Kawasaki UK is excited to return to the Birmingham NEC for Motorcycle Live 2017, where it will have a wide range of road and off-road bikes on display, including new 2018 models being shown in the UK for the first time.

Based around the concept of the ultimate Kawasaki showroom, visitors can find the unmissable Kawasaki stand in hall 3. As with Kawasaki’s new 2018 models, the Kawasaki stand draws from the past and looks to the future with a retro-themed area dedicated to the new Z900RS retro sport range, plus an area that reflects the cutting edge technology employed by Kawasaki in its latest models such as the new supercharged Ninja H2 SX sports tourer and new Ninja ZX-10R SE with advanced electronic semi-active suspension.

Elsewhere, visitors will be able to get up close and personal with the new Ninja 400 and the new 70kW Z900. The incredible and ever-popular supercharged Ninja H2 and H2R will both be present on the stand to wow crowds.

Opposite the main stand, show goers can find the race stand, which celebrates Kawasaki’s racing activities and success. Here visitors will be able to see a wide range of race and championship winning bikes including Jonathan Rea’s WorldSBK winning ZX-10RR, Leon Haslam’s JG Speedfit ZX-10RR, Dean Harrison’s classic TT-winning ZXR750 and Danny Buchan’s National Superstock 1000 Championship winning Morello Racing Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR.

During both weekends visitors to the race stand will have the chance to watch live rider interview sessions with Kawasaki racers including Leon Haslam, Tom Sykes, Danny Buchan as well as Luke Mossey, James Hillier and 2017 World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea, among others. Interview times and stand activity will be published on the Kawasaki News UK Facebook page, and @Kawasaki_News on Twitter.

Using the #Kawacamera hashtag, Kawasaki is aiming to make every person’s visit memorable. Visitors are encouraged to photograph themselves on the Kawasaki stand and upload to Instagram and Twitter. Images tagged with #Kawacamera will be printed throughout the show for visitors to take home from the wall near the Club Kawasaki area. Anyone taking a photo that Kawasaki staff really like could win a free Kawasaki watch.

Anyone interested in learning to ride will be well catered for by Kawasaki Rider Training Services (KRTS), which is running a special show offer: everyone signing up for a reduced price Kawasaki Two Wheeled Experience will be entered into a draw to win all the training needed to get their motorcycle licence.

Honda CB1000R and Africa Twin Adventure Sports Set For UK Debut at Motorcycle Live

Honda has confirmed that its stunning, café racer-inspired new CB1000R and expedition-ready Africa Twin Adventure Sports models will be on display at Motorcycle Live – the first time the bikes will have been seen in the UK.

Arriving straight from their global unveilings at EICMA in Milan, the CB1000R and Africa Twin Adventure Sports are part of a Honda show line-up that includes five new machines, two extensively upgraded bikes and two icons, reborn as concepts for 2018.

Africa Twin Adventure Sports has a 5.4 litre larger fuel tank than the CRF1000L Africa Twin itself. Plus, longer travel suspension, higher riding position and ground clearance, heated grips, extra-large skid plate and extended fairing with protective cowl bar. It also shares the extensive updates given to the Africa Twin, which include throttle by wire engine management with four riding modes, expanded Honda Selectable Torque Control parameters, and revised intake and exhaust for stronger mid-range response.

As well as a completely new look, the CB1000R delivers a 12kg weight reduction and 120bhp power hike, compared to the outgoing model. That’s a 20% improvement in power to weight ratio. It also offers multiple riding modes with different combinations of power and engine braking, combined with Honda Selectable Torque Control and a state-of-the-art throttle by wire engine management system.

Alongside the two new litre bikes, Honda’s offering at Motorcycle Live spans the entire Honda range, from the all-new CB125R – a bike that echoes the Neo Sports Café styling of the CB1000R – through the recently announced 2018 GL1800 Gold Wing – another UK first showing.

Demonstrating Honda’s fun streak, there’ll be debut UK appearances of two new concept bikes. The Monkey 125 concept adds modern flair to an unmistakable classics and, in the year that it reached an unparalleled milestone of 100,000,000 units sold, Honda will also show a new concept take on the Super Cub 125.

In the year that Honda celebrates the 25th anniversary of its iconic Fireblade, naturally, there will be every opportunity for showgoers to be able to get up close and personal with its latest, fully-loaded, race bikes for the road, as well as to take a look at some of the iconic blades of years gone by.

Once showgoers have seen the new metal, there’ll also be chances to sample some of it. Motorcycle Live visitors will be able to take a taster session on the dirt, using the CRF1000L Africa Twin, testing out not only its appetite for off-roading but also its innovative dual clutch transmission.

Road riders will be able to sign up to test a selection of Honda’s 2018 range, which spans everything from twist and go scooters, a number of bikes that use Honda’s innovative dual clutch transmission system and, of course, the all-new Fireblade.

A range of activities will take place on the Honda stand, including the appearance of Dan Linfoot and Jason O’Halloran – Honda’s BSB stars – who will talk about how you take a stock blade and turn it into a BSB race winner. Dan Gold, tattooist to the stars, will be there to answer questions about his latest custom-built CMX500 Rebel and Austin Vince, expedition rider and film-maker extraordinaire will host a screening of his latest motorcycle music video!

On-stand activities on the opening weekend include:

SATURDAY 18 NOVEMBER

Kevin Schwantz Suzuki RGV500 to be restored at Motorcycle Live

Kevin Schwantz’s 1989 Pepsi Suzuki RGV500 is to be restored to full working order at this year’s Motorcycle Live – which takes place from 18-26 November at the NEC in Birmingham – as part of the Japanese manufacturer’s presence at the annual event.

The iconic Grand Prix machine will be completely stripped, before being carefully and meticulously restored by Team Classic Suzuki chief mechanic Nathan Colombi. The restoration will be supported by Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme.

1989 was arguably Schwantz’s best season for results, with only crashes preventing him from lifting the world title. He finished either first or second in every race he completed that season, taking six wins and a further three runner-up finishes. He would eventually lift the world title for Suzuki in 1993. The Texan was named a Grand Prix legend in 2000.

Suzuki restoration projects or builds have become a mainstay of the Motorcycle Live features list in recent years, and after the Vintage Parts Programme was launched at the 2013 event, Suzuki has gone on to build a brand new TL1000S, restore an original GSX-R750F, and build Team Classic Suzuki’s Katana endurance racer at the last three shows.

Suzuki GB aftersales marketing co-ordinator, Tim Davies, said of the project, “Kevin Schwantz is still, undoubtedly, a legend among motorcyclists in the UK; we saw that with his presence at British Grand Prix at Silverstone earlier this year. For us at Suzuki, it’s no different, either, and his 1989 RGV500 is an iconic machine that we’re looking forward to restoring. We’ve built or restored a number of bikes at Motorcycle Live in recent years but this is the first time we’ve restored a legendary racing machine like this. It’s a new challenge, and also something different for visitors to the show, while still allowing us to highlight just how many genuine Suzuki parts can be ordered through the Vintage Parts Programme.”

The restoration of Schwantz’s RGV500 won’t be the only feature on the Suzuki stand at Motorcycle Live, with the popular ‘elbow down’ feature making a return.

Suzuki’s extensive 2018 model range will be available for show-goers to explore and try for size, along with a display of race bikes that will include Michael Dunlop’s Isle of Man TT-winning GSX-R1000, while free teas and coffees will be served from on the stand for visitors who want to take a break from walking the halls. The Suzuki Shop will stock the latest lines in Suzuki merchandise and clothing.

Suzuki can be found on stand 3A20 at this year’s Motorcycle Live when doors open on November 18. For show information and tickets, visit www.motorcyclelive.co.uk.

Motorcycle Live gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase our new motorcycles and for fans to get up close and personal with the brand new line up.

“Our new bikes have been four years in the making, so it’s with great excitement that we’re finally able to reveal them to the public. Already, we’ve had strong interest in the new Bonneville range, with plenty of priority reservations taken over the past few weeks. With our new Explorer and Speed Triple now joining these classics, we’re looking forward to helping riders find their dream bike.

“With this in mind, we’re offering visitors to Motorcycle Live the chance to secure early production for our new bikes, with our factory priority order form. Riders can pick one of these up from a member of the Triumph team and ensure they’re one of the first to pick up a new bike when they go on sale.

Triumph Motorcycles are displaying their complete range of bikes, accessories and clothing at Motorcycle Live in hall 3a, stand 3E20.

KTM Streets Ahead for 2016

KTM STREETS AHEAD FOR 2016

New 1290 Super Duke GT, 690 Dukes and 1290 Super Duke R Special Edition lead host of updated models

At the EICMA Show in Milan on Tuesday November 17, KTM pulled the covers off its 2016 range of Street motorcycles for the first time.

Four new models were introduced in the shape of the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT, 690 DUKE, 690 DUKE R and 1290 SUPER DUKE R Special Edition while a host of other bikes in the range have been treated to subtle revisions to keep them at the top of their respective class.

Full technical information can be obtained in the press kit available directly from Simon Belton at KTM UK. Prices will be announced at Motorcycle Live, held at the Birmingham NEC from November 28 to December 6 which will also be the first opportunity in the UK to see the entire 2016 KTM Street range. Visit www.motorcyclelive.co.uk for more information.

KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT:

With the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT, KTM forcefully extends its Street range at the upper end. The star of model year 2016 is a perfectly equipped, light- weight and agile marathon sprinter with plenty of power as well as a vast package of the latest riding assistance systems. Besides the Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) including traction control and the C-ABS – both lean angle sensitive – it includes the KTM Ride Mode technology as well as a quickshifter. KTM shores up the long distance capabilities of the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT with a comprehensive touring package: a 23 litre tank, a lengthened rear subframe with integral mounts for the optional panniers, heated grips, cruise control, comfortable seats, the wind and weather protection of an adjustable windshield, LED cornering lights and LED daytime running lights. With a more than comprehensive equipment package like that, as well as its 173 hp LC8 engine and semi-active suspension, the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT masters the whole range from comfortable long distance motorway travelling to breathtaking alpine or track day use.

KTM 690 DUKE

More than two decades after the very first DUKE, KTM launches a new generation of the perennial hit, proving in an impressive manner that the single cylinder engine is all but obsolete even in a Street bike, not least by complying with Euro 4 emission control standards. The brand new engine puts out a full 73 hp of maximum power. Despite this, it offers plenty of smoothness and refinement thanks to multiple balancers, as well as an even wider powerband than its predecessors. The modified steering geometry brings even more stability and precision to the pre-eminently agile chassis of the 690 DUKE. And there is lots of other perks as well, like the on-board computer, a large, multifunctional TFT colour display and ABS as a standard. In addition, the potent single can be adjusted with an optional Track pack which includes a Sport and Rain Ride mode, Traction Control (TC), Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) and a Supermoto mode. The 690 DUKE is more alive, more appealing and more modern than ever.

KTM 690 DUKE R

The new 690 DUKE is also available as an ‘R’ version for model year 2016, distinguished by a full 75 hp of durable maximum power. Among others, the extra horsepower is a result of the 690 DUKE R’s high quality Akrapovič silencer. In addition, there is a Brembo Monoblock braking caliper and a fully adjustable WP suspension that also allows even greater lean angles than the 690 DUKE. The 690 DUKE R comes equipped with lean angle sensitive ABS, Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), Motor Slip regulation (MSR) and the Supermoto mode. Of course the ‘R’ also benefits from everything that is new about the 690 DUKE, like the KTM Ride Mode technology, the new TFT display and the updated steering geometry. Great-looking parts like the cutting edge LED indicators and racy pillion seat cover round off the ‘R’ package. Insiders recognise the 690 DUKE R at the first glance by its wheels and frame in the typical KTM Orange.

KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R SPECIAL EDITION:
KTM proves year after year there is never a standstill in Mattighofen. That even goes for a milestone machine like the 1290 SUPER DUKE R, even though it only enters its third year in 2016. For all those who long for even less weight, even more sound and even more individuality, the new model year brings the SPECIAL EDITION. This upgrade treats The Beast to a whole host of top quality KTM PowerParts: an Akrapovič titanium silencer reduces the weight while adding extra sound. Wave brake discs offer even better feedback and expanded braking stability in extreme duty. Stiffer triple clamps optimise steering precision under ferocious braking. Levers adjustable in multiple ways and a different seat serve to optimise ergonomics specifically for track use. A unique paint design and classy accessories made of orange anodised aluminium or carbon fibre make for exclusive finishing touches.

Revised 2015 Dates For Motorcycle Live

The organisers of Motorcycle Live, the UK’s biggest motorcycle show, have announced that the 2015 event will take place one week later than originally planned, opening at its usual venue of The NEC, Birmingham on Saturday 28 November and closing on Sunday 6 December.

The decision comes following confirmation that the EICMA exhibition in Milan has moved from its usual early-November slot to later in the month, thus clashing with the planned dates for Motorcycle Live. EICMA is traditionally where the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers unveil their new model launches, many of which are then shipped to Birmingham to make their UK debut, meaning that visitors to Motorcycle Live are amongst the first in the world to see the new machinery in the metal.

“If we had maintained our traditional slot of the last two weeks of November, it would have been logistically impossible for manufacturers to ship their new models to The NEC in time for the opening day of the show,” explains Motorcycle Live organiser Finlay McAllan. “This would ultimately mean that UK motorcycle fans would miss out on the opportunity to see the new models so soon after launch. For that reason we have decided to move Motorcycle Live 2015 back one week.”

Motorcycle Live 2015 will take place at The NEC, Birmingham from 28 November to 6 December. Tickets will go on sale in August 2015
