King Nerd X HNTR 350 Collaboration Revealed

Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-size (250cc-750cc) motorcycle segment, announced a dynamic collaboration with London based artist, designer and engraver Johnny Dowell, otherwise known as King Nerd, who has gained a cult following by combining old and new aesthetics in his distinctive style.

Whether it’s creating bespoke watches, designing limited edition footwear or engraving bespoke pieces, Johnny’s work is instantly recognisable and coveted by hypebeasts and celebrities alike. He may have been trained to the highest standards by a centuries old luxury institution, but his own sensibilities lean towards streetwear, ‘90s Hip-Hop and the city that made him who he is – London.

As a lifelong motorcycle fan, there was one Royal Enfield model that spoke to Johnny more than any other, the urban inspired HNTR 350 mirrors the King Nerd ethos of classic-meets-contemporary and it was designed for the city streets that inspired his style growing up. Dialling up the HNTR 350’s city-focused design even further, the HNTR X King Nerd project pulls together all of Johnny’s inspirations into five dynamic neon colourways united by a common urban survival theme.

Developed from the ground-up, and built to have a strong Royal Enfield character combined with fresh and appealing compact urban design, the HNTR 350 has been instrumental in bringing a new set of consumers into the Royal Enfield community, with sales exceeding 200,000 units worldwide in just 12 months on-sale, its growing acclaim and adoption by trend makers such as King Nerd is a strong testament that it is doing just that.

Manufactured in-house by Royal Enfield’s Custom World division, these King Nerd HNTR 350 machines have been redesigned with numerous special touches from the mind of King Nerd, including practical hand-made pieces such as the side panel mounted storage pouches for every day essentials, adding practicality without interrupting the stripped back style of the machines. A custom King Nerd headlight graphic lights the way through the city, mounted in a bespoke headlamp surround. The sports tail cover gives these machines a unique style, combined with a custom finished Royal Enfield GMA seat trimmed in Alcantara with contrast design and stitching, hand spun aluminium wheel covers complete the look for an aggressive first read profile.

Each of the five HNTR 350’s feature unique custom paintwork with an ornate scroll design and King Nerd 350 logo, individual hand engraved plaque and custom keys with the King Nerd logo.

The final three machines in the King Nerd X HNTR 350 line-up will be revealed for the first time at Royal Enfield’s global rider gathering MOTOVERSE in Goa from the 24-26th November, after which they will tour the world as art installations – Keep a look out for them at a Royal Enfield event near you.

A vibrant new colour for the Dax, and cosmetic updates and new colours for the CB125F

A vibrant new colour for the Dax, and cosmetic updates and new colours for the CB125F round out Honda’s 24 year model line-up.

After an absence of 41yrs, the Honda Dax returned to Europe for 23YM, joining the Monkey and the MSX125 Grom in Honda’s unique mini-bike line-up. For 24YM, it gains a funky new Pearl Glittering Blue colour, joining Pearl Nebula Red and Pearl Cadet Grey, which carry over from last year.

With its iconic pressed steel T-shaped frame, no other motorcycle, big or small, cuts the same shape as the Dax. The frame, which extends from under the seat to the chrome handlebars, is reminiscent of a Dachshund with its short legs and long body, which led to the naming of the original ST50 Dax in 1969.

The 24YM Dax keeps the unmistakeable, iconic look of the original, with the frame (which also houses the fuel tank) providing plenty of strength for two up riding. Suspension is taken care of by 31mm USD forks matched to twin rear shocks. Completing the classic look, these are paired to blacked-out 12in mini-bike wheels with fat, balloon-like tyres which allow effortless around-town agility. Lighting is full LED and the Dax features a stylish negative LCD display, chrome handlebars and pillion grab rail.

The venerable Dax picked up a new accolade in 2023, with Portuguese artist Tamara Alves’s ‘Furiosa’ version winning Honda’s 4th annual customisation competition based around the Wheels & Waves festival in Biarritz (www.hondacustoms.com).

The perennially popular CB125F, has always been regarded as a tough, user-friendly entry-level motorcycle that offer the perfect first step into motorcycling. 21YM saw the CB125F receive a substantial makeover with a new engine, frame and new look including a LED headlight. Last year the CB125F was Europe’s second most popular 125cc motorcycle, with over 7,000 units sold.

For 24YM, the CB125F receives cosmetic updates including a new shorter muffler, longer chrome heat shield, a stronger aluminium pillion grab handle and two new contemporary colours – Imperial Red Metallic and Matt Marvel Blue Metallic – that join Black in the line-up. All three colours will also feature bright red detailing on the shock springs and spark plug cap for an added splash of colour.

The Dax will arrive in European dealers in December, to be followed in January 2024 by the CB125F.

Zero Motorcycles announces even more accessible 2024 model line-up

Zero Motorcycles has today unveiled its most accessible range of all-electric motorcycles yet, with an exciting line up containing four new models which have been designed to offer something for riders of all ages and licence categories.

New for learners and A1 licence holders, the 2024 Zero S and DS utilise Zero’s award-winning Fixed Steel Trellis (FST) platform, offering a pair of more accessible models for riders as young as 17-years-old, while the range topping DSR/X Black Forest is the most highly specified Zero to date. These three models are joined by a new FST based DSR for A2 licence holders, while the SR is also retuned for A2 licence holders. Both can be upgraded to unlock more power when the rider’s licence permits.

New colours give a fresh look to the carryover FX, FXE, SR/F, SR/S and DSR/X. All models are more competitively priced, with Zero taking advantage of new production facilities to offer lower RRPs than 12 months ago. All 2024 models are available from official Zero Motorcycles dealerships imminently.

2024 Zero S
Built on Zero’s award-winning FST platform, the 2024 Zero S brings all the style of the SR/F streetfighter to the A1 licence category.

Highly specified with fully adjustable Showa suspension, Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres and Zero’s latest Cypher III+ operating system, the 2024 Zero S is powered by a large 14.4kWh battery, giving a range of over 150 miles as standard, with a number of upgrades to the battery and charging capacity available.

Delivering 11kw of continuous power, as per A1 licence regulations, the Zero S can be ridden without the need to take a full motorcycle test. A generous 132Nm of torque, combined with twist and go transmission, makes the Zero S both fun and easy to ride, while an 86mph top speed ensures it is more than capable of keeping up with traffic on the open road.

Priced at £15,300 (plus on the road charges) the Zero S comes in a new White-Silver colourway.

2024 Zero DS
Bringing the effortless adventure sports experience pioneered by the DSR/X to a wider audience, the 2024 Zero DS offers CBT and A1 category licence holders a premium entry into the world of full-sized electric motorcycling.

As with all Zero motorcycles, the DS features high quality chassis components, such as fully adjustable suspension from Showa, Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres and an ABS braking system developed by Bosch.

Zero’s Z-Force 75-10 permanent magnet AC motor has been tuned to meet the 11kw continuous power output but, with a hefty 132Nm of torque and peak output of 60bhp, the Zero DS enjoys elevated levels of performance beyond that expected from a learner legal motorcycle.

With a 14.4kWh battery pack and up to 144 miles of range, the Zero DS opens up electrified adventure riding to a whole new generation of riders. The 2024 Zero DS comes in a Quicksilver livery and will be priced £16,200 (plus OTR charges).

2024 Zero DSR
With added performance and a larger capacity, 15.6kWh, battery the 2024 Zero DSR offers even more capability for A2 licence holders.

Built on the same ‘FST’ platform as the range topping DSR/X, the DSR boasts over 150 miles of range and a 93mph top speed, making it an ideal companion for A2 licence holders looking to experience adventure touring, Zero style.

Featuring a high chassis specification utilising Zero’s coaxial power pivot technology, the DSR is powered by the much-feted Z-Force 75-10 motor, delivering 70bhp peak power and a massive 170Nm of torque. One of the unique features of the 2024 Zero DSR (and the SR roadster) is its ability to be upgraded to meet the rider’s licence eligibility and personal tastes. Official Zero Motorcycles dealerships are able to retrospectively offer a power upgrade for full ‘A’ licence holders, matching the specifications of the DSR/X, while the battery capacity can also be increased to 17.3kWh.

The innovative Cypher III+ operating system also allows owners to add upgrades their motorcycles to meet their specific requirements, while the optional 6kw Rapid Charger can see the DSR recharge from fully empty to 95% in around 85 minutes.

The 2024 Zero DSR comes in a new Silver livery and will cost £17,000 when it goes on sale this month.

2024 Zero DSR/X Black Forest
Taking the DSR/X to a new level, the DSR/X Black Forest is a limited edition model developed for the most serious of motorcycle adventurers. Built on the critically acclaimed DSR/X platform, every Black Forest leaves the factory fully equipped for the most challenging adventurers.

Presented in a lustrous gloss black finish unique to the Black Forest, this limited edition model rolls straight out of the factory fully loaded with premium parts and special graphics to mark this out as the most luxurious Zero motorcycle to date.

KTM Primes The Next Generation of Ground-Breaking KTM SX-F Models

Still the reference, still the standard: KTM primes the next generation of ground-breaking KTM SX-F models for early December 2023.

Out of the gate, over a triple, past the checkered flag and pristinely placed onto a dealership floor: the KTM SX-F motocross line-up is still the best READY TO RACE performance range in the sector. Now for 2024, dropping early December, the company is braced to offer the next phase of what will be a revolutionary rider experience.

The latest iteration of the KTM SX-F range is a highly advanced technical platform that will form the basis of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s championship ambitions. The potential of the KTM SX-F foundation is beyond doubt and boasts the DNA of countless wins, podiums and titles in the upper echelons of motocross and supercross competition through the last decade.

However KTM wants to offer even more. In 2024, the possibilities to harness the connectivity potential of both bike and racer is bigger and more exciting than ever. There has never been a more relevant time to strive to be better, and KTM will place even more power and metrics into the hand of the rider.

“The KTM SX-Fs have always said a lot about our mentality and about us as a company and for 2024 we’re set to move the needle once again,” said Riaan Neveling, Head of KTM Global Marketing. “Our credentials on the dirt are as bright as our colours but we are always looking at how we can further empower riders and racers – that’s why several 2024 models are going to cause quite a stir. Success, experience and imagination can produce some really cool concepts and we will push the segment once again with what we have in store.”

Keep eyes peeled across social media starting early December 2023. There is only one brand still in the fastest line.

World Premiere Lambretta Elettra

Lambretta presents the Elettra, its vision for electric mobility.

The Elettra stands out for it’s style that respects 77 years of history and positions itself as role model for future luxurious mobility.

Consistent respect for the unmistakable design typical for the Brand. The combination of original design with a high-performance electric propulsion, places Elettra at the forefront of the two-wheel panorama. A true dream product, full of charm and contents.

Design
It’s uniqueness is revealed by the sharp and decisive lines of the front, perfectly armonized with the softer and more organic rear volumes. A tribute to the lines of the Lambretta LD. An aesthetic dialogue between past and future, marked by the very personal, minimalistic, sinuous profile of the floating seat.

The design not only strikes and excites, but interprets necessary functions brilliantly. Alongside a steel frame and chassis, there are generously sized 12″ wheels and a classic ‘pull-wheel’ double shock front suspension. The rear suspension is completely redesigned with a shock-absorbing unit positioned horizontally above the engine, connected with an arm to the aluminum swingarm. An innovative step for Lambretta.

The handlebar hiding the wooden ‘retractable’ brake levers, is a design masterpiece itself next to the ‘hooked’ head-lamp the most innovative on the market. The digital instrumentation projects Elettra into another aesthetic dimension of communication and interaction with the rider.

The entire rear body can be automatically lifted at the touch of a remote control. This gives practical access to the compartment that houses the battery. The body itself includes a helmet compartment.

Lambretta performance
In full Lambretta tradition, the Elettra guarantees performance, starting from its maximum speed of approximately 110 km/h, thanks to a continuous and peak power of 4kW and 11 kW respectively, and a torque of 258 Nm.

This outstanding performance is thanks to its Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), a choice for quality and performance, capable of ensuring great torque, the best weight/power ratio, high efficiency and reliability.

With its 3 different ‘modes’ to adapt one’s riding style to the mobility needs of the moment, Eco – Ride – Sport, the Elettra ensures a very convenient travel autonomy, which varies from approx 130 km (at a constant speed of 40 km/h) up to over 60 km (at a constant speed of 80 km/h).

The charging time of the battery (lithium, 4.6 kWh) is respectively approximately 5h30′ with a 220V home system and reduced to approximately 35 minutes with a ‘fast charge’ in a public place (up to 80%).

The overall dimensions are those of the perfect scooter for today’s urban mobility. A convenient seat height suitable for everyone (780mm) and a weight that is within the absolute normality of the category (135kg).

No technical solution is an end in itself. Every detail contributes to creating a unique model. The concept and development of Elettra are the work of the design team led directly by our president Walter Scheffrahn, who personally took care of every single aspect of the design.

The Lambretta range
Lambretta confirms its originality and competitiveness on the international market with a complete and modern range of high-quality products, available in different types of propulsion, displacements and trendy colours.

Lambretta Elettra joins the existing range, which includes the X series with X125 and X300, the V-Special series and the G-Special.

X SERIES
The X series represents an innovative product line, with a modern design that however maintains the typical Lambretta DNA. It includes the X125 (unveiled at EICMA 2022) and X300 models. X125 is thought of as the ‘ideal vehicle’ of the new generation of Lambrettisti especially for urban use, anticipating their great expectations in terms of quality and design. X300 lends itself to wider use. The X series features sporty and tapered lines, which immediately recall the typical stylistic features of the legendary Lambrettas of the past. The design of the steel sides is innovative, with ‘diamond’ lines that still maintain the Lambretta soul and spirit, updating them in a new guise. The fixed mudguard which is a peculiar feature of the Lambretta is retained.

G-SPECIAL
The G-Special series has its flagship model in the G350. It is positioned at the top of the premium market and represents the high-end extension of the current V-Special range. The concept and design, by Walter Scheffrahn and Peter Beselin, are inspired by the classic Lambretta designs of the past. It is the series with the highest displacement model in the premium classic scooter category. A high-quality product that represents the brand’s flagship model. It is presented on the market as a benchmark in the segment, with characteristics superior to competing products.

V-SPECIAL
The Lambretta range already includes the V-Special series in three displacements, V50- V125 and V200 introduced on the market during 2017.

Operational activities
Lambretta today is present in 45 countries. Its holding company is based in Lugano, while its administrative activity is located near London and its operational/technical works in Bangkok.

The new range is the result of close collaboration with the Lambretta Thai branch, which began operating over 3 years ago. It is Lambretta’s operational base in Asia, with great industrial solidity behind it in terms of production and distribution.

Lambretta models are built using the best available technologies, ensuring the highest quality according to global quality standards. This business model allows Lambretta to boast the best components offered on the market from a technological point of view.

New Vespa Primavera And Vespa Sprint S

Always Primavera
The first version of Vespa Primavera was born in the turbulent and creative climate of 1968 and quickly became a star, providing the generation that was changing the world with two wheels, and a whole lot of style.

With its contained dimensions and innovative lines, light and clean, combined with sparkling performance, simplicity and riding pleasure, Vespa Primavera was a breath of fresh air in a world hungry for change. Its global success made it one of the most beloved models in Vespa history.

Designed according to the same principles of style and elegance and equipped with the very best technology of the time, Vespa Primavera was reborn in 2013. The “small body” Vespa, which has always embodied the energetic and most urban spirit of Vespa, became ultra-modern, designed to ensure mobility with the elegance of an exclusive design, but also practicality and unique technical solutions, such as the full steel body. Harnessing the best technology of the time, the design and style of the new Vespa Primavera represented a real step forward with respect to previous generations.

Exactly ten years since its return, today Vespa Primavera undergoes an important style and technology revamp while maintaining its iconic legacy. The Vespa story is, after all, one of infinite technical and style development. The models evolve gradually, sometimes significantly, but they never lose sight of the original idea that has always put style, elegance, and riding pleasure at the heart of the project.

Vespa Primavera

Vespa Sprint
In the mid 1960s, a new generation of sports Vespa invaded Europe’s roads. These little “rockets” were small, quick, extremely agile and modern, just like the spirit of the guys and girls riding them.

Born out of the “small body” that characterised Vespa 50 and Vespa Primavera, they divided the world of the best loved scooter into two families, leaving the large body models to the adults.

Today the Vespa Sprint S is the natural heir to that tradition of vitality, style and youth. Based on the body of the new Vespa Primavera, it is dedicated to young riders and emphasises the sporty style details that its very name, legendary by birthright, evokes.

Presented in 2014, the Vespa Sprint family is now updated in line with the technical and style development of the Primavera range.

A new style, always Vespa
Owning a Vespa has always been a lifestyle choice, a statement of independence, elegance and positivity. Vespa represents a style that has continued to evolve, often anticipating or setting trends and always modern, always current, accompanying the generations that have long trusted in Vespa for their freedom.

Sharing the same exclusive steel body that has always distinguished Vespa from every other scooter, ensuring it is unique, Primavera and Sprint S now flaunt a series of style updates that bring them even more up to date.

The Piaggio Centro Stile continues to identify new finishings and new combinations of materials while ensuring meticulous attention to detail, to highlight the uniqueness and different identities of Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint.

The entire handlebar block has been redesigned with real attention to both the overall shape and the details, while the hand grips are also new for more immediate, natural control.

The leg shield back plate on the Primavera and Sprint S is new, elevating the sensation of perceived material and assembly quality. The Vespa Primavera Tech version, complete with keyless system, incorporates a selector that replaces the tradition key ignition. The wheel rims are new, with a five-spoke design for the Primavera, while the six spokes of the Sprint S form a particular spiral shape that adds energy and dynamism to the silhouette. Additional elements that have undergone a style revamp include the new crest on the mudguard (only for Vespa Primavera) and the new design and finishings of the central steering cover.Even the seat has been improved on the various versions, thanks to the use of new materials that ensure a better finish.

Vespa Sprint S Elettrica

New technology
As well as undergoing a significant restyling, the new Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S also receive a technical upgrade to ensure they remain cutting-edge, just as Vespa has always done throughout its history, embodying the best available technology decade after decade.

The Tech version of Vespa Primavera uses a key-less system, which sees the classic ignition switch on the rear shield replaced by a practical selector. The rider need only switch this to the ON position , and then the engine is started as usual, using the button located on the right-hand control bock. The key is used to open the seat and activate the Vespa remote identification system, which causes all the indicators to flash, a particularly useful function in busy car parks.

The new instrument panel, adopted by all Primavera and Sprint S versions (with the exception of Primavera Tech 125, 150 and Elettrica), elegantly combines both analogue and digital functions, displayed on a 3″ LCD screen. The traditional elegance of the Vespa speedometer is integrated with a series of functions including distance-based trip management, fuel consumption and average and maximum speed. The digital instrumentation also allows for management of the Vespa MIA multimedia platform, which connects Vespa to a smartphone – as standard on Vespa Primavera Tech and optional across the rest of the range.

In its 125 and 150 cc versions, Vespa Primavera Tech adopts a technological new 5″ TFT Full Colour instrument panel, one of the most advanced available today. As well as trip and vehicle-related functions, the Vespa MIA app allows the TFT screen to display all the functions for the management of phone calls, messages and music playlists as well as pictogram-based navigation, with a double day/night viewing mode.

Safety is also heightened with LED technology used for all the lights, both for Primavera and Vespa Sprint S. The new elements include the headlight, taillight and characteristic indicators integrated into the chassis. Greater visibility and better lighting improve the riding and level of safety in all conditions.

Vespa Sprint

Two successful families
The arrival of the new Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S versions allows for a  redesign of the Vespa range, with Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S now available with both a combustion engine and an electric motor.

The fuel-powered versions, with an engine capacity of 50, 125 or 150 cc, flaunt an ultra-modern, four-stroke engine with three valves and electronic injection. All are compliant with the latest Euro 5+ standard. In line with its eco-friendly spirit, models in the new “small body” Vespa range are also available with an electric motor, as a Moped version (moped-compliant and with speed limited to 45 km/h) and a Motorcycle version, available with the Primavera Tech equipment package.

All models with an electric power unit flaunt technology developed in recent years on the Vespa Elettrica, born in 2018, with the battery located under the seat. An efficient and compact layout that ensures the unique and iconic Vespa design remains intact. Because Vespa is not simply an electric scooter, but a work of art with a technological heart.

Vespa Primavera Elettrica and Vespa Sprint S Elettrica (or rather the Moped versions) also benefit from the fact the battery can be removed in a matter of seconds by disconnecting the cable that connects it to the vehicle; complete with handle, it can easily be transported for convenient charging at home, in the office or anywhere you may be.

A colourful universe
With its colourful, carefree universe, Vespa expresses the personality of its rider. This is why the new Primavera and Sprint S are keen to exploit the Vespa colour tradition, building on it to create a look that is even more lively and contemporary.

Vespa Primavera is available in Bianco Innocente, Nero Convinto, Verde Amabile, Arancio Impulsivo and Blu Energico, each paired with elegant chrome finishings. With its different engines, Vespa Primavera is also available with the Primavera S trim, which offers trendy shades paired with dedicated seat, finishings and graphics. Colours include: Beige Avvolgente, Nero Convinto Opaco and Giallo Curioso.

Primavera Tech expresses the most technological Vespa heart, its Blu Energico Opaco and Grigio Entusiasta colours contrasting with irreverent graphics and neon green finishings.

Vespa Sprint S is available in five colours: Bianco Innocente, Nero Convinto Opaco, Verde Ambizioso, Rosso Coraggioso and Blu Eclettico. Each shade is paired with dedicated graphics and bold black details, with either a matt finish, in the case of the traditional steering cover for example, or a polished look, like the wheels.

Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916: Ducati celebrates the supersport icon

Ducati celebrates the 30th anniversary of the 916 with a model in a limited, numbered series of 500 units.

The Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916 is Ducati’s homage to a bike that represented a milestone in the company’s history. A true icon of design and the world of racing, exhibited at the MoMA in New York, which even today, 30 years later, is still considered the emblem of beauty applied to two wheels.

The unmistakable features and supersport character of the Ducati 916, the bike from which the design DNA of all Ducati sports bikes originates, can be found on the Panigale Anniversario. The genes of the 916 can be found in the mass concentrated on the front, in the sinuous view from the top and in elements such as the headlight, the “nose”, the air intakes, the V of the fairing, the sculptural, diamond-shaped fuel tank, the short and agile tail and the single-sided swingarm.

On the Panigale Anniversary, the tribute to the 916 is celebrated with a livery, created by Centro Stile Ducati, that pays homage to one of the most beautiful racing graphics in Ducati’s sporting history, that of the bike that won the Superbike World Championship with Carl Fogarty in 1999.The iconic tricolour on the fairing, the white number plates and the number 1 have been taken up and revisited in a modern key, while the black portion of the upper half cowl recalls the air ducts of the 916. The lower tank, also black, is a strong reminder of the racing world. Finally, the tank cover features the laurel logo, in the same gold colour as on the 916. The logo on the fairing, which on the first 916 was in silver with gold outline, is here revisited and updated, almost with a 3D effect.

The Panigale V4 SP2 30th  Anniversary 916 is produced in a numbered and limited series of 500 units. Like the race bike from which it takes its livery inspiration, it is offered in the single-seater configuration only and is enriched by the billet aluminium steering plate with laser engraving of the model name and progressive number. Finally, the Panigale Trentesimo Anniversario 916 comes with a certificate of authenticity and a dedicated bike cover.
The technical equipment combines the SP2 specifications with a series of fine details that make this bike even more unique. In fact, the Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916 has a racing fuel tank cap machined from billet aluminium*, air ducts for cooling the front brakes, exhaust heat shield, wings with double profile design and front mudguard in carbon fibre.

Also made of carbon fibre are the five-spoke wheels, which reduce the weight of the wheels by 1.4 kg compared to the forged Marchesini of the V4 S and 3.4 compared to those of the Panigale V4. Inertial moment is reduced by around 26% at the front and 46% at the rear, making the bike more agile, less tiring and more precise under acceleration.

The braking system is the best in its class: thanks to Brembo Stylema R calipers and cooling ducts, it offers high braking efficiency and consistent lever travel even during long track sessions. The Brembo MCS master cylinder with remote adjuster allows simple, intuitive adjustment of feel and distance from the handlebar without having to stop.

The STM EVO dry clutch offers greater fluidity in all phases of riding with the throttle closed, such as corner entry, and allows the level of mechanical engine braking to be customised by changing the secondary spring. In track use, with the clutch cover open, enthusiasts can enjoy the classic sound that characterises Ducati racing bikes.

The adjustable footpegs in billet aluminium allow the riding position to be adapted to any physique, and enable the use of the standard Ducati Quick Shift Up & Down, which can be configured either as a traditional gearbox or with a racing pattern. Finally, the Ducati Data Analyser+ data acquisition system allows the rider’s performance to be monitored.

The bike is delivered with a track-ready kit, which includes billet aluminium caps for removing the rear-view mirrors*, number plate holder removal kit*, open carbon clutch cover* and Ducati Data Analyser+ data acquisition system.

The Panigale V4 30th Anniversary 916 was unveiled on the opening day of EICMA 2023, with an international event at the Ducati stand where, until Sunday 12, it will be possible to see the entire 2024 range from the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale live.

During the event, Ducati officially announced the dates of World Ducati Week 2024The appointment, for all fans, is set for the weekend of 26 – 28 July, as always at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”.

The 2024 KTM 990 Duke Hits The Bullseye With Sniper-like Accuracy

Heralding a massive leap forward for the KTM Naked range, the all-new KTM 990 DUKE takes aim directly at the coveted 1000 Naked bike segment, pulling no punches!

With 2024 marking 30 YEARS OF DUKE, the all-new KTM 990 DUKE slots into the line-up like a well-polished round in the chamber. In its quest to be the most performance-focused NAKED machine possible, the KTM 990 DUKE ticks all the right boxes mechanically, while deploying extreme new styling.

The KTM 990 DUKE makes its intentions perfectly clear. Apart from a blisteringly potent engine, an all-new chassis and swingarm design – not to mention updated ergonomics and technology – it now sizes up to larger capacity motorcycles in both displacement and proportions.

Side-on, the new design has been modelled around the concept of an explosion in a freeze-frame, harnessing extreme energy ready to be released. This new design is further enhanced by two colourway options; Black and Electric Orange – the latter being reminiscent of the Naked models of a bygone era, developed specifically to celebrate 30 YEARS OF DUKE.

At the face of it, predatory design meets reduced styling with its evolved LED headlight being a stand-out feature of the all-new KTM 990 DUKE. Constructed from a carefully chosen mix of materials, the new design ensures lighting stability in all road conditions. Position and daytime running lights are located on the profile of the headlight, which also auto-adjusts in intensity according to ambient light conditions thanks to a light sensor integrated into the dashboard.

Additionally, the KTM 990 DUKE is fitted with a Coming Home light function as standard. Here, the headlight will remain on after the ignition has been switched off, awarding the rider with a few seconds of light to open doors or for better visibility in the garage.

Power is taken care of by a dramatically updated version of the LC8c engine found in the KTM 890 DUKE R. Boasting 947 cc, the roaring heart of the KTM 990 DUKE receives new pistons, crankshaft and conrod, producing a fire-breathing 123 HP and 103 Nm, with a total motorcycle weight of only 179 kg, ready to ride.

The KTM 990 DUKE takes its DNA from the long lineage of hard-hitting DUKE models that have come before it, adding more verve and aggression for 2024. It is a performance-oriented machine at its core, designed around a lightweight, flickable chassis that inspires utmost rider confidence.

In typical DUKE fashion, a stiff trellis frame and a new closed-lattice swingarm come together to welcome high-quality adjustable WP APEX Suspension components. These, together with track-proven Bridgestone S22 tyres, provide SNIPER-like accuracy when it comes to cornering stability.

The WP APEX Suspension fitted to the KTM 990 DUKE features easy-to-adjust settings, encouraging the rider to push the limits comfortably. Upfront, the 43 mm WP APEX Suspension can be easily and accurately dialed in with 5 clicks on both rebound and compression. On the rear, the WP APEX Monotube shock absorber can be adjusted in 5-clicks, with manual preload adjustment also possible.

Once seated, riders are greeted by a 5-inch, anti-scratch bonded glass dashboard providing all the information a KTM 990 DUKE pilot could need. Revised graphics and menu structures are designed for faster, more intuitive access to the various features of the KTM 990 DUKE. This includes a new function that displays Lean Angle data, with an optional TRACK Mode complete with lap timer and telemetry stats. A USB-C connection is also added for device charging duties.

In short, the brief was simple; develop the ultimate mid-class NAKED machine. In achieving this, the 2024 KTM 990 DUKE hits the mark dead centre.

A full range of specially developed KTM PowerParts and KTM PowerWear are available for riders to personalise their motorcycles and get themselves kitted up in READY TO RACE performance.

The 2024 KTM 990 DUKE will be available from Authorised KTM Dealers from February 2024 onwards, for £12,999 OTR.

Just Ride: 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator 500 details released

Recently unveiled in outline as 2024 Kawasaki models, full details of the new Kawasaki Eliminator 500 and Eliminator 500 SE are now being released.

Set to have a strong presence in the 500cc mid-weight class, the Eliminator family name makes a return for Kawasaki with the unveiling of a machine with a unique design language of its own. Ready to make its mark in the urban style stakes, the EU A2 licence class compliant Eliminator 500 mates a liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder motor to Kawasaki’s famous trellis frame technology creating a great power to weight ratio plus a sleek silhouette harnessing a long and low form with horizontal lines defining the tank, seat and tail unit.

Delivering an ergonomic package that joins rider to machine in a natural “all day riding comfort” position, the Eliminator can boast a low seat height of just 735mm allowing an easy reach to the ground while offering a total of three seat height options including the standard item plus two others (higher @765mm and lower @715mm) as part of Kawasaki’s genuine accessory Ergo-Fit range.

All-LED lighting further increases day and night presence while an all-digital LCD meter keeps the rider informed of all essential information. Suspended from the tubular trellis chassis, the Eliminator’s parallel twin engine offers strong low-end torque, greatly benefiting low-speed control and manoeuvrability while contributing to low-stress everyday riding. And that riding experience can be enhanced with the features available on Kawasaki’s unique Rideology Smartphone app that allows riders to mate their machine to their handheld device for a new level of rider and motorcycle communication.

Up front an 18inch wheel paves the way while an imposing 16-inch rear delivers a clear message about urban style and the personality of the Eliminator and its rider. And under the skin in the “go department”, the Eliminator’s engine harnesses all of Kawasaki’s expertise in a long history of parallel twins. Features such as downdraft intakes provide a short, direct path for intake air to enter the cylinders, a large 5.8 L airbox with left and right intake funnels of different heights contributing to the engine’s smooth response plus large ø32 mm throttle valves helping to flow a greater volume of air, contributing to strong performance.

In the column marked chassis, design inspiration comes courtesy of the Ninja 400. Complementing the sleek styling, the steering geometry was carefully selected to achieve light, natural handling. With a 1,520 mm wheelbase, the impressive-looking chassis offers low weight while achieving its impressive design. Additionally, a diecast swingarm mounting plate bolts to the back of the engine assembly allowing the swingarm to be mounted directly to the engine, contributing to stability and light weight.

In terms of those all-important looks, a long and low design with elegant proportions is created by the vertically thin fuel tank and the horizontal lines evident from the head pipe to the original tail. The design of this impressive, mid-class sized body suggests a balance of active performance and composure while the round headlight and twin-shock rear suspension add to the authentic motorcycle style. For the SE model a unique colour and graphic package is mated to a stylish headlamp cowl, rubber fork boots, a handlebar mount USB-C port and a special SE seat with a distinctive stitching pattern.

Add a range of Genuine Accessories and the 2024 Eliminator 500 and Eliminator 500 SE deliver everything an emerging breed of young, fashion conscious urban riders’ demand. Style and substance have rarely been this easy to define. So, get on the Eliminator 500 and Just Ride.

Kawasaki adds original Ninja colourways to 2024 model line

Having already unveiled several 40th anniversary Ninja models for the 2024 range in the racetrack influenced ZXR livery of blue, white and green, Kawasaki has now gone full throttle with the announcement of two further celebration models – but with a twist.

Reimagining the famous 1985 Ninja 900 colours for a today’s riding generation, the new season line will now include 40th Anniversary Editions of the Ninja 1000SX and Ninja 650, resplendent in black, silver and red livery redolent of early USA market Ninja models retailed in Europe under the GPz brand name.

The unmistakable two-tone Firecracker Red and Ebony colours are inspired by the 1985 Kawasaki GPZ900R with the colour of the silver line separating the red and ebony panels carefully selected to match the brightness of the original.

Additionally, on top of the fuel tank, a 40th anniversary emblem sits proudly. Designed in a style similar to a championship sticker and reminiscent of the 1980s racing scene, the outline of the “Ninja” logo was reproduced using the original designs while the “Liquid-Cooled” logo used elsewhere symbolises the transition from air-cooled to liquid-cooled engines in the late 80s.

Attention to detail abounds with the eye-catching addition of silver-coloured wheel rim tape representing the texture of the machined wheels of the 1980s.

Predicted to be a highly popular and collectable iteration of the Ninja family, all 40th Edition models will be available in showrooms alongside a vibrant range of standard colourways for the 2024 season.

Making the future a feature of today, Kawasaki hopes that a new generation of riders will enjoy and celebrate four decades of Ninja in the best way possible; on the open road at the controls of an iconic sports machine.

Both machines will be available in dealers from January, with the Ninja 650 priced at £7,589, and the Ninja 1000SX £12,399

Kawasaki adds spice to the 500cc class in 2024

Since the legendary Mach III of 1969, the model name “Kawasaki 500” has energised and excited riders globally. For 2024, Kawasaki is set to unleash both a Ninja 500 and Z500 to join the battle for sales in the hard-fought mid-capacity sector.

The aggressively styled Z500 is powered by a new twin-cylinder, water-cooled engine equipped with an Assist and Slipper clutch. The responsive power unit is housed in a lightweight trellis type chassis delivering reassuring handling and easy reach to the ground for A2 licence holders. More experienced riders will be keen to take advantage of the lithe cornering and instant urge during sporting weekend rides.

Equipped with a LCD meter, the 2024 Z500 will also be available as a Special Edition model with its own unique livery plus the addition of an under-cowl and a colour TFT meter providing the ability to access information via the latest version of the Kawasaki Rideology App on the rider’s Smartphone and USB-C outlet.

In terms of genuine accessories, the Z500 owner enjoys a plethora of choice including large windshield (in clear or smoke), an ERGO-FIT high seat (+30 mm), tank bag and wheel rim tape.

MV Agusta LXP Orioli

There is no greater or rarer luxury than the total freedom to travel, explore and experience without setting any limits. MV Agusta celebrates this concept by presenting the world’s first luxury all-terrain motorcycle – the LXP Orioli.

Produced as a limited run of just 500, this new model is a tribute to Italian motorcycling legend Edi Orioli who, wearing the iconic Lucky Explorer colors of green, red, and white, became a symbol of adventure riding in the 1990s, dominating the world rally scene. As well as being numbered, every motorcycle produced will be personally signed by Edi Orioli, making each a unique piece to ride and collect.

The LXP Orioli positions in the luxury motorcycle segment for its equipment, technical features, choice of materials and attention to detail, ensuring the utmost comfort and first-rate performance both on and off-road.

Engine
The engine is the new 931 cc three-cylinder, developed entirely in Varese. Development was guided by the vocation of a model like the LXP Orioli, which must offer outstanding performance and adapt to a wide variety of riding contexts. The new three-cylinder is powerful, rich in torque, versatile in delivery and particularly lightweight at just 57 kg, which makes it 10% lighter on average than its direct competition. In its standard version, the engine delivers 124 hp at 10,000 rpm and

102 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm; specific power is 133 hp/liter and 85% of the torque is already available at just 3,000 rpm.
The crankcase and lubrication and cooling systems are completely new, while significant changes have been made to the crank gear, ignition – now even more robust – and the gearbox, which is extractable. The timing system flaunts a double overhead camshaft design, and the cams are DLC coated, a feature typical of sports bikes. The engine is liquid-cooled, and the crankshaft is counter-rotating, a technical solution that is unique in its category and for which the MV Agusta three-cylinders have always stood out, ever since the presentation of the first 675 cc model. This translates into vastly improved riding, the reduced inertia facilitating the changes of direction. Vibration has been further reduced with the countershaft, while the hydraulic clutch ensures smooth operation even in extreme riding conditions. The exhaust system is designed and developed to optimize the performance of the 950 engine and intensify the aggressive sound.

Electronics
The LXP Orioli can count on a particularly advanced 6-axis inertial platform, which interfaces with the on-board electronics, comprising the engine control unit complete with high-frequency processor. The Full Ride by Wire is based on torque management strategies, while the available maps – Urban, Touring, Off-Road and Custom All-Terrain – are specifically developed to ensure appropriate delivery and ideal adjustment of the electronic controls in different conditions of use. Traction control, which can be disabled, boasts five levels of intervention for road use, two for off-road use and a Rain mode to guarantee maximum safety even in adverse riding conditions. The engine brake offers two levels, which can be adjusted independently from the selected Riding Mode: level 1 is with reduced engine brake, level 2 is with full engine brake.

As well as ensuring a high level of safety through the turns, the Cornering ABS incorporates RLM (Rear Wheel Lift-Up Mitigation), with a strategy that is unique in its category, as well as other off-road-specific functions, such as the option to deactivate it fully or only at the rear wheel.
The ABS system has also been specifically developed to operate efficiently with both knobby and road tires.

The cutting-edge technology extends to the twist grip that, as with the entire three-cylinder range, is complete with counter rotation. This is important in order to heighten feeling and guarantee the smooth disabling of cruise control. The latter can be set by speed increments or decrements of 1 km/h or 5 km/h at a time. The key management system is fully Keyless.

In terms of its quality and comprehensiveness, the instrumentation is inspired by the world of premium cars, with its extensive options for connection via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the HD resolution of the 7” color TFT panel and its adjustable brightness. There are two graphics to choose between, depending on personal preference. Common to the entire range, the MV Ride app allows the rider to connect a smartphone, set up turn-by-turn navigation, save itineraries and riding data, and share this data with other users in the community. The MV Ride app even allows the user to program their LXP Orioli via smartphone before they start the engine. And the Mobisat anti-theft device with integrated geolocation comes as standard on the LXP Orioli.

Standard equipment aboard the LXP Orioli also includes full LED front and rear lighting for perfect visibility in all conditions. To further improve the user experience, the handlebar controls are backlit with LED lights.

Chassis
The LXP Orioli flaunts the iconic perimeter frame, produced in an alloy that is lighter thanks to the optimization of thicknesses, with removable rear sub-frame. The closed double cradle design with optimized stiffness values offers the ideal balance in different situations, whether this is two-up road touring or pure off-roading. The aluminum alloy swing-arm is chill-cast. The Sachs fork is fully adjustable in compression, rebound, and spring preload, for wheel travel of 210 mm, while the adjustable Sachs mono shock guarantees travel of 210 mm and is connected to the suspension with a progressive link system.

The seat is height-adjustable according to two positions (850 mm and 870 mm), adapting to different contexts and riders. Both the form and material of the padding have been developed to ensure comfort and support, on and off-road. Thanks to advanced manufacturing techniques, the external cover guarantees comfort, durability, and impermeability in the most extreme riding conditions.

A good 230 mm of ground clearance helps the rider tackle the hidden dangers of off-road riding. The wheelbase is 1,610 mm, while the wheel diameters are typical of an enduro bike with off-road vocation, 21” at the front and 18” at the rear. The motorcycle is homologated for use with Bridgestone tires, both road and knobby.
The brakes are supplied by Brembo, with Stylema front calipers on 320 mm discs and a two-piston caliper with 265 mm disc at the rear.

Aerodynamic research has allowed for the creation of a ‘calm zone’ around the rider and passenger that protects against any bothersome turbulence, for an even more comfortable journey. Ergonomics were prioritized right from the start with the LXP project, the contact points (footpegs, handlebar and seat) studied to ensure all the comfort the rider and passenger require for long-range travel, even with luggage, and provide the off-road efficiency needed to control the bike in more critical situations, when the rider’s knees help to control the vehicle for example.

Equipment
The LXP Orioli stands out for its crash bars, aluminum engine guard and additional lights, equipment that adds significant value during everyday use, whether on or off-road, while boosting the bike’s overall rally aesthetic. Offering excellent performance on all types of terrain, the LXP Orioli mounts the off-road-inspired Bridgestone Battlax AX41 tires as standard, while the Bridgestone Battlax A41 tires are homologated for pure road use. The tubeless rims, directly derived from the world of hard-enduro, are complete with machined-from-solid hubs. The comprehensive range of standard equipment aboard the LXP Orioli is rounded out with MV Agusta-branded rigid aluminum side cases, which also accentuate the bike’s luxury adventure spirit. With a capacity of 39 l and 32 l (exhaust side), the cases feature the rapid-release and push block systems.
The LXP Orioli comes with a kit containing the homologated titanium exhaust, co-designed and developed by MV Agusta and Termignoni, which is paired with a carbon fiber end cap and heat shield for a total weight saving of more than 4 kg.
Presented in a special box, the kit also contains the motorcycle cover and certificate of authenticity.

Style
The LXP Orioli was born in the historic CRC style center, owned by MV Agusta and based in San Marino, where the best designers in the sector have been creating some of the world’s most beautiful bikes for decades.
The LXP Orioli stands out for its elegant Pearl White colorway that adorns the fairings and front fender, while select details flaunt the colors of the historic sponsor with which Edi Orioli dominated the rallying scene in the 90s.
The central section of the bike is in Carbon-Metallic Black, as is most of the seat, though the white of the fairings makes an appearance on the sides.

The 500 units of the LXP Orioli will start to be delivered to customers starting from the end of first quarter 2024.

MV Ride app
Like all MV Agusta motorcycles, the LXP Orioli incorporates the free MV Ride app, which has been significantly revised and updated to make it even more efficient and advanced in terms of connectivity. It is now possible to enter a destination and view turn-by-turn directions on the color TFT display, while data acquisition is always operational when on the move. The experience begins before the engine is even switched on and can be relived at the end of the journey, enabling the rider to view acceleration, speed, lean angle, and throttle activity data. The user can add to the experience by uploading photos of their day to share with other users of the MV Ride app. The various MV Ride app options include the possibility to customize the vehicle response via the Custom map, which can be renamed as desired and even shared with other users of the ecosystem. It is, for example, possible to create a “Tuscany” map that can then be shared with other motorcyclists, thereby creating a community. Anti-theft geolocation is included free of charge for the first year.

2024 Honda CB1000 Hornet Summary

In the wake of the hard-hitting CB750 Hornet, a brand-new, big-bore Hornet spreads its wings, packing aggressively stripped back styling, stunning four-cylinder CBR Fireblade performance, high specification chassis and premium equipment.

The 23YM CB750 bought the evocative Hornet name back to Europe. And its combination of taut street fighter silhouette, exhilarating power and razor-sharp agility has justifiably earnt much praise and impressive sales, making it 2023’s best-selling naked bike in Europe year to date through August.

Now, for 24YM, the Hornet family has expanded with the introduction of not one, but two exciting new members. With the CB500 Hornet taking its place alongside the CB750 Hornet, headlining the trio is the new CB1000 Hornet which turns the excitement dial up to maximum. Powered by the 17 year model CBR1000RR Fireblade’s formidable engine, and designed as a potent cocktail of strong in-line 4 engine performance and ultra-sharp handling, the CB1000 Hornet delivers maximum riding fun from busy city block to twisting back road.

Designed in Japan, its transformative looks are driven by two words: AGGRESSIVE and PURE. Led by the piercing gaze of super-compact dual LED projector headlights, the Hornet-signature fuel tank – with wings folded forward – is broad shouldered up front but tapers radically to the rear, mirrored by the minimal seat unit that underlines the traditional narrow-waisted Hornet look. The new frame is also used as a design feature, but subtly blacked out – like the tubular trellis-style rear subframe.

The CB1000 Hornet’s huge performance potential, high-quality specification, compact dimensions and refreshing new style make it a hard bike to ignore, especially for those riders with a mid-capacity naked bike looking for their next step up the ladder.

2024 Honda CB500 Hornet

Honda’s A2 naked twin-cylinder streetfighter joins the Hornet family, with aggressive new styling and aerodynamic improvements befitting the iconic name. Power and torque for the 471cc engine meet maximum A2 licence requirement– at 35kW and 43Nm – while an ECU update improves acceleration feel and Honda Selectable Torque Control is now standard. The high-quality chassis specification includes 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD forks, Showa rear shock and dual discs up front with four-piston calipers. A brand-new LED headlight opens up better visibility at night, while a new 5-inch TFT screen offers Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, operated by a simplified and backlit 4-way toggle switch.

  1. Introduction

The naked CB500F – originally launched in 2013 alongside the adventure-styled CB500X (now NX500) and fully-faired CBR500R – quietly proved that one of Honda’s tried-and-trusted formulas for building popular motorcycles had an enduring relevance.

That formula? An entertaining twin-cylinder engine wrapped in a simple, lightweight, sporty chassis. And, while a 35kW peak power output made it suitable for A2 licence holders, the CB500F always offered so much more than ‘entry level’ performance. Sure, it was an easy machine to manage, ride and learn on, but those same attributes also made it a genuine pleasure for those stepping up from a 125 or coming down from a bigger machine. Sensible running costs, whatever the situation, added strongly to the appeal.

In 2019, the CB500F was redrawn with uncompromising lines that elevated its technical and mechanical aspects and 22YM saw it receive high-quality suspension in the form of Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD forks and dual front discs, plus new lightweight wheels and swingarm.

For 24YM Honda’s formula for the 500 streetfighter continues to evolve. Joining an iconic Honda family, the new CB500 Hornet follows in the wheel tracks of the impressive CB750 Hornet with aggressive new styling, high-end technology and a variety of detail upgrades that are sure to make it one of Europe’s most popular motorcycles.

  1. Model Overview

A new name and new look give the CB500 Hornet a fresh edge as it rides into 24YM. Premium new tech too, in the form of a 5-inch TFT screen – operated by an intuitive and easy-to-use lefthand switchgear – features the smartphone connectivity of Honda RoadSync.

The A2-compliant, slipper clutch-equipped twin-cylinder engine benefits from the addition of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) as well as ECU updates to improve acceleration.

Chassis specification includes Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD forks as before, with dual radial-mount four-piston brake calipers.

The 24YM CB500 Hornet will be available in the following colour options:

Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic

Grand Prix Red

Pearl Himalayas White

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • New streetfighter style incorporates aerodynamics that improve steering and agility
  • New LED headlight and taillight
  • New 5-inch full colour TFT screen includes Honda RoadSync connectivity for on-screen turn-by-turn navigation and access to other smartphone functions
  • New, simplified left hand switchgear is easy to use and backlit for night-time

The CB500 Hornet’s aggressive new look is inspired by the streetfighter DNA of its big sibling and was led by the design banner ‘Digital Dynamism’. A sensual form front to rear, it also offers mass contrast, with a ‘wedge’ silhouette weighted forward with very slim rear section, muscular fuel tank and sharp new nose cone fairing.

And there’s function to the form; the geometric angles of the fairing also incorporate headlight side ducts that channel airflow smoothly around to the upper fuel tank area. This aerodynamic package contributes to a linear steering feel with increased handling agility. A new LED headlight design maintains beam penetration but throws out wider light distribution, for increased visibility when riding – and cornering – at night. It’s matched to a new sleek taillight, and all lighting is LED.

Premium technology, in the form of a brand new 5-inch full colour TFT screen inherited from the CB1000R, uses optical bonding to improve visibility in bright sunlight, a first for a Honda motorcycle. By sealing the gap between the cover glass and TFT screen with resin, glare is reduced and backlight transmittance improved. It’s customisable between Bar, Circle and Simple display patterns and also offers the IOS/Android smartphone connectivity of Honda RoadSync.

This new feature – alongside a simplified, easy-to-use, backlit 4-way toggle-switch on the left handlebar – allows straightforward, on-screen turn-by-turn navigation as well as the option (via a Bluetooth helmet headset) for the rider to make calls or listen to music. All an owner has to do is download the Honda RoadSync app from either the Play Store or the App Store, connect to the CB500 Hornet, and go.

Tapered handlebars offer intuitive feel and leverage. Seat height is low at 785mm, making the CB500 Hornet very easy to manage and its neutral riding position comfortably accommodates riders of any height.

Purposeful-looking aluminium footpegs are lightweight and add a sporting feel. Overall dimensions are 2080mm x 800mm x 1060mm, with 145mm ground clearance. The fuel tank holds 17.1L including reserve and combined with the engine’s excellent 3.5L/100km (28.6km/litre) fuel economy, gives a range of over 485km.

3.2 Chassis

  • 41mm Showa Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks
  • Dual 296mm discs, Nissin radial mount four-piston calipers
  • Lightweight wheels and swingarm

Light, strong and unchanged for 24YM, the 35mm diameter steel diamond-tube mainframe has a tuned degree of yield that gives plenty of feedback to the rider as road surfaces change. The shape and position of the engine mounts, plus the frame’s rigidity balance, keep vibration to a minimum.

Wheelbase is 1410mm with rake and trail of 25.5°/102mm, and front/rear bias percentage is a perfect 50/50. Kerb weight is 188kg.

Like its sibling the CB750 Hornet, the CB500 Hornet features Showa 41mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks which divide the functions – Big Piston pressure separation damper in one leg, spring mechanism in the other – and reaction and ride quality are top draw.

The swingarm is constructed from 2mm steel and employs a hollow cross member; it is stiff rotationally, and flexible laterally to improve handling. The single-tube Showa rear shock absorber, with its large-diameter piston, ensures excellent response and temperature management and features 5-stage preload adjustment.

Dual 296mm front discs are worked by Nissin radial-mount, four-piston calipers; the rear 240mm disc by a single-piston caliper. Lightweight rims use 5 Y-shaped spokes; the 3.5-inch front wears a 120/70-ZR17 tyre, and the 4.5-inch rear a 160/60-ZR17 tyre.

3.3 Engine

  • Lively twin-cylinder powerplant now equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
  • New PGM-FI settings improve low-rpm acceleration and power delivery across the rev-range
  • Assist/slipper clutch eases upshifts and manages rear wheel through downshifts

Delivering maximum A2-licence performance, the friendly 471cc, 8-valve liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder layout offers a well-proportioned balance of physical size and willing, enjoyable power output, with an energetic, high-revving character and zappy top end. And it’s very much an engine whose overall performance and character belie its relatively small capacity; peak power of 35kW arrives at 8,600rpm, with 43Nm torque delivered at 6,500rpm.

A 24YM addition is HSTC to manage rear wheel traction for increased peace of mind and a real boost for rider confidence. The system compares front and rear wheel speeds to detect rear slip and controls the fuel injection to smoothly reduce torque. HSTC can also be turned off completely if the rider wishes.

Feeding the PGM-FI fuel injection is a more-or-less straight shot of airflow through the airbox and throttle bodies. Optimisation of ignition timing and air/fuel ratio equals more powerful acceleration feel from low rpm, with linear power delivery and throttle feel. The exhaust muffler features dual exit pipes, giving a sporting edge to each pulse, and a rasping high-rpm howl.

Bore and stroke are set at 67mm x 66.8mm and compression ratio is 10.7:1; the crankshaft pins are phased at 180° and a primary couple-balancer sits behind the cylinders, close to the bike’s centre of gravity. The primary and balancer gears use scissor gears, reducing noise. The crank counterweight is specifically shaped for couple-balance and its light weight allows the engine to spin freely, with reduced inertia.

Acting as a stressed member, the engine complements the frame’s rigidity with four frame hangers. Internally the cylinder head uses roller rocker arms; shim-type valve adjustment allows them to be light, for lower valve-spring load and reduced friction.

A silent (SV Chain) cam chain has the surface of its pins treated with Vanadium, reducing friction with increased protection against wear. Inlet valve diameter is 26.0mm with exhaust valve diameter of 21.5mm. Piston shape is carefully designed to reduce piston ‘noise’ at high rpm. Friction is reduced by striations on the piston skirt (a finish that increases surface area, introducing gaps in which oil can flow for better lubrication).

The ‘triangle’ proportion of crankshaft, main shaft and countershaft is efficiently compact and the crankcases employ centrifugally cast thin-walled sleeves; their internal design reduces the ‘pumping’ losses that can occur with a 180° phased firing order. A deep sump reduces oil movement under hard cornering and braking; oil capacity is 3.2L.

A slick-changing six-speed gearbox is managed by an assist/slipper clutch, eliminating rear wheel ‘hop’ under hard braking and downshifting.

  1. Accessories

2024 Honda CB650R

For 24YM Honda’s naked four-cylinder jewel evolves its Neo Sports Café style with a sharp styling update from nose to tail. A brand-new 5-inch TFT screen offers Honda RoadSync connectivity, operated by simplified new 4-way toggle switch. Engine performance is unchanged at 70kW power and 63Nm torque, with an A2 option. The CB650R – alongside the CBR650R super sports bike – will be the first Honda to be offered with the option of Honda E-Clutch technology, which gives the rider choice of automatic clutch operation by simply using the shift pedal. Chassis specification includes Showa SFF-BP USD forks, dual four-piston radial mount front calipers and 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 tyre combination. Two brand-new paint options and two new colour combinations strike a contemporary chord.

  1. Introduction

Honda has always thrived on exploring new boundaries – in design as well as engineering. In 18YM, the CB1000R, CB300R and CB125R brought a fresh identity to its naked motorcycle line-up, mixing café racer inspirations with a forward-looking ultra-minimalist look under the ‘Neo Sports Café’ design theme.

In 19YM the CB650R joined the family and its combination of cool styling, exhilarating four-cylinder engine performance and light, versatile handling ensured immediate sales success. Building on the momentum, for 21YM it received a major front suspension upgrade, plus a range of detail improvements to enhance comfort, usability and practicality.

24YM is an important year for the CB650R and while updated style and functionality will get attention, this bike – alongside its naked sibling, the CBR650R – will go down in history as the first Honda to be available with Honda E-Clutch technology, which is designed to make motorcycling, from beginner right through to expert, even more enjoyable – and even more exciting.

Valerio Aiello, of Honda’s Rome R&D Department on the Neo Sports Café design aesthetic:

“The entire current Neo Sport Café range from Honda is the result of the CB4 Concept model presented at EICMA in 2015. Our desire was to explore the world of the café racer and reinterpret it in a modern key. We wanted to create neo-classics – that is, modern motorcycles showcasing classic design styles combined with modern techniques.

I used inspiration from outside the world of motorcycles, in watches. I’ve always liked their technicality and one of the key concepts used during the Neo Sports Café design was ‘Mechanical Art’. This is the desire to show the beauty of the various mechanical elements to which Honda has always given great importance.”

  1. Model Overview

There’s a fresh look to the CB650R’s retro minimalism. A new headlight, radiator shrouds, rider/pillion seat, tail unit and taillight inject a more dynamic energy, while the fuel tank remains a strong presence above the beautiful inline four-cylinder engine.

A new 5-inch full colour TFT screen is designed for readability on bright days and features Honda RoadSync connectivity. Managed by a new, easy-to-use 4-way lefthand backlit toggle switch the rider can now enjoy on-screen, turn-by-turn navigation in addition to other smartphone features.

Performance is unchanged: 70kw peak power with 63Nm are fun figures for a naked bike,  and the classic in-line 4 cylinder ‘pick-up’ and high-revving top end power are longstanding Honda calling cards. A 35kW option is available for A2 licence holders.

Available as an option on the CB650R, the new Honda E-Clutch takes away the need for the rider to use the clutch lever to make a shift either up or down the gearbox.

The chassis is as before and a perfect package from city block to twisting back road. A steel diamond frame provides core rigidity while 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD front forks and Showa rear shock deliver high-quality suspension control. Four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers work 310mm floating discs and cast aluminium wheels mount 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 front and rear tyres.

The 24YM CB650R will be available in the following colour options:

**NEW** Matt Laurel Green Metallic with Matt Vulcan Silver Metallic details

**NEW** Pearl Smokey Gray, with Matt Crypton Silver Metallic details

Candy Chromosphere Red with NEW Matt Crypton Silver Metallic details

Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic with NEW Matt Crypton Silver Metallic details

  • New 5-inch full colour TFT screen includes Honda RoadSync connectivity for on-screen turn-by-turn navigation and access to other smartphone functions
  • New, simplified left hand switchgear easy to use and backlit for night-time
  • All lighting LED; new slanted headlight matched by new taillight design

Tightly wrapped, the CB650R’s Neo Sports Café style evolution features the signature compact ‘Trapezoid’ proportion of a new, sharper tail and short-overhang and new slanted LED headlight All other lighting is LED, and a new taillight tucks seamlessly into the new fairing.

From the front, via the new radiator shrouds backwards, the overall look is sinuous, more dynamic and with keen sense of purpose. The long fuel tank remains a key motif of the family design; its smooth lines accentuate the solidity of real metal surfaces and crown the engineering of the four-cylinder powerplant. It also houses the ignition. A 35° handlebar angle makes tight, slow-speed turns and U-turns straightforward.

The shape of the pillion and rider seats have been revised to match the new tail; seat height remains 810mm. There’s a USB Type-C socket located under the seat.

Premium technology – in the form of a brand new, 5-inch full colour TFT screen – uses optical bonding to improve visibility in bright sunlight. By sealing the gap between the cover glass and TFT screen with resin, glare is reduced, and visibility improved. The display itself is customisable between ‘Bar’, ‘Circle’ and ‘Simple’ display patterns and also, for the first time on the CB650R, offers the smartphone connectivity of Honda RoadSync.

Honda RoadSync – alongside a new simplified, easy-to-use, backlit 4-way toggle-switch on the left handlebar – allows straightforward, on-screen turn-by-turn navigation as well as the option (via a Bluetooth helmet headset) for the rider to make calls, listen to music or receive voice feedback of weather conditions. All an owner has to do is download the free Honda RoadSync app from either the Play Store or the App Store, connect to the CB650R, and go.

3.2 Chassis

  • 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks
  • Four-piston, radial-mount front brake calipers and floating discs
  • 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 front and rear tyres

The steel diamond frame uses pressed swingarm pivot plates and twin elliptical spars with a rigidity balance specifically tuned (stiffer around the headstock and more flexible in the spar sections) to deliver excellent all-round handling characteristics with high levels of rider feedback. Rake is set at 25.5° with trail of 100mm and wheelbase of 1,450mm. Kerb weight is 205kg (207kg E-Clutch).

Showa’s 41mm Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks offer high-quality reaction. A pressure separation damper in one fork tube and spring mechanism in the other deliver high damping performance and lighter weight. Together with the use of a larger sized piston, the result is increased feel, bump absorption and control. Adjustable for 10-stage spring preload, the single-tube monoshock operates directly on the curvaceous gravity die-cast aluminium swingarm.

Four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers work 310mm floating discs, and are paired with a single-piston rear caliper and 240mm disc. The ABS is a two-channel system.

Cast aluminium wheels mount 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 front and rear tyres.

3.3 Engine

  • 70kW peak power with 63Nm peak torque
  • 35kW A2 licence option available
  • Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)

The 649cc, DOHC 16-valve engine is unchanged for 24YM. It’s tuned to create the purest, most enjoyable mid-sized four-cylinder performance possible, with the classically fast ‘pick-up’ through the rev range and hard-hitting, high-revving top end for which Honda’s in-line fours are renowned. Peak power of 70kW arrives @ 12,000rpm with peak torque @ 63Nm delivered at 9,500 rpm. A 35kW option is available for A2 licence holders.

Direct cam actuation makes for a compact cylinder head; bore and stroke is set at 67mm x 46mm with compression ratio raised of 11.6:1. Iridium spark plugs are employed and twin air ducts – either side of the fuel tank – feed the airbox and produce a throaty intake roar.

Asymmetric piston skirts minimise bore contact and reduce friction. Ferrous spines on the outer surface of the cylinder sleeves reduce oil consumption (and friction) with improved heat transfer and a silent SV cam chain reduces frictional losses by using a Vanadium coating on its pins. Internal water channelling from cylinder head to cylinders does away with most of the exterior hoses.

The engine uses a compact internal architecture, stacked six-speed gearbox and starter layout with the cylinders canted forward 30°. An assist/slipper clutch eases upshifts while managing rear-wheel lock up under hard braking and rapid downshifts. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) manages rear wheel traction; it can be turned off should the rider choose.

Fuel consumption of 20.4km/l (WMTC mode) gives a range of over 300km from the 15.4L

fuel tank. EURO5 compliant, environmental efficiency has been updated with revisions to the ECU and catalyser, as well as the addition of an OBD2-2 sensor.

  1. Honda E-Clutch – see separate post
  • World-first technology allows the rider to start, stop and change gear without using the clutch lever – just the shift pedal
  • Available as an option from new; system adds 2kg to kerb weight
  • Honda E-Clutch also allows normal operation of the clutch lever
  • Brings more enjoyment and flexibility across a wide range of scenarios, for a ‘next level’ riding experience

Honda E-Clutch takes elements of the technology and performance of quickshifters, manually-operated clutches and Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission technology to create a unique blend of these well-proven approaches, opening up a whole new aspect of the motorcycling experience for riders of every type and experience level. The clutch and transmission hardware themselves are no different from a conventional motorcycle, with the ultra-compact system weighing only 2 kilograms.

In operation, Honda E-clutch is simplicity itself, taking away the need to use the clutch lever to make a shift either up or down the gearbox. The rider simply has to operate the shift pedal for ultra-fast, consistent gear changes, bringing extra enjoyment to sporty riding. The clutch lever is also not needed when pulling away or coming to a stop. Becoming active as soon as the engine is switched on, the system manages both scenarios smoothly, while taking away the possibility of the engine stalling when in operation, providing extra convenience and peace of mind to town riding involving frequent starts and stops.

In addition to enjoyment and convenience, Honda E-Clutch brings ultimate flexibility. Should the rider wish, they are able to operate the clutch lever as normal at any time. When the clutch lever is used, the Honda E-clutch system will re-activate after less than a second above a certain engine rpm; after 5 seconds at lower engine speeds. Should the rider wish to turn off the system for a particular ride, this is also possible via the switchgear on the left handlebar. The change to manual operation is indicated by a letter ‘M’ on the instrument panel.

The Honda E-Clutch also allows the rider to select an ‘operation feel’ to set the strength of the force required on the shift pedal to make a gear change. Three settings are available: HARD, MEDIUM, and SOFT, each of which can be chosen independently for upshifting and downshifting. The technology will also advise the rider to shift down – via a symbol on the instrument panel – if it detects the motorcycle is in a high gear at a certain speed.

The Honda E-Clutch manages clutch engagement and disengagement based on its reading of parameters including vehicle speed, throttle opening angle, engine rpm, pressure on the shift pedal, clutch motor reduction gear angle, engine countershaft speed and gear position. The clutch is operated through an actuator unit with two motors situated inside the right hand engine cover. As the clutch is engaged or disengaged, the engine’s ignition timing and fuel injection are also controlled, resulting in smooth, shock-free shifting in any situation.

Junya Ono, Large Project Leader, Honda E-Clutch: “Our Honda E-Clutch is designed to offer motorcyclists a new kind of experience that can make their riding even more fun and exciting. It also adds peace of mind and comfort to town riding or the daily commute. We hope that many riders will try our new system to enjoy the unique mix of sportiness and flexibility it offers.”
