KTM launches new PowerWear Casual and Accessories 2018 range

With the PowerWear Casual and Accessories 2018 collection, KTM presents a bold, new range of outfits and accessories tailored to meet everyone’s everyday needs. Men, women and children can dive into the STYLE, REPLICA, ORANGE, MECHANIC or KINI collections and emerge READY TO RACE, whether they are supporting trackside or simply living life on the edge. And with the addition of the new EMPHASIS collection, they are now able to continue full throttle while training as well.

Included for the first time ever in this new collection is KTM’s brand-new range of sporting gear. Designed to meet the harsh training demands of a champion, the rather subtle EMPHASIS collection is an honest statement of winning intentions. Comfortable, breathable, quick-drying and water-repellent, this collection eliminates every excuse to not get out there and go for the gold.

More casual gear is collected in the STYLE and ORANGE segments. The first line-up is loud and edgy – an array of styles that is tailored to a fast-paced motorcycle lifestyle. Think T-shirts, hoodies, jackets and accessories that make you wear your orange heart on your sleeve. For a more understated look, clients can shop around in the ORANGE corner. As PURITY is one of the brand values at KTM, this collection reflects precisely that. From jackets to caps, bags and shades, everything is soaked in that strong orange statement that you don’t need much, only the best.

Dress like the pros with KTM’s REPLICA collection, for that READY TO RACE feeling every time you leave the house. Breathable, water-repellent if necessary and made from the finest materials, this line-up makes stepping out of your comfort zone, comfortable. “Whether I’m at home or in the paddock, the KTM REPLICA TEAM WEAR never fails to make me feel part of a family of true petrolheads.” – Tony Cairoli.

The MECHANIC line aims at the workshop. KTM mechanics are part of a rare breed of professionals who combine a sense of adventure with an extreme attention to detail and sky-high skills. When they show up on the job, they need to be ready for anything. Tried and tested in paddocks all over the world, these professional outfits and accessories will help you get it done.

With its 2-stroke and 4-stroke machines, from the KTM 50 SX to the KTM 450 SX-F ultimate powerhouse, KTM offers high quality serial equipment in all of its motocross range. As developed for its factory racing teams, which have won numerous races and championships, including last year’s AMA 450 Supercross title with Ryan Dungey, as well as the FIM MX2 World Championship with Jeffrey Herlings, these KTM serial machines are renowned for being READY TO RACE right out of the crate.

For model year 2018 KTM introduces a brand new KTM 85 SX for junior riders that are cutting their teeth in the schoolboy ranks. With the serious competitor in mind, this machine has a new engine that is 0.69 kg lighter than the previous model, with improved power and rideability throughout the complete RPM range. In addition, the KTM 85 SX receives a lighter chassis with a revised chromium molybdenum steel frame as crafted by WP Performance Systems, as well as a lighter subframe. This READY TO RACE Mini, which joins the KTM 50 SX and KTM 65 SX in KTM’s line-up of premium junior equipment, is fitted with high-quality Formula brakes, WP AER 43 forks and a specifically developed WP Xplor progressive damping system (PDS) shock absorber, which provides excellent sensitivity and outstanding bottoming resistance with full adjustability.

In the adult range the KTM 125 SX and KTM 150 SX now feature new aluminum head stays, as well as a new CDI control unit for improved starting behaviors. As with all of KTM serial equipment, the 4-stroke range, including the KTM 250 SX-F, KTM 350 SX-F and KTM 450 SX-F, boasts high-quality, class-leading components from the all-important E-starter, to the WP suspension, traction control and map selection, and much more to compliment the super lightweight, yet powerful championship winning engines.

KTM Trick Scot – KevinCarmichael appointed as official UK KTM stunt rider

Kevin Carmichael appointed as official UK KTM stunt rider

World renowned ‘extreme motorcycle rider’, Kevin Carmichael, has become KTM’s official stunt performer in the UK.

The Scotsman has been a professional stunt rider since 1997, becoming European champion in the same year and then clinching the title again continuously from 1999 to 2002. A regular face at motorcycle events across the world, he was the first rider to wheelie a superbike with no front wheel or forks and pioneered the use of a bar-mounted rear brake.

Looking to take his dynamic show to the next level, for his 2017 show season, Kevin, 49, will utilise a diverse range of KTM’s Ready to Race machinery, including the 690 DUKE – the world’s most powerful single cylinder – along with the new ‘Beast’ 1290 SUPER DUKE R and a 250 EXC-F enduro machine.

Kevin Carmichael said: “KTM is the most exciting motorcycle brand, so naturally I’m really happy to be working with them. Coming from an off-road background, I’ve always admired their approach to motocross and enduro and they’ve carried this individual character on to their street bikes.
“Since getting behind the bars of the 690 DUKE I’m incredibly impressed with how light and balanced the bike is and I’ve only just scratched the surface of its potential. As for the 1290 SUPER DUKE R, well, you never see those on two wheels anyway!”

Carmichael made his ‘orange debut’ at the MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show on March 11, performing heart-racing shows across the weekend event to large crowds. Throughout 2017 he will be performing at multiple rounds of the MCE British Superbike Championship. Visit Kevin’s Facebook page to find out about forthcoming shows.

READY TO RACE – but this doesn’t just apply to motorsport. With its modern KTM PowerWear collection, KTM is also a pioneer in stylish yet practical leisure and functional wear.

In cooperation with Gimoto, an Italian manufacturer of traditional leather combis, KTM has developed a configurator that allows the KTM RSX SUIT leather combi and the RSX JACKET and PANTS to be individually designed and made to measure. For those with a less pronounced creative streak, there are also combis, jackets and pants available in the traditional white-black-orange design (available in sizes S/48 to XXXL/58).

At www.ktm.com/customleathers anyone can create their own individually designed and personalised one- or two-piece leather combi in just a few simple steps – and all for the same price as a standard suit with the same features. There are virtually no limits to your imagination and individuality: choose from a number of KTM-typical colors and add to the design with various KTM logos or your own name.

So that the tailor-made and KTM-branded leather combis made from cow or kangaroo leather fit like a second skin and feel just as comfortable, the configurator offers further options for the perforation, lining, ventilation, elastic inserts and aerodynamic hump. Shoulder, elbow and knee protectors and a pocket for the optional SAS-TEC® back protector ensure safety from both the standard and customised versions.

Whether it’s tailor-made or from the rack – a must for every KTM racer.

Sam Sunderland Takes Red Bull KTM Factory Rally Machine for London City Tour

The 2017 Dakar Rally champion, Sam Sunderland, enjoyed a celebratory touristic ride around London yesterday (Friday 17th February) aboard his ultra-special Red Bull KTM 450 FACTORY RALLY machine.

Sunderland, who hails from Poole in Dorset, is the first British winner of the Dakar Rally in any class and following on from his outstanding victory, the 27-year-old racer took a ride around English capital to take in some of the sights.

It was an unusual spectacle with the Red Bull KTM 450 FACTORY RALLY machine being seen in such a busy city, where many fans took pictures as Sam rode around the likes of Canary Wharf, Westminster, across Tower Bridge and past many of the other famous London vistas.

Sunderland’s victory at the Dakar is an incredible one, especially as just over one year ago the Dubai-based Brit broke his femur, and in fact the 2017 edition of the race was the first time the KTM-ace has completed the event. This year the Dakar was ultra-tough with incredibly difficult navigation and weather conditions, as the riders competed over nearly 9,000km through Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina across 12 stages. Sunderland’s victory is the 16th consecutive win for KTM.

Sam’s London city tour was a special experience for the rally racer, as he’s usually more at home with riverbeds, dunes and desert, but today the KTM-star’s ride was completed when he rode into the MCN London Motorcycle Show at the ExCeL exhibition centre, which was broadcast on Facebook Live. Sam will be spending some time meeting fans and signing autographs over the weekend at the event.

Sam Sunderland – 2017 Dakar Rally winner
“It’s been really cool to come back to London and see some British fans that are so passionate about what I’ve done. It makes me feel excited about it, I really enjoy meeting the fans, as it’s very humbling. Today I got to ride my rally bike around London to do some sightseeing like a tourist, and it was quite special as obviously normally the bike is at races like Dakar, in the desert, or on rough terrain. We certainly got quite a lot of looks from people and photos taken. It was a strange, but really cool day, cruising around over Tower Bridge, by Houses of Parliament and so on. It’s been really fun and great to be at home in the UK.”

KTM – Streets Ahead

A multitude of sensational new bikes characterises KTM’s model range of 2017. While the brand new ADVENTURE range, expanded to five models, formed the focus at the INTERMOT in Cologne, in Italy KTM is all about street art.

Stefan Pierer (CEO KTM GROUP): “The DUKE brand is how KTM really hit the street 22 years ago and for model year 2017 this sub-brand really comes out fighting; from 125 to 1,301cc each and every model punches out the true core values of KTM and the attitude of DUKE. To underline the importance of this range of naked machines, with the 790 DUKE prototype we can give you a look into the future and an all-new source of power from KTM.”

KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R – THE BEAST 2.0

With this bike’s new transponder key in your pocket, you go for the gold. An overhauled V-Twin beats the battle drums at 177 hp, while its revamped chassis is set to stay ahead when the straight is devoured. When corners become prey. Every bit, byte, nut and bolt wants you to be fast and in control: wider, lower handlebar, Brembo monobloc brakes, MSC with Bosch cornering ABS, glorious WP suspension, an optional, two-way quickshifter+, a multifunctional TFT display, a full LED headlight, the works. This is our latest performance entrepreneur – pure, raw and straight to the point: speed.

KTM 125 AND 390 DUKE – OUTSTANDING PACKAGE
These firecrackers get a new, bolt-on rear subframe, a larger steel tank and steeply rising lines that catapult their street cred sky-high. Just like the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R, whose little brothers they are very proud to be. Or is it the other way around? They also receive a high-tech TFT display, an LED headlight and the best brakes in their segment. Both have WP open-cartridge front forks and with the optional extra ‘KTM MY RIDE’ (smart phone connectivity) topping things off, KTM once again turns – happily nodding – heads in this segment.

KTM 790 DUKE PROTOTYPE – THE SCALPEL
125, 250, 390, 690, 1290. What’s next? In terms of displacement, we can’t really make a case for growth. KTM can, however, justify the hunt for unparalleled poise. Telepathic levels of feedback. Lightness that’s off the scale. Our engineers are highly motivated to establish a new level of riding sensation. The first proof of these huge efforts: the inspiring prototype “790 DUKE”.

An inline twin emerged on the blank sheet: the LC8c. That ‘c’ stands for compact, ‘LC8’ for good times ahead. They fitted their 790cc gem with a tight suit tailored from hand-welded steel pipes, the finest suspension components from WP prototype development as well as a beautifully machined aluminum subframe and tail cowl. And in order to slingshot this lightweight another couple of light years ahead, advanced ride by wire, next-generation rider assistance, integrated connectivity and tomorrow’s sensors are here today. But that’s not the end of it. Imagine a quickshifter that takes its name extremely seriously. Custom ride modes. Personalised traction control. Outrageous design by KISKA. And – hold the press – there’s a 3D printer involved in the production of both the exhaust system and triple clamp. They are out of this world. Knockout rollout in Milan.

KTM – Adventure Incorporated

We are fascinated by the extraordinary, driven by relentless curiosity and always up for a two-wheeled adventure. In the dirt as well as on tarmac. Of course the MX bikes and Enduros remain a focal point of KTM’s product portfolio, but for many years now, KTM’s outstanding and ongoing business success has been tied to street bikes to a similar degree. The ADVENTURE Travel Enduros are our star players in that role. No less than four newly developed true Sportmotorcycles made in Austria storm into the limelight.

KTM CSO Hubert Trunkenpolz: “As KTM in Germany plays a massive role within our success story, we are pleased to announce the new line-up of our 2017 ADVENTURE models at the INTERMOT show. A range which reflects our technical excellence and believe in the purest and honest way of travel endure riding. Increased performance and rideability and numerous newly developed electronic features cleary show, in true KTM spirit – the race will be on again very soon”.

KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R – FASTEST OFFROAD TRAVEL ENDURO. FULLSTOP.

True adventure takes guts, so KTM’s rally experts brought out the big guns and packed 1.301 cc, 140 Nm of torque and 160 hp into the world’s most advanced Travel Enduro chassis. This makes for a mile-munching omnivore, ready to carve its name into any terrain – the tougher, the better. It is our most extreme Adventure ever, full stop. Full throttle.

KTM 1090 ADVENTURE R – BRING IT ON

The KTM 1090 ADVENTURE R stares down anything in its path. Bespoke WP suspension, offroad wheels and a tough yet fuel-efficient engine are ready to rumble. Decades of rally raid victories roar within. As shrewd as it is chiseled, this bike uses the same state-of-the-art technology as the 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R. The result? 125 hp (92 kW) that are refined as can be, but rude as you please. Roads may end, but the fun will not. The world is yours – devour it.

KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S – GROUNDBREAKER

Whack the throttle wide open in the middle of a nasty corner. Brake hard while fully leant over. No harm is done – just grin and rocket on. Even when you’re bending the laws of physics, KTM’s combination of 160 hp, 140 Nm of torque and a mere 238 kg is kept in check by the most advanced electronics in the world of motorcycling. All you have to do is focus on the road ahead – and hold on tight. But the 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S offers buttery smooth cruising as well, if that’s what you really want…

KTM 1090 ADVENTURE – PURE ADRENALINE

Those who want to travel far and fast, don’t need a lot. Just the best. So we built the KTM 1090 ADVENTURE to be light on its feet, yet adequately equipped and easier to ride than ever. Easy on your wallet too. Nevertheless, multi-mode traction control and ABS come as standard and the engine is built using the same state-of-the art technology as the 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE. Even though this V-twin is a little smaller, it still delivers 125 hp (92 kW). The featherweight chassis and well-balanced suspension team up with prize-winning Metzeler Tourance Next tires to take you wherever you dare, whenever you want. All fun, no bulk – this bike is made to load up on adrenaline instead.

ADVENTURE RALLY – 2017

Next to those new vehicle, KTM in Cologne also presents for the first time the ADVENTURE RALLY concept. To inspire riders and guide them into true adventures, a series of dedicated intense riding experience events will be in place alongside the launch campaign. And it’s here to stay. With full focus on this already in North America successfully established rider’s program and its extension to a global level – KTM delivers ADVENTURE on a full scale.

KTM: Ready to Race Experience

Try before you buy in style with new KTM SX motocross test days

The world’s best motocross range has got even faster, lighter and sharper for model year 2017 and KTM is offering riders the chance to experience this by getting behind the bars of its class-leading SX machines.

Running throughout July, the KTM ‘Ready To Race Experience’ provides the opportunity to test a new adult SX machine – from 125 to 450cc, two-stroke and four-stroke – at leading race tracks across the UK.

With Supercross success for Ryan Dungey in the last two consecutive seasons, as well as the AMA outdoor motocross championship in 2015, even if the trophies keep coming it’s clear there is no rest for the KTM R&D engineers. The SX range MY 2017, which was revolutionised with a new generation last year, has been refined to make these world-beating motocross powerhouses better than ever, while the 250 SX has been completely updated for to bring it in line with the other models.

For MY 2017 the KTM 4-stroke range includes a new map switch, which incorporates a new traction control system to compliment the launch control. An hour meter is fitted to every model, to make it easier to keep on top of maintenance, a new handlebar clamping bridge, new brake pads and a longer rear brake pedal are included, a reworked shock setting, as well as a re-worked upper triple clamp with the front forks receiving new tubes and piston for better flex characteristics and reduced stiction. All models will be delivered with a WP fork pump to compliment the AER 48 front forks. 4-stroke models receive aluminium head stays, while 2-strokes have new Mikuni carburettors. And of course a brand new graphic for all models for that true READY TO RACE feel.

In addition the 250 SX, which did not receive the new generation upgrades as the rest of the range last year, is completely new for MY 2017. A new engine provides improved power delivery and performance with its new shaft arrangement for better handling and a new counter balance shaft for reduced vibrations. This powerhouse of a 2-stroke motor is fitted into a new chassis to the same specification as the rest of the SX range for reduced weight and better performance throughout the machine.

Aimed at experienced motocross riders only from age 15 and over, each Experience Day runs six separate sessions, with individual riders able to book on to a maximum of two sessions, costing £60 for one or £90 for two places. The day starts with technical training on the SX machine, followed by a riders briefing and then 60 mins of open riding time on an exclusive track. Every attendee will have at their disposal a freshly prepared SX model along with a KTM technician and WP suspension expert to allow the machine to be finely tuned to the individual’s riding style and preferences.

KTM Announces MY2017 Sportminicycle Range

Big effort on small bikes: KTM is excited to announce the upgraded Sportminicycle range for MY2017 including the 50 SX, 65 SX and 85 SX models for budding junior riders and racers.

At a recent event in Las Vegas, as part of the Supercross series that was won by Red Bull KTM factory rider and back-to-back 450 Supercross Champion, Ryan Dungey, the new ‘Minis’ were unveiled with some exciting changes. For model year 2017 the 50 SX and 65 SX will receive the brand new AER 35 forks by WP Suspension, which is an incredible step forward in terms of air fork technology for junior motorcycles. This revolutionary technology allows the bikes to be adjusted easily for the growing rider with a simple fork pump. These models also boast a fully adjustable shock absorber, new exhaust system, an hourmeter and new graphics in the style of the ‘grown up’s bikes’, which allows these exciting READY TO RACE quality bikes step out as the benchmark in terms of junior machines.

The KTM 50 SX is a true KTM for young motocross riders at the entry level of the sport. With its steady, controllable power and an automatic clutch, the 50 SX is ideal for the budding motocross racer. Its bigger brother, the KTM 65 SX, is a fully-fledged piece of racing kit for youngsters, and sets the standard in terms of power, riding dynamics, equipment and craftsmanship.

The biggest machine in the junior range is the class-leading KTM 85 SX, which is available in both small wheel and big wheel guises. For MY2017 this machine retains its traditional sprung forks, but detail changes have further improved this ever-popular, class-leading READY TO RACE machine.

“It gives us great satisfaction to bring some major updates to the Sportminicycle range. Of course the biggest changes are in the suspension for the 50 SX and 65 SX, which now receive the brilliant, revolutionary WP AER 35 front fork system. This means that as a young rider is growing, the spring rate can be easily adjusted, as can the setting of the bike for different tracks and terrain. In the rear of the bike is a fully adjustable shock absorber, as well as other detail improvements throughout these small machines providing the very best quality for young riders,” said KTM Offroad Product Manager, Joachim Sauer.

“It gives us a lot of pride to see young riders embrace the orange family, giving them the feeling of quality equipment from a young age for those who enjoy riding for fun as well as those that go on to be professional athletes,” concluded Sauer.

The MY2017 KTM Sportminicycle range will be available in KTM Dealers at the beginning of June 2016.

KTM: UK Demo Tour Begins

The ‘Orange Roadshow’ offers test rides on 2016 Street range

KTM UK has begun its 2016 Orange Roadshow, offering riders an increased opportunity to sample selected models from its 2016 Street range.

Attending various outdoor events and KTM open days to bolster the existing assortment of dealer test bikes on offer, the travelling demo tour begins at Sheffield-based dealer SMC on May 7 before moving to the MCN Festival in Peterborough with Gear4 Motorcycles on May 14-15.

For riders without limits or who simply want every journey to be an adventure, there’s a massive variety in performance and rider equipment between the 1050 ADVENTURE1190 ADVENTURE and 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE – including some of the most advanced electronic rider aids available. These are all bikes that don’t compromise on rider satisfaction or safety – no matter the road or load.

The new 690 DUKE is the most powerful and technically refined single-cylinder naked on the market. Revised for 2016, the engine has received a huge update to deliver more punch, improved smoothness and increased efficiency. The narrow and featherlight steel trellis chassis – fitted with high-end WP suspension and Brembo braking components – not only makes it easy to manoeuvre though favourite corners or congested commutes, it also boosts rider confidence.

The 1290 SUPER DUKE GT is fast setting the new standard in sports touring motorcycles with an array of leading technical rider aids married to a chassis with genuine READY TO RACE lightweight sporty performance and the latest incarnation of the torque-laden 1290 LC8 V-twin engine.

‘The Beast’ 1290 SUPER DUKE R is joined with a ‘Special Edition’ variant. Boasting the same brutal engine performance and precise handling, but is instead finished with a distinctive and exclusive colour scheme and fitted with a host of performance and aesthetically-enhancing KTM PowerParts.

KTM 690 Duke Power Party

The model year 2016 KTM 690 DUKE and 690 DUKE R are the most powerful and technically advanced single-cylinder machines available. Although they boast a long list of new features and refinements, KTM knows its riders still need to modify their bikes and so a diverse range of official PowerParts are available.

Both new Duke models – available at KTM dealers now –  are designed to suit a wide variety of riding and rider types and the PowerParts range reflects this. Offering everything from altering the styling with replacement graphics, carbon fibre bodywork and anodised items, to engine and chassis tuning parts such as exhausts and adjustable levers. For riders who want to go even further on their Duke, a range of luggage options are also available along with a comprehensive array of protection products to further increase the bikes’ versatility.

KTM always places great focus on creating ergonomics to suit a wide range of rider shapes, but the PowerParts catalogue features items to increase comfort and adjustability further. Examples include five different handlebar mount heights, rearsets, like those featured as standard on the R model, a 25mm lowering kit (690 DUKE only) with unaltered riding dynamics and Ergo Seats to improve comfort for rider and pillion.

All PowerParts are developed alongside the bike by a dedicated team within KTM’s research and development department. When it comes to outsourcing components with items like exhausts, KTM’s close working relationship with Akrapovič allows them to offer a performance-enhancing item that is homologated for legal use and requires no modifications to the Duke’s fuelling.

KTM 690 DUKE / 690 DUKE R PowerParts Highlights

AKRAPOVIČ TITANIUM SLIP-ON SILENCER £567.27
Premium finish road homologated silencer is both strong and light thanks to its core titanium construction. A ‘plug and play’ product that does not require adjustment to the fuelling and has a removable baffle.

UNDER-ENGINE FAIRING £161.52
In typical KTM orange, this aluminium under-engine fairing is not only a visual highlight for the 690 DUKE, but also excellent protection for the pre-silencer.

2K REAR SPROCKET £52.76
High-strength steel teeth with Aluminium inner ring. Joined together permanently with high-strength rivets. At least three times longer service life than other aluminium rear sprockets and only half the weight of a conventional steel rear sprocket.

REAR SET “DUKE R” £226.42
Get complete control of the bike with a sportier, more ergonomic sitting position. The DUKE R rear set provides this as well as racing looks. Change compared with the standard foot peg position: 60–70mm towards the rear, 30–50mm higher.

TRACK PACK £244.54
Take the 690 DUKE to new limits with ‘Track Pack’, which activates and allows the multiple options of the Traction Control (TC), Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) and Ride Mode electronic rider aid functions.

ERGO SEAT: Rider £113.5 Pillion £78.3
No doubt the standard seat of the new Duke is much improved, but the Ergo options for rider and pillion not only look more lavish they offer a 3D structural mesh construction for improved comfort over prolonged riding without sacrificing movement on the bike.

RADIAL ROADLOK
£323.78

No excuses for forgetting to lock your bike as the patented RoadLoK technology stays bolted directly to the caliper to provide an effective and elegant option for protecting a Duke from theft. The lock’s light body is machined from high-grade aluminium with a super-strong steel pin slides directly into the holes in the brake disc.

SIDE BAGS (including carrier) £486.10
With a capacity of 13 litres on each side and water-tight inner compartments, these Side Bags provide a lightweight and easy-to-install transport solution for your next tour. They mount to the bike with Carrier built from a robust steel tube construction, designed to follow the form of the bike’s design.

BRAKE/CLUTCH LEVER ARTICULATED AND ADJUSTABLE £137.15 (each)
“Form follows function” – these levers are a visual highlight with technical and ergonomic added value. CNC-machined from high-strength aluminium with a tough black anodised surface finish. In the event of a crash, the levesr can fold away upwards. Also features adjustable grip width and lever length.

CRASH BARS
£131.10
In the event of minor crashes and falls, these plastic-coated tubular steel bars mirror the design of the chassis they securely attach to, protecting that as well as other parts like the fuel tank. Available in black or orange.

GRAPHICS KIT “STEALTH” £112.81
The entire look of the Duke can be altered simply with one of the official PowerParts graphics kit, including this new ‘Stealth’ option. No need for paint as these hard wearing graphics are designed to fit perfectly.

LOW CHASSIS KIT £403.82
Available for the 690 DUKE only, this kit has been designed specifically alongside the bike to lower the entire machine with unchanged riding dynamics, resulting in a 25mm lower seat height and the same unique Duke appeal.

WAVE BRAKE DISC 320mm
£202.06
Whether it be punishing missions on the racetrack or touring with passenger and luggage, the WAVE brake discs offer 25% more braking power thanks to materials from the world of racing. Another way of looking at it is less hand force for the same braking power – no fading, consistent braking performance at the highest level.

Ride KTM, GO TO MotoGP

KTM’s annual Orange Days celebrations are happening in its official dealers from April 30 until May 8 and riders taking a demo ride during this dealer event have a chance to win one of five pairs of tickets for the British MotoGP at Silverstone on September 1-4.

The Orange Days typically celebrate the beginning of the street riding season and place a greater emphasis on demo rides, with its UK, Ireland and Channel Islands dealers lining up more test bikes than ever to give riders further opportunity to experience the unique qualities of a KTM on the road.

Matt Walker, KTM UK General Manager, said: “Demo rides are always available at KTM dealers, but the Orange Days are a dedicated focus on getting riders to experience the unique feeling of a KTM and that can only be done by being behind the bars and riding one.”

The KTM Street range is as diverse as ever in 2016 with machines ranging from 125 to 1,301cc. Recently released, the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT is fast setting the new standard in sports touring motorcycles with an array of leading technical rider aids married to a chassis with genuine READY TO RACE lightweight sporty performance and the latest incarnation of the torque-laden 1290 LC8 V-twin engine.

In 2016 ‘The Beast’ 1290 SUPER DUKE R is joined with a ‘Special Edition’ variant. The super naked still pacts the same brutal engine performance and precise handling, but is instead finished with a distinctive and exclusive colour scheme and fitted with a host of performance and aesthetically-enhancing KTM PowerParts.

The four-strong Adventure range is for riders without limits or who simply want every journey to be an adventure. Starting with the 1050 ADVENTURE, this joined by the 1190 ADVENTURE1190 ADVENTURE R and finally the 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE, there’s a massive variety in performance and rider equipment, including some of the most advanced electronic rider aids available. These are all bikes that don’t compromise on rider satisfaction no matter the road or load.

Revised for this year, the 690 DUKE and 690 DUKE R are the most powerful single cylinders on the market. The engine has received a huge update to deliver more punch, improved smoothness and increased efficiency. The narrow and feather light steel trellis chassis – fitted with high-end WP suspension and Brembo braking components – not only make these machines easy to manoeuvre though favourite corners or congested commutes, it also boosts rider confidence.

For new riders or those who want a small capacity and lightweight machine that is both eye-catching and delivers big riding rewards, they should look no further than the Moto3-inspired supersport RC 125 and RC 390 and the naked 125 DUKE and 390 DUKE.

After the Orange Days finish, five demo riders will be randomly picked to see who has one a pair of MotoGP tickets.

KTM 690 Duke & Duke R Punch Into 2016

KTM finishes the year at full throttle as the new 2016 KTM 690 DUKE and KTM 690 DUKE R tore up some scenic mountain roads for the first time. The dynamic launch of the latest version of the LC4-powered machine introduced the world’s media to its unrivalled list of features, performance and refinement.

In typical KTM style, the unique bikes – first unveiled in their full form at EICMA, Milan, in November – were not allowed to stay static very long as both heavily updated machines were sampled under near perfect weather conditions in Gran Canaria on roads simply the stuff of dreams for any rider.

The outgoing models, which were already the most powerful production single cylinders on the market as well as super fuel efficient, could have been easily adapted to pass the new Euro 4 emissions requirements, but KTM engineers wouldn’t be KTM engineers if they settled on past achievements and didn’t push for even better results.

The MY2016 bikes will arrive in dealerships in January and boast revisions across their respective packages. The 690cc engine from the single cylinder specialists features over 55% of new components. The result is an increased rev range that delivers more power and more torque than ever, but with a drastic reduction of vibrations. All this while the incredible fuel economy and huge service intervals stay untouched.

The experienced journalists were able to put these new firecrackers through their paces along with testing the leading electronics systems on the KTM 690 DUKE. They include Traction Control (TC), multiple Ride Modes and Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) as part of its optional Track Pack.

The KTM 690 DUKE R takes the base model even further in a READY TO RACE style with top-specification WP Suspension and Brembo brakes. It also adds lean angle sensitivity to its ABS, MSR and Traction Control via the incredible Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system. All these features come as standard.

Both bikes arrive in KTM dealers across Europe in January 2016 and are backed up with a huge variety of KTM PowerParts for further personalization and enhancement.

KTM Streets Ahead for 2016

KTM STREETS AHEAD FOR 2016

New 1290 Super Duke GT, 690 Dukes and 1290 Super Duke R Special Edition lead host of updated models

At the EICMA Show in Milan on Tuesday November 17, KTM pulled the covers off its 2016 range of Street motorcycles for the first time.

Four new models were introduced in the shape of the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT, 690 DUKE, 690 DUKE R and 1290 SUPER DUKE R Special Edition while a host of other bikes in the range have been treated to subtle revisions to keep them at the top of their respective class.

Full technical information can be obtained in the press kit available directly from Simon Belton at KTM UK. Prices will be announced at Motorcycle Live, held at the Birmingham NEC from November 28 to December 6 which will also be the first opportunity in the UK to see the entire 2016 KTM Street range. Visit www.motorcyclelive.co.uk for more information.

KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT:

With the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT, KTM forcefully extends its Street range at the upper end. The star of model year 2016 is a perfectly equipped, light- weight and agile marathon sprinter with plenty of power as well as a vast package of the latest riding assistance systems. Besides the Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) including traction control and the C-ABS – both lean angle sensitive – it includes the KTM Ride Mode technology as well as a quickshifter. KTM shores up the long distance capabilities of the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT with a comprehensive touring package: a 23 litre tank, a lengthened rear subframe with integral mounts for the optional panniers, heated grips, cruise control, comfortable seats, the wind and weather protection of an adjustable windshield, LED cornering lights and LED daytime running lights. With a more than comprehensive equipment package like that, as well as its 173 hp LC8 engine and semi-active suspension, the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT masters the whole range from comfortable long distance motorway travelling to breathtaking alpine or track day use.

KTM 690 DUKE

More than two decades after the very first DUKE, KTM launches a new generation of the perennial hit, proving in an impressive manner that the single cylinder engine is all but obsolete even in a Street bike, not least by complying with Euro 4 emission control standards. The brand new engine puts out a full 73 hp of maximum power. Despite this, it offers plenty of smoothness and refinement thanks to multiple balancers, as well as an even wider powerband than its predecessors. The modified steering geometry brings even more stability and precision to the pre-eminently agile chassis of the 690 DUKE. And there is lots of other perks as well, like the on-board computer, a large, multifunctional TFT colour display and ABS as a standard. In addition, the potent single can be adjusted with an optional Track pack which includes a Sport and Rain Ride mode, Traction Control (TC), Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) and a Supermoto mode. The 690 DUKE is more alive, more appealing and more modern than ever.

KTM 690 DUKE R

The new 690 DUKE is also available as an ‘R’ version for model year 2016, distinguished by a full 75 hp of durable maximum power. Among others, the extra horsepower is a result of the 690 DUKE R’s high quality Akrapovič silencer. In addition, there is a Brembo Monoblock braking caliper and a fully adjustable WP suspension that also allows even greater lean angles than the 690 DUKE. The 690 DUKE R comes equipped with lean angle sensitive ABS, Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), Motor Slip regulation (MSR) and the Supermoto mode. Of course the ‘R’ also benefits from everything that is new about the 690 DUKE, like the KTM Ride Mode technology, the new TFT display and the updated steering geometry. Great-looking parts like the cutting edge LED indicators and racy pillion seat cover round off the ‘R’ package. Insiders recognise the 690 DUKE R at the first glance by its wheels and frame in the typical KTM Orange.

KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R SPECIAL EDITION:
KTM proves year after year there is never a standstill in Mattighofen. That even goes for a milestone machine like the 1290 SUPER DUKE R, even though it only enters its third year in 2016. For all those who long for even less weight, even more sound and even more individuality, the new model year brings the SPECIAL EDITION. This upgrade treats The Beast to a whole host of top quality KTM PowerParts: an Akrapovič titanium silencer reduces the weight while adding extra sound. Wave brake discs offer even better feedback and expanded braking stability in extreme duty. Stiffer triple clamps optimise steering precision under ferocious braking. Levers adjustable in multiple ways and a different seat serve to optimise ergonomics specifically for track use. A unique paint design and classy accessories made of orange anodised aluminium or carbon fibre make for exclusive finishing touches.

KTM Introduces New Generation SX Range

KTM is pleased to introduce the model year 2016 SX range, which is a completely new generation of motocross bikes that are lighter, faster and even more agile than before with a huge weight reduction thanks to a new chassis, revised engines along with the brand new AER 48 fork system by WP.

Thanks to the intense development work from the R&D departments in Mattighofen, Austria and the USA, along with a strong influence from the motorsports department that has recently celebrated KTM’s first ever 450SX World Championship title by Ryan Dungey, as well as the East 250SX title from Marvin Musquin, while also not forgetting the two World Motocross Championship title wins last year, KTM is proud to present the new serial production range, which will be available globally from June onwards.

This new READY TO RACE generation of KTM SX models, which is being introduced to the media at the historic Maggiora track in Italy this week, offers state-of-the-art technology combined with class-leading performance and the lowest weight in each class, which will set the benchmark for the Motocross world.

Chassis

Compared to previous models, over 90% of the parts are new, as the KTM engineers aimed at increasing performance, improving handling and reducing weight of these already world-dominating machines, despite still including the all-important electric starter. Key improvements include the innovative AER 48 Air Fork design developed by WP in close collaboration with KTM (US models continue to be fitted with a refined version of the WP 4CS fork system), plus a newly designed chassis with a new framesubframefootpegsswingarmlinkage and rear shock to provide improved mass centralisation and reduced weight for better handling (all models except 250 SX).

Engine

A full range of completely new, smaller and lighter 4-stroke engines, plus a new 125cc 2-stroke, have been developed with a totally new architecture design, which offers increased performance, while also working in harmony with the new chassis. The 4-stroke range now has a state-of-the-art launch control system, an updated EMS with a faster ECU, as well as a new throttle body and different riding modes. The vision is simple: The KTM engineers wanted to make their new bikes faster than ever before.

Joachim Sauer, KTM Off-road Product Manager: “We are excited to deliver a new generation of SX models, which have been developed in collaboration with many experts in our R&D department, professional racers, our motorsports department and of course WP. This range offers a huge step forward in terms of technology and a massive reduction in weight over previous models.”

“The new AER 48 fork system is an incredibly innovative design and combined with the new chassis, improved engines and overall refinements, we are confident that riders will feel a massive benefit from the SX MY16 range. We also continue to retain specific elements that suit different markets, such as the 4CS fork system for the USA. The hard work globally with our factory teams, which has seen us achieve even more success in the toughest competitions in Motocross and Supercross, can now be shared with our customers and we are pleased to present the latest SX models to the world.”

Sportminicycles

The KTM junior range has also received detail updates for the 50 SX, 65 SX and 85 SX, and KTM continues to offer a full range of motorcycles for any kind of riding level for youngsters to progress, as well as adult novice to professional level MXGP and Supercross.

To get a bigger sensation of the new models watch the new KTM SX MY16 Action Video, contact your local KTM Dealer or visit the all new KTM Website.
