New Knox Aegis Back Protector can take the heat
Unlike most other commercially available back protectors, the Aegis has also been tested and approved to Level 2 at the optional high (+40°C) and low (-20°C) temperatures, proving it offers the top level of protection for all types of motorcycle riding in both hot and cold climates. It is also certified for use in MTB riding and Winter sports.
The 2014 model includes a new inner layer of EVA foam, which is incorporated beneath the honeycomb plates for extra spinal protection. Inclined Cell Wall Technology provides maximum impact energy absorption, while the flex channels [highlighted in yellow] allow the spine section to move with the rider, so that the Aegis sits perfectly around the contours of the back. Another addition for 2014 is the breathable spacer fabric liner, which assists airflow to keep the rider cool, and can be removed and machine washed for freshness.
Produced in seven sizes, the Aegis has a multi-position waist strap and natural positioning shoulder strap system [both highlighted in yellow], for a precision fit on any rider. This specially developed securing system also prevents the protector ‘riding up’ during use. The Knox Aegis is available at a suggested retail price of £99.99 including VAT. Notes:
* EN 1621-2:2014 assesses the performance of protective devices by measuring the force transmitted through it when impacted by a falling mass of 5kg. Protectors subjected to this test are deemed to conform to the standard if the average transmitted force of 10 tests is less than 18 kN for Level 1 protectors and 9 kN for Level-2. All Knox back protectors have a 5 year service life. This means the materials used in the products will not naturally degrade over this time span. This excludes accident damage, general wear and tear, exposure to extreme conditions or substances that may cause adverse effects (petrol, oil, etc).
** Knox have a free replacement policy for 12 months after purchase if the user is involved in a police-attended accident and can supply the accident record.
