Ducati Riding Experience: enrolment open for the 2020 courses

After having concluded a successful 2019 schedule, the world of the Ducati Riding Experience is preparing to face a coming season full of new initiatives and increasingly international projects. Enrolment for the 2020 DRE Enduro, DRE Road and DRE Rookie courses is in fact now open. Professional instructors, unforgettable locations and the opportunity to ride your favourite Ducati – these are the features that distinguish the various Academies, a whole range of unique and exclusive experiences.

The big new entry for the coming season is the DRE Rookie Academy, a new course dedicated to young riders between 18 and 24 years of age who ride reduced-power motorcycles. An avant-garde educational programme aimed at teaching riding techniques in order to increase the skills of the participants and help them to release their full potential as motorcyclists.

One of the most long-standing courses of the Ducati Riding Academy has been confirmed once again this year: DRE Enduro, two days in a beautiful natural context, riding a Multistrada, in order to learn and improve off-road riding techniques.

A new course which began in 2019 and has become a fully-fledged official riding course is DRE Road: a course designed by Ducati for all riders who wish to increase their awareness, improving their levels of safety when riding. Participants can choose a model from the Ducati range and put themselves to the test while learning the safest way to deal with every type of corner and having fun at the same time.

The 2020 schedule is soon to be released also for the DRE Racetrack Academy, the course where education, fun and adrenaline are combined together with the most beautiful and high-performance bikes of the Ducati Panigale range, which will complete the programme of the Ducati Riding Experience for the coming season.

The DRE format has been a success at international level too and in fact the complete range of courses has been carried out in Asia by the DRE Academy APAC, while DRE Enduro has taken place in the USA and Holland for riding fans. Worldwide, over 1400 motorcyclists took part in the Ducati Riding Academy courses during 2019.

In addition to the activities of the Academy, Ducati dedicates a great deal of attention to the field of travelling with its riding experiences: Dream Tour and Adventure Tour. These formats are also becoming ever more international, as can be seen by the new Spiti Valley Dream Tour initiative, which took place between August and September in India, on a route to discover the magnificent peaks of the Himalayas.

Ducati Scrambler at EICMA 2019 with a new version and two original concepts

The 77th edition of EICMA, the International Motorcycle Exhibition, is now in full swing: every year, enthusiasts and operators gather here from all over the world for a preview of trends and models for the new season.

The latest releases, concept bikes, live music and a captivating atmosphere: all available from the Ducati Scrambler Land of Joy in Hall 15, booth N20. The highlights of the “yellow” area are without any doubt the two new concepts designed by the Ducati Scrambler Brand Unit and manufactured by Centro Stile Ducati, presented to world fans for the first time here at EICMA – a testimony to free expression and customisation as the brand core values.

The “Motard” concept is a stylistic evolution of the Ducati Scrambler 800. Inspired by the supermotards of the 1980s, it is a race-style offshoot of the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. It comes with slick tyres with SCR grooves for road use. The front number plate is shaped like the iconic Scrambler headlight. The new brushed sheet metal tank is located under two covers that enhance its teardrop shape.

The other Ducati Scrambler evolution model is called “DesertX” and was inspired by the iconic racing models of the 1990s’ rally raids such as the Paris-Dakar. Its retro-tech, functional style, combined with clean design lines, makes this a timeless, evergreen concept.

The new Ducati Scrambler version is also in the spotlight at EICMA – designed to ideally reflect the essential nature of this iconic motorcycle: two wheels, wide handlebars, a straightforward engine design and lots of fun. Named Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark, it is the entry-level model to the “800” range. Featuring a characteristic “Matt Black” colour tank and mudguards, this model is the perfect starting point for creating personalised vehicles, choosing from the many original accessories available in the Scrambler world.

The Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark joins the Ducati Scrambler Icon and the Full Throttle, Desert Sled and Café Racer versions. The Ducati Scrambler 800 and 1100 ranges will be on display at EICMA 2019 with all models fitted with accessories from the original line and the two “Motard” and “DesertX” concepts.

DMC Group collect Ducati dealer of the year for Europe and Africa

The DMC group has been awarded ‘Ducati dealer of the year for Europe and Africa’ at the recent Ducati global dealer conference in Rimini, Italy. Chris Booth, Managing Director of DMC group was presented with this prestigious award on stage in front of an audience that included 487 dealers and importers from 71 countries.

The accolade was given to Chris Booth by Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali in the presence of Francesco Milicia, Director of Global Sales & After Sales and Tim Maccabee, Managing Director of Ducati UK.

The award was bestowed, due to the dealer’s high scoring on both qualitive and quantitative key performance indicators. DMC was found to have excellent satisfaction ratings from their customers on both sales and service and was commended for their proactivity online through social media and E-commerce. The group was also hailed for its customer engagement through marketing and customer events and the substantial investment the group had contributed to the brand.

The DMC group is made up of four solus Ducati dealerships, Ducati Manchester, Ducati Stoke, Ducati Preston and the recently opened Ducati Worcester.

The business was formed in March 2002 with Ducati Manchester, located in Knutsford and was the first of the ‘Ducati stores’ in the UK. In 2009, Ducati Manchester moved to its current site in Sale and became the World’s first outlet to follow a new store concept. The same year the group also opened DMC Preston followed by Ducati Stoke in 2015. This year they have opened another new store, Ducati Worcester whilst the Preston site is currently relocating to a new 12,000 sq ft showroom with a full refurbishment to bring it up to store status and therefore become Ducati Preston.

Chris Booth, Managing Director, DMC Group
“I was honoured and very proud to receive this award and be recognised by Claudio Domenicali and Francesco Milicia. Ducati has been my life since 2002 and my passion since 1994 when local lad Carl Fogarty rode the 916 to the World title. This award is not about me, but the whole team, our customers, family and friends and of course Ducati UK, who without we would not be where we are today. I am proud that this is the first time this award has come to the UK.”

Tim Maccabee, Managing Director, Ducati UK
“It was a real pleasure to be able to join Chris on the stage at our annual global conference to mark this significant achievement. It is particularly satisfying to see a long-standing Dealer partner developing the business to cover 4 sites with carefully planned investment, plus of course a lot of hard-work and commitment”

Ducati presents a series of exciting new bikes for 2020

Ahead of EICMA 2019, to be held at the Milano-Rho Trade Fair Centre (Fiera) from 7 to 10 November, Ducati has unveiled the greatest and latest bikes and Ebikes for 2020. A complete, updated range, ready to set new standards in style, performance and technology.

The Ducati World Première 2020 was the final act of the Global Dealer Conference, an event bringing together key Ducati dealers – more than a thousand people – representing 71 countries. Streamed worldwide on the internet, the event was held on Wednesday 23 October, on the stage of the Palacongressi di Rimini, and it was Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, who personally unveiled the new 2020 range.

“For the Ducati World Première 2020 we have chosen to remain in the Motor Valley, a territory that unites a series of extraordinary brands – unparalleled in the world – of which we are proud to be a part”, stated Claudio Domenicali as he opened the Ducati World Première 2020. “Today we are unveiling a number of dream bikes, but also three new Ebikes that will complement the Ducati MIG-RR, presented last year. The MIG-RR Limited Edition represents the top of the range and has truly excellent components, such as carbon rims and electronic gearshift, and it can also be customized with the customer’s name and a dedicated suspension setting. The MIG-S has premium equipment but a more affordable price and, finally, there is also a City Bike for the Ducati Scrambler world.
Moving on to motorcycles, there are new colours for the Diavel and Ducati Scrambler, the special Grand Tour version for the Multistrada 1260 S and three absolute novelties. First among these is the Panigale V2, our super-sporty twin powered by the 955 cc Superquadro engine, the middle-weight superbike new both in its aesthetics and its performance.
We also present the new version of the Panigale V4, which for the second year in a row was the most sold sports bike in the world. We have collected and analysed the feedback and data from our passionate customers and the specialized press, and for 2020 we have made the Panigale V4 easier, less tiring to ride and more repeatable in performance even on uneven surfaces. It is faster on the stopwatch, and this improvement is greater the smaller the potential of the rider, therefore higher for an amateur than for a professional rider. The Panigale V4 is a bike that, when ridden by Michele Pirro in fully standard configuration, including the homologated exhaust and apart from the slick tyres, is capable of obtaining a chronometric response of just 3 seconds higher than its own record made on the Vallelunga circuit with the Superbike version of the bike.
Last to take the stage is the long-awaited Streetfighter V4, an extraordinary bike for which we have applied what, at Borgo Panigale, we like to call “The Fight Formula”: we took the Desmosedici Stradale 1,103 cc engine, added the latest-generation electronic package of the Panigale V4, lightened it to obtain a dry weight of 178 kg, added a tall and wide handlebar, removed the fairings and obtained 208 hp of power @ 12,750 rpm.
A high-performance motorcycle with great attention to comfort, thanks to relaxed ergonomics, a well-padded seat and suspension set for road use. A safe bike, like all new-generation Ducatis, thanks to a very complete electronic package that has the first objective of increasing riding ease and safety.”

Following the success of the Ducati MIG-RR, presented at last year’s EICMA, for 2020 Ducati is offering nothing less than a range of Ebikes. The first major development takes the shape of the Ducati MIG-RR Limited Edition, of which just 50 will be made; assembled in Italy, these feature Ohlins suspension, carbon rims, electronic gearbox and are enriched by special Ducati Corse graphics, designed by Aldo Drudi’s D-Perf. Then there’s the Ducati MIG-S, a decidedly sporty All Mountain bike designed for those who want all-terrain agility, performance and fun. Completing the range is a third variant, the E-Scrambler, a ‘Trekking’ version with high-end components; equally at home on city streets or country roads, the E-Scrambler is for those with a taste for freedom – all in inimitable Ducati Scrambler style.

The first motorcycle to take centre-stage was the new Icon Dark, the 800 cc “Land of Joy” entry-level model from the Ducati Scrambler range, together with two concept bike sketches created by the Centro Stile Ducati for EICMA 2019. Next up was the new Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour, a special version of the 1260 S designed for those who want to eat up the miles without giving up on comfort. Following the Multistrada were two Diavel 1260 bikes, sporting new 2020 colour schemes, namely Dark Stealth (available for the standard version) and an all-new Ducati Red with white trims (for the S version), both of which enhance the sportiness and the power-cruiser spirit of this unique bike even further.

The first of the all-new Ducati bikes for 2020 was the Panigale V2. The twin-cylinder Panigale has a completely new look, as well as sophisticated Inertial Platform-based electronics and, thanks also to a comfortable seat and its suspension set-up, it offers better yet safer sports performance while making road riding more enjoyable and user-friendly than ever. It is powered by a 955 cm³ Superquadro engine with a maximum power of 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 Nm at 9,000 rpm (Euro 5 compliant).
Built around the monocoque frame, the chassis set-up is embraced by a new, sports-style design. The extensive fairing hugs the mechanics, highlighting the compactness of the Superquadro twin-cylinder engine to create a bike that is visually compact.

Other key Panigale V2 features include the single-sided swingarm and an exhaust with extremely compact under-engine silencer and single-side tail pipe. The clean lines typical of Ducati superbikes are enhanced by the traditional Ducati Red livery and black wheels.

Another major EICMA 2019 preview took the form of the Panigale V4. A series of refinements for 2020 make for a more user-friendly, less fatiguing ride while simultaneously making the bike faster not just on individual laps but over entire timed sessions.

Ducati and Ducati Corse engineers have crunched the feedback/data numbers from customers all over the world and Superbike World Championship events. Their analysis has led to a series of aerodynamic, chassis, electronic control and Ride by Wire mapping changes: designed to increase stability and turn-in speed, these changes make it easier to close corners and ensure riders enjoy more confident throttle control.

The Panigale V4 is now equipped with content taken from the V4 R, starting with the aero pack (aerofoils, Plexiglas screen, nose fairing and larger lateral fairings, more efficient side vents for radiator through-air). This provides better airflow protection and improves overall vehicle stability, enhancing confidence. Completing the update is the Front Frame, with modified stiffness to give better front-end ‘feel’ at extreme lean angles. Thanks to a new ‘predictive’ control strategy, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2 significantly improves out-of-the-corner power control; Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2, instead, shortens up-shift times, allowing sportier high-rev gear shifts (over 10,000 rpm) and boosting shift stability during aggressive acceleration and cornering. The bike also features specially-developed Ride by Wire system mappings with several different torque delivery control logics. Powering the Panigale V4 is the 1,103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale: a MotoGP-derived 90° V4 with Desmodromic timing, a one-of-a-kind engine with a counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order. The engine can deliver 214 hp at 13,000 rpm and a torque of 12.6 Kgm at 10,000 rpm, making for extremely satisfying road riding.

Another ‘star’ of the Ducati World Première 2020 was the new Streetfighter V4, the super-naked long awaited by enthusiasts worldwide and a prime candidate for the title of “best looking bike of EICMA 2019”.

The foundation of the Steetfighter V4 is a Panigale V4 stripped of its fairings and equipped with high, wide handlebars. Weighing 178 kg, it is powered by a 1103 cc Desmosedici Stradale engine, its 208 hp kept under control by biplane aerofoils and a latest-generation electronics package: a combination of factors and modifications that Ducati calls the “Fight Formula”. The result is an over-the-top naked Ducati, modern and technological, with an assertively eye-catching design. A bike that does nothing to hide its segment-leading performance, but which also ensures practicality and full-on fun during everyday rides.
The minimalist full-LED headlight with its V-shaped DRL captures the spirit of the Streetfighter V4 perfectly. On the one hand, it recalls the front of the Panigale V4 and, on the other, evokes the crazy grin of the Joker (the comic strip character from which the Ducati Style Center drew inspiration for this new Bologna-built naked).

On the Streetfighter V4, the Front Frame and Desmosedici Stradale engine take centre-stage. Only partially screened by superstructures that have been cut to a bare minimum, their sharp lines create a clean, essential whole.

Such powerful design demands a powerful engine, and the 1103 cc 208 hp Desmosedici Stradale fits the bill: for a naked, it packs an impressive punch, yet dedicated engine mapping lets the rider control the power with confidence. The engine – combined with a kerb weight of 178 kg (“S” version) – boosts the power/weight ratio to an impressive 1.17. Performance can be further improved by mounting the full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovič, which raises power to 220 hp and reduces weight by 6 kg.
The feisty performance of this bike is stabilised by sophisticated electronics lifted directly from the Panigale V4 and the ‘biplane’ aerofoils developed by Ducati Corse aerodynamicists. Brought forward to maximise their effect, the aerofoils generate 28 kg of downforce at 270 kph, attenuating front wheel ‘floating’ at high speed and the tendency to wheel-up. They also boost stability during braking at the turn-in point and through the corner. On the road, this dynamic behaviour instils confidence. On the track, instead, it boosts performance by limiting electronic control intervention and allowing delayed braking.

The latest-generation electronics package on the Streetfighter V4 is based on a 6-axis inertial measurement platform which instantly detects the bike’s roll, yaw and pitch angles. The electronics oversee every part of the ride: some controls manage start, acceleration and braking, others handle traction, while some lend a helping hand on corners and out-of-the-corner stretches. Safety, performance, and bags of personality: the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 has arrived!

With dream bikes set to thrill thousands of visitors and accessories and apparel oozing style and originality, Ducati is all set to welcome the public to the 77th edition of EICMA (Fiera Milano-Rho, 7/10 November 2019 – Hall 15 Stand N06), confirming the unique role this iconic brand plays on the international motorcycling scene.

Ducati Multistrada hits the 100,000 mark

Sixteen years after the first Multistrada rolled off the assembly line, the family has now reached the 100,000-bike milestone. Multistrada number 100,000, a Pikes Peak version of the 1260 with a customised laser marking on the top yoke, was handed over to Dave Hayward – a German Ducatista who had ordered his Multistrada from the Düsseldorf dealership – by none other than Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali in person.

Ducati’s dual-purpose motorcycle has always been technologically cutting-edge. In 2010 the Multistrada was the first bike to feature riding modes, the system that changes the very character of the bike. Indeed, the tagline for the advertising campaign read: “four bikes in one”. With the D|Air version, introduced in 2014, Ducati offered the first motorcycle with a system capable of interfacing with a dedicated airbag-equipped jacket. In 2015 it became the first motorcycle to feature a variable-timing engine: the Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing).

And as the technology evolved, so too did the reliability. Ever-longer, stricter development tests were applied. Production processes were improved, materials enhanced, numerical simulations honed, taking the Multistrada 1260 and 950 to unprecedented levels of dependability. Today, all the engines in the family have valve play checks at 30,000 km intervals – three times that of the first version.

With no less than 7 versions, today’s Multistrada family has never been more complete: two 950 cm³ (113 hp) bikes and five 1260 cm³ (158 hp) ones.

Presented in 2019, the new Multistrada 950 – also available as an S version – is designed to put Multistrada performance within everyone’s reach while maximising versatility, thanks also to the 19″ front wheel.

The most recent interpretation of the original dual-purpose sports concept, the Multistrada 1260 combines the comfort and load capacity of a dual-purpose bike with tyre sizes, wheels and brakes that are, instead, typical of sports motorcycles. Equipped with Öhlins suspension, forged wheels and a carbon fibre end pipe, the Pikes Peak model offers maximum sports performance.

For those, instead, who love adventuring, Ducati has come up with the Multistrada 1260 Enduro, designed to take on the toughest terrain and longest journeys thanks to the 30-litre tank, long-travel suspension, 19″ front rim and, of course, the hard-wearing spoked wheels.

Development is ongoing, and in 2021 the Multistrada family will expand to see the twin cylinder 1260 and 950 motorcycles joined by a version with a new, specific V4 engine.

Monster 1200 S becomes “Black on Black”

Ducati looks to 2020 with the presentation of a new colour scheme for the Monster 1200 S. For this coming season, in fact, the most iconic naked will feature a “Black on Black” livery with alternating gloss black and matt black parts. The Monster 1200 S will also remain available in traditional Ducati Red.

This all-new colour scheme combines two classic Monster hallmarks: sport performance – accentuated by the flash of red on the rims – and sheer style, as brought out by the black. First launched in 1993, the Monster has defined the Sport Naked segment ever since. Today’s version continues to express the very essence of this category to maximum effect.

The Monster 1200 is equipped with an up-to-the-minute Testastretta 11° DS engine, capable of delivering 147 hp at 9,250 rpm and a full yet linear torque curve; that power is safely handled at all times by the Ride by Wire system and inertial platform, which provide ABS Cornering, Traction Control and Wheelie Control functions.

The exclusive S version sharpens that Monster sports performance to an even finer edge thanks to a 48 mm Öhlins fork and rear Öhlins monoshock, both fully adjustable. Awesome braking is provided by two 330 mm Brembo discs at the front working in concert with Brembo M50 monobloc calipers. The Monster 1200 S also features wheels with three Y-spokes, a carbon fibre front mudguard, a headlight characterised by the DRL (Daytime Running Light) and LED indicators. Completing the as-standard equipment is the up & down quickshifter.

The Monster 1200 S with the new “Black on Black” livery will be available at Ducati dealers from the end of September with an SRP of £15,095.

Massimo Tamburini’s 916 at the Ducati Museum

As part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Ducati 916’s production launch Ducati Museum now features a new, incredible piece of its history: Massimo Tamburini’s 916. An authentic masterpiece “owned” by the legendary designer.
This exhibition, made possible by the precious collaboration of the Ducati Museum with Simona Tamburini, Massimo’s daughter and the owner of the motorcycle, allows to reveal some secrets behind a legendary bike. The 916 on display is one of the three prototypes from which Tamburini developed the bike until its industrialisation in 1994.
Massimo Tamburini, who had already developed the Paso 750 for Ducati, with the 916 developed a bike that was a real revolution in the motorcycle world. The 916’s aerodynamics and chassis were developed exclusively on the roads of Rimini and at the Misano and Mugello circuits. For six, long years Tamburini meticulously studied every detail, without ever using the wind tunnel.
The bike in the museum features details that are more similar to those of the 916 SP series, the highest performing model of the 916 series. The bike is almost completely made of fibreglass, while the air conveyors, front mudguard, airbox, tailpipes and number plate holder are made of carbon fibre. Moreover, the bike is embellished with racing components like the five-spoke magnesium rims and the lightened single-sided swinging arm. Worthy of note is the absence of turn indicators and an odometer: the only instrumentation is a tachometer and a water temperature indicator.
The bike is on display at the Ducati Museum until 15 January 2020.

Panigale V4 25°Anniversario 916: the Ducati tribute to the bike that changed Superbike history

  • Ducati presents a special limited-edition bike – just 500 will be built – that is destined for nothing less that cult status
  • Special anniversary proceedings headed by none other than “King” Carl Fogarty himself during SBK race weekend in the USA
  • Bike number 5 is to be auctioned, with proceeds going to a fund raising effort in memory of Carlin Dunne
  • Team Aruba.it Racing – Ducati riders to compete at Laguna Seca on bikes with a livery inspired by the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916

In 2019 a quarter of a century will have elapsed since the Ducati 916 arrived on the global stage, forever changing the Superbike world. Born from Massimo Tamburini’s sketches, this bike has revolutionised the world of motorcycle design and has made fans fall in love all over the planet. Incredibly innovative in its style, elegance, lightweight and compactness, by many it’s believed to be the sexiest and most iconic bike ever built.
The Ducati 916 wasn’t just a beautiful bike and an enormous sales success. It also won World Superbike championships: the 916 SBK was a force to be reckoned with even as it made its debut in 1994, and the following years saw it win 120 races, 8 constructors’ titles and 6 riders’ titles, four of them with Carl Fogarty. The Englishman has won 55 races with Ducati, of which 43 riding a Ducati 916 SBK and 996 SBK. “King Carl” and the 916 remain the most successful “couple” in Ducati SBK history.
Ducati has decided to celebrate this anniversary by building a special 916-dedicated version of the Panigale V4. Hence the genesis of the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916: a unique limited-edition bike of only 500 pieces, designed to let all true Ducatisti re-live the spirit of the 916.
The “25° Anniversario 916” is built on the mechanics of the Panigale V4 S. This has been upgraded with racing content from the Panigale V4 R such as the Front Frame, designed to Ducati Corse specifications. The look of the bike combines a special livery with forged magnesium wheels, a titanium type-approved Akrapovič exhaust and a long list of Ducati Performance components.
(Press Kit with all detailed information about the bike is attached to the Press Release).
For its world-first preview, Ducati chose round nine of the Superbike World Championship, taking place this weekend at Laguna Seca (California, USA). Here, Francesco Milicia (VP Global Sales & After Sales Director Ducati Motor Holding), Jason Chinnock (CEO Ducati North America) and Carl Fogarty unveiled the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916.
The presentation of the bike was also an occasion of remembrance, honouring Californian Carlin Dunne, the Spider Grips Ducati team rider who recently died at Pikes Peak. Jason Chinnock announced Ducati’s decision to remove the number 5 from selling, the same number that Dunne used to race with. The bike will be auctioned, with proceeds going to a fund-raising effort aimed at providing Carlin’s mother with support.
“In all of modern motorcycling history, no bike has been as era-defining as the 916, both in terms of design and performance. I’m incredibly proud to present this exclusive version of our Panigale V4, itself a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the 916.” stated Francesco Milicia during the event at Pebble Beach.  “We’ve decided to present the bike together with none other than “King” Carl Fogarty himself. Presenting it on the American Superbike stage underscores our dedication to the US market, where bike enthusiasts and collectors alike will, I am sure, appreciate the uniqueness of the Panigale V4 25° Anniversary 916.”
“I’m thrilled to be here at this event,” stated Carl Fogarty after riding the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 onto the stage at Pebble Beach. “The Ducati 916 gave me some fantastic, unforgettable moments. It played a starring role in my career and in the history of the World Superbike Championship. On the wider motorcycling scene, it set a whole new standard of style and performance. I’m proud to have played a pivotal role in that success story, and equally proud to be here today and celebrate this important anniversary by officially unveiling this breath-taking bike.”

It’s twenty-five years since the Ducati 916 made its first appearance. A bike destined to transform the world of motorcycle design and to make fans all over the world fall in love. Ducati inaugurates the temporary “Anatomy of Speed” exhibition

Ducati has inaugurated the “Anatomy of Speed” exhibition – the third temporary show organised and hosted by the Ducati Museum – which will continue until 8 October 2019.

The exhibition illustrates how aerodynamics plays a key role in achieving the performance that is the hallmark of Ducati excellence. Firstly, visitors will be introduced to aerodynamics as Ducati sees it. The exhibition then examines the research programs and solutions developed over years of intense involvement in racing.

Aerodynamic history is brought to life by photos, videos, display panels and projections that provide the backdrop to – and interact with – an exclusive exhibition of two fairings used by Ducati in the 2016 and 2017 MotoGP championships and of the Ducati Desmosedici GP16.

“Anatomy of Speed” has been organised with the support and technical know-how of Ducati Corse. The opening event was attended by Team Mission Winnow Ducati MotoGP riders Andrea Dovizioso, Danilo Petrucci and Michele Pirro who cut the ribbon together with Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati, and Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse, Edoardo Lenoci, Aerodynamic Development Manager and Alessandro Valia, Ducati Official Test Rider.

“I’m extremely proud to inaugurate this third temporary exhibition at the Ducati Museum: indeed, aerodynamics makes bikes magic. This exhibition also aims to involve Ducati enthusiasts in that transfer of knowledge from racing to product that has always been a part of our DNA” stated Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO. “Our commitment aims to ensure Ducati riders benefit from ever-better technology, performance, fun and safety; aerodynamics play an increasingly important role in this philosophy, which is exemplified by the Panigale V4 R.”

“Aerodynamics is undoubtedly an area in which Ducati Corse leads the way with respect to other manufacturers”, stated Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse. “It’s one of our top-priority fields of development, the goal being to achieve ever-better results in the future.”

A major contribution to the organisation of the exhibition also came from our MotoGP friends and technological partners: Lenovo, NetApp, UnipolSai, Riello, Brembo, Cima and VarGroup.

The temporary “Anatomy of Speed” exhibition opens to the public on 30 May 2019 and can be visited, at the Ducati Museum entrance price, until Tuesday 8 October 2019.

For further information on Museum prices and opening times please go to the dedicated page of the website.

The new Diavel 1260 receives the prestigious “Red Dot Design Award 2019” for its unmistakeable style

The new Diavel 1260 has won one of the most prestigious international awards for design, the “Red Dot Award: Best of the Best” in the Product Design category.

Each year since 1955, the “Red Dot Design Award” has been assigned to the most original and worthy entries in terms of design and innovation. After evaluating over 5,500 products, a highly qualified jury made up of 40 international famous experts has assigned the new Diavel 1260 with the prestigious title “Red Dot Award 2019: Best of the Best”.

This is the third winner for the Bologna-based company, following the previous awards won by two such iconic motorcycles as the 1199 Panigale in 2013 and the XDiavel S in 2016, showing how a Ducati bike can be an icon of style, innovation and performance.

Powerful and muscular, the new Diavel 1260 combines the performance of a maxi-naked with the ergonomics of a muscle cruiser. Its sophisticated design reinterprets the Diavel style in a contemporary key, and integrates a Testastretta DVT 1262 engine with 159 hp, the bike’s real pulsing heart.

“It’s never easy to win such important and sought-after recognition as the Red Dot Award. Succeeding for the third time thanks to another iconic bike like the Diavel 1260 is a tribute to the creativity and innovation of Ducati, which fills us with pride,” commented Andrea Ferraresi, Ducati Style Centre Manager. “Even though we are aware that our motorcycles are exciting, refined and good-looking, it is always gratifying and stimulating for those who work in the field of design and style to receive such important recognition. A huge number of entries from major protagonists of design throughout the world competed for the award. Now we look forward to the same level of enthusiasm from our fans; the bikes are in fact already available through Ducati dealers.”

The climax for this award is at the Red Dot Award gala ceremony, which took place on July 8th at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany, with an audience of 1200 invitees made up of the most notable representatives of international design.

The 2019 Red Dot Design Awards ceremony is part of a busy calendar – the coming months are in fact full of events dedicated to design and to the new Diavel 1260.

Great new courses and experiences from Ducati Riding Academy

Enrolment has reopened at the Ducati Riding Academy. Providing courses and experiences since 2003, the Academy has let more than 10,000 motorcyclists from all over the world hone their riding skills on a Ducati.

The big change for the 2019 season is DRE Road Academy, the new DRE course designed to let everyone take control on a built-in-Bologna Ducati. Designed for novices and expert riders alike, the courses – held at the Modena racetrack – give participants the chance to put the new models in the Ducati range through their paces while ensuring they take their riding skills to the next level.

DRE Racetrack, instead, offers a steep learning curve plus plenty of fun and excitement, not to mention the most beautiful, highest-performing bikes in the Ducati Superbike range. There are four courses, sub-divided according to participants’ abilities and requirements: they range from Track Warm Up – for those who have never ridden on a track yet are eager to take the so-called “baptism of speed” – to the Champs Academy. In between lie Track Evo and Track Master, courses which let those who already have a certain experience improve ride technique and lap times even further.

DRE Enduro Academy is a valuable experience for those who like to ride off the beaten track. Sat astride the new Multistrada 1260 Enduro and Multistrada 950, participants will learn a swath of off-road techniques and tricks, all under controlled conditions and supervised by expert, qualified instructors.
