New Harley-Davidson CVO Motorcycles

New Harley-Davidson CVO Motorcycles deliver extraordinary design, performance and technology

CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide Powered by Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 Engine.

Harley-Davidson elevates the motorcycle riding experience with the mid-year introduction of two premium 2023 models from Custom Vehicle Operations™ (CVO™). The new CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models showcase advanced technology, enhanced rider comfort and dynamic performance propelled by the powerful new Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 121 engine. Exclusive and dramatic new visual designs present a transformative revision of the Harley-Davidson® Grand American Touring platform.

“With the all-new CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models, our mission is to advance every aspect of the Grand American Touring motorcycling experience,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “These models set a new standard for Harley-Davidson performance, technology and style, accelerating the evolution of the world’s most desirable motorcycle brand.”

2023 CVO Street Glide and 2023 CVO Road Glide

Iconic Design, Redefined
The new CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models feature stunning new design clearly evolved from the familiar shapes of previous Harley-Davidson® Grand American Touring motorcycles. Both models feature fairings with integrated venting and LED signature lighting with integrated turn signals. Additional design elements include a trimmed front fender, a new 6-gallon fuel tank with a distinctive side bevel, and saddlebags with a three-dimensional shape in harmony with the fairings and fuel tank. The new Combo Cast Laced wheels make a bold custom statement with a black machine-cut cast-aluminum rim and laced spokes. Each model will be offered in two highly detailed finish options.

2023 CVO Street Glide

Pinnacle Performance
The new 121-cubic inch V-Twin Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 121 engine establishes a new benchmark for factory-installed torque and displacement available in a Harley-Davidson® Touring motorcycle and features optimized liquid-cooled cylinder heads with a new cooling system, variable valve timing (VVT), a new intake tract and performance exhaust system.

Every aspect of design that could impact overall performance and the comfort was carefully considered during the development of the CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models. Dry weight has been reduced significantly – by 31 pounds for the CVO™ Street Glide® model and by 35 pounds for the CVO™ Road Glide® model – compared to the models they replace. High-performance front and rear SHOWA suspension components promote confident handling and provide a dramatic improvement in rider comfort compared to previous CVO™ models, with rear suspension travel increased by 50 percent. Premium Brembo™ braking components offer outstanding braking feel and performance for added rider confidence.

For the first time the CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models offer selectable Ride Modes – Road, Sport and Rain – that electronically control a specific combination of power delivery, engine braking, Cornering-Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering-Traction Control System (C-TCS) settings.

Aero and thermal comfort are informed by all-new fairings with a “floating” windshield design, and by adjustable air-control vanes. In wind tunnel testing, subjective helmet buffeting is reduced by an average of 60 percent compared to equivalent 2022 models. The new engine cooling system will further improve thermal comfort for the rider compared to previous CVO models.

2023 CVO Road Glide

All-New Infotainment Powered by Skyline™ OS
The CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models introduce an all-new suite of infotainment technology powered by the new Skyline™ OS. A 12.3-inch TFT color touch screen replaces all analog instrumentation and most switches. This premium display is customizable within three distinct view options and is compatible with Apple and Android devices. Wi-Fi connectivity enables wireless connection to a rider’s device, and a Bluetooth® receiver for wireless headsets is built into the system. Both models feature expanded media storage compartments with a USB-C connection point. A premium, high-performance Harley-Davidson® Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate® Stage II four-speaker audio system is powered by a new 500-watt RMS amplifier.

The CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models will make a U.S. public debut in Milwaukee during the Harley-Davidson Homecoming™ Festival, July 13-16, 2023. Both models will reach authorized Harley-Davidson® dealer showrooms globally in mid-July.

2023 Honda EM1 e

New ModelHonda’s first EV for young European riders is here. The EM1 e: is equipped with a swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, delivering real convenience, and fun, emission-free urban transport. An in-wheel electric motor supplies the drive; usable range is 41.3km and top speed is 45.0km/h. Specification includes digital instrument display, underseat storage space, USB socket, pillion footpegs and rear carrier.

23YM HONDA EM1e Location
  1. Introduction

The EM1 e: is Honda’s first two-wheeled electric vehicle for customers in Europe, following the announcement in September 2022 of the company’s plans to introduce 10 or more electric two wheelers globally by 2025. It is also a notable first step towards meeting Honda’s stated aim of carbon neutrality for all its motorcycle line-ups during the 2040s.

The ‘EM’ stands for Electric Moped, and the model is aimed squarely at a young demographic looking for easy, fun, emission-free urban transport. It is compact, flat-floored, with smooth styling that marks out its difference and unique identity within the Honda range.

Perfect for short hops around town and making journeys to work or college efficient, quiet and emission-free, the EM1 e: syncs neatly with modern expectations for urban mobility.

And, as growing local legislation around parking in cities across Europe restricts the use of traditional Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), quite naturally the EV market is growing. Honda is now entering this space with a fresh, high-quality choice for both young riders and short-range commuters alike.

For a typical student, who might do a 30km total ‘lap’ of the city during an average day, the EM1 e: is a compelling proposition: simple to ride and to handle, quiet, environmentally- friendly transport.

And the first of many.

23YM HONDA EM1 e:
  1. Model Overview

Compact, easy to use and offering clean mobility with fresh new styling, most of the EM1 e: is conventional: steel underbone frame, telescopic forks, twin shock absorbers and disc front/drum rear braking are classic moped features.

What’s really new are the electric in-wheel motor and Honda’s own Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, which can be removed for easy recharging at home using the bespoke charging unit.

The EM1 e: is fully equipped with digital dash, high quality switch gear, long floor area, underseat storage space and USB charging socket. It also features pillion footpegs, rear carrier and side stand for speedy parking.

Usable range is 41.3km with a top speed of 45.0km/h.

Also new is the sales method. To ensure customers do not have to take responsibility for the disposal or recycling of the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, the EM1 e: together with the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: and charger will be available based on a lease, rental or subscription scheme, depending on the country. This will give customers complete peace of mind throughout the life of the EM1 e: regarding both the continued performance of the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, and its eventual disposal.

The 2023 (23YM) EM1 e: will be available in three contemporary colour options:

    • Pearl Sunbeam White
    • Digital Silver Metallic
    • Matte Ballistic Black Metallic

      23YM HONDA EM1 e:

  1. Key Features

3.1 Battery & Charger

  • Honda durability ensures over 2,500 charges are possible
  • 160 minutes to charge from 25% to 75%
  • 50V Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swappable lithium-ion battery pack
  • 270W air-cooled charger for domestic use

The EM1 e: is powered by the 50V Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, developed in-house by Honda with the same relentless focus on durability, reliability and quality for which its internal combustion engines have long been known.

A single charge will offer a usable riding range of 41.3km or approximately 48.0km in ECON mode under Honda’s internal test conditions (30km in WMTC Class 1 testing conditions) and the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: is designed to withstand different temperatures, humidity levels, impacts and vibrations.

As its name suggests, the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: is a swappable battery that can be easily removed from the EM1 e: for charging in the comfort of home. Operation is simple: the charger, complete with air-cooling fan, draws from a single phase AC100-240V domestic source and produces 270W maximum. Weight of the charger is 5.3kg and LED indicators show charging status in 4 segments. The Honda Mobile Power Pack e: itself weighs approximately 10kg and can be easily carried and replaced thanks to an easy-to-hold handle.

From zero to maximum, charging time is approximately 6 hours; from 25% to 75%, only 2.7 hours (160 minutes) are needed. Honda’s famed durability means that the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: can be charged over 2,500 times (internal testing conditions**).

The in-wheel motor is rated at 0.58kW output and produces 1.7kW at peak. In ECON mode, output is set at 0.86kW. Top speed is 45km/h and the EM1 e: can climb a 10° angle with a weight of 75kg on board. ECON mode softens throttle operation and reduces top speed, extending usable range to approximately 48.0km.

23YM HONDA EM1 e:

3.2 Styling & Equipment

  • Digital instrument display and USB Type-A charging socket
  • 3L underseat storage
  • Rear carrier and pillion footpegs

Deliberately shaped to stand apart from its ICE siblings, the EM1 e: is slim and compact, blending a mixture of smooth, organic curves up front with a more angular, purposeful rear section.

A 12V battery powers the scooter’s systems and all lighting is LED. A simple digital dash displays all the information that matters concisely, including remaining battery charge percentage.

There’s 3.3L of storage space under the seat, and an inner pocket large enough to store a 500ml PET water bottle can be found on the left side of the fairing front; on the right a USB socket for smartphone charging is a useful feature. There’s also a handy hook to hang a bag from, and grab rails for the pillion passenger.

A rear carrier is also fitted as standard while the pillion footpegs fold neatly into the bodywork when not in use.

A useful 35L top box and rear carrier will be available as an optional accessory.

3.3 Chassis

  • Steel underbone frame, telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks
  • 740mm seat height, 95kg weight including battery
  • Front hydraulic disc and rear drum, linked by CBS (Combined Braking System)

While a lot about the EM1 e: is new, its chassis is more familiar and all at once effective, reassuring, lightweight and tough with easy, confident handling the goal. It’s supremely compact, just 1,860mm in length with a very manageable 740mm seat height. Ground clearance is a healthy 135mm and maintenance weight is just 95kg including battery.

The frame is a durable steel underbone design; 31mm telescopic forks are matched to twin rear shock absorbers equipped with double tube dampers. Rake and trail are set at 27°/77mm against wheelbase of 1,300mm.

Tyres are sized 90/90-12 front and 100/90-10 rear. The front wheel is cast aluminium, the rear an aluminium/steel composite design. The brakes – 190mm/single-piston caliper disc front and 110mm drum rear – are linked by Combined Brake System (CBS) for smooth stopping control. When the rear brake is activated, CBS distributes braking power to the front caliper.

Harley-Davidson Enthusiast Collection Introduces Fast Johnnie

High-Performance 1960s and ‘70s Muscle Cars Inspires Limited-Edition Trio of Motorcycles.

Harley-Davidson celebrates muscle car culture and its racing heritage with the introduction of Fast Johnnie, the 2023 addition to the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection of limited run bikes featuring factory-direct custom paint and graphic treatments.

Executed in Celestial Blue with white racing stripes, this special Enthusiast Collection paint scheme is offered factory-installed for three 2023 Harley-Davidson models: the Low Rider® ST, the Street Glide® ST and the Road Glide® ST motorcycles, with combined production limited to no more than 2,000 models globally.

Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection models celebrate Harley-Davidson riders and are inspired by their stories and legacies. The Fast Johnnie paint scheme taps into iconic design themes featured on high-performance muscle cars and pony cars of the 1960s and 1970s – contrasting “racing” or “rally” striping over a bold base colour, and a clever or symbolic character or logo incorporated into the graphics package. Both elements served to create an obvious visual difference between the high-performance version of a car and the standard version of the same model. The Fast Johnnie character applied to the left side of the fuel tank also appears on the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory team motorcycles raced in the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series. It was inspired by the story of a piglet named Johnnie adopted in 1920 by Harley-Davidson racer and member of the infamous “Wrecking Crew,” Ray Weishaar, which became a team mascot. The piglet often perched on a motorcycle fuel tank for a post-race victory lap and is usually cited as the source of the “Hog” moniker that to this day is often applied to anything Harley-Davidson.

“The striping graphic effect is a powerful signal to the generation that came of age during this era, and is still impactful today,” said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director. “The Celestial Blue base colour selected for Fast Johnnie recalls a popular tone from the muscle car era. For the graphic striping, we created a custom white colour formulated to authentically reflect the era, executed in a classic thin-wide-thin pattern on the sides and top of the motorcycle bodywork. The look is a nod to pure Americana.”

On the tank and front fender “Harley-Davidson” script replaces one of the thin stripe elements.

Depending on the motorcycle model, the striping is applied to the front and rear fenders, the fuel tank top and sides, the front of the fairing and the side covers and saddlebags. The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection logo is on the rear fender.

Low Rider® ST Fast Johnnie Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection
Strap down your bedroll and make a run for the border. The Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® ST model is an American V-Twin sport-touring bike for the rider who digs clean-and-lean West Coast style and craves the outrageous performance of the Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin powertrain. The Low Rider® ST model connects these riders with pure Harley-Davidson attitude. Mechanical features are identical to the 2023 Low Rider® ST model.

Special Styling Features

  • Celestial Blue with custom white detailing
  • Enthusiast Collection logo on rear fender
  • Graphic on both sides of the fuel tank – Fast Johnnie on left, Bar & Shield on right

Street Glide® ST Fast Johnnie Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection
Elevated pro-touring bagger performance and style for the rider who just can’t get enough of either. The Street Glide® ST model pairs the muscular Milwaukee-Eight® 117 powertrain with tough West Coast styling influences and new dark-and-bronze finishes topped off with Screamin’ Eagle® exhasut. Undiminished comfort and the iconic batwing fairing appeal to the traditionalist mindset. Meet the new breed of speed and style from Harley-Davidson.

Mechanical features are identical to the 2023 Street Glide® ST model.

Road Glide® ST Fast Johnnie Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection
The sleek Road Glide® ST model projects more menace than ever and backs it up with the street-scorching power of the Milwaukee-Eight® 117 powertrain along with Screamin’ Eagle® exhaust. West Coast styling elements and black-and-bronze finishes set this bike apart from the performance bagger crowd. Legendary comfort and the “sharknose” fixed fairing appeal to a rider who wants to make quick work of the open road. Mechanical features are identical to 2023 Road Glide® ST model.

Road Glide ST and Street Glide ST Special Styling Features

Harley-Davidson Launches A New Icon With Electra Glide Highway King

Icons Motorcycle Collection Takes a Ride Back to the Swingin’ 60s.

The Electra Glide® Highway King model, the third instalment in the Harley-Davidson Icons Motorcycle Collection program, is an exercise in unabashed nostalgia.

Laced wheels, wide-whitewall tyres, a two-tone windshield, solo suspension seat and carefully curated colours are all inspired by a true Harley-Davidson icon – the 1968 FLH Electra Glide® model, a motorcycle that ruled the road in an era of paper maps and 15-cent burgers. The limited edition Electra Glide® Highway King model combines the flair of the Swingin’ 60s with the comfort and technology of a modern Harley-Davidson® Grand American Touring motorcycle.

The Icons Motorcycle Collection is an annual program for the limited release of a new model that offers a fresh interpretation of an iconic Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. A limited collection, each model is individually numbered and produced only once. Global production of the Electra Glide® Highway King model will not exceed 1,750 examples.

The Icon
In 1968 the Electra Glide® model topped the Harley-Davidson® motorcycle line. Riders who wanted a little extra touring comfort and convenience could order theirs with the King of the Highway accessories group, which added fiberglass saddlebags, a windshield, a luggage rack over the rear fender, and engine guards.

“In its day this was a really deluxe motorcycle,” said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director. “The colours we’ve selected for the Highway King model are reminiscent of the original colour options offered in 1968. We carefully matched each colour in the lower section of the windshield. In 1968, the accessory fiberglass saddlebags were only offered in white, so we’ve done the same in 2023. The result is a thoroughly modern motorcycle that looks unapologetically old school.”

The Highway King model will be offered in two colour options: Hi-Fi Orange (limited to 1,000 produced) and Hi-Fi Magenta (limited to 750 produced). Hard-shell saddlebags are finished in Birch White, and a Black Denim panel on the fuel tank is separated from the primary colour with a Birch White accent stripe. The tank badge is very similar to the one used in 1968. An

Icons Motorcycle Collection graphic and serialization badge is laser-etched into the console insert.

The detachable windshield features a tinted lower section colour-matched to the paint colour. A solo saddle with a black-and-white cover and a chrome rail, mounted over an adjustable coil spring and shock absorber, is another nod to the style of Harley-Davidson® FL models from the 1960s. Chrome steel laced wheels and wide whitewall tyres add to the nostalgic look, as do the brilliant chrome front fender rails and saddlebag rails, front fender skirt, and Ventilator air cleaner cover. An Electra Glide script is placed on each side of the front fender.

The foundation of the Electra Glide® Highway King model is the single-spar Harley-Davidson® Touring frame with a rigid backbone design. The entire chassis is designed for the long haul. A single knob hydraulically adjusts the pre-load of emulsion-technology rear shock absorbers for optimal ride and control based on bike load. The 49mm forks with dual bending valve suspension technology deliver linear damping characteristics for a smooth ride.

A Milwaukee-Eight® 114 V-Twin engine delivers power with authority. For the rider focused on performance this engine accepts all applicable Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® Stage Upgrade kits and comes with a Screamin’ Eagle® fitted exhaust. Standard electronic cruise control holds a steady speed for comfort on long rides. Halogen headlamp and auxiliary lamps provide outstanding illumination while maintaining the nostalgic styling. Reflex™ linked Brembo® brakes offer stopping power. A full suite of Rider Safety Enhancements by Harley- Davidson is standard, including Cornering Enhanced Anti-Lock Brake System, Cornering Enhanced Electronic Linked Braking, Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System, Cornering Drag-torque Slip Control System and Vehicle Hold Control.

Harley-Davidson Introduces All-New CVO Model Motorcycles

Limited mid-year CVO Street Glide and Road Glide models to debut at Harley-Davidson Homecoming in Milwaukee and Budapest 120th Anniversary events.

Since 1999, Harley-Davidson® Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) motorcycles have been an aspirational collection of limited-production motorcycles that deliver the ultimate in refinement of styling, design, craftsmanship and attention to detail, along with top-of-the-line performance. Over the decades, Harley-Davidson designers and engineers have thoughtfully evolved these motorcycles, introducing incremental improvements to further enhance the riding experience, while carefully respecting their heritage and position as icons within the hearts and minds of enthusiasts around the world.

Today, Harley-Davidson announces two new 2023 CVO motorcycles with exclusive and dramatic new visual designs, advanced technology, and dynamic performance, the details of which will be announced on 7th June 2023, with the official premiere of the all-new 2023 CVO Street Glide® and CVO Road Glide®. More information will be available from 3rd May 2023 at: www.h-d.com/ourfutureisreal.

With the introduction of the all-new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide, we’ve completely reimagined two of Harley-Davidson’s most iconic motorcycles and redefined the boundaries of CVO in the process,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson.

“By rethinking these two models from the ground up, we are ushering in a new era of innovation, design, engineering, and technology, while expanding the definition of Harley-Davidson CVO and taking the Grand American Touring experience to another level. The new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide break the mould and reset the bar for the pinnacle Harley-Davidson riding experience.”

Commenting on the design of the new motorcycles, Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director, said: “These all-new and unquestionably Harley-Davidson designs bring a cohesive and dynamic flow from the front fenders to the saddlebags. Achieving a greater degree of visual change than any generation prior, the design of these CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models are revolutionary takes on the historical art of evolution. Like all Harley-Davidson motorcycles, these new models are meant to instil a sense of timeless desire.”

2023 Harley-Davidson® CVO Street Glide®

The all-new batwing fairing featured on the 2023 CVO Street Glide® model offers an evolved profile exhibiting a faster overall gesture and more swept windshield. Undercuts beneath the headlamp are more pronounced, and turn indicators are integrated as opposed to external units. While the iconic “T” shape of the batwing fairing is retained, the silhouette and graphic outline have been modernised with updated surfacing, and the new fairing integrates in design with the fuel tank, side covers and saddlebags. The “Omega-shaped” signature light provides instant recognition of the new model and turn signals are seamlessly integrated into the left and right lamp elements.

2023 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide®

The all-new CVO Road Glide® model fairing presents an aggressive update to the MY22 “sharknose” design and integrates with the fuel tank, side covers and saddlebags. The single LED headlamp has a wide, horizontal shape, yet appears to have twin elements, recalling a key feature of all previous Road Glide model fairings and turn signal lamps are integrated within the outer portions of the signature lighting.

Both models feature:

  • Dramatic new visual designs
  • New Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 121 engine
  • All-new suspension
  • All-new infotainment system
  • Offered with two paint / finish options.

Zapp Reveals Production Version Of i300 Carbon Launch Edition

Zapp Electric Vehicles Limited (“Zapp” or the “Company”), a UK-based high-performance two-wheel electric vehicle company, today revealed the production version of its limited-run i300 Carbon Launch Edition.

The i300 Carbon Launch Edition is designed and built with premium specifications, featuring unique carbon fibre fender, diamond cut wheels, a red rear spring, carbon hard carrier and a commemorative plaque with the founder’s signature. Just 1,000 units will be built.

Today also sees the launch of the new Zapp e-commerce website (www.zappev.com) which features a high-definition 3D configurator for customers to explore and build the i300, as well as order their bike.

In combination with Zapp’s boutique-style Paris flagship store, the new website marks the rollout of Zapp’s innovative drop-ship-direct-to-customer (DSDTC) sales model, which offers customers more control over how they build and order their i300, online or in-store. A “Zapper”, a franchised and trained technician, in a Zapper van will deliver and service Zapp vehicles at the location of the customer’s choice.

Swin Chatsuwan, founder and CEO of Zapp, said: “We are incredibly proud of the i300 Carbon Launch Edition. It is our expression of performance and style. With the launch of the new Zapp website, we are upholding our philosophy to make Zapp vehicles ‘easy to buy and easy to own.’ Zapp’s boutiques are relaxed places where customers can discover the product and ownership experiences in a friendly, informative, no-haggling environment. Equally, our new configurator and website have been built on simplicity and transparency for the customer.”

The Paris store is the first of a global network of Zapp stores which will offer customers the opportunity to test ride the i300 , as well as to learn about the product.

As an antidote to the traditional automotive showroom model, Zapp experts will be on hand to introduce the i300 and all of its features and guide the customer through the online configuration and ordering process.

If a customer prefers to order online without visiting a store, they can do so on www.zappev.com. This offers price transparency and freedom of choice across the sales journey.

The DSDTC model has been designed to uphold Zapp’s core philosophy of ensuring its vehicles are ‘easy to buy and easy to own’. Every customer will have their i300 delivered to an address of their choice. The bike will be delivered in a Zapper van by a trained Zapper, who will provide a complete handover of the i300.

Any servicing of the i300 will also be performed on-site at a location of the customer’s choice – whether at home, an office or somewhere else – by a Zapper in a Zapper van.

The Zapp i300 electric performance city bike is built around an exoskeleton architecture and powered by an advanced electric motor, enabling it to match the acceleration of high-performance motorcycles in a step-through architecture. The i300’s interior permanent magnet electric motor and carbon fibre belt drive combine to drive acceleration from 0 to 30 mph (48km/h) in just 2.3 seconds and from 0 to 50 mph (97km/h) in 5.0 seconds.

Panels of Heirloom Red are applied over a base coat of Anniversary Black, each outlined with a bright red pinstripe and a hand-applied gold paint scallop. Subtle details added within the panels portray the head and wings of a soaring eagle.

Additional details include luxurious Alcantara seat surfaces with gold and red contrast stitching accents, gold-tone powertrain inserts and bright red rocker boxes and pushrod tube collars. Only 1,500 examples of this fabulous motorcycle will be produced for global distribution, each serialised with a laser-etched panel on the fuel tank console. Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for the CVO™ Road Glide® Limited Anniversary model is £50,395 (€63,995 ROI).

Special 120th Anniversary paint in a different scheme will be offered on six additional limited-production Harley-Davidson® models, with colour and design combinations inspired by early Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Each features a classic paneled paint scheme with gleaming Heirloom Red as the base colour. Panels are outlined with a bright-red pinstripe and filled with a darker Midnight Crimson fade. Breakout® model goes big
The Breakout® model flexes more muscle and flashing bright new styling over its long-and-lean chopper profile. The muscle is provided by the Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin engine, the pinnacle of torque and displacement in a factory-installed, regular-production Harley-Davidson® powertrain that gives the Breakout rider instant bragging rights on the street.

Other new features include:

  • 18.9 litre fuel tank topped with a low-profile chrome console shaped to lengthen the motorcycle profile and extend riding range.
  • A new handlebar riser and polished stainless steel handlebar is 19 mm taller than the previous model for improved rider reach to controls.
  • A dazzling chrome finish is applied to the rear fender supports, side covers, muffler shields, turn signals, mirrors, Heavy Breather intake, and new 26-spoke cast-aluminum wheels are finished in gloss black with machined details.
  • A Harley-Davidson® Softail® chassis maintains classic hard tail lines without sacrificing thoroughly modern ride and handling performance. The Breakout® model is designed to rule the street with style and power. SRP for the new Breakout® 117 starts at £24,195 / €31,495.

More Cruise Control and Traction Control
Electronic cruise control will be a standard feature for the Fat Boy®, Fat Bob®, Breakout®, Low Rider® S models, and remains standard on Low Rider® ST, Heritage Classic and Sport Glide® models.

Traction Control System will be offered as a new option for the Breakout®, Low Rider® S and Low Rider® ST models. Traction control is designed to prevent the rear wheel from excessive spinning under acceleration. The rider may turn traction control off using a button on the hand control.

Exhilarating new Nightster® Special model
This new middle-weight contender amplifies the Nightster® motorcycle riding experience with a host of style, convenience and technology upgrades. Exhilarating performance is delivered by the Revolution® Max 975T liquid-cooled V-Twin engine, tuned to make tremendous torque at low RPM. To minimise overall motorcycle weight the engine is integrated into the vehicle as the central member of the chassis.

Key Nightster® Special model features include:

  • Passenger pillion and foot pegs enable two-up adventure.
  • Cast aluminum wheels with Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
  • Handlebar and 127 mm (5-inch) handlebar riser move hand controls 50.8 mm (2-inch) up and 25.4 mm (1-inch) back to put the rider in a commanding position on the motorcycle.
  • 101.6 mm (4-inch) round TFT screen displays all instrumentation and infotainment functions, managed using buttons on the hand control array.
  • The display supports infotainment generated by the rider’s Bluetooth®-equipped mobile device. Most infotainment functions also require a Bluetooth headset and speakers worn within a helmet.
  • Using voice commands through the headset, the rider can receive or place calls through a mobile device.
  • Navigation is supplied by the Harley-Davidson® App for iOS or Android downloaded into the rider’s mobile device. When navigation is enabled, the rider may select a moving map display or turn-by-turn map displayed on the screen, assisted by audio instructions through the headset.
  • Premium Brembo braking components provide outstanding braking feel and performance for added rider confidence. Single front brake with axial-mount four-piston caliper and 320 mm rotor. The single rear brake features a floating single-piston caliper and 260 mm rotor.
  • A 11.7 litre fuel cell located below the seat moves the weight of fuel low in the chassis, which lowers the center of gravity for improved handling. The fuel fill is reached by lifting the hinged locking seat.
  • Selectable Ride Modes: Road, Sport, Rain, or create a set of custom modes
  • Rider Safety Enhancements by Harley-Davidson: Antilock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System, and Drag-Torque Slip Control System.
  • All-LED lighting
  • Standard cruise control and USB charging port.

Nightster® Special SRP starts at £15,395 / €19,795

Freewheeler® Model Goes Dark
The Freewheeler® model, an attitude-soaked, cruiser-inspired trike, gets a blacked-out restyle for 2023. The front end, headlamp nacelle, tank console, hand and foot controls, powertrain and exhaust all have black finishes in place of previous bright finishes. The result is a dramatic change in appearance that reinforces this model’s raw, hot-rod attitude.

New Gloss Black cast aluminum wheels feature exposed rear-wheel lug nuts for performance styling. Rear 18-inch wheels replace 15-inch wheels to give the Freewheeler® model a dramatic new stance. Riding on three wheels has never been so awesome.

Harley-Davidson Reveals New Apex Factory Custom Paint

H-D® Legacy of Competition Inspires Custom Paint for Nine Touring Models

Harley-Davidson® today revealed the new Apex factory custom paint option for select Harley-Davidson® Grand American Touring models. The dynamic new paint scheme debuts at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Apex custom paint is inspired by the long and successful competition history of Harley-Davidson®, the world’s most iconic motorcycle brand. A racing legacy established more than a century ago in hill climbs, enduros, and fairground flat tracks continues today as the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory team defends its 2021 MotoAmerica King of the Baggers championship.

“Apex factory custom paint gives riders the opportunity to express the thrill of speed and competition on the bodywork of their bagger,” said Brad Richards, VP of Design and Creative Director – Motorcycles. “This paint scheme communicates velocity and forward momentum with lines and colors inspired by Harley-Davidson® competition motorcycles.”

Flat track inspired finish

The Apex paint scheme features a graphic outline on the fuel tank which mimics the shape of the tank on the legendary Harley-Davidson® XR750 flat track racing motorcycle. On models with a fairing the graphic sweeps back to align with the tank graphic and leads with an angle that suggests speed. The lines on the front fender connect visually to those on the side covers and saddlebags, creating a flowing effect. When viewed in profile, the motorcycle appears to be in motion.

The colour scheme starts with a base of Vivid Black paint. A graphic element adds Gauntlet Gray panels surrounded by an accent stripe of Jet Fire Orange – the original colour applied to the XR750 competition models. Each panel is designed with inner drop shadows and a subtle Bar & Shield pattern that fades in and out throughout the scheme. This fade effect was inspired by the checkered fade seen on Harley-Davidson Factory Team race bikes. Clear coat paint is applied as a final layer. The Apex custom paint is applied in-house at Harley-Davidson York Vehicle Assembly and Harley-Davidson Tomahawk Operations.

Nine models available

The Apex custom paint will be offered globally for the remainder of the 2022 model ordering period as a factory-installed option for nine Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring models:

  • Road King® Special model – £25,795 including £1,900 Apex paint
  • Street Glide® Special Chrome model – £28,895 including £1,900 Apex paint
  • Street Glide® Special Black model – £30,095 including £3,100 Apex paint
  • Ultra Limited Chrome model – £31,095 including £1,900 Apex paint
  • Ultra Limited Black model – £32,295 including £3,100 Apex paint
  • Road Glide® Limited Chrome model – £29,995 including £1,900 Apex paint
  • Road Glide® Limited Black model – £31,195 including £3,100 Apex paint
  • Road Glide® Special Chrome model – £28,895 including £1,900 Apex paint
  • Road Glide® Special Black model – £30,095 including £3,100 Apex paint

Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories will offer Tour-Pak® luggage carriers and custom front fenders painted to match the Apex paint scheme. This will allow riders to further customise a motorcycle ordered with Apex factory custom paint.

See a local authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer for details on ordering a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle and accessories with Apex factory custom paint.

Honda UK announce plans to celebrate 30 years of the Fireblade

Fresh from a stunning Bennetts British Superbikes treble win at Silverstone, Honda announce plans to celebrate 30 years of the Fireblade at Round 3 at Donington Park.

In 1992 the first – the CBR900RR FireBlade – rewrote the rules of what a sports bike should be, light weight, but with real power. The 2022 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, Fireblade SP and Fireblade SP 30th Anniversary have been 30 years in the making and are the very essence of pure performance.

And, fittingly, against a backdrop of white hot Bennetts BSB racing at Donington Park (and after an incredible start to the season for Glenn Irwin and his CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP) over Saturday/Sunday 21-22 May Honda UK is celebrating 30 years of competition. Because that’s what created the first and defines the latest Fireblade.

The four-man Honda Racing UK superbike team of Irwin, Ryo Mizuno, Takumi Takahashi and 2021 Superstock 1000 champion Tom Neave will be fighting hard for success on track but, for one weekend only, Honda is throwing a party and to get things started all Honda riders have a 20% discount off attendance tickets and exclusive parking at the Melbourne loop*.

Zero Emission Rider Training with Sunra

Following an unprecedented year for new motorcycle registrations in 2021, where the industry saw a 9% increase overall and a staggering 146% increase in electric bike registrations, Sunra UK is pleased to announce collaborations across the UK with training schools turning to EV products for training.

With the pandemic clearly impacting on commuter habits, the motorcycle industry as a whole certainly benefited from the increased adoption of powered two-wheelers, with the majority of registration increases coming from the smaller capacity and commuter segment.

With an obvious increase in CBT and rider training uptake, proactive training schools have been keen to adapt to the new generation of rider, utilising the benefits of EV models in the training environment, with some even taking advantage of zero emissions to offer an ‘any weather’ solution to training indoors.

Logan Black of Sunra UK commented, “While the registration figures in general are clearly great news for our industry, what’s really encouraging is the adoption of EV and as a result at many training schools too.  A big part of the appeal appears to be down to our products being less intimidating than ICE counterparts, but of course there are many other advantages too, including lower cost and ease of use too.”

Sunra dealers, Saltire Motorcycles, based in Edinburgh are one such dealer who have turned to EV use for their training school in conjunction with Sunra, not only seeing the general benefits of electric in the training arena, but in also offering a unique approach with an indoor training school.

Jethro Sheppard of Saltire Motorcycles commented, “The use of EV models has really hit a sweet spot for our rider training services. Not only has it made it easier for training, but using Sunra instead of petrol-powered scooters has made a significant saving in running costs for the business too. it’s also a far less intimidating first step on the motorcycling ladder and having an indoor space for training too is an absolute game changer when it comes to initially training new riders also. For us there really are no negatives to EV in this environment and it’s great to see customers go through the training and choose an electric bike themselves too.”

As the uptake in electric scooters and motorcycles continues to grow, thanks partly to the increasing emergence of Clean Air Zones across many UK cities, Sunra UK is pleased to support an ever-growing network of training schools, with many dealers running their own schools as well as supplying into the training network too. The team at Sunra UK welcome discussion with any interested training schools.

23YM Honda ST125 Dax

Model updatesSprinting joyfully out of the traps – and after a 41-year absence from Honda’s European line-up – the new Dax joins the Monkey and MSX125 Grom in Honda’s mini-bike line-up. Authentic, robust and offering simple riding pleasure, it features a pressed steel frame, 31mm USD forks, 12-inch wheels and air-cooled SOHC two-valve engine with four-speed gearbox and centrifugal clutch. Full LED lighting, compact negative LCD display and pillion grab rail complete the full specification list, and the intangible and timeless appeal of the unmistakeable Dax styling is something no spec sheet can encapsulate.

  1. Introduction

Honda’s pocketful of mini motorcycles has struck a chord with young and old riders alike. The re-imagined Monkey 125 tugs at heart strings that remember the golden 1970s while  providing thoroughly modern, compact and funky urban transport for riders of any age. The MSX125 Grom serves up left-field, customisable style for ‘Generation Y’ but also as perfect paddock transport in the worlds of car and bike racing.

For 23YM a new bike joins the fold. The ST125 Dax fully owns the genuine authenticity of the 1969 original* but brings thoroughly 21st century performance from chassis, engine and ergonomics. The most recent version of the Dax was produced from 1995 to 2003 for the Japanese market. The more recent European success of its siblings has hastened its return and its mischievous charm and easy-going riding proposition bless the ST125 Dax with an extra layer of desirability.

Of course, nostalgia will play a part in the Dax’s appeal to riders now in middle age – riders who may have owned a Dax in their youth and are pleased to see it return. Equally, ‘retro’ is important to younger owners; that’s real retro, not faux. A certain style sets some machines apart and the Dax has just that in abundance thanks to the form of its iconic T-shaped frame. Which is also how the bike got its name: extending from under the seat to the handlebars, and sitting atop the small 12” wheels, the look is reminiscent of the universally-adored Dachshund. Or Sausage Dog, to give it its everyday English name…

Unique, easy, usable and great fun. That’s the new Honda Dax. A faithful old friend is back.

*See Dax Milestones below.

  1. Model Overview

As it should, the Dax keeps it simple. A steel frame provides strength and houses the fuel tank while 31mm USD forks, twin rear shocks and 12-inch wheels with chunky tyres provide light steering and good suspension performance. Braking is via hydraulic discs front and rear with ABS control.

Robust and fuel efficient, the 124cc SOHC two-valve engine’s power is linear in delivery with smooth torque. A centrifugal clutch manages shifting between the four ratios so there’s no need for a handlebar-mounted clutch lever. It offers twist-and-go simplicity with the added entertainment of changes via a traditional left-foot gear lever.

All lighting is LED and a circular LCD display shows exactly what the rider needs to know. The pillion gets a chromed grab rail, too.

The 23YM Dax will be available in the following colour options:

Pearl Nebula Red

Pearl Cadet Grey

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Chassis

  • T-shaped pressed steel frame integral to handling and looks
  • 31mm USD forks, twin rear shocks and 12-inch wheels provide a smooth ride
  • Hydraulic disc braking front and rear with ABS
  • Full LED lighting and LCD instrument display

While the Dax is small, its proportions provide enough room to be comfortable for two adults to ride.

The styling really is the frame; everything is attached to, or held within it, giving the Dax its unmistakeable retro look. As do all the other parts; the thick dual seat – seat height is just 775mm – chrome high-set handlebars and the 1970’s dirt bike-inspired upswept muffler with drilled, slotted and chromed heat shield. The frame’s mid-section wears a black stripe with ‘Dax’ picked out in quirky font, right next to the classic Honda Wing logo that marks its special heritage. A unique finishing touch comes in the form of a cartoon image of a Dachshund.

A chromed mudguard leads and sits below the evocative, circular headlight. To add extra charm to the light, signature round LEDs are used and the front indicators/position lights sit snugly in between low and high beams. The compact instrument display is a round, negative LCD while the rear taillight and indicators take their cues from the headlight and are also LED.

There’s a neat chrome grabrail for the passenger to hold while a cover seals the drive chain away from weather and loose clothing. A rear carrier and heated grips are available as optional extras.

The iconic T-shaped frame design houses the fuel tank, is authentic in aesthetic detail and constructed in pressed-steel with modern engineering know-how. Rake and trail are set at 24.9°/84mm with wheelbase of 1020mm. Wet weight is just 107kg.

31mm USD forks provide supple suspension response and, combined with the wide upswept handlebar, easy steering. Twin rear shocks are tuned for smooth compliance, even with a pillion. Blacked-out 12-inch rims (from the super-cool MSX125 Grom) wear fat, balloon-like tyres; a 120mm wide front and 130mm rear. They add sure-footed grip allied to nimble agility.

Single-channel ABS manages braking force. Hydraulic front and rear calipers grip 220/190mm diameter discs respectively.

3.2 Engine

  • 124cc, air-cooled SOHC two-valve design produces 6.9kW and 10.8Nm
  • Stress-free centrifugal clutch and four-speed gearbox
  • Fuel economy of 63.7km/l (WMTC mode)

Drawn from the new Super Cub C125 – so flexible, efficient and durable – the Dax’s 124cc air-cooled engine features a SOHC two-valve cylinder head, with relatively long stroke and high compression; bore is set at 50mm, stroke at 63.1mm with compression ratio of 10.0:1. Peak power of 6.9kW arrives @ 7,000rpm, with peak torque of 10.8Nm @ 5,000rpm.

The engine’s strong performance means that even two-up a 90km/h cruising speed is achievable, with smart acceleration from low speed – just what’s needed for lively around-town amusement.

On the left-hand side of the bike the distinctive oval air box, filter and connecting tube ensure smooth, efficient airflow through the clean side, delivering crisp throttle response and driveability. The upswept muffler and heat shield is evocative of that golden motorcycling era of the ‘70s. A single catalyser is all that’s necessary; thanks to precise ECU settings and the engine’s combustion efficiency, EURO5 compliance is achieved.

In keeping with the laid-back, easy to ride feel the gearbox is a 4-speed unit (with neutral at the bottom) operated via centrifugal clutch, without the need for a clutch lever. At standstill the rider simply selects the gear required with the left-hand foot lever and, as the throttle is opened, the clutch operates automatically and does so through each ratio change, up or down.

Various low-friction technologies, like an offset cylinder and roller-rocker arms in the head, ensure impressive fuel economy of 63.7km/l (WMTC mode). This gives the Dax a range of approx. 240km from the 3.8L fuel tank.

  1. Origins of the Dax

In 1967, The Monkey Z50M was introduced in response to the demand for a ‘leisure-oriented bike’ for the American and European markets. Although well received, especially in America, by adults and children alike, thanks to its adjustable seat height and foldable features which allowed it to be loaded into a car, for 1969 American Honda requested a larger bike for its customers, but one that was still filled with the spirit of Monkey.

After visiting the US to better understand the requirements, engineers, inspired by the T-shaped frame of the CS90, which was a very popular bike in Japan, developed the Dax to have lower and longer proportions (compared to the Monkey) that allowed adults to have a more relaxed riding position as well as ride two up. The fuel tank, wiring and other components were housed in the T-shaped frame to create a unique, but also simple – and now iconic – design.

  1. Dax Milestones

1969 ST50/70 Dax Honda

Built for the export markets of Europe and the USA the original Dax was nifty, nimble and easy to ride. It appealed to both die-hard motorcyclists and recreational users as it was just plain fun. This is the bike that launched many two-wheeled journeys.

The engine was based on the well-established Super Cub engine, but with the addition of modifications to both the intake and exhaust system to provide more torque at low-mid range.

Available in both 50cc and 70cc versions, the Dax featured a 3-speed automatic centrifugal clutch, telescopic front suspension, hydraulic rear suspension and wide tyres with a unique tread pattern for stability and handling even when off-road.

1972 ST90 Mighty Dax

The ST90 Mighty Dax featured a more rigid T-shape frame, wider, more upright custom style ‘mini ape’ bars, high level front mudguard and a bigger engine that packed more speed and acceleration. The new larger 14in wheels came fitted with semi-off road pattern tyres to increase handling performance and stability, even when off-road.

1973 CY50 Nauty Dax

Aimed squarely at the RV (Recreational Vehicle) leisure market, the Nauty Dax was developed to offer even better riding performance and stability over rough terrain. Changes to the valve timing and the final drive – now with 4 speeds – increased torque in the low to mid range. With a new exhaust, fuel tank, side covers and unique rectangular shaped headlight, the Nauty Dax also featured a stepped seat and funky paint scheme. The new light and rigid diamond frame and the new fat balloon tyres made for easy rolling over rough campsite terrain

1995 ST50 Dax

After 14 years, the Dax returned to the Japanese market. All the iconic design cues remained in place – a pressed steel backbone frame, telescopic suspension, wide foldable bars, chrome mudguard, muffler and block tyres – and were joined by the addition of a longer seat. The 50cc engine featured an automatic cam chain tensioner and magneto ignition for easy starting. Enjoying an eight-year production run, the ST50 Dax finally went off sale in 2003.

2022 ST125 Dax

Straight out of the traps with a useful, usable 124cc engine, four speed gearbox and centrifugal clutch the Dax makes a welcome return to the Honda minibike fold, joining the Monkey and MSX125 Grom.

The Dax bounds back into Honda’s European motorcycle range

After an absence of 41yrs, the Honda Dax is set to finally return to Europe, joining the Monkey and the MSX125 Grom in Honda’s unique mini-bike line-up.

With its iconic pressed steel T-shaped frame, no other motorcycle, big or small, cuts the same shape as the Dax. The frame, which extends from under the seat to the chrome handlebars, is reminiscent of a Dachshund with its short legs and long body, which led to the naming of the original ST50 Dax in 1969.

The 23YM Dax keeps the unmistakeable, iconic look of the original, with the frame (which also houses the fuel tank) providing plenty of strength for two up riding. Suspension is taken care of by 31mm USD forks matched to twin rear shocks. Completing the classic look, these are paired to blacked out 12in mini-bike wheels, complete with fat, balloon-like tyres which allow effortless around-town agility. Lighting is full LED and the Dax features a striking, compact negative LCD display, chrome handlebars and pillion grab rail.

Delivering smooth power and torque from the EURO5 compliant 124cc SOHC two valve, air- cooled engine, the Dax features a centrifugal clutch and four speed gearbox for relaxed, enjoyable riding, solo or two up.

The 23YM Dax will be available in two dynamic colour options: Pearl Nebula Red and Pearl Cadet Grey, complete with both a classic Honda Wing logo and a model logo featuring the eponymous canine.

2022 Honda CMX500 Rebel

The Rebel, Honda’s popular A2 licence-friendly 500cc parallel twin-cylinder compact cruiser, receives a fresh new paint option for 22YM. Standard specification includes assist/slipper clutch, LED lighting and gear position indicator. A Rebel S version with factory-fitted accessories – headlight cowl, all-black fork covers and gaiters plus diamond-stitch style seat – is also available.
  1. Introduction

For many riders in their early 20s – Generation Z, who have grown up through the digital age – motorcycles mean so much more than just transport. They need to represent a lifestyle, an attitude, and allow them to express their own individual identity. These riders’ expectations are different to those of the motorcycling mainstream and the machines that speak to them reflect this. They have to fit in with their life but must also contain the potential for further individualisation. Fusing tradition and ground-breaking new ideas and perspectives, the CMX500 Rebel set out to be that motorcycle

Showcasing a classic, timeless look, but imbuing it with a forward-looking, contemporary style all of its own, the CMX500 Rebel was an instant hit on its introduction for the 2017 season. Its continued popularity ever since – including among female riders, who account for 33% of owners – has made it the best selling European model in the ‘custom’ category in 2021.

For 20YM, the Rebel received more comfort and practicality thanks to a revised seat and suspension settings, plus a gear position indicator. Both the headlight and tail-light were new, and the addition of LED indicators meant all lighting became LED. A refined exhaust system, including a new exhaust sensor, ensured EURO5 compliance.

Accessible, easy to ride and easy to live with, the Rebel goes its own way but is also a blank canvas, ready for whatever its owner’s imagination has in store. It carries on mechanically unchanged for 22YM, but gets an aesthetic boost from a brand new – and suitably off-beat – paint choice.

  1. Model Overview

Development of the Rebel began in North America, with an outlook geared toward firing the imagination of a younger generation of riders in a different way to traditional cruiser motorcycles. Powered by a 471cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, with strong bottom end torque and a smooth, linear power delivery, the Rebel is A2 licence friendly. It’s also slim, with a low seat height and therefore easy to manage at low speeds. The riding position is relaxed and neutral, with gently outstretched arms matched to mid-mounted footpegs.

The Rebel’s tubular steel frame draws fresh, contemporary lines into stripped-back, fat-tyred ‘bobber’ style. Blacked out to the maximum, with the minimum of paint, it also switches from solo-only to pillion-possible via two bolts.

The 22YM Rebel will be available in the following colour options:

Pearl Organic Green **NEW**

Mat Jeans Blue Metallic

Graphite Black

Mat Axis Grey Metallic

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Lean and low ‘bobber’ styling
  • Negative LCD display with white backlight and gear position indicator
  • Pillion pad and rear pegs easily removed for customisation
  • Factory fitted accessory kit available

Two key words ran headlined throughout the Rebel’s development programme: ‘SIMPLE’ and ‘RAW’. But to do so much with so little is an art form in itself, an exercise in minimalist design where every detail matters.

And the Rebel does not disappoint; rolling on fat tyres, its low and lean ‘bobber’ silhouette – crowned by the steeply raked 11.2L fuel tank and fat handlebars – sits the rider firmly ‘in’ the machine. From every angle of its stripped form it expresses an off-beat individuality.

Everything that can be is blacked out, which highlights the Rebel’s lithe design as well as underlining the subtle paintwork. All lighting is LED, and the evocative round headlight features a compact 175mm diameter lens and die-cast aluminium mount. The ultra-thin oval tail-light and licence plate light match the Rebel’s low-down stance; mini circular LED indicators measure only 55mm in diameter, with a circular position light included in the front indicators.

The speedo is a compact 100mm dial with negative LCD display and white backlight and is both striking and effective and features a gear position indicator and fuel consumption display. The ignition is housed below the left side of the fuel tank

The pillion pad and rear footpegs are easily removed and the accessories line-up includes a rear rack, backrest, tank pads and meter visor; a nylon saddlebag also available alongside the leather ones.

An ‘S’ edition – in Mat Axis Grey Metallic paint – comes complete with factory-fit headlight cowl with smoke screen, retro front fork covers and gaiters and a special diamond-stitch style seat.

3.2 Engine

  • 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine, A2 licence compatible
  • Torque heavy bottom-end output
  • Assist/slipper clutch aids control
  • 120mm ‘shotgun’ style exhaust

The Rebel’s 471cc 8-valve, liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine is drawn from the sporty CBR500R. For cruising duties, revised PGM-FI fuel injection mapping and different valve and ignition timings mean its character is shifted away from the high rpm-focused performance of the CBR to a torque-heavy bottom-end output, with smooth and linear delivery throughout the rev-range. Punchy maximum torque of 43.3Nm torque @ 6,000rpm combines with peak power of 34kW @ 8,500rpm.

It’s a power unit that strikes a great balance between physical size and flexible output. Bore and stroke is set at 67mm x 66.8mm with compression ratio of 10.7:1. Internally the cylinder head uses roller rocker arms; shim-type valve adjustment allows them to be light, for lower valve-spring load and reduced friction.

A silent (SV Chain) cam chain has the surface of its pins treated with Vanadium, reducing friction with increased protection against dust. Inlet valve diameter is 26.0mm with exhaust valve diameter of 21.5mm.

Friction is reduced by the addition of striations on the piston skirt (a finish that increases surface area, introducing gaps in which oil can flow for better lubrication). An AB 1 salt bath process, used after isonite nitriding, forms a protective oxidisation membrane.

The crankshaft pins are phased at 180° and a primary couple-balancer sits behind the cylinders, close to the bike’s centre of gravity. The primary and balancer gears use scissor gears, reducing noise. The crank counterweight is specifically shaped for couple-balance and its light weight allows the engine to spin freely, with reduced inertia.

The crankcases use centrifugally cast thin-walled sleeves. Their internal design reduces the ‘pumping’ losses that can occur with a 180° phased firing order. A deep oil sump holds 3.2L. Slick to use up or down the six-speed gearbox is designed to offer effortless changes, especially around town. An assist/slipper clutch makes the shift lighter and smoother, and controls rear wheel ‘hop’ on rapid downshifting.

The 2-1 exhaust scrubs spent gases in its catalyser, which then speeds them through its first chamber into the second resonator chamber; the sound produced has a heavy-duty pulsing feel that fits the torque delivery. A Linear Air Flow (LAF) sensor and internal adjustments to the 120mm diameter ‘shotgun’ style muffler help the engine’s EURO5 compliance.

3.3 Chassis

  • Low slung tubular steel frame
  • Compliant, supple damping front and rear; shocks nitrogen charged
  • 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear tyres

To support the Rebel’s low-slung look its attractive tubular steel frame grips the engine in three places and is designed to be as narrow as possible around the rider’s inseam. The fork spring rates and oil volume are optimised to give compliant damping and a smooth ride. Trail is set at 110mm with 28° rake; the 30° off-set of the forks, combined with 1490mm wheelbase, allows a low 690mm seat height. Mid-mounted footpegs help ensure a natural riding position, with balanced and neutral steering.

The frame includes an innovative rear loop that separates the thicker seat from the textured metal mudguard; the bolt-on cast aluminium subframe provides further scope for customisation.

At 230mm apart the 41mm front fork stanchions are set wide for handling rigidity, comfort and style. The tubular steel swingarm has a 45mm diameter and works twin, nitrogen-charged shock absorbers that feature 5 step preload settings.

Dunlop tyres are fitted as standard sized 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear. The style of the 16-inch cast aluminium wheels is crisp and simple, with the 296mm front disc acting as mirror to the spoke pattern. A twin-piston front caliper is matched by a single-piston rear.

  1. Accessories

As a motorcycle born to be accessorised there are a range of Honda Genuine Accessories available both individually or as part of the ‘comfort’ or ‘travel’ packs, that are ready to bolt straight on to the CMX500 Rebel including:

Headlight cowl

Pillion backrest

Meter Visor

Adjustable Brake Lever

Tank pads

Rear carrier

Throw-over saddlebags (leather or lightweight nylon)

12v socket

New Yamaha TMAX and TMAX Tech MAX Sport Scooters

Straight to the MAX.
During its 20 years as Europe’s most successful Sport Scooter, the TMAX has constantly evolved and improved to meet the changing needs of many thousands of customers who have chosen to ride this iconic machine.

For 2022 the TMAX benefits from a radical new Supersport-inspired design together with a more compact new body as well as updated wheels and suspension that deliver sportier handling performance.

It’s also the smartest and highest specification Yamaha Sport Scooter, and is equipped with full-colour 7-inch connected TFT instruments offering Full-map Garmin Navigation.* Sportier, slimmer and smarter, the 8th generation TMAX and TMAX Tech MAX are equipped to deliver the ultimate fully-automatic riding experience.

Rediscovering the essential TMAX
The two-wheel world changed forever when the first TMAX was revealed back in 2001. Never before had anyone seen anything like it. Here was a machine like no other, offering thrilling and easy to use performance, together with serious long-distance high-speed capabilities and unbeatable day-to-day convenience. Many had thought it impossible to create such a hybrid vehicle that could bring the scooter and motorcycle worlds together for the very first time.

Ever since the company was founded, Yamaha’s innovative designers have established a reputation for creating some of the world’s most exciting and radical new concepts that have opened up whole new segments in the marketplace. Examples include the company’s lightweight Deltabox frame technology that totally transformed the supersport bike scene in the 1980s.

So when the world witnessed the launch of the original TMAX – and the emergence of an all-new category 20 years ago – few people were surprised to discover that the first ever Sport Scooter was created by Yamaha Motor Company.

Sportier performance, more dynamic looks and connected technology
The 2022 TMAX remains true to the original concept that has made this revolutionary machine one of Yamaha’s best-selling models. The very special combination of a high-powered twin-cylinder engine mounted rigidly to a lightweight chassis and dressed in the most beautifully designed body is what makes the TMAX such an enduring success.

Since its introduction in 2001 this game-changing Yamaha has been the best-selling Sport Scooter every year for two decades, and the new higher specification model is fully equipped to reinforce the TMAX’s position at the top of the sales charts. Attracting a fiercely loyal and knowledgeable following throughout Europe, TMAX continues to provide both new and returning customers with a thrilling riding experience, together with Yamaha’s outstanding quality and highest levels of comfort and convenience.

Compact and dynamic new body
The TMAX’s all-new body is more compact than ever, and features a radical new face with aggressively styled wings and prominent angular air intakes, as well as slimmer dual LED headlights with integrated flashers that give an even more imposing and commanding Supersport-inspired look.

While still being instantly recognisable as the iconic TMAX, virtually every body panel and exterior part is redesigned for 2022 to give this best-selling model a more dynamic and edgy appearance that is bound to draw favourable comparisons with some of today’s leading supersport motorcycles. And that is exactly what makes the TMAX popular with Europe’s riders – it is a machine that offers the very best of both worlds by combining outstanding high speed performance, stability and sports handling of a motorcycle and the simplicity and user-friendliness of a scooter.

As well as its bold new face the TMAX features an all-new windscreen that contributes towards its compact new look and enhances ride quality – and there’s also a much slimmer waist section that improves rider mobility. The newly designed smoother tail section with its T-shaped rear light emphasises the clean and sporty lines – and new boomerangs and redesigned panels blend perfectly with the rest of the new body to give the 2022 model a fresh and attractive new look that continues the legendary TMAX bloodline while projecting a confident and contemporary look.

Extreme Yellow colour
To pay homage to the original model that totally transformed the marketplace and introduced a whole new way of living and riding, the new TMAX will be available in Extreme Yellow. This strong and bold colour will always be associated with the world’s first Sport Scooter, and perfectly captures the dynamic and fun-loving spirit of Europe’s number one scooter. Also available in Icon Blue and Sword Grey.

Connected 7-inch full colour TFT instruments
The new TMAX gets a significant upgrade with a best-in-class connected 7-inch full colour TFT screen that displays a range of easy to read data. Riders can select one of three display styles to suit their personal preferences. All three display a central digital speedometer – the Sporty style features a radial block-type tachometer, while the Intelligent style has a more subtle needle style tachometer, and the Authentic style displays a conventional looking needle tachometer.

Each display incorporates a wide range of running information, and the Intelligent style uniquely incorporates an animated visualiser that constantly changes appearance to enhance the feeling of rider-machine harmony and provide an added dimension to every journey.

Smartphone connectivity
TMAX riders can connect their smartphone to the 7-inch full-colour screen via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or the USB port located in the waterproof front storage compartment, which also features a dedicated smartphone holder.

After the smartphone has been connected, the rider can use the joystick and home button on the left handlebar to select chosen functions, including playing music, receiving notifications, checking on local weather and more. To listen to music or respond to calls a headset** connected via Bluetooth is required – and texts can be displayed when the TMAX is parked.

Full-map Garmin Navigation*
The new connected TMAX enables riders to access Full-map Garmin Navigation that gives spoken turn-by-turn directions through a Bluetooth connected headset** linked to the TMAX. This state-of-the-art system features live traffic updates and offers timesaving detour options. Garmin’s PhotoReal Junction View realistically depicts junctions and interchanges along the route for easy navigation, and a bright coloured arrow notifies the TMAX rider of the appropriate lane to be in for the next exit.

Garmin’s Rider Alerts provide a wide range of information on upcoming hazards along the route such as sharp bends, and also displays notifications regarding speed limits, nearby schools and more. The fuel tracking function estimates distance before a refill is required, and suggests places to stop. The TMAX’s Full-map Garmin Navigation system also shows real-time weather conditions as well as a daily forecast, making it a valuable asset for every journey.

The 7-inch TFT screen’s full-colour display gives a clear and easy to read navigation information, while continuing to show machine running information along the top and sides of the screen – and the app can be started and menus selected via the handlebar mounted joystick.

* Full-map Garmin Navigation requires a subscription service agreement and is not offered in all countries. Some navigation features are not available in all countries, please check with Garmin for availability.

** Headset not included with the TMAX.

Lightweight Spin Forged wheels
The TMAX’s sporty and precise handling performance is further refined by the fitting of new lightweight 10-spoke Spin Forged wheels that have been manufactured using Yamaha-exclusive technology – a process that makes it possible to produce wheels with much thinner sections while offering the same strength. These new lighter wheels reduce unsprung weight for more responsive suspension action – and the moment of inertia is reduced by approximately 10% at the front and 6% at the rear, to give a sportier ride and lighter feeling handling.

Newly developed suspension settings and new Bridgestone tyres
Equipped with high-specification 41 mm upside down forks and a single shock link-type rear system, the TMAX’s motorcycle-type suspension delivers class-leading handling characteristics and excellent stability at all speeds. For 2022 the new TMAX runs with revised suspension settings that have been developed to provide a higher degree of front end feel combined with enhanced agility. This has been achieved with an increased damping force that gives a slightly firmer feel to the suspension action.

The TMAX’s sporty handling and high-speed stability are also enhanced with the use of new model-specific Bridgestone Battlax SC2 tyres that have been developed alongside the Yamaha-exclusive Spin Forged wheels and revised suspension settings.

Sportier riding position
A revised riding position has been developed in order to enable the rider to enjoy the full sports potential of the TMAX’s powerful 560cc EURO5 engine and lightweight aluminium chassis. All three points of the rider triangle have been moved in order to create a slightly more forward-leaning body position. This has been achieved by the use of new-shape forged aluminium handlebars with a reduced backsweep and lower upsweep, as well as a longer main seat and longer footboards that offer more freedom of movement.

This sportier forward-leaning riding position together with the new handlebar shape gives the rider a higher level of feedback from the front wheel, enabling them to feel more connected with the road surface – and the high quality of the forged aluminium handlebars underlines the premium finish and best-in-class specification of this best-selling Sport Scooter.

Adjustable rider’s backrest
The longer main seat features an adjustable rider’s backrest with a total of 30 mm front/rear movement, giving added support when accelerating and extra comfort during longer rides. Together with the longer footboards and new handlebars, the longer seat improves the ergonomics and enables riders with different physiques to find the best riding position – as well as giving all riders greater freedom to adjust their posture to suit different riding conditions.

The TMAX’s slimmer waist section and narrower seat around the thigh area also improves the rider’s leg reach to the ground, and for increased passenger comfort on longer rides the footpegs are lowered by 5 mm and the hip position is raised by 15 mm.

Compact new low-noise adjustable windscreen
The TMAX is fitted with a newly designed adjustable screen that contributes to the new model’s more compact body design. A key feature on the new screen is a central air intake that is designed to reduce wind pressure on the rider’s upper body at higher speeds for a more comfortable and enjoyable ride. Another feature of the new screen design is that it reduces wind noise and contributes towards the new model’s better acoustics – enabling the rider to enjoy various smartphone audio services when using a Bluetooth helmet intercom system linked to the TMAX.

Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) with APSG
Europe’s number one Sport Scooter gets the full ride-by-wire technology package in the form of a new Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (APSG) that is linked to the proven Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T). This new APSG replaces the conventional cable and pulley system, and features a magnet and sensor that detects throttle inputs and transmits the data to the YCC-T.

This lightweight unit features a spring, slider and gear that give varying degrees of resistance so that is offers excellent controllability together with the intuitive feel of a traditional cable throttle.

Supersport-bike style combination headlights & T-shaped rear unit
TMAX is the most advanced scooter ever built by Yamaha, and the look and feel of the 2022 model takes one step closer to the motorcycle world with its aggressive new face that wouldn’t look out of place parked next to an R-Series supersport bike.

Newly designed slimmer twin-eye LED headlights feature mono-focus lenses that project a brilliant beam of light for excellent night-time riding vision and 24 hour visibility. The compact and sporty design features integrated flashers for a beautifully refined look that underlines the premium finish and high status of this class-leading Sport Scooter.

The view of the TMAX rear end is just as impressive as the front, and the new tail light features a model-exclusive T-shaped design with integrated flashers that reinforces the strong and bold presence of this high performance machine.

High performance 560cc EURO5 engine
The original TMAX was the first scooter to offer motorcycle performance with scooter convenience. Throughout its 20-year reign as the undisputed King of Sport Scooters this outstandingly successful machine has consistently offered Europe’s riders the best package of sporty performance, first-class engineering and premium ride quality.

A key feature of the powerful 560cc parallel twin cylinder engine is its even-firing 360-degree crank with a horizontally-opposed reciprocating piston balancer. Used on no other motorcycle or scooter, this unique design helps to cancel out vibration without the need for a conventional rotary balancer – thereby substantially reducing engine height and enabling the use of a larger underseat storage area. By adopting this TMAX-exclusive layout, Yamaha’s engineers have been able to create an engine that is powerful, compact and smooth-running – the ideal qualities for a Sport Scooter.

The original TMAX was also the first Sport Scooter to feature its engine mounted rigidly into a tubular chassis, a key feature that enabled riders to enjoy motorcycle-type performance for the first time.

Distinctive exhaust sound
The TMAX is known for its powerful sound quality with a clear and deep exhaust note that is unique to the this iconic Sport Scooter, and its distinctive tonality accentuates the thrill of the ride and creates a direct connection between the rider and the engine.

With its 360-degree crank and horizontally-opposed reciprocating piston balancer, the TMAX engine configuration is inherently a mechanically quiet design, and during the development of the 560cc engine attention was focused on creating a specially tuned sound that complements and enhances the sportiness of the TMAX. This clean and deep sound conveys a feeling of power at low rpm – and the intensity increases as the throttle is twisted, giving a thrilling and satisfying ride at all speeds.

Smart Key keyless operation and newly designed control switches
Keyless operation enables the rider to access their scooter as long as they have the Smart Key with them – and for 2022 the TMAX takes scooter convenience to the next level with its newly designed switches that simplify the whole process. A new centre switch brings many of the functions together so that the rider can now turn the main power on and off, activate the main switch and handlebar steering lock, and open the seat with fewer operational steps.

Electrically operated aero-style fuel cap
TMAX is the first Yamaha motorcycle or scooter to be equipped with a smart aero-style fuel cap that automatically opens if the hinge is flipped up within two minutes of the main switch being turned off. This flush-fitting fuel cap can also be accessed at any time as long as the user has the Smart Key on them – and the steering lock or main stand lock are active. There’s also an alarm that sounds if the fuel cap hasn’t been closed properly when the main switch is turned on.

BMW Motorrad presents “The Great Getaway”

Experience the beauty of nature for eight days on the “Big Boxer” motorbikes of the R 18 family, enjoy the freedom of endless expanses, immerse yourself in the urban jungle, sometimes discover the unexpected and leave the stress of everyday life behind.

In “The Great Getaway”, BMW Motorrad will be offering the perfectly organised travel format for a perfect time-out, arranged and carried out by BMW Motorrad partner Elephant Moto.

For the 2022 motorcycle season, three inspiring destinations have been planned to provide riders with outstanding motorcycling pleasure in heritage style: Costa Rica, Portugal and the USA. Each tour includes eight days of riding on motorcycles from the R18 family, a tour guide, hotel accommodation and meals, support vehicle and an extensive social programme. In short: everything has been thought of.

The “Big Boxers” will be cruising along rugged coasts, through dense forests and past mountains and waterfalls. The participants will get to know hidden places and exciting people, indulge in local and international cuisine and recharge their batteries for the next day in accommodation specially tailored to the tours.

With a maximum of twelve participants per tour, the 150 to 200 kilometre daily stages guarantee speedy progress on the road, great fun together in the evening and an intensive shared experience on the “Urban Day”, where the participants get to immerse themselves in the melting pot of famous cities: San José in Costa Rica, Lisbon in Portugal and Portland/Oregon in the USA.

New, intense impressions await the participants at every turn: pulsating life, foreign scents, spectacular architecture, even the soundscape is never the same. After all, every city has its own rhythm. And you meet the people who make the city’s heartbeat. For example, when visiting a handcrafter or a local market.

After dinner, the day ends in a variety of ways. For example, with a whiskey tasting, cocktails “on the roof” or live music, before everyone is back in the saddle the next morning: “The Great Getaway – start your R 18, please!”  Eight days of unforgettable riding pleasure combined with impressive experiences await the participants.

The time slots for “The Great Getaway” are:

1.       Costa Rica, March 2022

2.       Portugal, April to June 2022

3.       USA, August to October 2022
