Zero Motorcycles complete successful ‘Bums on Seats’ UK tour

Zero Motorcycles, the world’s leading all-electric motorbike brand, enjoyed a hugely successful UK demo tour, giving over 450 British motorcyclists an opportunity to try out an electric motorcycle for the first time.

Taking place at 16 venues across England, Scotland and Wales, the tour took place from August 27 through to September 18. Dubbed ‘Bums on Seats’ it saw a selection of models from the Zero range, from the sub £10,000 11kw models to the range-topping SR/F and SR/S electric sportsbikes available for guided taster rides. The tour gave motorcyclists an opportunity to understand better the characteristics of electric motorcycles and to help them overcome any preconceptions they may have about switching to electric.

Speaking about the tour, which was carried out in collaboration with the rapidly expanding Zero Motorcycles dealer network, Dale Robinson, Zero Motorcycles’ Country Manager commented: “To truly understand a Zero you have to ride one for yourself, which is why getting bums on seats plays such an important role in helping to get electric motorcycles into the mainstream. Several bikes were sold as a result of the demo days, from customers who had shown an interest in upgrading to electric but who wanted an opportunity to try out several models and discuss living with them before putting a deposit down. Just as importantly, we now have 450 new advocates of the brand and our products, and they will be able to go away and tell their friends about the positive experience they have had on an electric motorcycle. This is particularly important in 2020, where we will be unable to meet with customers and prospective customers at Motorcycle Live due to the Covid situation.”

Prospective purchasers will still be able to arrange a demonstration ride at any one of the 21 official Zero Motorcycles dealers on the British Isles and Ireland, the latest addition being Scooterised in Willesden, North West London, which has joined the network this week.

The Streetfighter V4 becomes even sportier with Ducati Performance accessories

With its 178 kg weight, Desmosedici Stradale 1,103 cc engine producing 208 hp, biplane wings and a latest generation electronic package, the Streetfighter V4 is the absolute expression of Ducati sportiness and of the continuous research that the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer carries out every day towards achieving performance at the top of the segment.

The Ducati Performance catalogue contains numerous accessories, designed and manufactured in collaboration with the best companies in the sector, capable of further enhancing the sporting character and racing soul of the Streetfighter V4, especially in terms of performance when used on the track.

The complete titanium exhaust group, the carbon wing set and the magnesium rims are just some of the elements derived from the racing world with which it is possible to equip this extreme naked and make it an even more unique bike.

All accessories are available and can be purchased on the Ducati website in the dedicated section and in all Ducati dealers.

Complete titanium exhaust system
Designed and developed for the racing world, each part of this system is made from a special titanium alloy ensuring not only considerably lower weight (5.5 kg), but also great resistance to the high temperatures that can be reached. The exhaust system significantly improves the already high weight/power ratio. The map supplied makes it possible to adapt all the parameters of DTC – DWC – DPL and Slide on demand to the new performance of the bike. The perfect accessory to boost the Streetfighter V4’s aggressive look and give it an unmistakable sound. Mid-range power (hp) +6%; mid-range torque (Nm) +6%; maximum power (cv) +6%; maximum torque (Nm) +6%.

Set of carbon wings
Thought for those who want to add a further touch of exclusivity to their bike, this set consists of 4 structural carbon fibre wings. A valuable accessory, extremely carefully handcrafted, which gives the bike an unmistakable look. The lightness of the structural carbon fibre, combined with the shape designed in the wind tunnel, enhance the markedly racing character and the already high performance.

Magnesium rims
The lightness of forged magnesium meets the typically racing design of the 9-spoke wheels, for a pair of rims clearly inspired by the Superbike world. Type-approved for single-seater use, they are the result of the combination of technical racing features with strict standards for type-approval as original equipment. Compared to the traditional aluminium alloy version, the exclusive material of this accessory ensures a reduction in weight by 3 kg (-33%) compared to standard motorcycle versions and 0.7 kg (-10%) compared to S versions. Moreover, it ensures a reduction in inertia by 40% (vs standard) and 12% (vs S), thus improving the vehicle dynamics and the changes of direction, to optimise performance and riding feeling.

Dry clutch kit
Just like in MotoGP, where the only thing that matters is utmost performance, the dry clutch is made available for the other V4 models (it comes standard on the Panigale V4 R). This is an STM EVO-SBK clutch made from billet aluminium with housing and 48-tooth plate pack. The plates are 9 driven and 9 lined with a diameter of 138 mm. When racing on the track there are important benefits in ease of handling. Specifically, the dry clutch ensures a more effective slipper function, even during the most aggressive downshifts, and greater fluidity during all “off-throttle” stages. In addition, the “mechanical” engine brake level can be customised by choosing a different secondary spring from those available from the catalogue. Other important advantages are the absence of resistance from the engine oil and cleaner oil since the plate wear dust is not conveyed into the lubrication circuit. The racing character of the dry clutch and its iconic sound are exciting added benefits for the most passionate Ducatisti.

Dry clutch cover
Designed to offer optimum ventilation of the dry clutch during track use, enhancing its characteristic sound. The lightness and strength of the carbon fibre combine with the race-ready look in an accessory that has a uniquely sporty DNA.

Carbon heel guard
Created to minimise the interference between the bike and the rider’s boots and further embellish the Ducati Performance billet aluminium footpegs. The high-quality material offers maximum lightness and protection whilst also providing the distinct racing look that only carbon fibre can give.

Carbon tank cover
A gorgeous detail to embellishes the front of the tank. The finishing and the lines of this accessory are perfectly integrated into the racing look of this super sports bike.

Passenger seat cover
Made of high quality plastic material, its essential lines integrate perfectly with the design of the Streetfighter V4, allowing the bike to transform from a two-seater to a single-seater.

Billet aluminium tank cap
The unmistakable Ducati design is combined with Rizoma’s experience to create a unique detail, made entirely in Italy, which enhances the bike’s aesthetics. The tank cap is made from billet aluminium and it maintains its original appearance over time thanks to high quality anodising. This accessory is equipped with an anti-tamper system to guarantee maximum safety and it comes with a special key with a Ducati shield graphic.

Pair of handgrips
Inspired by the racing world, these handgrips ensure an excellent grip in every riding situation. Built to avoid accidental slipping of the hand and to reduce the vibrations felt.

Adjustable rider footpegs in aluminium
Developed thanks to the experience of Ducati Corse and the skilful productive care of Rizoma, the adjustable rider foot pegs are made of high quality anodised aluminium alloy that maintains its original appearance over time. Adjustable in five positions, they allow the riders to find the position that best suits their build and riding style. Equipped with fold-away brake and gear change pedals to minimise the risk of breakage in the event of a slip. They use the standard DQS, which can be configured both as a traditional shift and as a reversed/racing shift.

21YM Honda CB125F

21YM HONDA CB125F

Model updates: Honda’s perennially popular entry-level CB125F is a brand-new motorcycle for 2021 and a huge 11kg lighter. Its low friction eSP (‘enhanced Smart Power’) engine significantly improves fuel economy while maintaining performance and now features an ACG starter. The revised bodywork takes styling cues from bigger CB stablemates, and equipment includes an LED headlight, centre stand and digital dash with ECO meter.

1. Introduction
An entry-level 125cc motorcycle has to be a multi-faceted machine. To some it represents the most economical way of getting from A to B, both in terms of initial affordability and running costs. To these riders it must be durable, easy to live with and economical: simple, trouble-free transport at its most fundamental.

But to many new riders a 125 is the start of their motorcycling adventure, their first ‘real’ bike. So, it must deliver all of the above, plus everything else that a motorcycle should – the excitement, freedom and instinctive pleasure that two wheels bring to everyday life. Yet it also has to be easy for a novice to manage as they learn, with a build quality and styling that instil tangible pride of ownership.

For any manufacturer, welcoming and introducing fresh entrants to their brand is important. The right initial experience can lead to a lifelong association, and the CB125F has long served this function for Honda – a tough, user-friendly entry-level motorcycle that offers the perfect first rung on the ladder. The CB125F was a new model name for Honda in 2015; it maintained the previous CBF125’s core strength of robust simplicity but built strongly on that strong foundation in terms of quality, ease of use and style.

For 2021 the CB125F is renewed again, with a complete refresh that makes it even more desirable and cost effective. The new CB125F is a great bike to simply get you where you need to be – or from where to begin the ride of a lifetime.

Mr. Ken Tomiyasu – Large Project Leader (LPL) 2021 CB125F:
“For us, benchmarks are important. So, we have set about a quiet revolution with our all-new CB125F, keeping its useful around-town performance but adding much greater fuel economy. It also features advanced low-friction technologies in the eSP engine, confident handling from its chassis, and looks that an owner can be really proud of. We are very proud that so many people will begin their motorcycling journey with Honda on CB125F, and know that it will provide pleasure and practicality in equal measure.”

2. Model Overview
The new CB125F is a serious small machine, whose development involved the filing of no fewer than 19 patent applications. Made at Honda’s Atessa facility in south east Italy it offers a huge jump in fuel economy from its air-cooled enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine, with no loss of performance.

It’s also 11kg lighter, with a redesigned frame and an up-to-date, big-bike re-style; an LED headlight and revised digital dash are quality finishing touches. The 2021 CB125F will be available in the following colour options:

Splendor Red

Pearl Cool White

Black

21YM HONDA CB125F

3. Key Features

3.1 Engine

  • New enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine offers 27% extra fuel economy, with no loss of performance
  • Low friction technologies include offset cylinder, needle bearings for the roller/rocker arms and piston oil jet
  • ACG starter also generates electricity and contributes greatly to the engine’s 7kg weight loss
  • 5-speed gearbox and sealed final drive chain

The CB125F’s new air-cooled, 124cc 2-valve SOHC single-cylinder eSP (‘enhanced Smart Power) EURO5-specification engine has been engineered from its inception to maintain optimum performance for busy urban streets but with extra, serious frugality and supreme reliability.

Peak power of 8kW is delivered @ 7,500rpm, with peak torque of 10.9Nm @ 6,000rpm (as opposed to 7.8kW @ 7,750rpm/10.2Nm @ 6,250rpm). Bore and stroke is set at 50 x 63.1mm, with compression ratio of 10.0:1. Standing start acceleration over 200m 12.4s, but more importantly, the fuel efficiency is vastly improved – leaping from 51km/l to 66.7km/l, giving a potential range of over 800km from the 11L fuel tank.

Honda has developed its eSP engines – and the engineering that goes into them – on a growing range of 125cc scooters over the last 5 years. The focus is around building in, from a clean sheet, low-friction technology to every facet of the engine; the CB125F’s eSP engine benefits hugely from eight years of accumulated know-how.

And it starts with weight. The new eSP design is 7kg lighter than the engine it replaces. Its cylinder is offset, reducing friction between the piston skirt and bore, while the piston itself is cooled by an oil jet from underneath, again reducing friction. Valve operation is via rocker-roller arms equipped with needle bearings.

An Alternating Current Generator (ACG) is also part of the eSP formula and combines electricity generation with starting duties, saving weight while simplifying layout. The effort needed to start the engine is reduced thanks to a swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake – giving the engine a ‘running’ start – and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance due to compression. In use the ACG starter is extremely quiet. The gearbox is 5-speed and final drive is via sealed chain.

3.2 Chassis, Styling & Equipment

  • New tubular steel frame saves 1.7kg; twin rear shocks are preload adjustable
  • Sharp re-style adds big-bike presence and extra CB family DNA
  • The nose fairing houses an LED headlight and digital dash
  • Wet weight of 117kg is 8.6% lighter than the previous model

The new tubular frame uses high-tensile steel in its construction and is 1.7kg lighter. It suspends the engine from a sturdy central spine and features geometry that provides the best balance between ride comfort and straight-line stability, with a focus toward light steering input and sporty feel at all lean angles. Rake and trail are set at 26° and 92.4mm, with wheelbase of 1280mm and wet weight is 117kg, a full 11kg lighter.

Dual rear shocks offer 5-step spring preload adjustment and complement the 31mm diameter telescopic fork’s compliance and ride quality; stylish 18-inch die-cast aluminium split-spoke front and rear wheels increase stability and ride quality over rough city streets. Tyres are sized 80/100 front and 90/90 rear. A 240mm front disc is worked by a dual piston caliper, with back up from the 130mm rear drum; both are managed by two channel CBS.

The 2021 CB125F wears aggressive new styling, with echoes of larger bikes in the CB family, around its redesigned chassis. The broad-shouldered fuel tank and silver-finished shrouds in particular take their cues from the CB-R Neo Sports Café family, while a CB500F-influenced angular nose fairing and blacked-out fly screen provide some wind deflection, and a sharper attitude. It also houses a new LED headlight and digital dash that displays the information that matters, including a gear position indicator as well as real-time and average fuel economy, distance to empty and ECO indicator, for when riding in the most efficient way. The start/stop button is an integrated switch (the previous model did not feature a stop button as standard) as is the high beam/passing switch.

The engine, exhaust downpipe, fork lowers and wheels are blacked out, underlining the strong lines and bold paintwork. The muffler too, is blacked out but also finished with a chrome heat shield. Bright red detailing is to be found on the shock springs, spark plug HT cap and HONDA, picked out on the left-hand engine cover. Other quality finishing touches include 3D Honda Wings on the shrouds and mirror/indicator shaping that emulates the design language of the whole machine.

With its intended use as an everyday commuter, gateway machine to the world of motorcycling – and riding school stalwart – the CB125F’s riding position is upright and relaxed, with more forward-set footpegs and wide tubular handlebars giving optimum control, rider confidence and all-round visibility. Seat height is 15mm higher at 790mm and offers room for two adults comfortably; a passenger grab rail is also standard, as is a centre stand.

New 10TEN MX-E

The fast-selling 10TEN range of off-road bikes from UK distributor Dualways has expanded for 2020 with the introduction of the all-new 10TEN MX-E, the first fully-electric model in the 10TEN line-up.

The MX-E is the perfect bike for beginners eager to get to grips with riding a powered two-wheeler, but without the need to worry about gear and clutch control or hot parts. It also has two power settings, allowing adult supervisors to initially restrict the bike and then increase the power once the rider becomes more confident. This helps young riders to develop their riding skills without the noise and disturbance of a conventional petrol engine.

For peace of mind, the MX-E has a removable lithium battery, which allows the battery to be taken off to charge. This serves as both a security measure – it cannot be ridden away – and a convenience factor, as it can be fully charged in four to six hours and a spare can be kept ready to swap in when required.

10TEN motorcycles appeal to a wide range of motorcyclists from young minibike racers through to adult competitors. Now, with the launch of its first electric model, 10TEN has a platform from which to develop a portfolio of motorcycles fit for future generations of riders.

10TEN products come with the assurance of a major, well-established distributor, a six-months parts and labour warranty and a full spares back-up service.

Britain’s brand new motorcycle company, Langen, launches the Two Stroke

See the newest British motorcycle brand, Langen Motorcycles, at Salon Privé, Blenheim Palace, next week.

Thrilling new British company, Langen motorcycles, will break cover with their eagerly-awaited new model, the Two Stroke, next week at the prestigious Salon Prive

The event, held from 23rd-26th September at Blenheim Palace, will be the first time the ground-breaking, two-stroke, road legal motorcycle has been seen in public and it is great to see the Two Stroke launched at the same event as other beautiful new cars and bikes this year.

The Langen Two Stroke stands out from the crowd. It defies convention by using the latest two-stroke, 250cc, V-twin engine and will attack your senses through the sound, smell and sheer thrill that only a lightweight, two-stroke can deliver. And its redline? How does 14,500rpm sound!

The Two Stroke’s heart is produced for Langen by Vins, who are based in Maranello, Italy. The engine produces more than 75bhp (56kW) and 45Nm (33lb.ft). Born from an ‘extra-curricular’ passion project from members of the Ferrari research and development department, the CNC-machined engine has been developed over the last five years and suits the Langen Two Stroke perfectly. A combination of fuel injection, ECU-controlled oil injection, carbon fibre reed valves and electronic exhaust valves enable the engine to produce eye-watering performance figures, yet within an environmentally-friendly set up as a highly tractable, road legal motorcycle.

Power-to-weight ratio is the key to the Langen Two Stroke performance, with a design philosophy of simplification and lack of weight. The result is the Two Stroke weighs just 114kg (251lbs). This gives an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 660bhp/ton – more than most supercars.

The Langen Two Stroke is a handmade, bespoke creation. The chassis is made by hand from large-diameter, laser cut aluminium tubing, with bonded and machined connection points. Light, Ohlins front forks and British K-Tech rear shocks control the nimble machine. The bodywork, including the fuel tank is made from hand-laid carbon fibre, as is the gold leaf detailing.

Langen is really proud of its roots and the Two Stroke has been designed, engineered and built in Wigan, Greater Manchester. Partnerships have been made with the best British manufacturing companies to produce components of the bike which require specific expertise and experience such as such as Hel Performance brakes, Dunlop tyres and K-tech suspension. Every detail of the Two Stroke has been carefully considered, crafted and specified to uphold Langen’s values of quality, innovation and tradition.

Each engine will be built to order and individually numbered to match the customers motorcycle, with fully CNC machined casings and custom interchangeable gearbox. Customisation can range from paint colours, chassis finish and suspension type to wheels, along with tailored ergonomics for each individual rider.

Chris Ratcliffe, creator of Langen and designer of the Two Stroke, has more than 10 years’ experience designing successful motorcycles. He says:

‘The company has been founded with the aim of producing motorcycles with a simplicity and purity of days gone by, like the ‘Ton-up boys’ and their Cafe racers – yet pushing the limits of modern technology.

My dream has always been to create a small piece of British motorcycling history. To be able to launch this special motorcycle under a completely new brand really is a dream come true.

The aim is to continue to push boundaries and create more interesting bikes, which we hope will really please people.’

The initial build will be limited to 100 individually numbered Two Strokes, which will be road legal in the UK. Production is targeted to begin in summer 2021. A further 150 motorcycles will be produced starting 2022, which will be available in homologated form for road use in other countries around the world. The total number of builds will be strictly limited to 250 bikes, each of them built to order.

The Two Stroke is priced from £28,000 plus VAT where applicable. Due to the overwhelming response so far, pre-orders are now being taken with a £1000 refundable deposit to secure one of the 100 initial bikes.

Working on the philosophy that motorcycles should provide raw excitement to ride, yet be a pleasure to stand and admire. Form and function working in harmony.

We sincerely hope you enjoy sharing this journey with us and helping to create a new chapter of British motorcycle history.

Indian Motorcycle, America’s First Motorcycle Company, today announced its 2021 model-year lineup. The new lineup, which includes new model iterations, next-level technology upgrades, and a robust offering of genuine Indian Motorcycle accessories, is made available following the brand’s strongest sales quarter ever.

Our 2021 lineup additions and upgraded features are a result of the hard work and dedication we pour into every bike in the lineup.”

Meanwhile, the restyled Roadmaster Dark Horse includes fully blacked-out finishes for mean and modern attitude. Each model is powered by Indian Motorcycle’s powerful, air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 with premium features, including Metzeler Cruisetec® tyres, lower fairings with adjustable airflow vents, heated grips and a push-button adjustable windshield. The charge port conveniently provides riders with an opportunity to plug in and connect to a wider range of electronics.

Innovative Technology
The 2021 lineup boasts new ride-enhancing technology, both as standard equipment and as an upgrade.

ClimaCommand Heated & Cooled Seat

In addition to being standard equipment on the Roadmaster Limited and Roadmaster Dark Horse, Indian Motorcycle’s new ClimaCommand heated and cooled seat is also available as an upgrade across all Thunderstroke models. New for 2021, the ClimaCommand seat is available in two style variations, Classic and Rogue, which has more modern, streamlined style. Additionally, the 2021 ClimaCommand seat now allows riders to adjust heating and cooling directly through the Ride Command infotainment system on select 2020 and 2021 models, offering riders a new, and easy way to manage comfort while on the road. With a low, medium, or high setting, the thermoelectric technology is used to independently cool or heat the rider and passenger seat, while a flexible graphene material allows the heating or cooling to disperse through the entire surface area of the seat. The non-perforated seat is 100% water-resistant and highly durable. The ClimaCommand seat is available as an added accessory for all 2014 through 2021 Thunderstroke models, though 2020 and 2021 Chieftain and Roadmaster riders can integrate the seat within the bike’s Ride Command system.

When paired with the Slim Trunk Passenger Backrest Pad, passengers have up to 50mm of additional room for comfort.

For both Indian Challenger and Thunderstroke models, a new low-profile quick-release padded sissy bar with low-profile passenger pad is available to those who want added passenger comfort without sacrificing the bike’s low-profile and sleek styling.

Additionally, Indian Challenger and Thunderstroke riders can add even more wind protection with taller accessory windshield options and added comfort with an extended reach seat, infinite highway pegs and a pinnacle heel shifter. For those riding two-up, a quick-release passenger sissy bar, passenger backrest pad, and passenger floorboards add passenger comfort.

Harley-Davidson LiveWire Motorcycle Sets New World Records at EV Racing Exhibition

Angelle Sampey and LiveWire establish E.T. records for a Production Electric Motorcycle.

A Harley-Davidson® LiveWire® motorcycle set all-new records for elapsed time and top speed by an electric-powered production motorcycle on a drag racing course on 4th September. Harley-Davidson™ Screamin’ Eagle™/Vance & Hines rider and three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, Angelle Sampey stepped off her Harley-Davidson FXDR™ Pro Stock competition motorcycle to pilot the LiveWire bike to capture world record-breaking runs on the quarter and eighth-mile, covering the eighth-mile distance in 7.017 seconds and the full quarter-mile course in just 11.156 seconds at 110.35 mph. The 2020 LiveWire motorcycle’s top speed is limited to 110 mph.

The records were set during exhibition runs at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. This is another great pass at a bold future In Harley-Davidson’s quest to lead the electrification of motorcycles.

“Let me tell you what’s amazing,” said Sampey. “That was the first time I rode the LiveWire. I could not wait to get it on the track. The LiveWire is so easy to ride. Just twist the throttle and go, and you really go!”

Sampey and her Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines teammates, Andrew Hines and Ed Krawiec, made a number of head-to-head drag race runs on stock LiveWire models, with Sampey posting the quickest times. Sampey is the winningest female in motorsports history with three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle championships (2000-2002) and 43 Pro Stock motorcycle wins.

The Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycle is an all-new, all-electric model designed to offer riders a thrilling and high-performance motorcycling experience infused with a new level of technology, and the premium look and feel of a Harley-Davidson product. The LiveWire motorcycle is capable of rapid acceleration with just a twist of the throttle – no clutching or gear shifting required.

As Sampey proved at Indy, the instant torque provided by the H-D Revelation™ powertrain delivers exhilarating acceleration from a stop; the LiveWire motorcycle can rush from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 kph) in 3.0 seconds and 60 to 80 mph (100 to 129 kph) in 1.9 seconds. Because maximum torque is always on tap, roll-on acceleration for passing from any speed is outstanding. An optimised centre of gravity, rigid aluminium frame and premium adjustable suspension components give the LiveWire motorcycle dynamic handling. With up to 146 miles of range*, performance is optimised for the urban street-rider.

The H-D Revelation™ electric powertrain produces minimal vibration, very little heat, and minimal sound, all of which enhance rider comfort and creates a unique riding experience, even on the drag strip.

Licensed riders can take a complimentary test ride on the LiveWire motorcycle at select Authorised LiveWire Harley-Davidson® dealerships.

Harley-Davidson Re-Launches The Enthusiast Magazine

Harley-Davidson is re-launching The Enthusiast™ magazine as a print and digital magazine designed to showcase motorcycle culture and the riding lifestyle through the lens of the Harley-Davidson brand. Originally published by Harley-Davidson from 1916 to 2008, The Enthusiast magazine will replace HOG® Magazine as the official publication of Harley-Davidson Motor Company and will become more widely available through other distribution channels.

“This is the return to a great tradition,” said Jochen Zeitz, Harley-Davidson President and CEO. “We believe today The Enthusiast title is more relevant than ever. In a year when so many people have been stuck inside, we passionately believe in inspiring riders and aspiring riders to get out in the world to rediscover adventure through socially-distanced riding.”

The first new issue of The Enthusiast magazine is available this week with a cover story featuring Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, stars of the new Apple Original series “Long Way Up,” premiering Friday, September 18 on Apple TV+. The series follows the epic motorcycle adventure McGregor and Boorman experienced on a 13,000-mile journey aboard two Harley-Davidson® LiveWire® electric motorcycles through South America, Central America and Mexico.

Printed four times annually, with a circulation of more than 500,00 print copies in the United States plus 150,000 copies internationally, The Enthusiast magazine is the most broadly circulated motorcycle magazine in the world. First published by Harley-Davidson in 1916, The Enthusiast magazine was among the first consumer motorcycle magazines in print, although Germany’s Motorrad (1903), Italy’s Motociclismo (1914), and Motorcyclist magazine (1909) in the United States preceded it.

From 1984 until 2008, Harley-Davidson produced two separate publications for owners and riders, The Enthusiast magazine and HOG Tales magazine. In 2009 they were merged under the HOG Magazine title into one new magazine that drew content inspiration from both publications.

With the movement of Motorcyclist to a digital format in 2018, the Enthusiast magazine, including the HOG Magazine years, remains the oldest continuously printed motorcycle magazine in the United States.

All Full and Life Harley Owner Group® members will continue to receive a complimentary subscription to The Enthusiast magazine as part of their membership benefits. Documentary starring Ewan McGregor would take motorcycle industry into another level

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman made two documentaries Long Way Around and Long Way Down about their travels with motorcycles. The title of the new documentary is Long Way Up since the couple rides from the capital of Tierra del Fuego Ushuaia in Argentina, which is the southernmost point of South America, to Mexico. The pair rides 13,000 miles, crossing 13 countries in 100 days. The fascinating thing about this documentary is that McGregor and Boorman ride Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycles instead of all-terrain ADV. David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, the directors of the film, will follow McGregor and Boorman with trucks and SUVs powered with batteries made by Rivian. Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Chile, and Mexico are just a couple of countries they will cross.

Motorcycle industry is getting deserved recognition

During the pandemic, All kinds of sports events were postponed. During the break, popularity of Motorcycle racing and Moto industry in general has exponentially grown. It’s due to console and iGaming platforms. People started playing more on consoles and iGaming platforms. Biggest news is that iGaming providers offer video game versions of the majority of sports. The fans of athletic competitions enjoyed their time on iGaming platforms. Adaptation of the sporting games are increasingly popular on the iGaming platforms. As technology advances the gaming providers who quickly adopt new technologies offer better quality graphics and faster connection to their users. The best gamers of the world take part in tournaments hosted by iGaming platforms. The users can basically play virtual sports on the iGaming platforms. New age live casino games online give a different set of emotion to international players who love playing sports. The options and choices grow day by day. Online gaming is growing and engulfing all the spheres of entertainment and sports. Racing is a very popular genre of video gaming. It was one of the first video game genres to be available on personal computers and consoles and was quickly embraced by the wider public. Races are still played on consoles and computers. Motorcycle sports are ideal for iGaming platforms and fans are looking forward to the adaptation for iGaming apps and websites. iGaming is increasingly popular throughout the world. The practice of adopting different types of entertainment for digital gaming already exists and motorcycle racing, which is such a popular sport, would make a perfect addition to the adaptations.

The Long Way Up’s Electric Adventure Concludes In L.A

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman with the crew of Long Way Up had a private wrap-up party at the Harley Davidson center in LA after finishing the shooting. Some people did not welcome the idea of the pair to switch to electric motorcycles. However, it gives the film a different twist and is a good promotion for the Harley Davidson electric bike as well as generally for the electric bikes. Apparently, Charley Boorman said that the charging process was not all that bad. They managed to charge their bikes from the local population throughout South America and once they crossed the border between the US and Mexico they managed to cover 300 miles a day because it was easier to charge the bikes fast in the United States. How the pair decided on the route, the countries, and everything else we will probably find out from the movie that will arrive on Apple Tv September 18th.

Ducati celebrates the centenary of the birth of the engineer Fabio Taglioni

On the day of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fabio Taglioni, Ducati celebrates and honours the memory of the italian engineer, designer of numerous revolutionary projects. Among these, the application of the desmodromic distribution system stands out, a technology with which Taglioni inextricably linked his name to the success story of the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer.

Born in San Lorenzo di Lugo on 10 September 1920, Taglioni graduated in mechanical engineering in 1943 and joined Ducati in the role of Technical Director on 1 May 1954, a date that marks the beginning of a flourishing of projects, ideas and patents that earned a place for the legendary Ducati-Taglioni pairing in the two-wheeled world. Only 40 days after joining Ducati, Taglioni created his first marvel – the Gran Sport 100, also known as ‘Marianna’ – which immediately became a force in Italian Gran Fondo long-distance road races.

In the wake of the successes achieved by the Gran Sport 100 and 125, the engineer from Lugo chose to devote himself fully to racing and to embark on the ambitious project of the desmodromic distribution system. Until then, the ‘desmo’ represented a technical and engineering gamble, but Taglioni demonstrated that he had the tenacity and skills to study it, perfect it and make it a winning idea. The first bike to be equipped with the desmodromic system was the 125 GP Desmo, which won its first Grand Prix a month after its debut and established itself in time as the fastest 125 in the world.

In the following years Taglioni actively participated with his work in the industrial rebirth of Ducati, creating projects such as the 175 Gran Turismo and the birth of the Ducati Scrambler, thus demonstrating a level of engineering excellence that was not limited to speed, but also included reliability and resistance.

After having contributed to making Ducati an international brand, Taglioni went back to devoting himself to new projects and prepare Ducati’s return to racing which took place in 1971 with the 500 GP, and in 1972 with the debut of the 750 GT, the first twin-cylinder production bike in the history of the Bologna-based manufacturer, powered by a 90° longitudinal two-cylinder engine. The 750 Imola (a production derivative of the GT) made its debut in record time at the Imola 200 miles and in front of 85,000 spectators achieved one of the greatest feats in the history of motorcycling, with Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari crossing the finish line in front of everyone. Until the end of his career Taglioni continued with innovation and experimentation in the racing field, putting his signature on projects such as the Pantah 500 and 750 F1.

The life and career of engineer Fabio Taglioni were celebrated with an evening entirely dedicated to his memory on Wednesday 9 September in the Pavaglione of Lugo di Romagna, his hometown. The event, sponsored by the municipality of Romagna, saw the participation of Ducati in the figure of the Curator of the Ducati Museum Livio Lodi, who recalled the fundamental stages in the history of collaboration between Taglioni and Ducati. The evening was also attended by the Mayor of the city Davide Ranalli, the Regional Councillor for Tourism Andrea Corsini, the writer Luigi Rivola and many other personalities such as the famous Italian comedian Giuseppe Giacobazzi, who recounted in his personal style the historic feat of the Ducatis and Taglioni at the Imola 200 miles in 1972.

The mini-series ‘Fabio Taglioni – A Life of Passion’ is currently being broadcast on the Ducati website and YouTube channel. The episodes tell the story of the engineer from Romagna, accompanied by exclusive images and videos.

Suzuki Announces Limited Edition GSX-R1000 To Celebrate 100th Anniversary

Suzuki has announced a limited edition GSX-R1000R – which will go on sale in October with an RRP of £16,999 – released to celebrate the firm’s 100th anniversary.

Limited to just 100 units in the UK, the flagship superbike sports the same retro-inspired livery as the GSX-RR MotoGP machine, with the traditional blue and slate silver colour scheme paying homage to Suzuki’s early Grand Prix machines of the 1960s.

The GSX-R – which has won races and championships in the UK, the USA, and Australia, the Senior TT on the Isle of Man, and most recently picked up three victories at the Silverstone British Superbike round last week weekend – also shares more than just paint with the GP racer. It utilises the same variable valve timing system to boost both torque and peak power and gets a comprehensive suite of electronics, which includes 10 traction control modes, a quickshifter and auto-blipper, launch control, and lean angle-sensitive ABS.

2020 marks 100 years since the inception of the Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Co. The firm began the production of motorcycles in 1952 with the launch of the Power Free, and two years later changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd. Since then it has gone on to produce some of the most iconic motorcycles of the 20th and 21st century, including the complete GSX-R series – most notably the genre-defining 1985 GSX-R750F and the 2001 GSX-R1000 K1 – the GT750, GSX1100S Katana, and RGV250, plus Bandits and the legendary Hayabusa.

Suzuki GB’s head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, said, With just 100 of these bikes available in the UK this is a unique opportunity to own and be a part of Suzuki history. The GSX-R range, and the 1000 in particular, has long been the flagship range of sportsbikes with an illustrious history both on road and on the race track. To mark 100 years of our Suzuki company it was only fitting to adopt the retro-inspired livery of bikes that have achieved and contributed so much to our history.”

Harley-Davidson LiveWire Tour is Go

Harley-Davidson UK & Ireland LiveWire® Tour goes live to showcase the highlights and advantages of owning a premium all-electric motorcycle.

Starting on 5th September, for the next five weeks, Harley-Davidson UK is introducing a LiveWire Tour to visit specialist Harley-Davidson Livewire® dealerships across the length of the UK. The LiveWire Tour consists of a specially built exhibition unit that houses a Harley-Davidson Jumpstart® unit with a specially developed rolling road that allows riding simulation.

The tour is designed to enable motorcycle licence holders and non-licence holders to see, ride and appreciate what it’s like to ride a Harley-Davidson LiveWire without covering any distance on public roads. It is a simple case of ‘start and ride’ to experience the performance of the all-new H-D Revelation™ permanent-magnet electric motor and discover a vast suite of electronic riding aids.

Licence holders full motorcycle entitlement who want to extend their experience of the machine can then put the LiveWire through its paces on a standard test ride by booking in advance with the dealership that is hosting their event.

With the onset of ever-tightening emissions regulations, the placement of viable alternatives to normally-aspirated engine power is rapidly gaining ground. In late 2019, Harley-Davidson took the initiative and became the first major motorcycle manufacturer to release an all-electric motorcycle, LiveWire®.

To date, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire has received major attention and rave reviews from the media – from motorcycle and automotive titles through to technology specialists – which have been echoed by the first LiveWire customers in the UK. Now it’s the turn of everyone else – from motorcyclists to fans of modern transport – to see, try and enjoy the merits of LiveWire; a premium brand, electric-powered, performance motorcycle.

The LiveWire Tour will be manned to ensure a fuss-free Jumpstart ride and, in conjunction with staff at the hosting Harley-Davidson dealership, all customer queries and advice on OLEV grants can be answered.

Bookings for the LiveWire Tour Jumpstart experience and demo rides should be booked in advance here.

KTM 450 SMR Roars To Racetracks Again

Seven years after KTM last fashioned the ultimate lightweight Supermoto powerhouse with the KTM 450 SMR, the motorcycle makes a stunning return for 2021. The supreme technical base of the championship-winning KTM 450 SX-F provides the platform for the factory to revamp and re-establish their Supermoto sporting prowess.

It’s been far too long since that last 450-gunned Supermoto power-drift, so KTM decided a renewal of their pedigree in the segment was long overdue. The company wanted to address a race bike ‘absence’ in their hefty arsenal and have taken great care to fabricate a brand-new version of their KTM 450 SMR for riders hungry for the track.

The KTM 450 SMR is a pure expression of the company’s philosophy: READY TO RACE direct from the dealership floor and with a standard setting of performance that will cause throttle hands to tremble. This is the complete Supermoto racer.

The heart of the 2021 KTM 450 SMR is provided by the decorated 450cc engine that made the KTM 450 SX-F such a formidable motocross and supercross weapon. The latest generation of 4-stroke engineering from the firm offers a 63hp boost at a weight a little over 27kg. The motor has been orientated in the frame to emphasize mass centralization: Supermoto riders and racers demand peak tactile feeling and contact with the asphalt and the ability to manipulate the condensed form of the KTM 450 SMR to their will. Underneath the SOHC cylinder head lives the 95mm bore lightweight aluminium cylinder, housing a 320g piston that pumps out mounds of torque while the strategically positioned crankshaft is another asset towards the bike’s centralized handling. A high-end conrod contributes to the long 100-hour service intervals.

Harnessing the potency of the engine is possible thanks to the PANKL Racing Systems 5-speed gearbox with an advanced sensor, permitting specific engine maps for each gear. A SUTER slipper clutch is added to enhance rear wheel stability: an essential ingredient for the Supermoto racer – and fan.

The output of the bike is molded through a special chromium molybdenum steel frame; the robotic welded fabrication of which ensures precision and quality. The torsion and flex characteristics are optimum for the use and purpose of the KTM 450 SMR and riders will not be disappointed – in fact they’ll be exhilarated – from the very first lap. Stability in a straight line to maximize grip and acceleration is complemented by the sensation of rapid ‘flickability’ that delivers reassuring feedback in droves. The chassis is robust but light; the 900g aluminum subframe is a key part. The frame is cast with 16mm offset through the CNC-machined triple clamps with three-way amendable handlebar adjustment. A die-cast swingarm is another featherweight chassis ingredient and means the wheelbase can be tweaked to optimize feel for any given track.

The triple clamps house the WP Suspension XACT front forks: a 48mm air type featuring AER technology with split damping function, and the mid-valve damping system is a hike in terms of performance. Supermoto competitors need deft connection with the Tarmac, but also trustworthy reactions from bumps and various conditions on the offroad sections, so the compact and light WP Suspension XACT rear shock is a valuable and fully adjustable component. The rear wheel travel of 266mm (285mm on the front) is part of a Supermoto-specific package where the linkage system and rear set geometry push usability and handling to the fore.

Stopping power is essential for the KTM 450 SMR and KTM rely on peerless partners BREMBO with premium 4-piston radial caliper and master cylinder on the front brake to convey the necessary mastery administered through the 310mm floating disc and dependability on the 220mm rear. Balance, belief and balls-out braking fun are definitely on the agenda with these specifications.

KTM knows that details can really make the difference to the entire motorcycle. R&D engineers wanted the KTM 450 SMR to strike an immediate impression. The radiator is built from strong aluminum and designed with computational fluid dynamics for maximum efficiency. The part is also placed to augment centralization. A 44mm Keihin throttle body means that delicate throttle response can be taken for granted and the complex Keihin Engine Management System regulates the rider’s personal needs for maps, launch control and traction control. A specifically designed airbox helps the engine generate the sensitive but fiery response a rider or racer needs. Extended thrills are possible due to the 7-litre fuel tank (with the fuel line tucked further into the bike and away from potential damage). Supermoto 16.5/17 ALPINA light, spoked tubeless wheels will carry the expected strength and are graced by Bridgestone slick tires. Expect the bike to really look the part with slim, race-friendly plastics and a graphic scheme apt for the first year of the new decade.

The KTM 450 SMR is back: Are you ready to get forward?
