A refreshed fourth edition of Ducati Scrambler Days of Joy begins

The Days of Joy are back for a fourth edition, offering a series of events – riding courses, outdoor activities and pure relaxation – just perfect for those looking to explore the Ducati Scrambler world. New for 2019, the Scrambler Experiences in Romagna and Tuscany offer two fascinating tours, genuine cuisine from the Italian Apennines and limitless fun.

Participants in the Romagna Scrambler Experience will start off from Cesenatico on Saturday 6 April. This one-day tour over paved and dirt roads gives riders a great opportunity to appreciate the new Scrambler range. A mid-day checkpoint in the midst of the Tuscany-Romagna Apennines offers up the chance to taste the local cuisine in relaxed Land of Joy style, while the day will end with an awesome beach BBQ at Cesenatico.

The Tuscany Scrambler Experience, instead, scheduled for the weekend of 6 – 7 July, takes participants on a two-day ride over the hills around Siena. This all-round on and off-road experience takes in over 200 km on the first day and more than 150 km on the second. It’s pure riding pleasure, ridden over a route that takes in the Fattoria Pieve in Salti (Siena) where riders can enjoy genuine local food and the relaxed atmosphere that is the hallmark of every Land of Joy event. This experience has been put together in collaboration with the organising committee of the Eroica® classical bicycle race and takes in many of the same stunning roads.

Offering a rewarding mix of fun and learning, the riding courses held at Vairano Country House, in the Pavia countryside not far from Milan, will take place on 2 June and 8 SeptemberFlat Track School participants will learn how to drift around oval dirt tracks safely. Off Road School participants will learn how to handle Off Road Tracks on the Desert Sled. Scrambler Basic Riding School, instead, is for all aspiring motorcyclists looking to learn how to ride properly before they get their license.

Days of Joy, though, also means countryside fun and relaxation. In other words, an all-American outdoor BBQ, a chill-out area with music, loungers and beach umbrellas, a pool table, the opportunity to try out the entire Ducati Scrambler range and a not-to-be-missed Cooking Class where a famous chef will teach participants how to barbecue like a pro.

Tour coordination and all riding courses are managed by instructors from Due Ruote.

Another new aspect of Days of Joy 2019 is that Pirelli will be taking part in the events, highlighting how the successful partnership between these two Italian excellences goes far beyond mere technical collaboration.

All participants will receive a welcome kit with a Ducati Scrambler-branded gadget.

Great new courses and experiences from Ducati Riding Academy

Enrolment has reopened at the Ducati Riding Academy. Providing courses and experiences since 2003, the Academy has let more than 10,000 motorcyclists from all over the world hone their riding skills on a Ducati.

The big change for the 2019 season is DRE Road Academy, the new DRE course designed to let everyone take control on a built-in-Bologna Ducati. Designed for novices and expert riders alike, the courses – held at the Modena racetrack – give participants the chance to put the new models in the Ducati range through their paces while ensuring they take their riding skills to the next level.

DRE Racetrack, instead, offers a steep learning curve plus plenty of fun and excitement, not to mention the most beautiful, highest-performing bikes in the Ducati Superbike range. There are four courses, sub-divided according to participants’ abilities and requirements: they range from Track Warm Up – for those who have never ridden on a track yet are eager to take the so-called “baptism of speed” – to the Champs Academy. In between lie Track Evo and Track Master, courses which let those who already have a certain experience improve ride technique and lap times even further.

DRE Enduro Academy is a valuable experience for those who like to ride off the beaten track. Sat astride the new Multistrada 1260 Enduro and Multistrada 950, participants will learn a swath of off-road techniques and tricks, all under controlled conditions and supervised by expert, qualified instructors.

DRE Travel experiences have also been revamped. Routes and activities have now been upgraded, thanks also to a fresh partnership with world-renowned tour operator Boscolo. The Dream Tour is an electrifying 5-day ride on your favourite Ducati through the stunning switchbacks and hills of the Tuscany-Emilia Apennines. The Adventure Tour is pure enthusiasm and enjoyment, a unique 4-day fun-filled ride experience in the midst of nature on the new Multistrada 1260 Enduro and Multistrada 950.

For further information on the Ducati Riding Academy courses, calendar and enrolment please visit dre.ducati.it. All Travel experiences by Boscolo are illustrated in the dedicated section of the Ducati website, where they can also be booked.

Radio Ducati Scrambler is changing and becoming more of a real radio station.

A new schedule of programmes is being launched by Web Radio Ducati Scrambler to coincide with World Radio Day on 13 February – a day in which dialogue, tolerance and sharing through the radio is celebrated all over the world.

The programmes, in English, focus on five original themes with a series of exclusive contents that will talk of the world of Ducati Scrambler through the eyes of bikers who are also writers, travellers and musicians.

‘From zero to hero’, a travel blog with Riccardo Felici, ‘Scrambler Eggs’ stories about music from Nero and Memphis, ‘Don’t call me Cinderella’, the female point of view by Valentina RocketQueen and Federica Moschiano, ‘Writers’ by Elena Mearini and ‘Scrambler Snacks’ with news, suggestions and in-depth features about the Land of Joy.

Consolidating the fact that Radio Ducati Scrambler is truly connected to its community, plenty of space is reserved for listeners to tell of their passions and experiences, and there will also be items featuring sports champions and lesser-known heroes of the motorcycle world.

Radio Ducati Scrambler interacts with and comes alive on the social networks and soon also on a new, fun and intuitive app. The radio is represented by a new logo too, with two pistons in the shape of microphones and a payoff that recalls the vitality of every Scrambler: ‘our rumbling sounds’.

The new programmes will be in addition to the current rich schedule of music which is available via web streaming 24 hours a day, seven days a week, directly from the website.

Ducati strengthens global sales in 2018 and takes the lead in the superbike segment

Ducati Motor Holding closed 2018 with no less than 53,004 motorcycles delivered to customers worldwide. That means the 50,000-bike threshold, first reached by Ducati in 2015, has now been achieved four years running.

A significant contribution to this result came from the success of the Panigale family, which accounted for the sale of 9,700 bikes (70% increase on 2017), making Ducati, for the very first time, the leader of the superbike segment with a market share of over 26%. In 2018 one superbike out of every four sold worldwide was a Ducati Panigale.
The undisputed flagship of the Panigale family is the V4, the first production Ducati motorcycle which mounts a four-cylinder engine. In just twelve months it has set a new standard for style, technology and performance, with over 6,100 motorcycles delivered across the globe.

Equally successful was the Multistrada family, that in 2018 scored 11,829 motorcycles sold. The family saw the addition of the new Multistrada 1260, thanks to which sales soared by 25% (compared to 2017), with no less than 6,569 bikes sold.

Compared to data sales in 2017 (55,871 bikes), Ducati experienced a slight drop of 5% against the backdrop of an over 500 cc motorcycle market that shrank by some 3%. Yet thanks to the Panigale and Multistrada families, last year saw the Bologna-based bike manufacturer reinforce its position on the high-end market.

“While 2018 was challenging for the big motorcycles market, with slowdowns in important countries like the US, Ducati had, by the end of the year, delivered over 53,000 bikes to customers worldwide, consolidating the growth achieved in recent years”, stated Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding. “In 2018 we achieved stability and the year was positive both in terms of business and racing. We won numerous MotoGP races and developed an exceptional bike. In short, the solidity of the company remains undisputed, as does our penchant for driving ahead with innovation and product development so we can, over the coming years, continue offering customers new icons of style and technology.”

“To rise to new market challenges”, adds Francesco Milicia, Global Sales Director, “we’re working to make our sales network more efficient than ever. For 2019 we’ve also overhauled the Scrambler 800 range – which, among other things, has received a major active safety boost in the form of cornering ABS – and launched new products such as the Diavel 1260 and Hypermotard 950. The Multistrada family saw the arrival of the 1260 Enduro and 950 S, giving customers a wider choice than ever. Lastly, we’ve introduced the V4 R, the most powerful, highest-tech superbike ever built by Ducati to provide a foundation for renewed competitiveness in the WorldSBK championship. Needless to say, its already proved to be a big hit with Ducatisti. In total, we’re talking about nine new models that allow us to look to the future with confidence.”

In Italy growth proved to be solid, (+4.5%) reaching 9,200 bikes and making the country go back to being Ducati’s largest market.

Spain also performed strongly with 2,444 motorcycles sold (+8%), with further growth observed in Japan with 1,941 bikes (+2%) and Switzerland with 1,276 bikes (+2.2%).

Bike deliveries in the USA – historically Ducati’s number one market – totalled 7,843, the drop in sales reflecting a 9% downturn across the US sector of motorcycles over 500 cc.

On Asian markets Ducati continues to ride the upward trend, especially in China (+29%) where a new direct branch has been established and the sales network has expanded from 19 to 23 dealerships.

Production of the Diavel 1260 begins in Bologna

The Borgo Panigale plant has begun producing the new Diavel 1260. The first bike rolled off the line on Monday 21 January and, as is the tradition, was greeted by the entire factory with a toast and an official speech by CEO Claudio Domenicali and Production Manager Silvano Fini.

The success of the new power cruiser, begun with its official debut at EICMA 2018, underscores the high levels of interest and expectation this bike is generating among enthusiasts all over the world, Ducatisti and non. Unconventional, unique, unmistakeable: as soon as it was launched at EICMA 2010, the Diavel stunned with its personality, design and sport naked handling.

The Diavel 1260 – the second generation of this unique bike – has more assertive lines and higher performance, is more fun on mixed-road routes and even more comfortable for rider and passenger alike. Its sport naked soul is magnified by a Testastretta DVT 1262 engine that combines breath-taking acceleration with the smooth low-rev power delivery that’s ideal for everyday rides or longer-lasting tours. An upgraded chassis set-up makes the Diavel 1260 surprisingly agile while top-drawer technology and electronics provide braking performance on a par with that of a superbike (and does so safely, thanks to Bosch Cornering ABS) and user-friendly engine performance control. Comfort levels for rider and passenger remain outstanding thanks to an upright riding position, a large, generously padded seat and another Diavel hallmark, the 17″ inch rear wheel with its 240 mm wide tyre.

The Diavel 1260 is also available as a sportier S version featuring first-rate Öhlins suspension, dedicated wheels, an even higher-performing braking system and Ducati Quick Shift up & down Evo as standard.

As of mid-February the bike will be in Ducati dealerships, ready to play a pivotal role in the 2019 motorcycling season. The Diavel 1260 is available in Sandstone Grey, while the Diavel 1260 S goes on sale in Sandstone Grey or Thrilling Black & Dark Stealth.

Second Ducati-Locman watch collection presented at Pitti Immagine

Like last year, Ducati and Locman – the watch-maker based on the Island of Elba (Tuscany, Italy) – will be together at Pitti Immagine to present the latest line of unique, high-tech sports watches for those with a passion for Italian flair and motorcycles.

For the launch of this second series the two Italian companies’ style centres have teamed up to create watches that embody their hallmarks: competitive spirit, cutting-edge technology and a passion for design.

The latest Locman Ducati collection consists of four models, each with a different mechanism, with prices ranging from €299 to €598: the quartz Solo Tempo (Time Only), the quartz twin-gauge Chronograph (with 24-hour time and chrono minutes), the three-gauge Chronograph (with continuous watch seconds, chrono hours and chrono minutes) and the Meccanico Automatico Solo Tempo (Mechanical Self-Winding Time Only).

All models feature a circular design, giving the watch dynamism and lightness. The case, which has a diameter of 42 mm, is made of brushed 316L surgical stainless steel with polished bezel and pushbuttons. The screw-down crown features the Ducati shield and has a dual internal silicone seal to improve waterproofing.

The face, surrounded by a rehault marking out the minutes, takes its cue from Ducati instrumentation and the racing world, the coloured band highlighting the first 15 minutes. Straps are available in soft hypoallergenic silicone or natural padded leather with high-contrast stitching.

In short: a collection characterised by outstanding technological content that is immediately available in Italy and Japan, in Locman boutiques, in all the best jewellery stores, in selected Ducati Stores and internationally through www.locman.it.

Ducati presents car to bike communication technology at CES in Las Vegas

Ducati continues its safety-focused research by taking part – together with Audi and Ford – in the first U.S. demonstration of a communication system that interlinks vehicles, street infrastructure and pedestrians.

This test follows the one completed in Germany last July. The latter saw the ConVeX (Connected Vehicle to Everything) project – a key part of Ducati’s “Safety Road Map 2025” strategy which aims to develop new safety systems and technologies – showcased in Europe for the very first time. The initial stages of this strategy will see ABS Cornering extended to the entire Ducati range and the market launch, in 2020, of a bike with front and rear radar.

Ducati, Audi AG, Ford Motor Company and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, announced the companies’ continued joint efforts to help accelerate commercial deployment for C-V2X direct communication technology for roadside safety, traffic efficiency and automated driving. As a part of the Consumer Electronic Show 2019, a Ducati Multistrada 1260 as well as Audi and Ford vehicles, demonstrate driving situations utilizing C-V2X direct communications. All vehicles were equipped with C-V2X technology utilizing the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset to demonstrate a cooperative intersection use case, exhibiting how C-V2X can be used between vehicles to negotiate the right of way in entering a four-way, non-signalized intersection where intention sharing and non-line-of-sight conditions make the use of a wireless sensor such as C-V2X ideal.

The companies also exhibited additional Vehicle-to-Vehicle, Vehicle-to-Pedestrian and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure safety scenarios, demonstrating the maturity and potential of C-V2X technology. The V2V use case featured the Intersection Movement Assist scenario, which is a key countermeasure to address angle collisions at intersections, while the V2P scenario exhibited how C-V2X can be used to protect vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and bicyclists. The V2I use case featured the Work Zone Warning scenario, which is designed to provide drivers advanced warning of road construction ahead allowing them to maneuver in a safe manner.

The Las Vegas demonstrations follow the successful showings of C-V2X trial validations and interoperability conducted throughout 2018 in Europe, Japan, Australia, China and the United States, as well as the first live C-V2X interoperability demonstration between a motorcycle, vehicles and roadside infrastructure, which was hosted by several leading automotive and technology companies, including Ducati and Qualcomm Technologies.

Ducati, Audi and Ford are amongst several global automakers who have closely evaluated C-V2X technology for its reliability, high-performance capabilities and readiness through rigorous testing. Currently, C-V2X is the only V2X alternative that provides a clear evolution path to 5G, in a backward compatible manner, and is designed to deliver reliable and consistent performance in realistic driving scenarios. While complementing other Advanced Driver Assistance System sensors, such as radar, lidar, and camera systems, C-V2X direct communications supports an ever-expanding set of safety use cases, as well as enhanced situational awareness by detecting and directly exchanging vital information. Additionally, C-V2X is designed with a focus on security, benefitting from established security transport layers and application protocols defined by the automotive standards communities, including ISO, ETSI and IEEE 1609. Because C-V2X can be easily integrated into all wireless modems to offer direct and network communications, its implementation is cost-effective, which is especially important as the automotive industry continues to move towards adding wireless connectivity in all vehicles.

The demonstration by Ducati, Audi, Ford and Qualcomm Technologies will be conducted live in Las Vegas by appointment and will also be livestreamed at Qualcomm Technologies’ automotive booth in the North Hall (booth No. 5609), and in the Central Hall throughout the show. The demonstration will also be shown in the Audi and Ford booths.

Last 1299 Panigale R Final Editions Being Delivered To Ducati Stores

The last chance to own a piece of motorcycling history. The very last exclusive 1299 Panigale R Final Editions are, in fact, now being delivered to Ducati Stores. The Final Edition is a truly special bike that pays homage to an engine that has made Ducati history and written some of the most thrilling chapters of the World Superbike Championship. That’s why only 1,299 such bikes (a limited, numbered edition) have been built. Every bike is delivered with a certificate of authenticity that makes this exclusive Superbike – a milestone among the Bologna-built twin-cylinders – even more valuable.

This gem offers unparalleled technology, performance and design. Each 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is a Euro 4 compliant road bike. An offshoot of the 1299 Superleggera engine, the Final Edition Superquadro packs a 209 hp* punch at 11,000 rpm and a torque of 14.5 kgm at 9,000 rpm. It features a lighter crankshaft with a larger crank pin and tungsten balancing pads, while the con-rods, like the intake-exhaust valves, are made of titanium. As on Superbike engines, the two 116 mm diameter pistons have just two segments and slide on steel cylinder liners.

Co-developed with Ducati Corse, the ultra-compact monocoque structure incorporates the airbox and plays a pivotal role in limiting the dry weight of the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition to just 179 kg. The chassis set-up features mechanical Öhlins suspension and a headstock rake of 24°.

Equally sophisticated and light is the complete all-titanium Akrapovič exhaust with high dual silencer (Euro 4 compliant), exactly like the one on the Panigale R that has just ended its participation in the World Superbike championship.

The electronics package features the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and is equipped with ABS Cornering, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO and Engine Brake Control (EBC). These systems have default settings linked to the selected Riding Mode (Race, Sport and Wet) but can be personalised as desired.

Top-drawer tech content and the tricolour livery ensure the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is set to gain cult status among the vast community of Ducati twin-cylinder aficionados.

New Ducati E-shop Now Online

The new Ducati E-shop, co-developed with Alkemy, a company specialising in the innovation of small-to-large company business models, is now available at shop.ducati.com.

The new platform – which, as of today, also allows the purchase of official technical apparel – provides new digital services and a dedicated range to ensure each customer enjoys a straightforward, user-friendly purchase experience.

“A platform consistent with brand values and in step with digitization: its appealing look and feel merges smoothly with the digital properties of Ducati and offers a responsive, user-friendly, mobile-first, multi-language design. We’re aware that today’s consumer is ‘all-channel’ and influenced by a variety of touch points, both physical and digital. That’s why the new E-Shop offers purchase opportunities which merge on-line and off-line (dealer network) purchases to ensure increased visitor flow to dealers and conversion of the fan base”, stated Luca Battiloro, Ducati’s Commercial After Sales Director.

Following strategic analysis conducted in co-design mode, the outcome is an eCommerce operation that, starting from a redefinition of the ‘customer journey’ experienced by Ducati enthusiasts, has given rise to a universally integrated, constantly evolving platform: a tool capable of creating a tailor-made e-shopping experience modulated on the user’s characteristics.

“The biggest challenge was to make the most of the new eCommerce platform within the extremely diversified Ducati world and integrate it with already well-established all-channel assets. This means we can offer Ducatisti an interaction with the brand that is consistent with the way they experience their passion for all things Ducati and, of course, their geographical distribution”, commented Matteo Bellomo, eCommerce VP of Alkemy.

This new platform constitutes a further step along the digitalization route and an expansion of the Ducati market, enhancing the on-line purchase process and the digital-based brand experience.

Ducati presents exciting new motorcycles for EICMA 2018

The Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer has just presented – from a spectacular stage – the bikes that will soon enthral visitors at EICMA 2018 (Milan-Rho Trade Fair, 8 – 11 November).

The Ducati World Première 2019 was the final act of the Global Dealer Conference, an event uniting key Ducati dealers – about a thousand people – representing 734 dealers in 91 countries. Streamed worldwide on the internet, the event was held on the evening of Sunday 4 November at Milan’s Linear Ciak theatre. Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, unveiled the new 2019 range personally, illustrating company goals and celebrating a thrilling 2018 race season.

“Ducati has achieved a striking degree of maturity”, stated Claudio Domenicali on opening the Ducati World Premiere 2019. “It is a global flag bearer of some of the best aspects of Made in Italy excellence. Based on core values of Style, Sophistication and Performance, our company now offers a range as broad as it is state-of-the-art. This year sees the first major overhaul of the entire Scrambler range since its inception, plus a complete renewal of the Diavel and Hypermotard, two bikes that are firm favourites with Ducatisti. Today, safety and rider-friendliness have hit new heights, yet the brand’s sporting soul is as evident as it has ever been. The Panigale V4 R, in fact, is the most powerful factory motorcycle ever built by Ducati. We’re also delighted with our on-line presence, an area that has enjoyed excellent growth, thus confirming the extraordinary appeal of the entire Ducati product range.”

To get the show under way, the bikes already presented ahead of the Milan fair were illustrated: the new Ducati Scrambler range, with 4 new motorcycles spanning from the Icon version to the more distinctive Cafè Racer, Full Throttle and Desert Sled, and the Multistrada 1260 Enduro.
The new Ducati e-mountainbike, the MIG-RR, also played a major role in the presentation and will have its own special area on the Ducati stand at EICMA 2018.

Ahead of the unveiling of the all-new motorcycles, the Première also saw presentations of the new versions that will join the 2019 range. These include the Monster 25th Anniversary, first seen at WDW2018, and the new Monster 821 stealth that features matt black livery and red graphics, quick shift system, adjustable fork and nose fairing.

Another exciting 2019 bike is the new Multistrada 950 S. A major upgrade of the smallest Ducati ‘multibike’, this latest Multistrada features cutting-edge technology to boost safety and riding enjoyment: electronic Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS), Ducati Quick Shift up & down (DQS), full-LED headlight, 5″ colour TFT display, Hands Free system, Cruise Control and backlit switchgear controls. From a styling viewpoint, the new Multistrada 950 inherits the side ‘wings’ from its bigger 1260 counterpart, making the front even cleaner and more streamlined. It also features hydraulic control and, above all, Bosch ABS Cornering, which increases active safety.

The first of the all-new motorcycles in the Ducati 2019 range is the Hypermotard 950, now racier, more adrenalin-packed and rider-friendly. The Ducati ‘fun bike’ par excellence has been given a full-blown makeover: the new look takes its cue from the supermotard race world, the completely overhauled ergonomics ramps up the fun and riders can now count on an ultra-advanced chassis set-up and electronics package.
A full 4 kg lighter than the previous model, the new Hypermotard 950 mounts a renewed 937 cm³ Testastretta 11° engine with a more muscular 114 hp, combining greater pulling power with new electronics to ensure smoother control.
The Hypermotard 950 electronics package includes Bosch Cornering ABS with the Slide by Brake function, Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO (as standard on the 950 SP version and available as an accessory on the 950).
Now even higher-performing and with racing overtones, the Hypermotard 950 SP features a flat seat, increased-travel Öhlins suspension to ensure an acuter lean angle (+3°), Marchesini forged wheels and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO.

Another major development, unveiled during the Ducati World Première 2019, is the new Diavel 1260. Unconventional, unique and absolutely unmistakeable: as soon as it was launched at EICMA 2010 the Diavel stunned with its personality, design, sport naked handling and thoroughbred engine.
The second-generation Diavel 1260 remains faithful to the original spirit of that incredibly special bike, drawing on its key styling elements and putting a decidedly more contemporary slant on them: it now offers more assertive outlines and higher performance, is more fun on mixed-road routes and offers greater comfort for rider and passenger alike. Its sport naked soul is evident in the Testastretta DVT 1262 engine, capable of delivering 159 hp (117 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm (13.1 kgm) at 7,500 rpm. An immensely satisfying torque curve ensures both breath-taking acceleration and a low-rev smoothness that’s ideal for everyday riding or touring. An upgraded chassis set-up makes the Diavel 1260 more responsive on mixed-road routes while top-drawer technology and electronics provide braking performance on a par with that of a sport bike (and does so safely, thanks to Bosch Cornering ABS) and user-friendly engine performance control. The excellent riding position and ‘power cruiser’ ergonomics that helped make this motorcycle so successful remain unaltered: what has changed is the chassis set-up, characterised by a new tubular steel Trellis frame that goes perfectly with another Diavel hallmark, the 17″ inch rear wheel with its 240 mm wide tyre. The outcome? Superb handling, surprising lean angles and outstanding comfort.
A sportier S version of the Diavel 1260 is also available: features include fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at both front and rear, dedicated wheels and an even higher-performance braking system. Moreover, the S version mounts Ducati Quick Shift up & down Evo (DQS) as standard to allow clutchless shifting.

The new livery on the Panigale V4 S Corse aroused enthusiastic interest. Created using official Ducati MotoGP team colours, it mirrors the special version with the exact same colour scheme that Michele Pirro rode to victory in the Race of Champions at WDW2018. That bike and the other 11 variants that competed in the race were won by twelve lucky enthusiasts in a global auction that attracted record-breaking bids.

Nevertheless, the undisputed star of the Ducati World Première 2019 – and aspiring candidate for the title of ‘best-looking bike of EICMA2018’ – was the Panigale V4 R.

Compared to previous R versions, the Panigale V4 R is now even more specialised and bristles with technology taken directly from MotoGP. The modifications extend far beyond the engine and suspension set-up: they also include the fairing, designed and developed by Ducati Corse in close collaboration with the Ducati Style Centre to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The new fairing also incorporates the aerofoil appendages developed for the MotoGP prototypes. Made of carbon fibre, they increase stability throughout the ride, to allow for reduced reliance on electronic controls, boosting confidence for the pinnacle of rider performance
The Panigale V4 R is, to all intents and purposes, a road-legal WSBK category competition bike and constitutes the technical foundation for the official Ducati Superbikes that will compete in the World Championship as from the 2019 season.
The Desmosedici Stradale 1103 cm3 engine has been replaced with the 998 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale R to comply with displacement limits set by WSBK rules. Unlike the larger V4 – designed to provide fluid power delivery and excellent low-rev pulling power for optimal road use – the 998 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale R offers more extreme performance as power delivery has been designed with the track in mind. Moreover, it’s characterised by lighter internal components (which reduce overall bike weight by 2 kg compared to the Panigale V4S, bringing kerb weight down to just 193 kg). Greater air intake efficiency allows faster engine ‘rev-up’ and shifts the rpm red zone higher to ensure improved acceleration. The result is 221 hp (162 kW) of power at 15,250 rpm (EU homologation values), 2,250 rpm higher than the point of peak power on the 1103 cm3 V4. These impressive figures can be taken even higher by fitting the full-racing Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovič, which boosts maximum power to 234 hp (172 kW) at 15,500 rpm. In short: the most powerful Ducati factory motorcycle ever!

Solid and successful – with dream bikes of unparalleled design and eye-catching accessories and apparel that faithfully reflect their style and originality – Ducati looks forward to welcoming the public to the 76th edition of EICMA (Hall 15 Stand N06) and continuing the pivotal role this iconic brand plays in the international motorcycle industry.

An exclusive Ducati e-mtb ready for its debut at EICMA 2018

On Sunday 4 November 2018 the Ducati World Première in Milan (streamed live worldwide on www.ducati.com starting at 19.00) will unveil, in addition to the latest Ducati models for 2019, the new Ducati e-mtb, the MIG-RR, an enduro born out of close collaboration with Italian company Thok Ebikes.

E-mountainbikes let cyclists take on climbs that, without the motor boost, wouldn’t be possible and, at the same time, they allow everyone to live the off-road on two wheels in total freedom. E-mtbs sales are booming worldwide. Ducati has now entered this market segment relying on the experience of a specialized company, Thok Ebikes, born from the passion of the BMX and Down Hill champion Stefano Migliorini.

The Ducati MIG-RR, which will make its public debut on the Ducati stand at EICMA 2018 (Fiera Milano Rho, 8-11 November), is a true high-end e-mtb developed by Thok Ebikes specialists in close collaboration with Aldo Drudi’s D-Perf and the Ducati Design Center.

While the new Ducati e-mtb is an offshoot of the popular MIG series produced by Thok, it features some unique technical solutions: wheels with different diameters and suspension set-ups with different degrees of wheel travel (29″ and 170 mm at the front, 27.5″ and 160 mm at the rear) make it a true enduro that meets the needs of even the most demanding rider.

With high-level components such as FOX Factory Kashima suspension, carbon fibre Renthal handlebars, Mavic wheels, 4-caliper Shimano Saint brakes and an 11-speed Shimano XT gear set, the MIG-RR features a Shimano Steps E8000 motor – which puts out 250 Watts with a torque of 70N – powered by a 504 Wh battery.
The battery is positioned underneath the down tube. The resulting low barycentre makes the Ducati MIG-RR an easy-to-ride yet precise bike even on the toughest terrain.

The Ducati MIG-RR will be distributed throughout Europe via the Ducati dealership network starting from spring 2019.

It can also be ordered online at www.ducati.com from January 2019 onwards.

New Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro: beyond borders

Presented back in 2016, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro was Ducati’s first travel enduro. Now, with the arrival of the 1260 Enduro, the Bologna-built globetrotter has become even more user-friendly and fun, letting riders experience unlimited Ducati technology, performance and comfort whatever the challenge.

The Enduro mounts the 158 hp 1262 cm3 Testastretta DVT with variable cam timing which made its debut last year on the Multistrada 1260. Compared to the previous version it has an extra 64 cm3 of displacement and a series of improvements that give it extremely smooth yet excellent pulling power right from the bottom of the rev range, making the bike more fun to ride than ever. This allows less frequent gear shifts, meaning the rider can just focus on enjoying the ride. While the new Testastretta engine provides impressive performance, power is kept under control and delivered safely thanks to the Riding Modes, the new Ride by Wire function which ensures smoother, more satisfying throttle control, and the DQS (Ducati Quick Shift) Up & Down which significantly improves the ride experience thanks to precise, fluid, clutchless upshifts and downshifts. The as-standard electronics package includes Bosch Cornering ABS, Cornering Lights, Wheelie Control, Traction Control and Vehicle Hold Control, making this bike the segment benchmark.

Thanks to spoked wheels – 19” at the front and 17” at the rear – the Multistrada 1260 Enduro is perfect for long adventure rides. Featuring recalibrated electronic semi-active Sachs suspension (with 185 mm of travel both front and rear) and a 30-litre fuel tank, the Enduro is, with a range of 450 km and beyond, an unstoppable globetrotter on any terrain.

A revised ergonomics (seat, handlebar and centre of gravity are all lower than on the 1200 version) and a new suspension setup ensure more comfort and fun to any rider in any condition.

A sophisticated new Human Machine Interface (HMI) ensures – via a 5″ TFT colour display and switchgear controls – user-friendly control of all bike settings and functions, the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) included. The DMS connects the bike to the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth, giving access to all key multimedia functions (incoming calls, text messaging, music). Other Multistrada 1260 Enduro features include cruise control and a hands-free system.

The Multistrada 1260 Enduro is compatible with the new Ducati Link App: this lets riders set the journey mode (a combination of Load and Riding Mode) and personalise the parameters of each Riding Mode (ABS, Ducati Traction Control, etc.) via their smartphones. This versatile App also provides comprehensive maintenance deadline info, a user manual and a Ducati Store locator. Furthermore, the Ducati Link App lets riders record performance and routes so they can share their Enduro 1260 riding experiences.

The new Multistrada 1260 Enduro will be available in Ducati Red and Sand. There’s also a wide range of dedicated accessories, such as aluminium panniers and top case, and the Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro packages. The Multistrada 1260 Enduro will be previewed in November at the EICMA fair in Milan and arrive at dealerships starting from early 2019.

Ducati Scrambler Joyvolution hits INTERMOT 2018 with three new versions

The Ducati Scrambler Joyvolution continues and the Land of Joy fun settings have been ramped up with the arrival of three fresh versions. Right now, the new Full Throttle, Café Racer and Desert Sled are gearing up to take centre-stage at INTERMOT 2018 (International Motorcycle, Scooter and E-Bike Fair), to be held in Cologne from 3 to 7 October.

The new Full Throttle takes its cue from the flat track Scrambler ridden by Californian racer Frankie Garcia in the 2018 American Super Hooligan Championship. With its two-tone black-yellow white-striped tank, all-new rear end with dedicated seat and white-rimmed yellow number holders, this bike has a real dirt track competition feel. A low-slung tapered handlebar – light and ergonomic – stubby front mudguard and dual-silencer exhaust add to the distinctiveness of the Scrambler Full Throttle.

With its renewed livery, the Café Racer draws its inspiration – and Silver Ice Matt graphics with blue frame – from the legendary Ducati 125GP Desmo. The new 17″ spoked wheels and aluminium bar-end mirrors give the bike a cool ’60s race look, while a modern radial front brake pump provides braking performance on a par with that of a sport bike. And there’s more: the exhaust with dual tailpipe, nose fairing, lateral number holders (with the number 54 in honour of Bruno Spiaggiari) and stubby mudguard are all clear references to the bikes that roared down British streets in the ’60s.

The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled rekindles the spirit of classic American off-road bikes without compromising on Ducati Scrambler lifestyle values. With its red frame, new seat with colour-coordinated stitching and spoked wheels with black rims, this bike is more up-to-the-minute than ever. The new Desert Sled also features an Off Road Riding Mode that allows ABS disengagement for down-in-the-dirt fun. A dedicated riding position and adjustable Kayaba suspension also ramp up the fun factor. Rugged off-road character also oozes from the type-approved headlight mesh guard, high mudguards (specially designed for this version) and engine skid pan.

These latest versions take self-expression to the max. And they stand alongside the new Scrambler Icon from which they inherit new aesthetics and technical features: presented to the press in mid-September, the latter will get its world-first public preview at INTERMOT 2018.

The aluminium of the new, beefier side panels matches the steel of the teardrop tank and the glass of the headlight flawlessly. A black-painted engine and brushed cylinder head fins add even more eye-catching panache to these new versions.

The all-new headlight with LED DRL (Daytime Running Light) boosts bike visibility in traffic, even in daylight, as do the new auto-off LED indicators. More ergonomic switchgears simplify scrolling of the LCD menu, which now shows selected gear and fuel level info. They also allow smooth operation of the Ducati Multimedia System, which lets riders listen to playlists, answer incoming calls or chat with the passenger on the intercom.

Moreover, thanks to the safety provided by Bosch Cornering ABS – all-new and exclusive for this category of vehicle – riding is now more carefree than ever. Riders will also appreciate the new softer-feel hydraulic clutch control, while the adjustable lever – like the one on the front brake – ensures the lever-handlebar gap can be adapted to individual needs.

Just four years after the Scrambler Ducati brand official launch – in Cologne itself back in 2014 – over 55,000 bikes have been sold worldwide. The breadth of the brand is also evident in the four Ducati Scrambler Camp stores in Borgo Panigale, Padua, Barcelona and New York, plus the two Scrambler Food Factory restaurants opened in Bologna.

To see the official launch video for these versions check out the Ducati Scrambler social networks or go to the official website and share the content through #joyvolution and #scramblerducati.

Ducati presents a new colour scheme for the XDiavel

Ducati is ready to reveal, at Intermot and EICMA, all the new models for 2019 and is previewing an all-new colour scheme for the XDiavel.

The latest colour to bedeck the Ducati cruiser will be Matt Liquid Concrete Grey, a grey that goes perfectly with the “total black” of the chassis and engine. The new dark brown seat completes the sophisticated yet sporty styling, sharpening the Ducati XDiavel’s already distinctive character.

The S version features a headlight with DRL (Daytime Running Light), DLC-coated fork tubes, Brembo M50 front brake calipers, dedicated machined rims and machine-finished engine belt covers. Moreover, it will continue to be available in Thrilling Black and Iceberg White, both with the red-trimmed stripe that makes the tank so eye-catching.

The XDiavel in its new colour scheme will be available in Ducati Stores starting from November onwards dependent on territory and the UK SRP will be £17195
