Racer

Holding a handy 16 litres, the Racer is ideal for commuters and day trippers. The shoulder and waist straps are fully adjustable for a snug fit and to help prevent the pack shifting whilst riding. All three straps, and the back of the pack, are padded for comfort when carrying heavy loads. A quick-release buckle makes getting the pack on and off easy and there’s a carry handle too. Inside there are separate compartments to keep contents organised, including an integrated laptop holder, which will hold devices with a screen size of up to 14 inches, and a cable port that enables the wearer to use a music device while on the move. Trooper

Luggage compression straps can be used to lash on extra items (e.g. waterproofs) and the Trooper has an external helmet net as well. Pipe Werx Triumph Tiger 1050 Low-Level Exhaust

Following many requests from owners, Pipe Werx has created a low-level option of its popular ‘Carbon Edge’ street legal exhaust for the Triumph Tiger 1050 (year 2013 onwards) to compliment its existing high-level offering.

Starting at £220 for a single silencer, Carbon Edge is available in Stainless Steel, Powder Black, Carbon, Titanium or Colour Titanium. Though road legal, even the heaviest sleeve finish (Powder Black) of Carbon Edge will be lighter than that of the intended bike’s original silencer and offer further performance gains without the need for altering fuelling. The silencer also features an easily removable baffle for those who want to make a little more noise.

Quick-release Brake Coupling From Venhill

British braking specialists Venhill have developed a quick-release dry coupling for their Powerhose Plus braided brake lines.

Fitting a quick-release coupling allows riders to separate and reconnect a brake line without brake fluid leaking out or air getting in to the system. QR couplings are particularly useful for endurance racing, when callipers and/or master cylinders need to be replaced quickly and easily, without the need to bleed the system.

The male 1/8th BSP thread on the coupling fits directly onto the swivel nuts on Venhill’s Powerhose Plus hydraulic brake and clutch lines. It holds the hydraulic hose together securely with bayonet locking, yet can be separated in seconds by hand, without any tools. Venhill Powerhose Plus lines are available in a wide choice of modular lengths, so replacing original lines with a QR set-up is straightforward.

Akrapovič has launched its latest exhaust for the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 It’s inspired by the race-winning machines of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and it will give the latest generation of R1 the look and sound of a Grand Prix bike.

The Italian brand, established in 1973, has a huge range of motorcycle performance air filter products, in both road and race variants, both giving improvements on filter efficiency against standard items as well as increasing machine performance, even when compared against other notable brands, and is used by the Factory Yamaha MotoGP team, among many others.

BMC filters, ranging from £40 – £350, are constructed with a multi-layered cotton gauze, soaked in low-viscosity oil and covered with an epoxy-coated alloy mesh to ensure protection from petrol fumes and oxidisation due to air humidity. The filter increases machine performance by allowing more air through, but with increased and finer filtration compared to a standard paper item – 7 microns compared to 10 microns. The filter frames are made from a single mould without welded joints, thus avoiding easy breakage over time.

Fitting a BMC filter is also more cost-effective over time for riders, as they do not have to be replaced at service intervals, like standard paper items. The filter can be regenerated with a simple washing and re-oiling procedure, which also reduces waste for the environment.

Three products are offered: Street, Race and Carbon Racing Filters (CRF). The Street and Race items are similar in that they are a direct replacement in terms of fit for a standard filter and increase performance and airflow. Identified by an orange line inside the filtering body, the Race item takes airflow to a higher level for performance track machines where outright filtration isn’t absolute. Starting at £259, the stunning CRF goes a further step with a super-lightweight carbon fibre filter support structure.

New Triple Bubble Screens From Skidmarx

Skidmarx now offer a triple bubble screen to the public. Originally developed in 2008 for use on race bikes at the Isle of Man TT, where riders need a taller screen for enhanced wind protection over a longer distance, until now triple bubbles have only been available for racing.

Based on the British company’s proven double bubble design, the triple bubble inserts an extra tier, that not only increases the height of the screen but also brings it further back. This is an ideal set up for road going sports bike riders who prefer a more upright riding position, particularly those using bar risers, as the triple bubble significantly increases the air pocket behind the screen, reducing the need to ‘tuck in’ for wind protection at high speed.

New Magura HC3 Master Cylinder with Hard Core Technology

Developed for racing and high performance road bikes, the new HC3 Master Cylinder features Magura’s patented Hard Core Technology (HCT), which reduces internal friction and improves brake performance and feel.

Not only can HC3 be used with most hydraulic motorcycle braking systems, it is also compatible with ABS systems: a slotted piston and stationary primary piston seal provide faster pressure balance in the event of ‘ABS kickback’.

The 90° full-radial design, where the push-rod and cylinder sit at a right angle to the handlebar, gives more direct feeling for improved control and feedback. Meanwhile the three-way adjustable lever ratio mimics the effect of using a piston size 1mm below or above the selected hydraulic ratio; simply remove and reposition the lever support bolt for a softer or harder pressure point.

The lever blade folds in the event of an accident, reducing the risk of damage to the master cylinder and increasing the possibility of being able to operate the brake normally after a fall.

Advanced X-Ring technology prevents the introduction of air through secondary seal ingress, which is a common problem on racing motorcycles.

Supplied with an external reservoir and mounting bracket – both clamp and bolts are titanium, for reduced weight – the HC3 it takes up minimum space on the bars. There is a smoked glass window to allow instant checking of fluid level and condition.

The Dakar bags feature a two layer construction, with a tough 1680 Ballistic-Nylon outer and waterproof inner layer, to create a super-durable dry-bag.

Each bag offers 32 litres of storage capacity; roll-top and Velcro closure helps keeps contents dry and secure, and allows quick and easy access. A pre-formed ABS honeycomb panel is fitted to the inside, to help the bag keep its shape and offer additional protection for contents.

New Seat Racks from SW-Motech

Seat Racks are a neat and flexible new way to fit a luggage rack, from the motorcycle engineers at SW-Motech in Germany.

Designed to replace the pillion seat, the Seat Rack uses the same fitting/locking mechanism, so it simply clicks in place to provide instant carrying capacity.

The CNC machined aluminium alloy rack is tough without adding excess weight. It has laser-cut slots for straps to secure luggage and is powder coated for corrosion resistance. Foam rubber seals are fitted to the underside of the rack, to help stop dirt/water from entering the underseat area while it is fitted.

An ingenious way to add extra capacity on adventure and naked bikes, the rack allows loads to be carried closer to the bikes centre of gravity, for better balance when riding trails or over long distances.

The Seat Rack is also a great solution for riders who don’t wish to permanently attach a luggage rack to their machine: when not in use, the rack can be unclipped and replaced with the pillion seat pad.
