The new Ducati Scrambler apparel collection arrives in stores

The new Ducati Scrambler apparel collection arrives at Ducati dealerships and in the online store. The Milestone capsule collection combines the iconic identity that has always distinguished the brand with a colourful and modern design that underlines the concepts of authenticity, stylistic innovation and lifestyle.

The new Ducati Scrambler line, consisting of men’s and women’s jackets with soft-shell fabric protectors, gloves and an Arai jet helmet, perfectly compliments the more casual Ducati-branded garments, such as technical jeans and leather jackets with a decidedly urban flavour. More advanced and fun than ever, this collection is perfect for riding through the urban jungle and pushing your limits.

The Milestone capsule collection clothing is in fact characterised by a casual, outdoor and contemporary style, for both motorbike and everyday use. Among the main novelties is the  SCR62 Milestone fabric jacket, produced by Spidi for Ducati, which represents the perfect mix of comfort and practicality in full Ducati Scrambler style. Available in men’s and women’s versions, it features a 3-layer softshell fabric exterior with a windproof and breathable membrane and inner microfleece for maximum thermal comfort. The interior is constructed from a high-dispersion polyester mesh lining and a detachable thermal jacket that can be used separately, making the garment perfect for use in the city even once you’re off the saddle.

Since it is also equipped with protectors on the shoulders and elbows and prepared for the insertion of a back protector, this jacket is perfect for a trip out of town. The high versatility is also underlined by the special design of this garment in which the colours – inspired by nature – match many versions of the urban bikes in the range. The SCR62 Milestone jacket is the ideal garment to enjoy the urban experience with the perfect look designed by the Ducati Centro Stile.
The Milestone SCR62 motorbike gloves, made of high-strength stretch fabric and leather-like microfibre, have thermoformed polyurethane protectors on the knuckles and adjustable Velcro™ fastening. The anti-slip strap on the wrist increases comfort to allow for a better fit. The fit is soft and comfortable and the nature-inspired colours are ideal for urban use.

The Milestone helmet , created by the Ducati Centro Stile on an Arai base, features a minimalist and sophisticated design. It is designed for a urban use, but is also suitable for touring. The outer shell is rigid and resistant and offers excellent protection in case of impact. Inside is a patented, differentiated density EPS shell, characterised by areas whose compactness varies depending on the area to be protected. In addition to high protection, the helmet also offers a wide field of vision, thanks to the visor equipped with a variable axis opening system. The ventilation system and the natural, ergonomic shape of the shell help stabilise the helmet at high speeds and reduce turbulence, maximising comfort and making the helmet perfect even for long rides.
Finally, the collection includes a wide Sportswear range with which to express your passion every day and wear an explosion of colours: sweatshirts and t-shirts for every occasion.

The unmistakable Ducati Scrambler style is also a protagonist of the art world. The unique version of the Ducati Scrambler Icon characterised by the special covers created by Van Orton Design, already protagonist in Europe during the Next-Gen Tour, is in fact exhibited as a work of art inside the Palazzina Azzurra of San Benedetto del Tronto in the context of “Prospettiva Van Orton”, the personal exhibition dedicated to the creativity of the Turin duo, among the most important exponents of digital art worldwide.

Apparel Ducati Scrambler novelties are available from the Bologna-based manufacturer’s dealer network and online at Shop.Ducati.com.

Roaring with Majesty: A Royal Enfield Classic 350

Many thanks to Lucy at Shellwood Blake and Royal Enfield UK these past two weeks I have manage to quality time with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. This will be my first experience with a Royal Enfield and on the whole it was enjoyable.

The Royal Enfield brand has a rich heritage dating back to the year 1901 when it was first established here in England. Since then, it has become one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in the world.

The company’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality has earned it a loyal fan base globally. In 1955, the iconic Indian company, Madras Motors, acquired the Royal Enfield brand, making it an integral part of the Indian motorcycle industry. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been in production since 2008.

One of the defining features of the Classic 350 is its exquisite design, which seamlessly blends classic aesthetics with modern-day engineering. Inspired by the post-war era motorcycles, the Classic 350 exudes a vintage charm that is hard to resist.

From its timeless fuel tank design to its vintage-style headlamp and exhaust, every element of this motorcycle reflects meticulous attention to detail. Despite its retro design, the Classic 350 incorporates modern technologies such as an dual channel ABS, LED tail lights, and an electric start, ensuring a perfect balance between nostalgia and contemporary functionality.

It has a low-slung, comfortable seat that is perfect for long journeys for the rider but also for the pillion. The handlebars are ergonomically designed to provide a comfortable grip and the footpegs are adjustable to suit your riding style.

Furthermore, the distinct thump of the Royal Enfield exhaust has become synonymous with the Classic 350, ensuring that heads turn wherever it goes. With its stylish instrument cluster, including a speedometer and odometer, the Classic 350 offers modern conveniences while maintaining its classic allure.

Beyond its classic looks, the Classic 350 packs a punch when it comes to performance. The all new Royal Enfield Classic 350 offers ample torque with 20.2 BHP @ 6100 RPM and 27 Nm @ 4000 rpm. Assembled with a twin downtube spine frame for a comfortable ride, 350 cc single cylinder, fuel injected air cooled engine, 13 litres of fuel capacity, a ground clearance of 170 mm and single and dual channel ABS.

In Conclusion
The Classic 350 is a great choice for riders who want a classic-style motorcycle with modern safety features. It has a comfortable seat, a good engine, and a number of safety features that make it a great choice. My only personal gripe is the gap between the foot peg and gear shift is small and as such I couldn’t wear my favorite boots as I struggled to change gear.

What I also like about it is (like the BSA Gold Star I rode last week) the Classic 350 isn’t dripping in chrome (anyone who know me knows not a fan of loads of chrome). I think the 350 is a perfect city commuter bike especially for someone who has just passed their test or has short legs or doesn’t like a big heavy bike.

New Triumph Showroom Opening in Edinburgh

The rejuvenated dealership, Edinburgh Triumph, reopened on Saturday 22nd July 2023, as the showroom becomes a part of the new Triumph retail concept.

A whole host of activities took place on Saturday 22nd July to celebrate the dealer’s official re-opening. To celebrate, the dealership had some special bikes on display including the TE-1 prototype, Street Triple 765 Moto2TM edition and the Scrambler 1200 XE featured in the 25th James Bond film No Time To Die. Special guests included representatives from the IAM road smart team, Motorcycle Law Scotland, and The Curvy Riders.

Guests were able to take a behind the scenes look at the new workshop, take in the live music and complementary food and drink throughout the day.

The Edinburgh Triumph dealership is a significant presence in Scotland’s Triumph network. After Triumph’s rebirth in October 1990, Two Wheels Co-Founder Andrew Winton was excited at the prospect of owning and retailing Triumph bikes. Later that year Triumph set out to recruit a dealer network and in January 1991 Two Wheels became one of Triumph’s first dealers.

Devron Boulton, Triumph GB General Manager quote: “Edinburgh Triumph has been a valuable part of the Triumph family for many years, and we are delighted that they have upgraded their dealership to meet the new dealer standards. The dealership always provides high levels of customer service and has a huge offering of the new motorcycle line up”.

Neil Roberts, Edinburgh Triumph Managing Director Quote: “Edinburgh are proud to have been a part of the Triumph family since 1991 and thrive off delivering the latest 2023 models to the local Triumph owners and riders. We hope our customers enjoy the new dealership and look forward to meeting them all!”.

Motocross | Turning up the heat!

To GASGAS, it doesn’t really matter if you ride motocross for fun or if you race to win. What matters is making sure that all five of our new bikes deliver the very best performance for guaranteed good times in the dirt. For 2024, we’re really turning up the heat in the moto scene. Starting with our little 2-stroke ripper – our beloved MC 125 – through to the MXGP race winning MC 450F 4-stroke, we really do have a bike to suit all types of riders.

GASGAS motocross models are already the best handling dirt bikes out there, but that didn’t stop our engineers from making them perform even better! With each one assembled using new steel frames, new aluminum subframes, and new swingarms, the perfect combination of razor-sharp cornering and straight-line stability is further refined to maximise the fun factor. And to bring our MC 125 and MC 250 2-strokes bang up to date, both bikes fire into life with the simple press of the new electric start button – none of that kickstart nonsense here! Plus, they’re now fuelled by cutting-edge throttle body injection for a crisper response and much-improved on-track performance.

Across the board, all 2024 models are now powered by new, lighter motors, which produce both more torque and high-revving power than ever before. They’re then fitted neatly inside new frames with a slight backwards tilt to lower the front sprocket, centralise the weight, and make the best handling motocross bikes on the planet handle even better!

Technical Highlights Motocross

  • New frame – Engineered to be stable at speed, the new frames retain their best-in-class cornering ability and give improved rider feedback.

Enduro | It’s time to rock ‘n’ roll!

So easy, and so much fun to ride. That’s what makes our new generation of enduro bikes so competitive! Spicing up the riding experience in the woods, on the trails, and through every extreme section, these new bikes are as good as it gets when it comes to enduro performance. New bodywork not only makes these bikes easy on the eye, but once onboard, riders will soon notice the larger, and smoother, contact areas, allowing for tighter grip as you get on the gas across challenging terrain. It’s 2024. It’s time to rock ‘n’ roll!

We’ve also added two new models – an EC 450F and an EC 500F. Both big-bore bikes are more suited to open, flowy trails and feature all the same top-level components as the rest of the range. We’re talking Braktec brakes, WP suspension, and enduro-specific PANKL transmissions. Knowing just how beneficial a rear suspension linkage is, we’ve fitted to every GASGAS enduro bike, to make sure that each one soaks up small chop and hard hits with ease. Make no mistake, the best enduro bikes out there just got even better for 2024!

The outgoing generation of GASGAS enduro bikes was already super agile through the trees and super stable at higher speeds. However, thanks to the new motors across the range being both lighter and more powerful, the handling characteristics are amplified further! This was achieved by our engineers repositioning the motors inside the new frames to centralise weight and balance things out a little better. Sounds like a small change, but will soon become evident on the trails.

Technical Highlights Enduro

  • New frame – Engineered to be stable at speed while remaining incredibly agile through tight and twisty trails, the new frame amplifies the riding experience for everyone.
  • New aluminum subframe – Strong, reliable, and plays a vital role in the ergonomics and handling of each bike.
  • New die-cast aluminum swingarm – Light, strong, and offering just the right amount of flex!
  • New bodywork – Refined rider triangle gives larger contact areas so riders can better grip the bike for improved control.
  • WP XPLOR front fork with open cartridge – Undergoing plenty of technical changes to further improve performance and overall handling, the WP XPLOR forks are a little longer, assembled with new settings, and remain easily adjustable by hand.
  • WP XACT rear shock with rear linkage – Shorter and lighter yet retaining 300mm of travel, the WP XACT shock features a new piston for improved comfort. And to make sure the shock action is always consistent and progressive, all GASGAS enduro bikes are equipped with a linkage.
  • New forged triple clamps – Featuring a new steering stem that offers a little more flex for improved comfort.
  • New Braktec brakes – With brake disks unique to GASGAS and new calipers front and rear, it’s never been easier to keep things under control in the woods.
  • Neken Handlebars – Made from high-strength aluminum and with a bar bend unique to GASGAS, durability and comfort are guaranteed while a bigger bar pad improves safety.
  • New footpegs – Bigger is definitely better when it comes to footpegs, which means the new GASGAS bikes offer better control in all conditions.
  • New Throttle Body Injection with separate oil tank for 2 strokes – Bringing our 2-stroke enduro dirt bikes bang up to date, Throttle Body Injection makes sure the motors run clean, crisp, and create strong power throughout the rev range.
  • New electronic exhaust control 2 strokes – Controlling how the exhaust ports open, the new electronic powervalve improves durability while boosting torque.

Reviving Greatness: Exploring the Timeless Charm of the BSA Gold Star

Many thanks to Alfs Motorcycles (particularly Mick) in Worthing, West Sussex for the loan of bike for the day. Just to emphasise Alf’s Motorcycles are now BSA as well as Kawasaki dealers and have a new dedicated showroom in the rear of the premises.

Normally would get a couple of weeks to spend with review bike but today I spent the day with the 2022 BSA Gold Star that said it was plenty of time to get an idea of the bike. I love the look, colour and feel of the Gold Star,  I’m not a huge fan of chrome and its used pretty sparingly on this bike. Whilst I can appreciate modern bikes with their TFT screens that look like the starship Enterprise there’s just something reassuring about old fashioned speedos. The BSA transports you back in time to the golden days of British motorcycling (no I wasn’t alive then) but without the dread of reliability issues.

The Gold Star can trace its roots back to the original of the 1930s, there is something magical about embracing the timeless allure of a classic motorcycle. The Gold Star is back with a bang, paying homage to its legendary predecessors whilst introducing innovative features that cater to the demands of today’s motorcycle enthusiasts.

Underneath its elegant exterior, the 2022 BSA Gold Star boasts a powerful engine that delivers exceptional performance. Equipped with a high-performance liquid-cooled 45bhp, 652cc single cylinder DOHC, 4v engine, this motorcycle offers a thrilling riding experience. The advanced technology incorporated in the engine ensures smooth acceleration and optimal fuel efficiency. With its cutting-edge fuel injection system and state-of-the-art electronics, the Goldstar guarantees an exhilarating ride for every rider.

The Gold Star is designed with the comfort and convenience of the rider in mind. The ergonomics of the bike are carefully crafted to provide a comfortable riding position, reducing fatigue on longer journeys. The plush seating and well-positioned handlebars offer optimal control and stability, allowing riders to maneuver with ease. Additionally, the suspension system is fine-tuned to absorb shocks and vibrations, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride even on challenging terrains.

When it comes to safety, the bike is equipped with Brembo brakes, including anti-lock braking technology, ensuring precise and controlled stopping power. The responsive traction control system provides enhanced stability, preventing wheel slip during acceleration or cornering. Additionally it features powerful LED headlights and taillights, improving visibility and alerting other road users to your presence.

In Conclusion
The 2022 BSA Gold Star encapsulates the essence of British motorcycle heritage whilst embracing modern advancements. The legendary status, impeccable craftsmanship, and unmatched performance of the Gold Star make it a motorcycle that captivates riders and enthusiasts across generations. With the revival of this iconic model, BSA proves its commitment to preserving its legacy and delivering motorcycles that stand the test of time. It is the embodiment of power, elegance, and innovation it marks a new chapter in the extraordinary history of this British motorcycle legend.

Monster 30° Anniversario: Ducati celebrates the motorcycle symbol of the naked world

Ducati celebrates 30 years of the Monster with a model in a numbered series limited to 500 units. The Monster 30° Anniversario version is the Bologna based manufacturer’s tribute to a motorcycle that revolutionised the world of two wheels and which since 1993 has won over the passion of more than 350,000 Monsteristi all over the world.

The Monster has always been this: a sporty engine, perfect for road use, chassis derived from the Superbike, wide handlebars and no fairing. An idea as simple as it is effective, which made it possible to create the motorcycle that reinvented the naked segment and which over the years has evolved several times while always remaining faithful to the original idea. This special version also maintains the iconic features of the Monster models: an unmistakable style and maximum fun on the road. Its true nature emerges at the very first glance thanks to the Tricolour 30th Anniversary livery inspired by the sportiest Monsters of the past. This livery celebrates Made in Italy, of which Ducati is an ambassador, and is embellished by the gold colour of the rims, specially made for this model, and of the Öhlins NIX30 fork. Other distinctive elements of this model are a seat embellished with an embroidered 30-year logo and the dedicated animation of the dashboard that starts when the ignition is switched on. Finally, each motorcycle is made unique by a plate on the upper clamp with the model’s name and copy number, certificate of authenticity and dedicated motorcycle cover. The Monster 30° Anniversario is equipped with components which, in addition to enhancing its appearance, also improve its dynamic qualities and allow it to arrive at a curb weight of 184 kg, or 4 kg less than the standard model, already the benchmark in the category for lightness. This milestone is even more important if we consider that components, and therefore weight, such as the steering damper and the windshield have been added compared to the standard model.
The Monster, a modern reinterpretation of the original recipe, is a light, easy-to-handle and fast motorcycle. It is powered by the Testastretta 11° engine, a liquid-cooled 4-valve twin-cylinder with desmodromic timing and 111 horsepower. An extremely reliable and undemanding engine from the point of view of maintenance, thanks to main intervals spread over time (15,000 km for oil changes and 30,000 km for valve clearance checks). It has a full power delivery curve at all revs, especially at medium-low ones, the most used on the road. This means a more responsive engine, which translates into greater riding pleasure.

Extremely functional and effective, the chassis of the new Monster transfers the inspiring principles of the Ducati Superbikes to a road bike. The engine is load-bearing, and a Front Frame is connected to it which conceptually recalls that of the Panigale V4.
The fully adjustable Öhlins suspension  boasts a fork that is 0.6 kg lighter than the one used on the Monster and Monster+, and improves the feeling, as well as increasing ground clearance and consequently lean angle. The suspension setup is sporty, and this allows the Monster 30° Anniversario to give great fun when riding on mixed roads, but also between the curbs of a circuit. The Öhlins equipment is completed with an adjustable steering damper that increases precision and accuracy at the highest pace.

The braking system features Brembo Stylema® front calipers (-0.4 kg than the ones on the Monster) and aluminium flanges for the 320 mm front brake discs (0.5 kg lighter than standard on the Monster) and makes the Monster 30° Anniversario perform better in braking and nimbler thanks to a reduction of inertia at the front end. The bike’s nimble character is further improved thanks to the brand-new forged rims, which reduce unsprung weight by 1.86 kg , decreasing the moment of inertia of the front wheel by 21.8% and the rear by 26.9%.
The electronics of the Monster are at the top of the segment. Standard equipment includes ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control, all of which can be adjusted to different levels of intervention. The sporty character of the new Monster 30° Anniversario is also highlighted by the Launch Control which ensures lightning-fast starts. This top-of-the-range motorcycle equipment, which also includes the adoption of a lithium battery that contributes to the reduction of the total weight of the motorcycle, allows the Monster 30° Anniversario to safely express its performance.

The three Riding Modes – Sport, Road and Wet – allow the Monster’s character to be shaped according to the rider’s tastes and needs. Everything is easily managed through the handlebar controls and the 4.3″ colour TFT dashboard, featuring racing graphics that recall those of the Panigale V4, with a large rev counter and a complete set of information on the left, including that of the gear engaged.

Yamaha Off Road Competition range celebrates 50 Years of YZ

50 years of winning. 50 years of innovation. 50 years of YZ.

Yamaha was born to race. Right from day one Yamaha put competition at the heart of its operations. And 50 years ago, Yamaha launched its first YZ production motocross models – the same year that the company won its first ever Motocross World Championship with Hakan Andersson on a factory YZM250. It was the beginning of a new era for the sport, and over the last half century Yamaha has established itself as one of the most innovative and competitive brands in the 4-stroke and 2-stroke classes.

Yamaha are marking this significant moment in the company’s history with an all new YZ250F that has been created with the immense knowledge gained during half a century of competition in every major GP category.

To commemorate 50 successful years since the first Yamaha YZ models made a lasting impact on the motocross racing world, the 2024 line-up will include exclusive YZ250F, YZ450F, YZ250 and YZ125 50th Anniversary Edition models. Featuring racing white bodywork, purple seats, black wheels and retro-styled purple/pink graphics, these 50th Anniversary Edition bikes offer every Yamaha rider the chance to be a part of this very special occasion.

The 50th Anniversary Edition colouring is inspired by the bold designs used on the YZ250 and YZ125 in the mid-1990s – a period of transition for Yamaha motocross machines which was soon to be followed by the arrival of the first YZ 4-stroke in 1998 and the beginning of a new era of ‘Yamaha Blue’ colours for the company’s Off Road Competition models.

The introduction of the new YZ250F reinforces the range to make the 2024 Yamaha Off Road Competition line-up stronger than ever – with a diverse choice of 4-strokes, 2-strokes, motocross, enduro, youth and kids’ bikes.

New generation YZ250F: Lighter, sharper and more advanced
The YZ250F has proved beyond doubt that it is one of the most competitive 250cc 4-stroke motocross bikes at every level. With a distinguished race winning record in Motocross Grand Prix and US Supercross – as well as three consecutive MX2 Manufacturer’s World Championships – this bike is a born winner.

For the 2024 model year Yamaha introduce the new generation YZ250F that features an all-new YZ450F-based frame, ultra-compact bodywork, increased mid to high speed power and improved tuning functionalities with the new Power Tuner App. By retaining the highly acclaimed strengths of the existing model, the 2024 YZ250F is designed to give an easier, smoother and faster ride.

All-new YZ450F-based aluminium frame
The new generation YZ250F is equipped with an all-new aluminium frame that has been proven on the latest YZ450F. This new frame provides lighter and easier handling and gives more feedback – enabling the rider to push harder and exploit more fully the YZ250F’s powerful low to mid rpm torque.

The key improvement on the new lightweight frame is the relocation of the head pipe which is now 15mm lower – a significant change which centralizes the bike’s mass for increased handling agility and quicker directional changes. The new head pipe is also thinner and lighter and contributes towards the reduced weight of the new YZ250F.

To match the new head pipe the tank rails are also mounted much lower for 2024 and incorporate a new U-shaped profile at the rear that changes the frame’s balance of rigidity in order to achieve an idealized degree of controlled flex. With its revised layout giving a lower centre of gravity – combined with improved shock absorption – the all-new chassis promotes the sense of rider/machine unity and delivers faster and more agile cornering.

Completely new slimline bodywork with flatter seat
All-new bodywork gives the new YZ250F a much tighter, lighter and slimmer look and feel, and this contributes towards making the bike easier, smoother and faster. The complete bodywork is new for 2024, and like the new frame, is based on the successful design used on the latest YZ450F.

The shroud width is 50mm narrower, making it easier for the rider to shift bodyweight forwards. Rider mobility is also enhanced by the new seamless seat which is 6mm narrower and also much flatter, with the height difference between the front and rear reduced by 15mm for the 2024 model.

The compact, newly designed front fender promotes better airflow to the radiators for improved cooling efficiency – and the short and flat rear fender and slim side panels further enhance the tighter and lighter look of this new generation 250cc 4-stroke.

Revised rider triangle
Subtle but significant improvements are made to the YZ250F’s ergonomics with detail changes to the geometry of the rider triangle. The new flatter seat is 5mm higher, while footpegs are mounted 5mm lower, giving a total 10mm increase for a more flexible leg position. Handlebar position is relocated closer back towards the rider, and together with the new seat and footpeg positions this gives improved ergonomics and increased controllability, enabling the rider to optimize the increased agility of the new chassis.

Optimized KYB suspension settings
The KYB suspension is widely regarded as being one of the best in class, and for 2024 the new generation YZ250F’s forks and rear shock internals are added to bring out the optimum performance of the new frame. Revised front and rear damping settings offer improved shock absorption and traction, and a new hand adjustable compression damping system on the front forks makes suspension set up quicker and easier.

For added protection against scratches and debris the fork shrouds wrap further around the sides of the inner tubes, and for increased durability the KYB forks are equipped with new long-lip seals that prevent dirt ingress.

Improved rear brake feel
The rear brake plays a key role in directional changes as well as effective corner entry and also when adjusting machine angle when in the air, and the degree of feel transmitted to the rider is crucial for maintaining control. For this reason, the YZ250F is equipped with a new rear hose with reduced rigidity that improves the balance of the brake input and gives the rider more accurate control.

Increased performance by efficient air management and FI setting
A new high efficiency air management system is used on the new YZ250F, with air now entering the airbox via a new rear duct system as featured on the MXGP and AMA SX race winning YZ450F. The compact new bodywork features ducts in the new side panels, frame and tank that channel fresh air into a new high capacity round profile air filter with a 30% increase in clean-side capacity – and the lower case is now made from rubber instead of plastic to promote air intake pulsation. The new rear duct air flow design contributes towards the increased mid to high speed performance and over rev characteristics of the 250cc 4-stroke reverse-head engine.

A new ECU features updated fuel and ignition mapping that is designed to optimize the performance gains achieved by the various engine changes. Riders familiar with the current model will feel the increased mid to high range performance that, together with the bike’s legendary low to mid-range torque, make the new YZ250F even more competitive in all conditions.

Low friction cam chain
The YZ250F engine is renowned for its strong low to mid-range torque and high levels of controllability in different conditions, and these strengths have made it one of the leading 250cc 4-strokes in motocross. Yamaha’s engineers have concentrated on retaining all of the positive attributes of this winning engine for 2024, while also working hard to increase its high speed performance.

To accommodate the increased performance the YZ250F is equipped with a new low friction cam chain that is wider and more durable. The DOHC engine also features new camchain sprockets as well as new tensioner settings that optimize the efficiency of the uprated engine.

New adjustable Traction Control System
The 2024 YZ250F is equipped with a new Traction Control System that offers two levels of assistance as well as an OFF function. Operated by the latest Power Tuner App, this system is designed to give the rider increased controllability on wet or loose surfaces – and by preventing the machine losing traction entirely it enables the rider to fully concentrate on the track ahead.

Launch Control System
The YZ250F benefits from a new Launch Control System with ‘Rev limit’ function that gives the rider the option to set with maximum launch rpm between 6.000 rpm and 11.000 rpm in 500 rpm increments. This launch Control allows the rider to power off the line at full throttle and concentrate fully on getting the holeshot.

When the launch control system recognizes that the start has been completed the Rev limit function automatically turns off and when 3rd gear is reached the Launch Control system is deactivated.

Next generation simplified Power Tuner App
Yamaha’s Power Tuner App is one of the most significant developments in recent years. The company was an early pioneer of wireless engine tuning, and the latest generation system is designed to be even easier to use. The 2024 YZ250F Power Tuner App now features a “Quick Tuning” option with a scrollbar that runs from ‘Smooth’ to ‘Aggressive’. It’s the easiest and most intuitive system ever used on the bike, and it is designed for superfast trackside tuning.

And the latest Power Tuner retains the 4×4 matrix that allows detailed mapping changes designed for professional teams that want to achieve the ultimate performance – and there’s a new multifunction switch that enables the YZ250F rider to switch between two uploaded mappings during a session.

The Power Tuner App can also be used to set the YZ250F’s traction control and launch control parameters, and the system can also record lap by lap data, allowing the team and rider to evaluate the effectiveness of various different mapping settings. Furthermore, the App features a suspension set up section that offers advice and suggested settings to suit different riding situations.

YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition
It is 50 years since the Yamaha brand entered the motocross scene with its first production bikes, and during this half century the company’s YZ models have established themselves as some of the most competitive and innovative machines in every major category.

The new YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition celebrates this significant chapter in the YZ’s history, and also highlights Yamaha’s first ever Motocross World Championship title. Featuring an exclusive 1990’s inspired historic colour scheme together with all of the sophisticated technology found on the latest generation YZ250F, this 50th Anniversary Edition gives riders the chance to own an exclusive machine. 100 Dealers, 4 Year Factory Warranty And One Special Edition Launched

100 dealers, 4 year factory warranty and one special edition launched: The superb first half of 2023 for MV Agusta.

The sixth month of the partnership between MV Agusta and PIERER Mobility AG has just concluded closing the first successful period of a collaboration that is already bringing the Schiranna-based brand to the height to which it belongs.

100 Dealers
The MV Agusta distribution network, which is being re-established with the target of opening 180 selected retail stores within the end of 2023, has reached the 100th business partner at the very beginning of July, perfectly on target with the objectives set by the board.

MV Agusta dealerships are being appointed worldwide among the best already-existing MV dealerships, the best selected PIERER Mobility AG retailers and business partners coming from the premium automotive industry.

Enhanced customer care: 4-year warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance
The first half of 2023 saw a crucial milestone for MV Agusta being set: a 4-year factory warranty is now provided on all model year 2023 bikes. Such a strategic decision represents a further step ahead towards the customer-centric approach that the Schiranna-based brand is implementing in every aspect of the business. The 4-year warranty comes not only as a plus to MV Agusta customers, but it is also a clear proof of the trust that the company has in its fully Made-in-Italy motorcycles, and in the processes that each bike goes through before being sent to their customers.

On top of that, allowing owners to focus only on the pleasure of riding their MV Agustas, in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain and UK (more countries to follow), MV Agusta provides a service activated lifetime 24/7 roadside assistance included in the purchase of any MV Agusta motorcycle.
Customers, in case of an issue, are looked after through repair on the spot, towing to an authorised MV Agusta dealer/service point, technical assistance, transportation to destination and many other services such as replacement vehicle, repatriation of the vehicle from abroad, accommodation etc.

The icing on the cake: the Dragster RR SCS America
The icing on the cake of the first six months of 2023 for MV Agusta, is represented by the launch of a new exclusive limited edition: The Dragster RR SCS America edition.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the launch of the iconic 750 S, which flaunted the colours of the American flag, this latest 300-units America edition pays homage to a bloodline of red, white and blue MV Agusta motorcycles that have celebrated, in the last five decades, the importance of MV’s most relevant market.

Available only for the North American market, the Dragster RR SCS America, has already generated unbelievable interest.

VIP Customers were, in fact, given the opportunity of previewing the model before the public reveal and, at the moment of the launch, most of the units were already allocated, further proving how MV Agusta is considered as more than just a motorcycle brand by enthusiasts and collectors.

Luca Martin (COO and Board Member – MV Agusta Motor S.p.A.) “With the purchase of an MV Agusta, customers enter a brand that stands for the highest quality and attention to detail combined with the superb customer-centric approach of our renewed dealer network. I am proud of what we have been able to achieve in the first half of 2023, and I must credit the team in Varese for their commitment and for how well everyone has been able to work together with our new partner, PIERER Mobility AG. These initial results are just a taste of what the future of MV Agusta will look like.”

BMW Motorrad presents BMW Motorrad Welt

With BMW Motorrad Welt, BMW Motorrad is creating its own world of experience around everything to do with the brand and its motorcycles for the first time in its 100-year history.

The location was not chosen at random, but is set right in the heart of BMW Motorrad production, on the grounds of the Berlin-Spandau plant – precisely where BMW motorcycles have been built since 1969. Behind a historic brick façade at the Julius Tower in Spandau lies the birthplace of BMW motorcycles. BMW Motorrad Welt will move into an equally historic listed building built between 1914 and 1917 when it opens on 28 September 2023.

BMW Motorrad Welt: Home of the brand.
“With BMW Motorrad Welt, we are giving our brand a home directly where our motorcycles are manufactured in Berlin. BMW Motorrad Welt will be our new “Home of the Brand”. On an area covering around 1,000 square metres, we are creating a full-scale brand experience that connects BMW Motorrad with its community, the public and employees in a highly emotional, authentic and lively way. Experiences range from the interactive presentation of current BMW Motorrad products, exciting plant tours and unique gastronomy to events as well as external and internal booking options. BMW Motorrad Welt offers a unique and fascinating platform for an emotional get-together on everything BMW Motorrad,” says Dr. Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad, summarising the cornerstones of BMW Motorrad Welt.

Interactive exhibitions and exciting plant tours.
The heart of BMW Motorrad Welt are the interactively presented current BMW Motorrad vehicles, complemented by special exhibitions – on the subject of customizing, for example – as well as selected highlights from the BMW Motorrad Gear & Garment Collection and Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.

From Monday to Friday, the plant gates also open up for visitors who want to immerse themselves in the fascinating way BMW motorcycles are manufactured. More than 2,200 employees produce about 900 vehicles of the Sport, Tour, Roadster, Heritage, Adventure and Urban Mobility segments every day on an area of nearly 220,000 square metres. A finished vehicle comes off the assembly line about every 60 seconds.

The BMW Group plant in Berlin is one of the most steeped-in-tradition and at the same time most innovative industrial locations in Berlin and the region.

A guided tour of the plant grounds and through the production halls is the perfect opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of BMW Motorrad manufacturing.  And that’s not only just for enthusiastic motorbike fans.

Emotional platform for diverse events as well booking availability.
With its spacious and emotional room concept, BMW Motorrad Welt offers unique opportunities for carrying out a wide variety of events. Be it conferences, interactive workshops, meetings, closed room events, incentives or celebrations – BMW Motorrad Welt always creates the right, fascinating setting and also offers its premises for internal and external hire.

Thrilling live broadcasts or a meet & greet with hip motorbike VIPs are just as much a permanent fixture at BMW Motorrad Welt as are repair workshops, living room concerts, autograph sessions with well-known artists and the Motorcycle Cinema. And no matter what there is to experience – at BMW Motorrad Welt it all becomes a unique experience.

Opening of the BMW Motorrad Welt on 28 September 2023.
BMW Motorrad Welt will be opened in a festive setting on 28 September 2023. Around 150 guests from politics, the press, culture and sport are expected, as well as brand ambassadors and contemporary witnesses from the 100-year history of BMW Motorrad.

The following day, on 29 September 2023, another highlight awaits invited guests with the grand finale of the BMW Motorrad Customizing Championship based on the BMW R 18 models.

Yamaha R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Limited Edition

Yamaha Commemorate 25 Years of the Iconic R1 with Exclusive Race Developed Performance Package

To mark the 25th Anniversary of the iconic R1, Yamaha Motor Europe through their GYTR PRO Shop network, will offer customers the unique opportunity to experience  world championship winning performance, courtesy of a range of Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GYTR®) PRO performance parts  developed alongside Yamaha’s World Superbike and Endurance World Championship race programs.

Designed by the same engineers at Yamaha Motor Research & Development Europe (YMRE) responsible for the development of the World Championship winning R1 WorldSBK machine, the range of GYTR PRO performance parts makes WorldSBK performance available to Yamaha customers for the first time.

The range of GYTR PRO performance parts for the R1 includes but is not limited to an ultra-strong and lightweight carbon rear subframe that has been designed to accommodate both a modified fuel tank with a lower centre of gravity and the Magneti Marelli ECU. Öhlins FGR front forks and a TTX rear shock with pneumatic preload adjuster offer more predicable handling and the same level of suspension adjustment available to Yamaha’s professional road racers. An underslung swingarm, developed specifically for Yamaha’s WorldSBK race program, improves maximum lean angle and rear grip, while Brembo braking components front and rear provide the ultimate stopping power. The carbon fibre bodywork is ultra-strong, lightweight and has been designed together with the screen to offer optimal aerodynamic performance.

Also available is a GYTR PRO Electronic System (GPES) module, a state-of-the-art package for engine control and data acquisition developed by YMRE in WorldSBK and the FIM Endurance World Championship. The GPES features the most up-to-date electronic software rider aids, such as anti-wheelie, launch control, engine braking management, adjustable fuelling, and traction control, and is supplied with a ready-to-go base setting that provides an excellent starting point for finetuning on track.

2023 R1 GYTR PRO

Creating such a range of unique performance parts has taken years of development at the very highest level, with Yamaha WorldSBK riders Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Andrea Locatelli, along with test rider Niccolò Canepa, all playing crucial roles in the development process. Fittingly, Yamaha Ambassador, and nine-time World Champion, Valentino Rossi, was presented with an R1 equipped with a selection of GYTR PRO performance parts during the introduction of the GYTR PRO concept at EICMA.

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the R1, Yamaha Motor Europe has commissioned an exclusive run of 25 R1 machines that will be hand built from the chassis up and will feature the full range of GYTR PRO performance parts. The R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary will be assembled exclusively by experienced technicians in one of the the 25 GYTR PRO Shops across Europe and will be immediately identifiable as the ultimate track day tool courtesy of the special commemorative livery adorning the race developed carbon fibre bodywork.

The R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary, which boasts a specification as close to that of Yamaha’s world championship race bikes as it is possible to get, is only available to order online, with customers also able to specify at which GYTR Pro Shop the bike will be prepared to their exact requirements.

To ensure that they can fully realise the incredible potential of their R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary machines, each of the 25 owners will also spend a day at a race circuit with a team of dedicated Yamaha technicians. After initial set-up at the track, owners will be run through exactly the same process that Yamaha’s world championship teams use with riders such as Toprak Razgatlıoğlu to fine tune the settings of the bike to match their specific riding style.

Crowning the prestigious Forza range, the Forza 750 is the ultimate city slicker offering an exciting ride and luxurious comfort wrapped in high-tech style. It’s a big-bore scooter that impresses in all areas. Effortless acceleration is on tap from its torquey 745cc twin-cylinder engine, equipped with Throttle By Wire, 3 default riding modes and 3 Level Honda Selectable Torque Control. A tubular steel frame, aluminium swingarm, Pro-Link rear suspension and 17/15-inch front/rear wheels provide surefooted handling, with strong braking from dual radial-mount four-piston front calipers. The under-seat storage will hold a full-face helmet and houses a USB-C charger; all lighting is LED and a 5-inch TFT display allows smartphone connectivity via the new Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. A 35kW version is also available for A2 licence holders.

For 24YM, a vibrant new colour, and two new twists to existing colours, including a stylish ‘blacked out’ version, keep the Forza 750 fresh and further enhance its desirability.

  1. Introduction

Since 2000, Honda’s Forza range of scooters have been a powerful force in Europe, with brand-within-brand levels of recognition. The success is down to a compelling combination of ingredients: the classic Grand Touring (GT) elements of strong road presence and genuine comfort for two have always been mixed in the Forza recipe with sporty, agile handling and lusty engine performance that makes every ride a blast.

Furthermore, every Forza model has always been known as a supremely smart, stylish and premium product, loaded with useful features that make life on the move that much easier, with a build quality and styling that exudes class. In 2021 the Forza 125 and Forza 350 were joined by a large capacity sibling, the Forza 750.

Fast, agile and luxurious, the Forza 750 launched to critical acclaim and has made its presence felt in a hotly-contested segment of the market. As equipped for the daily commute, in and out of town, as it is for a weekend tour, it is the epitome of quality and practicality. A rational choice, yes, but true to its Forza pedigree, it’s also something else – a whole load of stylish fun.

Following in the tyre tracks of the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, in 2021 the Forza 750 won the prestigious Red Dot Award for outstanding motorcycle design thanks to it elegant aura, sporty performance and outstanding versatility.

For 24YM, a striking new colour is joined by two new twists to the existing colours, including a stylish ‘blacked out’ version, that further cement its aspirational status.

  1. Model Overview

The Forza 750’s svelte yet curvaceous bodywork offers ample high-speed wind protection, plenty of rider leg room and low seat height without excess bulk. The underseat storage space will take a full-face helmet and is equipped with a USB-C charging point; there’s also a handy glovebox. A TFT instrument display offers Honda Smartphone Voice Control system linking the rider to their smartphone. Ignition, locking and seat opening is via Smart Key.

Powered by a torquey, fuel-efficient 745cc twin-cylinder engine, Throttle By Wire (TBW) allows adjustable engine character through 3 default rider modes: RAIN, STANDARD and SPORT, plus a customisable USER mode. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) offers  a fine level of intervention over 3 levels, while the standard-fit Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) features Automatic shifting schedules that link with the riding modes.

A tubular steel frame, aluminium swingarm, 41mm USD forks, radial-mount four-piston brake calipers, Pro-Link rear suspension and 15-inch/17-inch front/rear wheel combination comprise the well-equipped chassis, and deliver sports motorcycle levels of handling in scooter form.

The 24YM Forza 750 will be available in the following colour options:

**NEW** Candy Chromosphere Red with Graphite Black sump guard and trim

‘Blacked out’ Mat Ballistic Black Metallic with NEW gold wheels and gold logos

Iridium Gray Metallic with NEW Graphite Black sump guard and trim

Mat Jeans Blue Metallic

The new version of the Matt Ballistic Black Metallic colour scheme features a striking gold logo and wheels, which are complemented by all-new black engine cases, pivot plate, sump guard/floor skirt and swing arm that are unique to this colour scheme.

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Classy and roomy GT styling provides weather protection for rider and pillion
  • 22L storage space includes USB-C charger, with easy to access front glovebox
  • Honda Smartphone Voice Control system offers smartphone link through new 5-inch TFT display
  • All lighting is LED; the front indicators and mirrors are body-mounted
  • Ignition, lock operation and seat opening via Smart Key

As befits a GT scooter, the Forza 750’s sleek front fairing mounts the mirrors and front indicators and provides ample wind protection for high-speed cruising, without the type of excessive bulk that hinders around-town agility. The screen, too, cocoons rider and pillion in a tranquil pocket of air.

But on top of the all-important riding functionality – and as head of the sophisticated Forza family – the Forza 750 is also a rolling statement of aspiration, with style that exudes premium appeal and a presence that will attract attention whenever, and wherever, it’s ridden.

Of course, the practical details matter. There’s plenty of leg room up front, while the carefully contoured seat is instantly comfortable and also ensures easy ground reach. Seat height is set at 790mm.The under-seat luggage space has 22L volume and accepts a full-face helmet; a USB-C charging socket is located at the rear of the compartment. There’s also a useful, and easy-to-access, glove compartment in the right-side inner fairing.

Incorporated into the rider interface – and viewed through the 5-inch TFT display – is the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system which links the rider to their smartphone while on the move and allows voice management of phone calls, email, music and navigation. A helmet-mounted headset is needed and the smartphone connects to the dash via Bluetooth; management of Honda Smartphone Voice Control is also possible from buttons on the left switchgear.

For added convenience the Forza 750 uses a Smart Key, which lives in the rider’s pocket and does away with the need to use a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. With the Smart Key present, one push of the knob-type main switch powers it up and makes it possible to turn, giving the rider control of the ignition/steering lock and, via two rocker switches, the fuel cap and seat. It also locks and unlocks the optional Smart Top Box, and has an ‘answer back’ function which makes the indicators flash for easy identification from a distance. A clutch mechanism in the main switch stops the handlebars unlocking by force.

The rear indicators have an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function. If negative acceleration of 6.0m/s2 is detected at a minimum speed of 53km/h with either brake working, the hazard lights flash to warn other road users a hard stop is in process. At the same speed the threshold is reduced if ABS is activated to a negative acceleration of a minimum 2.5m/s2.

They also auto-cancel; rather than using a simple timer, the system compares front and rear wheel speed difference and calculates when to cancel the indication relative to the situation.

3.2 Engine

  • Peak power of 1kW, with 69Nm torque and 7,000rpm redline
  • Throttle By Wire engine management
  • 8km/l possible (WMTC mode)
  • 35kW A2 licence version available

The design of the Forza 750’s liquid-cooled, SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine ensures punchy performance in the low-to-mid range. Its relatively long-stroke architecture fto produce large amounts of effortless torque from very low rpm.

Throttle By Wire (TBW) manages engine output and character (see 3.3 Engine Electronics section). Peak power is 43.1kW @ 6,750rpm with maximum torque of 69Nm @ 4,750rpm, capped by a 7,000rpm redline. The Forza 750 will cover 0-50m in 3.9s and at 60km/h the engine is turning over at just 2,500rpm.

Twin balancers counteract vibration from higher rpm inertia without affecting the distinct ‘throb’ delivered by the engine’s irregular firing order and 270° phased crankshaft. Bore and stroke is set at 77 x 80mm. Where possible components are made to do more than one job: the camshaft drives the water pump, while one of the balancer shafts drives the oil pump.

By keeping the number of parts to a minimum in this way, the engine is kept light, efficient and reliable.

For A2 licence holders a 35kW version is available, which can be easily converted to the full power version by a Honda dealer at the appropriate time. Equally, it is possible to restrict the full power version to 35kW by a Honda dealer replacing the standard throttle body and remapping the ECU.

The Forza 750 engine is exceptionally frugal – with a measured consumption of 27.8km/l (WMTC mode) providing a potential 370km cruising range from the 13.2-litre fuel tank.

3.3 Engine Electronics

  • Throttle By Wire delivers 3 default riding modes, plus USER customisation
  • Honda Selectable Torque Control features much finer management and 3 levels of intervention

With TBW managing engine performance and character there are 3 modes for the rider to choose from, covering a wide range of riding conditions. Mode selection is managed between the left-hand switchgear and TFT display.

STANDARD delivers a balanced middle point between engine power delivery, engine braking and HSTC, with high ABS.

SPORT gives more aggressive engine power delivery and braking, with low HSTC intervention and high ABS.

RAIN transmits low engine power delivery and braking, with high HSTC and ABS input.

USER offers custom options of low/medium/high between engine power/braking, low/medium/high/off for HSTC.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) offers unobtrusive operation and refined control as it manages rear wheel torque thanks to TBW, over 3 levels:

Level 1 allows the minimum intervention for the lightest control over rear wheel spin.

Level 2 is the default setting and provides confidence-inspiring traction for general riding conditions.

Level 3 provides maximum control for slippery roads.

HSTC can also be switched OFF.

3.4 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

  • Differing shifting schedules employed depending on riding mode selected
  • USER mode allows choice of 4 settings, from smooth to aggressive

Honda’s DCT technology is now in its 14th year of production, and over 230,000 DCT-equipped Honda two-wheelers have been sold in Europe since 2010. It delivers consistent, seamless gear changes and very quickly becomes second nature in use.

It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears, the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging. Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages.

The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth. Extra benefits include durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear), impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and extra ‘brain space’ to concentrate on pure riding aspects such as riding line, cornering, braking and acceleration points.

The DCT system offers two distinct riding approaches – the Automatic settings, with pre-programmed shift patterns which constantly read vehicle speed, gear selected and engine rpm to decide when a shift should occur, and the Manual Transmission setting for gear changes using the paddle-shift style triggers on the left handlebar.

Through TBW control there are 3 Automatic shifting schedules and USER mode available. Level 1 is the most relaxed, with upshifts and downshifts operating at relatively lower rpm; it is linked with the RAIN riding mode. Level 4, on the other extreme, shifts up at higher rpm and also downshifts earlier for more engine braking effect; it is linked with the SPORT mode. Level 2 is linked with STANDARD riding mode, with Level 3 situated between STANDARD and SPORT.

The USER mode functionality allows the rider to select any of the DCT shift patterns with the preferred permutations of the other parameters – power delivery, engine braking, and HSTC.

3.5 Chassis

  • Tubular steel diamond frame, 41mm USD fork, Pro-Link suspension and aluminium swingarm
  • Radial mount four-piston front brake calipers, 310mm discs and ABS
  • 17/15-inch cast aluminium front and rear wheels

For core strength the Forza 750 uses a rugged tubular steel diamond frame, which neatly packages all ancillaries and gives ample space for the underseat storage area. Rake and trail are set at 27°/104mm with wheelbase of 1580mm. Overall wet weight is 235kg.

The spring preload adjustable rear shock is a single tube split pressure design and operates the aluminium swingarm – constructed from a machined-hollow cross member and U-shaped (in cross section) arms – through Pro-Link.

The 17-inch front and 15-inch rear cast aluminium wheels deliver confident handling and stability; tyres are sized 120/70 R17 and 160/60 R15 front and rear. Dual radial-mount opposed four-piston calipers grip 310mm discs and work through ABS.

2024 Honda X-ADV

The X-ADV has broken new ground with its unique mix of adventure bike ability and big-scooter usefulness and practicality. Its rich specification includes Throttle By Wire management, 4 default riding modes and 3 level Honda Selectable Torque Control. The 22L seat storage compartment includes a USB-C charger while a glovebox adds further convenience. Twin LED headlights feature Daytime Running Lights and a 5-inch TFT display allows smartphone connectivity via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control System.

For 24YM two new Special Editions that headline the X-ADV line-up are joined by an all-new colour, guaranteeing that the X-ADV will continue to turn heads across Europe.

  1. Introduction

It’s not often in the world of motorcycling that a fresh line of thinking emerges to create a new breed of machine. But Honda specializes in innovation and for 16YM unveiled a completely new concept, straight out of left field – the X-ADV.

The thought processes that led to its birth? Consider the attributes of the average adventure-style motorcycle – tough ‘go-anywhere’ appeal, an upright riding position giving superb visibility and remarkable all-round usefulness, work or play. Then take a look at the typical commuter: it might be a scooter or motorcycle, but in either case it will be easy to manage, nimble and loaded with convenience, efficiency and useful storage space. Honda’s forward-thinking engineers combined the two together, and something special happened.

The machine they created had a rugged, stylish SUV image fully at home navigating the urban sprawl. And while it was loaded with all of the premium features that enable easy life in the big city, it also had the looks, engine power and chassis ability to inject every ride with the promise of adventure.

The X-ADV captured the essence of two-wheeled freedom in an exciting new form and garnered the attention of an army of riders around Europe, eager for something new, and has proved itself a genuine sales success. And, proving its off-road credentials, in the hands of seasoned Italian racer Renato Zocchi a lightly modified version took overall Class 2 victory in the gruelling 7,000km 2019 Gibraltar Rally.

And it has not stood still. In 21YM Honda upped the X-ADV’s engine performance, trimmed weight, enhanced style and added even more usefulness.

In 2022 the X-ADV was Honda’s third best-selling motorcycle over 350cc and since its introduction to the line-up, nearly 60,000 have been sold across Europe.

With the introduction of two Special Editions and a new colour option for 24YM, the X-ADV continues to cement its position as one of the coolest and most desirable two-wheelers available in Europe today.

  1. Model Overview

The parallel twin-cylinder engine blends strong low-to mid-range performance with easy manners and excellent fuel efficiency. Peak power is set at 43.1kW with an impressive 69Nm torque. 1. Key Features

3.1 Engine

  • Throttle By Wire control; peak power figure of 43.1kW with 69Nm torque
  • 6l/100km fuel efficiency
  • 35kW A2 licence version available

The design of the X-ADV’s liquid-cooled, SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine ensures punchy performance in the low-to-mid range. Its relatively long-stroke architecture and specially shaped combustion chambers combine with the high-inertial mass crankshaft to produce large amounts of effortless torque from very low rpm. A forward cant brings the centre of gravity down for optimum stability.

Peak power is set at 43.1kW @ 6,750rpm, with maximum torque of 69Nm @ 4,750rpm. From 30 km/h the X-ADV will cover 20m in 1.7s, 50m in 3.2s, while at 60km/h the torquey engine is turning at just 2,500rpm.

For A2 licence holders a 35kW version is available, which can be easily converted to the full power version by a Honda dealer at the appropriate time. Equally, it is possible to restrict the full power version to 35kW by a Honda dealer remapping the ECU.

The X-ADV engine also sips fuel – with a measured consumption of 27.8km/l (WMTC mode) providing a potential 366km range from the 13.2-litre fuel tank.

3.2 Engine Electronics

  • Throttle By Wire delivers 4 default riding modes, plus USER customisation
  • Honda Selectable Torque Control features 3 levels of intervention

With TBW managing engine performance and character there are 4 modes for the rider to choose from, covering all riding conditions. Mode selection is managed by the left-hand switchgear.

STANDARD delivers a balanced middle point between engine power delivery, engine braking and HSTC intervention, with the strongest level of ABS intervention.

SPORT gives more aggressive engine power delivery and engine braking, with low HSTC intervention, high ABS.

RAIN transmits low engine power delivery and engine braking, high HSTC and ABS input.

GRAVEL employs high power and engine braking with low HSTC and ABS.

USER offers custom options of low/medium/high between engine power delivery and engine braking and low/medium/high/off for HSTC.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) offers refined control as it uses TBW to manage torque delivered to the rear wheel, with 3 levels of input:

Level 1 allows the minimum intervention for some rear wheel spin – on gravel or dirt for instance, and its level of intervention is reduced from the previous design.

Level 2 is the default setting and provides confidence-inspiring traction for general riding conditions.

Level 3 provides maximum control for slippery roads.

HSTC can also be switched OFF.

3.3 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT

  • Differing shifting schedules link with riding modes
  • USER mode allows choice of 4 settings, from smooth to aggressive

Honda’s DCT technology is now in its 14th year of production, and over 230,000 units of DCT-equipped Honda two-wheelers have been sold in Europe since 2010. It delivers consistent, seamless gear changes up or down and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th, the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Extra benefits include durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear) impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and extra ‘brain space’ to concentrate on pure riding aspects such as riding line, cornering, braking and acceleration points.

Through TBW control there are 5 Automatic shifting schedules available.

For the GRAVEL riding mode, the X-ADV uses the relatively sporty ‘G’ shifting pattern; this has the added functionality of a decreased level of ‘slip’ as the clutches operate from a fully open or closed throttle – to give the rider more direct feel for traction at the rear wheel, and the ability to perform controlled sliding off road. Whereas this functionality was previously activated by the separate G Switch, it is now integrated into the new ‘G’ shift pattern of the DCT.

The USER mode functionality allows the rider to select any of the DCT shift patterns with the preferred permutations of the other parameters – power delivery, engine braking, ABS and HSTC.

3.4 Styling & Equipment

  • Sharp, slim and aggressive SUV styling
  • Honda Smartphone Voice Control System offers smartphone link through 5-inch TFT display
  • Twin LED headlights include Daytime Running Lights
  • Large 22L storage space includes a glovebox, and houses a USB-C charger

The X-ADV’s unique head-turning styling (conceived and developed by Honda’s R&D team in Italy) evolved for 21YM to become slimmer and sharper; the silhouette deliberately upright, with each body-panel honed with strong intent.

Dual LED headlights feature Daytime Running Lights (DRL) that automatically adjust to ambient light intensity and give a bright, highly visible light improving safety. All lighting is LED.

In terms of ergonomics, the 820mm seat height (shaped for easy ground reach) and wide handlebar set at 910mm ensure a high eye point, giving great visibility. For commuting or touring, the X-ADV’s screen adjusts without tools through 5 positions from low-to-high to maximise or minimise airflow. The total height difference is 139mm, with an 11° rake between the highest and lowest points.

Incorporated into the X-ADV’s rider interface and viewed through the 5-inch TFT display is the Honda Smartphone Voice Control System (HSVCs), which links the rider to their smartphone while on the move and allows voice management of phone calls, email, music and navigation. A helmet-mounted headset is needed, and the smartphone connects to the dash via Bluetooth; management of the system is also possible through buttons on the left switchgear.

Tough plastic hand guards deflect wind and rain, while adding protection for hands and levers from stones when off-road. A shot-peened 2.5mm thick aluminium bash plate guards the underside.

The under-seat 22L luggage space accommodates a full-face helmet and is lit with an integral LED, whose textured surface delivers uniform illumination without glare. A USB-C charging socket is located at the rear of the compartment. A centre stand – with tilt sensor – is fitted as standard and allows the X-ADV to be parked on an incline without fear of toppling.

For added convenience the X-ADV uses a Smart Key, which lives in the rider’s pocket and does away with the need to use a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. With the Smart Key present one push of the knob-type main switch powers it up and makes it possible to turn, giving the rider control of the ignition/steering lock and, via two rocker switches, the fuel cap and seat. It also has an ‘answer back’ function, which makes the indicators flash for easy identification from a distance, and locks and unlocks the optional Smart Top Box. A clutch mechanism in the main switch stops the handlebars unlocking by force.

The X-ADV’s rear indicators also have a self-cancelling Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function.

The indicators also auto-cancel. Rather than using a simple timer, the system compares front and rear wheel speed difference and calculates when to cancel the indication relative to the situation.

3.5 Chassis

  • Lightweight tubular steel diamond frame
  • 41mm cartridge-style USD fork and Pro-Link swingarm
  • Radial mount four-piston front brake calipers, 296mm discs and ABS
  • 120/70 R17 and 160/60 R15 front and rear tyres

The X-ADV’s tubular steel diamond frame is light and strong and makes ample space for the under-seat compartment. Rake and trail are set at 27°/104mm with wheelbase of 1590mm. A 39° steering angle (and turning radius of 2.8m) makes the X-ADV manoeuvrable in tight traffic. Long travel suspension –153.5mm up front and 150mm from the rear – is matched to 165mm of ground clearance. Overall wet weight is 236kg.

For handling rough terrain, the 41mm cartridge-type USD fork adjusts for spring preload and rebound damping. The spring preload adjustable rear shock is a single tube split pressure design and operates the aluminium swingarm – constructed from a machined-hollow cross member and U-shaped (in cross section) arms – through Pro-Link.

The 17-inch front wheel and 15-inch rear use stainless steel rust-resistant spokes and contribute to the X-ADV’s ability to comfortably soak up rough terrain. Block-pattern tyres add to the ride quality and L-shape valve stems make checking air pressure easy. Tyres are sized 120/70 R17 and 160/60 R15 front and rear.

Dual radial-mount opposed four-piston calipers grip 296mm discs and work through ABS.

New Special Editions and new colour for the X-ADV; new colours for Forza 750

Two of Honda’s most popular European models, the X-ADV and Forza 750 receive exciting new colour updates for 24YM.

Headlining the X-ADV line-up for 24YM are two new Special Editions. Available across Europe in both Iridium Grey Metallic and Grand Prix Red, both Special Editions will also feature striking ‘big logo’ graphics.

Last year the X-ADV was Honda’s third best-selling motorcycle over 350cc outsold only by the Neo Sports Café middleweight CB650R and the athletic CRF1100L Africa Twin. Since its introduction in 2016 as a ground-breaking new ‘two-wheeled SUV’, Honda have sold nearly 60,000 X-ADVs across Europe.

The X-ADV will continue to be available in Matt Ballistic Black Metallic, which will also be joined by an all-new Puco Blue colour scheme, with both schemes featuring Black Graphite trim.

Crowning the prestigious Forza family, the Forza 750 is the ultimate maxi scooter, offering an exciting ride and luxurious comfort wrapped in high-tech style. A former winner of the prestigious Red Dot Award for outstanding motorcycle design thanks to it elegant looks, sporty performance and outstanding versatility, for 24YM a new special Matt Ballistic Black Metallic version will headline the Forza 750 line-up. With stylish gold wheels and gold Forza logos, it also features blacked out engine cases, pivot plate, sump guard/floor skirt and swing arm that complete its purposeful, stealthy look.

The Forza 750 will also be available in a brand-new Candy Chromosphere Red, which along with Iridium Gray Metallic, which carries over from last year, will feature smart Graphite Black trim. The timeless Mat Jeans Blue Metallic will also still be available.

The new 24YM Forza 750 and X-ADV will be heading to dealerships in Europe from September onwards.

17 Lucky Owners Pick Up Their New Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP

17 Lucky Owners Pick Up Their New Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP John McGuinness 100th Start TT Replica.

Tuesday, 12th July was a special day for some very lucky people. 17 new owners of the Limited Edition CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP John McGuinness 100th Start Replica attended the Honda Racing Centre in Louth to pick up their new bike – from the man himself.

Unveiled at Motorcycle Live last year, the limited-edition JMG 100th start Fireblade SP sold out almost instantly. And, after a tour of Honda’s race HQ, some picture opportunities, and the chance for a chat with a true TT legend, each new owner took delivery of their very own JMG 100th start Fireblade SP, with a fresh JMG signature tucked away, of course. The day also included a tour of the impressive Honda Racing facility.

McGuinness has a long history with Honda at the TT with 80 starts out of a total 108. His first lap in the 130mph plus bracket was in 2007, with his best ever lap of 132.7mph recorded in 2015. During the 2023 TT his fastest lap was 131.183mph, during the last lap of the Senior. And one detail to note; out of a total 1433.74 miles covered over the 2023 event, 430 were at full throttle… still super-fast, after all these years.

John McGuinness MBE
I’ve come away buzzing. The bike looks mega but what means even more to me are the people I’ve met today. Like I said from the start the Fireblade has meant a lot to me and the TT over the last 30 years. But what I’ve been reminded about is that the TT is more than racing bikes. It’s the fans that come from all over, that make it the unique event it is. What a great feeling, to shake hands with the new owners of my 100th start Fireblade SP, hand over the keys and see something so special – to me, and them – roll out the race shop door. Awesome!

Neil Fletcher, Head of Motorcycles, Honda UK
I’ve marked today as an exceptional one in the Honda UK calendar. This project has come from our hearts to celebrate a unique man and momentous machine together. To see John, his 100th start Fireblade SP and all of these customers come together, is amazing. And I know there’ll be some very happy people tonight, in their garages, revelling in their new pride and joy…

The New Owners

Nicholas Taylor 2/30
It’s been a day I’ve been looking forward to for some time. I own a few Fireblades and when this was launched at Motorcycle Live last year, I jumped straight in and paid my deposit hoping that I might be one of the lucky few to be picked. When I was told in December/January time that I’d be receiving number 2, I was absolutely delighted. I’m a big fan of John and enjoyed watching him at the TT and for him to be here whilst picking up this special Fireblade has simply made the day fantastic!

Rob Haywood 23/30
Quite simply, I’m a massive Honda fan and had pretty much most of the Fireblades since 1992. I’m also a big TT fan, marshalled there for many years and have watched John since his first TT in 1996. As soon as the bike was launched, I had to have one. I specifically asked for number 23 which matches his current number of TT wins and to have him here, sign the bike and talk about his career and been absolutely awesome, what a day!

And the bike they’re getting
As John says the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is a special bike out of the box. Add some 30th Anniversary detailing and it gets that little bit more special. But with the JMG 100th Start Fireblade SP the special factor goes off the scale.

It wears a full replica respray, incorporating Gold detailing and film strip, Genuine Honda Accessories carbon fibre front mudguard, rear hugger, seat cowl and tall screen. John’s signature crowns the airbox cover and each bike displays an individually numbered plaque on the headstock.

The bike also comes with a custom Fireblade garage mat, a paddock stand, a Genuine Honda Accessories indoor body cover, and an individually numbered 3D laser-engraved crystal featuring a design of the John McGuinness 100th Start replica.

Triumph Collaborate With Steve McQueen And Michael Kalish

Triumph collaborate with Steve McQueen and Michael Kalish to release limited edition digital collectibles.

A portrait befitting a legend
In 2022, acclaimed artist Michael Kalish created a 25’ x 25’ original portrait of Steve McQueen. Steve McQueen had an intense passion for riding motorcycles, and had an enviable garage including many Triumph motorcycles such a ’63 Bonneville which McQueen converted into a Desert Sled. This iconic bike was the inspiration for the bike used by Kalish, a 2022 Triumph Bonneville T100 in Jet Black.

Chase McQueen, Steve’s grandson, also has racing in his veins and agreed to ride the Bonneville on his most difficult surface yet, a giant canvas covered in wet paint.

Gallons of white, light blue and yellow paint were spread and distributed by Chase riding the T100. After hours of application, the canvas was perfectly coated in the blend of colors complete with tire treads ready for Kalish to peel back layers of previously masked and scored sections of canvas to reveal an instantly recognizable and stunning portrait of Steve McQueen.

Boundary Breaking Legacy in a Modern NFT Medium
The McQueen family, along with Kalish and Triumph Motorcycles then created a similarly artistic tribute in the form of a set of generative Web3 digital collectibles. Verified Labs helped deliver this boundary breaking collection of digital art – 1,000 unique generative, interactive, and fully 3D 360-degree NFT’s, the first of its kind ever released on the ThetaDrop platform, all at an accessible initial price point of $99 USD.

Web3 animation studio, Immersive Enterprise Laboratories (IEL), designed a three-dimensional virtual garage where owners will discover a Triumph Bonneville T100 motorcycle, rider, and digital recreation of the original Kalish portrait of Steve McQueen. IEL used Unreal Engine to build the garage and each of the elements within, making the collection truly 3D from 360 degrees, which can be viewed within virtual reality headsets or proudly showcased in spatial reality displays via a FBX file.

Upon interacting with the T100 sitting on a pool of paint in the center of the garage, the NFT’s owner can trigger an animation which sees the bike’s rider start the engine, put the motorcycle in gear, and do a burnout, spraying paint against the wall of the garage revealing a portrait of Steve McQueen just like the real-life Kalish original.

1,000 Unique Digital Collectibles
To make each of the 1,000 unique, IEL used a generative process to assign color variations on a handful of elements within the garage, making no two NFTs from the collection the same. Elements that change range from the bike paint scheme or a splatter effect on it, to the color of the rider’s Triumph Bradden Air Jacket and color of the McQueen portrait. The combinations of color variants make certain NFTs from the collection more or less rare, depending on how many in the collection share attributes for each of the elements.

EASY TO ACQUIRE AND INCENTIVES FOR COLLECTORS
To ensure that any interested fan around the world could secure their very own “King of Cool Racing Team” digital collectible, the user friendly ThetaDrop was selected as the marketplace for the initial drop meaning no cryptocurrency is required making it easier for first time NFT buyers to get involved.

To support the long-term value proposition, the collection will be limited to only 1,000 unique versions of the NFT. Also, to incentivize trading of the collectible, which supports an increase in value for owners, there will be a trio of challenges with high-value prizes attached to each challenge.

The Ultimate Collectible
For only the most enthusiastic fan, there will be the most rare version of the “King of Cool Racing Team” collectibles paired with the actual 2022 Triumph Bonneville T100 with original splatter paint design which was ridden by Chase McQueen to create the original large format Michael Kalish portrait of Steve McQueen available for auction.

This ultimate collectible combination will be auctioned for a two-week period on ThetaDrop. The starting bid for this priceless one of one Michael Kalish painted motorcycle ridden by Chase McQueen paired with the most rare “King of Cool Racing Team” will be $15,000 USD. The pair will be awarded to the highest bidder of the virtual open auction at the end of the two-week period.

PARTNER QUOTES

Michael Kalish – Acclaimed Artist
“Over my 30 year career creating art and sculpture, I have always been inspired by and used materials directly related to Americana. Shortly after getting out of Art School, I traveled across the US to get inspiration and pick vintage materials for my work. Having the opportunity to partner with the Steve McQueen family has been a perfect intersection of my passions as an artist and who Steve McQueen was to all of us on the big screen. There is so much overlap of our love of cars, motorcycles, family, American Iconic objects, and moments. What an honor this has been!”

Adam VanderVeen – Marketing Director, Triumph Motorcycles America

“We’re proud that the original King of Cool made Triumph his motorcycle of choice and given our shared history with the iconic racer and actor, we couldn’t be happier with Michael’s vision to include a Triumph in his creative artistic tribute to Steve McQueen. After seeing the final portrait, it was an obvious choice to work with Michael and the McQueen family to make the tribute piece available to Steve’s fans and I’m very happy we came up with a way to sharing it that lived up to our shared values.”

McQueen Family
“Triumph has held a special place in the hearts of our family for generations; we’ve experienced countless memorable rides on their iconic motorcycles. The chance to collaborate with Triumph and the exceptional artist Michael Kalish on this exclusive release brings us immeasurable joy. By becoming part of the respected Theta community, we eagerly look forward to offering our loyal Steve McQueen fans something truly extraordinary and unparalleled.”

Justin Trevor Winters – CEO, Verified Labs
“As an award-winning Web3 agency and studio, we strongly believe that emerging AI technology is revolutionizing every aspect of the way we live, work, and relate to the world around us. Therefore we couldn’t be more honored to collaborate with visionary artist Michael Kalish, Triumph Motorcycles, and Immersive Enterprise Laboratories to bring the original King of Cool back to life in the first ever 3D Digital Art Collection on Theta Network. No one lives forever but we strive to make sure their legacies do.”

XSR900 DB40 Prototype Breaks Cover at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Riding up the prestigious Goodwood Hill on each of the festival’s four days, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype represents a blend of Yamaha’s rich racing history and cutting edge modern technology in line with the Sport Heritage mantra.

The XSR900 DB40 Prototype is the latest model based on the XSR900 platform to pay homage to Yamaha’s racing identity. Last month, custom house caferacersofinstagram unveiled their first Yard Built for Good project at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club Show, a customised XSR900 harking back to Yamaha’s Grand Prix racers of the 80s and 90s.

This followed the unveiling of a range of Yamaha Genuine Accessories which transformed the standard XSR900 into a RACER with a café racer style mini fairing and race-styled single seat cover. This XSR900 RACER made its debut at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Show before legendary French Grand Prix racer Christian Sarron took to the famous Wheels and Waves Punk’s Peak race in June.

Yamaha’s Sport Heritage range combines the emotion-evoking design of some of the most iconic motorcycles in the brand’s history and combines this with the very latest high performance chassis and engine technology, paying homage to the racing machines that have shaped Yamaha’s past without compromising modern day performance.

For 2023, this nod to Yamaha’s illustrious racing history goes even further. Following the unveiling of the XSR900 RACER accessories and the 1980s Grand Prix-inspired CafeRacersofInstagram Yard Built for Good special earlier this year, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype has broken cover for the first time at the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Riding up the prestigious Goodwood Hill on each of the festival’s four days, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype represents a blend of Yamaha’s rich racing history and cutting edge modern technology in line with the Sport Heritage mantra.

Former YZR500 Grand Prix racer Niall Mackenzie, who rode for Marlboro Yamaha in 1989 before three further years on Yamaha machinery in the early nineties, will take to the hill on the XSR900 DB40 Prototype on Thursday and Friday before a selection of journalists and VIPs take the machine to the hill on the weekend.

In the 1980s, Yamaha pioneered a new wave of technological advancement in motorcycle engineering by introducing the Deltabox chassis in their Grand Prix race machines.

This technology would soon filter down to road bikes, and now, 40 years on, the Deltabox style design remains at the heart of many Yamaha motorcycles.

Based on the XSR900, the XSR900 DB40 Prototype – named to celebrate 40 years of the Deltabox chassis – is powered by the award-winning 890cc ‘CP3’ triple-cylinder engine, housed in the very latest version of the Deltabox style frame.

The name ‘Deltabox’ comes from the amalgamation of the word ‘Delta’, the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, represented by a triangle and the word ‘box’.

From a side view, the Deltabox is formed of a triangle linking the head pipe to the swingarm pivot while the cross-section is box-shaped. This relationship between the steering head and the pivot point offers outstanding rigidity and feedback where a rider will need it most. The cross-shaped box section allows for a greater surface area while providing lighter weight and a higher level of rigidity.

Yamaha debuted the Deltabox chassis in their 1982 YZR500 OW61 Grand Prix machine, while the frame’s first appearance in a production racer came just three years later, the TZR250, bringing the characteristics of the YZR factory race machinery to the road. The Deltabox has since become synonymous with Yamaha’s Supersport models, including the revolutionary R1 launched 25 years ago this year.
