New OptiMate USB-C on-bike charger

The first USB-C-ready on-bike charger for the latest generation devices.

USB-C has now been mandated in Europe as the single communication and charging connector for smartphones, sat navs and digital cameras, and OptiMate is ready with an on-bike charging kit.

The OptiMate USB O-118 is the first USB-C-ready on-bike charger, delivering 3300mA of fast charge – more than enough for the latest generation smartphones.

Like all OptiMate USB chargers, the O-118 is 100% true power rated, and delivers a continuous and consistent charge, which is essential for increasingly sophisticated modern devices. It automatically adapts the current to the connected device for safe recharging.

There’s also built-in protection for the bike’s battery. The O-118 will automatically stop charging the device when voltage drops below 13.3V, to prevent the bike’s battery and charging system being overloaded. When the engine is not running, it turns off charging after an hour.

As an added bonus the built-in battery monitor enables easy checking of battery health, and of course an OptiMate charger can be plugged straight into the O-118’s SAE connector for easy charging/maintenance.

Weatherproofing comes as standard, with an internal seal to help keep moisture out when a USB-C cable is plugged in, and a runner cap to seal out the elements when not in use.

It comes with M6 (1/4″) rings for connection directly to any 12V AGM or 12.8V LiFeP04 / LFP lithium battery, has a built-in fuse and 200cm (80”) of cable, so the USB-C end can be mounted on the handlebars, in a tank bag or under the seat.

The OptiMate USB O-118 retails for £49.90 including VAT.

Pre-season Battery Checks

Has your motorcycle been sitting in the garage or under a cover all winter long?

Batteries lose power over time, but with a few basic checks and a bit of maintenance you can make sure your bike starts on the button whenever you need it. We asked the battery saving experts at OptiMate for their top tips.

Your first job is to figure out the type of battery fitted to your motorcycle – is it Lead Acid (old school), Maintenance Free / AGM (common on most modern machines) or Lithium (becoming increasingly popular on high performance and off-road bikes). Here’s how to tell the difference.

Lead Acid
Conventional Lead Acid batteries will usually be labelled with reference numbers starting with the letters YB, CB or GB (e.g YB14L-A2); Y, C or G (e.g Y60-N24L-A); or 12N (e.g 12N24-3)

They usually have a black top with a row of plastic stoppers (three stoppers in a 6 volt battery and six in a 12 Volt). Inside are lead plates, surrounded by electrolyte mixture (the acid). This needs topping up with distilled water from time to time, so the stoppers can be removed to give access.

Maintenance Free / AGM
Maintenance Free or AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries are the most common type used in modern motorcycles, and normally have reference numbers starting with the letters YTX, CTX or GTX (e.g YTX9-BS).

They usually have a black case and have a stopper sunk into the top. Once filled, these batteries do not need to have the top removed, the acid level checked or be topped up. The electrolyte is suspended in fibreglass mats between the lead plates inside, hence the name.

Lithium Ion
Lithium Ion is the general group name used for all Lithium batteries. There are many different types – Lithium Iron Phosphate, also known as Lithium Ferrous Phosphate, is used for engine starter batteries. These will generally be marked as ‘Li-ion’, ‘LFP’ or ‘LiFePO4’.

Like Sealed/AGM batteries, Lithium Ion batteries usually have a black case, but have no stoppers in the top.

Check the condition of your battery
Multimeters can seem intimidating, but testing your bike’s Voltage with one is super simple, and they are a useful tool that costs little to buy.

With the ignition off, set the multimeter to the ‘20V DC’ (direct current) range. Connect or touch the red probe/clip to it to the positive terminal of your battery and the black one to the negative terminal.

If you’ve done it right, the Voltage should now be displayed on the meter’s screen.

A healthy 12V battery should give a reading between 12.5V and 12.9V. A conventional Lead-Acid should read 12.4V to 12.6V;  a Maintenance Free/AGM should be 12.7V to 12.9V; and a Lithium battery will normally be either 12.8V or 13.2V.

Next, start the engine and rev to between 3,000–4,000 rpm. This will indicate the voltage being put out by the alternator – an ideal charging range is between 14V to 14.5V, but down to 13.5V is acceptable.

If you have a lithium battery, your machine’s charging system should be putting out the safe charging rate of 14.4V. If it’s putting out more than that, there could be a problem.

If the reading is too high the voltage regulator could be faulty, which will cause the battery to overheat and fail.

If the reading is too low, the alternator is not generating sufficient current to recharge the battery – again another indication that there is a fault.

To make life easy, the OptiMate TS120 plug-and-play tester uses simple icons to indicate that everything is OK, or to highlight potential problems.

Attach a suitable OptiMate optimiser to your battery and it will test, check and assess your battery’s condition – again, using an easy-to-understand display to keep the user infomed – charging, repairing and even recovering deep discharged units automatically and safely.

Charging and maintaining
Regularly charging and maintaining your battery not only keeps it working to maximum capacity, it can also double its working life, as well as significantly reducing the likelihood of it failing.

There are many smart chargers on the market, which are designed to be attached to your motorcycle’s battery whenever it is parked up for long periods of time (more than a few days). These should not be confused with simple ‘trickle chargers’ which charge a battery slowly and then stop charging once a certain voltage is reached. Trickle chargers aren’t designed to be attached to batteries for long periods of time and won’t maintain a battery in the same way as a smart charger.

Recommended by most major motorcycle manufacturers, OptiMate chargers and optimisers can maintain, test, charge and even repair a bike’s battery, all completely automatically.

All OptiMate chargers run a unique ‘connect and forget’ 24hr, 7 days-a-week, 365 days-a-year program, so they can and should be connected to your bike’s battery and left to do their work – no user input needed.

OptiMate Bronze series chargers automatically detect whether the battery is AGM or Lithium and charge accordingly – no need to pre-select or remove the battery from the bike – and will be suitable for the majority of modern bikes..

Ducati Communication System V3 by Cardo

For the travellers, but also for those who ride their Ducati every day, the Borgo Panigale company presents the new Ducati Communication System V3 by Cardo.

The new intercom offers enthusiasts the most innovative communication technologies – such as Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) connectivity – without sacrificing the unmistakable Ducati red.

The streamlined, antenna-free silhouette makes this intercom aerodynamic, improving comfort, silence and aesthetics, and the magnetic mount for attachment to the helmet simplifies installation. Ducatisti can thus fully enjoy the sights and sensations of any trip without distraction or discomfort, supported by excellent connectivity.

It is equipped with the Dynamic Mesh Communication system, which guarantees stable performance and enables connection to a group of up to 15 motorcyclists within a radius of 1.6 km. It can also connect to any Bluetooth device by managing functions with voice commands, with automatic switching between intercom and phone.

Cardo’s proven Mesh connectivity allows the device to leave and rejoin the group automatically, without complicated procedures to be carried out when traffic conditions or an unexpected change of route lead to getting away from friends. Its high autonomy (13 hours with a two-hour full charge) makes it extremely practical. If necessary, with a quick charge of just 20 minutes, you already have two hours of autonomy. Software updates are possible via USB cable or via the Cardo Connect app.

A synthesis of comfort, practicality and ease of use, to make every journey an unforgettable experience.

Open Bluetooth Intercom (OBI) supported on all current* Cardo Systems devices

Following the release of a series of software updates, the innovative Open Bluetooth intercom (OBI) functionality is now available across all 2023 devices* from Cardo Systems – including the top-of-the-range PACKTALK EDGE to the Spirit.

A new cross-industry standard, Open Bluetooth intercom, allows supported units from Cardo, Midland and UClear to communicate seamlessly with none of the usual frustrations users experience when using ‘universally connected’ cross-branded devices.

Instead of the usual convoluted pairing process with ‘universally connected units’, OBI will be activated automatically when paired to a supported device – no further toggling is required. Even for non-OBI units, the devices can be paired in Bluetooth model as any other Cardo unit – no more having to choose between pairing to a non-Cardo unit or maintaining connection with a phone for calls or listening to music.

Pioneering the wireless Bluetooth communication market for motorcyclists in 2003, this technological roll-out cements Cardo’s commitment to provide motorcyclists with the best solutions to communicate while riding.

Users can easily update their Cardo device to activate the OBI functionality through the Cardo Connect App – and there’s no need for a cable with Over-The-Air software updates. The new software pop-up in the Cardo Connect App will appear automatically whenever a new version is available.

OptiMate Cable Converter for Heated Clothing

OptiMate’s O-67 Cable Kit converts an SAE battery charger lead to a DC jack for heated clothing.

Power heated clothing direct from your motorcycle using a regular battery charger lead with the OptiMate O-67 SAE – DC Cable Kit.

The handy kit comes with an O-67M SAE to 2.5mm Jack/Plug (male) and an O-67F SAE to 2.5mm Socket (female) lead, which are compatible with most heated garments. Both plug straight into any industry standard SAE 2-pin connector for an instant and secure connection straight to the battery – no need to run multiple cables from the terminals – and are a generous 30cm long to allow for short wires from heated clothing.

When parked up, simply disconnect the cable and plug the lead from the bike into an OptiMate charger to keep the battery in good health – something that is particularly important during colder weather.

Also included in the kit is an O-27 SAE to SAE Polarity Adapter, which enables connection to a range of other accessories.

All three adapters have a cable rating of 16AWG (1.32mm2) SPT-2W; feature weatherproof in-line seals on each SAE connector; and are tested to -40°C/-40°F, for complete confidence in a cold and damp winter environment.

The kit retails at just £29.90 and is covered by a 3-year warranty for complete peace of mind.

Oxford Celebrates Its 50th Birthday In 2023!

Still family-owned and family-run, the company has developed from the humblest of beginnings into the UK’s largest distributor of two-wheel aftermarket products and created an international brand to be reckoned with in all corners of the globe.

Now into its 51st year, the Oxfordshire-based brand packs an impressive punch, boasting a range of around 12,000 motorcycle and bicycle products, each one designed, developed and tested in-house at the firm’s R&D centre, part of their 150,000 sq ft empire in Oxfordshire. In the UK, the company also distributes several thousand product lines from some key global brands. And it all started in 1973 with the humble top box…

“Motorcycling was somewhat different in those days,” begins Oxford founder and Chairman, Alec Hammond, who back in 1973 was a 28-year-old sales manager working in the pharmaceutical industry. “There were massive numbers of folk riding to work and luggage hardly existed.”

Around that time, Alec was introduced to a Nottinghamshire-based innovator who had created a range of high-quality top boxes but had no idea how to get them to market.

“I agreed to show some samples to a few motorcycle dealers whilst travelling in the course of my job,” continues Alec. “The top boxes got a massive thumbs up from several dealers who clamoured to buy them. I became convinced that I could build a business in the motorcycle world, so I left my comfortable, secure job and pushed David to go into full-time production of the boxes.”

From fibreglass top boxes, Alec quickly branched out into bodywork, and it wasn’t long before the fledgling Oxford Fairings got into the sportier side of motorcycling.

“We got involved with racing fairly early on,” says Alec, “sponsoring several riders with our fairings on Peckett-McNab Kawasakis. This evolved over time until I was running our own team in the equivalent of BSB and at the Isle of Man.”

Although still very much involved with racing through the title sponsorship of the Moto Rapido Ducati BSB team, the Oxford of today is a far cry from those early days marketing fibreglass fairings and top boxes. In the early 1980s, Alec started manufacturing motorcycle locks, then came accessories – including the now legendary HotGrips, which were born in 1983 and have remained a constantly evolving product in Oxford’s line-up ever since.

Oxford’s huge range of products encompasses everything which makes life on bikes better: from clothing and helmets to accessories, hard parts, locks, luggage and more! Following unprecedented investment in staff, product development and infrastructure, the company now employs around 170 people.

Having established an impressive growth curve, which has seen turnover doubling every 5 years, the company has further ambitious expansion plans both at home and abroad.

Insta360 Link: The Powerful 4K Webcam Using AI to Redefine Remote Work

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Insta360 as they announced the launch of Insta360 Link, an AI-powered 4K webcam.

Insta360 Link offers the powerful combination of premium image quality with a seamless user experience for business professionals, educators and live streamers. Equipped with 4K resolution and an industry-leading 1/2’’ sensor, Link delivers life-like image quality, detail, and high dynamic range in any lighting conditions. A 3-axis gimbal and built-in AI algorithms enable the webcam to always keep the user in frame and respond to gesture controls. With versatile modes like DeskView and more, Insta360 Link is ready for any kind of remote work.

“Developing Insta360 Link was a natural evolution of our mission to help people share their lives. With the pandemic shifting work to our homes at an unprecedented rate, we saw the opportunity to help people ‘work from home’ better with our expertise in AI image processing. Link’s ultra-precise AI tracking algorithms and premium imaging hardware make communicating remotely more intuitive than ever before,” said JK Liu, Founder of Insta360.

Insta360 Link is available to order from August 2, 2022 via Insta360.com and select retailers.

Premium imaging

Insta360 Link offers best-in-class 4K Ultra HD resolution at 30fps, for online interactions that are true to life, with detail in all the right places. There are several resolutions and frame rates to choose from, as well as full settings customization for brightness, exposure, white balance, and more in the companion Link Controller software.

Link’s 1/2” sensor puts it head and shoulders above many other webcams with similar resolutions. The larger sensor size means it captures far more detail, has a better dynamic range, and stronger low light capabilities. This ensures a consistently perfect image in any room or environment.

A specialized HDR mode is also available to give greater balance between highlights and shadows in the image, ensuring the background isn’t blown out by a nearby window or other light source.

And blurry shots are a thing of the past thanks to True Focus. Link uses Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and auto exposure technology for near-instant focusing.

Work smarter with AI

“Insta360 Link is as much about the software as the hardware. Insta360 has been a pioneer in developing AI image processing technologies for 360 cameras since 2020, and we’re now bringing that expertise to a wider audience of people with Insta360 Link,” said Max Richter, Vice President of Insta360.

Link’s AI-powered features make life easier for webcam users in a number of ways. The 3-axis gimbal lens uses AI tracking to follow the user’s movement, keeping them perfectly centered at all times. With automatic framing and zooming, there’s no need to manually adjust the camera during a call.

For adjustments from a distance, Link responds instantly to gesture control. Using simple hand gestures, users can enable AI tracking, zoom in and out, and activate other camera modes. No clicks necessary.

Link’s advanced software also enables DeskView Mode, which allows users to quickly toggle between showing their face and their tabletop. Software algorithms level the perspective for easier viewing of documents, perfect for presenting during a video call or working out a math problem.

Specialized modes for improved communication

With so many potential use cases, Link has a series of specialized modes to give users every possible advantage when communicating online:

  • Whiteboard Mode: Enhance a designated whiteboard area to give students or meeting participants a much clearer view.

  • Portrait Mode: Live stream with a totally uncropped 9:16 view for optimal mobile viewing and better image quality.

  • Overhead Mode: Capture precisely level top-down views with Link mounted on a table stand, perfect for unboxing a product or sketching a design.

When you’re done with your call, Link’s lens will automatically point downwards within 10 seconds of inactivity to maintain privacy protection.

Life compatible

From dual noise-canceling mics to block out unwanted interruptions, to easy mounting with a built-in screen clip and 1/4” mount, Link is designed to fit seamlessly into everyday work and life. For video calling, it’s fully compatible with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Google Meet, and various other platforms on both macOS and Windows computers.

Insta360 Sphere Brings the Magic of 360 Filming to Drones

Insta360 Sphere, the invisible drone 360 cam, is the ultimate solution to turn a DJI Mavic Air 2/2S drone into an all-powerful content production tool.

With the camera attached, the drone becomes totally invisible in 360-degree footage, while the lightweight structure and intuitive operation make 360 aerial filming easier than ever before.

Insta360 Sphere offers immersive footage, without the need to buy a new drone or have professional flying or editing skills. Powered by Insta360’s industry-leading software, Sphere unlocks endless ways to create killer content from drone footage. Insta360 Sphere is available to order today via store.insta360.com in the U.S. and Mainland China.

Immersive footage without the learning curve.

From awe-inspiring landscapes to urban vistas, drone pilots have been capturing stunning aerial footage for years now. But, the key limitation of wide-angle cameras is that they can only capture in one direction. A user’s ability to get the best footage is dependent upon their flying abilities and the maneuvers they are capable of pulling off in real-time.

That’s no longer the case with Insta360 Sphere. By filming in 5.7K 360, users can adjust the angle and camera direction in their video after the fact. Using the easy reframing tools in the Insta360 app and Studio desktop, anyone can add thrilling rolls and turns to their aerial footage in post, achieving FPV-like footage on an easy-to-handle drone.

Shooting with a 360 camera also opens up the option of getting multiple edits from the same flight, in addition to the wide angle footage from the drone itself.

A truly invisible drone.

Many drone users are accustomed to mounting a 360 camera above or below their drone to get 360-degree footage. But since 360 cameras film in all directions, this means that half of the video is often obstructed by the drone itself, requiring tedious post-processing or paid video editing software to remove it.

With Insta360 Sphere, the camera’s lenses are precisely mounted on either side of the drone to ensure the drone is invisible in the resulting footage. Insta360’s proprietary dynamic stitching algorithm makes the whole drone (including the propellers) disappear automatically, leaving the user with glorious, uninterrupted shots.

Smooth flight, smoother shots.

Killer image stabilization is crucial to getting immersive aerial footage. Insta360’s proprietary FlowState Stabilization technology has been fine-tuned for Insta360 Sphere to ensure super steady aerial footage, no matter the conditions.

Perfectly compatible.

The camera is compatible with the Mavic Air 2/2S and attaches to the drone with an ultra-secure locking mechanism. There is zero impact on the drone’s structural integrity, and it doesn’t impede the GPS signal or remote control system.

Powerful AI editing suite.

Sphere represents a continuation of Insta360’s mission to help people capture and share their lives better, making Insta360’s industry-leading 360 reframing and editing software accessible to a wider range of creators. Sphere users can edit their videos using the same AI-powered features as the Insta360 ONE Series in the Insta360 app. Creative effects like barrel rolls and dolly zooms are as easy as a tap.

Become a 360 pilot today!

Insta360 Sphere is available from May 24, 2022 in the U.S. and Mainland China at store.insta360.com and retails for $429.99.

The racer, who has notched up 23 TT wins and 47 podiums during a glittering career which this year will see him compete in his 100th TT race, is an ambassador for the ignition and sensor specialist.

NGK has a rich pedigree in the two-wheel bike scene both on the road and also in the motorcycling racing arena where its spark plugs have helped the world’s leading teams and riders to countless victories.

Nine out of 10 bikers rely on NGK spark plugs which is no surprise as the company supplies the original equipment (OE) spark plugs for most motorcycles on the market.

The new 124-page catalogue is bigger and better than ever and includes 297-part numbers with 41 new motorcycle applications and three new ones for All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV).There are 3592 applications for motorcycles and 416 for ATVs.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said: “The new publication includes all the information distributors and motorcyclists need to know about our spark plug range.

Motorcyclists love our Iridium IX spark plugs for their ability to provide enhanced ignition efficiency, better acceleration, faster starting and smoother running, longer life, and better fuel consumption. Cardo unveils the all-new PACKTALK generation

Cardo unveils the all-new PACKTALK generation – The PACKTALK EDGE. Greatness. Reborn.

Following extensive research and development, and a complete overhaul of the entire component make-up of the PACKTALK series, Cardo Systems is proud to announce a new generation of the world’s best motorcycle communications system, the all-new PACKTALK EDGE.

Key highlights include:

  • New slim modern design with no external antenna
  • New magnetic Air Mount for effortless and secure attachment of unit to helmet
  • Second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication with faster and easier pairing process and wide-band intercom
  • Most advanced Bluetooth 5.2 Technology with “Live Intercom” support and improved universal connectivity
  • Upgraded Natural Voice engine, enhanced JBL Sound, improved noise-cancelling microphone
  • Additional new features include over-the-air software updates and fast charging via USB-C.

The new small, slimline, antenna-free unit, has been completely redesigned, boasting a whole host of new features as well as benefiting from all the user-favourite attributes of the previous generation, to make the world’s best motorcycle communications device, even better.

In 2015, Cardo Systems launched the world’s first motorcycle communicator to go beyond Bluetooth, with its introduction of Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC). The state-of-the-art technology means the devices function with a self-adjusting network that not only automatically maintains a connection between up to 15 riders, but allows them to seamlessly join, leave and rejoin at a distance of up to eight kilometres (five miles). The PACKTALK EDGE takes this technology one step further and boasts second-generation DMC connectivity with benefits including: an unparalleled deep wideband sound quality, a simpler and faster grouping process in DMC mode, faster pairing in Bluetooth mode, and Live Intercom Bluetooth support.

Helping cement its ‘edge’ over its predecessors, the PACKTALK EDGE has enhanced sound thanks to redesigned JBL speakers and three new sound profiles, attaches to any helmet using a new magnetic cradle for ease of use, and boasts universal fitment and has an improved noise-cancelling microphone. It also houses the most advanced Bluetooth 5.2 chip on the market for universal connectivity. The upgraded Natural Voice Operation engine also means that riders can continue to keep their eyes on the road, hands on the bars and activate their device by simply saying “Hey, Cardo.”

Other features include 13-hours battery life, USB-C and fast charging as standard – a quick 20-minute charge gives users two hours of ride time and 1.5-2 hours offers a full charge.

Over-the-air software updates via the Cardo Connect App, mean that no cables or Wi-Fi adapters are required to ensure the PACKTALK EDGE device is loaded with the latest firmware.

Alon Lumbroso, Chief Executive Officer, Cardo Systems, comments: “The PACKTALK EDGE is the best communication device we have ever developed. With the ultimate audio performance in the industry, a novel Air Mount for rapid and secure attachment, and beautiful sleek, and clean design. The PACKTALK EDGE is a fantastic flagship to our extensive range of communicators. This latest offering is testament to Cardo’s three pillars – quality, purposeful innovation and user-first. Innovation is in our company DNA and we’re proud to translate that into a product for fellow motorcyclists.”

The new PACKTALK EDGE has an MSRP of  $389.95/€389,95 – single and $699.95/€699,95 – duo and will be available from retailers in late April or alternatively, it can be ordered directly from www.cardosystems.com now. The PACKTALK BOLD will continue to be offered alongside the PACKTALK EDGE and available worldwide.

Cardo, Midland, Uclear, and Sygn House team up

Cardo, Midland, Uclear, and Sygn House team up to create an industry standard for integrated helmet communications.

The four companies jointly announce UNIVERSAL COMMUNICATION SOLUTION for industry-wide interoperable helmet communications.

Cardo Systems, Midland, Uclear and Sygn House (owners of the B+Com brand) have today announced an industry-wide solution to integrated helmet communication devices – ‘Universal Communication Solution’.

Much in the same way that the Automakers and car stereo manufacturers adopted universal car stereo sizing and mounts (DIN/Double DIN Standard), the Universal Communication Solution standardizes communication systems size, and shape, allowing for integrated fitment in new motorcycle helmets, meeting the new ECE 22.06 standards.

With this new standard in place, Helmet manufacturers can potentially speed up the process of integrating communications into new 22.06 helmets while offering motorcyclists a variety of communication brands to choose from, all while reducing development costs and time to market.

The Universal Communication Solution will also allow motorcyclists the freedom to choose, change and replace communication devices without compromising on fit and looks.

Speaking on behalf of the industry, Shachar Harari, VP business development at Cardo Systems commented, “This is a significant and important initiative that has seen collaboration between many of the key manufacturers in the helmet and communications industry.

This alliance between the companies will enable the supply of a variety of communication systems that are compatible and designed to be integrated with a variety of motorcycle helmet brands without any need for special mechanical adjustment per helmet model.

We call the helmet manufacturers to join forces with us and design their helmet offerings to adopt the Universal Communication Solution standard.”

While many helmet manufacturers have experienced demand for integrated communication solutions, until now this has been a significant R&D effort for each brand without a widely acceptable standard solution and without the advantage of duplicating this effort to new helmets. With the Universal Communication Solution, consumers will potentially be able to select their preferred brand of device, mounting the chosen unit cradle into a standardized cavity in the rear section of the helmet, linking to integrated speakers and microphone.

Shachar continued, “This approach also gives consumers choice, allowing the rider to use their preferred brand of system and easily transfer between helmets if required. We encourage other brands to join us and adopt the industry-wide Universal Communication Solution”.

Sunra UK endorse BikeTrac Lite

Sunra UK has announced a new collaboration with leading motorcycle and scooter tracking specialists, BikeTrac, endorsing the all-new BikeTrac Lite product for use and fitment on the entire Sunra EV range of models.

Launched last December, BikeTrac Lite offers a fit-and-forget tracking solution for smaller capacity or lower valued machines and like the regular full-feature BikeTrac device, enjoys Thatcham S7 rated security, offering owners greater protection against bike theft.

Announcing the endorsement and collaboration, Sunra UK’s Logan Black, commented, “As the Sunra range of models becomes more popular, we are keen to make sure that our customers have a range of services and products to keep them mobile. While our products do come with an alarm and a physical immobiliser function as standard, locking the rear wheel when unauthorised movement is detected, we’re mindful that bike thieves go to extreme lengths. With BikeTrac we are confident that we have a proven product and partner to offer our customers greater protection.”

As well as offering additional peace of mind to Sunra owners, the BikeTrac collaboration also provides insurance advantages too, with Sunra’s official insurance scheme provider, Lexham, providing up to 10% discount to owners of any model equipped with a BikeTrac unit.

BikeTrac’s Bill Taylor added, “We are delighted to gain endorsement from the Sunra UK team. Our BikeTrac Lite product has been developed for small capacity and lower valued machines, and so to have our product endorsed for EV use with Sunra is ideal. The lower draw rate of our products and the internal battery make it ideal for use on electric bikes and thanks to the small unit size, it can be easily installed in discrete locations on any of the Sunra lineup. We look forward to protecting many Sunra owners in the future.”
