passed away at the age of 82.

Born on 1 January, 1937, Ito san was a lifelong Suzuki employee and made his Grand Prix debut in 1961. Two years later he won the Ultra-Lightweight TT on his Suzuki RK67, and he remains the only Japanese rider to win around the famous 37.73-mile course. In 2008 he returned to the Isle of Man with Suzuki GB to celebrate his achievements.

Ito’s TT win also helped establish Suzuki as a global brand, taking the Japanese firm from domestic manufacturer to worldwide motorcycling powerhouse. It also paved the way for a golden era of Suzuki successes in Grand Prix racing.

During his own racing career he finished fifth in the 50cc world championship four times in consecutive years, between 1962 and 1965. His final win, fittingly, came at the Japanese Grand Prix in 1967.

Following his retirement from competition he continued to work on Suzuki’s racing activities – including a brief foray in car racing – working with both the machines and personnel, including the 1993 world champion Kevin Schwantz.

After his experiences at the Isle of Man TT, he also helped design Suzuki’s famous Ryuyo test track, where all new Suzuki machines are still tested and developed today.
He was inducted into the Motorcycle Federation of Japan (MFJ) Motorcycle Sport Hall of Fame last December for his achievement at the 1963 Isle of Man TT.

Suzuki GB director, Paul de Lusignan commented, “It was an absolute pleasure to know and spend time with Ito san. He had time for everybody, and made an effort to get to know and speak with dealers and staff alike during his visits to Suzuki GB and on our trip to the Isle of Man together in 2008. He was also very warm and welcoming when I had the pleasure of visiting his home in Japan. He was very highly thought of by everyone at Suzuki, and also members of the media throughout the years who had the good fortune to meet and work with him. All of our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.”
Mitsuo Ito’s funeral will take place on Saturday in Hamamatsu, Japan.

Suzuki extends 0% finance offer on GSX-R range

Suzuki has extended its 0% finance offer on the award-winning and race-proven GSX-R1000R plus the entry-level GSX-R125, with the deal now available until the end of September 2019. There’s also a new £250 Suzuki deposit contribution on the GSX-R125.
Available with a minimum deposit of £1,000 on the range-topping GSX-R1000R, customers can ensure they’re choosing a deal that best suits their personal circumstances, and opt for either a Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or Hire Purchase (HP) agreement.
The extension means the race-winning machine is available for just £149 per month on a PCP deal over 37 months, with a deposit or trade-in of £2,915. On HP it can be ridden away for £381.39 per month over the same period, with no final balloon payment.
Suzuki’s 0% offer also extends to the learner-friendly GSX-R125, which is available with a minimum deposit of £750 on HP, £250 of which comes as a Suzuki deposit contribution, meaning buyers need only find £500. As a result, the sporty 125 can be enjoyed for just £100.67 per month over three years.
The GSX-R1000R uses a host of MotoGP-derived technology, from a clever variable valve timing system that allows it to produce both impressive low-down torque and top-end power, to a comprehensive suite of performance-boosting electronics that includes an IMU-governed, 10-mode traction control system, launch control, quickshifter and auto-blipper, and cornering ABS.
The GSX-R125 set new benchmarks when it was launched in 2017, coming into the 125 sports bike market with the best power-to-weight ratio. It boasts an LCD dash, LED lighting, keyless ignition, and Suzuki’s easy-start system.

Suzuki is set to attend this year’s MK Bike Show, with the new KATANA taking centre-stage at stadium MK on June 23, while taster sessions on its learner-friendly GSX-S125 will be available for those looking to take their first steps into motorcycling.

The Japanese manufacturer – with its UK headquarters based in Milton Keynes and its sponsorship of the MK Dons football club – will showcase the hotly-anticipated new KATANA, which arrived in dealerships last month and pays homage to the original 1981 machine with instantly recognisable, Samurai sword-inspired styling, alongside its existing product range.

The new KATANA will be flanked by the race-winning GSX-R1000R – currently available on 0% finance – and entry-level GSX-R125, plus the GSX-S1000F, GSX-S1000, and GSX-S750, GSX-S125, and SV650 street machines. Many of the bikes on display will also be available to test ride on the day – providing visitors can produce a valid licence, National Insurance number, and riding kit – while experienced instructors will be on-hand for new riders enjoying taster sessions on the GSX-S125.

The MK Bike Show is free-to-enter, and takes place at stadium MK on June 23.

New Suzuki KATANA launched with low-rate finance for limited time only

Suzuki’s much-awaited new KATANA has landed in showrooms and has been launched with not only a stylish Samurai accessory pack but also a special low-rate finance offer of 4.9% APR representative for a limited time only, until June 30.

Available on both Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) and Hire Purchase (HP) with a minimum deposit of £500, it means early KATANA customers can benefit from lower monthly repayments and added flexibility.

Over 37 months, with the minimum deposit, the new KATANA can be ridden away for £176.20 per month on a PCP agreement. With a £3,083.67 deposit or trade-in, it can be purchased for just £99 per month.

With the HP option over the same period and with no final payment, a £500 deposit means customers can own a new KATANA for £330 per month, or £249 per month with a deposit or trade-in of £3,211.

Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, announced this limited offer, saying, “We’re delighted to be able to offer this low-rate finance for the first customers of the new KATANA. The bike has generated plenty of interest since its unveiling and launch, and this is our way of rewarding those customers who place some of the first orders with their dealerships and secure one of the first bikes in the country. The lower rate of finance means lower monthly repayments, and by offering it on both PCP or HP, it means customers can tailor a finance package to suit their individual needs.”

The Samurai accessory pack enhances the impressive styling of the KATANA even further, and is available at launch for a short time period for just £999. Suzuki Genuine accessories purchased and fitted at the time of buying any new Suzuki motorcycle can also be added to the finance agreement and, will also be covered by Suzuki’s three-year warranty.

If that’s not enough, all new Suzukis including the new KATANA, come with complimentary 1 year AA roadside assistance, Datatag MASTER security and three-year warranty as standard.

The new KATANA is the evolution of an icon, with the original legendary machine still widely regarded today almost four decades on. The 2019 version takes styling influences from the 1981 model, including the instantly recognisable face and sword-cut lines, but is a thoroughly modern interpretation. The new KATANA boasts a three-stage traction control system to tame its torquey, 150hp GSX-R1000-derived inline-four cylinder engine, itself wrapped in a lightweight twin-spar aluminium frame.

The first 200 customers to purchase a new KATANA will also receive a special edition commemorative book, which details the history of the iconic machine with previously unseen images and content from those involved with KATANA over the years, and the mighty Samurai sword with which it shares its name.

Join the nationwide Suzuki dealership launch to celebrate the arrival of the new KATANA

Suzuki GB and its dealer network are poised to celebrate the arrival of the new KATANA in showrooms up and down the country, with a nationwide launch of this evolution of an icon on Thursday 30 May.

The events, being held in Suzuki motorcycle showrooms across the country, will afford motorcyclists the chance to get up close and personal with the new machine and purchase one of the first KATANAs to arrive in the country. There will also be exclusive special offers announced on the night for those that place orders, while dealer demonstrators will be available for test rides from 31 May.

The evolution of the legendary 1980s icon sees the 2019 KATANA take styling cues from the original, including sharp, KATANA Samurai sword-inspired lines, rectangular headlight and bold, red Suzuki lettering on the tank. However, the new model is a modern interpretation of the original 1981 KATANA and boasts modern underpinnings with a twin-spar aluminium frame, three-mode traction control system, one-push easy start and 150hp inline-four cylinder engine packed with an abundance of useable power and character.

Suzuki GB Head of Marketing, Fiona Cole, said ahead of the nationwide event, “The new KATANA has been hotly anticipated since it’s global unveil at the Intermot show in Germany last October, and then first shown in the UK during the Motorcycle Live show in November. Feedback from the first test rides from our dealers and the UK media launch in the last few weeks has been incredibly positive, and we’re looking forward to motorcyclists now having the chance to visit their local dealership and see the new KATANA for themselves, learn more about the machine and launch offers available as well as finally be able to place orders to ensure they receive one of the first saleable machines in the country. There is a history and aura around KATANA that other motorcycles can’t replicate and the buzz and excitement it has generated so far should see busy showrooms on 30 May.”

The first 200 customers to buy a new KATANA will also be gifted an exclusive and limited edition commemorative KATANA book, charting the bike and the legendary sword’s histories, the similarities in dedication to craftsmanship and design philosophies.

Suzuki GB’s Tim Davies, announced this year’s event, saying, “We were blown away by the response and feedback after last year’s event, so we were always planning on bringing it back for this 2019. We’re honestly just a team of enthusiasts ourselves and enjoyed seeing the various bikes on track and around the paddock as much as anyone else. And not only were the track sessions fully-booked, there were even numbers of spectators turning up on the day and lining the track side and wandering the paddock. It was a really special day, and we’re delighted that we’ll again have a number of special guests and famous faces in attendance, all with a rich Suzuki history and plenty of stories to tell.
